Clear and fun lectures. Pretty easy exams. Nice guy.

I hated P2 lab, but Covault was usually available outside of lab and was very good at explaining things that I didn't understand.

Very good teacher in terms of course design and explanation of physical principles. During lecture, hesitates quite a bit; he is earning CWRU about $5 for every "uhh..uhm...".

Mr. Covault is very entertaining and clear. He's really cool.

Incredible Teacher Gives lots of review sheets, and Tests come almost straight from Test review. Really funny. Be Sure to read the book for the seocd half, cuz he won''t explain anything then.

Dr. Covault was very clear, explained concepts well, and was interesting and funny. One of my favorites.

One of the best professors I've had. A really funny guy who puts forth the largest effort I've seen for helping his students. Lots of study notes and lecture stuff. He is, as the kids say, "the man".

Corbin was one of the best teachers I have had. He interacts with his students and helps them in any way possible. I know of no fairer teacher than him.

This guy made me a physics major. 'Nuff said.

Mr. Covault is an excellent professor. He made commendable efforts to help his students in any way possible, going as far as to have class surveys asking numerous questions geared towards improving his teaching. A very amiable guy, he likes to crack jokes, though they are often corny. He typically explained the material quite clearly. Excellent.

Amazing Professor! Connects well with students, explains concepts simply and clearly, and is very straightforward about what he wants on exams. Goes out of his way to help you do well if you want the help. Takes a potentially confusing subject, and makes it easy and fun. Good demonstrations during class, and the guy plays a mean banjo!

Lecture is interesting if you know what he is talking about. He is usually very easy to understand but sometimes he uses math you might not have seen yet. Overall my favorite professor so far. If at all possible take PHYS 121 and 122 from him.

Covault can definitely give a lecture. They're very very helpful. As far as going into detail, it's a little tough. His expectations for the homework and exams are insane, but the class is curved, so he makes it easy on us.

this was a very difficult class -- note that this comes from someone who intends to major in physics. interesting lectures, homework takes many hours (10 questions on average, one set a week), tests only have 3 questions but multiple steps and will make you work up to the last minute.

I had a great time in this class. I learned a lot and loved the way the teacher was excited about the material. The homework takes a lot of time, but is straight forward if you take the time to do it. The tests are fairly straightforward as well...you don't really need to study, just make your crib sheet and understand the basic concepts.

Fantastic teacher, has the ability to be able to present complicated material in a very simple way. Also very helpful if you come to him with questions during office hours. He legitimately cares for all of his students, on many occasions inconveniencing himself in order to make things come through for us.

great professor who really knows the material. Makes a few mistakes here and there, but that's understandable. Very animated and excited about teaching. 3 cycle approach is great. East B for sure, but work a bit for the A. Buying the textbook is a waste, just go to class or watch mediavision to get the notes...he has a set of notes online too.

Corbin Covault is one of my favorite professors. He is very funny (in a weird way) and always wiling to help if you have questions. He really knows what he is talking about. I highly recommend him. But beware; his classes are not for the faint of heart. They are difficult, time consuming, but rewarding. I give him a high recommendation.

Corbin is the best teacher I have expirenced so far at Case. He is very passionate about the material and really wants to help the students understand physics. He gives a lot of extra material and practice problems, review sheets, and other helpful documents. He is funny in class and is very laid back. Take his class!

He's probably the smartest person I've ever met. Great guy, very interesting class. Recommended highly. My only complaint is how fast he talks, you get used to it though.

Excellent professor, I highly recommend him over any other physics professor. Can get himself confused sometimes, but corrects himself and its enjoyable to watch him in the process. Overall funny, great professor that provides plenty of material for study and hints for the homework. Take his class!

Took Covault's PHYS 123 class and loved it. Hardest class I've ever taken, but I got so much out of it. I dropped P124 to P122 so I could have him again as a prof. He knows his physics, and is always there if you have trouble

I came in as a physics major. This class really killed my confidence. He teaches in "cycles" so you see a topic multiple times. The tests have 3 questions on them. The tests are very hard, but he curves, so a 60% could be an A. The homework is very hard and frustrating. There are 12 HW assignments and he drops your lowest 2 grades. WILL help you in

Lots of fun, very enthusiastic. Can get lost sometimes during his examples, or make little goofs when writing on the board,but brilliant overall. Expects students to know what's going on, but respects them. Curves the tests, which is definitely needed. Would definitely recommend.

His enthusiasm and generally excellent presentations made the class a pleasure to attend. Homework and exam problems will likely stretch your knowledge. Overall highly recommended.

He is fantastic. While one of the hardest professors I have ever had (and long, tedious homework assignments), his lectures make physics fun. An engaging man, you never know what he will do next! Sometimes a bit hard to understand, but you'll get used to it by day three. Take his classes.

One of the best teachers at CWRU. Don't take PHYS 121 unless you have him because he makes everything so much more exciting that you'd think. He has his quirks, but they make the class all the better. He's also downright brilliant, but don't be afraid to go to his office hours as they're really helpful.

He is a bit quirky, and has a tendency to studder. Go to class, as his studdering is even more noticeable when watching mediavision. He explains all the formulas well, and gives you everything you need to do know. No trick questions, just hard ones.

Corbin is awesome. He puts physics into a perspective that is both clear and relevant. He is absolutely brilliant, and going to office hours really, really helps. Don't be insulted if he points out a solution in 2 seconds that you couldn't find in 2 hours.

Covault is the best intro level professor by far. If you can take PHYS 121 with him, do it. His lectures are EXTREMELY helpful and he is great at explaining difficult topics. He is also a very quirky guy and tries to make lectures fun. The tests are difficult, but there is a large curve, so getting a good grade is possible if you try.

Took his 121 and wanted to have him as a prof for 124. Great decisionâ??excellent and insightful course. He dabbled into Feynman's lectures which was a bit over our heads, but was very interesting. His practice problems are great and he is helpful with the homeworks. Everyone in the class usually gets an A or a B. Highly recommended.

Covault is by far the best Physics prof at Case. 124 was hard, though it was by design.

It's all about the concepts, which Covault explains very well. And the cyclical learning is great. Don't get discouraged by seemingly low grades, because its all curved and normalized at the end. The best intro Physics professor at Case.

E&M is a difficult class, but Covault is probably the best professor at Case for it. He gives you all the information you need to succeed and tells you exactly what he will test you on. However, his tests are still very difficult. The lab is AWFUL and really comes down to how lazy your TA is about grading.

PHYS 121 and 122 will be difficult no matter who you take it with but if you have the option, definitely take them with Covault. Very strange guy but also very passionate about his subject, excellent at teaching, and willing to help his students. Don't hesitate to go to his office hours.

Physics is tough but Covault makes it fun. He stutters a lot but does't affect the lecture and is kind of funny. Definitely go to the SI sessions, I had no knowledge of physics coming in and the SI sessions really helped. The tests are meant to trick you so it will be hard but there is a lot of partial credit so don't fret. I recommend him.

Be prepared to unlearn and relearn physics. Covault is an excellent teacher, though sometimes a difficult grader. All homework and tests are problems worked symbolically. As long as you attend class, do the homework, and use your resources (The SI sessions are excellent, as are the professors), the class is manageable. Highly recommend it.

Took him for phys 121 and 122 and got A's in both classes. Believe me, he is all about the concepts. If you get the concepts, the problems are extremely straightforward and easy. If not, you will still get a B provided that you do the labs. Have never met anyone with less than a B in either class. Just make sure you get the concepts if you want anA

Very challenging class, but if you pay attention to covault, attend si sessions, and just make sure you understand the concepts an "A" is definitely attainable. Tests were very hard, but curve at the end helped a lot. A "B" is very easy to get as long as you put some effort in (do the homework and lab).

Covault is the man. He knows Physics inside and out and he really wants to get his students to understand it like that too. Fun in lecture and very animated, makes learning the material easier. However, very hard tests and homework, but there was a substantial curve (80 is an A, 55 is a B, 35 is a C) but I still feel like I learned a lot from him.

He often rambles in class about conceptual stuff but he knows how to solve problems. He is willing to help students outside of class and I learned basically everything from him in office hours instead of lectures. Tests are hard but he curved the grade.

He always eat the chalk on the first day of class. Overall, he's a pretty good professor, sometimes he's too enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and ends up finding it hard to explain the topic in easier words. Thank god for the curve. 87 and an A.

He always eats the chalk on the first day just to scare the freshman, but he's really a great professor. A bit wacky but really friendly and easy to approach. If you aren't too familiar on physics, you might get lost in the lecture because he tends to go fast and sometimes off on a tangent because he gets excited. Otherwise, pray that you get him!

SI sessions really saved my ass. Mostly for the homework. There's homework every week unless you took a test. He explains the concepts well but always takes it up a notch for the homework. His tests are pretty challenging but at least he allows a crypt sheet.

He certainly knows what he's doing - he's not necessarily a great speaker, and tends to stutter, but overall teaches what needs to be taught. The homework is often difficult, but going to the SI sessions will help a lot - they walk you through it. Tests are similarly hard, but there's a curve, so it's not terrible. Also quite a character.

Covault's lectures are always interesting, he has demonstrations almost every day and they're always relevant and help you understand physics concepts. His tests are hard and you will most likely run out of time, but he is VERY clear on what will be on the test and gives many practice problems and curves are generous, 60 is a B for most tests

Crazy, but good

Covault is a wacky, eccenteric professor who really does know what he is talking about. Exams are difficult, but his curves are generous. He offers tons of out-of-class support to help you do better so there is no excuse for why a student cant achieve the grade they want in the course. Very well respected professor at Case, and for good reason.

Professor Covault is a spirited and effective teacher. He delivers lectures both conceptually and with examples. He tries to keep you involved with the class giving demonstrations and having you work with neighbors. Overall a good professor and very helpful if you visit during office hours.

Covault is a great professor, I just do not like his grading breakdown. I received As on everything - lab, homework semester exams - and put in a huge amount of time. I have a very bad final exam schedule with my 3 hardest finals within 3 days and get a B on the final and thus a B in the class. Frustrating because I put so much work into the course

He wrote online notes about basic concepts himself and put the homework and exams solutions on time on the physics website.

The best teacher I have ever had in any subject, period. He is extremely organized, deliberate, and helpful. He assigns a lot of homework but the workload is always fair and really prepares you for the exams. His lectures are crystal clear and informative, and sometimes downright fun. Take his class! Case Western is so lucky to have him.

The thing that got to me was all the different deadlines for homework. Hard to keep track of.

Great professor. Cares a lot about students' grades and puts a ton of time into creating resources for students. The lectures are entertaining and for the most part can be followed easily. The only bad thing is that he gives a TON of homework. Do it and you'll get a good grade though.

I really liked Covault. I had him for Mechanics and currently for E&M, and am thankful for it. Lectures don't seem to be critical to learning, as he just does problems on the board, but I like that style of learning. Homeworks are long - go to the SI sessions!! My SIs (Ian and Jack) were probably the biggest reason that I got an A in the course.

His style and class structure can take some getting used to, but once you do he is a great professor. His lectures are more entertaining than most because of his eccentric nature. He gives quite a bit of homework and the exams are challenging, but he gives a fairly generous curve. A B was never more than a 60%.

Dr. Covault is extremely passionate and knowledgeable about the course content. He has high expectations of the students' quality of work, but is very reasonable in grading.

Dr. Covault is a great professor, and I think he does a fantastic job of helping first year students transition into college. His homework and exams can be difficult, but he grades very fairly and makes himself available to students for questions. He really makes you understand the material. Great teacher. Really wants the best for his students.

Covault can be a bit strange at times (every lecture), but he's a great professor. Pay attention to the lectures/homework and the tests will be easy; he reuses a lot of material. You might find it a bit difficult at first if you haven't done any physics before because he can go a bit fast. Spoilers, he does a lecture backwards for 122.

Very homework heavy class but you get points for doing the homework which helps in the long run. It's really easy to get a B in this class but you have to work a lot more for the A. Pay attention to his lectures, take good notes, and always look over the practice problems and exams he posts because he uses similar problems on the tests.

There is always homework for me to work on. However, Mr. Covault can offer us a pretty good explanation of every single concept and he tried to make all of us interested in Physics. He is really an excellent teacher. He could be more satisfying if the homework and tests are easier.

Lots of knowledge which means its hard for you to remember and use them during the exam even though you can bring a sheet with you

He's the best teacher in my life by now. His lectures contain a lot of stuff, but he can explain them very clearly. All you need to do is to put full effort on his materials. However, his homework and tests are all hard, doing them will not be a that pleasant experience, but his office hours are valuable, so utilize them. Work hard, an easy A.

He's an entertaining and interesting guy, and I really enjoyed his lectures. However, he assigns a lot of homework, and it's not really worth much. His tests are pretty hard even if you have your cheat sheets. The final exam crushed my dream of getting an A in the class :(

His class is challenging, but the grading is clear with a generous curve. Obtaining at least a B is very feasible if you understand the homework/lectures. Lots of homework, so be prepared to spend 8-12 hours a week outside of lecture on this course. Corbin's lectures are funny and unique, however. Interesting and respected guy! Labs are annoying.

The best teacher of freshman year. Not easy though. The final is heavily weighted so you better do well. However, there is extra credit available if you show up on certain days. The labs aren't fun, but they help your grade.

A pretty decent professor for a big lecture class. Highly recommend doing the practice problems of the day leading up to an exam, sometimes he reuses them. And on the cheat sheet just put how to do example problems, then you can figure out how to work through different ones on the test.

Quirky? Yes. Caring? Yes. Covault is a great guy who tries his best and is one of the better lecturers in the physics department. It's a hard class (with a huge curve) which is pretty much par for the course in the physics department. Gives a lot of homework that's not worth much. He's funny and overall a solid choice for general physics.

Great prof, super hard class! Curve makes up for it though (he says 25% of the class get As, 50% get Bs, 25% get below Bs)

Is there a more passionate, inspirational and respected professor? Maybe not. His lectures are amazing and his passion for the subject is infectious. But beware, the course is hard and if you zone out even for a minute, you can lose his train of thought. The steps to an A are to pay attention every class, do all the homework and extra questions.

Took P122 in fall2018. At first, I was unsure about him, as he was very quirky. However, he really grew on me as the semester progressed. He's a funny guy, and you'll be rewarded with a fundamental understanding of Classical Electromagnetism. Really great guy and prof, recommend to anyone

Professor Covault is the best physics professor I have ever met in my life. I am extremely ungifted in physics and I did not choose to take physics in High school. With literally no physics background, I was able to understand the lecture in class. The lectures were so clearly demonstrated. Professor Covault was very accessible outside classroom.

Okay so his class isn't hard if you make the cheat sheet literally exam problems. Other than that I would say just learn the 4 maxwell equations and you are good. Use the SI's but really just go to class. In my opinion he does not like giving out the answer if you have a question, which sometimes makes him unapproachable, but its for your benefit.

Covault's class is a really good one. If you show up and are engaged during lectures you will understand the material well. Homeworks get progressively longer for the first 2/3 of the class then get shorter again. They can be pretty tedious to do, but if you attend the SI sessions you can pretty much get all the answers.

Covault is a teacher who genuinely cares about his students. He's a pretty quirky, nice guy and is willing to help. His tests were very hard but I also suck at physics. The curve was more than generous. The homework was hard and was due weekly. I recommend going to SI sessions they are helpful. Do not drop this class you're grade will be fine.

SIngle handedly msot likely the greatest teacher I have ever met. He knows his stuff like I know my name and his elctures are not only magical, but just downright fun. As a physics major I am lucky to have him to start off my career with!

Prof Covault is the best. Wish I had him again. He was so accommodating when personal issues came up. Lectures were all hand written, which i wish more professors did. Easy to follow and VERY ORGANIZED class structure.

I loved Covault. His lectures were amazing and the examples he goes over in class basically shows up on the exams. He is a tough grader though, but he does make it up with his generous curve. I took him last semester for PHYS 121 and wished I had him again for 122 but unfortunately did not.

First impression, he's a real weird guy. Long beard, hippie-like, I didn't really take him seriously in the beginning. But he's honestly an amazing teacher who makes class fun. The tests can be difficult, but his curves are VERY generous. Just make sure you study and go to SI sessions because some students did struggle significantly. I miss him :(

Amazing professor all-around! Really made the subject interesting. Was super organized and really able to make it easy to understand. Emphasizes the importance of examples and gives lots of problems to practice. HWs are difficult but exams are similar so super helpful. Very generous curve. Wish I could've taken him for 122 too but sadly couldn't :(

Covault gives amazing, engaging lectures that are easy to follow even if you are the worst at physics. His grading is clear and easy to follow. He also gives a lot of opportunities to get better grades and to do well in the class.

Dr. Covault is definitely one of my favorites. The class is definitely tough and effort is required, but he is an amazing lecturer, makes the content clear, and really does care. The textbook and supplemental readings really aren't necessary. Focus on his review sheets, homework, and practice problems to do well!

Professor Covault cares about teaching a lot. He is a really great professor and I recommended for others. You will spend a lot of time doing homework. The homeworks prepare for tests but make sure you do the practice problems too. He gives you cheat sheets for the test which is really nice. The tests are difficult but somewhat manageable.

As someone that struggled the most with AP Physics in high school, prof Covault helped me truly understand and appreciate physics. His lectures are very engaging b/c he goes through plenty of examples. There is A LOT of homework but they help you learn. I was debating between taking 115 and 121, and I couldn't be happier with my decision.

Highly rec taking physics I w/ Prof Covault. For major/premed, I had option btw 115/121 but so glad I chose 121. Although material may be a bit more difficult, Professor Covault is really amazing at teaching, giving examples and very accessibly outside of classroom. Lots of office hours and quickly responds to emails. Curves class/exams by a lot.

Dr. covault teaches really well and provides useful review sheets which helps me to review the materials very efficiently. The grading for the exam/hw is generous in my opinion, as long as I can write out the thinking process, I will earn a great portion of grades. But lab part really sucks. Lab can really drag your grade down, so be careful.

He is a great professor, who really wants his students to be successful. There is a weekly homework that can take up to 10 hours sometimes, but there are a lot of ways to get help on the homework, including emailing him directly. The tests are difficult but he gives 3 practice tests beforehand that are very helpful. The final for me was impossible.

PHYS 121 with Prof. Covault was probably my favorite class from my freshman Fall. He's a funny and interesting professor. You have to make sure to do all of the homework because it is a big part of the grade and helps you understand material. If you do that, tests aren't too bad, and there is always a curve. Put in the time probably and A.

He provides very detailed notes for students to have a very clear idea what materials to study. Homework is important and he also provides very detailed explanations to the homework problems, so if you can understand all his notes, tests are not too hard.

One of the best professors I've had. The class is interesting and you can tell he really cares about his students. The tests were difficult, but there's lots of partial credit given. Pay attention in class, do the homework/practice tests, read the textbook/notes and you'll be fine. The bonus problems really help your final exam grade.

He makes it clear in the lectures what he expects so if you take note of it and follow it you will probably do well in class. Good teacher, and is willing to explain things again to make sure you understand. The homework is a pretty good representation of what will be on the exams but the exams are a little more challenging, naturally.

clear lectures and makes physics easier to understand. always has practice problems with thorough explanations. tests are designed to be slightly different from hw and practice problems to make sure you understand the concepts but he does give partial credit. took forever to get grades back. as of rn i only have 2/10 hw graded

Mr. Covault is the best choice to take PHYS121 out of the whole physics department. I came in with AP credit but decided to retake, and I'm so glad I did. Covault allowed me to understand what I was doing instead of just plugging in equations. Not an easy A by any means, but if you want to understand Physics, I'd suggest his class.

Dr. Covault is an amazing professor. He makes what your learning conceptual and easy to understand. Its a calculus based course but not heavy on proofs to teach concepts. Lots of demonstrations and all the problem types are gone over in detail. Homework is difficult but if you go to class and go to the SI sessions you'll be fine.

Professor Covault is amazing. He's very good at explaining things clearly for students and does multiple examples for the topics covered in class. Some of the homework was extremely hard, but there are plenty of places to get help. Difficult tests as well, but if you go to class and do the homework you'll be fine.

Really good lecturer and teacher. Assignments and exams are really reasonable. Super understanding. I literally submitted the wrong file on my final exam and he was so understanding and helped me fix it right away. He can be really bad at answering emails sometimes though.

Best physics teacher on campus no cap

Covault knows his physics and teaches in a way that's easily understood! Lectures are super entertaining and will answer questions asked in class or in office hours. Three exams and weekly homework keeps you on your toes. You will work for your grade but def a good choice for E&M if you have never taken the course before college.

I really enjoy Covault's lectures. You can tell he is very passionate. He explains concepts very clearly and makes it mostly easy to understand. One complaint I have is how he responds to questions. If you ask a question, he will usually interrupt you and assume he knows what you're asking before you can finish speaking. Same thing outside of class

Corbin was the best professor I've had so far and probably ever will. He conveys information clearly, and he is an extremely caring and flexible person. I was genuinely sad to see him go, and he's the only prof that I've ever seen get a standing ovation at the end of the semester.

Engaging professor, interesting lectures. Most notable about him are his unique homework and test questions. I'm not planning on studying physics, but even I felt like I was learning a lot about physics applications through his questions. And? He curves. Great guy.

Covault's lectures are amazing and explain the concepts very well. The curve is good (83 percent is an A) so it's very possible to get a good grade even though the exams are somewhat tough. Homeworks are graded extremely leniently and the SIs give out the answers. No book, just listen to his lectures and read his notes and you'll understand.

Covault's a fantastic teacher, and so easy to like. I recommend going to lecture often, because he's good at explaining concepts. The labs for this class suck for the most part, but you just gotta do them. The tests suck as well, imo, but you can do well as long as study everything you've gone over ever. The curve is massive thanks to the premeds.

Easiest professor I've had at Case. SIs give homework answers, he spends the first half of each lecture reviewing the last one, allows notes for exams (& most common score was often 100%), class was curved so 83% is an A. Lectures are great in terms of his presentation of material, though he does make a lot of mistakes and stumble upon his words.

Dr Covault's summer physics class was very well-taught, especially considering the fast pace of the course. He places a lot of emphasis on conceptual understanding and will find any way to provide partial credit on exams if you demonstrate that you know the general physics concept. Although tests are not easy, they're manageable with practice

I love Dr. Covault- he made me see physics in a different way than I had never thought about. I hated physics in high school but he made me love it in college. do the practice problems, understand the concepts well enough and you'll do fine on the exams. LOVE HIM!!!!!

Literally best professor ever. Made me love this subject so much. I always looked forward to hearing his funky music in class. He even sang a song himself on the last day of class. What a cool guy. Gonna miss him.

Takes forever to give grade the tests. He teaches really well and makes everything really easy to understand. Homeworks take a while to do which is annoying.

If you do what is expected of you, you get a B. He teaches physics in a new, innovative way that captivated me personally and actually had me excited to learn more. The only issue is, he stutters quite a lot. Overall, an incredible professor that is very clear with his instructions and what he wants

Covault is one of the best lectures that I have had at Case. He makes conceptually difficult concepts easy to understand. He is also very approachable and willing to answer questions after class.

Covault is a great lecturer and his homeworks are very good practice for the tests. Tests are decently difficult, but homework and SI sheets are great practice. Only debatable negative about him is that he is a stickler for the rules and is a harsh grader at times (Show your work). Very smart guy.

He teaches in a very inspirational way that makes many physics concepts easy to understand and makes me curious and want to learn more. He also shows examples of solving problems in the way he wants to see when grading, which is helpful. He is a very smart person. Can be harsh in having many requirements, but overall he is a great professor.

Mr. Covault is an excellent physics professor. I only had one year of regular high school physics (not AP) beforehand, so this was a great introduction to the subject. The labs are tedious, recommend TA Ilteris, he is good at explaining procedures (especially error propagation).

One of the best physics instructors I have ever had. His lectures were clear, made a lot of sense and were pretty fun. He had a nice sense of humor and was easy to understand. Of course, physics is hard and you will have to study,his homework was challenging, but I think his exams were reasonable. Overall, he had a great attitude and taught well.

Professor Covault is an engaging lecturer who makes complex physics concepts surprisingly easy to grasp. The workload is challenging, but using resources like unstuck AI alongside the textbook really helps. Definitely worth taking his class.

Professor Covault is a chill guy. Don't hate yourself but he has Bs degree in physics from MIT and took him only 6 years to get a Phd from Harvard. His enthusiasm in class arise the thought to study engineering.

Although my son missed honors physics in high school, this professor believed in him, embodying what great educators do—empower and encourage success.

He gives great review materials and funny lectures. There's a free supplemental textbook that he references with good explanations and derivations. Tests can be very difficult, but fair and curved.

Professor Covalt is an amazing professor and his lectures are all recorded. The homework assignments are due on a weekly basis so plan to spend a few hours doing those each week. While the tests may be hard, partial credit is HUGE and for each test, you get another cheat sheet to make and use. Grades on a very generous curve (~83 is an A).

funny and gave demos that promoted understanding of concepts we were learning. he accepts accountability when everyone does poorly on an exam and curves fairly. my grade was helped by having took a physics class in high school, but even without that he's a great teacher.

I found Dr. Covault a great teacher, especially since I struggle with physics. He offers plenty of practice problems, his tests are fair, and the SI sessions are very helpful. The final exam was tough (worth 35% of our grade), but he curved the scores, so we only needed an 80% overall for an A.

Amazing, funny lecturer who outlines and explains everything that you need to succeed in the course. Homework, especially lab HW, can be annoying. Exams are difficult but have generous curve.

Homework every week and can sometimes get difficult occasionally. Tests are much easier than the homeworks and study guides. You are allowed a crib sheet and it increases after every test. Final exam was very tough but the class is curved by a lot. An 83% is an A. Labs are a pain and the worst part. Grading takes a very long time.

Professor Covault is honestly one of the best professors I have had. He knows how to teach in a clear and straightforward manner, and he gives you all the materials you need to succeed in the class. I would definitely recommend going to class or watching the lectures because Covault knows how to prepare you for success.

Lectures are a joy. His notes (and diagrams especially) are very legible and help a lot. Can be a little disorganized, however Covault understands most students in the course aren't physics majors and makes the workload extremely manageable. Because of this, you get to enjoy the material being taught. I really recommend taking this as an elective.

Everyone loves Dr. Covault. He's a very smart and funny guy who is also a very reasonable person with regards to course expectations. Exams and homework are very straightforward. If you study you will get an A!

His lectures are good and he often does demonstrations to clearly explain physics concepts. Exams are very easy and First exam is only 5% of your grade. Final exam is a lot harder but he curves his class to match it (this year 84% was an A).

Covault is a very passionate teacher, and even though the content may sometimes seem kind of hard to grasp, he finds ways to make it understandable. Exams can have some confusing parts, and homework's are often long, but the curve is very generous for the overall course.

Spring 2025. The class was fairly easy, and Mr. Covault was an incredibly engaging professor. He did not have his own set of office hours this term, though, and the canvas page was not the best organized. Grading took much time, though grading was clear and fair. Final exam was worth 35% of the grade, but was not that difficult.

goated prof. nicest human and really good at explaining things, do all the practice exam problems and the SI summary sheets tend to have exact exam questions, so go to those and understand the questions. Write practice problems on the cheat sheets. You will get an A, not easily, but it's rewarding to see your hard work pay off.

Covault is a super caring and enthusiastic professor! Regarding the actual rigor of this class, it's pretty difficult without a doubt, and there are a good amount of weekly homework assignments that will take you a solid 1-4 hours, depending on the length. Exams are fair though and they often reflect the practice problems he gives you.

Had him for 121 and 122. Easily the best professor at Case. Structures his courses well, and he teaches these concepts very well. If you ever have a chance to take him to it. Uses the chalkboard method for all his lectures, and he doesn't just read off slides. Doing all the hw and practice problems will prepare you well for exams.

Tough subject and Covault is often all over the place in his lectures, but there are plenty of practice problems to prepare you for the exams. Final is 35% of your grade, which is pretty diabolical, and can be a massive make-or-break. As long as you stay on top of it throughout the semester, he gives you all the resources you need to succeed.

Exam 1 and 2 easy, try to pad grade with hw. Exam 3 was harder and final was absolutely vile. With that said awesome guy and this dude is meant to be a physics professor. Simply the GOAT at lectures

Very easy class and incredible professor. Starts from square one, which was helpful as someone new to physics. Midterm exams (25% of grade) were somewhat hard and a huge rush for 50 minutes with 2-3 questions, but generously curved. The final (35% of grade) was extremely easy, and anyone who can breath could get an A on it.

Prof Covault lectures well and provides great lectures. The class is clearly laid out with 3 exams and a final. Provided homeworks and practice problems closely reflect the concepts that are on the exams. This semester, grading was super slow with Exam 3 taking one month to be returned. That being said, overall a hard but rewarding class.
