A bit offbeat, but overall not too bad... all her quizzes are relatively easy, and the major tests (midterm/final) are a compilation of all the quizzes
This professor was boring and didn't appear to be into her job. She made us wear a name tag throughout the WHOLE semester and if you didn't wear it, you wouldn't receive participation points for that day. Very anal on a bunch of pointless, trivial things.
This professor taught us as if we were kindergarteners. The name tags were ridiculous and the material was pointless. She even made us throw a ball to other classmates to answer questions. The most ridiculous class ever!
Dr Moss may be a little dry, but her lectures are very clear. I learned a lot from her class. The tests were very fair. I'm a graduate student now, and teach a developmental class. I find myself looking over notes from her class to prepare my lectures
her class is a waste of time! i didnt learn anything and she'd make us sign in everytime for attendance....the nametag gotta go!
She is boring and extrememly anal. She seems very bitter and talks down to students.
This is the worst professor I have had. I didn't learn a thing. She actually thought her small group activities taught us about group collaboration. Be ware take another class if you want to learn anything
I learned A LOT in her class, and from her. I went and visited her a couple of times at her office and just talking to her about class and everything helped me big time. One of my Favorite Professors at CSUSM.
I just started this semester in her class, and because of these ratings I didn't want to take her class. But so far I like her much more than any of my other professors. She is clear, precise, easy to talk to, makes you think, name tags are just so she..
Dry... Her tone and attitude is that of dissinterest, the content of the class is great though. And I like the name tags...
She can be boring at times but can also have some interesting lectures. Her test are hard, but she lets us use notes which helps out A LOT.
Good teacher but sometimes a little boring!
waste of time, boring class, dont really learn anything, but easy credits to fulfill requirements as long as you go to class and do the work
monotone. she lacks character. but a requirement is a requirement. i especially didnt like the modules. it did however create some variety in our class activities, but that was about it. didnt really learn anything in that class though.
Very dry and boring. Also very rigid. She makes it very noticable who her favorite students are and who she doesn't like.
i almost dropped this course because of the ratings on moss, but i got lazy so i took it. I was glad i took her class because everything was easy! boring at times, but easy for all you lazy people who do ur work at the last minute. i really did learn some life learning skills and interesting things
Boring at times. She always take attendance. You know when she has favorties. They're are 5 pop quizzes and about 9 journal entries altogether, that you can normally wait til the last minute to do.
very difficult to get along with. no sense of humor, anal, mean professor. do not ever take her if you want to pass!!
interesting class! some of the comments are a little harsh, if you come to class and pay attention you will do fine.
so boring. easy enough but not worth wanting to pass out every 5 seconds. didnt learn anything. its all common knowledge, redundant, and did i mention BORING.
Great teacher! Extremely helpful, always offering advice when needed. Easy class, easy A.. definitely a good choice for easy credits!
First appearance, she looks strict and mean. But her class is very easy because it's all common sense. She is strict on attendance and class participation. There is never any homework, just major assignments such as journals.
Dr. Moss rocked! she was extremely helpful and catered to any students needs. wasn't the most interesting class but they can't all be winners.
A great class to take in your first semester. Dr. Moss take what appears to be a hardline but if you come to class and partcipate you should do fine. There are a few modules taught by other individuals. Overall great teacher who really cares about her students.
This is a fun and interesting class, she taked attendance everyday so if you don't like to come to class don't take her. Her lectures are very structured and easy to understand. She is a great teacher and always there to help you.
she is freakin awsome!!!!!

Its so frinkin boreding...theres nothing to do but sleep and I would have to say she doesnt do a very good job of making it intresting
This class was surprisingly alot of fun ! She made it very interesting and the great thing was she is very lenient on grading. The only bad thing was that you had to do the reading in order to pass the POP QUIZES. But overall it was a great class
You learn a lot about yourself in this class, if u don't like to think don't take it. Show up, study a little and listen then u will pass with a good drade too! She's very helpful just go see her.Thought she was a GREAT teacher :)
This was my favorite class, Dr. Moss is very helpfull, and I learned a lot of valuable information. I highly recommend this class.
great teacher but very hard grader. good luck.
Horrible teacher very opinionated!!
Most boring class I have ever taken. Wanted to fall asleep all the time, seriously. She is helpful but the material is so not interesting. Unless you like to sit and listen to ur prof talk the entire time then take this class. Too mcuh writing for a boring class.
This class was freaking hard....interesting, but she made it hard. Really, really opinionated. I dont know how i feel about the class.....definately a little harder than i thought it would be and she is an all work no play kind of person. Goodluck!!
Her class is pretty easy for the most part. She has 6 quizzes you can drop one of the scores and one group project and the final. You have to go to class, she counts attendence. She is not very nice.
This class is extremely boring and she makes it worse. It's an easy A but she takes attendance and gives pop quizzes so you have to show up.

Very boring, very opinionated. easy class, but she takes role and give pop quizzes. this class sucked, but as long as you do the papers and show up, you should be alright. she is not easy to reason with.
so boring!
I felt as if she treated the class as high school students. She lectured at us for not raising our hands and participating as much as she wanted, she would get upset if the attendance was low, and she would constantly mention how it was important to see her in her office hours. She seems like a nice woman but I would not recommend taking her class
No Comments
she's one of a kind. Try's to analyze her students and tells you what might be wrong with you, like she really knows. Listen to the comment below.
treated students like they were in high school, zero tolerance on missing class, no matter what the reason was, would not recommend her
Her first test is hard. For some reason the rest are open notes. She wants you to participate in class but yet she snaps at you when you do! Her lectures are boring. This class could have so much more interesting.
She treats students like they are in High school, she is not friendly, rude and she is hard to get along with. It will be a waste of you time to take her classes because you wont learn anything. Its not worth your tuition money! I could have tought this class better, it was all common sense. If you are a Psyc major this NOT challenging at all.
Easy class, just show up and pay attention. Reading is not needed to pass the pop quizes. Class is boring though, be prepared.
I thought she was a great professor! As long as you go to class and actually pay attention you should do fine. I wrote all the papers the night before and A+ them! She's interesting and likes what she teaches. Take her if you can
She says she respects other peoples opinion but she doesnt. She's boring and annoying
Her class is pretty easy, you just need to stay on top of all the reading and take notes in class when she gives any. Pay attention to her lectures and you'll do fine in the class. If something isn't clear, you can visit her during her office hours.
I rarely got bored in this class. Professor Elise really got the whole class involved in her lectures/discussions. She's not a hard grader and she's pretty understanding when you talk to her outside of class. Unfortunately she comes off as strict and intimidating in class. She also puts way too much emphasis on attendance.
She has a god complex. If she doesnt like your answers when participating, she will shut you down. Not a very inspiring teacher at all.
Dr Moss is difficult if you dont attend class or her office hours, or dont participate in class. These things are most important to her. Shes actually very understanding if you get to know her. She is a difficult grader but gives students several oppurtunities to meet for papers and tests. Read the material and show up like any other college class
Like some of the prev rev, Dr. Moss probably could come across as tough,mean/hard,& cold, but I think she expects you to have self-initiative. I can see how a lot of people might not like her class but try to go in it open-minded & it's not too bad!She takes attendance & beware:bunch of pop quizzes! Pay attention in class & participate! Good class!
shes pretty intense in class, you feel like shes constantly analyzing you! just participate a little bit but beware of the lame pop quizzes that are pretty tough! one big paper and final! could be worse
wow, i thought i was harsh! she is not a bad teacher at all, she tries her best to help everyone understand and is very nice, she just expects you to at least pay attention. its not super easy but not hard at all
Dr. Moss is a very professional teacher. She expects you to pay attention during lecture and do the reading when assigned. Quizzes are easy as long as you take good notes in class. Attendance and participation in class discussion is mandatory for a good grade. Overall she knows her stuff and gives an interesting class.
Moss is a very hypocritical teacher. She says that she wants to hear your thoughts but in the end she just doesn't care about your thoughts. Must think her way to get a good grade. Read the whole book and take good notes to get good grade. Participate and come to class to get a good grade. Tough, but if you want to take it then good luck!
Cut, the woman some slack, she just lost her husband, Professor Wahlund (see Wahlund) at our school who works in the Biology Department. She is going through a lot right now. Sometimes people act in a certain way that can offend you, but you have to realize maybe this person has lost someone or is having a bad day. So, think first then judge :)
Tests are hard, end of semester project is ridiculous, asking for way too much. Asks what's new with the students every day when she won't tell us a thing about herself. Expects too much out of her class. Made the class a burden. It could be taught in a better way.
She was an amazing teacher. She is very interested in the lives of her students and always has a very positive demeanor. I loved her and hope to take another class from her soon!
her class wasnt too bad, tests are based of the powerpoints reading the book helps for the tests. the end of the semester project was a little extensive and kind of asking a lot of the students but overall the class was okay
Hmmm what to say, you have to put a lot of effort, go to class, READ THE BOOK, your grade is based on 3 test and a paper. Take at your own risk
Prof. Moss is amazing. She is by far my favorite teacher at Cal State. She knows her stuff and she keeps you interested in the topic. 2 exams, a paper and a end of the year project. Show up everyday and take good notes and this class will be no problem.
Great Professor! No busy work and the quizzes were pretty easy if you went to class. 1 big paper and 1 end of semester group project. She uses questions from the quizzes to make the final. She is very helpful and cares about her students. I hope to take a class with her again in the future.
Professor Moss was one of the most considerate and understanding professors I have had. She really does care to hear about what is going on in your life...and that is nice to know :)
Professor Moss is very nice yet strict and stern. She is very organized and prepared. One short paper, one "research" paper on Life Lessons, one group project, three quizzes, and one final exam. She does take attendance every day so Go to class & pay attention to detail...
Professor Moss is organized and prepared. Her class is relatively easy; one paper, a couple short assignments, and 3 quizzes and final exam. Her quizzes are multiple choice but easy to get confused on. She grades everything really quickly. So you'll get you'll get grades back asap. You must go to class every day... attendance is mandatory.
She is kinda strict, she has her T.A. grade papers, then she herself grades them, then she double grades again! she only based the grades from 3 tests, a research paper, and that's it. I wouldn't recommend her.
GET OUT WHILE YOU STILL CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is a great teacher. Very helpful and into the subject. It is a hard course though because there are only 3 quizzes and 2 papers which your grade is based on...and a final. Attendance is mandatory though and that should help your grade!
I ended up with an A in the course! However, only because I have worked and studied very hard. There are only 3 quizzes, 2 papers and a final. The subject is interesting though and she is a very great professor.
I don't want to say this class is an easy A,but in order to get an A it requires some work. Make sure you attend all the classes and for the full length, because you get points just by doing that. Participate often!! Overall she is a fun teacher, this is an interesting class, and you will get an A as long as you study.
very very dry. She is informative, if you can stay awake. She does not let anything slide and is strict. Class was ok, lots of group work, papers and listening skills are required because she will talk at you the entire semester.
great class! fun and informative.. easy A, exams are multiple choice in a class of 120people
She is an awesome professor, do the readings and speak up in class and you will do great. She has a sense of humor for the most part and willing to listen to your questions. Just make sure you dont repeat yourself and honestly... just read what she tells you. You will get a good grade and she pays attentiont to those who keep up with the readings.
Overall this class was easy. You need to write a paper on a book you have to read but it isn't that hard. She is pretty clear with all of the material but boring at times. She doesn't want to be called anything other than Dr. Moss either.
She's a pretty good professor, attempts to learn everyone's names & get students to value their learning. However, disliked that there were only 2 midterms and a final, would have liked 3 midterms & disliked the way she graded tests, only had to miss a few q's to drop a letter grade. Also critical when grading term paper.
She seemed very nice at the beginning of the semester, but then had a major attitude change. Only had 2 midterms & 1 final. Was NOT clear about what she wanted for our paper & it's worth 100 points. The subject material is interesting, but did NOT like the professor.
Boring classes. Hard to sit through lectures. I don't want to say she was rude, but more shrewd. Seemed approachable. Didn't agree with reading material. However pretty easy quizzes and final
Not the best class I have taken. It was hard to stay focused throughout the entire lecture. Pretty easy class but the professor made everything complicated even if it wasn't. It was her way or the highway. There is two papers, three quizzes, and a final.
I enjoyed her class, she likes to have the class participate in her discussions of quotes, theories, etc. The quizzes are pretty easy if you attend class and read. One paper about a very interesting book. Overall good quality.
Very nice and not a boring class but she doesn't seem to care about her students much. If you go to office hours she isn't helpful and doesn't give much effort to you individually. The name tags are stupid. It's easy and interesting though.
So here is the thing, she is pretty negative a lot of times, but I learned a lot in her class. Since going to class is mandatory the quizzes were really easy and it didn't have hardly any questions from the textbook. I recommend her it's a pretty easy class if you are willing to pay attention and do the few homework assignments.
I enjoyed the majority of this class. I do recommend taking her. The only thing I did not appreciate was the fact that I thought I had done a lot better on my final than what the grade book had said. I emailed her 3 times and she did not respond to me at all. I found that to be rude and stressful. Overall, she's a good professor though.
I'm a psych major and she manages to make everything boring even for me. Drabbles through lecture with a facade of care for your learning. Makes you summarize a research paper for your final paper to "boost your understanding of research papers," but regurgitating a paper? Surely she could've thought of something that's actually interesting...
There were only three exams and a final paper, which made it very frustrating to receive a good grade. Her lectures are interesting, but the final paper is not helpful in connecting to the course. Exams were mostly focused on lectures, so attendance is mandatory.
Not a Psych major, but I find it interesting. I enjoyed this class. There aren't many grades- 2 papers; one long, one short that's extra credit, and three tests + final. She values participation and is serious about attendance (sign in sheets, etc). She can be a bit curt and it can come across as rude, though.
Overall I think she is a good teacher, however she only bases your grade off of 3 tests and a paper. Her tests are super hard and she doesn't curve very much. She is nice, I recommend going to her office hours for help. Go to class or else you are screwed. Good Luck!!
this is a large class size. attendance is mandatory she makes you sign in and turn in a reflection of what you liked in each class. there are 3 quizzes 1 final 1 paper and another little one page paper on your favorite quote/lyric. overall she is an okay professor.
Attendance is mandatory and she makes you sign in each class and write a short reflection at the end. She lets the class out early every time. There aren't many opportunities for points in the class (1 paper, 3 quizzes, final, participation and 10 points extra credit). But overall if you pay attention and study for the quizzes you will be fine!
She doesn't care about her students like she claims she does. Refused to schedule to meet with me outside of office hours even though they all overlapped with my other classes. Wouldn't let me argue quiz questions which I could prove to be different than her opinionated answers. Class would have been more enjoyable with different instructor.
Shes nice but she isnt very helpful& rarely open to opinion. doesnt directly answer questions. she made a class that should've been alot easier...way harder. 3 exams, they are very applied questions. her study guides are vague. if you take her just know how to apply EVERYTHING. take notes on what she is saying not what is on PP and look @ PP later.
If you are lazy, don't like to be mentally challenged, or don't pay attention in class, this class isn't for you. You actually learn a ton of things in this class that you will take with you. You have super easy read with both the text book and the book report and the material covered in class isn't too difficult to understand. Not easy but doable.
The most awful, closed minded professor you could imagine. Rude to students and created a hostile learning environment in which students are afraid to contribute to discussions because she is so critical. She constantly knocks students down and embarrasses them without even giving them a chance to make their claim. I hated the class so much.
She didn't seem too nice at first, but she warms up a bit. Quizzes aren't too hard if you read over the notes and book.
A very harsh Professor. She does not have any sympathy so do not ask for any. Make sure to do the assigned reading and to take notes. If you review it should be fine. Since it is a critical thinking class I thought there would be many answers to questions and theories. However you must think like Dr. Moss in her class.122
For a teacher who talks a lot about what makes a good teacher, she isn't much of one. Not only did feel uncomfortable during class but she made me feel inferior to her. She was especially hypocritical - like how she mentioned teachers should get to know and remember the names of the students, but asked us every class to bring out name tags...
She is very inspirational about this class in particular and LITERALLY follow what she says when talking about the big paper.
She is very inspirational about this class in particular and LITERALLY follow what she says when talking about the big paper. You need the books to read the chapters and the other pretty easy book you need to write the paper.
STAY AWAY. Assigned a paper as a huge part of our grade and didnt grade it herself. TA did. then she wont fix it if you think its unfair. Dont say anything that she doesnt believe in because shell make you feel STUPIDembarrass you. Class is pointless and tests are worded in ways she never uses in lecture. Common sense, 100% boring. Very rude.
This class was not what I expected. It's a very outspoken learning environment where the professor wants students to contribute their thoughts and points of views yet criticizes them for their beliefs. She doesn't care about her students and embarasses them. Definitely do not recommend her or this class.
HORRIBLE! Hardest class I have taken at Cal State, test are barely what we talk about in class, never take her
She is a very judgmental person. You have to read the book if you want a good grade. There is one long paper, must go talk to her about the paper in order for you to know what she wants., the rubric is unclear. Attendance is important , must sign in and write a reflection at the end of class in order to make sure you were there
I actually really enjoyed this class. I realized that people who had very closed minds tended to hate this class. Go in with an open mind because thats what the whole class is about. She gives test and quizzes that you MUST study for using both the book and in-class notes. Don't make stupid comments in class because she doesnt take it well.
Loved Dr. Moss, great professor. She may seem scary at first but isn't so bad. You have a 1 page paper (Super easy) on your favorite quote & you present if your name is called. 1 (5 page min) paper on a book (which I loved). You write a reflection at the end of class every day and quizzes are not hard if you study. We always get out 15 min early.
Easy. You don't have to get the textbook to read. Gives 3 quizzes and are mostly based on lectures. There's a 2 page paper due at the beginning and calls 2 people to present that paper everyday.I never got called. Got credit. there's a 4 page paper on life lessons(read). I read the book a week b4 it was due and received an A (use a lot of book info
This class was not a very difficult class, but professor Moss made it difficult. Your grade is based off of 4 tests and a paper, and the study guides she gave us were not helpful at all! If you can take this class with another professor i would recommend you do so!
Lectures are really long and boring and she expects you to participate. Very easy to fail even if you studied everything because quizzes are less than 20 questions long. Sometimes feels like she is telling you why your thinking is wrong but tries to say that there is a better way of thinking, etc.
