Prof. Bapes is one of the most understanding people i've ever met. He is very passionate about what he is teaching which makes class so interesting..he only teaches in the early morning but it is well worth taking. He grades extremely fairly and is as nice as can be. Definitely take his class

very easy and very helpful

EASY CLASS! Mr. Bapes was really nice. He shows movies at least 2x a week. Tests are all essay (except the 1st one some multiple choice) very easy and gives you the essay questions. you pick 4 out of 8 questions. Gives you extra credit on the 12 writing assignments. TAKE HIM! YOU'LL LEARN A LOT!

Prof. Bapes is a very easy teacher, as earlier mentioned in other comments 3 tests and 2 writing assignments. He shows movies almost everyday and usually they r very boring. but overall very easy class. take Humanities 101 with Mr. Bapes and u'll get an easy A++++++++++

GREAT teacher! Humanities should be an easy since his class is just basically a history review class of what you should have learned in high school. He requires you to go to the Chicago Art Institute and write a 5 page paper and see a play and write a 3-4 page paper and finally give three, 2 minute speaches, that is the only homework you really do.

A 78% on an exam equals a grade of an A??? WOW!!! VERY EASY A!!!

Professor Bapes is one of the best teachers I have come across. He likes to talk a lot, but he is so enthused about his work, and really went out of his way to help me catch up when i missed class for two weeks. He gave me an A, although I dont think I deserved it. TRUST ME. Take his class!

Dean Bapes is a very good teacher and I highly recommend him as a teacher. His class is very easy and you will have no problem getting an A in the class.

He is very nice! You can tell he really loves teaching and is very passion about the subject matter. You have 2 papers, midterm, and final. The 2 papers and midterm were easy but the final was very hard. I would take his class again!

Good teacher! He loves what he does. Few things to remembr. Be on time Show up and Try your hardest! If he sees you doing all of these things you will get a good grade. The class is basically a visit to the museum, see a live performance, two oral papers (easy), mid term, and a final!you really cant go wrong with him. You will learn alot TAKE HIM!!

I really enjoyed Bapes. On the last day I was actually disappointed that I would not be coming into his class anymore. He keeps it interesting through his stories, movies, slides, and current events. Definitely recommend Bapes.

his classes are early. i thought it was boring. he is extremely knowledgable and you can tell he has a true passion for what he does. good class for people who really want to learn or want an a. he gives you way more information than you need to know for tests. easy and fun projects.definitely curves grades.

Dean is a teacher who loves what he does. Don't be late, its one of his pet peeves. i dont know how to describe him, he is just an overall great guy with awesome insight and really takes what you have to say to heart.

Easiest A you will ever get, 2 in-class reading assignments, 2 projects which he just gives u an A for doing, 2 midterm exams - now if u know how to give an exam smartly you will get an A without even opening any notes or book, take him, very helpful

he is one of the best professors in college of dupage.He is giving you 2 project. he takes midteam and final exam.he also takes two presentation in the class. he gives you study guide for that. if you want to get A in humanities-1101 then you should take this professors.

I had HUMNT 1101 and 1102 with Bapes. He is a wonderful, emotional caring man that cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He owns a sports card shop in Naperville called Dean's Dugout. He cares what's going on with you outside of the classroom as well. Great professor!

Definitely recommened. Extremely kind but at some times boring so make sure its a 50 minute class. Just a few major assignments. The class is worth taking if you need gen eds..learned more than I expected.

he's a good prof but really boring. I could have passed the class by watching the history channel. He doesn't use the book so don't waste your money on it either. just attend class on time and write the paper on something you already know and you'll be golden.

This class was very easy. His power points are really good and he makes a point for what he talks about. You only have two papers in the class which is to go to the Chicago Art Institute which I absolutely loved and to attend a concert of some sort and critique it. You also watch movies in his class. The final is very easy as well.

Encouraged students and tests are not tough, books are o.k when you need paper reports as inspiration. Museum visiting needed. Tests are about essay. Presentations are finding web mtrls he gave so you can get an A easily. He cared attendance very well. I lost 6 so I got B.

Bapes is cool, he is a really nice and helpful guy that really wants his students to do well. The problem is, he talks alot. Many times for the entire three hours we had class there was nonstop talk or just showed boring videos. In the end, as long as you study the material, you'll do fine, and maybe become more interested in the subject.

Very easy teacher. No homework, very few assignments. He talks A LOT. I didn't prepare for that. Very boring class! I would always be on my phone or talking quietly to my friend in the back. My interest in this class was low. However, take it if you need to fulfill your Humanities requirement! He's easy and you'll get an A!

Very nice and lectures most of the time. You have to go to the art institute for a paper, make it really fancy and you'll get extra points! Write another paper, easy too. But I haven't learned anything even after going to the class. But take it for humanities requirement. Textbook is not necessary. If you ask questions, he will get really happy!

I really liked my summer course with Dean Bapes. He's very friendly, passionate about mythology, and was very understanding when I had an emergency and couldn't come to class. If you show up and do your work, easy A. Also, we had no tests.

He is a cool guy, but the lectures are crazy long and there is no homework so its hard to really know where you are. Even though you may not understand much, if you look through the book before a midterm or final you'll still probably do well. There are 2 papers due, and as long as you turn it in you're almost guaranteed an A

I took his class over the summer for the 8-week course. It definitely is a lot of information at once. His lectures are very long and could be hard keeping up with the material but he shows love for what he does. Midterm and final was a simple project on a topic pertaining to what we are studying. Overall easy class

2 papers (on the art institute + a live performance) the midterm was a project/presentation, the final (not sure yet bec i didn't finish the semester) but overall, bapes is a cool guy. The lectures go on and on, but he shows cool pictures and scenes from movies like 300 and Gladiator. he's just a cool guy, very friendly too. dont buy the textbook

Only few major papers throughout the semester. He assigns them in the first few days of class and they aren't due until mid October and mid-November. Class is extremely lecture based and sometimes slightly boring but overall, easy credit. Highly recommend him.

Professor Bapes is a wonderful teacher. Goes a little off topic from time to time but overall a great class. I took his World Mythology class and I actually enjoyed it. Not the most exciting lectures but I would recommend this professor if a student needed to take this course.

Easiest class I have ever taken. All of class is just videos and some lectures. Class can be boring but there are really only 4 assignments and as long as you meet all the requirements he will give you an A. Only flip side is that the he will drop your grade if you miss more than 4 days but cant complain.

LOVED this class. Mr. Bapes was super nice and his class was super easy. We did get off track, but only because we spent lots of time learning about Greece and Rome which was something he's so passionate about. Midterm and final were super easy presentations and we only had to write two papers. One was about music and one was about the art museum.

Bapes was such a great professor. being hesitant to take humanities since im not a fan of history, he made class 100% times better. the book was not really necessary but just helped me understand the lectures more. This class was an easy A. 400 total points: Class attendance 25 points, Participation 75 points, Report on trip to Art Inst. 50 points, Report on live performance 50 points, Midterm Exam 100 (Just an essay on topic of your choice and presentation on that essay), Final Exam 100 (Just a presentation on your topic). If you can, take professor Bapes.

Professor Bapes genuinely cares about his students. With COVID I fell behind on my assignments and after emailing him he still let me turn it in without penalty. As for the course, attendance is mandatory and the work load isn't painful. Very fair and doable, mainly just writing papers. Definitely take Professor Bapes if you can.

Professor Bapes was extremely nice and his class was so easy. You have 2 essays and 2 presentations, and you don't have homework. Do not buy the book because you won't use it. He talks a lot about his personal life and gets off topic a lot, and all you do is watch movies and listen to him talk. If you want an easy A this is the class for you.

Professor Bapes is very knowledgeable. If you like Greek mythology, then you will love his lectures. There was a midterm and a final where you have to prepare a 5-7 page essay and slides based on your essay. You will get an easy A on the essay and slides if you follow the prompt. Took the online World Mythology class. It does focus on Greek Mythology more so if you love it this is the class for you. You can tell he is passionate about what he does. 3 papers the entire semester, super easy. He's so nice and is easy to reach outside of class. Take him if you can!

One of the best professors ever his class is really easy and there is only 3 projects (including midterm) they are all easy and fun to do. No test or quizzes whatsoever but he plays a curve ball on midterm by letting you know about it only a week before but I think its more then enough time to do the project. Professor Bapes is a solid choice because he doesn't assign any homework besides a few projects that you will complete throughout the semester. They are all very easy and if you meet all of the criteria then you will get an A. Do not buy the textbook, he will say that you need it but I personally never used it and still got an A in the class.

Overall easy course. Textbook is not needed. No homework. Graded on only a few projects and a paper or 2. He does take a while to grade, so be on top of your work because you won't know your grade till the end of the semester. He does tend to go on long tangents, but can be very insightful and caring. Not very tech savvy so be patient and kind.

You don't really have to participate much in this class. Your overall grade is dependent on how you do on very few assignments but they are easy as long as you make sure they are detailed and provide a lot of information. He does have lecture heavy classes, but if you do well on all of the assignments you will do well in the course guaranteed.

It seems like he talks about whatever he wants, which is most of the time being Greek. Besides that, it is super easy to get an A+ in his class.
