Quizes are ok. But end of semster presntation must be on tranparencies.
She is an "ok" teacher. she isn't very clear on what will be on quizes sometimes. just study the night before the quizes and you'll get an "A". presentation at the end isn't too bad. Just make it look like you know what your doing.
She's fairly good looking, so the class goes by rather quickly.
Definitely pretty. Quizzes can be a little too detailed at times, but overall a fun teacher.
She's pretty laid back, but you really have to know alot of details for her quizzes. Also, yo have to do a presentation on overhead slides at the end. She's very beautiful, so it's not hard to show up and pay attention.
quizzes are a little too detailed but she's really nice and knows what she is talking about.
Yeah, okay- she's cute. But for a 101 lab, gimme a break! She was awesome as a person, but as for teaching...she knows too much about the material to try and simplify it for her 101's. Very smart- but very difficult.
it's an online class so only contact was through email. her slide shows are rediculous, it's all typed in texting language and alot of the info isn't in the book so you have to google it, scheduled the tests HORRIBLY, 3 tests and an exam some weeks, extremely biased information, tests made no sense. not suited as an online teacher.
I took this class as a freshmen in college. It was a great experience. Although some of the lab reports were a bit tedious, the lab experiments were fun. The quizzes were a not that difficult but if you did not study, then you will not do well on her test. I throughly enjoyed this class and the Professor is my favorite this semester. Take her class
She is a really laid back person. She doesn't breath down your neck while you do the labs but on the other hand, she doesn't help that much either. The lab reports take a while to complete but its relatively easy to do.
This class was useless and stupid. Do not take it! I thought I would be fun..but since its online, the quizes never correlated with the test...yet all the quizes were easy to google. You WILL fail the test....90% of the class never got higher than a C Choose something else esp. if your Gen ED. Waste of time.
She was a pretty good teacher. Her lectures are really boring but she goes over everything that is on the tests and quizzes. She also gave a few extra credit opportunities.
if you want to do well you will have to read the book. she is not very helpful or willing to work with students and the tests are hard. if you can take another professor, do.
I highly recommend this class for an easy 4 credit class. The tests are hard, probably got a C on everyone but the quizzes are super easy and will keep your grade up.
Higgins doesn't create any of the work on her own or based on the book/powerpoints. So it makes it difficult. Don't take her for lab. I took it with another teacher and got a 100%. She is very serious about the subject and not friendly. Overall, it was an easy 4 credit class. I'd recommend taking it online. She grades very, very slowly.
I learned a lot about biology in this class that I never knew before. Science is not my thing, but she made it clear and interesting. I did a lot better than I thought I would!
Good class. I learned a lot about the environmental issues. She was always prepared and guided class through material making it clear and easy to follow. Highly recommend it!
For our lectures if anyone laughed or a phone went off, she'd freak out. At one point she said to the class of 300, that we were worse then kindergarteners. She reads right off the slides, does not really answer questions, and gets quickly frustrated. Her quizzes are easy to google, but the test are 100 questions and really hard. DO NOT TAKE HER!
She seems like she has no idea what she is teaching, the only way I passed was by thoroughly reading the textbook. I really don't like her, she's rude and not helpful at all.
I did not mind this class at all but if you want an A in the class I would highly suggest attending SI sessions and reading the textbook. If you don't read the text you will not understand the material since she speeds through the lectures (as she states in the syllabus.) Tests are fair and quizzes are easy A's. Ok professor and overall good class.
4 exams and online Quizzes. If you miss a lecture your screwed! You definetly need the book and I highly recommend you read the chapters before the class. Sometimes she breezes through the slides so quickly you miss things because you have no idea whats she talking about, so READ THE CHAPTERS! If you pay attention and study Exams are almost easy!
Her voice is extremely monotone and it is almost impossible to pay attention. She goes over everything very quickly because it is so simple to her. You NEED to read your textbook and understand it completely - that is the only way to pass. 4 tests and 17 quizzes. This was the hardest class of my semester. Not impossible, but VERY hard.
Sweet woman but possibly the most boring, monotone professor you will ever have. Lectures feel 3 hours long because she lectures like she's reading directly out of the textbook. Flies through slides so your best bet is to take pictures on your phone then copy later. Eh exams, gives grades for attendance & online quizzes are easy. Read the textbook.
Despite what you may have heard about her, she is a nice woman when you are talking face to face with her. Online quizzes are easy and straight from the book. She is pretty clear about things and I found the tests were to be very straight forward, much easier than Carr's or other professors. She drops your lowest exam grade, god bless!!!!
Higgins is very monotone and because of this, difficult to listen to for an entire class. She also doesn't accept that the atomic number is the number of protons and electrons and will try to tell you that it's the number of protons and neutrons.
Terrible class. I got an A, but she made it difficult to do so. She is very unclear about assignments and takes 3 weeks to respond to emails. Very poorly laid out online class, I have had much better online professors. She made me dread doing the work and was not helpful at all. Would NOT recommend.
She knows her stuff, but she doesn't take much time to explain it. Her lectures are very long and a lil boring, and she just reads information off of powerpoints that are allin the textbook (which does a better job explaining than she does). I only ever went to class because she took attendance; the textbook saved my semester.
Lectures are vague but she does do review class before the tests which helps a lot. SI sessions are really good if you need to know everything for the tests. Tests are long and hard. I personally could not read the textbook so if you don't then make sure you pay extra attention to her powerpoint then.
Some people either seem to have good experiences or bad, she's very attentive, does reviews before every exam, online quizzes every so often, 4 exams and lowest one is dropped. just go to class and read the textbook its really not hard!
As a bio major, I took this course as a gen-ed after getting a 4 on the AP. It was very easy for me but for someone who is not biology oriented, this class may be pretty hard. Her voice is monotone. The online quizzes are open book but they almost always have very little to do with the lecture material. If you aren't a bio whiz, study hard!!
I don't listen in class, but since she uploaded all the lecture, I pretty much only studied those powerpoint and got an easy A.
Dr. Higgins was a great biology 101 professor! She explained everything very clearly, and what you didn't catch in class was easy to find in the text book. Biology 101 is an easy A if you keep up with studying and ask for help when you need it!
The best of the Biol 101 teachers. The lectures are kinda dull, just a lot of notes. Exams aren't too bad, drops the lowest exam. Far better than Carr. Uses tophat, makes taking notes easier, as you can go back if she goes too fast. I would recommend her for sure. But a little bit of effort and you can get a B.
This is an online class and she is never there for you. If you try to email her she will probably never reply back. The workload is really easy but it would be nice if a professor would email back.
Higgins is a nice enough lady. I've heard awful things about the other bio 101 teachers so she is probably the way to go. Very monotoned, just as miserable as we were in class. Deff read the book. She is terrible at emailing - very rude and can't spell to save her life.
Dr. Higgins was BY FAR the most boring biology professor I've had here. Even Dr. Greene (genetics currently) is better, and that's saying something. Her lectures are long, tedious, and completely monotoned. From the way she teaches I get the sincere impression that she hates what she is doing. Take it with a grain of salt, I'll get an A or B...
I can't say the class was easy or particularly interesting, but I did walk away at the end of the semester with a solid foundation on introductory biology. The tests aren't difficult if you pay attention to most of the lectures and (!!!)read your textbook(!!!). She curves exams and provides easy online quizzes to help your grade. Would recommend.
I think Higgins was a great professor. Sure, her lectures were a a little (okay, maybe A LOT) boring, but she was very clear on what you had to know for the tests. Also, after every exam, she would go through every question and explain what the correct answer was. (so helpful because some of these questions appeared on the final)
She is a great teacher but you have to pay attention and go to class because she takes attendance. It's important to study. You don't need the textbook, unless you want to use it to study and look at diagrams. It wasn't an easy A, but I learned so much.
Dr. Higgins is very structured. Due dates on online quizzes are clear, as well as what is going to be on the test. Make sure you read your book, don't just rely on the power points.
Very structured (lecture & class). She seems unapproachable in class, but if you get 1 on 1 with her, she's really nice and understanding. I would highly recommend going to her office hrs to go over your tests/quizzes.
Lecture's are boring but she's nice enough and willing to offer feedback. Read the chapters before lecture and visit office hours after each exam to see what questions you got wrong so you know what to study. Go to class!! Takes attendance daily with TopHat
Higgins is nice but Bio is hard and she doesn't make it all that easy. Her lectures are only accessible in class on the day she posts them so you have to show up. You have to be alert during class because she takes attendance on TopHat multiple times. Noteworthy also: Don't recommend this class if you do not have easy access to a laptop daily.
She uses TopHat so you can finesse attendance by getting the attendance code. You can miss up to 9 classes before it affects your grade. She's monotone. She rushes through powerpoint. Her test are hard but they're easy if you put in the effort and study. I didn't try and passed with a C. She also drops your lowest exam grade.
Class was pretty hard but I still recommend her for bio majors. You learn so much per lecture, because you can tell she knows what she's talking about and she connects ideas/topics. It sounds difficult because Bio IS difficult. Do not slack off! SI didn't work for me but be sure to study and DO THE QUIZZES. Notes on Tophat. Tests are killer!!
I don't know why most people do not like Higgins, I found the class the be very easy, as long as you are willing to study and attend SI. Quizzes are very similar to the test, so if you do good on the quiz, most likely you will do good on the test. Quizlet is also helpful. Drops lowest test. Final is just repeated questions from exams. Recommend!
She taught BIO 103 online. The lectures she pre-recorded were terrible quality, the assignments showed poor planning and clearly taken off of other websites. Half of the labs she set up didn't work and the lecture or book had nothing to do with the graded assignments or labs. She also won't update grades for the class the entire semester.
Book is required for this course because that is what the quizzes are on. Online lectures are ok, the powerpoints are oftentimes 100+. Teacher barely replied when you asked her questions via email and hardly was in her office for her office hours. If this is your first online class or you do not do well in online classes, DO NOT TAKE THIS ONE.
Honestly, couldn't stand her. This class was Online and lecture and she "taught" the lecture portion. She annoyed me honestly. I emailed her for help and she responded "Look for it"... but anyways don't bother buying a textbook cause you really don't need it at all
More work than any of my upper level classes as a senior. Ridiculous. Way too much material to learn for the weekly quizzes and 4 exams (3 hour long videos/assgt.) Some quizzes would be 25 ques. and others 65! I never reviewed any of the material she uploaded I just looked online for answers b/c it was too much reading and HW. Don't recommend!
Very very hard class. Best to attend SI sessions if you want to do well. Lecture heavy class. Test are kind of difficult and shes very monotone. Good luck
Avoid, at all costs. Unnecessarily hard for a 101 level course. Lecture heavy, does not utilize text book, which is only "supplemental". Quizzes do not sync up with lectures, tests do not sync up with lectures. Practically impossible to utilize traditional study methods for, you have to attend special SI sessions to get any clue. Avoid!
While she does lecture the whole class she has no issue answering questions throughout and she presents the material in an understandable and relatable manner. Also, when it comes to breaks she is very lenient on attendance often giving attendance freebies for those who have to travel home for breaks, she genuinely cares about her students' welfare
There really isn't an option not to pass. She gives plenty of grade buffers and will help you however you need. Her tests aren't too lengthy and she goes over what will be on them the class before.
Good professor, just reads off the powerpoint. I used my textbook twice the semester. Don't buy it, borrow your friends thats in the class.
Her notes, lectures, textbook don't help with the tests and quizzes.
YOU NEED TO WORK HARD TO RECEIVE AN A IN THIS COURSE. Having background knowledge in Bio is very helpful. Attendance taken on tophat. Memorize and UNDERSTAND powerpoint(tests are based off lectures). If you do not understand something, she is very willing to explain during office hours or before or after class. Study hard
From what I gather, Higgins is the best of the bio profs. That being said, her class is too difficult for a 101 class. Tests do not measure up from quizzes or PPT lectures. Very difficult tests. Most students never score above a C. Someone finished the class with a 20% in my class. Attendance is mandatory. Boring lectures, not interactive.
She wasnt the best professor and there are definitely worse bio professors at VCU. The information is hard and the exams go into to detail. Theyre all multiple choice so she makes them tough. Youll need the book to understand everything for exam.
She does not teach, she just gives you the information and it's expected to understand how to apply the knowledge in a higher level than presented. Material is very interesting but she could have done a better job presenting it so that I actually want to continue in the biology field.
imo, dont even bother buying a textbook. really understand her pptx cuz i've talked to her before and asked my opinion about her tests, she told me dont over read on the textbook cuz she's pretty much takes stuff from her slides. i trusted her and . pulled off an A.
I rarely came to class. She takes attendance on TopHat, so I just asked my friends in the class to send me the code. I read the textbook and came to class on exam days. She's extremely monotone in her lectures, and she's actually a little rude. Just read the textbook and you should pass.
This was the worst class I've ever taken. I can't even explain how much I hated this lab. Prof was wrong in lecture, test answers were SO specific, tests took a full hour in a 50 min time block, labs took forever and were SO boring, cumulative final, and mandatory tophat attendance. Awful lab, 0/10, stay away forever (you don't even learn anything)
Well this class wasn't fun at all. Just the way she gives lectures are just straight from the powerpoint instead of explaining it to us to understand. She is a very hard grader (even the tests are hard) and all we even have to show up to class because of the tophat attendance.
Not a good professor. Reads straight from the slideshow. I had her in lecture format and online and they were both awful. Doesn't seem all the way "there". Super monotone. I'd pick another professor.
She reads word for word from her lectures, but doesnt actually TEACH the material to her students, there's no interaction. You have to eat, sleep, and breathe biology in order to pass her class. Her exams are based on your knowledge of the material and applying it to everyday scenarios. Attendance is taken through tophat
Hasn't responded to any of my emails, goes through lectures very sketchily. GET THE TEXTBOOK IF YOU WANT TO LEARN anything!!! She does a very poor job of explaining things and the tests are hard. I'm only a few weeks into this class and have already had a mental breakdown. SWITCH OUT OF HER CLASS IF YOU CAN
Higgins is very monotone and doesn't really elaborate. Show up for class because if you start missing classes, your grade will be affected. You don't need the book but it may help. Anything she says in class isn't that much more helpful because she repeats whats on the slides. A ton of online quizzes, but they're all on quizlet so they're easy A's.
Higgins teaches as if the course is just a refresher course. She lectures heavily but it is not very helpful. The textbook was a big help for me, I took the exam outlines and flipped through the book to answer them instead of using the notes. The quizzes are all online and you can find them on quizlet. attendance is a grade so show up!
All she does is lecture, give online quizzes and in-person tests. Attendance is a grade but you can skip and be fine tbh. At a certain point in the semester, I was just going for attendance instead of the lecture. I would learn more at SI sessions than in class so I recommend going to those. The textbook isn't mandatory but will help u study a lot.
Lots of material on each test. Quizzes after each main topic. Attendance in marathon SI sessions prior to tests helps out. Rarely used the text book for the class. Tophat was used for the class and is an additional cost and has the eTextbook on there.
She mostly just repeats off the slides in a monotone voice, youll have to teach yourself the material. Every now and then quiz questions will be things shes never mentioned but she told me specifically to not read the book because she pulls everything from the lectures. Shes not the worst but if science is hard for you Id get another professor
lots of people say she's awful, but the real tea is that if you go to class, take notes and be attentive and remain interested (forcefully or not) there should be no reason for you to not earn the grade that you want. She is a good professor but get ready to teach yourself a few concepts that she might be a little too quick when trying to summariz
Go to the lectures!!! She takes attendance every single time and sometimes more than once, like at the beginning and the end. The quizzes are a good way to keep your grade up.
There was actually no book for my class, but that's why you need to study the material she has on tophat. Miss class and only sign-in? You won't learn a single thing. Okay-ish with explaining concepts and material prepping you for tests, but I would DEFINITELY go to SI sessions. Some things don't make sense no matter how many times its exaplined
Attendance is important (!!!) & it's taken every class, but she's reasonable with it and knows you won't be able to come to EVERY class (I think she allows 5 absences?). Lectures are dry, so bring a snack and ditch the distractions. GO TO THE SI SESSIONS and study! study! study! If you don't review the material before an exam, you won't pass.
Everything everyone else said-- and save your coins because you definitively don't need the textbook
I liked this class because there is lots of homework so if you aren't good at testing, you can make up for that. It is never an excessive amount, though. The tests/ class are on online. This means that quizlet is your friend. Just be very on top of deadlines. Definitely glad that I took this class.
I took her class for Environmental Science. The class is online and fairly easy. MAKE SURE YOU SIGN UP FOR PEARSON CORRECTLY. However, good luck trying to get ahold of the professor. She either takes forever to answer or will have someone else answer for her.
Do not take Colleen Higgins for BIOL 101. She reads word for word powerpoint slides, and bases the tests off of information only provided audibly during lecture. Her online quizzes aren't too hard, but they don't count for too much the grade. TopHat the minute class starts AND ends.
Do not take BIOL 101 with her. She isn't good at teaching the info and doesn't care to explain the material. The quizzes are very simple but they don't effect your grade much. The tests are nothing like the material presented during lecture and the "study guides" don't match the test material either. You're better off taking it with someone else.
She's very nice but she reads straight off the slides which are nearly identical to the textbook so don't buy it!! She also reads in a monotone voice so if you struggle to keep focus you'll have a hard time. She explains topics in the most difficult way so definitely subscribe to the amoeba sisters on youtube because that's how I passed her class.
If you have taken AP Bio or have done really well in Biology before her class, you will be fine. If not be prepared to do the absolute most. Her classes are lecture and powerpoint heavy. She expects you to have already read the chapter before showing up to class. The tests are concept based. So prepare for the class, attend S.I and tutoring.
Shes a nice lady who knows whats he stalking about. If your class requires a textbook, that textbook is your best friend! Her in-class lectures are just far too broad and vague to use as your sole studying component for tests. Quizzes were online and relatively easy (if you read the chapter beforehand!) but remember, Quizlet is also your friend
I took 3 levels of bio before this so I was at the subject. I thought it was really easy considering how lenient her test policies are. If you are new to bio, it is all about how much you put into it because her lectures can't make you smarter, you have to put the work in. Biology is a memorization subject, you can't expect logic to be your friend.
Dr. Higgins was good. I was in environmental science, and we had class like every three weeks. Most of it was actually online, as well as exams and projects. Honestly, I was lucky because i didnt read a single thing or study and still got a B. Exams were super easy, I got a B on the midterm and Final. Id recommend
Colleen does not care about her students. PERIOD. I took her for a 2 credit lab. when classes were shifted online for COVID-19, she never replied to emails, she made exams and quizzes so much harder. she is just very rude and refuses to take students feedbacks into consideration. She does not give EC or round the course. stay away!!!!!
THE WORST LECTURER. Extremely boring and monotone. Her lectures are so broad and almost do not relate to the tests she gives. Shes a nice but so boring. Quizzes were taken from home, but tests were actual hell. Did not retain anything from her lectures. Even after TUTORING, still failed tests. Dont take her especially if youre a STEM major.
She's not a good professor, Bio is my best subject and I barely got a B, even though I studied, went to every class, and went to extra study sessions and still struggled.
If S.I is offered... GO also you will need a tutor. The questions are conceptual so simply knowing what everything means will not cut it. Attend office hours immediately if you are struggling.
This prof is lost. she doesn't know what she's doing. Her tests require math work yet she gives little time and a bunch of questions. A 2 credit lab section SHOULD NOT be this difficult and frustrating to be in/learn. I would not recommend anyone to take her. Im not a slacker at all, this lady will maker your grade suffer. DONT DO IT!
Incredibly disorganized professor with little sympathy for the current circumstances. TAs are either lost and don't know what they're doing or on some power trip. The grading is so subjective and slow you won't even know where you stand in the class. For the sake of your sanity please don't take this class unless it's absolutely necessary.
Not even exaggerating when I say she is the worst professor I have encountered in my entire life between school and college. I truly cannot believe she is even allowed to teach, she makes you do wayyy too much work for a 2-credit class and will never own up to her own mistakes. She doesn't care at all about student concerns. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Dr. Higgins is easily one of the worst professors I have taken at VCU. She will straight up ignore student emails and this course has an INSANE amount of work for a two credit class. She grades so harshly and tries to trick you on questions. When the TAs complain to her that questions werent fair she wont budge. Do not take a course with her.
Avoid this professor. Her tests are impossible with not enough time to answer entirely short answer and calculation questions, and you cannot go back or skip ahead through questions. She never answers emails. She does not supervise the TA's so a lot of them are not great and can do whatever they want.
DONT TAKE IT W DR. H! 1. it's a 2 credit class, she tells you treat it like a 3 credit 2. she does not email back 3. you will have a final exam, a final paper, and a final presentation. 4. her tests r easy but they r lengthy, require calculation, can't go backwards, and you NEVER have enough time 5. Her TA's r careless and grade unrealistically
Awful teacher and class. My TA as a graduate student said this is graduate level despite being 300. The professor doesn't put effort into the class, moves too fast, consistently unnecessarily confuses you for simple questions, is unorganized, and wastes your time and GPA with difficult or tangential things. This is harder than ochem lab. Avoid.
Do not take Professor Higgins' class if you value your GPA, especially if you are pre-health and need the good bio grade to get into your program. Granted, the tests are open note, however, the notes and lectures are very barebones and will not help you. She also doesn't answer emails. I took tutoring for this class and still struggled greatly.
She made the in-person class hybrid so that students could choose and she drops the lowest test and quiz grades. However, she doesn't respond to emails and her test questions sometimes feel like they come out of nowhere. I don't recommend her class, but she's not completely awful.
Honestly, I enjoyed the fact that my lowest exam grade was dropped and that there were so many opportunities for extra credit. However, the real nails-on-a-chalkboard thing about this class is the lectures because of how long and (for lack of a better word) boring they are. Easy concepts felt really overcomplicated. Wouldn't recommend it.
Makes it actively difficult to attend class if not in person. Terrible teacher.
The amount of work required for this 2-credit class is literally INSANE. Half of the class withdrew from bio310 lab, you immediately fail the lab portion of this class if you miss two classes. The ta's don't careless about how you do in class, they grade very strictly. There are weekly quizzes for the lab when you come to class. don't, take it!
This lab is 2cr when it should be 3 due to the amount of work put into labs and papers! My TA and preceptor made this class bearable b/c they were very helpful. There is a quiz every lab, but she tells you what to study during lecture. This semester we only did 1 paper, but it was very time consuming and intensive. You do learn cool lab skills.
If you already have a hard time in genetics, do not take the lab with this professor. Her lectures consist of rereading slides and testing you on material that was never performed in lab. The exams and the effort put into explaining the concepts do not match. Also it is very hard to get in contact via email.
I did hybrid class. Lectures are optional. pros most grades are done canvas quizzes and activities are easy Labs are fun cons answers are on google right down to the typos a lot of reading leaves work to the TA not present in labs boring lectures $ textbook with no used option many questions not even in textbook Don't take this class!!!
This lab is literally just 2 credits but most of the grade is made up of quizzes every lab period (every week), 3 exams, and 2 scientific papers. Grading is also done by TAs and my TA was late on everything so I did not know what I had in the class until finals week while other people with different TAs knew ahead of time. Worst decision ever.
Avoid!! Higgins does not care about her students, even when you bring up an issue with how unprofessional her TA is. She will claim you are questioning the TA's unprofessionalism because of the person's race in front of Franklin. Now the TA is falsely reporting a student and trying to hide evidence. They shouldn't still have a job.
Will ignore your emails on purpose I realized this during the semester and emailed several times to get a sassy reply she claimed I was wrong on a test grade question that I was clearly right on according to the answer key didn't change it bet she didn't even look at it and didn't reply when I explained further it was right per answer key AVOID!!!!
worst professor, disappointed when i took her last semester and i ended up with a D. didn't put a grade for my paper and just put in finals grades. When emailed, she ghosted me. Also followed me to the bathroom and privacy invasion. TA joonseung kim is lazy racist, you dont even get your tests back. if you fail to come to lab 2 times, you get a F
Do not take this teacher, she does not reply to your emails and her assignments come out of nowhere and you get 0 help, take any other quant teacher.
Do not take her, take any other bio teacher, she does not reply to her emails and does not communicate, does not care and her assignments have wrong answers, I am a top student with 98% being my lowest grade but this class is bs.
Do not take her, take any other bio teacher, she does not reply to her emails and does not communicate, does not care and her assignments have wrong answers.
Please fire her, vcu is actually not doing its job.
For a 2 credit lab this class is more work than my 4 credit classes. 3 papers, 3 exams (which are all free response), and lot of pre lab& post lab work.
Alyssa Darling is the best TA in genetics labs out of all the other ones. A lot of writing in class and outside of class as well. There is one scientific paper and two smaller papers in total, these have heavy grading criteria. Tests are straightforward and she tells you what she wants.
Monotone and does not care about helping students even if they have excused absences. Very unreasonable when it comes to expectations from students.
Genuinely so much work and studying for a two credit class Take any other lab this is not worth it
Very lecture heavy and a lot of reading. The assignments are fairly easy and the schedule is consistent all semester. course was pretty boring but not that stressful.
This class requires a lot of work for a 2-credit lab. Expect frequent quizzes, exams, and multiple papers. The TAs can be hit or miss, and the professor isn't always responsive. Utilize resources like unstuck AI and the free textbook to stay on top of the workload.
3 12-20 page exams. A 10pg paper, a review paper with 3-4peer review parts to it. She is a terrible teacher. Makes the class super hard. Harder than my 500 level class. She is condescending. Dont do it.
If you're okay with being left in the dark, receiving translucent instructions at best, and post lab complications, I would advise heavily against taking this class. Everything was out of order in the lab manual and you have to hope your TA is helpful enough to provide any form of communication. Unnecessarily convoluted for a 2 credit class.
The professor is not understanding by any means and it's too much work for a 2 credit class.
