she is great little fast but very helpful .... just a great person and prof.
Wonderful teacher! Really cares about her students and is always willing to help. You have to work hard, but that's the way it should be.
This teacher is extremly hard. By far the worst teacher. If you want to struggle throughout the semester than take her class. Shetty is a much better teacher. though he isnt to much a head
This class is super hard if you havent taken chemistry before, she talks bout teh stuff but never explains it and goes really fast.
WOW! She flies through the material! Helpful if you have questions and in lab. Nice woman, good personality. HARD HARD HARD tho!!! Be ready to study, and get extra help if you need it!

Homework assignments are optional, but do help to do. Great prof. Easy to talk to. Would recommend her to anyone.
Dr. P is a great teacher. She cares about you and how you do in her class. I hated chem before her, now i kinda like it. She is a great professor all around!
Great class. I wasn't interested in Chemistry before the class, but she made it interesting and easy to learn. Very nice and open to questions.
She talks very softly, so sometimes it is hard to hear her ; very helpful if you ask, otherwise it is assumed you can do it; great in lab
Oh wow, I definitely struggled in this class. I ended up dropping it because it was going wayy fast, and I felt soo stressed. I think that the teacher is good, vvery smart indeed, but if you don't totally understand some concepts, this will be a doosie!
I took this class thinking it would be fairly easy since I got an A in chem 103.. and I basically got my butt kicked. She jumps around alot, and demands alot oftime. I honestly have never had so much homework in my life. My recommendation.. dont take other hard classes period. Also she offers an SLA with Chris Beis. Its a waste of your time.
Dr. P was a great professor. She is very helpful and will go over any problem even if only one person has a question on it. You should definately try to get in her class if you can.
Most amazing professor i ever had. I did not understand chem at all before i took her class and ended up with an A! The only bad part of the class is the 1000000000 homework assiggnments, but they help you to understand the material anyway.
She is super approachable! Her tests are hard, but she gives lots of extra credit. She is without a doubt the best Chem prof if you're in Pre-Pharm! She always wants everyone to understand the material and I think she enjoys what she teaches. If you're comparing Dr. Jacobs to her, it is NO contest. Take Dr. P! (I barely studied and got a B+)
I didn't like her at all the first week, but it just takes a little while for her personality to show. She's very approachable, the homework isn't graded, and she does the notes along with the class, so its easy to follow. SHe also gives a lot of extra credit.
Very nice teacher, and not intimidating. Very helpful and has many available times to meet in her office. i would recommend this professor to anyone.
Dr. P rocks!!! Labs were fairly easy and applied material from lecture well, and the exams were pretty straightforward as long as you do the practice exams and pay attention during class (she also has review sessions outside of class if you need extra help). She's kinda quiet though, so be sure you sit near the front so you can hear her.
She was the best Chem teacher I ever had. Very nice teacher and will help you if you ask, she also gives good notes, i had it as a summer class so it was a little faster but still she was a GREAT teacher. Take over any other 121 teacher
Dr. P is one of the best teachers I've ever had at Ferris. I took her for Chem 121 and 122, and she is great! She's always willing to help students. I would definitely recommend her.
absolutly LOVE dr. p!!! if you have to take chemistry TAKE DR. P!!!!!!!!
I loved Dr. P. She is so helpful and she know what she is talking about. She is also very easlily approachable and you really get the feelling she WANTS you to do well in the class. I recommend her highly!
She makes you learn the material yourself. i.e. she doesn't teach it to you, her lectures are only a few minutes long and the remainder is you trying to put the pieces together. Her first semester was very good, and she didn't "teach" this way. Bottom line: take someone else for the second half
I really like Dr.P! I love that her class isn't based solely on exams. She gives quizzes, online homework, and minor extra credit. There are always practice assignments if you don't understand the material, and her practice exams in the coursepack are JUST like the exams in class. You might struggle though if you haven't had chem before this class.
Dr. P is hard. That's that. AT first i loved how she taught because I thought it was fairly easy; however, when you start to get into the harder stuff she switches her lecture style. This results in her reading really fast and writing a lot down on an overhead. her tests are ALL exam...everything else counts for nothing basically.
she does not teach you she makes you buy a packet and has you do the assignments in class, does not teach one bit. Exams are extremely hard and tricky as all can be. If that isnt difficult enough she sometimes becomes "sick" and leaves for over a month and comes back expecting you to know everything even if it wasnt taught
Dont know what im paying for, she literally doesn't teach. YOU teach yourself with a course packet that she has you do in the lecture. POINTLESS to be paying as much as you do to teach yourself and have her test you on it.
Amazing professor! She makes the class interesting by letting you try problems out yourself instead of listening to a boring lecture all hour. She is the most helpful professor I've ever had, and she cares so much about her students. She gives review sessions before tests and her coursepack has old tests just like the ones in class. Take her!!!
She expects you to have a good background knowledge so if you had a solid high school chemistry then go for it, but if you dont, then take a dif teacher. I really struggled in this course, and ended up retaking because she just zooms by you if you are falling behind. She's pretty cold if you go talk to her at office hours too.
She is a WONDERFUL teacher. She covers a lot of material in a very short period of time and missing a lecture can hurt you quite a bit. If you attend class and pay attention you should do fine in this class.
Purely awesome, very organized class, very helpful test preparation material.
VERY fast-paced lecture, hard to keep up, but very organized teaching. If you can quickly pick up Chem, you'll probably do well. Easy labs, always available for help.
Dr.Partigianoni is an awesome prof. She's knowledgeable, helpful and approachable. She explains the materials very well. There are quizzes prior to major tests so you will know what to work on.If you read over her lecture notes and do all the assigned problems, you will get your "A". There are review sessions before tests, very helpful.
Dr. P is sweet. Hard class, but amazing teacher.
Dr. P is awesome. She is so organized and explains everything so well! The lectures are pretty fast paced, but if you take all of the notes and study them, tests and quizzes should go smoothly. Labs are easy and she is very helpful in them. Dr. P is the best Chemistry professor yet!
Dr. P is a great professor, and I would highly recommend taking her for chem! She's very organized, and explains the material very well! She keeps you actively working on problems together in class, and it really helps you learn the material. She always tells you exactly what to study for her tests and quizzes. Don't buy the book. You won't use it.
Best Gen chem teacher! I would definitely recommend her :)
Dr. P is an amazing chem teacher. Don't bother buying the text book though, she hardly ever uses it. She has her own coursepack with old exams and holds question and answer sessions before quizzes and exams. Highly recommended.
Dr. P's class isn't difficult, but she is very drab and unapproachable. Her course pack is terribly disorganized (flip from pg 2 to 24 to 196, etc within one lecture). You'll do fine if you practice the problems, but if you're type A, then it's difficult to get over the lack of organization.
Great Professor. You hardly use the textbook, so there is no need to buy it. She uses a course pack. Does online homework, which helps a lot with tests and quizzes. She drops the lowest quiz. When you ask her for help she explains. Has practice exams which tend to be very helpful.
Dr. P is a great teacher. I learned a lot in class. You don't use the textbook, you use her coursepack which can be very helpful. She has several quizes and drops the worst one. A lot of people don't ask her for help because she can seem cold. But I think she's just shy, when you get to know her she's very nice and helpful and will even make jokes.
At first I thought she was really unapprachable, but she's actually quite nice. She sets the class up very well and the notes are straightforward. You never use the book though, so dont buy it. But you will need an online code for homework, which isn't that hard. Labs are boring but easy. If you get to pick your chem prof, choose her.
By far the greatest chem professor. Highly recommend taking her for both 121 and 122. Her exams are easy if you put the effort into doing the assignments and practice exams. They're all in the coursepack for the class. You'll learn a lot if you have chemistry with Dr. P.
This class is pretty fast paced, but Dr. P makes it easy. She is intimidating and scary, but after the first week it's not bad. She has her own course pack so don't waste an extra 200$ on books that the school tries to get you to buy, you don't use it. Great professor.
Dr. P is probably the best chem professor there is at Ferris. She isn't nearly as intimidating as you would think from reading the other comments.
She is an awful, awful teacher...she is way too fast and has no skill in communication. nothing is explained in this class. I took advanced chem in highschool and honestly it hardly helped me at all in this class. she's a nice person, but teaching is definitely not her forte.
Absolutely terrible professor. I can't believe she is ranked so well because she goes way too fast, she writes a bunch of stuff you can't follow, and she is so difficult to approach for help. Horrific and depressing class.
Dr. P explains things way to fast. I took her for chem 121 bc of her score on rate my professor and ended up dropping her class.
Had for both 121 and 122 - an amazing professor if YOU put forth the effort. Best advice is to do all her coursepack work with the activities, homework, and definitely the practice exams. Attending her Q/A sessions is very beneficial as she'll even give hints to what's on the exam! Don't waste money on the textbook - just get the coursepack!
Had an easy professor for 121, so the transition into 122 was VERY difficult for Dr. P. Great professor, but much more difficult than others. You learn SO much in this class, just be very prepared to work for it. Almost had to drop the class, but once I adjusted to the style I loved it and brought my grade up 25 to a B- in two exams a quiz
Dr. P is a wonderful professor. She has high expectations though. She has her own coursepack instead of a textbook. Go to class and be prepared to sit down and focus, lecture goes fast. If you've taken AP chem, Dr. P is a good choice.
Dr. P is great, textbook is optional (but you have to buy her $40 coursepack). Very good professor and is always helpful with office hours. She may seem intimidating at first, but she is very nice and opens up by the end of the semester, has a sense of humor as well.
She's certainly not for everyone. She speaks and goes through material quickly (handwriting is a bit difficult to decipher at times), but if you need her to stop, go back, or slow down, she will do it. She is always ready to help. She can be a bit picky for grading, but you'll get that from any gen chem prof. But she knows what she's doing.
She is a really good teacher, but you have to study. There is a lot of information she gives you and she can go through it very quickly. She might seem intimidating, but went to her office hours and she was really nice and helped me out when I had questions. Prepare to study if to get an A on her tests.
I had a very hard time with this class. All homework is online and tests are hard. She is intimidating and unapproachable when you want help. I would recommend anyone except her... She has her own course pack which I really liked but she goes through everything very fast.
The only positive things I have to say about her is that she will help if you ask for it and that she is very intelligent, but just because someone is knowledgeable DOES NOT mean they can teach! Sure you can do good.. If you have nothing else going on in your life! I had to quit my job just to be able to pass with a C and I am a straight A student.
Tests are very hard and nothing like the things you do in lecture. Her course pack is helpful but again, tests are not like it. She moves very fast through class and expects you to remember a lot from high school. Generally helpful if you go to her office hours. If possible, I would take another professor.
Dr. P really knows what shes talking about, but she is not a very good teacher. She goes very fast and its hard to keep up unless you ask questions. A lot of people struggle because of this. I do like her workbook and notes as they are very helpful. I would use the practice tests and problems whenever possible.
She is a good teacher. However, she goes really fast. You really need to pay attention. Her lab isn't too hard. Don't get the book cause she has her own course packet. Do the stuff she assigns because it will be your ticket to a better grade on the exams.
She's decent. I wouldn't take her again though. She goes through the material really fast. She seems to spend more time on the math part, but less time on the concepts. Do her coursepackets. They will help.
Dr. P comes off a little cold but she's very sweet if she knows you. She is very ready to help if you need clarification but does not stop for questions or review. She expects you to come to her. Her labs are pretty easy and the tests look exactly like the problems in the Coursepack.
She's a fantastic professor and you can really tell she knows what she's talking about. Chem in general was a really difficult class. I recommend learning the material before the lectures are given and use the lectures as clarification.
According to MyFSU the textbook was required but Dr. P uses her own course pack that is available at The Great Lakes Bookstore. GREAT teacher! My spirit animal. However, she can be tricky if you didn't have the right chemistry in high school previous to taking her class. sit in front, PARTICIPATE. Visit office hours.b Labs almost always 3 hours
Terrible teacher, I went to tutor sessions, study groups, and studied on my own. Half the class will drop out halfway through, 25% will stay but fail, and only 25% will actually pass. I am currently in the class with 3 weeks left in the semester. Don't know of anyone with an A or B, only F's, D's, and a few C's.
Gona have to retake..
Dr.P is such a nice woman, and super great to talk too. But if you blink you will miss her whole lecture and not understand anything because she goes so fast. She is extremely hard to follow and keep up with, very hard to learn from, and the exams are also very difficult.
I loved Dr. P as a person. I struggled with her class however, was very easy to go to office hours. She rushed and jumped around in lectures. She also has two day test. But, I probably would have done worse with a different professor.
By far the worst teacher I have ever had. She goes really fast and does not explain any concepts well enough to understand. If you want to pass this class with her as a teacher then you need a tutor. Hands down or you will not pass. DO NOT HAVE HER IS YOU HAVE ANOTHER CHOICE!
Comes off as unapproachable at first but is very sweet once you get to know her. She uses her own course pack, but the book is required for the online homework. Attend class or you won't do well. Tests are tough so study hard. Labs tend to go the full 3 hours but are not too difficult. This class is a lot of work, but a good grade is possible.
She a really nice as a person! She has a lot of office hours which is really helpful. If you dont really understand chemistry quickly, she will be tough but you just have to be willing to put in the extra work for it like going to the tutoring center. We have homework and extra credit quizzes. She helps a lot in lab she is just tough.
Worst teacher i have ever had. She goes through everything extremely fast. I was lost most of the time. Her tests are extremely hard and nothing like the notes and homework assignments given. If you have the chance to take another professor TAKE IT!!!
Dr. P. Is a nice person but is hard to please when it comes to tests. You might think you know what your doing but think again. Dr. P is a tough grader.
Im a type of student that studies 50 hours a week for my classes. This class was almost impossible, most people dropped before the drop period. I was one of those students the next semester I took dr. Luis Rivera and got an A. Shes a really sweet person and I went to all her office hours with questions, still did bad.
The course is difficult and moves at a fast pace, but Ms. P. is very nice and is willing to help you whenever. She holds Q & A's the day before quizzes/ exams too. The course is homework heavy and she is a harsh grader, but it will definitely help you in the long run.
Dr. P is a tough professor, but chemistry is also a tough subject. Not great with emailing, but her office hours and Q & A sessions are very helpful. You will have a lot of homework and it will be graded, but it is very similar to exam and lecture content. You don't need the textbook, her coursepack is very thorough, just go to class.
Dr. P gives you the material you need to succeed. Work hard and do what she assigns and youll do great.
In 121 I had dr. Thompson who has over a 4 rating on this website. But he is so much worse than Dr. P. Take this professor if you get the chance. She goes fast but you get used to it. Her lectures are not pp slides; she uses a coursepack and it is amazing, especially if you like to actively participate. Halfway thru the semester i have a strong A.
I love Dr. P! She definitely makes you work for your grade, and if you don't do all of the practice (not for credit) assignments she gives, it will show. She holds optional Q&A sessions before quizzes and exams and they are awesome. Also, get the study book for the ACS exam, because we take it both semesters.
Dr. P really cares about her students and it shows through her Q&A sessions, the time she puts in to make the course pack, and the fact that she knows your name quickly. If you want an easy A, she might not be a great choice. But I feel significantly more prepared for my upper level science courses. PUT IN THE WORK AND YOU'LL BE FINE!!
I love Dr. P! She is a real sweetheart. If you arent ready to work for a good grade, DONT take her. If you are willing to work hard, you will get the grade you and and she gives you many paths to success. You will not do well if you dont work hard but she is amazing and if youre going to take the PCAT/MCAT etc, she will prep you super well.
Dr. P was a really great professor - best chemistry professor by far. She is very clear about what you need to know when learning this complex course. She has her own coursepack that is very detailed and exactly like the tests. If you put the work in, you will get a good grade. Take advantage of her office hours!!
Dr. P is one of the best and sweetest teachers that you can take. She knows her stuff and she teaches clearly and is regularly available outside of class to help with any questions or confusion. There is a decent amount of homework, but it is relevant and helpful.
She's an amazing professor that genuinely cares about you and your grade. She has weekly Q/A sessions outside of class and will answer any questions that you have. Her coursepack is very detailed and EXTREMELY helpful if you do all of the work in it. There is a lot of work to do, but if you do all of it you will benefit greatly from it!
I highly recommend taking Dr. P. She is very organized and knows exactly what she's doing. The coursepack is better than any book would be. Put in work outside of class, she will definitely be willing to help you if you need it!
I passed Chemistry 121 with a 98% last semester. This semester, I have a 69%, which is a C- in her book. Goes ridiculously fast and illegible handwriting. Past exams look nothing like currents, Mastering Chem on Pearson (god awful). Strongly would NOT recommend. Take Dr. Mark for lab with Dr. P to make it bearable. Good luck.
Avoid her at all costs. She assigns a ton of homework, which would be helpful if it was anything like the tests. I did all the homework assignments and got 90+% on every single assignment but her tests are NOTHING like the homework at ALL. There was often material on the tests she never went over in lecture.
Dr. P is a really good professor. You need to do the homework, even the things that aren't graded, because for this class you learn through doing. Plus, it'll help prepare for exams since they have questions that are similar. The class can be difficult so you need to keep up, but if you stay on top of stuff and work for it, the class isn't too bad.
Dr.P was generally a decent teacher, but her course was difficult and required a TON of work. Mastery assignments were way to lengthy and I would spend HOURS trying to finish one assignment. She has a habit of skipping over practice problems and never teaching how to do them, but then puts them on the exam. We also had to print out each worksheet.
Dr. P cured me of my disgust for chemistry. The way she teaches in lecture, through activities you print out before class, is the EXACT way I like to learn. I learned that after taking her class. I am very successful in her tough class and its all because she doesnt do powerpoints. Shes quiet, but shes actually pretty funny in lab. TAKE HER
Dr. P is truly an outstanding professor if you are willing to put the work in. Everything you need to know for the exams are covered in lecture, and she posts study guides and practice problems for every exam. The only downside is that she wasn't great at responding to emails, so I would find a tutor if you are struggling. Lots of extra credit.
Dr. P is an excellent professor! She truly does care for her students to learn and succeed. There are 6 exams total. She posts study guides that are very similar to the exams. If you do not perform well on an exam, she makes room for extra credit opportunities. One thing that stands out for her is in a class of 75-100, she'll know everyone's name.
Although the course overall is difficult, Dr. P has clear notes and expectations for tests. She cares about her student's success and is willing to help you with anything you need. She takes the time to send many reminders about info you need to know throughout class. Offers good amount of extra credit and light grader but do not skip classes.
I loved Dr. P!!!!! She was by far my favorite professor my freshman year. She uses her own course pack that she made instead of the textbook and it made it so much easier to learn and understand the information. I was in chem 121 and 122 and if SLA is available to you for the class I highly suggest taking advantage of that as well!
On the second day of class a student asked her a question about the problem and she said "its right here, it's not that hard". She is very rude in class and in labs. She made me redo an experiment 4 times because she said "my numbers didn't do right" and then she called me out in front of the whole class. There has been so many people that left.
Not approachable, not open or friendly. Speeds through lecture and jams information down your throat and expects you to remember it. Not helpful with questions.
It was challenging to get to know Dr. P. Her lectures are so boring and it is hard to read her handwriting. I zoned out, then taught myself everything. Four quizzes, seven tests, mastering, labs, and a final. Lab instructions are not clear. Limited my friend from asking questions. Dr. P always makes time to help you though. I would not recommend.
Don't do it. Lectures are so fast and only go over homework that you haven't learned. Does not explain anything and handwriting is so hard to read. Save yourself the stress.
Although I enjoyed meeting with Dr. P weekly, her class is unbelievable. Exams are complex, the final is a state exam, and she offered little extra credit. She is very unsympathetic when it comes to students understanding, for example, every activity we went through was deemed "easy" and she rarely went over homework questions thoroughly.
Dr. P is such a sweet person. She definitely cares about all of her students and knew everyone by name fairly quickly. Chemistry is a hard class. The class was very difficult because of the fast paced lectures. She does offer times when you can go and get help and those help a lot. She also curves a lot of stuff to help boost your grade.
Dr. P is a great professor. The bad reviews are kids who didn't try and who didn't come to class. Chemistry is hard, but she makes it nice to learn and you will always have opportunities to improve your grade. You will be thankful you have her!!!
My favorite thing about Dr. P is her class structure. Our materials for lecture are available before class and help to guide learning rather than state facts. The quick pace of this class can be intimidating, but once that adjustment is made its smooth sailing. The most important thing is to do ALL the homework she assigns, even if it isn't graded!
Very sweet lady who wants you to succeed. Offers lots of office hours for questions. EXTREMELY FAST PACED LECTURES. Most times it is hard to follow along because she jumps around. I got an 89.7 in the class and she would not round it to a 90 when I asked
I love having Dr. P, this is the second class I've taken with her. She is incredibly nice, but she moves incredibly quickly through her lectures. The material is difficult to learn and requires effort outside of class. She however takes great effort to be available outside of class for any questions. Labs are doable, and sometimes interesting.
Dr. P is a great professor! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. She gives you a ton of practice problems and everything you need to succeed! She is also super sweet and genuinely cares! Take her!!!!!
Expectes to know everything.
I loved Dr. P she was awesome but if you have a hard time paying attention like I did its a struggle. she is a very kind lady and always makes time to meet outside of class. However, she is VERY FAST! Her lectures are fast and not very in depth it takes a lot of critical thinking and outside of class work. She is a good teacher if you can go fast.
Dr. P is a very nice women. She is super helpful when it comes to having questions. The course is pretty difficult if you don't have a good chem understanding. She does use ALEK modules for homework. There are quizzes along with your exams. The labs aren't too long and fairly easy.
She was a great teacher, willing to help answer questions, gives lots of resources to help prepare for tests and exams, super understanding, and the class is hard if you don't put in enough work.
lots of work for her class. i spent about 2 hours per day. she expects you to have all knowledge from high school and doesnt do a good job going through topics thouroughly and breezes through. if you have a history of being good in chemistry shell be good but if you arent as familiar shes not the prof for you
Dr. P's class is fast-paced but engaging. While challenging, the course structure and opportunities for help make it manageable. unstuck study was a lifesaver for study prep.
Dr. P lectures quickly, her handwriting is sloppy, and doesn't give enough examples during lectures. Labs aren't explained well and you can tell when she's tired of you asking questions. Expects too much of students.
Dr. P is a good person, but moves along fast in lecture. You need to be on your A game with her. The criteria of 122 is not fun, it is MATH HEAVY, get ready to do ICE tables for 3 months straight. 4 exams (mostly free answer, some multiple choice). and ACS final. 4 quizzes taken in class which hold some weight, treat it like a test. Good luck!
Absolutely awful class. I had to start mental health counseling because of this course. I would study for 16-20 hours a week on this class alone only to get C's, I have A's in all my other classes so I'm clearly trying. She rushes through units then gives you a test that is BASED off of the material you learn. No Gen-Ed class needs to like this.
Dr. P is an extremely HARD professor. She expects you to know everything from HS and expects everyone to have gotten the same education beforehand. I'm generally a straight A student and this course was the death of me. I passed by .8%. You're graded only on lab and exams. Lowest quiz is dropped. Take Dr. Rivera if given the chance. GOOD LUCK.
My mental health dropped significantly taking Dr. P. and nearly half of the class didn't make it past the 3rd prelim exam. I felt like I was in The Hunger Games. She goes through 6 topics a day and brushes over them QUICK. Expect to spend 6 hours a night on this class. Dr. P needs to retire.
Moves very fast, doesn't explain things very well and expects you to understand all topics she covers right away.
