She is soo awesome. She is incredibily intelligent, funny and easy to talk to. Connie knows how to teach, while many profs do not. She definately is someone I look up to.
Good teacher and is willing to help.
Good teacher and is willing to help.
She is an awesome professor and an equally incredible person. Connie is one of the best professors I've had. She makes the class interact but its a lot of fun. Can't say enough about her!
The best teacher I've had so far! She's awesome. She explains everything very well and let's you know exactly what she expects. She made me think about things is ways that I normally wouldnt have. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
Connie was an awseome instructor. I am a non-traditional student and she was the first class i took when I began college. She engages the class and makes it fun while actually teaching us something. She can be hard sometimes but she's a teacher, it's a must. If you have the chance, take her classes!
Connie made this class fun. i think she is a great teacher and if you have a chance take one of her classes. she makes it easy and fun to learn. i got a lot out of her class.
Excellent professor. Tests are simple and common sense knowledge. She is passionate about this class and is willing to help you understand. Take her for this class
Great Teacher, best I heard for HERS 204. Simple, but you learn a hole lot. Funny professor and not that hard of test. I would take it in the summer if you can, its a fun time.
It is actual not a bad class, she really keeps people intrested in what she is teaching, Her lectures aren't boring.
She's pretty intimidating for a little woman but she really is a good teacher and enjoys teaching about health. A lot of internet worksheets and quizzes but they're pretty simple and only 4 tests.
She's great! At first a little intimidating, but she is passionate about her teaching and has fun energy! You'll learn a lot from her
Wonderful professor. Her lectures are never boring. She loves what she does and it comes out in her class. The work is easy and so are the tests are ok as long as you study the material.
she is an awesome professor! id advise to take. shes passionate about what she does. makes lecture very entertaining. also very easy to approach and willing to help.
She's really nice and helpful. 4 tests, not that hard, and a bunch of really easy group activities
I think she's great. She's funny and very nice. A lot of energy. Lets you use book and notes on tests. Easy class.
She is a great professor, lots of energy, very helpful. Class is easy, tests online are open book and notes, participation points for showing up to lab and easy online activities. Tests or not showing up are the only way to miss points in her class. EASY A!
She's a really good teacher and the class isn't too difficult. 3/4 of the tests are open book/note and can be taken online anywhere. Although they are pretty difficult. Overall, it's really easy to get an A in this class!!! Take it!!!!
If this class was taught by anyone else I would be asleep (especially since it's at 8am monday morning). She really knows her material, and presents it in an attention getting, real-world way. She's great!
She's hot, intelligent, and very helpful with any trouble in the class. She's one of the few teachers I've had that does a remarkable job at actually teaching. The class is difficult because of the 3 in class exams and presentation. Take it day by day and you'll do fine.
Connie is a very influential professor. She relates all the information to us, which makes it more interesting. The material is challenging, but studying and doing well on the homework helps your final grade. She is very outgoing, very approachable, and enthusiastic. If I could take her for every class I would! TAKE HER CLASSES!!! :)
Connie is super nice. She might come across as cold-hearted. BUT SHE IS DEF NOT. She's awesome.
Professor Mettille is truly a wonderful professor. Take her. At first, she may seem intimidating but you can't help but like her and she'll teach you a lot. You'll definitely use the textbook for the exams which are open book (besides one of them) and the tests aren't necessarily easy but you'll get an A if you show up and do the work.
Mettille was a great teacher! Super nice and easy to understand. 3 out of 4 of the tests are open book/note. If you go to lab and lecture you will have no problem passing.
Best Professor I have ever had! Made things super clear in class and lecture. Even though you have to show up at 8am on Monday mornings, she makes lecture so interesting that it doesn't even matter! I enjoyed this class so much I am taking the next level of it next semester with her as a professor again! Take this teacher! But pay attention in class
You have to study but this is great class to take! Go to the lectures because she gives hints of what you need to study the most for the tests.
Her lectures are fun to listen to and is good at preparing her students for tests and quizzes. She is also pretty hot for a teacher.
She is a really down to earth professor, and is very easy to relate to. Her lectures are usually pretty interesting so go to class! You learn a lot from her!
Absolutely LOVE Professor Mettille! By far one of the Best professors in the HERS department. She is extremely passionate about what she does and wants to share her knowledge with everyone! I would highly suggest taking her if you are able too! Always willing to help and gives excellent advice! TAKE HER!
Connie is wonderful! Super nice and helpful. I loved her class and got an A. The only thing I suggest is make sure you study for the exams; although you can take them on your own time, it's really hard to find the answers quickly. Her exams aren't easy!
Honestly one of the best teachers at Winona State. We are promised the best of the best and this professor definitely gives that to you! I never want to miss class and its easy to wake up at 8am for because she is such an interesting teacher. I would take her for all my classes if I could. Super approachable and HONEST! TAKE HERRR :):):):)
This class is really hyped up. The lecture is not that interesting. The tests don't come from the lecture either. The tests are timed and you only get 45 minutes to take them, which is hardly enough.
She is pretty easy except on the tests she can trick you on some.
Professor Mettille is really nice and her lectures are pretty interesting, but they don't have much to do with the tests. I listen in class but do bad on the exams. The rest of the class is super easy though so that makes up for it! I'd say she's one of the best professors I've had so far.
She is the most interesting lecture teacher ever. It's an 8am class but she has so much energy and majority of the time keeps your attention pretty well. You have to go to the lecture even though there are like 300 students because you get participation points for 3 random ones. Take this class!!!
She is kind of crazy but that is exactly what you need for an 8am class! If you can handle her strong personality then you will like her and her class!
easy to listen to. take her for p and c health
She is very animated and engaging, despite the fact that the class is a 400-student lecture. The material is pretty straight-forward, but she keeps it interesting and makes it all connect to your life. The tests are fair and open-book.
Connie is super nice and it honestly does help to pop your head into her office, make sure you get Pooch as the lab instructor
I took this class online and it was super easy and less work. Print out the power points and write notes in them when reading the chapters. You have 3-4 tests all open note because its online. There are random assignments and papers that are easy A's as long as you do them. If you take it online you don't have to take a lab which is less work!
No textbook. Two exams -- essay. Three presentations, 2 in front of small group and the last one is 30 min group presentation. Take good notes and really study for the two exams they are not easy. Connie is very over the top and make sure you do everything how she wants it.
I loved Mettille! her class was not difficult and she made going to Monday lectures at 8 am bearable. Her lectures are pretty much always interesting, and her personality makes you want to be in class. HIGHLY recommend taking her!
LOVE HER. SHE CARES!
It was a fairly easy class. Only four exams including the final and midterm. 3 of the 4 are online, open note and book. Wednesday 8 AMs are cancelled after about 5 weeks. There is a lab that goes along with the course--easy. There is an online "assignment" once a week. You don't need to read the chapters to pass the tests.
Professor Mettille is quite the jokester! Do what she tells you to do (especially with the tips she gives for exams) and you will pass the class with flying colors! I had lab with Kyle Poock and he was just as great as Connie Mettille in lecture. Test questions are literally word for word out of the text book so READ.
Connie is a great professor, even for 8 AM lectures on Mondays. She makes the lectures fun and energetic. As long as you go to lab and use your book on the exam, this class will be an easy A.
The class itself was fine and easy. But I found Connie to be pretty annoying during lectures and full of herself. Also, anything she tells you will be on the test WON'T be on the test.
If you do your assignments on time and show up to lab you'll get a good grade. 3 out of the 4 exams you were allowed to take with friends and help each other look up answers in your notes and textbook. Prof Metille's lectures got long sometimes but overall was an easy class.
Connie will change your life if you let her
This class was a breeze, and I also actually learned things to take into my own life. This class really makes you reflect on yourself and how you can improve your quality of life. Very easy A type of class. You have 3 tests which are open book open note, and 1 in-class. You do reflections and a survey every week(just do them all the first week)
Mettile's classes are HARD- But they're that way because she actually trains you to be a competent healthcare worker. I think I learned more in this class than several other college classes combined. As a Public health worker, I started using the class techniques and notes immediately after college- and still do.
Mettille has a very inspirational personal story. I'm not a health major, and this class was not too hard and interesting. Don't worry if you miss a lecture or two (you won't miss too much). Go to lab, though.
Solid teacher.
Connie's lectures are fabulous. Best professor to have at 8 AM. She is passionate about what she teaches and the class is quite easy.
Mettille is a great professor! Her 8am lectures are always entertaining and she never runs out of energy. All the tests (except the 2nd one) are open book and open note- including the final. If you stay organized and print out her powerpoints you will do fine.
Connie is super nice! She will go out of her way to greet you before/after class or if she sees you on campus. She's a good lecturer, but I wish she went over things a little slower than she does because in lab you don't get as much content covered either with your other professor. Tests can be hard if you don't do some studying.
This class is useless, but if you need something for you to pull up GPA? Here you go. You just need to show up and write something, you can get an A. The first exam you can find it online and have the answer with it, the last two exam just have the question online with no answer. So good luck with your easy A.
She was a fine professor but not very understanding when I took her online. I wouldn't take her online if I were you. Take her in class if you can.
She was not understanding at all, and never had clear instructions. Don't take her class!
lectures are not mandatory even though she says it is. make sure you go to lab though
Professor Mettille is very passionate and is a super interesting person to listen to, lectures and lab were enjoyable if youre interested in health and wellness. 3/4 exams were open book/open note (including the final) but you still need to put in effort and read the chapters because her test questions are often super specific.
Professor Mettille is super loud so be ready to be alert. She is very passionate about health and fitness, so has a lot of personal stories. Sometimes it feels like she is trying to rub how fit she is in your face which can get a little annoying. All of the exams except for one are open note, but they are still quite difficult.
Professor Mettille is a really good teacher. She makes a big lecture class at 8 am really engaging and fun. She's and amazing lecturer so I really wanted to go to her class just so I could listen. The exams are very book heavy so read every chapter. There are 4 exams and only one is not open note and open book. There is weekly homework but, easy.
The tests were EXTREMELY specific, for example, asking the exact year for certain questions & having close answers for the options. This isn't an issue, but it only works for a certain amount of students. I feel as if this professor did not care about you as a student. Extremely unfair and actually disgusting. Would NOT recommend to anyone.
Connie is a super funny, up-beat teacher. However, HER TESTS ARE IMPOSSIBLE. The things she tells you to pay attention to for the test are right but make sure you study A LOT. The questions are so specific. The night before wont cut it. Her lectures can be either fun or super boring. Depends on what you like.
Connie can be very funny and entertaining but in my opinion is just too loud and energetic for an 8am class. Her tests can also be hard and very specific.
She is a very upbeat person, especially for morning lectures. Only nice thing is that after the first 5 weeks of class, you won't have to attend lectures/speakers on Wednesday. Tests are heavily point based and is where the majority of the points come from
She speaks to her students like they are brain dead. Condescending, rude, loud, and is the literal embodiment of a self help book.
I had to take this class for my major, but I would definitely take again. She is BEYOND CARING! I have never seen a prof care so much and be so understanding of her students' lives and wellbeing. You need to show up for every lecture, and the tests are hard. But most tests are open book and online.
Connie may come off as tough sometimes. To be honest, in past classes I have had with her, I didn't like her. She gives a lot of tough love. But this tough love is for your benefit! She is so passionate about what she does and is so inspiring to watch lecture. I have learned so much from her over the years. Truly amazing professor and person!
Show up to class, do the cengage activities, turn in reflections and HW and read from the textbook. Super easy A. 3/4 exams are open book. Profs just care that you show up to class and turn stuff in. You don't need the powerpoint they provide if you read.
I had HERS 204 at 8 in the morning, but Connie was such a burst of sunshine in the mornings I believe she evolved me into a morning person. Lots of interesting and useful information is taught in this class. Professor makes it fun.
Connie is a hoot and a half, very memorable for a variety of reasons. Be sure attend lab and lecture, read the book, and complete any required activities. SO many points in the grade book, exam scores are not as important.
Prof Mettille is a hard one to like. She is constantly talking about her life and how good it is compared to all of the college students lives. It gets old really quick. She also wears a mic, but she wears it so far down her clothes that it does not even work, so she is just yelling into the audience the entire time. I would benefit from better lec
Connie comes off as very tough but she is also very kind. Her lectures are very upbeat and loud which can be a lot at 8 am but her content is straight-forward and she makes it hard to fail her class.
Connie is frankly a little obnoxious. She loves to talk about herself, and all of her accomplishments. The class is super easy though. I never went to lecture, just make it to lab and do all of the online assignments and you should be fine. Oh, and the tests are open book, with all of the questions being straight out of the book. Pretty easy A.
This class is fairly easy, and her lectures are interesting. It seems she has good intentions, however, she can be very unapproachable, and sometimes it seems she thinks her way of thinking and doing things is superior to others. I still enjoyed the class, and she had a lot of energy to keep me awake so early in the morning!
Connie is a very good professor. She is smart and knows what she is doing. Lab for this class does take attendance. This class was easy if you do all the work and the exams were easy to study for.
Many students say she is intimidating, but give her a chance. Any professor who tells her students, "You are enough, you're a big deal, and you are worth it" is worth getting to know. Her lectures are the best. Read the book and take good notes to use during exams and you will be fine.
Im very surprised by the good feedback on this professor. I found her to be very hateful, and my peers and I agreed that she was a terrible professor. I wrote down some of the awful things she said in class and considered taking them to the dean, but instead decided to just keep my head down and try to tune her out every morning.
Many students on here think she is great. Let me tell you, she is NOT! She is one of the rudest and unprofessional professors I have ever met. She embarrasses students and makes everyone feel awful. This class size is 20 kids, so she really gets to know you and embarrasses you in class. She swears at students and makes hate comments.
I have had Connie for a couple of classes now. She is truly someone worth knowing. You can literally see the passion she has for what she teaches. She can come off intimidating at first but know that she just so intensely wants her students to succeed. Her knowledge on mental health is astounding and you will leave the class feeling so empowered.
day 1 of the class and she was yelling at the freshman for not knowing what to do at 8am their first day. it always feels like you are walking on eggshells when interacting with Dr. Mettille. You just sit in lecture hoping she wont call you out or interact with you.
I only had her for the lecture part of the class and I would not recommend taking her for the lab portion. She makes her expectations crystal clear and jumps at the chance to call students out. Lecture with her only happens six times in the semester which is nice!
Connie Mettille is an overall great professor, acts tough at first, but definitely knows how to give a good lecture. Even though all of the exams are open book open note, get ready to read the textbook word for word. There tends to be a good number of statistics on the exams.
Dr. Mettille can be very intimidating at first but she is very respected in the HERS department and knows what she is teaching very well. I only had her for the lecture portion of the semester and i enjoyed her. The exams however are difficult and go very in detail with things in the chapter. Overall i would take her class again!
Connie Mettille's class was just fine. Had her for the lecture portion of this class and was not amused. SO rude on the first day- being intimidating can be fine at times but she was just plain out mean. Tests are unbelievably stupid in the sense that they have many correct answers for certain questions and there are things that aren't in the book.
I only had Professor Mettille for the lecture portion this semester. She was very intimating to me. Make sure to attend lectures and labs because you get points just for showing up. Make sure to carefully read the book. Almost all of the questions are pulled straight from the book, but some of the answers you really have to dig deep for.
Lowkey kind of scary. Yelled at me the first day because I wasn't talking to people. Make sure to show up on time and do not dare to get up during class, she will call you out. READ THE TEXTBOOK, otherwise the tests won't go the best.
Very organized, strict, unwilling to compromise, intelligent, high expectations. 4 tests in this class, switches between lab and lecture every 4 weeks then you have a test. Tests are only on textbook, but lectures are mandatory and attendance is graded.
I did not like her teaching style. The assignments were fairly easy, however the tests were extremely difficult. You are given 45 minutes and it's almost impossible to know what will be on it. It's open notes/textbook, but it is really hard to flip through and find all of the answers in such a short period of time.
Amazing professor. Gives a lot at the start of week but is easily manageable. Easy to talk to about regarding anything personal or school-related. Not strict but won't put up with nonsense. Very engaging during lecture and responds to everyone personally on assignments.
Connie can come off as very intimidating at first, but she just wants to make sure that everyone understands how the class will work. She is very educated in what she teaches. She is always trying to learn more and trying to be the best professor that she can be. Complete the work on time. She won't accept late work. Tests can be difficult. Read!
Very strict about everything during lecture. Will call you out during class if you're not sitting in the right spot and will embarrass you in front of 200 people. Lectures are pretty easy and go by fast but she isn't the nicest person ever and likes to call out students. Being in her lectures gives students a lot of anxiety.
Connie can come off as very intimidating at first. Once you talk to her a little more, even one on one, she is a very sweet woman. She cares a lot for her students and wants everyone to succeed. She can make some out of pocket comments but usually she's okay. Had her for a mental health course and she was very passionate about it.
She is easy to listen to and relates the material to real life. You either like her or you don't, but it's pretty easy to figure out. If you have a bad attitude, she isn't for you. Show up and do your work and you'll be okay. Tests aren't great but they're doable, especially with all the other work in the gradebook.
She is a good teacher But, She doesn't like laptops out of her old school and still doesn't know when it is 2023. This is a technology college. She told us one time during class halfway through that we couldn't go to the restroom. Saying in my head she said what?! Are you serious? This is college last I check. This isn't HS again.
Lots of pointless HW
I will remember Connie Mettille forever. She taught me so many life skills from this course and made me a stronger person. She definitely gives you tough love rather than comfortable love, but it will seriously benefit you in the long term.
Dr. Mettille kept telling the same stories over and over again, and honestly none of the notes from her lectures mattered on the exam. Just keep the textbook near you on the exam and go to lecture and lab for the attendance points and you'll get the same grade. I wish there was a way to avoid her and take 204 with someone else.
This woman is wild. Tries to keep the energy up for her 8 AM lectures, and I still don't know if it worked. If you have the pleasure of having Connie in lab too, my semester it was monday at 10, than just say whatever she is looking for. It's better to have her like you in lab, not because it effects your grade, but because she might eat you. lol
She has a strong personality that takes some getting used to. She can be patronizing at times but becomes more chill as the semester goes on. Read and highlight the textbook, most test questions are copied verbatim from within the chapters. Assignments are basically free points, and attending one extra speaker is easy extra credit. Easy pass.
Her lectures are kinda pointless. The homework is very easy, but the tests are impossible. It's the time limit, it's 50 questions and you have 45 minutes. The tests are open book but during the exams the questions are impossible to find in the book. I think she should have the tests be 50 min for 50 questions.
The class meets every Monday, but only the first 4-6 Wednesdays. The tests are online, they are open note, but make sure you read the textbook before. Each week there is a video quiz, reflection, and survey due. Fairly easy class, good professors.
The lectures were not the most helpful, she gives you the power points to print out and take notes on but then makes up her own slides anyways. She's not mean, but definitely stay on her good side. Easy Homework, and If you tab main concepts in your textbook you'll be fine, as the tests are open book. Put some effort in and you'll get an A or B
You can tell shes passionate about what she does. Lectures are very good and easy to grasp. Attendance isn't mandatory which is nice. Pretty easy course, put in some effort and it's an easy A or B
This class is one where you just have to show up and do the work. Dr. Mettille is serious, but very respectable. She has a lot of energy for 8am on a Monday, but it helped keep me engaged in the content of the class.
Professor Mettille is accessible outside of class. She responds to emails very quick, which is very helpful since the last half of HERS 204 is online.
Lectures can be hit or miss, but the homework is easy. Focus on the textbook and you'll be fine. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for exam prep - highly recommend using it alongside the open-book tests.
Mettille is strict without being rigorous or mean. She is very detailed and dedicated to her job and wants you to do well, and is clear about expecting the best out of you. The homework is consistent and on a week to week basis. She is good at analyzing every aspect of her teaching in a way that helps people. I'd strongly recommend 204 for anyone.
She is a good professor who is clearly very passionate but she has a big personality.
