She tends to be somewhat helpful, but her test are very hard and she can be very confusing, and the book isn't helpful either. I recommend Terry, she subed and I learned a lot in that one class.

Great instructor. Took her class last year. Not too easy, but makes you understand the stuff. Do your homework, there are a lot of points!!
I do not recommend this class. There were more than 60 questions on the each test, and I had only one hour. Well, I needed some time to look it again. Take Terry's class. Terry is much better than Alsheimer.
BAD BAD I will not recommend her class to anyone she repeat what was read in the book and does not anwer questions with much clarity.
From the beginning Ms.Alsheimer made it clear what expectations were necessary to do well in this class. Her syllabus was well written and easy to follow. She emphasized that with repetition in the excercises, a student will succeed. I found this advice coupled with the books self review and mini-excercises useful to my success in her class.
She is supper funny I liked her, she is very willing to help I was failing her class over the summer and she came to talk to me and helped me w/ extra credit points and late assignments, Who does that? super Nice, she doesn't want any one to fail, and overall teaches well, I learned! even if you don't do the HW inclass assgnmts truly help G2 class!
class is easy! she is very nice and willing to help. explains material in class clearly. come to class and read the chapters ull do good. hw is worth alot so do it!
class is easy! she is very nice and willing to help. explains material in class clearly. come to class and read the chapters ull do good. hw is worth alot so do it!
Very nice and sarcastically funny. Teaches through the homework so if you dont do it youll be lost. Easy to follow. TAKE HER CLASS
Nice sense of humor and playfulness to keep a potentially dry subject interesting. Dr. A. coaches you along to be sure you succeed - for example, she checks homework at beginning of class - which forces you to keep up and read ahead. Extra credit given. Go every class & do the homework. If she puts a box around writing on the board - Quiz next day
I liked her a lot. Sure her tests were kinda hard, but I could've studied more. She encourages group study, she's cheerful and always smiles, and her german accent is fun to listen to. especially when she calls packets "packages"...hilarious just thinking about
She's a great teacher!Helpful & funny. I am taking another class from her. But, the class was hard! It's 99.99% hardwork & you cant get away w/ not doing your work cuz it will cost you. It's lots of work with smaller pts awarded, but when you finish her class surely you'll be ready for the next level. She doesn't curve, but she's fair with her grading
I had fun in this class even though I don't find accounting particularly interesting. The tests are fair and I thought the textbook was good despite all the typos.
She's got a German accent so hard to understand. She told me not to continue with Acct. even though I received a B. She told me this in front of other students so she created a hostile environment for me. A couple of students approached me and said they felt the same as her.Be prepared to be called on to do problems in front of class randomly.
She is a great teacher. Very funny. Don't miss class because it hurts your grade. Do all homework because you get points for it and it will really help. Definitely should take accounting with this teacher.
Dr. Alsheimer is a great teacher - super nice person, very funny, helpful, fair, gives several extra credit opportunities, and makes you really understand the material. She might call on you in class, so don't sleep in her class. You'll be successful if you do all the homework and attend all the classes. Loved her class!
One of the people that I shall remember...loved her! She is the true deal. Very straight-forward. Be prepared to do the work. Respect her and she shall respect you. Lots of homework.
There is homework everyday and comp assignments, so if you're a SLACKER...then I wouldn't take this class. The tests were mainly multiple choice. I recommended re-reading the chapters before the test. I had one of the top grades in my class. It's not hard as long you put the time into your work.
Read each chapter at least once, twice is better. Do the homework and be serious about it and you'll be fine. Come to class late, miss assignments, talk to friends in class, well, you're a goner.
Not a fan of this teacher at all. I do the homework, show up on time for each and every class, study, and the only nice thing I can say about this teacher is she puts in effort (or as I call it, wastes valuable class time) to learn everyone's name. Just teach me something already!!! No shaming or picking on people needed either, just teach please.
I took her for accounting 100. She is a good teacher. If you don't like being called on during class and being the center of attention then beware. I liked her though shes funny.
I took her class last semester. She was super nice, fair, and funny. But you are gonna have so much work for the class. You should not miss any hw otherwise your grade will be lower. The exams are pretty hard. I saw 5 or 6 people dropped the class middle of the semester. ACCT 230 is one of the hardest class in SBCC.
I took Prof. Alsheimer for Acct. 230 and 240. She is a great teacher who works hard to make sure that everyone is on track. There is an large amount of homework and reading because both 230 and 240 are very difficult classes. Do all the HW, read every chapter at least once, and study very hard for tests, utilize the tutor you, and you can get an A.
This "teaching name" is a duplicate listing (as can be seen) and needs to be removed). Thank you.
AWESOME!
LOVE LOVE LOVE HER! I was really not looking forward to this class, but she is an amazing teacher. Usually, I find it hard to follow teachers with thick accents. (she is from germany) However, she is extremely clear and tries really hard to make sure people's questions are answered. If you need to take managerial accounting take it with her! :)
The class is very difficult but once you get out of this class you will know accounting. Professor Alsheimer is tough but fair. She expects you to do your work and put in the time. You will spend a lot of time doing plenty of homework. She is very knowledgeable and has a good sense of humor. She makes accounting as fun as possible.
Hadest class ive taken. Took for summer school so we did one chapter each day and homework took easily 2-4 hours each per chapter, Shes very clear and a great professor, just requires a lot of work and she expects you to be a whiz at it when your done, which you will be. She is hard but fair
The professor is very thorough when it comes to teaching the subject of Financial Accounting. Her major flaw is the amount of repetitive homework assigned and her terrible grader. The grader is careless, doesn't read for content, and grades most papers well below 70 percent. I have a 3.6 GPA, earned A/B's on tests. The grader is terrible.
She's very unorganized. make sure you do the homework completely and hand it in on time as it is a good part of your grade. grading is based on points so take advantage of the extra credit opportunities. I felt like she didn't always give enough time to finish the tests which have multiple choice and handwritten problems. Study with her handouts.
Her grader is terrible
The accounting classes at SBCC are dreadful, and that's a fact. Both Acct 230 and 240 are not to be taken lightly, so this class is not for the student who never does homework. Professor Alsheimer is very helpful during class, with her lectures and inclass assignments. The course is demanding, but if you put time into it, you can do well.
She is a great teacher! The test are quite challenging but a large portion of your grade is earned from the HW and FSA's. You can get an A if you score decent on the tests, and prepared to spend a couple of hours studying outside of class every week.
Lectures are boring as hell, and she has her preferences in class and so she isn't a good teacher. Her assistant teacher helped me way more than her in understanding the subject and getting a good grade. And she gives way too much useless homework such as handwritting 4 page full of notes for each chapters. Choose another teacher !
She is very knowledgeable and try to help students to understand. However she doesn't realize it by assigning all this homework and not useful FSA, we don't have enough time to study. She doesn't graded your FSAS so don't bother to ask her about your FSA'S grade. I hope she try to help us to pass not fail.
Her lectures are interesting. Has a great sense of humor. Expects you to read the book and do your homework. Very fair.
This professor is by far the worst teacher I have ever had. I ended up getting a 69% as a final grade for her class. Keep in mind 70% in passing. I can't believe she didn't pass me. If she cared AT ALL about her students' success, she would have given me the extra 1% to pass. WORST teacher EVER.
Great teacher! Practice all the inclass assignments and homework problems before exam, part of the exam is taken from these assignments. Lots of reading and lots of homework. But worth doing it. I learned a lot from this class!
She is the only teacher for this subject and honestly made me dislike accounting. Her lectures are boring and she does not explain very well. There is a lot of homework and also article essays. Homework is not always the same as her classwork, its confusing, and tests are not easy also not the same as homework. Take somewhere else!
She is very nice teacher. I took 230 and 240 with her and got A on both. It is not easy class. You cant just go to class and do your home work and expected to get A , you have to read each chapter at least 4 to 5 times. Her test is not hard if you really understand each chapter. Dont miss any of her lecture. She is amazing.
Great professor! You won't pass the class without reading the chapters multiple times. She does a good job explaining the chapters and the class assignments are good studying tools for test. Attendance is taken every day so it's highly recommend you don't miss class. Do all the extra credit when given.
Professor Alsheimer is a great teacher. The handouts she gives in class are very helpful for her tests. She has a lot of office hours and is willing to help you if you need it. She gives fair amount of homework, but very doable.
She is a really knowledgeable professor. Her lecture is amazing. Don't miss any of her lecture. Accounting 230 and 240 are really tough classes and you need to work really hard to get A . She is always ready to help and make sure you understand the material well. Just practice all her sample question and understand the concept.I
I will preface by saying that I am a near straight A student and received an A in this class. That being said, she is by far the worst instructor I've ever had. She is a rude, un-agreeable person and acts in a manner unbecoming of anyone, least of all a college professor. Assigns ridiculous amount of busy work and her lectures are a waste of time.
Be ready to read. She give a lot of pointless hw, notes and learsmart are stupid. THEY DO NOT SHOW UP ON THE EXAM. Do the example exam questions and the quiz on learnsmart multiple times: both of this instruments are your best chance to pass with a decent grade. she is a good teacher but NOT FAIR, to much HM and most of it is not on the examto bad.
Took her for Acct230 and Acct240. Tough classes but great professor. Do the homework and all the extra credit. Part of the exams are taken from class work.
Don't hate the player, hate the game. Cornelia is an amazing professor. Accounting classes are very hard and you really have to be dedicated to the subject if you wish to receive good grades from them. She gives out a lot of homework but her exams are not hard if you only study enough for them. If you want to learn acct, definitely take her!
-Uses old unintelligible Powerpoints -Tons of LearnSmart homework -Uses unintelligible drawings on board to convey a point -Thick accent is hard to understand (though admittedly not her fault) If you take her, study the interactive presentations in Connect!!! (Received D in the class, have transferred to a 4 year taking same class, received an A)
She is one of the smartest professors I've ever had. Very knowledgeable in the curriculum. She gives you "mock exams" that are basically the same as the real exams with a few minor adjustments. Study those well in order to do well on the exams cuz your grades are heavily depended on your exam scores. HW every class period. You will learn A LOT!!!
Best professor in SBCC. She is just great and with a great attitude
Seems as though she is incredibly knowledgable in the field of accounting however, I wouldn't describe her as even being a teacher. She reads lengthy slides in class, has other people grade homework and is not at all accessible outside of class. Says that this class is a lot of work, but the homework is easy the tests are just impossible.
Hardest class I've taken at SBCC so far, mainly due to the teaching style. She's more of a babysitter than a professor since she just reads slides and has a tutor come in and help. I'm changing my major due to how awful this class was. Don't take this class if you don't like teaching yourself the material, also the tests are way too difficult.
Amazing professor who knows her stuff. She is also really funny and makes sure that everybody understands the material. She offers online practice exams before midterms and final. Dont miss those. Lots of extra credit.
Alsheimer teaches and extremely difficult course and is incredibly intelligent. I feel like a lot of people harbor animosity towards her because she is a strong woman and some just don't give her the respect she deserves. She is nice and will help whenever possible but she knows when you're not putting in any effort and will call you out on it.
Excellent teacher. Clear in concepts. Makes the class interesting. Very patient and helpful. Tests are quite difficult and require putting in a lot of hard work.
Honestly, not gonna lie I passed the class but this was by far the harderst course I have taken at this school. SHE is very helpful and responsive through email; however, her exams are a bit overboard in both length and amount of content in them. Her grading skills aren't to rough just don't match up with your overall grade on you're canvas account
She makes you do busy work for like 20% of your grade and the rest is based off extremely hard exams that no one passes. The highest grade on the first exam was an 80 and she refused to curve. Do not take this class with her, take it at a different university. She fails everyone! Only there because of 10 year .
Professor Alsheimer was my professor for Accounting 110 Online. She did a really good job using Canvas for an online class. I never had any issues wondering how to access materials or when assignments were do. Her tests covered the material instructed in the readings and I learned a lot about the fundamentals of accounting. I recommend her.
You have to take chapter notes. The tests are very very hard, lot's of questions in very little time. Almost everyone complains about her tests. She is not very responsive and a visit to her office will let you know she is an unorganized messy person. The good thing was that she does put out detailed lecture videos. Those really help. HARD TESTS!!
Accounting and going to take more effort to succeed than the average CC class that you're used to, you must accept this. However, Prof. Alsheimer recognizes this and gives the student all the tools they need to succeed! If you actively go to each class lecture, master the homework, and utilize the tutors throughout the year YOU WILL PASS FORSURE!
Professor Cornelia is an amazing educator!! She will make you work for the grade you want, she gives a lot of homework but its the same 'homework' throughout the entire semester. Visit during office hours, sit down and go over exams with her - she LOVES that! She loves when students put in the time and work for her class - you will be rewarded!!
Professor Alsheimer was one of my favorite teachers yet! Most of the class was based around the online ebook and the discussion posts. We had a few Quizzes too. A very nice teacher overall and super friendly grader. Thank you again!!!!
Mrs. Powers was great! I really enjoyed her leadership and the subject. I had taken The Legal Environment of International Business and she did a great job of teaching. It was mostly discussion forums, exams, and a few projects. Overall very reasonable and super friendly!!!! Thanks again!!!!! Sebastian )
Erratic with the assignments, certain assignments would get taken off or put back on the course without any announcement from the professor. She gives you the option of getting 75% on late assignments then locks the assignments so you can't access them. Don't even try to get in touch with her, I tried for 2 months and got no response back.
Being in the military and going to school isnt easy but Cornelia is the reason why Im motivated to keep going to school. She is very understanding of my complicated schedule, shes an honor to learn from and she will pull strings for you as long as you put in the effort. She rocks!!
The material in Acct 240 is really hard. She had prerecorded lectures, and had a tutor to help. However, the tutor had trouble explaining things. It is not impossible to get an A. She gave out 15 points of extra credit which helped me get an A. Overall a great forgiven teacher. There should be more like her.
Worst professor ever. Gives out way tooooo much hw for a 4 unit course. Taking calc thats a 5 unit course so much easier than this class. This class just stresses me out she never responds to her emails. Her teaching is not grade the lecture videos dont make sense at all.
Worst professor I have ever taken at SBCC. She always changes the due dates which is not fair for the students. She changes the due dates without a heads up!! Her lectures suck. Never responds to emails. These couple of weeks she has posted the modules late. Which sucks. This is online course but dreading just going to the pre recording lectures.
This teacher lacks emotional intelligence.
Prioritized this class and could not get my grade up. There is SO. MUCH. WORK. and she cant even keep on top of it (takes forever to grade everything) so how are we expected to?
Took the class this summer. It was a lot of work, but I learned a lot. And if you do all the work it is easy to pass and get a good grade. Class had two teachers. Both very caring, they even gave us their personal cell phone numbers so that we could reach them.
I took Finance 101 and 202 both from Cornelia, and she assigns so much work. I took Business 101 and 202 from another professor, and the work load from Cornelia was more than double. There are 3 page summaries for every single one of the 16 chapters you go over so over the course of the class you will write almost 50 pages of hand written text.
Avoid this class if you can. So much work to do in so little time. Expect to spend at least 4-5 hrs every 2-3 days as she assigns full chapters of work every 2-3 days. This class is very hard to manage if you are taking any other class. Tests have a lot of questions with little time. I will say it again, insane amount of work avoid.
Expectations and due dates were very clear. There were things due every 2 days. Nothing crazy for a 4 credit 5 week course. Very manageable. Homework is all through cengage which is really helpful. Quizzes are unlimited attempts. The exams were mainly t/f questions. Late assignments are accepted for 25% off your grade. I highly recommend Cornelia.
This class almost made me want to quit accounting. She was disorganized, opened modules late, changed deadlines assignments take sooo long to do and are worth so little. Not enough time to take tests with lengthy word problems. Hardly replies to emails.
Worst teacher I've had. Confusing lectures, gives an INSANE amount of work that counts for very little, makes you HAND WRITE summaries for every chapter, the tests are packed with lengthy, confusing word problems that you don't get enough time for. And she NEVER responds to any messages for help. Horrible.
Be prepared to do 3+ hours of notes a week on top of 2 homework assignments (avg 2.5hr) and a quiz (avg 1hr). The lecture just briefly goes over the highlights of the chapter you just wrote 3-6 pages of notes on. The only thing I liked was the extra credit opportunities, which helped in the long run because this is an exhausting course. LOTS OF HW.
I will say you must stay on top of the work but that is not difficult. Everything in terms of classwork is clear and fair. Grading is simply given if you show up and do your work correctly. It is a 5 unit class so plan your schedule accordingly so you have the time to complete the work. Handwriting is required but personally that is what I prefer.
I don't recommend taking her class unless you really have no other option like I did. She assigns an insane amount of work that takes forever to do. Exams are also long and overall the class is just so exhausting.
If you have any other optioon go with them instead. Her class is one of the worst I have ever had at this school. She gives way too much homework and requires 4 pages of hand written notes for every chapter. She rarely responds to emails, isn't much help when she does. Would highly recommend literally any other professor, Benjamin Reyes especially!
Class was really difficult, if you think you like accounting, this is a great challenge! Prof knows what it takes to understand the fundamentals and pass the CPA, I respect her for taking it seriously and preparing students who might already be in a bookkeeping role.
This is quite literally the worst most impossible class I have ever been in, am quite literally suffering. Everyday I come to this class and feel like a stupid idiot amongst those that seem to understand the subject while I'm struggling to grasp the concept. Get ready to feel the same if you choose to take this class!!! ❤️
no comment.
The class goes very quick and you do a chapter of the textbook with 7 assignments for that chapter + a quiz every two days. On top of that 3-4 pages of handwritten notes for the chapter. Lots of teaching yourself and class moves very fast. So easy to fall behind. I spend a good 6hrs at least for each chapter.
Whole class is taught by cengage, you'll have to write 3 pages of notes per chapter that you get graded on. Bob who does the lectures is a fantastic individual, all Cornelia does is “grade” your assignments. Like I said 95% of the class is cengage so she doesn't really do much. Be ready to work, I would avoid the summer course at all costs
Dr. Alsheimer and Dr. Woyach for me have been life changing. The courses are supposed to be a little harder, and the help is availble to pass the classes. I managed to stay ahead thanks to the 3 pages we had to submit with each chapter, and that helped me focus on vocabulary and theory.
Brutal. Endless homework, nitpicky grading, exams on barely-covered material. Emails rarely answered; “office hours” feel mythical. Learned more from Google/textbook. I got an A, but I didn't have a life. ake someone else if you value sleep, sunlight, or sanity.
Time consuming !! About 4-5 assignments due every week on each CH. Hardest class I've ever taken. Tons and tons of hmwk you cannot cruise through the class easily. Watch her recorded lectures and follow along with the handouts if you want to learn. TAKE THE PRACTICE EXAMS otherwise you'll be in for a rude awakening.
