He's a good teacher; he likes to crack a joke here and there to lighten the mood. He allows you to retype your essays and is very understanding. His comments on each essay are direct and helpful; he's very caring and attentive. turn in your assignments and be prompt to class. i recommend him to anyone.
Great professor. He wants his students to succeed. He is helpful, nice, funny, and cute.
not really explaining the materials throughly, though he told students to make essay about it
He is a really good teacher.
come to class & turn your work in on time but he is a very good teacher
For me this class was king of hard because he was to demanding on our essays. He wants you not to have alot of mistakes. Most of my essays were like alright and I got D's. If your good in writing essays go ahead and take him. But if ur not don't even bother.
This teacher is great. Very organized, goes with the syllabus and his grading is a bit tough. Just do all your journals participate and youll pass for sure. He does crack a couple jokes here and there but overall hes good he cares
He is really really hard expects to much on the essays but he gives you enough time to correct your mistakes his grading is very strict so dont expect an A on every essay you write
He's a nice teacher, but not easy grade. If you want to learn something take his class.
He is very hard to pass. do not take him. stup ax ever
he is so nice and great teacher, but he has never given an A. u can learn clearl in his class, and u will be hard. u only get a C.
he is so nice and kind, but he gives D in each essay everyone. at the end, u will get C only.
He's a kind, nice professor..He lets u do rewrite to get a better grade. He's always willing to help you in office hour. His office hours are diversity. Just go to his office as much as u can and u will get an A ^^
He is a hard grader. You will feel like S**t because he doesnt give A's or Bs. He gives D's and C's in essays do not take him.
He is a very nice professor. His grading is extremly hard. Unless you are an english major I dont recommend.
He is very nice, but his grading is freaking hard. I do not recommend him. Take Mr. Joseph insteadddd!
He is a nice proffessor, willing to help you. Lets you re-write your essays. But he is such a hard grader. He hardly gives any A's or B's on essays. Just gives C's, D's and even Fails. suggest take another proffessor.
He is a very nice professor and he is willing to work with you and offers his help. You will actually become a better writer if you attend class.
He's really nice, perfect teacher. I was really enjoy in his class. If you really want to learn something, take him.
Youngblood is definitely without question the best English professor I?ve ever had. His assignments were current, relevant, and fun to argue in class. When it came to political views he was very fair and?unlike others?did not judge/grade you on it. His grading isn?t the easiest but if you go to office hours he spends a lot of time (I?m talking hour
He's a good professor, one of the best I've had. The class was a little difficult because I hadn't taken any English classes for a while, which means that I had lost the rhythm. He's grading style is somewhat difficult, but if you go to class and participate a lot during discussion time, you will write accordingly to his expectations.
He's a great teacher. He grades tough but if you listen to his constructive critisism and follow his directions you will do fine. Also he lets you re-write essays which can be helpful. He's intellegent and if you apply yourself in his class you should do well.
Youngblood is an actual teacher who educates his students with useful information about the world and really helps you to read between the lines, grades on the difficult side but you will definately learn a thing or 2 in his class HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Great instructor! The reading material he gives out is very interesting and will hook you in, even if you don't like to read. Very helpful, very knowledgeable, and awkwardly humorous. Tip: Turn in your essays ON TIME to be able to do rewrites on them! Fun class and a pleasure to have as an instructor.
Prof Youngblood is very organized and prepared. The discussions in class is intersesting and current. Do need to apply yourself to the class to get a good grade. Don't wait until the last minute to rewrite the essays. Not as hard as others commended. Highly recommend!
Professor Youngblood is a brilliant professor. Aside from helping me become a better and more confident writer, he helped me developed a better appreciation for reading.
he's a very good teacher his lectures are sometimes long but he sure makes them fun although he goes off subject a lot his stories are interesting and sometimes he can make some very rude remarks or comments but otherwise then that he's a good teacher.
He is an amazing prof!!Very clear in what he expects! NOT A HARD CLASS!! Just do the reading and assignments..He is very helpful. Buy the book, participate, and go to class, you'll PASS!!!
Youngblood is alright. He's not very clear on what he expects but makes the readings very intriguing. cute but wouldn't take him again
really good teacher
Mr. Youngblood's lectures are fantastic. He is a great listener and feeds off his student's ideas because he takes them into account then he properly incorporates them with his ideas. Brilliant guy. My favorite teacher of all time. Cooperate with his assigned syllabus and you will be rewarded with great knowledge. I strongly recommend to take him
One of the best instructors I've had at ELAC. I came in very afraid to write an essay again but this class made me gain confidence in my writing. Very helpful and gives good constructive criticism. lectures are interesting and about current events.Essay grading wasn't too tough and he allows re-writes. Very humorous man. Highly recommended!
tough grader!!!! but he will make you a better writter! hardly gives As in essays. good class discussions and great personality.
His essays are very broad which posed a problem for me at first. But has helped me with critical thinking in Eng 103. He's helpful with any questions and will guide you along the thesis process if you ask for it. The readings aren't that bad, but the discussions weren't that exciting. Good professor if you put in the required effort.
Picky grader. Will tell straight out he does not usually give A's on essays. Lectures are fun and interesting, but if you struggle with grammar, he's not the instructor to take.
This is the worst professor I ever had!!!!!!!!! Couldn't understand exactly what he wanted and when he explained it still wouldn't help! i honestly don't recommend hiim at all!
He a great Teacher, his class may be a bit boring but what do you expect its college. his grading is strictly on essays he wants to see your improvement. He allows you to redo 3 or 4 of your essays including midterm. He also offers to help improve your essay. Students who complain are simply lazy. Took him twice including Eng101
Tough grader! But he is very helpful when it comes to re writing essays. If you want to improve your writing skills, taking his class will help. Don't expect to get a good grade by not taking the class seriously and writing your essay last minute. Overall, he's great!
well, if your looking for an easy english instructor i dont reccomend Youngblood. he challenges you to be better than what you think you are. the class and his lectures can get boring, but are helpful. if you wish to better your english skills i recommend him.
great professor. I took english 101 with him in Fall 2013. hes not the easiest professor but it is possible to pass the class. make sure to read the assignments. He is very critical with the usage of quotes and how they are presented.
Grades hard.
He is a really hard greater, and always making unwelcoming comments. I did not enjoy his class at all. At the beginning of the semester there were 33 students,at the end of the semester there was approx 12 to 15 students left. By mid semester he told me that I was doing good and at the end he didn't passed me. What a waste!
He's the best English teacher in the world, hard grader but really helpful. I took his class in summer years ago, but his influences never stop.
His class and lectures can be boring sometimes but he's funny sometimes. He is a tough grader but if you go to his office hours you'll definitively11 get the help you want. Gives chances to rewrite essays to get a better score. If you really put effort into the class you'll pass.
Youngblood is an extraordinary professor. I took him this last spring and he gives you chances to rewrite all your eassys. He wants you to do better and learn from all your previous mistakes. Yes he is a tough grader but if you are consistent with rewriting your essays and do all your work he will pass you. He is a genuine man and a very sweet pers
funny teacher. lets you rewrite an essay if you turn it in by the specific date stated in the syllabus. always offers his office hours and any help he can.
Omg this teacher taught me aalloottt. He hates when students writes "cause" instead of "because" in their essays so be aware of that. Dont take ur phone out in class or else he will catch. iiifff you keep on doing the rewrites and attending to office hours when you need to. I guarantee he is going to pass you and if he see's you that your trying.
Visiting office hours helped a lot. He also makes sure that your prepared for next English level.
No good professor hes confusing
At the beginnings, I was almost gave up and tried to drop the class. The first 4 essays, I did not even got one approved and get credit for. I thought I was not ready for this level. However, the professor always gives change of re-write the essays. I need to spend 4-5 times more effect to rewrite and rewrite my essays, finally, passing the class
Essays aren't to difficult, passed his class although i wasn't trying it was fairly easy. As long as you feel confident in essay writing its an easy class. side note he can make rude comments at times, just take it as a joke. he did embarrass me personally a few times in class but no harm done really.
Essay due every week. he expect you to be perfect. my advice would be to not take him in the summer
Took him twice and at first I wasn't passing, he lets you rewrite your essays and gives you good feedback on why you didn't pass. Just stay on topic and focus on your main point and you'll do fine. I do not recommend taking his classes in the summer or winter because essays are due every week and you might not have time to rewrite other essays.
youngblood is a great english professor. all his material is basically from the short readings he assigns, and his lectures from class. he's funny and not boring at all. i'd really reccomend his class to anyone. lets you rewrite your essays throughout the semester, and answers emails quickly unlike most profs lol
When he gives you your essay back, he gives good feedback and follow his instructions. In order to get an A, will most likely have to do 1-2 rewrite depending how well you write and how well you follow his direction on the returned essay. If you take his class, you will have to work for it. -Took him for summer
Let me get this straight, this teacher is a bit difficult but he will help you during office hours. He is a great english professor and will prepare for English 101. I took him during summer and I would encourage you to do the same because you will learn alot from him. He is a serious professor; do not come to class late or departure early.
He is very honest in feedback and cuts you a lot of slack. His grading policy is great I turned in all my essays late and still received an A. He allows you to rewrite to still give you a chance to pass that essay. Make sure you go to office hours.
Youngblood keeps it real with everyone, he is about that hard life. sincerely, Gang Gang Blood
He is a tough grader but he does have a very reasonable re write policy. Most students hate his hard grading criteria BUT personally his judgement did make me learn. By doing this he showed me how I can improve. He does say a lot of sex related jokes, but does not say them directly to anyone. If these jokes offend you then yea.. dont sign up
Extremely hard. gave no extra credit, and failed every single exam just so we can rewrite it.
He has a weird way of grading papers. He will give the option of redoing all essays, but it requires a lot of dedication.
Youre graded on a few things. Those things being just written essays, that are only worth one point! Its difficult to get a passing grade in his class, but he is funny though and not boring to listen to.
His lectures always go off on a tangent and he doesn't really explain what English 28 is about. His grading technique is not the best. For your essay, you either get a 0 or a 1, there is no in between and seeing that really discourages some people.
Excellent service.
Tough grader, and difficult to pass. Gets off topic a lot when lecturing. Funny with a weird x-rated sense of humor. He can get boring at times when discussing book readings.
Youngblood is the awesome but is not really easy. If you try you will pass but it takes some effort to get an A. He makes you think and he cares a great deal for his students.
Had him for winter, he gave 4 long essays where his grading scale gives your essay just 1 point, he reads parts of the reading and brings up some things where he gets of topic most times. Brings up jokes now and then. Never take your time on any essay or it could pile up and also he gave rewriting of the previous essays as well.
Youngblood gives his students plenty of opportunities to rewrite their essays. Just remember to visit his office hours and you wont regret taking his class. Btw hes very caring.
He likes to get funny in class, but is more of a "ima get personal" type rather than professional. I didn't really improve my reading and writing skills and I didn't like this semester. I didn't really learn as much as I wanted (learned a lil). I did appreciate his feedback though! But it was not as helpful. Chill guy, but not a prof I would want.
One of a kind teacher that you rarely encounter in your lifetime. He cares about his students and acknowledges their effort and devotion to his classes. I wish he could teach more courses.
With all honesty if you take him you must be prepared for heavy lectures as in him talking about readings assigned the day before for homework. There isnt any quizzes or test except for one midterm and the final . For writing he has about 4 essays . The thing is he grades differently from other professors its either a 0 or 1 he gives you chances
To rewrite them but you definitely get unmotivated with how he grades . All we do for class is summarize previous readings so it can be a bit boring . He never misses and is always there on time. You can get discouraged by the middle of his class and want to give up . Im surprised I even passed this class but Im glad I did worked hard on my essay
Hes a great, caring person, one who doesnt want you to fail, one who encourages a great deal for his students to ask questions, and hes hilarious. HOWEVER, if it werent for me already knowing the course i wouldnt have gotten an A. He doesnt teach much he just discusses the readings and shines a light on your mistakes on the essays review commas.
As a non traditional student, coming back to school was a bit intimidating. However, after taking this class, I am back to feeling confident in myself from Mr. Younglbood's attentiveness and inspiring lectures. Professor is very considerate of students and grading can be a little difficult but time is given to improve your grade which is great!
Great Prof. i wish i could take him for Eng. 103 but it wont fit with my schedule. Not a tough grader, if you show that you have what he is looking for in the paper you get the point for it sounds pretty easy to me. If you don't get the point literally just go to him after class and he will tell you how to fix it. Free A
He is a good person but the way he grades is really bad its either you get a 1 or no credit
MLA format & Grammar focus was until mid semester instead of the beginning, be prepared to write first couple of essays without support, but he will allow to make up for a better grade. Get ready to write.
I wish I could give him a 0. He only grades by a 2-point system, meaning your grades will change drastically if you fail one. Even if he says to reach out to him for questions, don't even bother as he will dismiss you & tell you to go to the writing center instead. Worst professor ever - he's unfair & brutal. Take another professor if you can.
I took Youngblood twice and he is pretty consistent with grading and how much work should be done. the lectures were pretty engaging and helpful in getting the work done and learning. Its pretty hard to fail his class unless you don't put any effort in your essay or ignore his feedback.
Loved his class! It was online with one discussion board a week and two medium-length readings with a 200-word response on each reading. Super organized and he doesn't assign any other homework in a week if you have a big paper due. Start early on the assignments and you should do fine. He's pretty accessible and he requires one cheap textbook.
One essay per week; good feedback but stressful
Professor Youngblood takes pride in his work and it shows. His lectures/discussions are incredibly engaging and the assigned readings are based on modern-day issues. We had around 5 essays and with each essay he provided great feedback. He gives until the last week of the term to redo assignments or turn in late work. Truly a teacher who cares.
Be prepared to read and write. I was not as prepared as I thought but he was a tremendous help with his feedback, guidance, and instruction. This professor really does care but does grade strictly. He will give you all the help you need but you must do the work to pass. It is not an easy class but you can pass if you put in the work.
His class is fun, and he talks passionately, but he is a hard grader. He lets you send him your thesis and get feedback on how to fix it. When he grades every little thing counts.
Never thought I was going to experience this but his particular political views spill into the class and is anti make anti masculinity it's a bit annoying. But other then that clear on grading system, get ready to read and lots of hw
I would have to say that the workload for the course is heavy and requires high commitment. The class is composed of seven readings/discussions with one essay every week (additional one for final). The professor gives very insightful guidances and feedbacks on essays and gives opportunities for revision.
Took 101 &103 and I cannot emphasize enough how much your writing will improve from his assignments, feedback, and lectures. He has a lot of patience and goes out of his way to give you extra material or explanations if needed. The 103 class will genuinely improve your critical thinking skills and the readings are very relevant and important
