very sweet lady! if you come to class and get her notes you will be fine. Her tests aren't hard if you have the notes. She is always prepared and very organized.
very cool teacher, and very helpful too, all teachers should be like her.
Prof. Rakvin is very helpful and will go out of her way to extend herself to meet with students for tutoring, exam prep...and gives awesome reviews with review sheets. No major paper - just short write-ups that are a breeze...some group work - easy A!!! Highly Recommend her.
She is very nice teacher. Dont miss class, pay attention, take notes. Very good teacher.
Would NOT recommend this class. Ms. Rakvin does not give ANY grades until the last week of class and expects WAY too much for an INTRO class. Tests took HOURS to finish due to having to write SEVERAL paragraphs in addition to short answer. If Psychology is your thing, go for it. If it's not your thing, steer WELL clear of this class. Good luck!
She's a nice teacher. You need to study all of your notes and make sure you read the chapters to make a good grade on the test. She usually offers to meet with you before a test if you want to. If you do not miss a day she will let you exempt your final exam!
Mrs. R is the best prof. i have ever had! She is kind, thoughtful and caring. She really loves psy and you can tell! Her stories are funny and makes you want to come to class to hear new ones each day!
Prof. Rakvin is so nice and is always there to help. She makes psy fun and interesting. Everything is on powerpoint -She is in class before it starts and will stay after to ask any questions you may have. Her tests are not hard and not too easy - she gives extra credit. I wish I had other professors like her. Highly recommend.
Mrs. R is a great professor. She is always there to help, before or after class. She makes herself very available to help students and this is a major plus!!! Her tests are not hard if you study your notes and read the book. I highly recommend taking her for ANY psych course. Great experience!
Mrs. Rakvin is a really great teacher!! This is a great class and I definitely recommend it, however, you must study!! If you read the book, take notes, and go to class you'll be fine!! She really wants her students to do well and offers SOO much extra credit. I got A's on all my tests. My first exam ended up being a 115 with the extra credit.
Mrs. R is a super cool instructor. I am highly recommending you take her if you want to get out of General Psych with an A and actually learn about psych. She has great lectures that are fun, interactive, and the group work is easy - good extra points.
Awsome - fun class; and psych is NOT my major. Mrs. R brings psych to life with real world examples as well as group work, fun projects, classroom discussions and jeapordy! Highly Recommend this instructor!!!!! She is always available to talk or to help students no matter how big or small!!!!
I took the six week course online, it's a sixteen week course crammed into six, and she warned us that it was going to be intense. She extended due dates for the class and seemed very reasonable. I probably wont take another class of hers, the exams were tough. But she gave extra credit for the whole course.
This professor is by far one of the nicest teachers at santa fe. You should take notes in class and pay attention for an A. She gives many extra credit opportunities, take her! Tests aren't that bad, just pay attention in class and read and you will pass with a high grade.
Mrs. R is the Best teacher. TAKE THIS CLASS. It is super easy. All of your test are online so as long as you take notes you will pass. She moves along quickly but she is a wonderful teacher!!!!!!!!
She is a very nice teacher, the work load is fair, notes are useful for test. But not an easy A even though i got one. Its like any class, you need to study. overall great teacher.
Mrs. R is one of the best professors @SFCC.She's always willing to help students improve their grades. Her tests are challenging but hey that's what college is all about! If you take good notes from her slides (lectures are done with power points)&you come to class you will have plenty of opportunities to earn extra credit. She is awesome/HighlyRecom
SHE'S GREAT!!!! You must come to class because she gives examples that stick so that you remember them well for the exam...she's extremly helpful and aided me in receiving an A in the class!A! I highly recommend her!!!! But you MUST study! if you study...you should be good...
awesome!
Mrs R. is awesome! She teaches great because she knows what she is talking about. You need to attend class because she does not post her slides online plus you get points for attendance!! Its an easy A if you study! I would so recommend her!
4 online tests - about 35 questions each, with about 70 minutes to complete. If you don't make A's on them, you won't make A's on anything. Seriously. Final exam was a very easy project on poster board that didn't take more than a few hours to complete. Very little homework. Easy class BUT you learn a lot... in other words, the best kind of class!
I LOVE HER TO DEATH!! she is one of the best professors at Santa Fe... she is so laid back and awesome.. i would recommend her to anyone.. her work isnt bad, i wanted to go to class.. she is interesting and so smart and fun.. YOUR THE BEST MRS.R!!
She is the BEST! We need more professors like her! She truly WANTS her students to do well, and goes out of her way to help everyone! She keeps her class entertaining making it fun to learn. She expects you in class, but made it interesting enough that you want to be there. I learned so much from her! You won't regret taking her! A+ to you Mrs R!!!
By far Ms. R is the very best professor at Santa fe. She will answer all of your questions. Most of the work comes from powerpoints and the book. I didn't study for not one test, but w/ the study guide and just looking at sections in the book I recieved a C+ on exams. I made an B+ in this class. I just wish I would have studied a little more :-)
I was not very happy with this class online. Took days to return emails and responses sometimes seemed rude. Easy class with not a lot of work. Probably a lot better in person.
I took this class online. Was very disappointed. Basically no interaction with the teacher. We never heard from her. It was like we were totally on her own. Class was reading textbook and that's it. A few tests. Not a hard class but disappointing. Probably better to take on campus with her.
most online courses are like that, i had her for on campus she is really nice and makes class fun i got an A+ but i was really motivated just starting college so that helped me there is a lot to remember tho, so expect to study.
Very sweet lady! She's a practicing counselor, she really knows this subject! She loves to help her students.
Ms. R made psych fun and interesting. I loved her funny stories and she brought real life examples into the classroom for us! Thought group work was easy and helped me understand the info better. Highly recomm. Ms. R!
Awesome professor. I had her online class and you HAVE to keep up with the reading. Her powerpoints are EXTREMELY helpful and the chapter outlines tell you all the important things to focus on. Great professor.
Not a bad online class. Lots of reading and as all online classes, you are pretty much on your own. Read, Discussion, and test every week. (this was a 6wk course) Very fast passed as I expected.
No matter how many notes you take, or how long you study you still won't get an amazing score on the test. Online notecards take HOURS but are helpful. You need the book and access code. If you miss one day, you'll miss SO much. Shes nice but it's a hard class. Tests are timed multiple choice and online. Make friends &study together, it helps alot!
Very good teacher. She's very insightful, test are hard but if you study you can receive a good grade. Highly recommend taking her class I learned a lot.
this was a abnormal psychology class and the students pretty much taught themselves. Students had to present different disorders and then there were a few papers to write and the test were online (open book) but overall the students taught each other! not my idea worth paying for class
She is a really nice teacher, and you can tell she loves her job. I was disappointed that the tests never seemed to match what was taught in class, and her power points are NOT available online. She switches slides quickly so bring a camera if you want to make sure you dont miss anything. A lot of time has to be devoted to study, the test is timed!
For those of you who are complaining there is too much work - this is college ppl! Seriously - if you do the work and take the tests you should get a A or a B in here. Prof. Corrie makes sure there are discussions and interactions each class period, some group work, and very open ended lectures. You won't pass if you don't study, makes sense right?
I thought this class was going to be interesting from all the reviews but it really was boring. Her quizzes are all on angel but the midterm & final are in class, the study guide for them is useless she uses scenario questions. She's a sweet lady but her class is terrible. Don't take her for a easy A
So incredibly sweet and nice, but did not like her class. Lectures are boring. I thought psychology was going to be a fun class but it's more of a burden. If you need to take psych for a credit, take her for sure. But do not take her just for an easy A or a fun class.
This is college not high school - the course work should be a challenge - NOT EASY! If that's the case then get outta college. Ms. Corrie is one of the best profs here at SF. I highly recommed her - she is very approachable - ask her she will help you pass!!!!! Take the time!!!!
AMAZING CLASS! she does a great job teaching and i learned a ton. You need to go to to her class though because she will not post/email notes at all.
Great class, Prof Gross is very helpful, in and outside of the class. The classroom is open for discussion in relation to the topics. She follows course outline on time, the tests are not easy, but if you go to class, and read most of the book, you will get a good grade.
I LOVE HER!! She's funny, really nice, really clear & her class is SUPER EASY! She gives online Connect hw (which are just flashcards) yes there are quite a bit of them but they REALLY help you study and it's an easy A. (P.S., they're a huge % of your grade) Quizzes are all online. Midterm & final are in class. FINAL ISN'T CUMULATIVE!! Got an A :)
Nice and clear online class. If you have dedication you will get a A, great professor, no surprises and the clearness of her instructions makes the class easier.
This is a very demanding online course. There are weekly discussions and online homework. However if you commit to the class and do the work you can easily ace it. At the end she requires you to answer 10 essay questions, which is a little excessive, but at least she gives you extra time to complete them.
I really like Professor Gross. You have to do the reading but she is so helpful. Great teacher!
I am no Psych expert. I was just looking to pass this class before starting it; however, with the help from Professor Corrie, I was able to get an 'A'. It will require time, which is understood as you are not having to drive and park on campus and all that. Put in the time and you will get an A! Any issues, email her!!!
Very helpful and clear. She goes over power points each day in class, and expect you to take notes. Although attendance is a grade, most of the info you need is clearly in the book, and through her online flash cards. She only gives a midterm and a final, and about 5/6 quizzes all semester. Great class.
I LOVE CORRIE. She is such a lovely person. I really enjoyed this class. It is always great to have a professor that is not only a good teacher but also has a lot of experience in the subject that they are teaching. She is brilliant and I admire her a lot! Take her if you need to take gen psych or developmental! I was lucky to have her.
This class is interesting and pretty easy if you put in the work. There is homework a quiz for each module that is done online. The final exam is 7 essays and they're an easy grade if you put in effort.
I really DID NOT enjoy this course. It felt like it was mostly busy work and like they were trying to make an easy subject difficult. I found many of the HW questions to be subjective. If you're actually interested in Psych take the live class. If you're an experienced humanities student, it may make you want to bash your head into the wall.
Awesome teacher!! She sets you up for success!!!! I have taken PSY2012 in class before and made an F. I took this online and made a A. I put hardly any effort into this class. If you do the work you will pass. She sticks to her syllabus, so if you know that then you will pas easily. I actually learned a lot from her!! I plan on taking DEV with her!
This has to be the easiest class I've ever taken. The professor is very helpful and will respond to emails in a timely fashion.
Eventhough this was a 6 weeks face to face hybrid class, Professor Gross made this class easier than it actually is. Is you read the material, do all assignments, and ask her for clarification(s) you will do fine. She is easy to talk to, for she is down to earth. She is very passionate about helping students succeed in her class.
If you love psychology you will Love this teacher. She is AMAZING! Very helpful, stays after class, and very good lectures. She is a psychologist herself and shares very interesting stores through lectures. I have interviewed her for another class project & she is helping me find a mentor. Take her class!
Psychology was a course I was really looking forward to taking and Prof. Corrie made it an awesome choice. She gives amazing lectures and stories that will help you remember the material. There is not a ton of assignments to do and as long as you pace your homework and quizzes ahead of time you should do amazing. Strongly suggest!
she gives you the answers to your study guide. You have an option whether you want to take the final or do an alternative assignment. shes a great teacher and has humor. she gives real life examples all of the time to help you relate to the lecture.
I took this class online because I didn't have time for another campus class with my work schedule. I was worried but Professor Corrie is great! She gives you an option to take the final or do all your HW's. She also is big on discussion & class participation. Tests are easy and fair! I forgot I was taking a class sometimes!
Really enjoyed this class, such a great professor. The work load is not heavy at all, and professor Corrie has such a great sense of humor. Lectures are interesting and learn a lot, very insightful topics. Defiantly take Prof. Corrie if you need Psych. You learn so much and there isn't an intense amount of work, just listen and you learn a bunch.
All I have to say is, amazing course, fantastic professor. Take Prof. Corrie NOW. Don't wait! Fun class and you learn so much about life. She is a sweetheart and really cares about her students. A+ Professor!
I took PSY2012 online in a 6 week semester. I was extremely frustrated the entire course. There is a ton of reading material. She gave us study packets that I found to be useless. She didn't grade half of my assignments until after the final so I did not know my true grade status during the entire course. My advice, take in 12 weeks on campus.
I wouldn't recommend choosing this professor, she's a tough grader and she doesn't give good feedback. Also her topics for her discussions are stupid af and hard! So if you want to pass, please don't choose her. -Good Luck
Took Prof. Gross online DEP this summer. It's an online 6 week course people - for those complaining here! You should expect to work for ur grade! There is online HW/ McGraw it is amazing helped me pass all my quizzes. There are online discussion forums to help us connect material w/others. Prof is very active online/caring/responds fast to email!
Great class online! Great discussions and helpful professor! Responds quickly to questions and emails.
I've taken several classes with Prof Corrie. She has great class discussions both live and online. I learned so much from her classes that I know has helped me tremendously! Highly recommend!
This was the BEST class I have taken so far! It's 100% online (so there is probably more work than live) but the instructor interactions and discussion forums were awesome! You can tell this prof. cares and wants you to learn about developmental psych! Take Prof. Gross you will LOVE her! I learned SO much about life! Thank you Professor!
Not much work in her class except reading the Ebook and questions that go with the text. If you complete them you should do well on her exams. She's pretty cool and friendly just listen to her talk and you'll learn some interesting things about psychology. She also shows videos and gives out extra credit!
Professor Gross was a great teacher! I took this course online and she had everything laid out on what was expected as well as when. If I ever had any questions or concerns she got back to me quickly. If you do all the work you're supposed to, you'll get an A. I definitely recommend DEP2004 with Professor Gross.
Prof. Gross was unique, Her quizzes to me were hard because she wasn't clear not he study guide nor in the text book. It was an okay class but I wouldn't recommend if you are looking for an easy 'A'.
This course wasn't hard, just busy work. There are 5 quizzes, 4 discussion posts, & 2 study packets (midterm/final). All the test questions are situational (think Nclex style). Quizzes were due on Sunday, but I would do them early. Her communication is awful and nothing is graded until the end of the semester besides the quizzes.
Prof Gross goes out of her way to meet with students via phone and on campus most Fridays for her online courses and offers reviews in person at her SF office. She is caring and wants her students to do well. If you are not doing well (as some mentioned here) then you are simply not doing your work. I would take her again.
Not a fan when instructors use Connect to assign students HW. Can they give us assignments more original and interesting but not busy work? Her course seems straightforward but could be organized a better in regards to how she houses her content in Canvas.
I took this class online and struggled. I didn't get feedback until weeks after I asked and the feedback I got was not specific to me. I felt that I couldn't ask for help. The quizzes were extremely hard and I felt that I didn't really learn much. Although I finished with an A, I would advise against taking this class online.
I took her DEP2002 online. It wasn't a difficult class - just a few discussion posts, normal tests, and Canvas - but don't expect much teacher feedback. Grades didn't come in for anything but automatically graded quizzes until the very end of the semester. She was impossible to reach over course mail. Just be ready to learn independently.
This course was pathetic. I learned very little in what could have been an interesting subject. A lot of busy work and very easy. If you want to learn about DEV PSY don't take this professor or at least not online. When I emailed her she was very unclear with her responses. Found out my participation and connect grades after the class was over.
I took Developmental Psychology online. It is definitely an easy A class, it's almost completely based off of Connect. As for the quizzes & tests, everything is found in the book, which is on Connect as well. Make sure to read the syllabus to clearly understand her grading criteria, especially for essays / posts!
I took this course online and it was one of the best decisions I have made! The assignments and exams are super manageable. Everything on the test is what you learn through Connect! There is a lot of Connect assignments, if you do well using Connect TAKE THIS COURSE! A few essays but still not difficult! I HIGHLY recommend taking this class! :)
Prof. Gross is a great online teacher. This is online so you have to work for it because you are NOT in a live class. She responds to emails very quickly and will set up appointment times to talk to you via phone or in her office. Everything is outlines and straightforward so if you fail it's your own fault! A+ for this class!
Took online. If you're looking for an easy class with only a few assignments this is NOT for you. Lots of assignments and quizzes, quizlet won't help that much. Textbook definitely required. A bit of a tough grader. Kind, but will answer questions broadly. Makes you work for grade. Shares funny memes about psychology though.
The class itself is heavy reading with some discussion posts and quizzes thrown in. Very self-righteous and full of herself. Average grade one the final exam essay was a 50 percent. Doesn't grade until the last minute and is a very tough grader. Class is easy but Gross sets you up for failure.
Ms. Gross was a good teacher. Not a lot of interaction since it was an online class but she was big on discussion posts as assignments. Theres only 3 quizzes the entire semester and the final is a short essay paper. She waits till the end of the semester to grade everything, it was an easy online class and would recommend to anyone needing credit
She does not communicate effectively. Get ready to be confused about assignments and not hear back from her for a while. She does not grade in a timely manner (ie. half of the assignments weren't graded halfway thru semester). Very VERY harsh grader. expects flawless APA format but will not teach how to do it.
Dr. Gross does a great job of making connections with students in class w/open discussion forums & her announcement posts. She does grade throughout the term. I'm not sure why others have said that but the last 3 assignments are not due until end/tallied at the end. Grades are there to see daily. Great time in her class/learned a lot
This class had the potential to be interesting but the prof was not great. She took forever replying to emails and didn't reply to some emails. There was NO teaching on her behalf, if you have trouble teaching yourself from the textbook, do not take this course. Prof. Gross took weeks to grade assignments and graded harshly. would not recommend.
This teacher is the absolute worst. She gave me a zero because of an error she made and due to this I am failing the class. She gives you no instruction and when she does it is confusing I do not recommend her
Professor Gross is a great professor. She is always an email away if you need help and she went out of her way to call me on a Saturday to discuss concepts I was having trouble with. There are a few heavily weighted papers for the class, but if you use all the tools she suggests; then you will get a good grade.
The class was overall easy to pass but that was based on my own effort. The entire class is based around discussions and readings. You are teaching yourself the entire class. She's a hard grader when it comes to the discussions + final exam paper so be prepared to brush up on your APA. In my opinion, her grading was a little harsh w/ no xtra credit
Prof. Gross is a great instructor. This class was completely online so yes, you are basically teaching yourself the course. She offers time to meet on zoom or by phone to help you one-on-one. She makes herself very available so you have to reach out for help. She wants you to learn psych and APA style. Overall, great class!
Professor Corrie was so kind and really was involved throughout the duration of the course. I highly recommend her as a professor as she does not make you endure any unnecessary stress. Great experience!
Cooperative but sort of a harsh grader when it comes to the final paper. Prior to the final, I had a 96-100 average but afterward, I barely received an A. Took over the summer so not quite sure how different it is for the full semesters, if at all. Would take again with Professor Gross, discussions were very thought-provoking and immersive
If you read the syllabus you can pass her class. I took the class for fall B and we had 5 module quizzes, 4 discussion boards, and a paper for our exam. As long as you understand the readings you'll pass the quizzes. For the discussions and the paper, make sure you don't have any grammar errors. Overall I didn't need to interact with her too much.
Very good professor. You are expected to work independently and read a lot of materials. Very good at communication and feedback. Gives big projects that count for most of your grade based on the reading you are assigned. Very informative.
naw, i love psych so it made this class bearable, but prof corrie was not it, very strict with grading and only has a couple assignments. Makes u take quizzes on her novel of a syllabus and focuses more on APA than the actual course. Does not accept late work which is understandable, but its hard to maintain a good grade from her
Gross was great in putting grades right away and giving feedback on assignments! Professor will you a timeline of when all assignments are due so that you can write it in a calendar and keep up with assignments. Only way to fail the class is if you forget an assignment deadline.
This professor made this class super easy and actually fun to learn. All her work is easy to do. If you follow her instructions, you will get an A on everything. She also provides the textbook, so you do not have to buy!
