She isn't a very good teacher, but the class is not that bad. If you need really good math instruction, don't take the class. Really easy on the attendance policy (there isn't one). Likes it when you help teach. Flaky, but funny. Relatively easy.

If you need to take Stats, take Watson. She is really easy to talk to (American, therefore speaks English). Moves a little quick, but if you know anything about Stats you're guarenteed an A.

Understanding and patient especially for those who hate math and who have never taken stats before. Going to most classes and seeing all the examples that she does is great. She gives weekly quizes usually on your lab day(drops1) 3 exams plus a final.

Overall, a solid Math course compared to say Calculus. Class is pretty easy, everything is straight forward and easy to understand. Overall, a easy class that isn't that bad.

I love Ms.Watson. Compared to the other Stats teachers I think she's the best. The class is not too hard or easy. Just do the problems over and over and you'll get it. If you don't she's has office hours and will help you. Tends to have favorites but doesn't treat pple differently too much.

Okay, so here's the deal with prof. Watson: her class is most definitely challenging. If this is the first time you have taken stats, the class will demand a good deal of your time. You must do the HW or else you will fail. When I took her class, I had already taken stats, and it was still hard to get by. All that said, she is extremely helpful.

Great stats professor. She presents the material clearly and makes it easy to understand. The tests are challenging, but a little studying will get you a good grade. She even gives exemptions from finals to students who have As.

MUST GET THIS TEACHER IF U TAKE MATH 220! i hate math usually, always got D's in highschool, she is SO clear on what she wants on tests, and reviews for them a week in advance. she disregards wording in the textbook and rearranges it for her own easy wording.. i hate to say it but I LOVE STATISTICS NOW because of her! Give this woman a raise! Creme de la creme! I've taken high school stats and she made everything so much easier to comprehend. Class structure is college-like, and attendance isn't mandatory. Very helpful and nice. Provides chapter reviews and the answers to them. Some test questions are pulled straight from the reviews. Has four mandatory SPSS Lab days. Not a difficult class and definetly a great teacher.

Dr. Watson is excellent. While the book can be a helpful extra, I haven't used it all semester and I am doing fine. She has a way of clarifying subject matter and works real-life (interesting)problems. Helpful and teaches you how to use that TI 83. Also not super focused on SPSS (stats comp program), if that's not your thing. Definately recommend!

I started with the book, and then I worked with the study guide. Some questions taken literally off of it. I wouldn't take anybody else but her.

I took Stats freshman year but had a horrible professor so I decided to retake it. She is awesome!! I ended up with a C+ the first time & now have an A+ because I understand everything 100x better because of Watson. Tests are exactly what she taught/explained in class & sometimes she even puts the same homework problems she gives. GREAT professor!

Math 220 has SUCH an easy structure that it's easy to learn even with a bad professor. That being said, Watson was nice, but teaches almost exclusively by examples - notes are not helpful unless you already understand the material.

So I'm actually failing this class, and about a third of my class already dropped it. I really have no interest in statistics, and I couldn't care less about it. Still, studying the night before won't help you. To do well, you HAVE to do all the ungraded book problems that she gives you.

GREAT TEACHER. Tests are just a tiny harder than what you learn in class, but that means you actually need to practice the homework that is assigned which is VERY BENEFICIAL. I was originally wait listed for a class with a different stats professor but was automatically placed in her class when a spot opened up. All i can say is that getting placed in her class was one of the best things that could have happened to me here. She is awesome!!!!

I have a 2.6 GPA. I went to a very hard high school where I got a 3.6 GPA. I got a D in this class. I've never been good at math. However, it was my fault. She is a very good teacher. If this sounds like you, you probably get easily distracted. I'm gonna repeat it and get an A. She is really good. Just gotta pay attention and study 30 mins daily.

She is an incredible teacher. The class is naturally going to be hard as hell but she is easy to understand and knows the topic extremely well. She allows you to call or text her for any help. She is very beautiful as well! I had a C after first 2 tests because I didn't care. I started going to office hours and easily got an A. GO TO OFFICE HOURS!!

Professor Watson is awesome. She makes Stats so doable, she teaches almost entirely from her own material which means you don't need to buy the textbook which is really nice. YOU HAVE TO GO EVERY CLASS THOUGH, if you don't you'll miss really valuable notes and THAT is what makes the class difficult. If you go to class every day, you'll be fine.

Colleen Watson is probably the best math teacher I have had in my entire life. She explains things so well and she is always willing to stop and answer questions. If you can, TAKE HER CLASS!!! She's the best. I promise you won't be disappointed!

Professor Watson is truly incredible. I was freaking out before I took this class because I had never taken stats before. She explains things so well and WANTS YOU TO DO WELL and really cares! She sent us an email over the weekend once encouraging us to study so we didn't stress ourselves out later! She's just so great! Take her if you can!! :)

Dr. Watson is amazing! Her lectures are so easy to understand, and she gives great examples. She says the textbook is not necessary, but i highly recommend getting it; doing the practice problems really helped me study. I would definitely take another class taught by her. Its not a very hard class, but you will need to study a little.

I am terrified of math, and have dreaded math class since 6th grade. So it means a lot when I say that I actually enjoyed this class. The lectures are super clear and informative! Her tests are great because she gives you a "Cheat Sheet" with all the formulas, and as long as you practice problems for an hour or two beforehand you'll be fine.

I loved this class. Professor Watson is the sweetest lady and is always available to help. She is very clear in her grading and she gives tons of examples in class. I never used the text book because her handouts provided enough practice for me, but if I needed extra practice she hand picked problems out of the text book for extra practice.

Professor Watson is a wonderful professor! Obviously out to help students learn, provides many clear examples, and respects students and the learning process. Also very funny. Gives LOL as assignment feedback. If you come to class and do the worksheets she assigns, you'll be good to go for exams!

If you are not good at math, don't take her class. She is a very nice woman don't get me wrong, but she speeds through the notes and test are almost impossible. I took statistics in high school and had a 96 average. Your grade in this class is dependent on tests and I failed her 1st two tests and had to withdraw. Hardest class I've taken at JMU.

Watson is such a sweet and helpful professor! But coming from someone who has always had trouble in math, I just can't keep up with her teaching. I study all before and think I have her notes down, and then go into the test and they're all one step further and just way more difficult. If you're good at math take this class, but it's not for me.

I am absolutely terrible at math so i did my research on the professors before choosing one since i needed this class to move forward in my major. Best decision i've made! Great teacher, always willing to help and answer questions. Her tests are tough but you just have to practice the handouts, the textbook isn't necessary! Also, she is a hottie!

The amount of info given in one class is a lot but she means for you to go back over it later to get a better understanding as well as extra works like handouts and questions from the book.

Professor Watson is a very experienced teacher and could probably teach this class in her sleep. While most of the time this is awesome, sometimes she forgets to pause and clarify, and the class is incredibly fast paced. Make sure you attend every class and take thorough notes.

Watson was my hardest class for the fall semester. Fast paced but somewhat easy to understand. Watson knows what she is doing. If you want a good grade, do all the homework assignments. Must attend class and take notes if you want to pass. Stat was an experience, not the end of the world if you take her. 4 tests, SPSS assgn, and final.

By far the best 220 professor. She gives a ton of in class examples and homework examples (not graded) that she often reuses on the tests, so just study those and you'll do fine. Definitely need to go to class to understand what is going on, even if you took Stats in high school, and she's a stickler for points on tests, but she's extremely nice!

I loved her for math 220. It is essential that you go to class so you won't miss any notes. She is very helpful and she always comes to class in a good mood. Work hard and you will do well in her class.

Professor Watson was a great Stat teacher, and I HATE STATISTICS! But since I was required to take this class, I'm so grateful I got a good professor for it. Stat is hard, but if you do everything she says, do all the worksheets she gives (which there are not many), and GO TO CLASS!! It is definitely possible to get at LEAST a B.

100% recommend this professor. She really knows what she is doing. She is very helpful towards her students and will answer any questions you have. Do ALL outside work (really isn't that much) and you will get an A or B on all 4 tests. When she says practice a problem on the handouts definitely practice them because they will show up on tests

Professor Watson really wants you to succeed. I actually enjoy her class more than any other math I've taken. She packs a lot into one class and goes a little quickly, but is very very helpful. Watson is an INCREDIBLE professor. Doesn't require you to buy the textbook, gives you worksheets to complete before each test (just for your own practice, not homework). This woman restored my hope in JMU's math department. She is very helpful in and outside of class. Stats is hard, so obviously you gotta work for it, but she tries to make it as easy as possible. Four tests and a final, you can get out of the final if you get strong A's on the four tests though. SHOW UP TO CLASS, DO THE HOMEWORK, and you'll pass.

Math is not my thing, and I am SO glad I chose to take Professor Watson for 220. She knows the content so well she can actually anticipate where and when we will make mistakes on each topic. In addition, she is so personable that I always felt comfortable asking for help. It's still math, but her clear and concise style makes all the difference!

The reason I fell back in love with math. she really cares about her students. she adds worksheets/ reviews and does many problems in class, so that you don't have to buy the textbook. She may ramble sometimes but its for a reason or trying to help students. Only 4 tests, one hw assignment (SPSS), and final. Easy test grader.

She is so enthusiastic and gives very clear and comprehensive lecture notes but your grade is primarily based on test performance, only 9% of your grade is composed of other assignments. If you skip, you will be very confused, but an A is attainable if you put in the work. You have to redo all of her handouts to study for/ pass her tests.

she is an amazing professor but not much help with concern for grades. she does not reveal your grades at all through the semester and moves quickly. she does tell you every detail of what will be on tests and she tells you exactly what to do to prepare but thats on you and you must print everything for the class to understand whats going on

Super nice and doesn't make you buy the textbook and gives you handouts to help but nothing is graded. Lecture isn't required but it's a good idea to go because she doesn't put notes on canvas. Do the mandatory homework because that is basically what the tests are going to be. Have your calculator charged! I took this class for fun and I had fun. Watson is one of the best professors at JMU. She teaches everything in a simple and effective way. If you don't understand something, she is always willing to go over it again in class, or to help you one on one after class. Homework and attendance aren't graded, but definitely do the homework and show up to class and you'll do great!

Stat is not an easy class unless you're a math wiz. Watson is definitely the best choice for this course considering I am awful at anything math-related. 4 SPSS assignments (not bad), 4 tests and a final. A whole queen take her if you can. She makes a complicated class so much easier, makes it relatable to real life and explains things in a clear way. There only 7 total things in the grade book so you have to do well on them but besides that I have nothing really negative to say about her

TAKE WATSON FOR MATH220! She explains the material incredibly clearly and thoroughly and is very accessible outside of class. She somehow makes the time fly by in a math class (and I'm not a huge math person.) You do have to put in work on your end to ensure you understand the material to do well but she is amazing! Professor Watson is the best choice for MATH220. She is very knowledgeable about the material and does a great job explaining things in her lectures. The grade is almost entirely based off of tests, and there are four tests. Do the practice problems that she gives you multiple times to prepare for the tests, and you will do well.

Colleen Watson is the BEST professor for MATH220! She is so sweet and really wants her students to succeed. She has office hours three times a week and provides a lot of handouts that are just like the test questions. Our class was asynchronous with lecture videos and you don't need the textbook. Final grade is 4 tests, 3 SPSS, and the final.

Dr. Watson is different than most math instructors you'll run into. She only expects you to re practice the same 4-5 worksheets until the test day. She doesn't ever get to the point, she gives you at least 3-5 mins responses. The first 10 mins of her lectures is just background/rambling. But if you do the work, her class is an easy A.

Take Watson for 220! Took AP Stats in high school and this class was a breeze. She holds a generous amount of office hours if you need extra help to understand how to solve problems. The 4 tests have about 7 questions with parts a,b,c,d. Will give you credit if you show the setup but somehow get the wrong answer. Must follow her steps for problems.

Can't say enough good things about Prof. Watson and this class, super doable if you go to class and do the homework (not required but exactly like the tests) and no textbook required. If this is your teacher u need to do as good as possible on the first test, you cannot start out poor, each test is 17% of your grade and there is 4.... she grades these somewhat tough, kinda sucks but in all she is a very good teacher and is nice and accessible out of class.

I LOVE her! Got a C with a diff. prof. when I took 220 but will end with a high A with her. Videos online if you miss lecture. Grades are all tests (easy SPSS too). All on paper, which is wonderful. Just do the handouts 1-2 times before the test and you WILL get a good grade. People who fail this class with her just are not trying/doing the work!

Such a great professor! Explains things very well, does not call on people in class. Homework is given out, but not graded (just there to help you prepare for exams). Mrs Watson is so passionate about what she does and is the best stats prof at JMU your grade is made of up of 4 "quizzes" that you will get a 100 on and 4 exams and a final each of these assignments are easy if you go to class (you rlly don't even have to she posts the lectures online), take her I love her so much!

Colleen is amazing. She has been teaching this course for years, so she arranges notes personally in a way that benefits the students. She lays out criteria and problems clearly, as well as gives you multiple "cheats" on problems that are beneficial. The only way you could get a bad grade is if you didn't come to class!

If you follow everything she does you will have no problem getting an A. She gives a lot of partial credit on exams. We have four exams and a final most of them being really easy if you follow everything she does. The first exams is the hardest. The final was easy as well, the one thing you need to do is come to class and REVIEW. I love this lady!

Your grade in this class is strongly based on tests. I am not a strong test taker but the lowest grade I got on her test was a B. Her tests are just like the homework she assigns, so if you study those then you will do well. Stats is a hard class but taking it with her was not hard or stressful. Great professor who wants her students to succeed.

Class is not mandatory but if you want to do well I suggest going to class. She is funny and light hearted. If you can I suggest taking her. I would want her to teach all of my classes.

Dr. Watson is genuinely the best Math teacher I've ever had. She completely understands how to talk to students and make them actually understand what is being taught. She gives good lectures so I recommend going to class. She doesn't take attendance but going is really helpful as she can answer questions to minimize confusion. She hates technology though so she wants you to print everything out, or have a way to write directly on the handouts. I used and Ipad and it worked perfectly. I'd take her again 100%.

If a spot is open in her MATH220, take it. She explains statistics so well and everything makes sense if you just pay attention in class. Also all of the printing worksheets is slightly annoying but they're VERY helpful for studying for exams/understanding content.

Best Prof for Math 220. Graded by 4 tests, 3 HWs and a Final. If you have a 95+ on all 4 tests you don't have to take the final. Material is somewhat easy, you just have to review. Calculator Does most of the work.

Very experienced in teaching, her lectures are entertaining and she's good at explaining things. Class grade is 90% tests but even if you are a horrible test taker don't worry because she's literally the only good math 220 teacher. I will say better teacher than she is person though

Professor Watson is phenomenal at explaining the topics that are supposed to be covered in the Math 220 course. She is always willing to help and is also very willing to make assignments/exams work for you if something comes up that would prevent you from completing them. Despite some topics being difficult, she explains things in a clear way!

Her lectures are very clear, and she gives you printed notes to follow along with, which helps a lot. She is a great professor overall, and you always know exactly what to expect on the exams. If you study the notes and don't cram, you will be in good shape. I also ended up being able to skip the final by doing well on the exams.
