He has very structured and clear lectures. The class itself was very very easy if you kept up with each new concept taught. He offers very little office for help unfortunately but he does help when he can. His class is very easy A if you put a bit of time in. His quizzes and tests are very fair.

Dr. Beck is a fantastic teacher and an all-around great guy. He explains the concepts very well and with quite a bit of passion, so even if you're not fond of chemistry you may find yourself a lot more interested! I am not a fan of calculations and stoichiometry, but Corey explained it in a way that made it more about logic and reasoning.

Great teacher! Works out examples of problems step by step in class. He also will answer and questions you have in class and take extra time to make sure everyone understands the material. Exams are semi-tough but he tells you exactly what to study.

Dr. Beck is honestly one of my favorite professors. I've had him for two semesters already and have been pleased. He does his best and truly wants his students to succeed. He is a new teacher and makes mistakes but he'll correct himself and take advice on students about his teaching methods.

Dr. Beck is probably THE single best professor I had since coming to college. He provides clarity on difficult topic, and may rush at times, but don't be afraid to ask questions. The course is definetly not easy, but he is fair and provides opportunities to cushion your grade. Be sure to put the effort forward and go to class.

Dr. Beck was one of the best professors I've had at Ohio University. I do not enjoy chemistry but he definitely made the course a lot more enjoyable with his enthusiasm. He was always available and very helpful at his office hours. I would definitely recommend him!

Dr. Beck has been one of the best professors I have ever had. He is always willing to help, and explain until you understand the material. He will physically draw it out for you until you understand it. He is all about student success. Easy to get more points if you just go in and talk to him.

Dr. Beck is super nice and he's always willing to help as long as you have specific questions. If you watch the videos and fill out his worksheets you're sure to get a great grade. I wish I had kept up with the worksheets because I could've easily gotten an A. Very fair grader. Nerdy, nice guy.

Professor Beck is probably the only good professor the science department has. He knows chemistry very well and he knows how to teach it well. Also his assignments go along directly with what he teaches. Plus you don't need a textbook, just TopHat. He actually made me understand and like chemistry.

He's excited at the start of every class. He gets right into the material. Very clear explanations, and is willing to work with you after class! He'll give you a lot of little homework assignments, but they are a tremendous help. Go to class, but it's not necessary as long as you sign into the mastering chemistry site during class time.

Generally not hard if you pay attention in class, however, tests are almost impossible. GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS!!! They help!

Dr. Beck is a great Professor, by far my favorite. He simplifies the material to a basic level. There not one class I haven't had a good laugh. He makes learning chemistry fun. He Gives pre- assignment videos that are a huge help with the material, along with a ton of office hours hes always willing to help you succeed.

Most delightful professor I've had! Very kind and excited about the material. Lays it out very simply. Tests are sometimes tricky but overall fairly easy. Very knowledgable guy :-) Loved him and this class!

Dr. Beck is by far one of my favorite professors, full of energy and always comes with a specific passionate attitude. Clearly loves Chemistry, his students, and life in general. He loves to teach focusing on education when he used to work with NASA. Overprepare for the exams.A very interesting guy, very intelligent, and overall a great professor.

Doctor Beck is a stud that worked at NASA that will break your heart, and your GPA. His class is very tough but you will pass if you work hard and study A LOT! Do not be afraid to use his office hours because he will help you. You will appreciate how he teaches once you get into higher chemistry. Very tough class in general.

He is a fantastic teacher. If you take this class I'm assuming it's because you're a science major. So yeah, the class can be difficult, but it's chemistry and more than likely you'll be required to know the material later on. I've learned so much in the class, he actually cares about your success. Dr. Beck is great. I'd recommend him to anyone.

Beck is a very interesting professor. He cares about his students and wants them to be successful. He always has his door open for office hours and is very helpful with explaining the material. Ask for help; you won't pass if you don't. He does push his students to succeed. I will always pick him as my professor and he's also a good guy to know.

Beck is awesome. He cares about his students, tells us what we could improve on, reminds us to come visit in his office hours and is always willing to go the extra mile to help. Very approachable, hilarious and good person. He doesn't want you to stress, but wants you to work hard to succeed in his class. I'm happy I get to have him in 1510 again.

Dr. Beck is an great professor for chemistry! First, he has great out of class lectures that teach you the topics. In class, he gets you to do problems over and over to learn the material which is beneficial. Next, he is easy to talk to out of class and get help. DO THE WORKSHEETS! The Quizzes and HW are not too bad and overall help your grade.

Dr. Beck is one of my favorite professors I have ever had as a university student. He posts videos to watch the night before coming to class so that we are prepared to answer his questions and participate in his discussion . Plus he is nice to look at.

Beck can come off as condescending, but it's just his sassy personality. If you can take a little attitude, visit his office hours or approach him after class with any questions. He doesn't like excuses but I find him approachable. Go to class and finish the ALEKS at least before the semester ends and you'll be fine.

Absolutely love Doctor Beck! he is an amazing professor and is a truly incredible chemist! you will have to work there is no doubt about that but it is insane how much you will learn and work. Only down side is now im in love with him so...

AMAZING prof. At first I didn't like his teaching style, he makes it so that you really have to understand the material, not just memorize. However, now I love it and feel like i can do any chem problem. EXTREMELY helpful, GO TO OFFICE HOURS! I could not have passed without him! DO e.c. and all video quizzes (little points add up). A lot of people think Dr. Beck is a bad professor, but that probably just means you aren't applying yourself in his class. He is a very nice guy who is consistently available for his students to get help from. Come to class, do the homework, do the extra credit, study, and you'll be fine

I was terrified of Chem1500 but Dr. Beck is a great instructor and his style really forces you to understand the material (rather than memorize). This class can be a breeze as long as you attend every lecture, participate in the TopHat and in class questions, and do the homework. Definitely do the practice worksheets he posts as well!!!

Very professional. I loved having his videos in addition to the lectures. Went to his office hours a few times with pretty dumb questions and he was nice about it.

While he does teach fast, he is big on making sure material is learned rather than memorized. I wouldn't have done well if I didn't go to his office hours though. People would rarely come unless it was right before a test, and it's unfortunate because he's really helpful and doesn't judge if you ask a "stupid" question. He's also fun to talk to!

Dr. Beck made me enjoy chemistry. He makes lessons easy to understand and follow along. Most of the class we do problems together and talk through them which was very helpful. I had him for 1500 and 1510, Wish he could teach 1520! He knows what he is talking about and he really wants you to do well, if you are having trouble go to office hours!

This is a tough class. In order to do well, you must attend all the class sessions and study hard. Since this was online for me because of the pandemic, time was a bit easier to manage. Dr. Beck is a firm grader, but a really cool dude. He provides you with all the materials you need, and lectures are very informative. Hes pretty funny, too!

I love him. He inspired me so much and really sparked my passion for chemistry. He is my favorite professor I've ever had. I enjoyed going to his class, and he always made my day brighter. The class overall can be challenging, but he made it more interesting to learn since he is such a lively soul.

Every course I've taken with Dr. Beck has been amazing. The man cares that you learn and is available to help whenever. Teaches through examples more than a slide slow and is very engaging. This course offered many extra credit opportunities and all tests were open note. He does not care how you learn as long as you learn.

Professor Beck is an extremely kind and caring professor. He makes sure to go above and beyond to ensure his students understand the material he is teaching. If you work hard, study and most of all do your ALEKS as he will constantly gripe on you to do, you will be successful in his class!

Beck is great. I'm very bad at chem but I enjoyed his class. Highly recommend, he's so funny and he makes lecture very interesting. I think you have to go to class in order to pass, but attendance isn't mandatory which I enjoyed if I had a test on the same day as lecture or something.

Dr. Beck starts off really slow at the beginning of the semester but then it ramps up and you can feel very rushed at the end of the semester. He provides extra credit after exams, does lots of in class examples, and provides supplemental videos. Just make sure to stay on top of your ALEKS

Dr. Beck is an excellent professor and is very straight forward about teaching chemistry. If you go to class and pay attention, it's easy to understand. If you know the practice exam, you know the exam. He is a bit sarcastic and could come off as abrasive to some people, but that's why I like him and think he is funny and a very passionate teacher

Dr. Beck is an amazing teacher. He uploads all his notes online, and even sometimes the entire lecture. Homework is due on the last day of the semester, so you don't have to worry about falling behind. He's also super friendly and cares about his students. Honestly, 350 characters is not enough to explain how amazing of a teacher he is.

In order to pass the class, I would recommend attending lectures. Dr. Beck goes over examples while he teaches and will work through chemistry problems with the class so you can get lots of practice before exams. He is very easy to talk to and is specific when answering questions. The practice exams have questions that will be on the actual exams.

Best professor I've ever had! Brings so much positive energy to the class and loves questions. Do Aleks every week on time to make life easier and do practice exams. He doesn't require attendance, but he actually teaches and does many problems in class that are helpful. He records his lectures and posts them if you had to miss class.

Beck was a good prof. Lectures were overall good and he would joke around and keep us engaged, but he did move quite fast. There was nothing unexpected during tests for the most part. The Aleks took a bit of work but overall were not often a huge inconvenience. I picked away at mine every week and completed them weeks before the semester was over.

Dr. Beck is about as good as it gets in the chem department. He genuinely cares about his student's success and really knows his stuff. He's very accessible outside class and will always take the time to explain things a second time if you need. Also a very reasonable grader and will give back a decent amount of credit for missed exam questions.

Great professor, very passionate about the class. Moves a little quickly for a freshman course, but not difficult. Lectures are a big help in understanding materials. These lectures are very fun and Dr.Beck is very funny. Homework is on ALEKS which is a downside. Lab included with this class is also very fun, but time-consuming.

One of the best professors I had at Ohio! Always go to office hours, he absolutely loves watching his students succeed and wants them to pass. He's a professor who actually cares! ALEKS is the homework but it's not that bad. Made me enjoy the class and would def take more classes of his!

Dr. Beck was hilarious and relatable. His lectures were engaging and he provided more than enough practice work. At times, though, he did seem out of touch with some students' struggles and would play it off as "easy," but other than that I know he really cared about the success of his students and ultimately their understanding of chemistry.

I am comically bad at chem and Dr Beck cleared a lot of it up for me! YOU MUST STUDY THOUGH! He speaks VERY fast and he goes thru practice problems fast but he is so. so. passionate about his field and it is very inspiring. A very memorable professor and a very entertaining class. One the best professors at Ohio University hands down. I have nothing but great things to say about Corey Beck. He really makes learning fun and is always there to help. Obviously you have to work for the grade, but he'll be there every step of the way.

He is a great professor. I always struggled with chemistry in high school, but coming into his class freshman year of college I was actually able to learn. He is very helpful, and he makes learning fun. I highly recommend. I am in his 1510 class right now, so far doing great!

Good guy who really knows his stuff. Quite literally the only negative I have about him is his "watch a video prior to lecture and practice during lecture" approach as opposed to doing both in class, and the simple fact that he does not give practice exams. I love Dr. Beck!! I had him last semester for CHEM 1500 and he was amazing! He makes me excited to be a chemistry major. He doesn't require attendance, but if you don't go to class and take notes, you're going to have a harder time. Watch the videos! Take notes before and during class! Also don't be afraid to ask him to questions :)

Beck is a great guy who made me realize how much I like chemistry. His class is super straight forward, and he gives practice exams which are almost word-for-word to the real ones. He really encourages participation and going to his office hours. It's still not an easy class because it's chemistry, but he tries his best to make the subject fun.

Wonderful professor. He truly cares about your understanding of the material and doesn't make you feel dumb when you ask questions. In fact, he encourages discussion and questions! His exams are easy, so I wouldn't stress about them. I'm not finished with the class, but I'm confident I won't get anything below an 85% in the course. Good luck!

Professor Beck is very knowledgeable and passionate about chem. He does a great job teaching and creates a very comfortable environment for students. I wish he taught more of the higher up chem classes, but he is a very very good starter professor. Exams are tough if you don't look at the study guide. Just look at it...Its literally the exam.

Has lectures that are actually engaging and gives lots of practice problems so you know what exams will look like. The TAs you will deal with are the exact opposite and can't even read a graduated cylinder or mix chemicals correctly, but I'm not factoring that into the rating.

His teaching method is going over material very quickly and do lots of practice problems. It's not for everyone, but I found it to be very helpful. Definitely watch the pre-class videos if you can, they give you a baseline understanding of what he goes over for that day. He gives the exam questions before-hand (without the numbers).

Prof. Beck is a great professor and person. He usually goes over a concept with one problem so just pay attention when he explains it. He cracks jokes in class and is a very real person. I would 100% take this course again with Prof. Beck.

LOVE THIS GUY. has lots of energy and keeps his lectures engaging, which is super helpful in the morning. homework is minimal, and exams are pretty straightforward. just fantastic prof overall.

Dr. Beck is AMAZING! His lectures move fast but he has such a great way of explaining hard topics in a way that is easy for most to follow. He gives a list of potential exam questions a week before each exam which help so so much. If you have to take a chem I recommend him 10/10. He is such a kind and humorous professor.
