It may only be the beginning of the semester but so far this prof. is awesome compared to the other prof. that "teaches" this course. He actually answers questions, takes the time to explain things and makes use of our $200, extremely well written textbook. Super improvement over the Anatomy class I attempted to take last semester!
Very good teacher! Very helpful and clear at gettin his point across to the students!!!
Timid at first, but warms up to class quickly. Entertaining and helpful. Always willing to answer questions in class. Does very good job of keeping pace with lab. Use blackboard notes and ppt presentations. ALWAYS read the chapter.
Good professor. He seems somewhat shy and hesitant at times, but he presents material in an enjoyable, easy to comprehend manner. He's far, far better than Bynum, no doubt. Take him if at all possible.
Funny guy. Teaches clearly, but his tests are not that easy. Since Lab makes 25% of the grade(for Bio 252) if you do WELL in the lab, you might get an A. And BTW, the course is really interesting since it teaches you the human anatomy. (MED, DENT students have to take)
Great professor. Vertebrate class was easy. Powerpoints and outline lecture notes are posted on BB. You can get thru the class w/o using much of the book. Studying his notes very thoroughly are enough to pass his tests (even make an A). Test questions are usually straight forward questions. He answers questions, is fair, and has a nice humor.
Great Professor. Unlike most bio profs he cares about his students. Funny, helpful, and makes class enjoyable. Outline notes are posted before lecture, which helps when the lecture material gets dull. Tests are fill in the blank & T/F, but he makes it clear what will and will not be on the test.
Very nice guy. Extremely helpful and cares a lot about his student. Not an easy class...lots of memorizations but you bust you butt and you'll do well ;) Plus he gives you a chance to make up for you lowest grade if you improve well enough.
I love Dr. Johnson!! :) Amazing professor. The class was at 8am but definitely worth coming to. Exams weren't too bad pretty straight forward but theres a ****ton of material, but thats for any class. Would definitely take him again for other bio classes.
Dr. Johnson is the best! He is readily available for office hours and his lecture notes are clear and concise. While I recommend that you read the textbook (it's helpful), you don't have to, since he only tests things that he covered in class. Plus, he is incredibly cute and fun to listen to!
Dr. Johnson is a sweet man & a good professor. He e-mails back very fast & is willing to meet with you/hold exam study sessions. BIOL in general is hard but straightforward so if you don't do well it's not his fault. His tests are completely reasonable & he makes little jokes in class. He also sometimes mentions his new daughter which is adorable.
By far the best professor I've had. Tells you exactly what will be on the exam (what's on the outlines). The book he chose is very good. Only tests you on material you go over in class although you need to know more details on those topics. Also very nice person who will be glad to help you with any problems.
I love Dr. Johnson! Probably the best professor I had at UNC.
GREAT TEACHER! Take him for A&P if you have the opportunity!!
Love Dr. Johnson (so cute), but this class is hard. My advice - write down every single thing he says in class and study like crazy. Tests are fair but hard. He is great with email so def email him with questions (I did all the time). Lab is a pain b/c he writes the exams now, not the TAs, so lab is not as easy. Book is not really needed.
ONE OF MY FAVORITE PROFESSORS! Anatomy and Physiology is a lot of work! but his powerpoints are great! He always seems to cover everything you need to know without rushing. you have to do your part (study his ppts), but you can't claim your failure on him.
Professor Johnson is the best professor I have ever had. Take any and all courses you can with him. Heck, if he was teaching Intro to Women's Studies or History of Medieval Europe I would take that class. The subject matter is difficult for A&P, but he makes it interesting. The assignments are easy. The multiple-choice exams are not. Study a lot.
Awesome professor. As he says "Just know everything and you will be fine". Biol 252 is a had class, but if I would have to take it all over again, I would take it with him. I would take any possible class with him, loved him. He is a great teacher!
A pretty clear lecturer but boring. He's monotone and will throw around some jokes, but I honestly couldn't pay attention in class. Watch out cause his tests are tricky. Sometimes he takes more questions from the book info and sometimes more from his lectures/ppts. Nice guy and if you argue back for test points, he'll most likely give you one.
Class uses both textbook and his lectures. There is a ton of information to learn but he does his best to make it fair albeit difficult. The first test was the easiest so don't slack especially on tests 2 and 3. He is engaging and committed to the class.
Great lecturer. The bio dept. needs more like him. Tests were tricky, but very fair. Purchase the bigger textbook. The condensed one does not cover some of his lecture material. That way, if you miss something from lecture, you can get it from the book. Super approachable and caring; never felt rushed out the door in office hours.
I would recommend him to anyone who is taking Anatomy and Physiology. It is definitely not a class you can easily pass by studying the day before. His exams are difficult but fair. Most of the exam questions are straight forward and some are tricky. Lab is a hard, so be careful and study a lot. He's such a cute and nice person.
Good lecturer
Challenging class. Soooooo much material, but you'll thank him later. Really great lectures. There's some of the talk-to-your-neighbor BS like other bio classes but not too much. This course helped me learn to READ, and I'm thankful for it.
Fantastic lecturer. Anatomy is a lot of dense material but he explains it clearly. Also, Johnson records his lectures which is clutch af when studying. Be sure to get the poll everywhere question right! Correct answers give an extra bonus point. The tests are tough but they are completely fair and straight forward. TAKE HIM
Amazing professor. Truly cares about his students. If you do the work and don't get behind on the readings, it's easy to do well. Also, his lectures are hilariousssss! and when I came a few minutes late to an exam one day and there were no more seats, he let me sit in the front so I'll have a desk. You can tell he truly cares about his students.
Definitely one of the best professors I've ever had at UNC. The material's tricky but he made it easy to follow along. His lectures were always fantastic and I actually looked forward to going because I knew that it was going to be entertaining. His tests were fair and long enough that a misstep or two wouldn't be devastating. Take his class!!!
He is an amazing professor and lecturer. You have a lot of reading and the material is not easy to understand but he is very willing to work with you in office hours or if you have any questions. He is also such a nice person and makes a lot of jokes that make the class enjoyable.
I am amazed at how Dr. Johnson can explain so much in one lecture without it ever becoming overwhelming
One of the most humorous prof at UNC. Give amazing lectures where he crams in a lot of information without it ever feeling rushed or overwhelming. Attendance not mandatory but highly recommend. HW is easy but time-consuming. 252 understanding, 252L an overwhelming amount of memorization. Not recommended to be taken simultaneously as MCAT prep
Dr. Johnson is an absolutely incredible professor. The best lecturer I have ever had at Carolina. He is so clear and so easy to understand. He makes Physiology seem so simple. Exams are not easy, but fair. Lab is just hell- there is so much to memorize and it will take the majority of your time.
I did not have Dr. Johnson for BIOL 252, but I had him this semester for the second semester Human A&P (BIOL 253). He is a great teacher who really cares about the students learning the material. He seems to implement that same teaching style as 252 (recorded lectures, using online HW platform, tests are not too difficult).
Dr. Johnson is great! He's very laid back and approachable, knowledgeable of the course material, and makes lectures enjoyable. He records his lectures, which is nice; I definitely rewatch the lectures in preparation for exams. His exams are fair, but only 45 questions and compose 88% of your grade, so make sure you are confident going into them.
One of my favorite professors at UNC. Excellent at explaining difficult anatomical concepts, and always has time to address questions. He posts lectures online, and his tests are basically straight off the lectures. Very do-able class, in my opinion.
Dr. Johnson is by far the most genuine professor I have had at UNC! He is very willing to work with students, and just wants to see you succeed. His tests make up a lot of your grade, however he gives you more than enough tools to prepare for them (definitely recommend rewatching lectures). Overall, Dr. Johnson is very incredible- highly recommend!
BEST professor I've had at UNC!! He's hilarious and makes lectures interesting with his sense of humor. He's also very knowledgable and great at explaining concepts. He records the lecturs with audio AND video, which I recommend rewatching all lectures in preparation for exams. There are 3 exams which make up 90% of the grade, so study for those!
Dr. Johnson is the best professor I've had at UNC! He explains the complex material in a way that is easy to understand, and he truly cares about his students' success. His sense of humor really makes the class enjoyable. The exams take preparation, but he records the lectures which makes studying easier. I highly recommend taking his class!
Dr. Johnson has been one of the best professors that I've had at UNC thus far. The class is interesting and he makes them even more interesting with his sense of humor. Re-listening to lectures is a must but, if you can do that you can pass the class. Also, the lab is super enjoyable and nowhere near as difficult as the 252 lab.
Dr. Johnson is my favorite science professor at UNC. He makes fair tests unlike many other professors do, so if you study and put in the work you can do well. Re-listen to the lectures! That's a huge key to success in his class. Grade is made up of 90% tests and that scared me but it ended up being okay.
Honestly one of the best professors at UNC. Makes the class fun and keeps you engaged for the most part. The exams DO require you to study in order to pass; but if you do study, you'll be perfectly fine. Tells a lot of jokes during his lecture. I'd recommend going to class, but he does record lectures and post the PowerPoints. Highly recommend him.
Had him for comparative vertebrate anatomy ("evolution of vertebrate life"). IMO, the clearest explainer I've seen in the department. His powerpoints are also hilarious. The grade was based on four exams, which seemed intimidating at first, but if you start studying as soon as possible, they are extremely reasonable.
SOMEONE GIVE THIS MAN A RAISE!! Unlike the majority of biology professors, he explains things amazingly well, posts his lectures for reviewing at home, and TESTS FAIRLY!!! If you study, you can do well and he makes difficult concepts so clear through examples. Also hes really funny and always makes himself available to talk to students.
Dr. Johnson is a great professor. His only downfall is that his lectures can be boring and mundane. He explains things very well and his tests are fair. Would recommend!
I never leave reviews for professors, but Prof. Johnson is a real gem in the Bio department. He is super kind and you can tell how much effort he puts into his Powerpoints. He is a great professor and very knowledgeable about what he teaches. I would definitely recommend this course.
If you can avoid taking this class, please do. It's so hard for no reason. You basically get graded for your ability to memorize
The way BIOL 252L is set up is bad. Like another review said, it's literally based on how well you memorize things. Exams are 80% of your grade and the way they grade is very specific and nit-picky, so good luck. I don't think this lab helps students learn or succeed.
A breath of fresh air from other UNC STEM courses. Exam questions are straight from the lab manual and really easy. What makes this course difficult is the amount of memorization, but that's true for any anatomy lab. Just space out your studying, use flashcards, and don't wait until the last minute to label your model diagrams and you'll be fine
Dr. Johnson was amazing during the transition back to in person. He understood that it would be very difficult to come back to in person (especially in a course with so much to memorize). He was sure to curve appropriately and was very understanding of students going through difficult times. The course is HARD, lots to memorize. Stay on top of it!
Professor Johnson was extremely understanding this semester, considering the difficulty of the course and the tough adjustment to having in-person classes. The questions on exams were straightforward but require a lot of memorizing (the hardest part, in my opinion) and spelling is very important. Would take him again!
I would definitely recommend this class. It does require a lot of memorization but other than that, there really isnt a lot of work. We had 3 quizzes and and a number of GRQs that counted towards our grade and that was it. Professor Johnson was really understanding this semester and gave curves when needed.
The three exams are worth about 90% of your grade. The textbook is super dense and it's all about memorization. Prof Johnson did understand how coming back to in-person classes after over a year of online classes heavily impacted the overall exam grades.
Professor Johnson was the most understanding professors I've had. The honors course is difficult straight from Bio 101. Great lecturer and also posts online recordings. Best way to study for the class is rewatching lecture videos over anything else. We had opportunities to improve our grades which was awesome. Go to his office hours for questions.
Very clear lectures. Prepared you well for tests, no surprises! Very relaxed class setup, easy to follow along. Fresh of air from other STEM classes at UNC. you will do great!
Do not take anatomy lab at unc unless you absolutely need to. The class is not set up in a way that encourages learning, you go to one class a week and go through a PowerPoint with maybe 15 out of the 50ish terms then you play with plastic models. Tests are extremely hard and you have 90 sec at each station, which is anxiety-inducing enough.
One of the easiest STEM classes you will take at UNC, but it requires a lot of time and effort. There's a lot of info and details you need to know but Dr. Johnson/the TAs do a good job of telling you what to expect. Highly recommend using lab time/open labs to look at models even though they're optional since that's what you'll be tested on.
If you are taking BIOL252, TAKE IT WITH DR. JOHNSON. He is the professor for the lab too, and it made talking too him about the lab much easier, and less nerve wracking, since he knew who I was. Dr. Johnson is easily one of the most caring and understanding professors at UNC, and is more than willing to work with his students. Highly recommend.
I learned a lot of interesting stuff in this class, it was super fun! If you are taking the class, take it with Corey Johnson. He gives really good lectures, provides resources to ensure you are able to succeed, and is accessible outside of class. He also wants you to succeed, and will help you if you put in the effort. Great class and great prof!
Pretty solid choice for a professor. I heard this class is harder than normal A&P, but Johnson himself was pretty laid back and understanding. If u hate papers tho, u do have to write 1 or 2 for this class
THE GOAT. Material is rough and dense, but he made it as bearable as possible. He TRULY and GENUINELY cares for his students. My all-time favorite STEM professor since being here at UNC.
Tough tough class. It's a lot of material but an A is achievable. Be ready to commit at least ~10 hours (4hr per reading+notes, 2hr of looking over notes) of your week to the conceptualization of topics. You really have to be on top of your game.
Whoever said this stem is easy is either a memorizing wizard or already had prior knowledge. A lot of pre-meds have an advantage in this class so I suffered through. Grading was so ridiculous, no partial credit even if 95% of the answer was correct. TAs gave misleading info so much and acted like stuff was not important. TAs sent rude emails.
The anatomy lab is a tough course that requires a lot of time outside of lab to put in the effort to memorize the material. That being said, Dr. Johnson is extremely caring and accessible outside of lab. I had some personal issues going on that affected my test scores and Dr. Johnson helped me get past those scores and I ended up doing well.
He is an amazing Anatomy professor. His test are hard but definitely fair. You do have to put in the work but it's fair and he has a option for exam grade replacement via essay
Take Dr. Johnson's class! His lectures include everything that will be on the exams, and he is very open to student questions in office hours. This class reminded me of how I've heard professional school classes will be - fair but comprehensive presentation of the material. He explained the material very well, and made learning easy.
Professor Johnson is awesome! Not a huge amount of work, and the tests were very fair. You'll definitely need to study and read through the textbook, but they're comparable to the tests I've taken in 201, 202, and 205 (maybe slightly easier). Also, the lecture exams were on different weeks from my other stem exams, which was very nice.
Dr. Johnson was accessible outside of class and seemed like a very nice person through his emails. However, the level of difficulty in this class was ridiculous. Easily the hardest lab I've ever taken. The difficulty of material and amount of time I had to spend outside of class was equivalent to a 4 credit class.
Corey Johnson is a great professor and his material is fair. This lab is only as hard as you make it. All the materials you need for the tests are clearly given to you. There are numerous study resources and people (TAs/LAs) who are there to help you! This class is a lot of memorization. Start studying well before exams and the tests will be easy.
Lab was VERY hard for exams; even if you understand the material you have to be extremely specific or you will get no credit. Even if you have the correct term but are not specific enough then you will not get credit. He will be accommodating when warranted though which is helpful. Be ready to study for hours
Material is very similar to BIOL 252. Exams are fair and based entirely in what is covered in the slides. Go to office hours if possible; Dr. Johnson is super accessible and kind so if you aren't understanding something or need help, talk to him directly.
Amazing. He is a great professor and genuinely cares about his students. He makes lots of dad jokes, it's funny to hear during lecture. His tests are very fair and if you study for the exam you'll do good because he really is just testing to see your knowledge and not to trick you like other professors. Definitely recommend!
Everyone seems to love his teaching style but I don't. This class is worlds harder than any class I've taken at UNC, harder than chem 101/102 for me. Lab surprisingly is way better than the lecture. I leave class more confused and the tests are ridiculous
Dr. Johnson is one of the best professors I've had. The exams are very fair, include material straight from all the lectures. Nothing he doesn't lecture about is on the exams. Lectures are interesting and he's pretty funny and overall a really nice guy.
By far, he is one of the best professors at UNC. I would highly recommend that if you is teaching 252 or 253, to take it with him. He actually cares about you as a student and wants to see you succeed! His tests are straightforward and he tests directly on what he says within his lectures (re-watching lectures is honestly the most useful tool).
I LOVE COREY JOHNSON. He is the absolute best and the only way to go for physiology. He makes the content very understandable, I never read the textbook, only went to class and have gotten A's on all 3 midterms. His tests are so fair and he records lectures. I'm sad I wont have his class next semester. Best professor everrrrrrrr!
Anatomy lab is really hard. You have to commit at least 10+ hours a week if you really want a good grade. All memorization and you'll get 0 points if you use one wrong letter. They put stuff on exams that isn't in the slides and can only be found in the lab manual. Also don't rely on study resources because there are mistakes and spelling errors
Dr. Johnson is the way to go for BIOL252. His class wasn't 'easy' but it wasn't hard. The exams were fair and represented what we had learned in class. Read the textbook beforehand (don't take that many notes) and go to the lecture and you'll be good. He was also funny af and was nice to everyone. Take him!!!
Take BIOL 252 with him if you can! Any anatomy class is going to be hard, but at least he made it fun, and interesting, and the test questions were straightforward for the most part. The final was a lot harder than I expected and it ended up pulling me down a letter grade, but overall at least I learned a lot in the course.
If you're taking this class, be prepared to study regularly throughout the semester. It's all memorization, so do whatever is best for you to memorize things. They give an anki set which is semi-useful for identifying different parts, so use that. You do not need to spend 10 hours a week studying... just use anki early on and read the lab manual
This class is DIFFICULT but has nothing to do with Dr. Johnson. He is very knowledgeable on the content and is good at explaining. The test questions are all pulled from lecture content and are either application, basic knowledge, or a super specific detail. Taking notes during lecture is necessary because he does not annotate slides but records.
Anatomy is a hard class at UNC, but if you have to take it, take it with Johnson. He was so nice and caring. His tests don't allow a cheat sheet, but I preferred that because the questions were easier.
I honestly really enjoyed this class with Dr. Johnson. He was super accessible and friendly and his tests were super fair. As long as you put in the effort in this class you'll do fine since the textbook isn't super complicated and his tests don't include anything he doesn't talk about in class, definitely recommend Dr. Johnson's class!
This is definitely a difficult class and Johnson does a good job at explaining things and doesn't mind if he needs to reexplain. Weren't many things to grade in this course. Exams are a large percentage of the grade. Attending group reviews and office hours help. Provides practice exams. He seems like a nice guy that wants to do his job well.
Dr. Johnson is amazing, and I learned SO MUCH. But I feel like his section of the class was harder than the other profs. Other sections were allowed cheat sheets on exams and had a non-cumulative final, which was not the case for us. Exams were fair though. Worth the trade-off though because this was one of my favorite classes!
Lecture is very TA dependent, but you can learn everything on your own because exams are based off the lab manual. There are A TON of things to memorize, but there are a lot of resources they provide, like an Anki deck and practice questions, so it is doable. Nothing is really difficult to understand, just takes a long time to memorize it all.
Clear lecturer, easy exams, and provided practice exams that had questions from the real exams on them. There were warmups and readings due before class, but it's no issue to skip the readings, as all the information on the exams comes from the lectures. Also one of the best dressing STEM professors I've had if you care about that kind of thing
it felt like a bulldozer was crushing us each week. class was doable but at the cost of students leaving the room crying. so I guess pick your own battles.
He is good at making things clear and posts the lectures so you can go back. The only reason I wouldn't take him again is because for both 252 & 253 the other profs allow cheat sheets and he doesn't. Not really fair when students are all applying to med/pa/nursing school and some students had to study twice as hard without a cheat sheet
I aboslutely love Corey Johnson as a professor, I wish he taught more classes. Don't let the no cheat sheets scare you, he knows his stuff and can properly answer any question you have. Also, the exams are much easier than you'd think because of the lack of cheat sheet. Best professor I've had by far.
Each exam is worth 20%, there are 2 non-cumulative exams. They consist of 50 identification open-response questions (no word bank) and 50 application questions (random and open-response). By each exam date, you should have memorized roughly 150 terms, this class only consists of memorization. The final is cumulative and 30% of your grade.
I spent more time on this than on the actual BIOL 252 course. This is unforgiving, relentless, and extremely poorly designed for it to be a 1 credit lab. Honestly, it wouldn't be much of a problem if it didn't have the RANDOM application questions that makeup 50 questions on each exam. No teaching is done, this is purely a test of your memorization
There is just SO MUCH content. Each lecture is a flood of material that you are expected to memorize. To make it worse, 50% of the questions on the exams are random application questions that are most times not even mentioned in lectures. The format of this class is lazy, making the students do all the work, an unrealistic amount of memorization.
Exams were taken on paper, open response, pure memorization, and the photos of the models were so poor in quality. The last 2 exams were on paper, and it was harder to see the picture than it was to recall what it actually was.
Dr. Johnson was one of my favorite professors at UNC! The content is difficult, but he is a great lecturer and explains things well. He provides a practice exam before each exam, which is really helpful. This class is mostly physiology rather than anatomy, which was very nice. Definitely take him if you can.
This course can be very time consuming because it requires a lot of memorization. However, there are plenty of resources that you can use to study for exams. This course is also very lecture-dependent and it's helpful if you get a TA that explains the content well.
Dr. Johnson was great; I don't know why so many people complain about 252L. Yes it's hard, but you have to lock in and spend hours studying and you'll get an A because it's just memorization based. The GRQs and quizzes are all graded for completion, and the exams are super easy. It's the TAs that do most of the instruction though.
The goat. 253 is more focused on physiology which was nice. Exams are difficult but you can do well if you prepare. 253L was MUCH easier than 252L.
Dr Johnson is an entertaining lecturer and his tests are super fair. He gives lots of opportunities for practice and is easy to reach outside of class. My fav BIOL professor so far!
This class really depends on your TA but Johnson gives you lots of materials to be successful. There is so much practice provided and the lectures are pretty thorough. Overall just be ready to memorize new things and you'll be fine. It's hardly the horror it's made out to be.
Dr. Johnson is a great professor and is so funny during lecture. In my opinion his tests are significantly easier than the other anatomy professors. They are super straight forward and are straight from the reading and lecture
He is a great professor and lecturer. You can tell he enjoyed the subject he teaches. In my opinion, he is the best professor for the anatomy and physiology course.
Dr. Johnson is a great professor and would highly recommend taking a class with him! His lectures are easy to follow, and he injects a lot of humor and excitement into them. He clearly cares about his students and is fair in his expectations for class and grading. The exams are all multiple choice and are very manageable if you do the assigned HW.
Best professor. Easy to follow and entertaining lectures are recorded, class structure is clear, homework light, tests are all multiple choice and easy. Very accessible outside of class and seems to care a lot about student success. Anatomy isn't an easy subject by nature, but he makes it really approachable.
Johnson was an amazing professor! I was scared for this course, but Johnson eased my fears. His lectures are great and he is funny, inserting jokes whenever he can. His tests are very fair, ranging from straightforward to application questions; he only tested on what he taught. Take him if you're able. I heavily recommend him for this course!
Best STEM Professor I have EVER HAD at UNC. Dr. Johnson is the best; he is very understanding, and his lectures are fantastic. He always takes his time to make sure everyone understands the material. His exams are practically based on the information he discusses in the lectures. Rewatch his lectures before each exam, and study your notes!
He was very understanding and helpful with grading!
Corey Johnson was a great professor who genuinely cared about his students. Although the lecture sizes were large, he made the class interesting. I think the tests in his class were extremely fair, which is one of the reasons I liked this class so much. Would definitely recommend taking his class over any of the other anatomy professors!
Dr. Johnson is the best bio prof. I have had so far at UNC. He actually teaches the material. He also provides practice exams before each exam that are extremely comparable to the actual exams. The textbook and homework are helpful. If you attend class and study you will do well. He's also super funny.
I cannot speakly highly enough of Professor Johnson. He's understanding, encouraging, and a delight for any student. He does not allow cheat sheets but his tests are noticeably easier than other professors who do permit cheat sheets. Professor Johnson is an incredibly lecturer, and just a good person in general.
BIOL252L is a tough class, but with the right study approach, you can definitely succeed. Consistent memorization and using resources like Unstuckstudy alongside the lectures and textbook make all the difference. The exams are challenging, but the TAs provide great support.
I cannot express just how amazing Dr. Johnson is! By far my absolute favorite professor. He takes time to get to know his students, ensures you know the material, engages students in lecture, and genuinely loves what he does. I like his group office hours, where he has spent both group and one-on-one time with students. Take his class if you can!
Had him for 252, and I'm so glad I have him again for 253. His lectures are super well organized, he's great at explaining tough concepts, and I feel the exams are very fair. You can tell he really cares about his students and implements their feedback for the class. Plus he's a really funny guy.
Professor Johnson is by far my favorite professor I've had at UNC. In both 252 & 253, he breaks down difficult concepts & makes them feel clear and approachable. It's obvious that he truly cares about his students' success and puts in the effort to help us do well. He makes lectures genuinely enjoyable - I always look forward to going to his class!
Professor Johnson is ABSOLUTELY the professor you want to take Biol 252/253 with 100%. He is a great lecturer and gives exams that are solely multiple choice. Provides practice exams and tries his best to teach at a pace that gives you time to process and understand concepts. Attendance is just PollEvs. I would 1000% take a class with him again.
Most of the class is the TA; but overall this class was really easy. Start studying the Anki about a week or two out from each exam, do the labeling exercises, online exercises, and take GRQs/PLQs seriously and you'll get an easy A. The exams were some of the easiest exams I've taken at UNC, I didnt take more than 45 minutes on any of them
Take Johnson!!!!!! Best anatomy professor here. Made me actually enjoy the content, and gave fair exams. He is a Hilarious guy who keeps you laughing throughout the lecture, and you can tell he has a true joy for the teacher. Give him a raise!!!!
Dr. Johnson is truly one of the best professors I've had at UNC! He is very kind, understanding, and easily approachable. He genuinely wants you to succeed! With that said, the class is tough, but it is fair. Put in the work and it pays off!
So much memorization. Worse than the actual anatomy class.
Dr. Johnson is THE BEST professor I have ever had. The course material can be hard, but he teaches in a way that makes everything so easy to understand. The only assignments are GRQs through Pearson that you have unlimited attempts for. He also provides practice exams to prepare you for each exam. Could not recommend him enough!
Corey J is THE GOAT. A simple guy who doesn't make his mission to make his students miserable. Not a ton of grades but exams are relatively easy if you study. Best Bio class at UNC. He is hilarious
my fav prof of all time without doubt. genuinely has the students in tears of laughter multiple times a lecture, and WANTS us to succeed. the course content is hard, but i find it so easy to understand with how his lectures are set up and the jokes he makes. i have a 97 in the class rn and the final should be a breeze. def take him for a&p!!
The best STEM professor I've ever had. I wouldn't say the content is easy but his exams are very clear and very reflective of what you learn in class. He definitely wants students to succeed and gives every resource possible to do well for exams.
Dr. Johnson is awesome! He is an incredibly effective lecturer and funny. His attendance and homework policies were extremely lenient, leaving room to miss class and turn in homework up to a week late. His exams are extremely fair and consistent. Take 252 with Dr. Johnson, you won't regret it!!!
Absolute beast. The most straight-forward UNC STEM class. I learned a lot too.
The GOAT. Material is straight forward from lectures. He records all lectures, and attendance is lenient. Talk to him in office hours, he is so very understanding. Would not have taken this course with no one else.
Should not be a 1 credit class. It's hard but not impossible. DO THE ANKI and practice provided and you'll be pretty prepared. Is all memorization with some application -- the application depends on what you memorize. Review sessions, open labs, and LAs are excellent resources. Hope for a good TA they can make or break the class and your graded
I absolutely loved Dr. Johnson; he was a great teacher and had very fair exams. Would definitely take again.
Dr Johnson is really caring and very knowledgeable. He is easy to reach outside of class and is super accommodating to all of his students. His exams aren't super difficult if you go to class and study the material, as well as the only work outside of exams is a Mastering due before each class period. Would highly recommend!
This class can be very difficult if you don't make it a point to study the Anki in between every class session. If you do use the Anki and go to open labs, the exams aren't too difficult but are definitely still challenging. There is a lot to memorize in this class, but it is definitely doable!
