Consuelo is very difficult to understand. Her style of teaching is intimidating and demanding. She requires students to have extensive background in history and Political Science in order to participate in class discussion, which is manditory for each class period. She spends time bashing countries that have caused difficulty for her home country.

Hard to understand and follow her thought process. Asked for way too much information on exam, while giving way too little time to finish.

course guildlines are never fully defined. She comes unprepared and late to class weekly, while demanding hours of prep work from her students each week. I have never had a professor that made learning this unenjoyable. Found myself extremely frustrated all throughout the course as well as BORED. Consuelo is a passionate teacher and does mean well, but her style of teaching was not for me.

She is one of the worst professors I've had. She will embarrass you by asking you questions in class you can't answer. She is the slowest grader. She is rude and mean. Her strong accent is always makes me confused. Can not remember student's name through out the whole semester. Assignments are too much for a intro rhetoric class. Just go for another professor.

This is the worst professor I met in college so far, everything she said is so confusing and pointless, she is passionate of the class but it completely make no sense to any one, even someone is bilingual. She is very rude to international students, always asking pointless question make students feel awkward and bad.

I came into this class thinking it was going to be fun and exciting. On the first day, she seemed very nice and that all changed. Once the semester went on, she became rude towards student (especially international) and made it hard for students to state their opinions because we were always wrong. Absolutely atrocious. This professor means well, but is extremely disorganized, has difficulty taking student feedback, and assigns meaningless and confusing papers. I highly recommend taking a different professor, even if it means taking the course later. Its not worth spending a semester in misery trying to interpret a mess of instructions.

It's either her way or the highway and if your opinion doesn't match hers, it's wrong. You will get soooo many readings and multiple projects at one time(that she won't explain). Your papers and overall grade are based on the effort you put into class and how much she effort she thinks you put into it, not the quality of your papers and speeches.

If you're going to take rhetoric with this prof., don't. Of all people I've talked to with different professors, nobody has disliked rhetoric more than myself. She isn't open to opinions that differ from hers, her directions are extremely unclear, and the readings you do don't make any sense in relationship to the class.

Terrible instructor. Left every class confused and unsure of what we needed to do for projects. She was late to class and never replied to emails or waited till night before. She was always rude and overtook class discussions while students were presenting. Projects were so much work. Had to write a 12+ page research paper for a 15 min speech.

I did not believe in self-torture until I took her class. I read the reviews and thought I can tough it out, I'll be fine. I was wrong. I'm only 4 weeks into the semester, and I regret everything already. She is very unclear in her assignments and dependent on tests and papers. Do not take this or any of her classes. If you value your sanity, please don't take Consuelo. Every assignment is unclear, and if you ask questions she gets angry. If you don't agree with her, you're wrong. Despite being from Columbia herself, she is blatantly demeaning to international students. She has a strong accent, so if English is not your first language, it may not be the best.

If anything summarizes this class the best, I've seen one of my classmates drop this class in the middle of class and walk out. It's never clear what is expected of you in regards to assignments- of which there are an insane amount, I did 2 formal speeches and 2 formal writing assignments on top of numerous class presentations. AVOID THIS TEACHER.

This professor does a horrid job at explaining assignments and will have you more confused than when you started. She tells random stories that have nothing to do with the content and it leaves us behind and she rushes through important information. Any other professor would be better than her.

Horrible Rhetoric professor. Assigns WAY too many projects, including 2 speaking assignments and 2 writing assignments with long requirements. Reading quizzes are WAY too difficult and she requires that students buy/rent textbooks for no reason. Gives harsh and unhelpful feedback and is a really tough grader.

Avoid this professor at any cost. Assignments were unclear and sometimes never discussed or clearly posted. One major assignment was graded before finals week so you never knew your grade. She assigned an insane amount of homework and had us prepare an entire speech over spring break. Students dropped this class over halfway through the semester.

Do not sign up for her class. She is demeaning and rude. Not only is her class difficult, she is a difficult person to interact with. She assigns big projects but will not clearly identify criteria. She'll get annoyed that students ask clarifying questions that wouldn't have to be answered if she had initially described the project clearly.

Consuelo Guayara is horrible and rude. She demands you participate in class and when you do, she gets mad at you for not knowing the material right away. She is not thorough with her assignments and doesn't explain them well. She is the worst teacher I've ever had and I'm considering dropping because of her. Don't take her class.

She is horrible at communicating requirements for assignments, making all the papers frustrating. Class is boring and tedious and she requires everyone to speak. She will literally ask a question and go up and down the rows making sure everyone says something. However, she is pretty lenient with due dates. Avoid her if you can.

AVOID! Grades leniently and is very flexible with due dates, which was a god-send since the rest of the course was from hell. Very unclear about requirements, rude, and does not respect opinions. Tears apart projects in front of the whole class and interrupts. Required to do service learning which was extremely difficult to fit in a busy schedule.

She was never clear on what she wanted from you for your major assignments and was rude and quick to shut you down when you didn't know the material or had questions about the material and was overall not a good professor.

She is going to ramble for most of class about stuff that doesn't really matter at all in the scope of the classroom and she will then assign you a project without clearly giving directions and you have to guess what she is expecting most of the time. Please think twice before you enroll in her class because she may be the worst rhetoric teachers.

Please do not make the mistake of taking her rhetoric course. She requires a lot more from her students than other rhetoric instructors will. Some examples include community service and a small time frame to write a harshly graded rough draft. Although it is possible to pass with a good grade, it's mostly busy work and very little learning. Don't.

Extremely difficult to work with, doesn't teach anything, gives confusing assignments with very little clarity or direction, takes basically the whole semester to even start grading assignments so you don't know your grade until it's too late. Gives more work outside of class than other professors. My roommate took the same class and had half the work. Class time is spent listening to presentations and talking about the book you have to read (not graded). Very poor at explaining what she is looking for in your papers. If you do have her, she likes when students volunteer to participate.

Just don't. She is unhinged and flat out just mean. I get so nervous going to class not knowing what might happen or if it might be me shell decide to pick on for the day. She gave another girl in my class a panic attack and I totally get that. My roommates class isnt like this so do everything to avoid her if you can she's a walking nightmare.

Very unclear in her expectations for students and describing assignments, or really anything. She also gets angry if you ask questions or for clarification. She bullies and demeans students in class. It got so bad I wanted to complain about her treatment to the university but she seems vindicative so I just kept my head down and got through.

Don't be fooled when she says there's only 3 assignments. Be prepared to work with no rubrics and conflicting verbal instruction. And if you don't understand she's likely to get mad. The class is NOT worth the grade, if you can, try and change instructors because she's giving grad school levels of work!!! Don't be afraid to tell your advisor!!!

Then she gets mad when you have questions or don't understand or don't automatically do exactly what she wants or was imagining. She makes fun of students who do have questions or challenge her and belittles them. Terrible experience. Take someone else if you can.

Do not take her class unless you have to. There are so many papers and subpapers and presentations required. She'll grill you in class if you dont elaborate enough to her liking (even about small things like what r u thankful for). She does not provide explicit expectations and then grades hard depending on her imaginary expectations.

I get anxious everytime I come into her class, she always calls on people randomly and will antagonize you if you get her question wrong, she has an accent you can't understand, she doesn't give any clear instuctions at all, she doesnt use her rubrics she makes up her own directions, we waste half of class reading useless artciles.

Worst teacher I have ever had in my life. When she asks a question she will go in a snake and make the entire class answer. Homework are very long essays with no direction on how to get started. Your thesis will never be good enough for her and she didn't put in any grades until the last week of the semester so I didn't know what to expect. AVOID!!

Instruction is hard to understand. Lots of reading homework. Terrible grading and feedback. Little time to complete long assignments. Revised my first draft 24 hours before final draft was due after she extended the entire class deadline 5 days.

This is the worst rhetoric class you could take. She makes everyone read a bunch of articles in class that doesn't count towards a grade and everyone has to participate in discussion. Her feedback is very demoralizing. She doesn't grade until end of semester. Also grades harshly and makes up her own expectations.

If you are assigned this professor, drop. Essays due every week, barely any feedback, and doesn't input grades until the very end of the semester, after the class is already over. Poor communication doesn't respond to emails. SOOOOOOO much reading in class. It's two hours of textbook readings. Office hours help but good luck.

This class is so anxiety inducing. She will grill you until you say the answer SHE wants and not what you actually think. One time we had an informational paper, and then we presented it, and she sat and fought me on MY opinion. If you want to live longer, don't take this class because you will be so stressed.
