She's ok. Can't really say much about her
not clear at all
Whatever you do, do not take this class with her, Take it with someone else and if all clases are full wait till another semester, im warning you!!! I learned my lesson
She is disrespectful of students and communicates very poorly. Our midterm was on 14 chapters; she explained that it was to be on management theory, not definitions. 40 or so questions were on definitions. Nothing has been consistant with her.
Fantastic class! The industry analysis is intense, but somehow you get through it. Gaglio is very inspirational and has a great rapport with her students. By the end of the semester, you feel like you're now part of a family (those who have made it thr
She is a very smart and inspiring woman. I learned a lot from her class, although the tests were sometimes hard... I used the study guide tests as a pre-test and it really helped.
Her exams are way too difficult. She gave me an F for the class and I never really missed class. What a waste of time and money. I was going to drop the class but didn't. Should have, though.
Gaglio is one of a few Prof. that have come from "the real world" and has "real world experience". This doesn't nesissaraly mean they are a better teacher. Teaching itself takes skill and experience. This class was easy for me. But man
She was unclear on what material would be on the tests, therefore tests were very difficult. Group discussions took up way too much time, and she doesn't even give you full credit for most of them. If you want a good grade, I don't recommend this her
Her exams were confusing and lecture were tedious and boring. I applaud her knowledge in her area of management but for students who just want to learn the basics of mgmt through the textbook, I don't recommended taking the course.
Her midterms was so unclear. I worked my butt of that class and still received a failing grade.
horrible....do not take this class
The material that she expected the class to know was unclear.. this class is not worth it.. take another one for sure!
Lectures are interesting but long and packed with material. Group discussions and group work on blackboard were helpful but tedious and you need a really involved group to learn or get anything done. Tests were very difficult but I still got a B. It isn't impossible.
Gaglio is a hard teacher. But if you want to be an entrepreneur the world isn't going to sugar coat things. If you are truley interested in starting your own business this program is the one for you. It's designed so that you are starting your business by the end.You MUST do all the readings and tests ARE HARD. The industry analysis is VERY HARD.
Horrible professor with no teaching skills. No timely feedback or explanation of the assignments. She ended up giving the ENTIRE class an INCOMPLETE. Many students transfered out of the entrepreneurship program because of her and are in the management department now. Avoid this professor, you've been warned.
She gets a bad rap mainly from students who don't have what it takes to be entrepreneurs. Her grading can be ambiguous, and feedback can be delayed, and assignments can be unclear. This is all part of her way to prepare you for what it's like to be an entrepreneur. Only for the tough and motivated. A+++ Professor, keep it up Dr. Gag!
Gaglio is not a great teacher. Students can leave their comments about how hard the "real world" can be, but the truth is she is not "preparing" the students for anything real that may occur when starting a business. Bottom line, don't expect to learn anything from the course. Put in the work and effort for yourself and your dream in spite of her.
Should teach ESP. No one knows or cares what the hell she's getting at. Go AWAY!
worst class ever.Doesn't give you any feedback or answer any emails. Is rude and unpleasant when questioned.Does not teach skills necessary to perform to her standards.terrible class.
Certainly not a fun class--she prides herself on the intimidation factor. But like she says--you've gotta bring the fun. So far you don't have a choice of professors for this course, but they're currently working on hiring new instructors. Stick it out if you can handle it.
Do not expect to learn anything from her unless you have no previous knowledge in business at all. She was the worst instructor I have taken and I have over 140 units completed so that says a lot. She will even tell students they don't know anything or they wouldn't be in the class. I personally recommend students to switch to another concentration
She has a lot of great and knowledge and you can learn a lot from this class. However, she is not a teacher and the major is full of problems. I recommend taking this class but do not continue with the program. You may be dropped at anytime without warning and there really is a lot of BS involved.
She is an "entrepreneurship" teacher, but when asked what she has under belt...you will find that she is very vague. She has some great knowledge but she is a horrible leader. She will tell you she is worth a lot and she teaches by choice but lets get real she needs the job and she has never started a successful company.
This lady is really an excellent professor. She is trying to make the program actually worth something. She is trying to bring a level of prestige to SFSU-something it definately lacks. This class is extremely hard. You have to eat and breath it. She really knows her stuff and will give you a fair grade.Good luck with the industry analysis!
Ok, this class is not for the weak of heart. Here is the secret and it's a good thing. This class is set up for you fail and fail. It's done on purpose to weed out those who don't have what it takes and to only keep those who truly want it. If you do your work, your assignmnets may be C,D,F's, but you will get a B or higher in the class.
This teacher is ridiculous!!! She doesn't know how to teach at all!! Her opinion is full of her own bias!! She doesn't care about the students!! Reply emails usually after few days even though you have an urgency!!! She doesn't explain things clear. She told the whole class the exam wont base on the weekly quizzes, but she used the quizzes as final
Gaglio knew her material but wasn't very clear. The class was online and she would take a week to respond to a simple e-mail. She can be rude in the mandatory classes if you ask questions. She made the class harder and more complicated than it should have been.
Definitely the hardest professor I've ever taken. If you want to suffer- take this class. Welcome to all-nighters multiple times in the semester and being talked down to constantly. She even tells the class that she tries to fail you because she doesn't want people to take this class if they are not really interested in becoming an entrepreneur.
Terrible teacher. Plays favorites. Does not answer e-mails. Accuses students of something they didn't do, and there is nothing to be done about it. If she doesn't like you from the beginning of class...good luck!
This is the worst teacher I've ever had. I know that she's trying to prepare students and show them what it's really like to be an entrepreneur but this is SCHOOL!!! She doesn't give timely information and returns grades weeks later. She is so unclear, not helpful, very biased and self absorbed. She doesn't tell you how to do assignments, and do
HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!! THIS TEACHER DID NOT START ANSWERING STUDENT EMAILS UNTIL THE MIDDLE OF THE SEMESTER. THE GRADE ON ILEARN SHOWS A WHOLE LETTER HIGHER THEN WHAT I ACTUALLY RECEIVED. SHE POSTED THE GRADES THE DAY THEY WERE DUE, AND ASKED US NOT TO EMAIL FOR SHE WOULD NOT RESPOND, WE MUST SEE HERE NEXT SEMESTER, ONLY FOR CLERICAL ERRORS.
Easy to get 100% on the online quiz's (big part of overall grade). The other part is sim and sim journal which is easy to bs through. Don't stress about online grade because it will prob be higher.
Dr. Gaglio is a great professor. She has opened 4 companies and was very successful. She is extremely knowledgeable about entrepreneurship and the class material. I found her motivating and stimulating. Half of your grade is participation, so speak up! I am serious, you will fail the class if you don't talk. The book is necessary for daily quizzes.
Best Prof I have ever had BY FAR. I learned more from Dr. Gaglio's classes than I did in all my other classes combined. This is no exaggeration. Beware though, If you are not interested in learned and being pushed, this is not your best choice. I had Gaglio for her Entrepreneurship program which lasted two years. This program changed my life.
Not too easy and not too hard. Just do your work and dont expect her to really help you throughout the semester. She seems to get annoyed when you visit her office hours.
Hybrid course, which means you meet once a month and the rest is online. Weekly quizzes and you must write on a forum and watch videos. This class is very easy, although much of the learning is own your own. Final is just all the quizzes accumulated FYI. Class is really quite easy just have to stay on top of your work and you're good.
Dr. Gaglio is definitely one my favorite instructors that I have had. Her class was very interesting and brought a lot of depth into the world of business which is most times looked at through a black and white perspective. Super cool and helpful plus she truly cares and wants you to succeed. Not sure what more you could ask for from a teacher.
Professor is awesome! She is a true Business Woman with a real interest in teaching her students. Must read a LOT, quizzes every class based on reading. Class participation "required" but she grades fairly liberally. In-class essay Final. You will learn a ton.
overall this class is easy, weekly online quizzes that are based on VERY LONG chapters, so have to read the book for sure and mandatory video lectures! i hoped the final would be cumulative of all the quizzes, however, i was SO wrong! she put weird questions that were neither from the book nor from her lectures. Oh, and she's got an attitude...
Dr. Gaglio is direct and to the point. Her weekly lectures gave the bulk of the required material for the course. If you keep up with the work - the final is a piece of cake. I recommend her as a teacher.
Terribly boring and long lectures, 15 quizzes with 20-25 questions and a 20 min limit. 15 lectures that range from 2-3 hours. All of the above is worth 60 percent of your grade, so that means the final is 40 percent :\ quizzes only cover the reading; the final covers readings quizzes and lectures. Dry material. But ehhhhh....
Just took the final for this class, even though I came in with a solid 86%, she grades the finals so high that after I finished, my grade dropped down to a C-. I did all the weekly quizzes and watched the videos, but the questions seemed to come out of her butt! Yes, I failed the final. And yes, she takes forever to respond to emails.
This professor is terrible and has a terrible email response time! She is also not flexible or open to feedback! The material sucked, was irrelevant to the class objectives and seemed to be based on her own outdated notions. I don't recommend this class and suggest you find another class and professor.
This class is very easy to pass if you read the assigned chapters in the book and watch all the videos she posts(you get points for doing so). I did horrible on the in class final but I still managed to pass with a B-. If I had actually studied I would've done better.
(Winter) Great course, super intense, however it's one of my fav classes. Concepts and the book are important, professor Gaglio connects book events with everyday news. Since it was winter attendance was mandatory. Lots of work 2-3 chapters per day, quiz every day. If you want to learn this is the class. If you want an easy C this is NOT for you.
One of the best professors I ever had in SFSU. She is very clear and is always available to give advise. It was a tough course but definitely it is worth it, because I learned a lot in her class. Participation and attendance is mandatory.
I don't want to seem unnecessarily rude, but I couldn't stand to watch her lectures due to her pedantic tone. I'm sure she's knowledgable, but I wasn't at all engaged by her teachings. Take the quizzes, open the videos, and take the final. As far as online classes go, it was OK
Terrible teacher. Unclear. Does not reply to emails. Self-absorbed. Gets difficult questions out of her butt on easy material. Does not care about her students. Rants about herself. BORING. Gives too much homework. USELESS. AVOID.
The worst professor ever. TOO GENERAL. The material was not so great. Every lecture, she says: "the most important".....and everything was very important - so i didn't really know what to remember from a particular lecture because all 2 hours were "very important"
She is a mess when it comes to keeping the grades up to date. Final is kind of tough but you have to use your logic rather than reading or memorizing her videos. It should be your last resort when it comes to choosing this class.
You will be ok as long as you study the reading assignments and watch her videos. Her class is not hard. I got B+ with minimum amount of study. Final questions are from her assignment videos not from reading asssignments FYI.
Normally an A student but I did not watch her lectures. Honestly, I would try to AVOID taking this professor esp if you don't need this class. If I spent the time to watch her lectures, I would have done better. I really understood the material, read a lot and by the end I got a B+ Her final is TOUGH which is 40% of the grade and I barely passed.
Honestly, it's almost impossible to not pass this class. I only passed a handful of the weekly quizzes, and got a D on the final, but still passed with a C. I was very interested in the material at first, but found it hard to stay focused with her boring videos.
She's a tough grader but it pushes you to improve your writing. Getting into groups was always anxiety producing because of the possibility of having to present in front of class with only 5-10 minutes to prepare. Besides the that and the C I got, I love the class because I learned so much more than any other class.
This is as close as you will get to getting your money's worth at a university level and to real world and practial experience. Be ready to share what you've learned from the readings and have some common sense on the top themes discussed in class. Practice critical thinking! She truly is cultivating future business leaders.
Don't take Gaglio for 682 unless you want to read 60+ pages for a 10 minute quiz every week. Yes, she expects you to remember details from every article and chapter assigned. Weekly reading and quizzes plus 4 memos and a written in class final. Participation is also VERY important to your grade.
I would not take her class again. She makes you read a lot, they are 13 quizzes each 3 pts. Not easy question very complicated they are not straight forward. 4 memo in which memos are not clear so you end up not answering the question. Participation pts very important but whenever you want to say something she tend to disagree. I don't recommend.
arrogant Professor. would not rec.
A few warnings about Gaglio: do not turn anything in late (even by a minute) because she will not accept it, participate and make yourself known, and do not miss class. I did not personally prefer this teacher, she had very arbitrary rules enforced often and was unnecessarily harsh in plenty of situations. Surprisingly, the 3 hours does fly by.
Gaglio, that's right, she doesn't deserve to be called a Dr. or a Professor, is the worse instructor I've had at SFSU. She cannot moderate a discussion, thinks she's always right, her daily quizzes are more like riddles. I put in an incredible amount of work and learned nothing in her class other than to "choose my instructors wisely."
Weekly quizzes based off 30-40 pgs of reading. Articles were always relevant, but some Qs were not. If you want 100% on the quiz, you need to highlight everything and reread. Grade based on quizzes, participation, 4 memos, and writing final. Writing was difficult, as her criteria is vague. Good businesswoman but needs improvement as a prof.
Like really..? Students AREN'T ALLOWED take notes with a laptop with the reasoning being that the "seminar is about participating and listening to your classmates' input." 90+ WPM here, and I can listen and participate just fine while typing notes; I'm assuming she can't multitask, so she believes no one can. Written notes are much more efficient..
Trick questions on quizzes. Unaccommodating. Contradictory, won't let you type notes because it detracts from participating, but you have to write notes?!? Expects you to understand the reading completely and quizzes you before she explains the concepts.
This professor assigns 80+ pages of reading for a 3 point quiz...
She is a great business woman, but not a great teacher. She gives out extremely strict guidelines as if we were in elementary school. She assigns 40-50+ pages of reading for 10 question quiz. She thinks the world revolves around her class. I only took her class because her's was the only one available.
She freaks everyone out at the beginning. Her weekly quizzes are hard, I failed most of them. lol... Business memos are hard too, she is a hard grader on these crazy memos. She does care about whether you talk in the class, and gives you a participation grade Every Class. But just to follow her pace, you should be fine.
Avoid this professor at all costs. She will not value differing opinions, and will stomp on you with useless information if the student's view does not align with her own. She I s not clear with assignment requirements, and expectations. Points are deducted and will not provide an explanation for doing so. Avoid altogether.
A failed entrepreneur who treats students like elementary kids. Pros: Stresses critical thinking, discourages useless blabbering, or "filler words" in essays and speech. Cons: Shows no compassion for the student, lacks the ability to motivate, unnecessarily strict, unfair grader who grades on how she feels rather than logic, has RBF
The course material and discussions were fascinating. However, her grading system discourages everyone. She has a photographic memory and is ridiculously strict, precise, and detail-oriented, lacking the awareness that most people don't have her talent. Because of this, she will dock you for blunders that you weren't even necessarily aware of.
She seems intimidating at first, but if you go along with her flow of the class you should be fine. Make sure to do the readings. She gives you tons to read but it is very interesting and inspiring. Overall shes not that bad, just do your readings, participate in class, speak, and you will surely pass her class. Its not too hard besides the reading
I'm in her class for this semester, but lot of students that I know, who took her class previously, or dropped her classes to avoid failing the class, are telling me to drop her class as soon as possible. Recommendation fears me so badly, but i don't see her as evil Proff. It seems, she is a vary nice person. I agree lot of work, I'll do my Best!
She made this class a lot harder and more complicated than it is. Do not take her class!
She's not a BAD professor in any way, but she is demanding and strict, and she pushes you out of your comfort zone. Her memo prompts don't completely make sense, and she does pick a lot of videos for the quizzes (sometimes longer than the quiz). She is knowledgeable in her field and the discussions are interesting. Effort is key in this class.
She is a classic teacher that is rarely seen in the modern day. Her syllabus is well prepared to let the student gradually know and understand the concept and use it associating with our daily life. You have to read lots of things for weekly quiz that makes sure lazy students will fail. I like her style, cuz u must learn it hardly.
Save yourself. Don't take her class. 60+ pages of reading and an online quiz every week. (3% of grade each) Quiz questions are from her persepective. It's easy to miss the question even if you know it. She uses Comic Sans and is unclear about her assignments. Participation is MANDITORY to pass! (2% of grade) A failed entrepreneur and professor.
Hypocritical, tells students not to make arguments against people personally but takes her frustration out on students. Loves to hear herself talk but speaks way too much about her love life. Would not recommend, she takes everything too personal.
very tough grader... confusing ... will make you hate silicon valley and all the tech companies ... only sees the bad side of it .... imposes her view .... readings designed for PHD students and not bachelors .... do not take this class .... very stressful ... and by the way if you're absent... its going to significantly lower your score ... avoid
1 group project as the final, TONS of reading and videos to watch as hw. Class is mainly sitting around discussing the readings and videos. Online quizzes and participation count as 60% of your grade. 3 one page memos through semester and harshly graded. She is interesting to talk to but class was annoying sometimes. She Made class harder
Professor Gaglio expects a high level of work and attention from her students which isn't necessarily a bad thing. She is very clear on what you will be graded on and if you show up to class and do your readings each week you will pass the course with a solid B. She may have a strong personality but isn't as bad as some of the reviews say.
Dont hesitate at all, take this class yes, its a little work but it worth it in the end. Dr. Connie does expect a high level of work but show up do your work and you will pass.
absurdly strict on grading,, not open to outside ideas/opinions,, shut down students mid sentence during lecture multiple times due to their opinions not aligning with hers,, has mocked students due to the questions they've asked,, overall probably the worst professor I have encountered at SFSU. Please avoid if possible
I do not care what your english level is I do not care if you think you are a hrd working students because thats what everyone thought before taking her including me. I have been getting As in all my class for the last 4 years, she gave me D. She is super strict for no reason. you try to explain your opinion she wont listen and be disrespectful!!!!
Avoid this professor AT ALL COSTS!!! She over complicates all of her instructions. If there's a misunderstanding, she will blame the students for it. At the start, she polled us on how she could be more accommodating, big hunk of bull.. She doesn't listen to her student's concerns and will not answer questions if it contains criticism.
Asks students how to improve class during a pandemic but doesn't implement them, overcomplicates the grading, says students are wrong/don't care about the topics discussed just because POVs are different then gets mad when no one wants to participate, HW instructions are confusing, "i'm not changing how i do things just because you're struggling"
She is insane because she doesnt care about student. No one can read her writing. Ton of reading, some videos and short essay/summary every week. If you make looking good documents, she wont give you an A. I can tell she is having fun in her class but students are not. She force to turn on your video and participate a lot. Dont waste your time.
One of the hardest classes I had ever taken at Sfsu but as long as you do well on the quizzes (I got 83% total) and get decent grades on the modules (70% or higher) and show up to lectures (got 80% participation ) this class is passable. Got a 71% for the final exam and 74% total for the memos and passed the class with a B.
She has an incredibly rude and abrasive teaching style. Grades participation harshly, don't expect to only talk once and receive credit. She provides no rubrics, yet is picky with who gets an A. After class participation was also a pain, she grades that incredibly harshly as well. If you're an excellent writer and well-spoken you'll do fine.
Took professor gag last semester and she was one of the harshest professors at SFSU. Be prepared never to receive full credit on any assignment, and 9/10 times, she will leave rude comments on the feedback. She brags about her business success, but it's highly questionable if she must constantly rub it in her student's faces. Find another class!
She's uh... interesting. She has a very abrasive personality and is generally pretty unsympathetic. If you are good at dealing with narcissists this class will be a breeze because you generally just tell her what she wants to hear and she gives you a good grade. Just dont think for yourself. The class is easy but dealing with her is genuinely hard.
I learned the most in her class than any class that semester (I took 5 classes). She is very smart, and has a lot of business experience that she doesn't hesitate to impart to her students. If you pay attention and take notes, you will be just fine. Complete all assignments, show up, be prepared to write. 10/10 I would take her class again.
She picks clear favorites. Her grading makes no sense. She'll give you full marks for something, then you repeat, and she'll give an F. She was nice in class but her grading system was terrible, unclear, and subjective. Also pushes for questions and gets mad when class doesn't have any. Overall wouldn't take again, be warned this was a tough time.
absolute worst worst professor. Makes everyone's lives hard cause hers is hard. I would NEVER recommend any classes from her. It is a DISCUSSION class NOT a lecture. Lives in a world where she thinks that everyone can read her mind.If you don't have the same answer = 0; your opinions = 0. OH Hale Mighty Gaglyo. SFSU needs to do better.
DO NOT TAKE IT WITH HER. She has one of the weirdest grading schemes I have ever encountered, and you will have to fight with every single assignment to get a half decent grade. She likes to mass blame the class for minor issues, and is frequently pessimistic about literally anything. Upon the end of every class, it is expected you write an essay.
The toxic attitude that Gaglio had toward the students, was marked by open animosity towards any kind of question made the experience terrible. Her sense of entitlement throughout the semester made participation unbearable. I would warn others about this emotionally and taxing experience because my time with Gaglio I felt to be worthless.
She has a massive ego and is incredibly abrasive in the manner in which she speaks both in lecture and to students. The class is discussion-heavy and your individual grade will be penalized if the class does not participate to her expectations(which are not outlined). Her grading is also sporadic and vague, as is her feedback. Do not recommend.
Gaglio's class is a tough one, but using resources like unstuck ai alongside the textbook can really help navigate her unique grading style. Stay engaged and be prepared to write, as her feedback can be subjective.
