you gotta put some time for this class, not easy at all with a teacher who has strange policies. if don't get a C or plus on the first exam, she will give you an F for the class..be aware of that. over all, she is good.
Although she is nice, she digresses alot. Her class is tough because the material can challenge your personal beliefs. No positivity to the class. Forced interaction with people of other cultures. White people are bad, bad, bad!
Constance seems to be pushing an agenda. More liberal than today's media (Probably a good thing) but I don't think this much is good. And as far as her opinons go, it seems they are based too much on emotions. Let's stick to the facts.
she has an agenda. comes off arogant. she kinda underminds your opinion - like she'll say "i see what you're saying, but what you really mean it this..." very boring. i wouldn't recommend her even at gun point
one of the best. hands down. do your work earn a good grade, if not, you get what you earn. thats hard for the ' freash out of high scool' kids to understand. a real pro at what she does,shes clear, and helpful.
I learned a lot in this class but was one of the few to get an A. She grades very strict on the essays and presentations. This class was frustrating and I wouldn't especially recommend her.

She always gets back to the current war on everything she talks about. Dont know how she manages to do that. Everything on her class is hard, except the first exam.
I really didn't think she was all that bad. I would definitely take her again if I needed another ICS class. Her class is work, but come on this is college, it's supposed to be. Do the reading and attend class and you will do great.
This woman rocks. She has her whole heart in global issues and is more than willing to offer help if you ask. Her notes are organized strangely, but they'll make perfect sense if you do the readings beforehand. Her study guides are straightforward & if you follow them and study hard you'll do great.
If you are thinking of taking this class, I beg you not to take it! It seems that if you are a good student such as 3.8 GPA. Her goal is for you to not get an A or B. She looks down upon anyone like they are dirt. Her tests are very unreasonable. Her presence around you makes you feel uncomfortable.

Knowledgable but has too much pride as a teacher. Puruposely making the learning experience hard in order to show her excellence in IR stuff. I liked the material but hated the way she discourage students to not apply to certain colleges cuz "they won't get in." We shouldn't have that at school.
There's A LOT of reading for this class. If you're prepared and study a little hard, then it's possible to get an A. She likes people who are outspoken.
Being honest, I do not know if she is such knowlegable. Her opinion is often bias to be a teacher teaching global issues. Her attitudes and exceeded expxtation also sometimes discourage students who try to put effort to get better grades. After all,she seems to favors only chatty students whether they are knowlegable or not.
Cole is horrible! She has a condescending attitude and plays favorites with students that she knows from her previous classes. If you do not agree with her political/personal opinions on the world you will have problems in the class. She actually insults you in feedback on essays. Hard grader. I would never take her again.
Nice person, but this quality is overshadowed by her enormous ego. Assigned reading was not really tied into her lectures as i expected. Her lectures are derived from her "ominiscent powers." I admit, she knows alot, but along with that, she expects the students to know just as much. This is a GE, no one is working on their doctorate. Hard squared!
Sucks ass! Favors some students over others. And although she claims to welcome differing opinions, she doesn't. For the sake of your grade, just agree with her and try to sugercoat those things as much as possible. It's like she says, "I am the Hegemon." To receive an A, put aside personal thoughts. My advice: Just play the game.
JUST DON'T. Her favorite word is Hegemon, which is code name for Constance. Your own opinion is not valid. Plays favorites. Likes to talk above you. Zero tolerance for lateness or unexcused absences. Tends to take things personally. Will give second chances, but don't mess with her or you'll be sorry. She can grow fangs in an instant, so be warned
Prof really knows her stuff. She can be a tough grader, but gives you chances to even things out; it can seem intimidating, but she is very fair, if not overly lenient. Can sometimes take the stage during presentations, but at least she has interesting and relevant information. Overall I hightly recommend this class.
SHE IS VERY HARD I PERSONALLY WOULDN'T RECOMMEND HER. I DISLIKED HER TOPICS AND DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE WOULD BE TALKING ABOUT.

Extremely biased in the material. Hostile if she doesn't like u. Didn't answer my questions. Thinks she's better than u. Hates me but I just showed up late ONCE.
NOT RECCOMENDED!! She was very unhelpful to all but 2 students whom she favored b/c she had them before. Went off subject screamed about how she didnt like our classmates, never fully explained anything she was teaching. Claimed people only fail her classes when they dont read their books/handouts, and refused to help people w/low grades.
i can say she's good, but the class is damn hard. she loves students who speaks up and i can say she's a bit picky. she wants everything perfect. i did my best in writing an essay, still i got C
the thing i disrespect her for is that she allowed her outside beliefs to influence her class. she belongs to a political group who told her "no business as usual" when bush invaded iraq. she had to change her final to a take home. i only passed her class because of that take home final; if it was an in class final, i would have failed! she's rude!

This woman loves the sound of her own voice, and she loves to give her opinion. The funny thing about that is she makes the class appear to be based on facts when it's just her opinion. It's not a hard class to take it's just her that is the problem. If you can manage her "opinions" then you can handle the class.
i would agree with those that say she is indeed very picky! when writing her essay, let me warn you that she does read every single word, and refers back to the textbook if neccessary. her final was pretty easy. the students make their own questions and the class votes on the best 10. i did a bad paper, but she graded my second paper twice.
she completely lets her opinions rule her lectures. she always talks about how her class is so great for transfering to UCs but she lets you use pt14 font. it doesnt make sense. i can tell shes not a wmst teacher by training because she doesnt really understand it as well as other wmst profs. take Myhre or Winters!

Most of these comments are petty. If you don't plan on putting forth the effort, you'll fail her class. It's essential that you take good notes and read the material until you get a good idea of the concepts, because her tests mainly focus on critical thinking. I didn't always agree with her, but I always felt that I was learning something.
This professor is different to say the least. If you can't write well and hate reading do not take this class. She is huge on papers and group projects. Her lectures are based on her opinion. She is a feminazi in every sense of the word. Be prepared to work your tail off. She is also a stickler to attendance.
completely opinion based, but this class isnt an easy a. Cogency takes a backseat to the all important paragraph limit. Cole claims her class isnt political but that doesnt stop her from blatently perpetuating her own political views. Cole "welcomes" critical thinking, but in reality will penalize it. I agree with all the bad reviews and comments about her. She might sometimes welcome critical thinking and outside knowledge during lectures. but, she does NOT like extra information on the quizzes, tests and finals apart from the class lectures and text-book. Its useless to have prior knowledge or know more because its not going to be appreciated.
Definitely not an easy class but you will learn a lot. She does like projects and writing assignments and her grading can be pretty strict but she is willing to help students outside of class if necessary. Sometimes she acts as though she knows everything and may put her foot in her mouth.
I thought it would be an easy class but NO! She lectures on an overhead everyday and it doesn't pertain to any quizzes, papers, or the final. She is such a feminist and not very understanding. She'll make you look like a fool if you don't know the answer to a question and definitley plays favorites, especially towards men in her class.
I took her class in the summer so the class went by really fast. She gives alot of reading and her expectations are high. This teacher wants quantity&quality. If you want an A, always do more than what she ask. She is really strict and mean to those who doesn't share her same belief. Hard grader! But is really kind if she likes you. Allows rewrite.

This professor constantly flip flop her assignment. I gave 110% in this class and still end up with just a C. You are better off not having saying anything in her class otherwise you will be on her bad list.
Her opinions are based on her knowledge. yes she is strict when comes to grading paper, but she is also a thoughful person and be flexible. Put in effort is what you need.

Her instructions for assignments are simple enough, but it's the many restrictions on them that make them hard. She is paranoid about plagiarism, to the point where you're not sure where not sure what you CAN write. But she clarifies her instructions if you ask. If you go to class, do the essays, and participate, then you will receive a good grade.
She is tough. You MUST read all the assigned readings. Nearly impossible to argue your point of view with her. She has her PH.D and she WILL use the full force of her doctorate degree to 'slam' you with it in front of the whole class. But she is a nice person who will help you, if asked. She is easy to talk to when she is not teaching.
She is nice with a smile, I have done all the work she asked for and I really respected her, she accepted to answer my questions, but she didn't let my group mate continue our presentation, she thought we were BS-ing, however I researched very deeply, I took 3 other classes, and I worked on this one the most. I expected an A, but she gave a D-.
I had 3 other classes, Math212, writ200, art2f. I worked and put the most time on this class, and at the end she gave me a D. Because 1 of my grp members didn't come to class for the prez. actually she a very nice women. she can talk to you nicely and answer your questions. my class this summer of 011 was really cool and fun cus the ppl in it.the teacher wasnt too hard on assignments either.1 debate 1 little critique easy and 1 mid term and 1 final. nd 2 map quizes. she is just a hard grader.i thot i wud have higher than a d- 4tryng
She is a great teacher, extremely helpful! I learned so much in her class. At first I was not interested in the class at all but I needed to complete my units to be full-time. Within the first week she pulled me in! The class is amazing!
Ms. Cole is a good teacher, she's very helpful, and us very understanding to students who need additional help, as well as letting you miss a class if you have an exam in a different class on the same day. All you need to do is show up on time, don't use electronics in class, don't talk to friends in class, and do your assignments, and you'll be ok
She has a lot of knowledge ,but I think she intends to make it hard and complicated . I feel very uncomfortable sitting in her class ,my passion for women studies is what kept me going
Despite the class being global issues, if you have an opinion that strays from hers, keep it to yourself. She will not let you argue or defend your opinion. She takes attendance Final exam was on the articles read in the textbook. She's helpful with extensions and questions but don't bother arguing with her on current events even if she's wrong.
You'll get a lot of bad reviews about her but please disregard them, they're probably freshman. She is wonderful!! The best thing to do in that class is communicate. Emails seriously work wonders with her. If you're confused with anything let her know! Its an extremely reading heavy class so just make sure you do the assignments and you'll do fine!
This class was very interesting! I learned a lot about a variety of cultures. She's an AWESOME lady that knows her facts, so when she corrects you don't get offended. Do the readings, all of them! It makes the exams a breeze. The more participation in class discussion the better, things get pretty interesting. Highly recommend if you actually care!

This teacher made me want to learn this subject; very devoted, minimum requirements; she is polite and friendly with students if you are well educated, and respect her, she will do the same; i saw saw in some cases that stdents came in middle of the class while she was talking, and just passed in front of her to take a seat... Bad feedback if so
Pass up this teacher, find someone else, or another course to take for the necessary credit.
Professor Cole is very knowledgeable so if you want to disagree with her make sure you know your stuff and be open to learn. You absolutely need to do the readings in order to pass the mid-term and final because they are specific. If you find yourself confused at all email her until you understand. She is a very strong, respectable woman.
This is an intercultural communications class yet most of the opinions and communications comes from her. Any opinions or discussions beyond her point of view will be shut down. There's a difference between passing along knowledge and being a know-it-all, and she is the latter. Grading follows no specific pattern beyond opinion.
Subpar teaching and unwilling to help. Tried to express my willingness to learn and my dilligence, but treats you like a number, not a person willing to learn. Should've taken online or chosen another course. Half the class nearly failed and the other half barely got a C. She also humiliates and embarrasses you in front of everyone.
I was disappointed in how she teaches the class. Instead of writing down everything she is saying, she should be spending class time making sure we understand the reading, concepts and her expectations. She can be very rude and demoralizing during presentations. Her lectures are confusing and not productive to understanding. All over the place
If you don't like participating, this class will not be an easy A. Professor Cole grades slightly hard and offers only two extra credit opportunities- which are also graded hard. The class is a bit of a drag and she will put you on the spot for getting a concept wrong and interrupts you a lot, esp. if you are "wrong" when expressing your ideas.
Professor Cole is a great teacher! She is really passionate about intercultural studies. She never came across as rude or strict, in fact she accepts late work, and will allow you to be absent 3 times without question. She is also really quick with replying to emails, i find that the best way to ask her for help. She is GREAT!
This is a great class. The professor is very resourceful and is very aware of the world. Her lectures were clear and portray a different perspective. If you are not ignorant about the world and is eager to learn, she is probably the best professor for this course. She may be very harsh on criticizing your ideas only to show you the flaws in it.
Tough Grader. Expects you to be able to know everything in the book on the tests and quizzes. First class that I took where we read the whole textbook. She is nice and kind and she curves test scores and final grade. She knows she grades tough but still does. offers extra credit that can raise your midterm two letter grades but it is graded hard
Midterm is kinda tough, final is a little easier. She gives you extra credit opportunity which helps a lot! Lots of reading, but they're interesting and short. Just make sure you understand the material and you should be good.
Professor Cole knows her stuff! Like the other people on here, I too felt like she was a tough grader. She expects a lot from you, but it makes you a better student because of that. Book is a must, and you need to be comfortable speaking in front of class.
The course was definitely not an easy A by any stretch of the imagination, but it was extremely constructive. Some people seem to get somewhat offended by her unyielding grading, but it's only good in that it sets you up for improvement. In short, be prepared to get out of your comfort zone.
Professor Cole's class consists of readings and reflections, participation, and tests. If you're a shy turtle, steer away from this class as you must speak every so often in order to receive participation points. Readings are usually a few pages and are interesting, but if you don't read then you risk not passing the class or losing points.
She definitely embarrasses you in front of everyone when your view is different. Does not respect the students. Does not give good feedback. Her point of view or there's no point. I would not recommend her to anyone. Do yourself a favor don't bother taking any of her courses unless you want to not transfer.
Very critical but only for the best. If you follow her advice your grade will definitely go up. I was able to go from C to A quickly. She made a lot of people uncomfortable but that is the whole point of her class. She wants to make you question everything and I think this really caught people off guard especially with topics like gender and race
Tbh Cole is a tough woman, but she means well for the most part. She really just wants you to learn the subject but you're not allowed to have an opinion other than hers. She plays favorites but my suggestion is to get on her good side from the beginning. Speak up in class and read and you should pass!
Under no circumstances take a class if she is teaching. If you have a different opinion from hers she doesnt want to hear it. She will cut you off before youve finished your first sentence. Its counter intuitive to how I believe history should be taught and has hurt my appreciation of art.

Cole talks about daily news to pretend she's smart whatsoever but its hilarious that she always have slightly wrong information. Her classes are very quiet, she says she wants people to talk but she cuts you when you say something she doesnt like, so she's the only person who talks at the end. Her tests are extremely hard.
This lady needs to know what she's doing cuz I honestly have nothing that Ive learned. She cancels classes whenever she wants, talks about how she feels today and test preparation needs to be done by students themselves. I regret every single moment that I go in, so never take this class!!!
Very tough on grading and it's hard to know what answers she wants to be heard. Cole is very boring and she won't lecture anything. Making myself a study group and ask classmate if they might wanna join were only thing I could keep my grades up.
Maybe she needs to go learn how to teach someone and learn some manners as well. Tests are based on what we never go on in class so make sure you have to teach yourself! Very picky on grading assignments.
She just "lectured" about whatever she wanted and told stories that were semi-related to the chapter assigned that week. The tests are on whatever she thought was important to know. But if you pay attention in class and skim the chapters you should do fine. If you do not like group projects/presentations, then I would not recommend this class.
Professor Cole makes you do oral presentations, throughout the course based on subjects you've viewed and tells you you have to ask the audience questions without lecturing them, but she interrupts you and often goes against her original requirements. Also, the book used is online for free, but it is outdated and she frequently criticizes it.
Terrible. Closed minded, judgmental, and very opinionated. Will ask for your thoughts in the subject and if its not aligned with her thinking she will tell you you are wrong and you will be in her doghouse. She is a feminist which she proudly declares and if you dont agree with her views you will have to work hard to get a C-
Do not take anything by her. She constantly contradicts herself on what she wants and will rip you apart if you dont anticipate what she wants. She has no clue what she saids before and then will make it up as she goes. If you hate yourself then do it but if you dont then spare yourself.
Please do not take care if you want to save your GPA. I have been doing so great in this class thinking im getting perfect scores only to find out by 8th week that I kept getting Cs from her on all of my papers. You never know what your grade is because she doesnt use Canvas and her grading criteria is awful. A lot of reading and unnecessary work
I seriously wanted to egg her car and throw my laptop at her face. Attendance is MANDATORY. Her grading is completely whack bc even when u follow all the req. she STILL grades u down. She doesn't let you wear shorts when presenting(again, WHACK) and her lectures are just her telling her useless life stories. Spare yourself and avoid her.
Got my first B, and I worked harder for this class than any other. She spends most lectures explaining how she wants presentations/papers to be structured when that time could be spent teaching. Instead, you walk out confused and spend most of your time figuring out how she wants it to be presented. No room for creativity. Over half my class failed
If we had questions, she told us to consult with other students (when she's the teacher?!!??!) Very lazy. She didn't support my learning at all. Her class is boring and stifles creativity of students. She wants us to say what she's thinking (even her tests are fill in the blank) and you won't have the support you need to pass this class. Avoid!!
Worst teacher I've ever taken in my life. Be prepared to listen closely to what she says and write everything down. Her quizzes are based on what SHE SAYS, not what the textbook says. Make a friend so you can study together. Avoid her all together. You'll spend most of your time trying to figure out what she wants you to say.
She isn't a difficult teacher but she wants her students to structure their work in a specific way. Anyone who deviates from her structure (i.e. including "personal experiences" in discussion posts or "not following instructions") will be graded down significantly. Her process stifles creativity but if you do things her way, your grade will improve

Worst teacher EVER. I got an A but can honestly say I didn't learn anything. I spent 90% of my time thinking of how she'd want me to word things for quizzes and exams (as other reviewers have said.) She needs to retire so this class can be taught by someone with more passion for Intercultural Communication. Don't take ANY class taught by her.
After having completed other Art studies and English classes, I'm sure that this is the most heavy reading class I've taken so far. Also, you must attend the meetings for participation points and to get a better idea of what she wants you to write about. It's not insanely hard to get good scores, but it's a time consuming ordeal writing it out.
Very emotionally driven about the subject, which sometimes comes off as aggressive. The textbook is heavily flawed and she'll say you're wrong when referencing some of the text. Picky grader. I spent hours on single-paragraph hw responses and rarely got full credit. The final essay is hard and can improve or harm your grade by a whole letter.
This professor is not helpful at all. Instead of helping you understand what you might have said or understood incorrectly, she just shoots down your grade and tells you you are wrong. Very aggressive and strict on grading. I do not recommend taking this class.
The toughest grader I have ever seen. Ask for weekly reflection for the reading material, but regardless how you wrote it, she would give me either 0 or 3 out of five. I have spent quite some amount in reading and participating the discussions and give peer feedback. She gave me a zero based on one mistake.

Professor Cole is so bad that I have to sign up and comment. She's teaching a communication lecture while she's a bad communicator. Nothing useful through her feedback and only some subjective words from her own perspective everytime, which makes everyone in the class confused about the grading rules. Personally not recommended, just run.
This is the bad professor that I ever had in my life. She always mentioned about respect, ethics, politeness,... But how come she is a very bad communicator, she used words that are very disrespectful to students when she makes comments on grading. I did all of the hw for this course but never received full credit for any of the assignments.
Professor Cole is an extremely hard grader and she is not very respectful when giving feedback or responding to emails. Students are afraid to email her because it is likely they will get a passive aggressive response. Avoid this teacher if you can.
I was lucky to get an A in this class, the grading criteria are 'clear' but how they're applied is Not. I've proofread failed assignments by my classmates that I considered on par with mine. Half the assignment could only be done via Email, including the final, which meant you had to manually count your points to figure out your grade. Textbook ok.
This is the worst professor ever. Horrible ego, not very helpful, miserable and pathetic. I feel sorry for all the students who have taken her courses. STAY AWAY
she is very strict with submitting the assignment even when you are 2 minutes late. Her discussion needs to be her specific expectation.

Grading and expectations are confusing. Weekly hw is talking to someone different ethnicity from you, convo need to pertain to chapter and video of that week. VERY unreasonable, especially those with work, or kids. Times to submit are specific (8PM TH/S) and won't accept anything a minute late. Annoyed as all other teachers are 11:59PM SUN
Was a very frustrating time during this class. Professor expects you to follow EVERY little detail she wants, will grade down an assignment for grammar or even providing too much detail or too little. Final was just awful, and you were expected to get a PERFECT grade in order to pass the class.
I got an A+ from her during the summer. She gave a lot of extra credit option but no video recording nor lecture. Just book reading. Not a good class take.
Originally I was so excited to take this class. However, it ended up being my worst experience with a teacher. Unclear expectations, confusion over her grading, abrupt with her communications, and her use of canvas was frustrating. Without my discord group I would have lost my mind. I was so disappointed by her. Do not take this class.
Tough class with picky grading. Use Unstuck ai and study groups to navigate expectations. Textbook is useful, but attend class for clarification.
