I don't understand why she created such a rigid course structure for the basic physics course and put too much responsibility on students. None of the courses I took, including science courses, tired or overwhelmed me this much. I mean, it's just PHY201, not Rocket Science...

Worst class I've ever had. The teacher expects the world of her students while seemingly giving them minimal effort on her part. There isn't a single lab in this class that isn't a headache to interpret. When you get answers wrong, you're rarely given the right answer to learn from. It takes an introductory class and turns it into a headache.

I wrote the rating directly beneath this. It was late; I was cranky. Let me correct myself. Mrs. Marsh isn't evil or lazy. If you ask for help, she will gladly help you. I'm not angry at her. I'm angry at the structure of this class. I wish important information was presented clearer and that learning from mistakes was better supported digitally.

When I say "I wish important information was presented clearer," I mean that information is usually presented in a word salad, much like this series of reviews. It's difficult to know what's important. Important info should: *Visually pop *Be expressed as concise as possible *Be explicitly segmented from other info

I left 2/5 reviews, so one 5/5 seems fair. This is NOT an easy course. Even though this is introductory physics, it is extremely information dense. You NEED to be prepared to study a lot. Additionally, the lab work will be tedious. It's an exercise in error analysis. If you truly want to be in STEM, proper error analysis is a must.

Marsh is a great professor with engaging lectures; very fair grader on exams and provides many extra credit opportunities throughout. The exams are reasonable as they're derived from in-class practice, flying equations, and the provided PP's. Content dense with meticulous yet correlative labs; material itself is moderate, ensure you uphold pacing.

Nice lady however, her lectures did not help at all and would often leave me confused more often than help. Physics is a tough course already, and she did not make it any easier with how she would teach the class. There would be a lot of pre-lab material to go over in a short amount of time that made it difficult to keep up with the pace.

If you have taken any higher level of physics, like AP Physics C in high school, don't take this professor. You are probably smarter than her. Collete Marsh is unable to comprehend various ways of solving the problems she assigns and will not give any credit if you solve it in a different way. Her course isn't about learning, it's about her way.

If you love physics be prepared—it's not the subject that's hard; it's the way it's being taught here. She enforces arbitrary rules, penalizes for not using her exact method, skips explaining derivations, and expects 18+ hrs/week outside of labs, lectures, and homework—just to get a C per her syllabus. Take Damcott, she is an actual physicist.

Physics 1 is not a hard course, but trying to adhere to her unknown grading criteria is the challenge. Labs are almost impossible to get 100% on due to her ability to find the most irrelevant errors within the document, nothing to do with physics but with her pleasure in making students life more difficult.

I had external circumstances which affected my studies and received a D the first round but an A the second. Her classes are difficult, but she will help you learn. Do the homework and study. As someone who is now an electrical engineer take note: it gets worse before it gets worse. This class is easy compared to what will come your way.

I have taken this class now twice if I end up failing again, I am changing my major and dropping out. This teacher has been so bad I have questioned more about if I should drop in her class then any other combined. I have spent 40+ hours a week studying and I still feel like I am drowning.

This teacher and class made me start going to my therapist more often. I went for help and Collette marsh instead of offering helped asked if I was mentally disabled before correcting if I had a IEP. My lab partner had an IEP and I learned she threaten to not allow students to use it if they did not submit the request within 12 hours.

Overall an ok professor. Grades a bit harsh, if you don't use the exact methods or formulas taught in class you're getting points off, she does want you to do it her way. Test heavy for sure, about 6 exams (1 dropped), 50% worth of overall grade. If you attend the lectures and do the labs and assignments and, you're set to pass.
