Great teacher! Very strict lecture but makes it eaey to understand. All his test are generally the same format. The first one is hard, after that it's o.k. If you want to learn, take his classes!

if you take you lecture notes, and read even just the bold terms (and familerize w/ them) in the reading he assigns you'll pass. No papers just tests. very ez to talk too.

Political Science is political science. He spoon feeds us organized notes. I never had to read the book and maintained 80% 3 tests. He drops the lowest score & is helpful. Just make sure youre on time. Its called college. NOT FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH.

Simple class. All he does is lecture and exams are stright from notes/textbook. Exams are easy, and he give a study guide a week before the class. He is now teaching at Rio Hondo Comm. College.

He is teaching a new course that is half the time in class. I wish they had that when I took him for Polys 110. Again as other said read the book and you will do great in this class.

I took the hybrid class. One class meeting a week and all quizzes online except final exam. One paper written. The book will help a lot when looking for answers for the quiz. A couple time class got boring but he is overall a good teacher and I had a pleasant experience.

I took Colin Young for polysci 110 and didn't regret it. He was helpful and clear, actually wanted to help his class get good grades. It was challenging, but I learned alot. Thanks Colin.

Hard Course! I have to say it is not my subject I did studyed harder since I took it for the summer, overall teacher is great lots of note taking from powerpoints could be boring, but he is fun and finds ways to make you learn, he is very strict but also understandable and helpful towards students.

Great teacher his class is mostly PowerPoint but their very clear and he's straighforward and extremely helpful. His tests are 96% from his PowerPoint so If u study em real good then ur set! Highly recomend him u will learn a lot without doin much work. He has a good sense of humor and he's not hardass. There's a 5pg class paper but he grades fair

his lectures can be a little boring and long. but you learn what he is trying to teach. tests are not that hard. he gives a stuy guide and that is basically whats on the test. if you study the study guide youll do good. i got an A and never read the chapters but i did study. plus you have to write a research paper. overall a pretty good teacher.

Class is interesting and fun. He gives no homework so the tests are your grade. There is an essay assignment and 4 tests, he drops the lowest score. Overall it is an easy class and he is a fun teacher

he is funny, easy to understand, no homework, no essays or anything like that. just 4exams, not even a final, and 1 research paper. hes just real funny, really down to earth and talks to you like an equal, allows extra credit, and you can miss and only loos 5pnts after a certain amount.. His lectures were taught for us to comprehend, and best of all he's funny. Even though sometimes it would be too early to laugh, he had a way to catch our attention. He uses hand gestures a lot and makes sure everyone is listening. He is better than the book. If you know how to take notes, you dont need the book. Enjoy

Just to start off, Professor Young is one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is so smart in his field, and makes Political Science a very interesting subject to learn. I took is Honors course, which is no different from his regular Political Science, only that the research paper at the end is longer. His lectures are always fun and interesting!

Very good tchr. speaks very clearly, knows what he is talking about. no need to buy book as long as you copy his powerpoint. 4 tests and a paper. thats it. gives a study guide b4 every test. do the study guide (answers r in powerpoint notes in chronological order) and u will pass. no essay questions on tests just vocab. super easy highly recommend.

I took comparative government with him. barely showed up in classs and passed with an A. it's all lectures and outlines so you could basically read the book and study and show up to tests. chill guy, nice and informative. looks like mr.incredible and has some jokes. haha take it:)

I took his online political science class. VERY easy. Majority of his quiz and final questions are in his powerpoints. You don't need the book. He does lag at grading assignments and updating blackboard. Quizzes are timed, but just search the powerpoints and you'll do fine. EASY CLASS!

He is very professional, he's Irish and his voice <3 You have to definitely read, study and learn the vocab terms because his tests are both from lecture & the text. You also have to write a 5-7 page paper, start early!

Flexible online class. Gives you plenty of time to complete work at your own pace and help is available if you ask. Do the work and you are sure to pass the class with a good grade.

if you get extremely bored with poly sci like me then take his online class. I wont say its completely easy but its definitely straight forward. just follow directions and you will do great. plenty of time to do all work.

The easiest class I have ever taken in my life. His online course is beyond low maintenance. You rarely ever hear from him save for reminders. You do not have to a lot to pass this class. Take it online, you won't regret it.

This is an easy class that you will pass. Taking Powerpoint notes as well as reading the chapters from the textbook are very helpful for short, easy quizzes. Both midterm and final exam include some questions from the quizzes, and they're all multiple choice. 5 discussion assignments, class survey, and an essay are involved in this class. Take it!

Young knows everything about politics. He is very smart and a great professor. His lectures are always organized and he doesn't get off topic. Class goes until the end and he did not cancel once. The class itself entails an overall comprehension of American Government that's split into four different sections with respective tests. Highly recommended! This course is an easy A as long as you put some kind of effort. Don't bother buying the book as all the answers are on the power points. Each chapter has a quiz and there's two finals. There is a research paper at the end which isn't too difficult. Overall, take his class if you are looking for a GPA booster.

He's extremely dull. Repeats information constantly, condescending, and a bit ethnocentric. Said it would be a discussion-based class, and that he hates the sound of his own voice, but if you missed that day you would never know it. All he does is talk, and constantly repeats information from previous sessions. Doesn't like when people get up.

Professor Young is pretty awesome. His class is PowerPoint based and his tests are derived from his notes. He's witty and will help with anything you need. The ONLY downside is that he loves to use every single minute of class, which is a problem if you have a class after his. I have to rush out in order to get to my next class on time.

Professor Young's Comparative Government class is one of the best classes I've taken. Lectures are structured and direct. No homework but you're expected to know what he covers in class for the exams. Do yourself a favor, study the map tests; they could save your grade. If you care about your performance, he cares. Professor Young is a Wonderful professor that is very fair and helpful. His class was enjoying to be in because he made it interesting with his stories and examples for government. He is strict with certain things like getting up and using cell phones, but if you can manage to not do that, the class is easygoing. Highly recommend for honors or not

I took this class online. It was very easy. It consists of 10 chapter quizzes, a midterm, final, research paper (5-7 pages) and a weekly discussion. Very easy and he emails you constantly to remind you of due dates. textbook is not required.

Professor Young is very straightforward in his lectures and his requirements. I knew exactly what I needed to do to achieve an A, yet I was unable to do so due to my laziness and stress built from other classes. I would definitely recommend him, just watch out because he is the Honors Director! Don't expect the class to be easy by any means.

Greatest professor on campus. This is the 2nd semester I take him, just because he is so helpfull, clear & intelligent. Makes this subj so fun learn! Great Professor. You take long notes everyday because your tests will be based on his lectures so try not to fall asleep. He's funny but sometimes forgets he already said a joke then you have to pretend you've never heard it and laugh just so it won't be awkward. Overall easy class just make sure to study your vocabulary words.

On the very first day of class he tells you when and what the final will be, a research paper about 5-7 pages long on a specific topic. You have 16 weeks to work on your final!! He gives you 4 tests and drops the lowest grade out of the four. No homework, very helpful study guides!! Study and you'll get an A for sure. He makes a lot of jokes.

I took this class online, so no need to buy the textbook. He posts the powerpoints on blackboard. Quizzes are based off the powerpoints and the midterm and final are questions from the quizzes. There are 5 discussion questions you should participate in, its graded. There is also a 5-7 page essay, which is pretty easy.

Colin Young should receive an award for MASTER LECTURER. Lets face it, political science is boring, but Colin Young finds his ways to make it interesting through lectures. I would recommend him to anyone. Just pay attention and study and you will receive an A. He is also the honors program coordinator so hes there to help with that too

Took it online simple and easy

Two exams (midterm and final with 1 hour time limit), one research paper (fairly easy), 5 discussion board questions (have to think a bit), and a quiz after every chapter. The quiz answers can be found in his powerpoints and most of these quiz questions show up on his exams. Replies fast to emails and gives frequent reminders on what is due.

Political Science fun? YOU BET! His syllabus is pretty clear as to what is expected. Let's face it. Before he starts lecture he goes over current world problems which allowed for real life connections to course material.

Took this class online and it was a breeze, I bought the textbook but did not really use it to much the power point lectures provide most of the information for the exams. Use your time wisely on the exams and quizzes as the time goes fast! Overall he is a awesome teacher and gives you the whole semester to write the class paper.

Great clear and informative lectures conveyed with a touch of self-deprecating and/or sarcastic humor. Provides plenty of exam prep and makes PP lecture available for review prior to exams. Paper was required when I took class and a reasonable number of options were made available. Extra credit also available, and plenty of support if needed.

Professor Young is so good! He has everything on the PowerPoint. Tests basically based on these notes. Before all four tests, professor handed out clear study guide, and notes uploaded online in case we missed any parts. He is really cared about student. He answers any question if he can and helps to lift students scores as much as he can.

The class is straight up. Here is some power point lecture notes. Here is a study guide, it has a lot of info. because the tests have a lot of questions. Mix of Multiple choice, fill in the blank and a map test. Do that three times with 8 different countries. Plenty of extra credit sprinkled over the tests. No final. Nothing Fancy, good job Young.

Professor Young was one of the best Political Science teachers in Rio Hondo College. He cares for students who care. His class is an easy A for those who care about the class. There's only four exams and one paper. I think notes don't have to be taken because he posts all notes when there's an upcoming exams. Overall, he's an awesome professor.

Honestly, easy class ! He provides all the lectures and it always active if you have any questions. Everything on his quizzes, midterm, and final is provided through his PowerPoints so you can always refer back to them. Also, quizlet is a big help !

Dr. Young also teaches POLS 130 and 140 at Rio Hondo and the classes are structured the same. He assigns reading accompanied with notes he will post on canvas. There is a quiz on each chapter, then a midterm and a final exam. There is also a course paper. Good class, I wish he provided video lectures of him further explaining the topics.

I enjoyed his lectures, he was really funny. The quizzes and tests are open note, which can be accessed on the online lectures he posts. Even if in person, all work is done online.

Professor Young is a great communicator, from writing assignments on the board to announcing upcoming deadlines. He has one big research paper I got a C on it and still managed to get an A with the extra credit opportunity he gave us. He has the answers to anything related to the class.

personally, I like the course and it's lectures. if you aren't super into the course, then it will be a very boring 1 1/2 lecture. he's funny with his little jokes and pokes at trump and his policies. maybe if you're a trump fan, don't take his class lol. super easy class tho, discussions and quizzes are online and not hard.
