She's really dramatic. I found it intriguing that she drinks from a plastic water bottle using a straw. But that's beside the point. Her tests are pretty easy, just make sure you know how to write.
SHE SUCKS! I COULD'T UNDERSTAND WHAT SHE WAS SAYING WHEN GIVING THE LECTURE...SHE DOESNT MAKE SENCE, SHE EXPECTS YOU TO KNOW ALL ABOUT POLITICS AND THINK SHE DOESNT NEED TO TEACH YOU WHAT SHE THINKS YOU SHOULD ALREADY KNOW...DONT TAKE HER!!!!
Her lectures are really boring, but you must attend. Must read all the chapters. She expects you to know a lot. If you go to lectures, pay attention and read all assigned chapters, then it should be easy. but how easy is that.
It's all lecture and reading, wait, I should say skimming through the reading material. Her tests are easy and if you concentrate on the study guide you will do just fine.
What a ****!
She is totally funny and way nice! All of the reading does kinda suck...but her lectures are interesting and pretty much parallel what the books have to say. As far as what one of the other people posted. If you don't know anything about politics, then don't take an upper-division politics class.
class is easy, just need to go to lecture or read the book, they are basically the same
This was such a good class! The reading was interesting and challenging. The lectures were always well prepared & insightful. Lectures would concentrate on the areas of the reading assignment where it was hard to grasp. She was always willing to help students! Very approachable.
excellent professor. made a boring subject engaging and fun.
She is great. Spunky, youthful, and fun. She made a three hour class wiz by and now I know so much more about propaganda and World War II. One of the coolest things about her is that she teaches unbiasedly (something rare in PolySci). You can't tell is she is way left or way right. Take her class.
She is probably the only person worth taking a POSC class from. She teaches only what is important but even better, she teaches unbiasedly. She has a lot of energy and really identifies with her students. Her GAs are blah but she is great as a teacher and a mentor even if you arent majoring in posc.
Really good class. The information is interesting and she is really funny. The tests aren't too difficult as long as you study the chapters.
Sounds like a dictator. Tries to be funny & has a really manly voice. The lectures are not boring at all, unless you don't care about politics. Make sure you always read, & do the study guides before the exams. You have to know how to write! You don't really have to go the review sessions.
Love Cora! Go to lecture and study the review sheet. She definetly keeps you up with her very animated lectures (you'll see what I'm talking about).
very boring lectures. but i attended every lecture anyways, and never had to open up the textbook!!! and got a "B" for the course. her exams were 3-parted: multiple choice, identification (short answers), and long answers.
lectures were interesting, mainly because of her persona...must read the chapters...study guides are clear and concise...shes kind of weird, but it keeps you awake
very interesting class. she's very into her material. she has an odd sense of humor. sometimes work for her, sometimes doesn't. go to class and read the book and you can ace the tests. not a skate-through class but not something you're going to be pulling your hair out over.
hate talking about government...but she made it very interesting an shes super funny but weird...definitely an easy class
Kinda boreing lecture. She has a raspy voice and just talks the whole class. But the tests are easy. go to the review sessions and you'll get an A
Fantastic.
Ok class but pretty boring. The only way you will do good is by going to the review sessions. There are at pretty inconvienient times but worth the effort.
She was helpful in the fact that she had T.A.s The subject matter was very interesting. The reading was more important than the lectures.
She was an ok teacher. She spoke in a funny sounding tone. The class wasn't to hard. All you really have to do is attend some of her lectures and really study the study guide she gives out and your sure to get at a B or A grade in the course. She also offers extra credit too.
She is a really great teacher, she gives no homework. All you need to do to get a good grade is attend the study sessions and take notes.
Very interesting subject and clear lectures, crucial to essay exams (Attend class!). Fair grader. Again, attend class!
Great class you will learn alot 1midterm for each book. Which means 2 midterms and 1 final, final also based on the third book.
is an interesting person, she is really nice and enjoys politics a little too much. although I thought at times class got boring, you need to attend class to get good notes and do well on the tests. Her aides seemed to grade for her, but it was very fair grading and she was always there to help you. I'd recommend her, but not the best prof. ever...
AMAZING INSTRUCTOR. presented all material in a clear format without downplaying the material's significance.
I went into this class with a bad attitude because I didn't want to have to take it but I came out pretty interested in political science. I never read the book but I attended most all of her lectures and took pretty decent class notes. She posted study guides online which are very helpful if you do them.
amazing.
She really makes Poly Sci interesting! I never really liked Politics, but after taking this course with her it sort of changed my views on politics. She is really great professor. All you have to do is take 4 exams and she makes herself available so you can ask for help! Take her!
totally interesting stuff
She is truly an amazing professor! I actually end up liking polotics afterwards!! She is energetic and into what she talks about!! 4 exams that consist of mc and essay questions! Great Professor!
Her accent/voice is annoying as hell and will get on your nerves over time. She is so focused on herself and her ideas she presents only her views. Thinks shes funny and cool but shes not. Tests are hard. Lectures are completely pointless wastes of time you will learn nothing form them. Only has 4 tests so if you do bad on tests your SOL.
big lecture class, but very interactive with the students. tests are easy if you take notes and actually pay attention. essay question on test--but just write as much as you can about what you know about the topic and you'll do great. i really enjoyed this class. politics is actually interesting now!
loved this class
She is an amazing professor. She is really clear about what she wants. If you aren't taking the class to learn, don't take her. She expects that you know the material. She kind of talks funny and the way she drinks with a straw from her water bottle is annoying, but overall she is great. I learned a lot and have learned to enjoy Politics.
This was one of the best classes Ive taken. Really good in every way.
I DIDN'T LIKE THE CLASS BECAUSE IT WAS ALL BASED OFF OF HER LECTURING AND I CAN'T STAY UP IN A CLASS WHERE THE TEACHER ONLY TALKS THE WHOLE TIME...BUT I'M SURE IF YOU READ THE BOOK AND STUDY ALL THE MATERIAL SHE COVERED IN CLASS YOU SHOULD PASS
shes kind of crazy, and you have to go to class because on all the tests there are only 15 mult choice and 5 alway start with "in class i said..." and the rest are still somewhat based on the class but could be answered if you study the text book. but other than that it was an ok class.
This was the best class. It is a lecture format, but with student involvement. Extremely intelligent prof.
The class is a requirement, but she is an incredible person/professor. I just thought it was great.
very interesting teacher!! i recommend this prof.. she knows her thing! :)
nice and VERY intelligent.
She is a great teacher and very entertaining. I don't understand poli sci AT ALL but i understood it for a short while in her class. She is very clear about what she wants. Going to class is important, but not mandatory. I highly recommend you take her.
She's awesome. very passionate about politics. very easy class, take notes, and youll get an A on all her tests. there are only four tests, and thats it. good class...
Probably the best teacher I have had in college so far.
took this Spr07. not a hist/gov fan, but after, i wanted to learn how our system works. she's great, don't see Y some R bugged by how she talks or "annoyed" because she drinks water out a straw. she's very helpful & so R the grad assist. go to class, B on time & don't leave early! take notes because some questions on the test come from leture.gluk!
take her! she's really halpful & nice. she has a passion for what she teaches. 2 GAs also have office hours so there are 3 ppl to help u out. there is always a review session before each of the 4 exams including the final [which isn't cumulative] she assigns an extra credit assignment towards the end, take advatage of it, i wish i had!
Great course! Great professor, one of my favorite thus far. Definitely has a passion for Political Science. Very clear on what is on the tests. They're not too difficult if you read the book and go to lecture. Loved this class!
Now this is what a GE course is suppose to be like. You can just show up relax and take notes, study the study guide and get a good grade on the test. Her test is part multiple question(extremely easy) part short sentence(describe the definition and significance in detail) and an essay. Over all if you are looking for a GE class this is the one!
Great class, and great professor. You learn a lot and is very interesting stuff.
She's the best professor you will every take. She's fair in grading and funny. You will not regret it!
I loved her and this class. Great teacher, very helpful and enjoyable to listen to. She makes things interesting. I recommend!
3 tests. No homework. 1 extra credit. Tests are 15 multiple choice, 4 identification, and 1 essay question. You REALLY have to study because she doesn't cover everything in the lectures. I didn't seriously study and got a C.
This teacher was very interesting and I hate poly sci. Her voice is a bit weird though. 3 tests that are multiple choice and an essay. Really easy if you study and go to class. Barely need to read the book.
Fantastic class because the professor is just great. She makes the class!
This is the best class I am taking. Dr Goldstein is such a great teacher. She is REALLY smart. Its a huge class and she actually makes it interesting and fun.
cool professor. 2 in class essays derived mainly from the books. one take home essay. not too much reading. points for attendance. stick to the material when writing essays and you'll do fine.
Easy class. You are not required to attend however she does discuss material that is not in the book but on the tests. 4 tests including the final. Every test is the same, 4 ids, an essay, and multiple choice. to do well on the tests, study the key terms. I also suggest going to class. definite psycho on not speaking during the class.
The professor is excellent. I was really surprised by how much I learned. Highly recommend this class.
This professor is actually a doctor in her field of study. She is extremely passionate of her work and teaching. Her class is based off 4 exams. Each 100 points. She uses a microphone to lecture her class, and she will occasionally comment on the late/leave early students. You will walk away learning more than you expected takin gthis class.
this class was awesome! i never liked political science, but dr.goldstein made it fun and easy to understand. i never dreaded going to her lectures because it was always so interesting and informative. her tests are easy too (only 4 and the format is the same on each one). i highly recommend her! easy A as long as you attend class and take notes!
Professor Goldstein, is truly passionate about Political Science. Her lectures are dynamic and engaging if you participate. You must take good notes in the lecture, All 4 exams are the same format, and easy too, that's if you study of course! I highly recommend her! Also, super helpful during office hours.
Really good. Kept it interesting. If you don't go to the lectures as long as you read the tests aren't bad. They grade very fairly. Definitely recommend taking her.
Dr. Goldstein is the best polsc teacher. Her lectures are informative and entertaining. You can tell that she is very passionate about polsc. Buy the book, so you can have a reference. Theres 4 test and if you study they are not difficult. I recommend her for every student who needs to fulfill the political science requirement. She was amazing!
Coming from a chemistry major's point of view, i thought this upper level posc class was very interesting. I'm not very familiar with political science but i learned a lot from this class. didn't receive an A, but overall very good class
Stop trashing Dr. Goldstein--whoever you are. You sound like a bitter person who is just angry that they got a B. The class was fantastic.
Cora is the best teacher on campus.
It's a senior seminar so basically she gives us some points and then mediates the class discussion. But she gives very interesting lectures on occassion, is by far the most helpful professor I've had and is genuinely interested in the progress of all her students. Class was a bit difficult because I didn't always do the reading but I still did ok
TAKE HER FOR POLI SCI. She actually made the class extremely interesting by talking about current affairs; I now like political science. 4 tests, for which she gives study guides, and 1 optional extra credit assignment. Study big concepts and it will be easy.
A very nice lady. Clear and organized lectures. Makes polysci an interesting subject. Multiple choice on tests are not that hard at all, its the id's and essay you should study for. Aides hold study sessions and don't be late for class, it bugs her! Overall, great professor!
Professor Goldstein is a great teacher. Its a lecture class so it can get mundane but the way she presents the material keeps it interesting.Pretty laid back and kinda dry sense of humor just DONT BE LATE she'll oust you in front of the class. overall great teacher, she's helpful if you reach her as are her assistants
TAKE HER! presents information in a very interesting way. don't need book if you pay attention to lectures, but she tries to keep it entertaining. TA's hold helpful study sessions. doesn't use powerpoints--idk how she keeps us listening! great professor- on all tests, 1 mc section (20q) 3 ID questions 1 essay. easy peasy. Easy to get an A!
Excellent teacher. Makes Poli Sci fairly interesting and the tests are very straightforward. Fairly easy to get an A. If you screw up a test, you get an extra credit assignment that can replace a lot of your points. Just make sure to go over your textbook once or twice from time to time.
I hated POSC prior to taking this class but she makes it very interested and easy to understand! I enjoyed her lectures very much. Attendance is not mandatory. Study sessions before exams which I honestly never attended but still managed to get good grades on exams by just studying lecture notes and everything on her study guides! take her!
She's good. Read the book and take notes! Although attendance is not necessary, she does talk about some things that is not mentioned in the book. Test is easy and posts up review sheets
Best government class I have ever taken! Dr.Goldsten is fantastic. She is very clear about what you need to know. Very beneficial going to class. All exams are the same. 15 MC , 4 indentfications, and an essay. Write every word she says, do the reading before class, and it will be simple for you!
I have never taken political science before, and somehow she makes political science interesting during her lectures. Go to all her lectures, take notes, study hard, and do all the assigned readings to do well on the tests and benefit from the class in the end. I would recommend this class because I also learned about life too.
Loved her!She was very clear in her lectures and easy to understand. About 80% of material on exams come from lecture ALONE! Attend class to get the most of it.
Man it took forever to read all the chapters, but I learned so much! her tests are fair and if you read and attend class then you will do great (some test questions are from lecture only). Study study:) I got an A. Her lectures were so interesting, but I'm interested in polisci. Some people failed because they didn't attend her lectures..
Hands down one of the best professors I have ever taken. Her lectures are so interesting and you learn so much. I had little interest in politics before this class but with her it turns out I want to learn even more!Take her if you have the chance.
Really simply classes. All I did was attend lecture and take notes on subjects that she emphasized alot, then I would review this study guide I found online and I got A's on all the tests. Google up AP Gov struggle for democracy or struggle for democracy instructors manual. That should be more than enough for you to get an easy A.
Class was fair. Simply take good notes and read the textbook. Exams are fair. Overall, interesting teacher and lectures. Enjoyed the class!
Very good professor and very clear on what she wants in the class. Could have gotten an A if i did extra credit.
SHE TRULY GETS YOU INVOLVED IN THE CLASSROOM. SHE MAKES THE TOPIC INTERESTING AND LECTURES WITH GREAT CLARITY. SHE IS "REAL" AND THAT PERSONALLY MAKES HER A COOL PERSON TO TAKE AS A POSC PROFESSOR.
I am so very glad that this class is over, she is the absolute worst professor that I have ever had at CSULB. Im not lazy, and Im not upset that we had exams. I just felt like the monotone voice that she spoke in and the way she talked to her students made her class almost unbearable for me, and so hard to actually learn.
Loved this class. She is the best!
Although all the notes you take in class are verbal from what she says, it's actually not that bad. I don't really like polisci but Dr. Goldstein got me interested a little bit. She knows that majority of her students aren't polisci majors and are only taking this class as a GE so she mainly emphasizes the important issues and topics. TAKE HER!!!
My favorite class at csulb.
Dr. Goldstein is a great professor. She will answer any questions that you have, and she will not put you on the spot. The reason why i had difficulty in this class is because i knew very little about politics. Many students knew politics, and did extremely well in the class. Unfortunately the textbook is required.
Took a couple weeks to warm up to her, but I ended up really liking this class and her as a prof. She really cares about you learning the subject and she makes what can be a dull topic interesting. Fair grader, and while attendance isnt mandatory, she will test on things that are not in the book, so you should go to the lectures. 4 tests are all.
Dr. Goldstein is a great choice if you know nothing or have little interest in politics. Her lectures are simplified enough so you can comprehend the topics discussed in class. All exams are the same and reading the textbook makes a difference in your understanding of the course material but you should also plan to attend lecture regularly to pass.
she is a wonderful professor. engaging and clear. always challenging. loved the lectures.
She lectures, zero power points which may get boring to some, 4 exams consisting of MC, vocabs, and a essay. Offered one E.C. not sure if thats a regular thing but I advise anyone to take it whether or not they need to. I ended up having to take the class over because I was off 6 points from a C even after messaging her about it.
She is great. Recommend the class.
She is Crystal Clear about what she wants. The class is 4 exams; all look the same, (even the final). You have to answer Identifications, multiple choice, and write an essay each time. Read every chapter she assigns at least once and show up to every lecture to get an easy A.
Great lectures. The class is VERY good.
only grades given are tests . they are hard
The class is not easy, but it is very good. I am learning a lot.
Grading is clear. Have to read and attend class to past the test! Grade base on 4 exams only. No extra credit unless stated otherwise. Exam is easy if you attend class, take good notes, and read. Easy A there. 15 multiple choice, 4 ID's, and 1 essay question. Same format for every exam.
Class is 3 midterms, one final, and one extra credit ten point assignment. If you READ THE BOOK you will ace the exams. No tricks. Lectures are interesting, she is not monotone! She engages the class and provides a clear understanding to our government.
She is straight forward with what she expects from you. I am not a big polisci fan, but she explains her lessons well enough that I can actually understand what's going on. If you read the book and study her lectures you will do fine on exams, I aced all four by reviewing my book notes and her lectures! Not an easy A but I recommend her!
Great lectures.
She's a great professor! Her lecture are clear and easy to understand. You don't really need to read just skim through the books and you'll be fine. Only 4 test that consists of 15 mult. choice, 4 ID questions, and 1 essay question. if you show up to class you'll pass the tests.
Lectures are clear and engaging, most of the stuff that shows up on the exams are from lecture. Incorporates current events into exams at times, so pay attention in class when she brings up such events. Combination of skimming the book and taking good lecture notes guarantees a good grade.
Fairly easy class. No hw so not really time consuming. No PowerPoints. Tests are quite easy if you pay attention & study the day before. Hardly read chapters; however I wrote down everything she said. Lectures can feel long if you don't try to listen or take notes. Go to class, take notes, review notes, complete the study guide & you'll pass!
She made politics really interesting, amazing at lectures, test essay questions are difficult
She is super passionate about what she teaches, which made lectures interesting. She is sweet and funny, I highly recommend her class. Only 4 exams including the final. Write everything she says during lecture and read the chapters and you'll be fine. She keeps it simple. Take her!
My college experience would not have been complete without taking senior sem with Dr. Goldstein. She is brilliant and articulate, and so kind! You really need to read in order to participate in class discussions, which she grades pretty tough on. Two in-class essay exams and a final project. One of the best polisci professors at CSULB, hands down.
Her lectures are really interesting and engaging. Be sure to come to class since most of the stuff that show up on the exam are from lecture. The tests are straightforward and clear. 15 MC, 4 ID's and and 1 essay question. Review the notes from lecture and pay attention in class and it should be an easy A.
She's so knowledgable, respected, and thorough. I was never confused after her lecture. I wish she taught more classes, I would take everything with her. She makes you want to come to class and want to put effort into her assignments. Make sure you do the reading and participate in class. I really recommend this course with Goldstein.
she is a great professor! understands that not everyone is interested in politics, but teaches you the basics so you have a better understanding of the world and less biased view points. i think this class is important for everyone. tests are relatively easy and she provides a lot of support with review sessions and study guides. Would recommend!
Goldstein will put you on the spot!!! Be aware! No texting during her class. Can't show up late or leave early. Lectures are amazing! Always kept me engaged for some odd reason, I don't even like politics and it was my favorite class. Dont skip class, things she covers in class are not on the book and are on exams.
She is amzing and you can tell she has a passion for teaching this subject! she makes class interesting and lectures with out powerpoints. Just show uop to class everyday and take solid notes and exams are clear and direct, no trick questions. Your grade is based on 4 exams; 15 MC, 4 ID(term deffinitions), and an essay. Loved this class! 10/10
She is pretty awesome. No powerpoints just lectures to you. Take notes, the tests are based on the reading and her lectures. There are 4 exams including the final, the class is based on the exams. 400 points, 100 each exam and one extra credit assignment. Loved her class, would take any class with her. Follow the news to participate in class.
Gets to the point and is quite passionate about what she is teaching. Dont ask dumb questions or she will roast you in front of the whole class. Also she will roast you if you walk in late DONT DO IT. Overall not too difficult of a course.
She makes lectures so interesting! I highly suggest to come to class everytime! Grades is based off from points system and tests (4 exams total including the final). As for exams, the final is just like the other exams, so there is nothing new. The grading criteria for the exams is clear: 15 multiple choice, terms, and essay. It is pretty easy!
Attendance is not mandatory but if you do not go you will most likely not pass. Electronics are not allowed unless you sit upfront. No powerpoints, you are responsible to write down whatever she says. Don't be overwhelmed by the exams, they are fine as long as you study. Reading the textbook helps a lot when writing the essay/IDs. 1 EC opportunity.
Horrible teacher, please take someone else. Gets very annoyed with students when they walk in late or leave early.
Amazing professor! Lectures are highly interesting. You don't need the textbook, just write down everything she says and then study and understand your notes before the exam. The class is fair and her exam questions fall in line with what we discuss in class. Attendance isn't mandatory but you'll regret missing class when you're taking the test.
Pretty easy class. 3 midterms and 1 final. Exams are 15 MC Q's, 4 ID's and 1 exam question. Study guides are always posted a week before exams which is really helpful. She doesn't use powerpoint for her lectures which really helps you listen and write down everything she says. As long as you study before exams, you will pass.
Shes a good teacher but if your not a visual learner go for it other then that she talks really fast over talks what your trying to write exams are hard she uses a projector and only writes one word and your supposed to keep up and take notes super hard she gives 1 extra credit assignment which is an essay 6 pages and it has to relate to poli sci
The only grades for this class are three midterms and a final. You can tell she REALLY knows what she's talking about and she cracks jokes. She may seem intimidating but she is very understanding. She doesn't have powerpoints but listening to her lectures gives you a whole new insight, you don't even need to read the book. 10/10 would recommend.
Amazing professor and amazing lectures. No powerpoints, mostly just her talking and you taking notes. Sounds scary, but it actually helps you pay attention. She knows what she's talking about and is so interesting. Review sessions are given. Go to class and take good notes, and you'll have no problem with tests. They're exactly like her lectures.
Show up to class, take good notes, and you won't need the textbook. Study your notes and the keywords she gives you and you'll be fine. She makes class fun and interesting and there's no attendance or homework so really you could probably just read the textbook and show up on test days and pass the class. Easy and fun, 10/10:)
Class isn't mandatory, but if you go her lectures are really good and you probably won't need to read the book. She doesn't use slides during lectures which helped me pay more attention (and they're interesting anyway).
Dr. Goldstein's class was really interesting. She is caring and very knowledgeable about democratization. It's a seminar class so expect to participate. She grades a bit tough on your discussion because she looks at the quantity and quality. Do the reading because she has high expectations for participation and its not a lot. Overall, fun class.
Your entire grade depends on 4 tests, which sucks. She's amazing at lecturing and teaching the material, but it's terrifying having your grade depend on only the tests. The tests are about 20 mc, 4 vocab writing sections, and an essay. Attendance is not mandatory but you probably won't pass otherwise bc she doesn't upload any of her material online
She's very friendly, intelligent and helpful. She knows and teaches the course well. She doesn't lecture with PowerPoints, however, her classes are interesting, informative, interactive and engaging. Exams are quite straightforward. Pay attention in class, take notes, be engaged and everything will be fine. One of my favourite lecturers.
She's a great professor and is very knowledgeable. However, my grade depended on four exams and one extra credit assignment, which was a quite stressful class. Her exams depends on her lectures, so make sure you attend those and take GOOD notes. She will not upload lectures or material online.
her lectures are recorded and they are max 10 min long. You can probably watch all the ones you need an hour before the exam and pass the exam with an A. I put all her videos in X2 because she talks really slow but she is really thorough and passionate. Her TA is super cool! he does Q&A before the exam and is super sweet. You will pass this class!!
Amazing prof! There are only 4 exams and your grade depends on them, but they're straightforward and if you listen to the lectures and take notes, you dont need to do any additional studying but review your notes. I probably spent 1/1.5 hours on the class a week. she's very knowledgeable and makes clear and interesting lectures if you like history
Asynchronous, no HW, only 4 exams throughout the semester, but honestly they are pretty easy as long as you took notes during her lectures. Lectures were clear and concise (Only lasted about 30min - 1 hour for the whole week). She genuinely seemed passionate about the content she was teaching which made her lectures even more interesting take her !
Although the class was asynchronous, Dr. Goldstein's lectures were short, simple and to add, VERY INTERESTING. We are only graded on four exams so watch the lectures. The lectures are very short, I spent an hour on this class per week. If you are looking for a simple straight to the point political science class, I recommend this one!
This is an asynchronous class, your grade is based on only 4 exams (mostly mc, 2 response questions). Her lectures are informative and interesting, don't last too long with speed added, take notes for exam purposes. She is very nice as well as the TA, I ultimately recommend taking her!
BEST COURSE/PROF EVER! Grades 4 exams, asynchronous course, and your note-taking skills will determine your exam grades SO TAKE LOTS OF NOTES on the lectures. Spent no more than 1 hr per course day. WATCH HER LECTURES BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT ONLY INFORMATIVE BUT THEY'RE REALLY INTERESTING! Few tips: use discord/gc and talk with her TA for exam reviews!
This class is asynchronous and her lectures are super interesting. 3 midterms and 1 final, no homework. Lecture vids are super short like 5-13 minutes. Most of the test questions come from her lectures so pay attention to every detail and take good notes!! Good notes are the key to doing good in this class. Also, she offers extra credit!!
Super easy class. Only based on 4 exams (multiple choice/short answer) throughout the semester. Class is async. She posts recorded lectures but you don't need to watch them all to pass. Textbook isn't needed to pass so save your money. Optional discussions on beachboard. Held exam reviews on zoom. Easy to forget about this class and due dates.
As someone who finds politics extremely boring, I actually enjoyed her lectures!! They're very straight forward and easy to understand. They were all pre-recorded so you can speed them up to go by faster. She grades a bit slow, and it is a lot of reading. Overall a pretty easy class though I'd recommend!
I enjoyed the class, it opened my eyes to current issues and deepened my understanding of history/propaganda. Is understanding, open to various POVs, and knowledgeable about the material. Participation is huge. the material: a small book (6 chapters). 2 Exams on the book/ Final Pres/Final paper. Straight-forward and relatable! I recommend her!
Goldstein is a good professor and is good at explaining the information. However, your grade is dependent on literally only 4 exams so you need to really pay attention in class and do well on the tests. You don't really need the textbook, even though it's recommended, bc she covers almost everything in her lectures.
The professor is super sweet! This class is entirely lecture but she doesn't use powerpoint though so that can be a downside to some people. We're graded on 4 exams only (1 ExtraCredit) and there's no homework! Everything we learn in lecture will be on exams so as long as you pay attention to the prof and take notes, you should do great.
100% of your grade is dependent on just 4 exams. That means you have to attend lectures and study the content beforehand. This professor is very passionate and knows a lot about Political Science. This subject doesn't interest me, but she has done a very good job at keeping me engaged in the lectures. The topics she covers are really interesting.
Doesn't present slides with lecture, only lectures. The tests are heavily based off of lectures and there's no homework. The whole course is graded off of 4 exams with one extra credit opportunity. This professor clearly knows what she's talking about, the class just wasn't for me.
Professor Goldstein was a super nice professor and was very accommodating to students throughout the course. There were no assignments but four tests throughout the semester, which were the only things that went towards your grade so def make sure to pay attention and take good notes. Her tests weren't difficult if you paid attention in lectures
Dr. Goldstein is so nice and understanding and always takes time to care for her students. However, if you are one that is known to miss class a lot, don't take this course. Lecture slides are not posted and everything you need to know is during her lectures and book. Don't worry though, she is such a good lecturer and one of my favorite classes.
Grade is solely determined by exams... the unspoken hw assignments are textbook readings and optional extra credits. Reasonable professor :D
Class consists of 4 exams (25% each) and 2 extra credit exams. Content on the test is covered in lectures and she verbally lectures. There are no slides or photos so you really have to pay attention to get the notes. The class is exam heavy so you need to do good on each exam or you won't pass.
SO EASY. I only went to 2 lectures (the first 2) and never read the textbook. If u have a VERY BASIC understanding of politics and California politics (last unit) then u will pass the class. I only did meh on the last exam cuz I think the essay had to do w/ the readings. If I didn't do the extra credit, I wouldn't have gotten an A, so PLS DO THEM!
4 exams, each worth 25%, made up your entire grade. Class wasn't difficult at all. I stopped attending lectures half way through and just read my textbook and used quizlet. There are some examples she gives in class that you need, such as voting stats or specific cases. If you have a friend that will share notes, don't even bother attending lecture
grade is based on 4 exams. prof goes over everything in the most basic detail and at an easy to understand pace. you have to go to lecture, she posts no notes/ppts and her lectures differ from the book. to do well on exams, literally just review notes from class for a few hours and you will do well! I review for 3 hours and have a 96 test average
She's very passionate about political science! No power points, just listening to her lecture. No assignments just 3 exams (multiple choice & short essay questions) and 2 papers for extra credit. Some of the questions on exams are based on lecture so I really recommend going to class bc that's all you can rely on besides reading.
I loved this class! Most of the class required coming ready to talk about historical events and having a discussion. She lets you express yourself and the class feels like a safe place to talk about the faults that the American government has had. The topic for the final project is up to you and you get to research the topic of your choice
Best prof to take to get the GE done. Graded on 4 exams and that's it. One extra credit opportunity too. You do have to go to class bc her tests are based on what she says in lecture. I never touched my textbook so don't buy it. Only thing is that she doesn't have a presentation or visual aid when she lectures but it's not bad. TAKE HER!
Professor Goldstein is honestly one of the most chill professors I've had. She can be funny and likes when you participate and answer her questions. Lectures are important so attend those, as everything on the exam is based on lectures.
Honestly, I was intimidated by the thought of having to take a political science class especially since my grade was based on 4 exams. These are literally light work. If you attend lectures, then it's exactly what you get on the exam. Her lectures are interesting and straight forward, I would defff recommend her. Easiest class ever.
Engaging lectures without slides, but you'll need to attend regularly and take good notes to ace the exams. The textbook is helpful, but unstuck ai was a lifesaver for test prep. Overall, an informative and manageable GE class.
She is such an amazing professor! She does not use any visuals and talks during the whole lecture but she makes it super easy to understand and take notes on what is really important! You are graded ONLY off of 4 exams and let me tell you they are super easy! The material is super easy to understand, take/study your notes and you are good!
She is so engaging and made me want to major in political science, something I had never considered. She is a great teacher, I wish I could have her as a professor longer.
I loved Professor Goldstein! Four exams determine your grade, however, you are given a review sheet and review session with the TAs a couple of days before each exam. Super easy exams. A textbook was provided, but I never read it because her lectures were exactly what was on the test. Professor Goldstein taught me so much, take her!
AMAZING professor! The lectures were so interesting and I really did learn so much about politics. No slides, so attendance is kind of mandatory but she doesn't take attendance. Honestly you won't regret taking her class. Just go to class, take good notes of what she says, and join the class discord to help study together. Easy A
I was never strong in politics, but coming out of her class I feel much more confident in how it functions. She always remained politically neutral and just taught what needed to be taught without being biased, but you could discuss anything with her after class was over. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but I reccomend going if you don't read the book
Easiest class ever. As long as you pay attention in class and listen to her talk, you will pass. WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING! Write everything that she says, and especially what she emphasizes. She is caring and sweet. Would take this class again. I hate politics & history, and she made politics and history interesting. Green book (essay Q&A) + MC exams
Honestly a very easy class. Tests are 15 multiple choice questions with 2 essay questions. 4 of them for the semester each worth 25% of your grade. Tests were so easy that you felt like you overstudied for them. One extra credit assignment which was easy as well. No attendance required and the class is chill.
very easy prof. makes good use of lecture time. offers extra credit. exams are based on lectures; reading the textbook isn't super vital other than just understanding the material better. show up for lecture and exams, do the reading when things aren't clear and it should be an easy A
She is an amazing professor! Your grade is only consisted of exams and she gives out one extra credit opportunity. The exams are mainly based on lectures and some reading from the textbook. She is very well-spoken and although she doesn't have slides, she speaks at a good pace. Show up to class, take notes, and get that A!
There are no slides during lecture. She just yaps and you listen and take notes. If you take notes and study a day before the test you'll do fine. NO homework, only grades the 4 tests that we have. 15 multiple choice and 2 "essay" questions that she grades SOOOOOOO easy.
Really like this class. She doesn't have slides so you have to write down everything she says in the lecture. She has study guides which are very helpful! Grade is based on only 4 exams and one extra credit opportunity. Overall recommend her if you don't care about exams making or breaking your grade
ez class 4 tests no assignments 1 extra credit essay. light work take her
easy class, attendance isn't mandatory, and there are 4 tests all of them are around 20 mc questions and 2-3 essay questions, and there's one extra credit essay. Do the study guide the night before and you will easily pass.
She is the best professor I have had here. Grade is full based on exams but she prepares you more than enough for them so that you can succeed. Showing up matters because lectures only go on in person but if you take thorough notes and participate you will pass! LOVE HER!
2 exams (essays) no mcq, 1 essay, no homework, participation matters. Nobody gets 100 she grades hard but nicer on the final. She grades easy on participation though. Take notes during her lectures and read the textbook if you're confused about things and you'll be okay. Grades very tough for a GE class, overheard others complain too
The class is very test-based, with four tests all graded the same (basically no midterms or finals that are graded more heavily). Textbook is required and will be the main way to study for all tests. Tbh an easy class if you read the required textbook chapters because there's no other homework. She's very nice and understanding!
