She came from Rice University and teaches this class like she's at Rice. Gives lots of assignments and pop quizzes. Prepare to kiss any free time goodbye if you take her. This was indeed one of the hardest class I've ever taken!

Prof. Schweitzer is awesome. I thought i'd hate her, but it turned out to be the best class of my year.
Schweitzer is a teacher I'll always remember. Her class was never boring and she writes alot of helpful comments on papers to help to get me to write better. Highly recommend.
The hardest class I have ever taken. Agree, no free time. However, you will learn a lot. Write down every word that comes out of her mouth, you will need it for tests. I am a better writer because of her. You can get an A, just apply yourself. Highly recommended.
Took an online class from her. Totally hated it. Maybe because it was British Lit. If you are not into poems and understanding what the poet is trying to say. Do not take this class at least not on line.
Do not recommend. Grades terribly and no compassion whatsoever when she grades. Do not take this class if you are not interested in British Poetry. Think about taking another English course but do not take her.
I disagree about the online class. I thought she graded fairly and gave tons of feedback on my essay.
The hardest class I have ever taken since entering college. VERY Demanding, instructions were very unclear, always graded work on everything she did not ask for on essay. Expected waaaay too much of students, Taught as if she was teaching for their master.

Goshhhh!!!!this lady is weird,starting from her whatever british poems to "Buffy" the Vampire Slayer movie i knew i was in a damn wrong class again just like i've to the hiastory class before.What a trap dowg!this has been the worst class in my entire college years
I took this class Fall 05 & in the beginning, she seemed hard.As long as you read what she assigns you'll be fine. She ended up to be very fun, baking cheesecake for us and it was Delicious. Her grading in the beginning was a bit more tough but I noticed if the class enjoys her and participates in discussions, she will be lenient with the A/Bs
Her syllabus makes an A sound impossible, but it turns out that she does give them. Complete the assignments. She expects the essays to be good so utilize the English writing lab at Central campus for help. I made a mistake in not going there for help with organization and formatting. It's free, and you'll actually learn how to write an essay.
I hated this class. i thought i was doing well at first, and i came to class everyday. I missed 1 class and had to turn something in.(it wasnt even a big assignment)It knocked me down a lot. She did not let me turn it in when i came back. She is weird and thinks she is a genius. I advise you not to take her, unless you are weird just like her.
A little weird, but very smart. It takes alot of you in this class. I tried my best and I should have made a C, but she gave me an A. If you do your best, she rewards you. Took this online, and for Comp I it was EXTREMELY difficult and time consuming!! She's there to force evryone to be a better writer or fail her course.
I HATED IT!!!! its too freaking demanding, and she doesnt even clarify directions. She acts like she is the only class that you are taking and IT SUCKS! as a first time college student, it was a horrible experience.
I took her last year for Comp I. I didn't like her at first, but she grew on me. She ended up being my favorite professor. I should have taken her for 1302. My teacher is awful. God I miss Corie.
i hated her. she is very, very hard. if you are really interested on lerning go ahead and take it but this class is hard. you have to turn in a paper every week!! it takes a lot of your time. if u come 6 min late u miss the quiz and she wont let you take'em again no matter what. you will probably learn. but is hard!!
I took her online class. She gives tons of feedback and gives you tons of chances to rewrite for higher grades. She is my favorite professor and I plan to take her again if I can.
Just to be clear,she is worse than any english teacher on campus.Ever.If you want to pass,I suggest you find either another teacher,another school,or another country.She is THAT hard.
She's awesome. Only hard if you don't do the reading or pay attention in class. Her class is very easy to follow. She's hyper-organized. Warning, though--she doesn't suffer fools gladly. If you actually want to learn how to write better, take her. If you want to skate by, take someone else.
This is the first time I enjoyed an English class. Prof. Schweitzer is not easy, but I learned a lot from her. She'll let you tons and tons of rewrites to get your grade up.

A very hard teacher! Especiall if you are taking a full load of classes. She assingns way too many papers.
She is not clear at all! extremely difficult in grading, and not considarative of the effort done!
This is a very hard class! Please advise, if you are taking more than one class, skip this teacher and choose another. The research alone will bog you down, not to mention making heads or tails of it then writing a paper!
The worst teacher I have had in a long time. I wish I would have read the comments before I took this class. I did well (A's and B's) in all of my english classes, but I would have had a C or D.
At first I didnt think I'd like her but by the end of the semester she became by favorite teacher. I learned more from her than anyone else. She's tough, but she's fair.
this professor is too hard she gave like about three assignments each week. if you made more than three mistakes on her essay assignments she would give you a zero and make you do assignments over.

Pros: a knowledgeable instructor in her field; sense of humor. Cons: too heavy a work load; not accessible enough if doing online, which I do not recommend. And she treats the course as much a composition course as a lit course. Our class started with 15; ended with 5. Not for the slacker students.
An elitist, so walk on eggshells. Lacks analytical teaching qualities. Does not respond to email or calls, gives very little feedback and takes forever to grade papers. Once you do receive your graded papers, useless comments such as 'not interesting' make her seem lazy and inefficient, no real depth to her grading. Material was fun, she wasn't.
Very percise. A lot of assignments that can sometimes become ovewhelming, but overall, if you keep up, not bad...The course is mainly online, but you are required to attend class to complete a group research paper, which prepares you for the one you will have to write yourself. Gives great feedback, tells exactly what you need to work on!!!
usually do well in english. enjoyed class time and discussion but she graded very hard and would give you time to rewrite papers but who has time. would not bend on formatting. Was able to receive an A on quizzes with no formatting but 0 with formatting. class dwindled from 25 down to 12. was the 12th to withdraw rather the W than an F
iam a foreigner.took her comp 1 and comp2 class and have to say-not easy. definately you have to do your work but she tells you exactly what you need to do. if you are one of those lazy student who complain always,dont take her class. but it is not her fault if nobody studies. it is doable i got an A in both classes.opportunity to redo+extra credit

No help at all,my fellow classmates helped me more than the professor. out of the 20 that started, 8 remained at the end. she never returned calls or emails when the student had questions. She did not adequately teach the class. I would not recommend this professor to anyone.

Ms. Schweitzer is an amazing teacher! As many have said, this class if not an easy A. It will take dedication and commitment to get an A in her class...but after all shouldn't you be doing that anyway?
She is very hard! You do a really silly and pointless "civilization." She grades very hard, I dropped this class. You may like it if you are an English major, but anyone else STAY AWAY!!
I was enrolled in "her" Film & Literature course... aside from "her" annoying voice and incomprehensible speech.. I would have to say her most offensive quality is her idiocracy.. her lectures.. pathetic.. I could have taught this class with my eyes closed and have done a far better job. "Her" personality made me want to vomit. "She" is repellent.

Takes forever to grade your work so you have no idea how you are doing throughout the semester. Changes her rules constantly. There were only 6 ppl left when semester was over. Shes not helpful if you need help. I learned everything in the English lab. Even the english lab tutors express frustration about her methods.Semester long aggravation.
I absolutely love English so I honestly thought this class would be fun, but it was nothing of the sort. This class was torture! The incessant reading and writing was ridiculous, and then she forced us to participate in that god awful CIVILIZATION adventure. It made me want to slowly kill myself. I dropped this class and never looked back!
I wish I had known about this site prior to enrolling in this class. This professor is NOT worth your money. SHe makes the class harder than it needs to be. I enrolled in this class as a retake and I may have retake the class another time. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PROFESSOR! She gave zeros on assignments and didn't tell me why.

This teacher grades your paper late and her instructions are very unclear. Please reconsider before taking this class. It is not worth your time.

I see alot of people are complaining..however if you want to be challenged and learn this is a great professor..she is EXTREMELY fair and she strives for perfection from her students. I wish more professors were like her. If you are serious about yor college career this would be a great class to take..beautiful person!
Very good teacher. I believe one of the best you could find. However, you will need to study and make the homework. If you do your job you will get a good grade.
I took this professor this Spring, and trust me when i say this. Shes hard, her lectures are usually unclear, shes not interesting for most of the time..and she grades strictly. Especially when it comes to Essays, she ahs this many rules to write a decent paper..If you wanna pass easily in this class, i would say you have a low chance.
Professor Schweitzer is a great teacher! What she's great at is previewing your papers before handing them in! If you keep up with your assignments and ask questions and she doesn't respond...don't be shy, KEEP trying! She rewards EFFORT! I took her for the 2nd time and thoroughly enjoyed the class!! I would HIGHLY recommend if you work hard!
Everyone is complaining about her, but I liked the class. She gives the oppertunity make up your bad grades. This was an easy class for me. I missed on of the exams, thats why I git a B, but if I would have taken it, easily would have made an A. And I hate english. She does take forever to grade, you have to press her to get it done. This teacher is the WORSE teacher in the history of teaching! She is deaf in one ear, & 75% deaf in the other, she uses a hearing aid, but she has a speech defect & you may not be able to understand here. The assignments are EXTRA WACK! The whole class is based on CIVILIZATION, for the most part!

She's definitely different! I was totally confused in the beginning of this class, but I finally saw her vision of things. She creates civilizations within the class and you are expected to participate because it counts as 15 percent of your grade. I felt I was going to bomb out and make a "F" but ended up making a "B". Prepare to work!
If you want to learn a life long lesson, take teachers like her. They are teachers for life.
Difficult to understand what she wants from her students as there is little guideline prior to getting a grade. One plus, she allows students to revise a previous grade of ZERO on assignments. Be forewarned - Be prepared to spend MANY Many hours on her homework. If I knew about her prior to class, I would not have taken her.
AMAZING teacher. She can be a little confusing but she is really helpful. There is a lot of work and if you want a class where you don't have to try, then don't take her. If you're actually wanting to learn something..she's great.
I TOOK HER ONLINE COURSE AND SHE GIVES OUT A LOT OF WORK. YOU MUST INTERACT WITH YOUR CLASSMATES AT LEAST 3-5 TIMES THROUGH THE BLACKBOARD DISCUSSION BOARD OR ELSE SHE'LL DEDUCT POINTS. Great professor. EVERYTHING is laid out in the syllibus read it regularily. There is a lot of work, and drops the four lowest assignments. Assignments make you think, this is a college class! I got an A, but I worked for it
She is very hard but the assignments are prepare you for future college writing. I received an A in her class but it wasn't easy. Take her if you want to get better at writing.
Professor Schweitzer's thorough lectures, genuine interest and thoughtful coursework are incomparable. She is a realistic, caring, and dedicated professor who challenges and provokes thought in her students. I only wish that I would have had the pleasure of experiencing this course in a classroom environment.

She is not simple but she is do-able I received a B in her class it was online lots of work but it is not to hard. The quiz's are simple and the final exam is Super Easy.
Corie is a wonderfu teacher. However, you must apply yourself in her class;I took online class. I will say my writing skills have improved exponentially because of her teaching style. Lastly, she cares about her students. The class is easy, once you get the hang of it. Read the chapters,do the assignments, participate, take notes on audios.
She has a very different approach, but once you get a feel for it, it works. She genuinely cares about her students as well. I'm not sure how anybody could have anything bad to say about her or her class.
I like reading and British lit. but hated this class. Her directions are unclear. She does not respond to emails (and I took this as an online class). She takes forever to grade things, like 6 weeks ++. I spent more time on this class then all my other 4 combined. Every weekend you turn in pages of answered questions plus sometimes more.
Professor will take forever to answer your questions or issues.. It takes her longer to grade a paper!! Class could be easy but would be better if she responds to student's concerns.
Very delayed on responses through email. She suggests in her Syllabus that she is available to chat through AIM or Skype and I have never been able to get ahold of her on either. I've emailed 4 times and not a response on any of them. She had the wrong deadlines entered in the computer system so some papers didn't get turned in on time.
Very difficult class, lots of papers due each week and alot of reading.This will def take up all of your time and I would only recommend this to experianced students who like to write. All of my grades were NOT posted at the end of the semester.
I took her online course, She treats the class as a game which is very hard to do the weekly group activity considering its online. I emailed her and she never got back to me. Essay and writing assignments all the time.
I have no idea what everyone else is talking about. I received email responses in 24 hours, grades in a week. You need to pay attention and THINK, you must participate, but, if you want to learn, you will do well in this class. Not for anyone looking for an easy out, but a WHOLE lot of fun.
Though I got a "B" in this class I was not satisfied. Grades for major essays are just given, no explanation for grade. Teacher stopped communicating with class just over half way in. This was an online class and she literally stopped grading, communicating and responding to emails and forum posts from entire online class. Glad it's over!!!
Horrible. Stay Away. Save your money. Requested feedback was not addressed for days, late in returning grades so you never know your true grade. Her lectures are not very clear. Even though this is an online class you will have a group project assignment due EVERY week for the entire class. Numerous reading assignments due weekly. Stay AWAY.
Alot of work! Took as summer course, several writing projects each week. Very overwhelming, if you enjoy writing take, not good if full time student and work. Did rec a B, but this class really stressed me out.
