Professor vanished half way through the semester. She completely stopped replying to emails. She would assign assignments and not post them. Her tests are ridiculously hard. Avoid this professor at ALL costs.
Cory hasn't returned any emails and I emailed her twice. The schedule is hard to tell what is due and what is just for reading. She only put half of the assignment that were due this week up at the first of the week and just put the other half up today, Wed. after I emailed her. She opens the class at noon on the first day of school.
This is a TOUGH class; however, if you go to her lectures she offers questions that are directly on the test. If you do the learnsmart reading homework (its super easy) you will get a pretty good understanding. There aren't any trick questions on exams so as long as you read and understand the content you will do well!
I did not find her to be helpful in anyway whatsoever. She often did not reply to emails and when asked how to achieve a better grade while using all of the study materials I am aware of I was told to read the book and teach myself.
Took this class on line and she NEVER responds to emails. She often times posted assignments only a few days before they were due. Due dates and expectations are unclear.
Avoid Avoid Avoid. She is very hard to get a hold of. Her tests are brutal and lectures are terrible to sit through.
This is a really hard class, but it wasn't terrible. As long as you put in the time, study really hard before tests, and don't procrastinate you will be fine. I attended a lot of the tutor sessions held by the LA and those were extremely helpful. Go to them if you can- they definitely saved my grade.
This class is really hard but it's going to be hard no matter who you take it with. Cory makes it bearable by giving helpful study guides and will give extra credit. She goes really fast in lecture so be ready to write. She is really nice though and genuinely cares about helping you get to where you want to be.
I had Corey a few years ago for Lab, and she was absolutely fantastic; having said that, she expects her students to put in the effort and does NOT hand out obligatory 4.0 grades to get students into programs. You put forth the effort and act like you care about actually learning something and she will respond in kind. Oh, and she's cute, too!
Cory is nice enough but her lecture style really does not fit well with me. She covers the material VERY quickly, not missing a beat between slides. I had a difficult time trying to process the material and eventually stopped showing up for lecture and taught myself out of the book. Her tests are decently easy though.
There's a lot of reading, but I ended up finding that simply going off of her power points was most helpful. She goes really fast in lecture, so prepare to get frustrated, but she is a solid prof, and her labs are awesome! She expects you to do the work, and earn your grade.
Lectures are extremely dense, she talks fast and you may just want to print the powerpoint bc you'll end up taking 6 pages of notes. Tests are ridiculously hard and the breakdown questions do not actually follow the test. You can tell she really enjoys talking about the subjects though.
Cory Hanley is a very easy BIO 227 instructor if you know how to study. I went to a total of 2 lectures, and got an A on every exam. Most of the reviews on this website are freshman who were not prepared to study hard. An A on the exams is easy if you read the chapters, do the end of the chapter questions, quiz yourself, and read her powerpoints.
She is very nice and really helpful but she talks very fast and her lectures are hard to follow. If you zone out for a few seconds and come back in, you're lost for the entire lecture. Will work with you if you need help but her tests are hard and her homework are easy A's. Overall I liked her, just had a hard time with her tests, and speech speed.
I enjoyed Cory Hanley's class. She does talk very quickly, but if you pay attention it can be an interesting class. Studying is a must! Not an easy class, but if you pay attention when she teaches and keep up with all of your work you can pass with a good grade. Read the chapters assigned.
Cory is so nice. She often seems flustered when class starts but then she quickly gains her footing. Be prepared though because Cory talks super fast and that's not great for an Anatomy and Physiology class. However, Cory is always willing to explain things afterwards. Not super personable but it definitely could be worse
Cory is a great professor. She lectures extremely fast with a lot of info so it's smart to print out her powerpoints, makes it easier to follow along. Although there's a lot covered in class and it's easy to get lost, as long as you utilize the LA sessions and study the content the tests are easy. Attendance isn't mandatory but you get test Q's.
Cory doesnt answer her texts (which she said is her preferred method of contact). Other than the occasional blackboard announcement this professsor is MIA. Shes the final straw as to why Im leaving Boise State. Most of the time it feels like you dont even have a teacher.
Taking Anat. and Phys. online is already a tough prospect. Cory does not make it any easier. I had to teach myself even more as the "lecture slides" that she provided were of no use. Makes me wonder why I would even pay full price for a class where it is fully independent study. Pro tip: don't take A&P online from BSU.
She's a very knowledgeable teacher, and she will gladly answer any questions you have about the subject. However, I can't write fast enough to keep up with her lecturing PowerPoints before she's onto the next slide. Don't take this class if you're taking other difficult classes. This class will take all your study time as it did mine.
She does tests straight out of the book so if you read and mark up the chapters for the test youll be fine. Go to the lectures because she gives out potential test questions and answers word for word each day.
I've had to take both of her Biology and Anatomy courses. Do not take her online courses. Absolute garbage communication.
I took her in 227, and struggled a lot, but 228 has been much easier mainly because you're learning each system of the body and how it works. She still talks fast, so I reverted to taking notes on Word. Class is not mandatory, but it's smart to go and listen. Lecture ppts can be accessed via BB, and she gave one ex credit assignment over break.
I took BIOL227 from her and it's one of the hardest classes I've ever taken. The lecture itself isn't bad, but the lab is borderline impossible to pass. Hope you're good at memorization!
This class is definitely hard, but thats more of the material than the teacher. Its very lecture heavy, but all of the test is over the powerpoints. If you study the slides and really know the material on them youll get an A on the tests. The material is straightforward, as are the tests. Homeworks are easy, a nice boost to your grade.
She is nice so I feel bad about the way that I rated her. However, she states the best way to reach her is by text, no answer. If you read the slides that she has available for you, you do not need to come to lecture. I came to lecture a couple of times but all she did was read off of the slides. That I can do at home in the comfort of my own bed.
This class got really bad reviews for being so hard, but Im not sure why. She has very clear grading criteria, gives her phone number to students in case we need her outside of class, and gives us broken down study guides of exactly whats on the test. Plus, theres lots of extra work to hold your grade up in case you dont do well on tests.
Impossible to get ahold of outside of class. Very nice but if you try and contact her through email or text, you will never get a response. I would take her as opposed to Koob because Hanleys tests are way easier.
Poor excuse for a Professor. Doesnt respond to emails or text messages.
Cory is a great prof. Previous reviews say that her class is hard, thats because the subject is hard. She packs a lot of info into her lectures like any other a&p prof has to but she explains things very well & only tests you on stuff she went over in lecture. No trick questions. She wants you to succeed. I will be taking her again for future class
Attendance isn't really mandatory, but it makes a huge difference if you show up to lecture versus skipping. Hanley's lectures follow the textbooks really closely, so going into lecture is very helpful. She is very nice and always makes time at the end of class for people who have questions or missed something in lecture.
Cory is a great instructor. Go to class, take notes and you will do well. She is incredibly smart and feedback during lectures is always mind-blowing because she can take it to the next level. She is straight forward in her lectures as well as her tests. Study hard and you will do well.
Such an amazing professor! This class is definitely difficult, however Cory is so knowledgable about the content so she makes the experience much less daunting. The exams are hard, but if you show up to class, pay attention to the lectures and take notes, you will succeed! Also highly recommend going to the LA sessions. I would take from her again!
Took BIOL227 and BIOL228 online with her, and she is completely checked out and unreachable after the first week of the semester. She doesn't respond to emails at all, and rarely responds to texts. That being said, if you work hard, read the book and her PPTs, you shouldn't have any issues.
Professor Hanley seems very nice, but as a professor she is completely checked out. She's very frustrating because there is absolutely no way to get ahold of her. I emailed her three times, and texted her over a period of 2.5 weeks and she never returned any of my messages. She offers little resources, and didn't tell us about our LA until halfway.
Do not take a class from this professor if you ever want to get responses to emails. Since the class was online, I was only able to contact her by email, and she never responded to a single email I sent the whole semester. She gives pretty good lectures though, and explains the material well.
Hanley WILL NOT respond to your emails/texts/messages on zoom. However, she does lay out what will be on tests pretty well and offers lots of study guides and practice quizzes. The class itself is hard, but if you take the time to study everything Hanley gives you, an A on every test is achievable.
Probably the best bio 227 teacher you will get at Boise state however I feel like I have taught myself everything just because she does have a lot of family issues pop up (Maybe just because of the whole pandemic happening) but her zooms are not consistent and dont cover all material on test so reading the textbook will get you the grades!
Id rather try to walk through lava than take her class. I tried to email her multiple times to meet, nothing. I watched all of her 3 hour recorded lectures, took notes, red the book, went to LA sessions and couldn't earn a passing grade. Her test are IMPOSSIBLE. Look through the powerpoint & write it all down then hope for the best. DONT DO IT
I took this course over zoom and it was very challenging. I think she genuinely wants her students to succeed and wants to teach us to the best of her ability, she just fell short this semester because of missing lectures and stuff due to family emergencies and other things that inhibited her from teaching all the material. I feel prepared for 228.
Even though this class is lecture heavy, they aren't mandatory. But she was also one of the worst professors I've ever had. She was constantly canceling and rescheduling lectures. She also kept moving exams dates, and never answered any of my emails. Her tests were proctored, and it was extremely frustrating because lectures kept getting canceled.
Hanley is impossible to get ahold of and her SG's do not closely resemble tests. It takes about 2 wks of INTENSE studying to ace her exams, and even then its sometimes not possible. She does drop 1 exam score at the end. There are only a few graded assignments, class is mostly exam-focused. Reading textbook + quilzets only chance of survival
I mean anat & phys is hard as it is and Cory did her best teaching the material. Exams are hard but that wasn't a surprise. Cory is really caring about her students even if it may take some time to respond. Go to the LA sessions they are extra credit. She offers other extra credit too. Study in advance for the exams and you'll pass.
Im very glad I had Cory Hanley as a professor. I was very scared from hearing horror stories about other professors in 227, and I was very lucky to have professor who is so understanding and caring. She extended the test due dates through the weekend, drops your lowest test score, and all work (besides tests and critical learning) was due may 7!
A&P requires dedication. The sheer amount of content covered requires hours of studying, reading, and practicing. Hanley provided more than enough resources to succeed, super helpful. She made accommodations and offered extra credit. Everything is provided, it is up to you. Best advice, don't fall behind. Your grade reflects your effort. Good Luck
This was definitely a hard class, but Professor Hanley was so understanding. She gave us extended time to take the tests, and even offered extra credit. Would definitely take another class from her in the future.
By far the best professor I have ever had. She makes A&P so much easier to comprehend, and is super easy to reach out to. Even in a family emergency she had her students in mind and gave us an extension for all exams. Truly couldn't recommend her enough. Watch the lecture videos and you are golden!!
Cory Hanley is a great person and this course was lecture-heavy. You didn't have to log into Zoom each class and could watch pre-recorded lectures which offered flexibility but this class has a lot of difficult content that you have to spend significant time learning. Hanley is very understanding and extended exam dates for a personal emergencies.
I have had Professor Hanley for 227 and 228. She is a great instructor who cares very much about helping her students. I took 228 online in 7 weeks, and though there were no live lectures, she had all of her lectures recorded from prior classes. Watch the lectures (I used 1.5x speed for time), read the book, and do the homework and you'll do fine.
Absolutely the worst professor I've encountered. She takes 6+ days to respond to emails, she cancels class or makes it remote without notifying us and cancels class when we need it the most. She uses YouTube videos as materials for success. So glad I paid thousands of dollars to watch a video I could've googled for free.
Prof. Hanley was a great lecturer. Personally I needed to attend lectures in person to stay motivated, but they were available online as pre-recorded videos. Stay on top of McGraw Hill and do the readings. You'll do just fine.
Cory is genuinely interested in a&p and that shows in her lectures. Its a hard class but if you put in the work and go to LA sessions youll get a good grade. Cory is understanding and will extend deadlines or reopen assignments. She cancels class sometimes but always posts recordings of what she wouldve lectured on.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. PLEASE. This is the worst class you could take. Horrible teaching and ridiculous expectations. Proctored exam every week. If you don't have 15 hours a week to dedicate to this class, you will not pass tests. It is ridiculously hard. I hate myself. Destroyed my confidence and motivation. I may drop out because of this class.
This professor was absent for about 80% of the semester. She either canceled class or held zoom meetings after giving excuses. When class was held, she would just read off a PowerPoint that we all had access to so it wasn't even worth it to show up. The majority of learning you will do is the hours of mandatory homework and reading PowerPoints.
All homework is due end of semester so that's neat. Professor can be hard to reach but is very knowledgeable. Lenient grader and good amount of extra credit. A&P is one of the most retaken classes because you need to study a lot. Memorize almost every bone, every muscle, and all the major nerves. People don't get that on the first try.
This class is extremely difficult no matter what teacher you take. Corey really helped me succeed in this class because she made her own slideshows instead of using the textbooks. In class she tells you what is on the test and has study guides for each chapter. Overall I could take her again in 228.
She is a great lecturer and often will go more in depth than necessary, but she does it to give a good foundation and solid understanding of the concept. She is awesome to talk to and more than willing to answer questions.
If you have to take 227, pick Hanley, she is best for this class. She extends ALL due dates. Exams are hard but if you study based off the review and attend LA sessions you should do good. I succeeded bc of recorded lectures rather than going in person. Wish she'd offer extra credit though. Lots of students at grades right on the edge of Bs or As
Hanley is the best professor for A&P. The class is tough for everyone but Hanley is the most forgiving. All assignments are due at the end of the semester and the proctored exams are simple. I didn't go to class, I would read the chapter while making a quizlet then do the Smartbook and quiz for the week. Don't forget the critical thinkings.
While Cory is not a super amazing professor, she is the best option available so definitely take her if you can. The class is extremely difficult but Cory provides great lecture slides and test reviews. Homework is due at the end of semester. If you have a job do not take this class, you have to sacrifice so many hours every day to do well.
Presented lectures, all were recorded. Would extend exam due dates after you had taken them. All homework is due at the end of the semester other than that follows the curriculum boise state designed. No extra credit, takes a long time to respond. Anatomy overall is hard and requires time. Exams are multiple choice and proctored from home.
This class is perceived to be hard to pass but it actually isn't. If you study and go to open lab and the LA sessions each week and study outside of school you'll be good. Most people that take this class don't realize how much time you have to put into it. If you have a job while taking this class I suggest you quit. She's the best teacher for 227
As long as you stay on top of the work & study plenty, you should be fine. Definitely attend the LA study sessions as much as you can, they help out a lot. The lectures can be quite lengthy, but they aren't mandatory. Also, make sure you finish the work as you cover the modules since it's really easy to get behind.
Class subject is just tough on it's own. Cory herself is a decent professor who gives your what you need. The exams just take everyone out. It's hard to prepare and exams leave you feeling like you never knew what to study, I recommend getting on quizlets! But it's not Hanley's fault the class content is rough.
This class is very difficult so if you want to pass, I suggest going to all the la sessions and even get a one-on-one tutor. Cory is a good teacher, but the exams take people out since they carry all the weight and homework carries little to no weight. You need at least 20 hours a week for studying if you want to pass since there is so much info.
This class is insane. I knew taking anatomy would be hard but the fact that I signed up for in person classes but yet she always cancelled. We had more zoom then in person classes. There is nothing but textbook work and test.
despite this class being so hard, I think Cory helped me get the grade I got. she had good lectures and i actually learned a lot from. she also provides study guides and lots of materials to help you in this class. going to LA sessions and doing your own studying is KEY to succeeding in this class.
This class was able to be taken in two different ways. One 3-hour long lecture or two 1.5-hour long lectures. If you took the 3-hour long lecture, she canceled class or moved it to Zoom more often than we actually had class, even though it was an in-person class. I only started to do well when I started teaching the topics to myself.
Most people who came to review Cory struggled with Anatomy and Physiology. News Flash: ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY IS A HARD CLASS AND IT IS NOT THE TEACHER'S FAULT! Professor Hanley gives you all the materials, resources, and time needed to succeed. It is up to you to use those materials. She is honestly a fantastic lecture teacher.
GET A 1 ON 1 TUTOR! This is a tough class, but there are a lot of resources out there like 1 on 1 tutoring. My tutor was an LA for the class, and he was really helpful, because he made a weekly schedule for me and focused on things that I would likely see on the tests.
Cory Hanley is by far the best professor for this class. This course is very difficult but Cory wants her students to understand the material! Her video lectures were the most helpful and the LA sessions were good too!
I absolutely hated bio 227, but I would've hated it more had I not taken it with Hanley. The bio department at boise state is terrible, but Hanley is your best bet with this class. She was very accommodating. I skipped lecture a lot because I don't learn from people simply repeating informatiom. However, I definitely recommend her over Anyone else.
I retook this class and taking it with Hanley made it so much more bearable. She will practically tell you whats not on the test during lecture and is willing to extend exams. She is entertaining even during boring topics and is a very good professor.
THIS CLASS IS SO HARD. Although,Cory is a great professor that truly wants students to succeed. She offers so many great resources to help pass this class and its up to you to put in the WORK to pass. I recommend going to LA sessions and possibly getting a personal tutor to further help understand difficult concepts.
Biol 227 is hard no matter who you take it with, however, Hanely made it easy. I took both lecture and lab online, and I'm taking 228 online as well. The labs were easy. I would spend the day doing her exam reviews right before taking the exam, and it helped me a lot. Lab and lecture exams were proctored by proctorio.
I have heard this is a very hard class to pass, but that wasnt my experience. She sets the course up to make it as easy as possible. You get alot of automatic 100% for just doing the assignment. There are 5 lecture exams and those are hard but you just have to study. The lab portion is a whole other class that was honestly more time consuming.
Professor Hanley sincerely wants her students to be successful in a difficult class. Students have to put in the work to understand the concepts but as a professor she provides a lot of resources and good lectures to help you get through it.
Cory is a great professor. This course can be easy if you take the time to study for it. She gives you all the information you will need to be successful in this course. ATTEND LA SESSIONS EVERY WEEK!!
I took her for Biol 227 & 228 online. The subject is hard no matter who you take it with, but she breaks it down for you. She changed all due dates, including exams, to finals week, which was nice. She gave 10 extra credit points, which helped a lot. All exams are proctored and fairly graded.
Remember when signing up for this class, it is going to be hard no matter which professor you take. However Cory is the best for A&P. She is extremely organized and knows exactly what she is lecturing about. Her tests are about what she lectures on so if you read the textbook and study her slides, you will be more than prepared for the test.
she is a great professor, she just seemed a little scatter brained this semester. super sweet and very accessible for students.
Cory is great with her students and wants to help them succeed. Things are pretty straight forward to follow along with, the exams were a struggle for me personally but she lectures well overall and wants to help where she can!
She clearly knows what she is talking about. Bio is a challenging class but she lays it out pretty well. Could be a bit more engaging. Typically just reads right off the slides but her information directly relates to the exams. As long as you apply yourself you will do great! Test are taken at home but are proctored with a camera.
The professor is GOOD at lectures. Do not use ProctorU!!! So, there are lots of issues with the proctor they use because they can not go to the testing center. The majority of campus computers do not like the proctor they use. It is HARD to get A HOLD of, he has NO office and DOES NOT respond quickly to emails.
I wanted to die taking this class. She is the worst professor I have ever had and cant imagine anyone being worse than her. She doesn't explain anything, and the things she says to review is never on the test, and you can never know what to study. There is a reason its a high fail class, it wouldn't be too hard if she taught better.
Honestly the class is just hard in general. She lectures and has slides but she just lectures for the entire class period and she goes really fast. If you are going to take the class you should write notes in advance based on the slides and then add in what she discusses during the lecture. (The exams are absolutely insanely difficult).
amazing and very reasonable if you need an extension, just read the book and go to lecture!
She gave 10 point super easy extra credit at end and also 40 extra points to everyone in the class because apparently other professors let you correct your exams while she didn't. What you were supposed to do was clear. Look at this girls "Sydneymclean304050" quizlet, it saved me. Whole class is just memorization, just don't fall behind in studying
If you weren't religious before taking this class, pick one and start praying. especially if you choose this professor. maybe pick two honestly...
Not very caring, canceled class often, read directly from slideshow, didn't offer anything to students
I knew that anatomy was going to be hard, but Hanley made it simple. Her lecture slides were super helpful for the exams, and she is very easy to talk to. Hanley really cares about her students, that is one of the reasons why I think she is an amazing professor. I recommend getting a tutor, and go to LA sessions, it will help you prepare for exams
Take Hanley for Anatomy! I had her in spring for Bio 227 and am currently in her online Bio 228 course. This class is hard, but she makes it doable. She only quizzes on what she covers in lectures- and she knows the content well. Reasonable amounts of homework. Also very kind and easy to work with. *If you are struggling, go to LA sessions!
I took Hanley in the spring semester for 227, and decided to take Hanley's class again, which is BIOL 228 this summer class. I liked how Hanley gave us a schedule to do this and that, because it made me feel more organized. The exams were hard, so just study everyday and you should be good. She also gave us extra credit assignments. Best professor!
bro just yaps about everything, will talk about one google slide for 20 minutes, over explains everything and over complicates it.
