Such a hard grader. She will take off points for the smallest errors. If you miss class, you wont pass. All of the quizzes are not on quizlet and its hard to find the answers in the book. Must take extensive notes to pass quizzes. Overall, stressful class for no reason.
Taking this class with Doss was the worse decision I've ever made. I made a C when I was one of the most participating students in her lecture heavy class. Such a tough grader, boring lectures, tough weekly quizzes and assignments. If you put in the work its still not enough, its like she wants you to make her class priority when its generally not.
Easy class. Professor is understanding and responds great to emails.
She puts the entire class on the content so you can advance if you want to. Do not miss deadlines. I did feel she graded kind of tough for being an art class. I took this class to complete my electives. It was nice to take this class as i learned things about the film industry that i wasn't aware of.
10 units, each with a discussion and a quiz. A 5 slide power point and a film critique. The easiest class hands down! especially in a 3 week mini!
pretty nice teacher, and will help if you need it.
I took this class over a minimester. It was not a blow off class. She had quite a few assignments, quizzes, and a film critique and a power point. The movies we had to watch were boring but I guess essential for the class. It was easy but required plenty work.
I took professor Doss as a mini-mester class and that is why there was so much homework. She is a solid professor and is accessible through email easily. Good professor that grades fairly too. Good choice for a summer or mini-mester class.
I took this course during the winter mini-mester and despite all the reading from the book in order to complete assignments and quizes for each chapter (9) this course was not difficult, just had to do the work. Response time was less than a day, sometimes immediately. Quizes and assignments due weekly on Saturday
Mostly just book work and quizzes (like 20-22) questions. Easy A, all you have to do is make sure that you finish the assignments and do good on the quizzes. Also make sure that you have the text book for the homework and discussion post.
Good professor. Just do all of the assignments and you will not have a hard time, however, when answering assignment questions, definitely go into detail. She counts it against you if all you do is answer the question asked. She wants details, but does not ask for them.
One of the best classes i've ever taken. Professor Doss is clear about what she expects, is timely in getting back to you and the assignments are cut and dry. Love the movies assigned to watch and review. The book is cheap to buy online as well!
Good teacher, provide great feedback. You gonna use the book a lot, for the quizzes and papers.
She's a good professor easy mini mester but you do have to put in effort and be elaborate in assignments but that's the purpose.
Took here for a minimester and I feel like she grades a bit too hard and there is a lot of work she assigns but overall she is very clear on what she want and I would take her again.
Easy class, just be prepared to read and watch movies. Most movies were really enjoyable. She is not a very tough grader but wants some detail.
Took film appreciation online during a Minimester, Easy class if you put in the time for the work but nothing too major. Online Textbook is mandatory but search features help a ton. Extra credit is offered and syllabus is 100% accurate. Most of the quizzes not on Quizlet but they are scattered throughout the internet so that was fun...
I took a four week course and it was a lot of material in a short amount of time. Professor Doss was understanding of the Holiday schedule and short semester so she did allow one major project to be submitted late. Overall this class was very interesting and I would take it again.
very well learning experience, very easy class, make sure your group peers help with the group project before the due date, very understanding teacher as long as you let her know whats going on before any due dates.
She is overall a great professor. Do not take this class in the mindset of it being easy. She expects you to work hard for your grade. Which is understandable. The quizzes are definitely difficult, you have to REALLY read the textbook to find the answers.
Do not expect to fly by in this class. Professor Doss is a great professor but you should expect to put in the hard work. At the beginning of this course, I thought that it would be a lot harder to finish strong but near the end, she gave many chances for the entire class to succeed.
Overall professor Doss is a decent professor. Show up to class everyday and it won't be a bad class but definitely boring. Quizzes are definitely difficult but every day is manly lectures. She definitely enjoys theatre and the art that comes behind it.
She is an excellent teacher and helpful, and her class is fun and not boring. Passing in this class is easy. Only, complete the assignments and quizzes and attend the class. Overall, she's really nice and its easy class
Shes such a nice person. Not a 100% great professor but Ive definitely learned a lot and Ive had a great time. I look forward to this class every week!
Very well outlined class. Almost everything is accessible months in advance so you have a chance to get ahead on your work. Procrastination will make you get a not so great grade in the class since it is online you have to keep up with the due dates so I recommend you check D2L at least once a day. Optional Extra credit which is great!
Professor Doss is a very nice and understandable. She is very organized with her work, and is easy to understand. Very clear. I took her online class and the assignments were clear and interesting. Pay attention to due dates they are very important.
This was an online class so we never met but she was attentive and responsive to questions. She also got the grades up quickly which is rare
Class is super easy. everything is done online. Class consist of a weekly quiz, and a chapter assignment which is 3 questions. Book is needed but can be bought as an ebook for $20 bucks. One film critique essay, 5 films to watch and post a discussion and 2 projects one individual and one group project. Take this class, easy A!
Good teacher , easy A , quizzes are a little hard wish she was more chill with due dates
The class was a very interesting class. Even though it was online, I pretty much enjoyed it. I wish she would have been more chill about deadlines and also with group projects due to the fact that the class is online.
Professor Doss cares about her students. I had trouble with an assignment and ended up missing the deadline and she contacted me and made sure i understood the material so i could succeed next time.
I took the May Minimester so the course was quite accelerated. This meant a fair bit of work every week: a major project, 3 200+ word essays, 3 quizzes, watching 1 play, Discussing that play, and one more discussion. I did not know the scope of the work that would need to be done, but it ended up alright. Professor Doss was fair throughout.
Mrs. Doss is a great teacher. Her class is fairly easy as long as you keep up with your work. I took it online and worked ahead most of the semester which made it even easier to balance my other classes. Go with this professor!
She is pretty much an esay A as long as you do the work. Although her directions aren't very clear espically for our film crituque she just linked a highschool teacher's website. She doesn't take late work at all, And sometimes she takes a while to grade things. Like I said though easy A, just do the work.
Professor Doss is very organized and posts everything all at once if you want to finish stuff early. the only thing that you should keep up with is the due dates because they vary and you'll be fine as far as you do the work on time.
Professor did not clearly explain assignment outlines. Professor did not communicate through student email, and only through workspace email, so no notifications of emails. Professor had assignments due during thanksgiving break. No wiggle room, someone in my family passed and professor didn't give an extension despite proof I was attending funeral
Do the work and you will pass. I had a hard time (personal problems) and she was very sympathetic. Keep her updated. My grade was lower because I couldn't get the work turned in. She lays out her expectations from day 1.
I took this class as an 8 week online for my art credit and it was by far the easiest class I have taken. You have an assignment and quiz for each chapter of the book. The class is set up to work on your own pace but always be aware of deadlines. One group project and 5 film reviews. Easy A.
This class is pretty easy, you just need to read the textbook and watch the assigned movies. Even though I took this course online participation matters and you need to reply to the discussion post because they are part of your grade.
Teacher was nice but gives lots of work, discussions every wek quiz every week, movies almost every week
8 week. pretty easy overall. lots of work but it's manageable. prof. is super organized. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE THE GROUP PROJECT! yes, it's online & it's a group project. it was easily the worst part of this class. textbook is vital and it's pretty fun to read. i got an online version for $20. she also grades pretty fast. some films are on youtube.
Professor Doss was awesome! Super helpful whenever I had issues. Be prepared for lots of group participation though.
Taken online for Spring 2020 semester. Easy art credit. Follow the syllabus and the class would be an easy A. Deadlines are reasonable and can get ahead on written assignments and quizzes. Discussions due every week based on short interesting film videos. Highly recommend.
Professor Doss makes the class very easy with her organization of different assignments. Reasonable due dates with a discussion every week over an insightful video. I would recommend her for anyone looking to get an art credit!
Just complete all the work and you'll be fine.
Professor Doss, overall was your typical professor. you have quizzes, small group assignments, that are due every Thursday at 11:30, 4 movie reviews, and 1 big group assignment. She puts in grades in a decent manner although there were many grading errors on assignments throughout the semester, the class was not hard.
Turn in all your work and youll get a high grade.
she gives a bit amount of homework but its not impossible to stay on top of. I had 4 other classes while taking this one and it was still an easy A
Professor Doss is an amazing professor and makes the work understandable. She sends out reminder emails of when things are due and responds to emails quickly. I took her during an 8-week online semester and there are weekly assignments and quizzes that come right from the book. She also gives extra credit to help your grade if needed.
THANK YOU PROF.
Great teacher
Do not expect to fly by in this class. Instead, appreciate it for what it is and how interesting Professor Doss makes it. At first, I wasn't too sure about the films we had to watch minus a few but quickly realized how much more I'm able to appreciate cinema after having watched the films and analyzed them. A must-take course.
One of the easiest classes, just make sure you stay on top. Reading, discussion boards, projects, and test are very easy.
Professor Doss is a nice individual, but being new and only part-time to teaching, she is difficult to reach given it is an online course so email should be relatively easy to reach her by yet it takes forever to receive a response. She will dock YOU on points for group projects if your groupmates don't respond/or participate, so be wary.
Very easy and interesting class! Just be sure to stay on top of all the quizzes, discussion boards, chapter assignments, etc. (which are all really easy).
She is a fair teacher. Pay attention to your assignments and due dates and you will be fine.
The professors fine, you don't need the textbook since the teacher gives all the info in powerpoints. nothing really special just an online credit if you need it
Class was a 16 week course put into 5 weeks so it was tough, if it was a normal class it probably would have been better.
The course is pretty straight forward and I learned a lot!
Good instructor, will have everything explained and laid out for you, but you will have to do a lot of work.
Need to watch 5 movies, I only enjoy 1 of them. Have 3 chances for extra credits.
Professor Doss provides students with the ability to achieve a great grade as long as they are willing to complete the work. The assignments are not difficult, but given the nature of the class they can be time consuming. I was able to efficiently handle the work load during the shortened late start course (delayed due to Covid-19) without an issue
I took her for an 8 week class and received an A. She gives out extra credit.
Ms. Doss was a solid choice when choosing this course, I recommend her 9/10. Although her class is not easy you will get what you work for. If you have a question about a task or an assignment ask 2 weeks in advance if possible so you are aware of her late responses. Other than that she's great.
Was really good.
She's a great teacher but be ready to read a lot.
Great overall professor! If you do everything that is asked of you regarding assignments, quizzes, projects, discussions, and etc. Then you will have a great semester and most likely a great grade as well!
Prof Doss is passionate towards this course. She is very organized and follows the syllabus. Her grading is simple to understand and she does not accept any late work so make sure you are on top of your stuff I would recommend prof Doss to anybody who needs to take this course.
Class is great for your creative arts credit or whatever you're taking it for. Easy grading criteria, you have all due dates/info at beginning of semester. She sends out auto reminders days before any due date and keeps a weekly checklist making it super easy to know when things are due. There is a group project and several weekly discussions
Excellent instructor and class structure in D2L (online). Reasonable assignment load. Quick to grade and quick to respond to questions and corrections in the class. Fun group project with excellent instruction. Neat films to watch; analysis is demanding. Great textbook. Learned a great deal, recommended to take for art credit!
POS: straight forward syllabus, you can work ahead. Home work is not complicated. Grades stuff fast so you have a good idea of what you are making . NEG: Heavy on group work. A major group project, whole class group discussions, small group discussions, you have to answer to the discussions. Some of your grade depends on your group members.
I took a six weeks online session. It consisted of a quiz and a Q & A assignment per chapter, a movie review DB and a group DB per week, and a PP project, a film critique assignment, an exam, and a group project per semester. If you take an online course, group assignments will be the bottleneck, so have close contact with your group members.
I had a great time in this class! The group project was really fun to work on and the quizzes and homework assignments are pretty straightforward if you read the chapter. There are group discussions every week! However, she is kind of a tough grader! Good luck y'all! I'd take her class again. So far my grade looks like it'll be an A!
Professor Doss is a very good choice for film appreciation. There is a discussion post every week where you have to discuss a topic in a video that we watched. Some very quick quizzes that are pretty easy as long as you read the provided material or textbook. There is a group project and a final exam. Pretty straight forward class.
I took this course to receive credit and because I have a passion for film. If you do as well I highly recommend taking this class. Easy assignments while also learning important aspects of the film industry. The professor followed the syllabus all semester so I had plenty of time to complete my assignments.
The class was really simple and informative! Only make sure you keep on top of all the quizzes, discussion forums, assignments, etc (which are all really easy).
She was amazing, even though she did not have to she followed up with me, sent me emails to make sure I stayed on track. Gave opportunity at the end of the semester to take any quizzes we missed and gave extra credit.
Professor Doss is a great teacher! She's really good at responding back in a timely manner. The assignments are also fairly easy, The best part is the assignments that you have to watch movies with!
I failed the first time due to my job and COVID, took it again, again job, COVID, kids, just life, made it hard for me to keep up to where I will barely pass this class. It is definitely a lot of work between having 3 other classes and dealing with life but if you manage your time well, and participate in everything it can definitely be an easy A!
I had a good experience taking this class. There were lots of homework but not too difficult.
I took this class online and I enjoyed it. She makes the assignments very clear and understandable, but do not wait at the last minute to work on the group projects. It's recommended to work on them as soon as possible. She encourages students to work together and help each other, which can be hard online. She's very caring, and I'd take this again
Great teacher, she responds to emails quite quickly and even checks up on you when you dont log onto d2l in a while. She really seems like she cares for you. Theres small group where you get to input your opinions and theres a test every week, but it is open ended, so its rather easy.
I hate online classes but this teacher makes this class flow easy and gives critique when needed
Ms. Doss is a fine professor her class is pretty easy just do the group post, short answer and quizzes. You are required to watch the movies she will have listed and write a paper on one of them overall take her if need the credit
Class is really easy. Watch movies and discuss 1-3 questions about them, lots of discussions-easy, answer two questions for each of 10 chapters-assignments, 1 group project, quiz/tests on each chapters, and a final. Overall, class is really easy, educating, and fun.
Solid professor overall, responds to emails and is very generous with grading
Professor Doss is a decent professor. I took this class as a winter mini-mester, and it is a lot of work to do in 3 weeks. The week of Christmas break she had a group project due, and the groups were pre-selected. I could not get in touch with my group members and all professor Doss could say is "try to get in touch with them again".
great class , easy but tons of assignments
I enjoyed this class much more than I thought that I would. The professor gets back to you in a timely manner and gives good feedback.
Took winter mini semester for this class. Pretty easy overall besides work are very tight. But its a three weeks class so yeah, if you take her 8wks or regular I think it would be very easy for you.
Took three week mini, assignments were tight for mini but were very easy. And Professor Corinne had cleared grading criteria so you know when exactly all your assignments are due.
Highly recommended Professor
I took this course online and it was great! however there is lots of group discussion which is fun and manageable, but also a group project. The book is technically required for the course but I got by without it. This was a fun and easy course.
This professor does not communicate very well on grading. There was never any feedback listed when grading. If a score is less than an A there should be clear concise feedback given as to why. This is a fun course and it was also very interesting. Overall I would recommend Doss and this class
Doss takes a while to return your emails, and the due dates are stacked right on top of each other, so if a have a question about a project that's due the next day chances are she won't responed in time. Multiple assignments due on the same day, pretty much everyday. She'll give you credit even if you don't work on the group assignment though!
Professor Doss is knowledgeable and professional in her teaching instruction. Her feedback is very encouraging and motivating me in any assignment. It was a great learning experience.
She is a really good professor. I took a three week course, and it was alot if work. She doesn't accept late work, and doesn't take any excuses. Make sure that you look at the syllabus and the instructions for the work, and email her about questions as soon as you can, cause she does take her time to email back and grade assignments.
Professor Doss was wonderful! The class was fun and interesting. The syllabus was clear and informative. Would definitely recommend this class!
I would not recommend Professor Doss. She was not easy to communicate with and graded unfairly. I would submit assignments a day early, since I have other class work too. She would take a whole letter grade off for not responding to a single classmate. The classmate would do the assignment 10 minutes before it was due. I felt it was unfair.
Doss takes days to answer any questions, and you have to ask through 2dl. She is not understanding if your group members do not participate, and she doesn't care if someone responds to a discussion and you didn't have time to respond. She will take points off! There will be members that won't participate so you have to do the majority of the work.
greatttttttt professor
I took this class as a 3 week minimester & Professor Doss definitely did not make it easy. LOTS of discussions & if you don't reply back to even one person, she knocks off a whole letter grade. She didn't give the textbook info until first day which made first assignments extremely difficult, then grades them unfairly. Very nice, just frustrating.
Great professor and she is a tough grader but she gives you the grading criteria to be aware what she is looking for.
Summer 3wk. Required to participate in multiple discussions each week, discussions require responses. If you do not like to put your grade in others hands, don't take this class. Teamwork is important to learn but different levels of maturity and experience (of college students) detract from the intended lesson. Overall, prof was great.
took the 3 week class, good luck! and reply to the other people in discussions please
Do not take this class in a 3 week session if you work. She puts you into groups, but deducts points when you don't respond to 3 people , even though she only put 2 other people in your group. The group project is a nightmare to coordinate. The film choices and resources are completely outdated and demonstrate no diversity.
Although there is a lot of assignments, they are fairly easy and not difficult to get done in a timely manner. There is access to extra credit and she makes sure to send out multiple reminders regarding due dates.
Professor Doss is a great instructor. She is very organized. Be prepared to do lots of discussion boards, make sure to make a post on time, and be mindful of other classmates. This class is easy if you put in the time and work, don't think that you can do everything at the last minute.
Her 3 weeks course can be pretty intense if you don't do your work. There is plenty of assignments and discussion boards, where participation is key - but they aren't hard if you do the reading or watch provided videos. One group project and two independent projects plus a final exam. Class requires a total of 6 films.
Overall I didn't enjoy this class. Her grading doesn't make sense since sometimes she would put less than a 100 on the group discussions we would have because I wouldn't respond to all my teammates, but I can't control if the rest of my group always posted late or didn't post at all. Plus her instructions for the group project weren't clear.
ORGANIZED SYLLABUS AND CLEAR ON WHAT'S EXPECTED. HEAVY WORKLOAD BUT IT'S THE SAME EVERY WEEK.
Cool teacher, took her 14 week class. Worst part was her due dates were never at 11:59pm, they were 8:00pm
I personally loved Professor Doss' class, she was very organized and even posted reminders on due dates. Quizzes and discussion posted every week but they are more than manageable, I would take another class she was teaching.
This class is fun, interesting, not hard if you do the work.
If you love to explore the academic, history, and practical side of film this is class is for you. She has everything laid out neatly and has almost all assignments open on day one (for those who want to work ahead). Extra credit opportunities and you get to watch engaging films.
I honestly didnt perform as well as I wanted to but that was because of external factors. This class was great, I learned a lot, just remember your due dates and stay on task you can easily fall behind so make sure you pay attention to the dates. Overall I would take this class again. I took the 12 class.
Make sure you pay attention to due dates.
Simple class, do the work and you'll pass. Just pay attention to deadlines.
Make sure you do the chapter work as well as the the dicussion post. Her class really isnt hard at all, aside from a group project which is also easy if you talk to the people
The class was a typical online one. Decent amount of reading, quizzes every week, and the weekly discussion boards with other students. Everything was easy to follow. Nothing was hard or difficult to understand. In conclusion, this class wasnt a burden.
I took the winter mini semester and this teacher changed the due date for two assignments to 8pm on Christmas. Avoid this teacher at all costs.
Class wasn't bad however I would suggest not taking as a mini-mester because you have just as much work if it was a 8 week course. I took it as a 3 week course and wasn't aware of how much work it would be. It's pretty easy if you are dedicated to getting the work done and then partnered with a great team for the group project. Participation a must
I took this class during the three week mini- mester, I personally thought I would have gotten a perfect A if it were a longer session, but Professor Doss is a really caring professor and will often send reminders about assignments that are due. If you can, I would recommend taking at least an 8 week class.
Not a hard class but stay on top of due dates because there's a lot
Took this class as a mini-mester and it was not bad at all lots of homework to stay on top of. This professor is a definite must if you take this class.
Pay attention to the due dates. She did not double check the dates in D2L against the syllabus and her reminder emails. Some assignments had 2 or 3 different due dates. The group project would be better off as an individual project.
Good class, I took a 3 week semester and I have to you, this was great for the pace it was at. There are group projects so be aware. The teacher is great and very helpful. You need the textbook for the class.
Overall great class, took the winter minimester so expect a lot of work. She graded assignments pretty fast and stayed connected with students, replying to any issues timely. Biggest downside was group grades, as other students submitting late would directly effect your grade. Make sure to get textbook early, you'll need it!
She covers all of the things in the text book well, and the projects are fun!
I thought the deadline was 11:59 for homework, but it was 11:30 for a major grade group assignment. I tried turning it in at 11:34. I emailed her to get her the assignment, regardless of if I got a grade for it. But she never responded to my original email(sent that night), or the follow up email sent later. Poor communication.
The class I took was asynchronous so it may have been a bit different than most. Due to this, I wouldn't say I actually got to know Prof. Doss very well, but from the emails we have exchanged, she is very polite, nonjudgmental and patient.
My class was asynchronous so I didn't really get to know Prof. Doss personally. However, in the emails we exchanged, she was very polite, patient and replied back within a very reasonable time. I advise future students to make note of the time that assignments are due as late work is not accepted and deadlines may be closer than you think.
Instructions for assignment criteria/directions were clear and thorough. Quizes and assignments were not difficult. Very important to keep up with due dates. My only issue was that I had emailed her a question regarding the group project as there were no directions on how to get into contact with the group members. Did not get a response to it...
Very nice Prof. Not a hard class. She does take some time on grading papers. That is the only bad thing I can think of.
She lays out a simple format for the semester and makes it easy to keep up with assignments. She also sends out plenty of reminder emails for those assignments. I have 2 jobs and take care of my siblings, she was kind enough to make note of that. This was my first drama/film class so it was all new to me but it was not too difficult.
I'm not a film junky so that's why I said I wouldn't take it again. Prof is great, Unfortunately I was unlucky and my project members were no-shows, I wish the professor had something prepared just in case something like this happened. Can see some people aren't very motivated in this course though which is shame because the prof is pretty good.
Because this was a a six week class it was a lot of reading and a lot due per week. With that being said she had everything set up and organized which allowed for us as students to learn the best we could. With everything being unlocked so we could work ahead it was easier and less stressful. Great class and great teacher.
Took this class online for a 6 week summer class. Professor Doss set up the whole 6 week class perfect and easy to maneuver online. Also like the group projects she sets up. 10/10 recommend.
Semester started off great, but the professor is hard to reach will take 1-2 days to get a response if you're lucky. She will ding you for turning in a assignment "too late" even though you turn it in 3 hours before its due. Her grading is very tough and grades assignments very late with little to no context to why you got the grade. 1/5 very meh.
1st of BE AWARE she will dock your grade for your ONLINE group members time management. She makes you comment on all your group members post (3 to 4 people) say the discussion is due at 8:30PM and your group member turns in their work at 8:25PM if you do not comment under their post she will dock your grade. Bad communication. No late work accepted
She is good overall. Treat the class like you actually like it and make sure you comment on all 5 classmates not just 4 or you will get a low grade. Also make sure you are citing or you will get in trouble for plagiarism. Overall great teacher, loved two of the movies we had to watch. Could use better topics to talk about sometimes.
She release all the work at the start of the class so you can work at your on pace or ahead. Follow the syllabus and you will do just fine.
This professor needs to update the films they are required to watch for the class--they are boring. Other than that--a great class and professor.
I took professor Doss for film appreciation online. Overall was a pretty easy class just time consuming. Was not a huge fan of group projects (everyone knows how those turn out) but other than that, she makes checklists so you know clearly what/when everything is due every week with clear grading rubrics.
Really nice lady , But the group projects are not ok. The discussion posts are also a nightmare, If your group members dont post anything until 30 minutes before due date. She will dock you.
She was most definitely not a hard teacher and she was very caring. She would always remind you when certain assignments were coming up and it's and easy grader. I would take her again
It's somewhat time consuming due to having to watch all the films and you will have to buy some of them, also right when the assignments are due she will close all of them and it won't even let you read the feedback that other classmates may give you on your discussion post.
The class is very easy as long as you follow the syllabus, and it also gives you enough time to hand in assignments. The bad thing about this class is that you have groups in which you have to comment, and there are times when you have finished and you have to wait for Your classmates do it too, because if you don't, your grade will drop.
An overall review of this class is a great experience. If you love watching movies and consider going into detail about how, when, and why then this class is right for you. The Professor for this class is very kind and respectful towards all her students and gives feed by via email. There is extra credit when needed and simple and clear material.
She will be their in about 2 days to answer your emails she will explains the assignment's and Her class is pretty clean and understandable its good just have to pay attention and be attend to what happens and the assignment also watch out for the group projects they come out at you out of nowhere.
overall, it was an easy-to-follow class. I enjoyed the discussion topics, but the readings of each chapter seemed a bit excessive.
Seems not to give much thought in how she grades work, your assigned a group and if all of your group doesn't post daily work to comment on you lose point, and you'll need to post your work before the due dates cause you will also lose points for that.
Professor doss is a great professor and would recommend her to anyone who is interested in film.
Her feedback could not be as accurate as it should. At least for online classes, it's difficult to make a good impression
Professor Doss's teaching style is fair. She gives sufficient time to do the work and sends plenty of reminders.
Her gradings are not clear and it feels as she doesn't take too many points
There are group projects that you need to do, the only problem is that there is nobody in your group sometimes.
I did like this professor because her weekly assignments and tests were straightforward. A few things I disliked were the group work (no one participated), didn't explain major assignments that well, and was hard to contact (she did mention that at the beginning of the class, but it still made it hard to do the work because I was confused a lot).
I loved the class entirely and enjoyed each assignment to the fullest. However the only thing I would address that I did have a problem with was the timings on when everything was due. Half of the assignments would be due at 11:30 Saturdays but then 8:00 on Wednesday. It's very hard to manage while trying to work 40+ hours a week with other classes
She was very helpful. She responded to emails fairly quickly. Just be ready for a lot of work with the DRAM course.
I enjoyed the class and the professor, the work is very straightforward and self-paced so you can get a lot of work done if you want. the only issue I encountered in this class was the group projects where I only had one of my three classmates to work with. overall very stress-free class in my experience.
Get ready to do unlimited assignments. You also have group projects with other classmates sadly not all of them will respond causing you bad grade.
Steer clear of this professor if possible, this teacher takes at least 2 days to respond to emails, she says you are not accountable for your group members not posting in the group discussions but that is not true and talking to her about it is equivalent to trying to reason with a wall, you must also post 2 days before the due date or lose points.
Took this class for the winter semester. Great class and extra credit opportunities.
Professor Corinne Doss was a fantastic professor and a fair one
The professor is a great responder and wants us to be active in the course with many discussions and replies to posts.
Professor Doss was very helpful every time I reached out via Email and the class is very well organized. Some instructions can be confusing but just email her and you should be okay.the group project is something you should spend lots of time on because you are not able to turn anything in late.overall a very good class I would definitely take again
She is awesome really sweet and seemed really nice through the e-mails she sent me would 100% recommend her to anyone and the class itself is a good class if you are new to film and trying to see if it is for you, I really enjoyed the class and loved the online structure.
In my opinion the professor gives instructions in her own understanding. When done the work, the professor states, "you need to be more clear," after which doing her work with her OWN instructions.
My main complaint is that she waits almost half of the semester to give any feedback about the projects or your grades. Also, a lot of your success is dependent on who your group is.
Great class to take if wanting credit, class was straight forwards and arguably easy was enjoyable to learn about the various aspects of what goes on in the film industry. The only elements in which take toll towards one is the group assignments and projects in which one should contribute in order to get a good grade.
Overall, and easy class, but she does take long to respond to emails, and she takes away points if you submit the assignments on the due date so make sure to submit them a day or two before. She also takes away points if your group members don't participate.
Professor Doss is pretty straight forward. I enjoyed her class! Quizzes after every chapter, make sure that you read. The book is easy to read. Four movies to watch and discussions about it, small group discussions. One group project and a movie critique. Over all a good a class.
Extremely helpful and flexible professor
loved her
My favorite class taken in college so far.
I had difficulty understanding the instructions, but I think it was a good class.
Took for my art credit, not a film person at all but this class was good enough to help me get by.
She is a very nice professor. The directions on group projects and assignments were a bit confusing. She is a very hard grader and does not respond to e-mails quickly. I feel this class would be better if it was an in-person class.
I want other students to know that Mrs Doss is a great teacher who does having you reading and does give out pop quizzes and homework. Also if you email her she does respond but not right away .
she is a good teacher who gives out alot of homework and quizzes and group projects. Shes an amazing teacher who gives great lectures also gives you alot to read.
It was a good class but the deadlines were on weird days like Mondays and Wednesdays. No textbook, fairly easy. But online group projects were not my favorite.
This course I recommend taking if you need an Art Credit! It is straightforward. I took this course for 8 weeks. There is a lot of writing for films but don't let that discourage you to join the class if you watch the films and understand the material it is easy! The professor offers extra credit at the end which is really nice! 10/10
Overall I would say that Prof. Doss is a good teacher. They can be a tough grader and slow to respond to Emails, but the class itself is pretty easy.
Summer class, He was cool. Easy class She respond to emails slowly. Class is easy but she can be picky and doesn't give second chances on assignments unless its an emergency. I was locked out of my laptop and that wasn't a good enough reason for her. textbook not required just google the pdf document. stay on top of your work.
There were a lot of assignments for a 6-week summer course (over 30 & 6 movies you have to watch), including a 150-question final exam (multiple choice). I would say it's an easy enough course, but it's time-consuming and the assignments are due on weird days/times. difficult to do if you work full time and try to take the class.
An interesting course, but a lot of work squished into 6 weeks can be difficult to manage.
I don't think she understands why people take classes online, because the majority(if not all)of the assignments involve groups. Her grading is silly, she does not actually care if you care about the class, she just wants to make you work as hard as possible.Probably because she is aware that people only take her class for a credit. Don't take her.
Easy class but a lot of assignments so don't fall behind. Tough grader and the group project was not my favorite because of it being an online class, people have different schedules and it's hard to get together all at once and work on the project.
I chose this class as a summer credit, not realizing just how much work needed to be done in such little time. I have a full time job where I work at least 12 hours a day, everyday, and I would not recommend this class to someone who has a busy time schedule just like me. If you are working a part-time job, then yes this class is amazing and fun!
she will allow you to work ahead she is a nice teacher to have she tries to help you out much as possible she will give you a reminder that assignments are due. by a certain time, she will give you the extra time that you need even if you are not finished, she will allow you to either work on other assignments or read a book when class is done
Everything is laid out and easy to understand. More work than I thought there would be, especially reading. But it was a good class and I learned a lot. Teacher was accessible and fair on grading. Enjoyed the work over all.
There is a group project at the end of the semester I had to do mine alone because nobody from my group responded back to my emails. Other than that the work was easy.
She gives us good advice. she provides different to help us understand assignments. she always answers our questions.
She was great provided everything we needed gave extra credit when needed and was very honest about the work turned in. I do wish she would let us make up groups discussion because there are so many to do. Her explaining was great giving examples for everything highly recommend her and the class.
Teacher is pretty good. She seemed fair and easy to contact. There is a lot of work in this class but its do able. Does not accept late work
My professor teaching style is awesome because she is good create at posting assignments and giving good instructions. She loves here students and wants everyone of them to pass. I loved her class because I learned about what it takes to make a movie.
The class is good. It's a lot of fun because you get to watch different movies. You would also learn about the history of film which is quite interesting.
The teacher was always answering via email all my questions or comments, she is so nice and polite. I like the fact that you can asked her anything and she answered with a solution, sometimes be online can be tricky but with her was so easy, thank you.
This is an online class, with easy quizzes for my class no lockdown browser or camera was needed. The class is somewhat easy and just requires you to write a lot of discussion posts about the movies that are assigned. The Professor is hard to get in touch with and waits till the end of the semester to grade assignments.

Overall,as long as the assignments are done on time there should not be a problem.Just beware of random due dates. She will always have everything you need for your assignment to be completed.
This professor was overall well , she just had a lot more work then most drama classes and you will do a lot of group projects
I will say this class had a lot of homework, more than any of my other classes. However, this was my first semester so I can't be too sure. Homework was due mostly on Tuesdays and Thursdays, but sometimes on Mondays too. Watch out for the small group discussions they need to be posted a day in advance or you receive a 50.
Professor Doss posted Fun Friday Findings which were pretty funny. I would take this course again.
she will tell you excly how things are done and you have to follow it to a t thats about it pay attention
I enjoyed taking this class. I passed by the skin of my teeth but that was my fault. You will do great in this class if you stay attentive and read the grading criteria. The discussions were always fun, and this class made me go outside of my comfort zone regarding the films I watched. I highly recommend taking this class.
Their may be a lot of work but it's a pretty easy as long as you keep up with your work. Most assignments were due Tuesday and Thursday. This professor is pretty laid back and very understanding.
Although the coursework itself is easy she is a very tough grader. So much of your grade is reliant on responding to everyone in your assigned group, even if they respond 1 min before the due date. Grading is always way slow. There is a group project. If you're online only you'll likely be doing this project solo. Not horrible, Not great.
although she was a tough grader, she was kind and she was understanding I liked her I personally didn't care for drama so that's probably why I would take the class again, as for others if you enjoy films you would love this class!!!
Although the class was overall enjoyable- She made a lot of students upset. Graded assignments last minute and there was no overall grade at the top of grade book to know if your passing or failing. Make sure to document your work as you go, several mistakes made. Would I take her again- Probably not. Was the class enjoyable -yes.
super sweet teacher gives extra credit, it is a decent amount of work so just make sure you go through all the folders so you don't miss assignments, also she lets you work ahead!
The Class was fun but the grading criteria were difficult. She does not take late assignments, and you must follow instructions to the letter.
This professor sends dedicated emails to you if you are missing assignments. Much Appreciated.
She was very understanding, and the class was very smooth if you do the work
I think everything is good.
As I have read from several students and from my own experience, this teacher's ability to grade work in an orderly fashion is very well below the standard that should be set for a teacher. Although the class was easy, I never knew if I was doing the work properly, and for my film discussions, I was not, so my grade hurts from it.
Not a fan of how the semester is almost over and projects and group discussions haven't been graded yet. This is a part-time job for her and that's fine, I think we can all understand/empathize that people are busy outside of work. She has certain requirements that I believe to be unfair and slightly illogical. Film list is basic but good
I wish she would put our grades in so we would know our grades. Also, I was not too fond of the discussion post times it's very inconvenient for people who work during the afternoon for it being due at 8 pm.
I would take Professor Doss again. The films that we had to watch for this class were interesting and made you look at the world of cinema different. Although, i do agree with the previous ratings. She wouldn't grade in a timely matter so you wouldn't know if your grade is hurting or not.
This professor shouldn't be very strict with students on submitting assignments early
All you have to do is watch movies and submit your discussion posts on time and you'll do just fine.
Deadlines are the most important thing in this class by far. She is less concerned with the content of your writing than the time you submitted your assignment. On several occasions, she totally ghosted my emails, and she grades very late.
Professor Doss has her class content very organized and you can work at your own pace. Just do not forget to go back and respond to the discussions of classmates.
you gon learn today
I took the Summer course and it was packed with tons of work. Forget communication she might email you back in about a week after emailing her. If you are lucky.
I took her for summer classes, so it was a lot of homework. Overall the class was fun, get ready to work with groups online. A lot of group discussion and projects.
Tough Grader, there's a group project, a lot of discussions and responding to discussions about the same thing.
Great instruction. Really fun class and Professor Doss makes it engaging with group projects and fun movies. If you want to take film, choose her!
Just stay on top of dates and really keep the syllabus at hand, with that you will have no issues succeeding in the class.
Lots of work so be ready to be spending time on the computer a lot
She's a good Profesor the only thing it takes her a while to start grading things, however it doesn't affect you as long as you are keeping to the syllabus, staying on top of your homework and reading her grading rubric you should be good because the class is fairly easy she provides extra credit and she's constantly reminding class about due dates
I took Professor Doss' summer semester 6 week course, though we did go through a Hurricane in the beginning of July, that did not stop us from enjoying the interesting film that we had to analyze. She also was a great communicator and very organized in which I enjoyed.
Professor Doss runs a challenging but engaging class. Lots of group work and discussions, but unstuckstudy ai was a huge help for study prep. Stay on top of the syllabus and you'll do well.
overall awesome teacher, the only downside is grades are not updated often, makes it very hard to know where you stand in the class, outside of that she is very knowledgeable and very passionate about film!!
A cool prof. very easy going, and helpful when you need help! only downside was our papers were grade at the end of the semester so we couldn't see our grades until the semester was over. but ill definitely pick her again if I had too.
This course had a lot of work due weekly. Teacher didn't grade assignments until very end of semester. I felt as though she did not check in with us really at all during semester.
She works part time so be prepared for any emails sent to her to be unanswered for up to a month. She also linked the class to a youtube video that didnt exist and made a whole week of work due the week before it was actually meant to be due. HEAVY on the McGraw Hill. Every other week is a lenghy quiz with way too much reading, set to fail.
The class was easy but as others have said everything is graded at the end of the semester so you won't know if you are doing well until the end of semester. There are regular quizzes that are direct from the textbook and small discussions on videos she links.
I loved everything about this class, and everything was well organized with a due date, and every Friday she post fun finding Fridays which is a funny meme, and it as actually made my day a lot of times that i would see it.
Waits until last minute to grade assignments.
I will recommend this professor to any student willing to take a Drama class in future.
I took this course as an online 12 week elective, and it was more reading and assignments than my economics or history class. She was very kind, knowledgeable and passionate about film but did not enter grades until the end of the semester. If you like reading a textbook, then take this class.
great teacher its a really easy class just have to do the work and turn it in on time some assignment are due at different times, just a heads up. but had a great time while I was in this class learn alot about something I love to do with my family and friends and that's watching movies.
Class is pretty straight forward and you have to keep up or you can get behind quick.
This professor was really organized, her content is really easy to follow. She does however have a lot of discussions. This class was majorly discussions, they are due in separate dates so just make sure you follow the checklist to not miss any assignments. Overall, I enjoyed the class. Its fairly easy you just have to keep up with the work.
well she is a good just that she is a part time teacher so she does not respond to your email never and also she put us this group project that was online that I didn't understand. she also put the dead lines of the assignments at 11:30 or 8:00 pm and I don't like that because I'll be missing the dead line always and she doesn't put grades in.
Grades are only posted at the end of the semester, leaving no opportunity to assess your progress or improve if you're not meeting her extremely high standards. Assignments are due on random days with strict deadlines. She doesn't respond to emails, so asking questions or clarification is impossible. The workload is heavy, and her grading is harsh.
She graded all assignments the last day and failed me! didn't have the opportunity to improve if I didn't know what I was doing wrong
This professor has a very easy page and everything is accessible. The only thing about this class is that it feels kind of rushed even though it is a full semester long. It is kind of hard to keep up with the stuff when life gets in the way, other than that, I would say she is a decent professor.
My drama proffesor was excellent each week we had a clear organized set of assigments which made everything straight foward. The class was very organized
There are no words to describe how annoyed this ensignificant professor made me feel. Not only is she a slow grader she's a tough grader as well. Her discussion post not only made me loose my mind each week but are dependent on your other group members. For your sanity just don't take this professor. God bless her soul. Lord help me.
Most of the assignments are on a regular schedule. Weekly discussion boards are dependent on your group members, and there is a major grade group project... good luck. Be warned, you'll have no idea what your grade is until the end. Doesn't respond to emails. She's not a bad teacher, it's just frustrating when taking an online course.
Don't take this professor she is a part time teacher who doesn't respond to emails. I had to contact her superiors just for her to get back with me. When she did respond she didn't answer any of my questions. She is not looking to teach she is just looking to draw a paycheck. Do not take her class at all.
She is very sweet and you can tell she took the time to find interesting material for group discussions. he homework and tests are really simple, but she is a hard grader with projects. There's no late work so if you submit everything on time this class should be an easy A/B!
Great professor—easy to understand, but lots of work. Be careful with discussion posts: the first one is due 24 hours before the final deadline. If it says it's due Friday, assume she wanted it Thursday. Stay organized and you'll do fine!
Professor Doss was great overall. She explained things clearly, was easy to understand, and always willing to help. The class wasn't hard, but you had to stay on top of a lot of assignments to keep up. Her support and clear instructions made the course manageable
The professor's class and her material are not hard; the only problem with her class is that she doesn't grade the assignments until basically the class is over and she doesn't respond to her emails.
Professor's Doss, is great. I love the time she puts in for her students. The work assignments she gave are not hard at all just a little time consuming. I love how we got to watch movies and how we did a group project. That was my first group project online. Overall I think Professor Doss is a good teacher.
The class requires a major group project and other student made it hard to get work started because of their unwillingness to communicate on the workload. Teacher took a while to respond back, if you like working autonomously then this might be a class for you, however the storyboard project requires a lot of work, research and artistic ability.
For starters I did take this class online! Professor Doss class was a fairly easy, her assignments and lessons were instructed well. Although she does lack communication and takes her time putting in grades. Great fun class just no communication which is a necessity when your online.
The professor assign many quizzes and discussions. Please stay on top of your work while taking this class.
Very heavy in having a lot of homework. Discussion post due dates are on Fridays, but they need to get turned in 24hrs before the due date or else it will reflect on your grade. As long as everything gets turned in I'll say it is a pretty easy class.
Nice and friendly
This was a fun class to take only bad thing was the grading would be a bit slow and she takes a while to reply back but other than that it was a easy class to take.
It was a good class and very easy, took it as an elective I needed and enjoyed the assignments couldn't focus on all the films because they just wouldn't catch my attention but other then that I learned a few things.
Well, she cares for her students and tries to give them extra credit so that they can have better grades. also, there is no webcam on the quizzes the tests, and the discussions you have to answer them very well to get an A This professor is really good and so kind and caring of her students.
Good class note that there's group projects
Great professor, it's an online corse but everything has a due date, so I wouldn't say it's an at your own pace kind of course. Mostly all assignments are group discussions and have to be turned in one day early.
This professor is great. She makes every assignment clear and gives good gradings through the week. Definitely minimal assignments, just lots of videos to watch. The good thing is you can go at your own pace and some future assignments aren't locked so you can complete the class faster.
She is very organized with what is posted on d2l. She also makes sure to let you know what will be due. Everything has instructions and it's straight to the point.
Takes too much time to respond to emails from students
The beginning of the semester wasn't too bad, but she stopped grading discussions one month in. Very slow to respond to emails so its hard to communicate. Sends automated emails rather than engaging with the students. Extra credit is taken away days before she is even half way through grading, making it stressful and unfair. Lots of busy work too.
Personally I thought this class content wise was easy, but I do think she is a harsh grader and she takes forever to grade assignments. I felt like I spent a lot of time on the projects and assignment just to receive 80s on everything, however she is a kind professor and directions were straight forward.
Nothing but positive things to say about this class and professor. I've had no problems with any assignments and working online is the best thing I did. Professor Doss is on top of answering questions students have and makes sure to give out reminders via email, about assignments that are due. Overall, very good and easy class to take.
The due dates were alot to handle and i personally feel they were a bit too strict and rigid. Also I still haven't received an back about a discussion post I sent from September
Professor Doss was really nice and always reminded us about when things were due, however she took forever to grade things and have them back to us. I also feel like I tried really hard and was never given the grade I deserved, but overall she was really nice and a good teacher and the content was not difficult.
Great teacher although took long to get grades back to us.
She is very organized and explains assignments clearly. The class is easy to follow, and she gives helpful feedback. I learned a lot and had a good experience overall
She grades difficult with the discussion questions. Grades hard. easy but the projects are alot especially making your own film. I would take her again bur she likes to take her time and grade thoroughly.
Overall, she's not bad, but she does take some time to grade assignments.
Overall a good professor, accepts no late work no matter the circumstances.
I enjoyed the class, it just took a long time to have my assignments graded. I worked hard and put in a lot of time and effort. I wish my work was graded in a timely manner.
Good professor, doesn't accept any late work no matter the circumstances. Never answers emails.
Very good online teacher. The work is very clear, and she is very helpful. She always posts discussions and occasional projects.
Prof. Doss is straight forward in her syllabus, all the dates provided are the actual dates she wants things submitted. so, make sure to actually take your time to do your work and work ahead.
One of my big things when it came to rating was an assignment that was to be turned in at 11:30pm, and I turned it in at 11:49pm because of an emergency situation, and when I went to reach out, I never got an email back, and that's my reason for the low rating.
Everything is okay. It just takes pretty long time for grades.
She is a great teacher, but it takes a little long time to get grades.
Easy class for the most part. There's a quiz over a chapter every week, you watch some movies throughout the semester and do discussions with the class over them. She's very organized and communicates well.
