Her quizzes and test are really difficult. She is a great teacher and is very passionate about what she does. She will work with students before a test. You have to really do a lot of reading and studying in this class. This is not an easy class. She gives quizzes every 2 weeks. Be prepared to spend a lot of time studying!
If you're not really a Bio person but you need the credit, take Dr. Rupert's class. She makes sure everyone understands, and explains things in a very down-to-earth manner. Her easily-understood Middle-America accent helps, too.
Professor Rupert is a great teacher. She is thorough and is very passionate about Biology. Be prepared to study, as she gives quizzes every 2 weeks. Her tests are hard, but she gives review sheets and holds review sessions. She is a fantastic lab teacher ( she makes it really fun!) Overall she is a great teacher.
Extremely nice lady, I needed the class for a gen ed and as long as you pay attention and and attend class you should have no problem getting an A or B...very clear on what will be on test, lab exams very straight forward. Very few homework assignments..all around great teacher.
Excellent, helpful and easy teacher highly recommended!
Professor Rupert is approachable, reasonable, and organized. I hate Biology, but she managed to make it my favorite class this semester. She posts all of the lectures via PowerPoint online, and responds quickly to emails. You can easily get away with not buying the textbook. Great easily class for the scientifically-challeneged like myself.
She's a great teacher. She goes out of her way to make herself available to help those who are struggling, yet she's also great to nerd out with for those who are more science-oriented. Had her for both lecture and lab -- very helpful, explains the material well, and wants you to succeed. I definitely recommend her.
Prof. Corinna is amazing! She made the class easy to understand. She's very approachable and offers study sessions before exams. You will seldom need the textbook as her notes are enough. Be careful though-sometimes the tests will seem to have questions that are unrelated to the material and will require some critical thinking on your part.
This by far was the nicest professor I've had in all my semesters at NOVA. Even though she is new to NOVA she is a great teacher and very helpful. She is willing to stay after class to help whenever needed. I recommend you take her lab as well it makes lecture much more easy and understandable.
Lectures are well prepared an organized. Goes into detail and asks questions on material previously cover to make sure that the class understands. Test are always constant with notes.
I was very apprehensive about the course material prior to starting Anatomy and Physiology-I. Now, I can say that this was one of my favorite classes EVER. I rated Ms. Ruppert's class as EASY, only because she provides you with every tool possible to help you to do well. Her expectations are high, and challenged me to really learn.
She is a great Prof.
Excellent! She's very knowledgable about BIO, comes to class well prepared to teach: focused and fun at the same time. My favorite part were the in class exercises to help us learn better, I never felt awkward asking questions. She's positive & passionate about teaching and wants all her students to succeed. I wish all teachers were like her!
BIO 142 I am a hard working student that loves bio. I got a B. She is a great teacher. Gives extra time and study sessions. Gives study guide. But, also takes from other sources, so you have to study a lot. Gives and Grades homework. Quiz also. Exams hard. Loves pix and diagrams. I recommend her.
Very nice and helpful. Goes into full details over material.
Mrs Rupert is amazing! She responds to emails quick, offers Friday help sessions for her BIO students and her tests are straight from the power points. LOVED this class, would definitely recommend her:)
I loved this teacher. She is so nice and really cares about teaching and biology in general. She does everything she can to help you except actually study for you! If you are willing to do the work you will get an A. GREAT TEACHER!
Professor Rupert is a terrific instructor! You will do well if you review the notes and study before the exam. She is always available to help, is extremely patient and caring, and all-around has been my favorite science professor. Take her class!
She is the best professor ever. When I didn't understand the concepts, she always explained everything in simple words.
Definitely a very hands on professor. She's very clear in her lectures and sets up study groups outside of class throughout the semester. She also gave us extra credit opportunities at the end of the semester. As long as you go to class and study every week, you'll do great!
Take her class! i mean it! there is no better bio 101 teacher at NOVA! she is helpful, energetic, and clear. Her tests are multiple choice and there is no mid term or final! pulls all questions from pp slides. organizes study groups once a week, try to go if you can. Again: TAKE HER!
Professor Rupert is definitely one of the best instructors I've ever had! She is so nice and really helps you understand the concepts. Also, take her as a lab instructor! Do the homework assignments, quizzes and study for the exams and you'll do fine. You have to try not to get an A or B.
She is so awesome I tell you.
Prof. Ruppert is excellent. She goes out of her way to help you in any way possible. She loves what she does, and it shows! She is a very communicator, funny and diplomatic at the same time. I loved her class- also had her for lab. I've enrolled to have her again for BIO 102 _ TAKE HER CLASS!!
amazing! she is very good at what she does. Knows the material extremely well and you will understand the material because she has an amazing way of teaching it. She posts everything on blackboard. Her Final is NOT accumulative and she gives many quizzes through out the semester that makes it easier to study and get a good grade. She is punctual
she is the most helpful and awesome professor at NOVA!!! I loved being in her class even though i don't like Bio. She is simply amazing.
Prof. Rupert is the most most most amazing teacher at nova. no words express her. she is simply amazing and a gift for students who came to nova for a better future. she is not only teaching bio, but also future life too.sweet, kind, easy, and helpful professor at nova. definitely recommend her for everyone.I took bio 142 which is the hardest but A.
She is nice and all but if you're looking to breeze through this class withoutd doing work AKA BS don't try to take bio with her as a prof. Her tests are hard as hell! I feel like her tests aren't concept based, there more like scenarios. The questions aren't obvious AT ALL. You REALLY have to think through each and every word to understand the ?
AWESOME. She tries hard to make you understand the concepts, and to get your attention. Lots of opportunities. She's very funny and dynamic, always provides you with power point slides, tests reviews , quizzes. Extra help during office hours and study sessions before every exam. No comprehensive final…. she made me love BIO. TAKE HER!!!!!!
Prof. Rupert is AMAZING!! She is easy going, laid back and very nice. She explains things well and breaks down EVERYTHING for you, so you understand biology. She also has review sessions and reviews everything that the test will be on. You do need to study but she is a great teacher!!!! LOVED her!!!!
Professor Rupert is the best professor I've had so far. She is caring, knowledgable and humble. She goes above and beyond to support the students with help sessions, study guides, office hours, extra credit, etc. BIO is not an easy subject so you gotta work hard, but she will make it as pleasant as possible. I highly recommend her.
Honestly, she is a difficult professor for Bio 142. Her exams are multiple choice. She only offers a few extra credit points for the exams, nothing else! Exam questions are worded in unfamiliar terms not used in class discussion. Lecture is a bit confusing and unorganized skipping over a lot of material. If you can self teach she is great for you
As a NOVA graduate, and after going through great and horrible profs, believe me. She is a great professor and person. Very kind and patient. Biology is not an easy subject. However, she will help if you have problems. Do your best, and you will be fine.
She is one of the best professors I've ever had! Biology is not easy, but the way she explains it, it's really logical and easy to understand. If you put in effort, go to class, and most importantly DO THE STUDY GUIDES, you'll do well!
This class is difficult. You have to put time and dedication in order to get a good grade. Prof. Rupert is a great person and knows what she's talking about although, some of lectures were sometimes unorganized and we she sped through them she always answered our questions throughly. She is a good prof.
A great bio teacher. She does have a tendency to talk fast, but the stuff she is talking about is in the PP posted on BB. Print those out before class and you'll be fine with just taking some extra notes. I never did the study guides and did well on every exam. You need to keep up with the material to do well. Tests are fair, HW a little excessive
Professor Rupert is SO fun. She is very nice and super approachable. She made all of the students feel very comfortable in her class. I also took her lab and for BIO 102 lecturelab, and she was great. She makes it fun and easy to learn the material. And she is super funny! MUST TAKE HER CLASS!
By far the best Bio101 professor in NVCC. If you need to take Bio101, she's your girl.
All homework is considered extra credit. Test consist of multiple choice questions and 1 or 2 short answer questions. She gives you the short answer questions to study at home before the test. Also provides a study session before every test. Very easy going and understanding. Her classes are fun, and she really cares for her students success.
Professor Rupert, is the best Bio lab professor I've had and I've taken Bio lab twice before her because I am HORRIBLE at lab. As long as you show up and work with people who do their work the class will be easy. She also will answer any question you have and sit there until you understand the information. She's awesome!
Prof. Rupert was awesome for my first semester back in college. I was fortunate to take her Honors section in Bio 101 and couldn't be happier. I got an "A", but it came at the cost of a lot of studying in preparation. Take her!
I took her Honors course, but the curriculum is quite similar to the regular 101 classes. She's absolutely amazing, I HIGHLY recommend. She goes above and beyond for her students, by providing help sessions and answering all your questions in a way for you to understand the material more clearly. No amt of characters can describe how awesome she is
Professor Rupert was an amazing educator. She offered flexible office hour and was understanding when it came to late assignments. She offered specific Friday study sessions for those that needed extra help. She even came on some Thursday's for those who had schedule conflicts on Friday's. She posted the needed materials on Blackboard that helped.
l loved professor Ruppert so much! I took her 8am Bio 101 and Bio 101 Lab and she was a blast, I looked foreword to coming to class even though it was so early. She is smart and so helpful, positive attitude and totally worth it. I recommended taking her for lab and lecture, they go hand in hand.
This is my second semester with Prof. Rupert in an honors course (Bio 101 was taken last semester; 102 this Spring) She's extremely clear, assignments make you think, tests reflect her lectures and presentations, gives chances for extra credit. I would highly suggest her. One of my favorite professors.
She gives a lot of work, but it's really not worth that much so it doesn't make a difference on your grade. She skips around for the lecture and you're expected to cover what she skips. The test are basically impossible to get an A. She also gives 10 minutes quizzes every week that are not related to the topic she is teaching. Easy F
Pretty sure every single class was a lecture (few times had videos). She's a great professor that goes over everything many times and makes sure that EVERYONE in the class understands. Speak up and she'll help. Go to class, take notes and study power points also and you'll get an A.
She is very dedicated when teaching Biology, she has 4 tests, 8 quizzes and a couple homework assignments, but make sure you follow the due dates. She also has study sessions every other Friday, so if you are struggling, I recommend you go to them. You need to do well on the tests to get a good grade for the course.
4 Important Tests, 8 Quizzes, easy Homework assignments, Extra Credit, Final is not cumulative. By far the best Bio professor i've ever had and I had an 8am. Energetic, crystal clear in explanations and dedicated to making sure everyone understands the material. Holds study sessions on Fridays.
Prof. Rupert is great. I took her 8 am class but oh it was so worth it. She is clear and inspiring. She gives help sessions on Fridays. She has a fun style and everybody enjoyed her class.
Amazing Professor, She knows exactly what she talks about and is very clear during lectures. I love her, and I have recommended her to every person who has to take Bio.
Really good prof. Knows her subject and is very good at answering questions and teaching the material. 4 large tests (no final/midterm) that covered multiple chapters. You have to study for them, but she also does help sessions outside of class before the test. Some smaller assignments that aren't worth as many points. I would definitely take her.
She's great!! Take her & thank me later! There's about 8-10 quizzes, 5-6 hw's and 4 exams. You don't even need the big book, which is expensive btw. Her lecture powerpoints are very clear, & it does actually help when you study for a test. But 2 days studying prior to test just won't cut it to get a B, science has always been my weakness btw.
She is the best science teacher that I've ever had in my life! Take her class! She basically teaches you everything you need to know for the test, in class, so you don't have to ever read the textbook. She's super kind, generous, and patient. She is always willing to explain something confusing over again and breaks down complex science vocab too.
Great professor. I suck at science, and got an A in her class. She is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. Never used the textbook. She holds study sessions on Friday to explain any topic that you are struggling with. If you are a good student you will pass her class no problem.
I took Professor Rupert's 5 week class and got a B. She really knows what she's talking about and actually cares about her students. She has good communication and is clear in her assignments. Most science teachers don't know how to explain concepts but she is truly an expert.
Took Professor Rupert for BIO 101 lecture + lab & she is not only very knowledgeable & helpful, but you can tell she really loves science. Posts all lecture PowerPoints + test reviews on BlackBoard & very accessible outside of class (email & in person). Friday help sessions the week before tests. Lectures/labs were engaging & helpful.
Just take this Professor, she is one my absolute favorite professors at NOVA. Bio 101 is a lot of material but she breaks it down and is very clear. you will not regret it TAKE HER!
Best professor at Nova. I graduated from VCU, and have had many esteemed professors- she's easily in the top 3 that I've ever had. I work with ER doctors and she could be one. She's a natural teacher. Go to class, read your book before if you need, and just try hard. You will be better for it, as well as more prepared for your profession. Have fun!
I'm just gonna tell y'all... TAKE HER. Not only will she want you to succeed and earn a good grade, you will really learn the tough material presented. You can thank me later.
One of the best professor one can ever have! she is very professional, knowledgeable and caring. She will spend 2 hours extra every week with those who needs extra help. Always available, great lectures! if pay attention in class you just need a basic review for tests give a lot of extra credit opportunities. can't express my respect enough for her
She has 4 exams (multiple choice), online quizzes and homework on chapters that are difficult. You need to prepare yourself for the exams as they are challenging. She has Friday sessions which were my favorite because she would review everything we needed to know for exams (homework sometimes) Don't miss her lectures as you need to earn your grade.
This is the best Biology Professor in the universe! She is very friendly and caring towards everyone. She truly cares about your grade and your performance. She helps everyone to understand what the best way is for studying. She makes the material understandable for everyone. This teacher saved my life!!!!!!
I'm not really good at science and was kind of nervous of taking this class but Professor Rupert really was one of my best teachers. She was really caring and kind and showed her students she cared. 100% would take again.
Took her class over the summer. She wants you to succeed and is available outside of class if you have any questions. Would take her class again.
Prof Rupert is my favorite prof at nova. She makes the material easy to understand and has Friday study sessions during hard course material and before tests. You will have to take a quick quiz every week and you will have a homework assignment every few weeks (6-8 total) and 4 50 q tests. You will do well if you show up and put in minimal effort.
Best Bio professor at Nova, really cares about her students. Take her if you're uncomfortable with biology, she has study sessions most Fridays if you feel like you need extra help!
Most demanding Biology teacher ever. Do not take her unless you are a Bio major . Power points are so long , tests are very hard .
This was my first time taking a class at NOVA, and first time getting an A in a science class. Professor Rupert was great. She tries to help as much as she can and is really lenient. Overall shes a great professor and I would definitely recommend!
Prof. Rupert was super kind and went over difficult things many times for us to actually learn!! (Ahem* cell respiration.) I felt that she gave me a super solid foundation for the other Bio courses I took. Comparing my knowledge of basic biology to other people in my class, I am well prepped. She is great!!!
Take her class if you want to learn and pass. She has amazing lectures that could be heavy at times, but overall she tries very hard to keep you engaged. She has 4 multiple choice tests, 1 test had a written portion which she curveds10 points from. Her labs are pretty slight as long as you do them you will be fine. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
She is a great professor, very understanding. She offers extra credit and tries to make sure everyone does well. Also gave study sessions if you need more help and records her lessons in care if you miss them or need to rewatch. Great Great, totally recommended.
to make a long story short do not miss the opportunity to have this professor as your teacher! if you have questions she'll answer them and if you don't understand a topic don't worry because she offers extra study sessions. You won't even need your textbook as she creates very easy-to-follow powerpoints. I will be taking her again in bio 102.
Very sweet and caring professor, by far one of the best professors I've had at nova. The workload is a fair amount for the course, and she goes over everything. You wont regret taking her!
Im here again to post about this wonderful teacher. Took her bio 101 class, passed very easily. Took bio 102 same thing. Amazing professor like I said, super nice, understanding and overall wants everyone to pass. Shes a very generous grader as long as you understand key points. Trust me when I say there is no other teacher better than her :))
took during an 6 week summer course. very fast paced, but she wants all students to succeed! I hate science, very bad at it. she explained the concepts clearly and multiple times/ways if needed. the optional friday sessions were a good way to get one-on-one help. did not need txtbk, even tho it was "required".
best biology professor ever
Professor Rupert is an amazing professor!!! She is very understanding and works with students. She does give a lot of homework and her exams and quizzes can be hard, but she wants her students to do well. She is available when you need her. She responds to emails quickly. TAKE her!! If you study and do your part, you will do fine!
She is really nice and understand but man she gives so much homework. Test are hard.
Awesome prof! Explains difficult concepts in ways anyone can understand (her "shuttle bus" analogy). Draws concepts on the board. Exams (MC & short answer) are not difficult if you review notes. Posts pre-recorded lectures & short videos explaining topics if you miss a class. Labs were fun and helped reinforce material (only one formal lab report).
Nice teacher but, she is fast paced. The homework load is a ton, especially if you add doing the study guide, have fun it will take you days. This class will have you stressed if you take 12 credits or more. The labs were simple, but the test are nothing like the quizzes, so even if you do well on the quizzes, study 2 times more, they're hard.
favorite professor at NOVA so far!! she is very caring & wants everyone to succeed! always helped answer any questions i had, offered extra study sessions, & gave extra credit on tests. if you study well for the tests, you should have no issue getting an A. tests are not cumulative and lab was easy. decently light homework load and 4 tests. 10/10!
Professor Rupert is one of the best professors! She really cares and will help! Attend her Friday sessions, even if you are feeling decent about the topic, the more you attend them the easier you'll know what to expect on the exams. Watch her pre-recorded lectures before class, complete the study guide throughout the chapters and you will do well!
An amazing professor and easily one of the best I've taken at NOVA, the class isn't easy but even the parts I thought would be boring ended up being enjoyable. Attendance isn't graded or mandatory but she explains things really well and skipping will just make passing 10x harder.
Prof. Rupert is a gem, she loves what she does. Great energy, sense of humor, easy analogies, fun labs, organized syllabus with tons of short videos explaining concepts, quizzes for practice, study guides for all chapters, weekly study sessions to answer questions. This is not an easy A class, but she will give you the tools you need to succeed.
Amazing! I've always done very badly in biology classes but you can tell Professor Rupert is passionate about the class and it makes grasping information 10x easier! She was incredible at explaining topics, her energy made an 8 am class extremely delightful. Offers extra credit throughout the semester and provides videos further explaining topics.
Easily my favorite professor I've ever had. She's so enthusiastic about her field of study that it is as easy as breathing to feel that same excitement. Accommodates for students and once gave my class five points to our exam grade just because! Holds Friday study sessions without fail and has equal care for each of her students. Please take her!
Professor Rupert is amazing!! I took both of her BIO 101 and BIO 102. She is extremely knowledgeable, engaging, and grades fairly. Her tests were easy to study for, and she made difficult biology concepts digestible for us students. She also made sure to go over trickier material so that everyone understood.
Who gave her less than 5 stars. You are spoiled. In this biology department there are bunch of professors who think are not deserved to teach in the community collage. And she loves and cares for the students and has belief in the value in the cc. I would take all of her classes if she has other than the basics. WORSHIP HER!
Super nice, very interactive
Professor Rupert is an enthusiastic and caring instructor. She makes biology engaging with her fun analogies and extra study sessions. While the workload can be intense, using tools like Unstuck ai can help manage the material. With dedication, this class is very rewarding.
She is amazing. I have never met a teacher in the science department that is this passionate about their field of study. She explains things well during lecture and makes the hardest concepts easier to understand. She's kind and understanding, unlike other teachers she is willing and will gladly help you if you are struggling on a certain topic.
Professor Rupert was a good professor but I disliked how tests were majority of the grade. She is fair with grading and is ready to explain anything that needs clarification.
Take her for bio! She is passionate about the topics and is enthusiastic while lecturing. The class itself is very test heavy, which isn't in her control. The homework's she assigns are practical for the course rather than just busy-work. She is accessible outside of class and is willing to provide help. As a person, she is pleasant to be around.
She is the best professor I have had so far! All the material is explained with simple words and in a really understandable way. I need to take more biology classes, and I really wish she would teach them. I would sign up only for her classes.
I don't recommend Professor Corinna Rupert. She talks too fast, which makes it hard to follow, especially for students who speak English as a second language. Her tests are very difficult and don't match the homework or class material. She doesn't explain clearly and seems to lack patience. I struggled a lot even though I studied hard.
TAKE HER! I took her 6 week summer class… best decision ever. I was so surprised I got an A in her class because I truly didn't study as much as I should have. Everyone giving low reviews are spoiled! She is one of the best BIO profs at NOVA. She is funny, kind, and well spoken! SHE IS A GEM! Lots of work but it helps with understanding the topics.
Professor Rupert is highly regarded by her students many of whom are Physicians looking to practice in the United States and her classes offer unique perspectives on the Krebs Cycle, Genetic testing for Forensic Lab work, CRISPR CAS 9 for a career in Biotechnology, and of Course Lab Skills that also translate to the Bio Cyber Field that is popular.
Answers any questions. Patient. Nice. Helpful. Best teacher ever
Best professor I have ever had. She made Bio 101 so much easier. Great at lecturing and labs were interesting. Very caring, supportive, and made sure all her students understood the material. Take the class!!!!
Professor Rupert is very personable and passionate about what she teaches. I'm not good at science or math whatsoever, so i expected to fail but I passed. You have to study.because tests basically make up your grade. She puts her own videos based on the lectures up on Canvas which were helpful. Labs were really fun with her too. Take her!
One of the best professors I've had. Truly cares for her students, makes sure you understand the concept being taught, and gives great grading feedback. I took her Honors class and thought it was going to be very difficult but she made it feel less stressful, explained the concepts well and was overall an amazing class.I recommend taking her class!
I struggled in this class. The amount of content you are expected to learn is insane/ hard to manage. Your grade in this class is determined on 3 test grades, so if you don't do well on the tests you won't do well overall. Rupert is a great professor and is passionate about BIO the struggle is more with the grading scale / pace this class moves at.
