She is on task, very cheerful, and makes class fun. She was always willing to work with the students and cared about the students gaining an appreciation for art. If you use flash cards and memorize the art you will get an A.
She is knowledgeable and goes out of her way to help her students. I'm taking her again because she really makes art history interesting. She tells funny stories and even brings in applicable movie clips!
i had her for art history form the ren. she was extreamly helpful and is extreamly positive. you take 3 tests and then the final. one of the 3 tests you can drop. the final isn't any harder then her tests. just studie the dates and****. and artist and you'll get an A no problem.
Take good notes and attend every class even though roll isn't taken. Be sure to know names, titles and dates. Test are all essay I suggest forming a study group. Courtney is a very kind and helpful teacher. She tries to make her lectures very interesting.
She is awesome and very enthusiastic. Tests are pretty hard because you have to memorize dates, artists, titles, and genres of 20+ works each test. It's still probably my favorite class ever because she is very clear and class is fun. Take this class if you have time to study!
courtney is such an awesome teacher!! i had zero interest in art history before this class; however, now i have found art to be quite interesting. she is very passionate about art history and she makes the class as interesting as possible. not a very hard class if you pay attention and take notes. she reviews for all the tests. take her class!!
anemated loves what she is teaching
Awesome, Awesome professor! If you want to take Art History, take it from her. Just make sure you go to class and take good notes. You won't really need to use the text if you actively pay attention to lectures. Very passionate about teaching, and her lectures are a blast to listen to. You will LOVE Art History if you take it from her!
I LOVE THIS TEACHER! she is passionate about her subject and so it makes it so enjoyable to listen to her talk about it. if you go to class and study hard for the tests you will get a good great. she makes you write a paper, keep a journal and her tests have short essays but they are easy. i've heard her test are easier than the other AH teachers.
Courtney is the best teacher! She is so passionate about the subject which makes it really interesting. I would highly recommend her.
One of those rare teachers that sincerely care about what they are doing. Very charismatic, intelligent, and affable (and the most beautiful lawyer I've ever seen). Tests are hard, but fair. If you do more than just memorize things, and actually learn how and why cultures affect art, you'll get alot more out of the class than just a grade.
I really enjoyed this class. If you make sure to study for the tests, you will do well! It is a lot of work, but she keeps things interesting. She really cares a lot about her subject and is a lot of fun!
Professor Davis made EVERY class session to be a delightful experience. She was able to provide an ambiance that fully connected with her students in understanding art history and its transition leading toward the 21st century. Her expectations challenged to take the extra step in studying and reviewing for an exam.
She is just wonderful! I am not even an art major, I'm more math person, but this class is my best class I ever had. Easy Test, fun paper, I even enjoyed the tests :) If you need to take Civilization course for BYU transfer credit, take her class. I am so sad that I cannot take class from her anymore..
If you like art history you'll enjoy her class. The tests can be hard if you are not prepared and do not study properly. I'm taking another class from her and I'm looking forward to it.
Awesome class! One of my favs! You learn so much! Her lectures are fun and interesting! Her tests are fairly hard, but if you study well then you'll be fine! Even if you're not big into art history you'll still enjoy it. Very informative! Take it!
Courtney is great! She doesn't give you homework except one paper near the end of the semester. She is helpful and great. Her exams are a little tough but as long as you study and take good notes you will do just fine. BRING A LAPTOP TO CLASS! Take her classes! She told us to buy the book but I never used mine once.
Take from Courtney! She is such a people person and teaches really well! Tests are hard but there are no quizzes and only one short paper! I studied hard for the tests and got no lower than a 90%, go to review days! I used my text book to study from and I got the earlier edition and did just fine with it! Best of all, you will enjoy her classes!
I took both 2710 and 2720 classes (in 1 semester)from her and did great in both thanks to her! She loves teaching and cares for each student! If you have a choice take her in a smaller class setting, she is more personable but the larger class settings are almost as good! A+ teacher!
I took both her classes this semester back to back (ARTH 2710 & 2720) I liked both classes, but enjoyed and did better in 2720. She is an awesome teacher. She is fun to listen to and really makes you love the art. The tests are a little hard, all essay, but if you study enough you'll do fine. You really want to be there on Test Review days other th
Courtney is an AMAZING teacher. She makes it very fun and extremely interesting. The tests are brutal but if you attend all classes, take good notes, and go to the review . . . no problem. I am amazed at the way the information she taught has stuck.
She is an awesome teacher. Tests are challenging, but if you pay attention and study your notes, their not that bad.
Courtney sets you up to succeed in this class. Very clear about what to expect on tests ect. You can tell she is passionate about art and its kind of contageous. Will definately take from her again! Tests are hell.
Courtney is very passionate about art. She is also very eccentric and fun! She makes funny comments in class and is very laid back. Take super detailed notes in class because on the tests you have to be pretty dang thorough! But if you pay attention, study, and attend class, you will be good!
Courtney is awesome! I definitely recommend her. If you go to class and take thorough notes the tests are not that bad. Tests are essay style-which I prefer because it's easier to succeed! You'll love her!
Courtney Davis is the most informative, fun, eccentric and helpful teacher that I have ever had. The test were not easy but not too hard. She has instilled in me a love and appreciation for art history that I feel like I could have not gotten anywhere else. She was "gooood". ;)
WOW, take this class. One of the best at UVU. She really knows how to teach! :)
AWESOME! ONE OF THE BEST! SHE LOVES WHAT SHE DOES AND IS VERY GOOD AT IT... HIGHLY RECOMMEND :)
BEST TEACHER! She loves what she teaches and makes it interesting. Her tests are hard, but if you study you do well. She has great reviews before the test. Very helpful teacher! made me love ancient art!
davis is a great teacher. she made boring art history semi enjoyable. her tests are the hardest things ive ever taken. they take about 3 hours and a full test book to get a decent grade.
Courtney is the best teacher I have ever had! She is not only an amazing teacher, but really cares about the success of her students. She is also incredibly kind! I have never felt comfortable talking to any teacher one on one, but Courtney is very approachable and non-judgmental in one-on-one interactions!
Awesome, Awesome teacher! Great class, one of UVU's best.
Courtney is my favorite teacher ever! she always has the funniest jokes, and clearly loves teaching. Loves students, and overall a perfect teacher! Well done Ms. Davis!
She was awesome! HIGHLY recommend taking your art history classes from her. Study hard and you'll pass!
Her class is not mandatory because she "believes in freedom". She's hilarious and she has such a great passion for what she does. You'll learn a lot more than you could have expected and you'll fall in love with the history of Art -- seriously. She's awesome. TAKE HER CLASS (Take really good notes for the tests)!
Courtney makes Art History fun. She is entertaining and upbeat. She listens and responds well to comments and questions. The first test was very time consuming, but it is a good trade off for me to have no homework or quizzes. I hope to take more of her classes.
Courtney teaches the class very well and makes the subject interesting. Her tests are hard but if you study and take good notes you'll be fine. She is very passionate about what she does and loves teaching. Recommend her for art history.
She is the best and enthusiastic teacher I have ever had!
I loved this class! It's fairly easy-- even if you miss a class and don't have notes, she reviews it on the test review day. The only thing that makes this class hard is making sure you can find time to study very intently for a test! Her tests are really easy if you have done your work. Overall, i really loved her class and would recommend her!
Courtney is the best teacher at UVU. You will need to take good notes because the tests make you state everything you know, but you won't mind. You learn a ton and she is just a very interesting person. TAKE HER!
Courtney is super! She has perhaps the most friendly personality of almost any professor I have ever had. She's funny, too! If I had space in my schedule, I would take another one of her classes, just because her lectures are so interesting...that's how good she is! If you didn't like Art History before this class... you will!
I marked mandatory attendance, which ins't neccesarily true in the sense she doesn't take roll, but you will want to be there for lectures or you won't pass the class. She's amazing and hilarious and puts life into the subject and is sooo willing to help students out. Tests are hard... and they are couple hours long or so....but she preps you well.
Courtney is a fantastic teacher-she constructed her assignments in a way that helped me learn and understand art history rather than learn enough to just pass a test. She is so passionate about art herself that it makes you want to learn more about it.I would recommend her to everyone. I hope to be able to take another class from her in the future.
Probably my favorite teacher I have ever had. Incredibly intelligent and passionate. The class is not easy, but it's very worth it.
Courtney is boss! Her lectures are amazing. I never got bored in her class, I took both Art to the Renaissance and Art from the Renaissance. I definetly plan on taking more Art history classes from her. Take her class! Study for the tests, take notes in class and you'll be sure to get an A. No problem.
FANTASTIC!! Her lectures are wonderful. All of her passion for Art History keeps the class from being boring. She is very on the ball and sticks to the schedule very closely.
The best instructor at UVU. You must take her class, if you want a really good experience in your art history.
BEST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!!!! Seriously... no joke... and she is beautiful and witty.. what more could you ask for? Tests are hard only if you don't go to class.. She asks questions on her exams that actually show what YOU learned as opposed to memorizing stupid stuff... She simply is the BEST!!
I loved this class which is surprising because it's art history. She is an amazing teacher. She's excited about what she is teaching and funny. I actually looked forward to this class. This class is pretty easy if you go to class, take good notes, and study for the tests. The test are long but easy if you just study. She does great reviews too!
Amazing professor! She's knows her stuff and makes sure that you will know too. Although, it is not mandatory to show up to class, believe me you'll need the good notes for the tests. She clarify's on any assignments. I'm not into art history, but she I learned so much, she helps you explore art. I'm signing up for another class just for fun!
Amazing amazing amazing! Courtney really changed the way I felt about art history and made me want to learn more an travel the world to see what I learned in class. She is so clear on what she expects. You really do have to study since the exams are all essay but trust me its so much better than a scan-tron test. Loved this class! Highly recommend.
Awesome teacher, really loves what she is teaching. I really look forward to go to class. Take good notes and go to class.
Courtney is very excited and passionate all the time. It keeps class interesting. The tests are easy if you attend class and study the art works.
Amazing teacher! so energetic and knows her stuff. She is so helpful and willing to give time to students and help them out.
Amazing. Amazing. AMAZING! I loved all her classes. I took as many as I could from her. I went through a bad case of depression and I ended up reaching out to her because I felt so horrible for not going most of the time and she told me a few thinga that have stuck with me personally and I will always be grateful for that. She saved me.
This was easily the best class I've ever taken, and it was all thanks to Courtney. She was an incredible. Enthusiastic, helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. I'm not even an art student, and I am already searching for any other class taught by her. I've never learned more, or been so excited to go to class. Study hard for the 3 exams.
Best Class that I have taken at UVU. Courtney is so enthusiastic about the topic and makes everyone else in class excited about it too. The tests are long but as long as you study and learn what is clearly laid out for you they aren't really that hard. I really just want to take another one of her classes for fun. She is great!
I had to drop this class the first time with Dewitt, but I'm glad I was able to take it again from Courtney. She's definitely passionate about art and art history, and while attendance isn't mandatory, it helps with preparing for the tests. You'll learn a lot about both the art as well as the history surrounding it. 1010 would take again.
I am finishing up my Senior year and Courtney Davis is the best teacher I have had! She is very knowledgeable and fair. I love her lectures!
Prof. Davis was enthusiastic about the material and it came through in the lectures.
Courtney is fantastic and really passionate. Her tests are insanely hard and literally take hours at the testing center. There is no homework, quizzes or attendance but if you don't go you'll be sorry. Take great notes and be ready to memorize a lot of art facts. Study guides are exactly what's on the test but trust me, it's a lot.
tests are pretty wild, require loads of memorization, So if thats not your thing, dont take this class. She wants her students to succeed and get a good grade. Good to her students.
Courtney Davis is hands down the BEST teacher I have ever had! I have taken every single class from her that she has offered. I am kind of obsessed. She is quirky, fun to listen to, and passionate about what she does. She will make you want to be an Art History major. Tests are hard, but if you study, you will do well in her class.
If you go to class and take good notes, you don't need to read the book, and that combined with her reviews make the tests very straight forward. Her lectures are exciting and engaging. The art project was a blast. Loved everything about this class!
Courtney reallly helped me to appreciate art, and I felt like I really learned a lot. I wasn't expecting a lot from this class. Fortunately, it became the best part of my day. The book is really helpful, but definitely show up to class and get the notes. They really help on the tests. The tests are long and hard, but study and you will be fine.
This class helped me gain a new appreciation for art. I made sure to show up to class and take detailed notes about everything she said. It really helps on the test. Make sure to keep your notes organized to study for the tests. The tests are a couple hours long and all hand written, but besides a paper, they are the only things you have to turn in
Best teacher I've ever had! Life changing. She's so excited/passionate about the subject she makes you want to major in art history. Cares about students and wants them to succeed. Tests are long but if you take notes they are fairly easy. She posts audio reviews before tests which are super helpful. Lectures are amazing! You won't be disappointed.
You will never meet a more passionate professor. She LOVES her subject and that love is contagious. If you pay attention and take notes you shouldn't need a book but if you get distracted easily the book is a must.
I love Courtney so much that I would marry her. She is the nicest vampire goth princess I've ever met and genuinely cares about her students. She loves art history so much that she inspires her students to accidentally learn a butt load of information. The tests can be difficult, but if you go and learn (which is easy, w her) they are a breeze.
Courtney is one of my top two favorite prof's at UVU. She is energetic, passionate, knowledgeable, and so friendly. Her classes are not to be under estimated as her tests require memorization and lots of prep, as well as the term paper. That being said, she gives clear expectations and gives great feed back to help you. Overall, she's fantastic.
I loved taking my Art History class from Courtney Davis! She actually is the reason I switched to Art History!
Worst subject becomes most loved. If teaching was an art, she has mastered it!! She teaches to the visual, auditory, kin-esthetic, and read/write methods of learning. I'm aware that I learn differently than most, but it is not an issue in her class! Her syllabus is a phenomenal tool for success. 4 exams, 1 paper, and in class group assignments.
This is my second time taking a class from Courtney, and she will never fail at making what she teaches so interesting. She could teach about the origin of a sack of potatoes and I would love it. She makes expectations very clear, but her tests do require a lot of memorization and study. If dedicated to the class it's very manageable to get an A.
Courtney is AMAZING! All my life history has been really difficult for me, even I left those for the end because I felt that it was the hardest subject for me. I was mad, lazy, and even bored just about thinking in those classes. Honestly I tried different professors, none of them were as creative and professional as Courtney was. She is the BEST!
AMAZING instructor. I previously took this class with a different profesor and HATED IT. I was completely turned off with Art and Art history and all that until I took this class. Courtney is SO passionate about what she teaches that its nearly impossible not to get pumped with her. Its almost a contagious class her passion rubs off on you. 10/10
Courtney is a great teacher and is passionate about art. She is caring and funny. She is very organized and clear about what is expected for exams, assignments and the term paper. Attend class, take extensive notes, and study hard for the tests. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you need to be there every day to do well. This was a hard class but fun
Courtney is such a fun teacher to have. She cares so much about what she teaches and it rubs off on everyone in the class. I have learned SO much from her! Her tests are different as she likes you to memorize very specific details, but once you get the hang out it you can score very high. She is the best!!
Has a great knack for teaching large amounts of info in ways that's easy to understand, and is also fun and hilarious so class is very enjoyable. She is kind, respectful, very knowledgable, and strives to foster a welcoming environment where discussion is open and loves to answer any and all questions as best as she can. She really cares!
Courtney is passionate about the subject & lectures in a way that makes it interesting & enjoyable! She gives great feedback & study guides for the tests! Definitely start studying asap & the tests will be a breeze! Flashcards are super helpful! She also offers extra credit! Only 3 non-comprehensive tests & 2 short essays! Pay attention Easy A!
I would literally die for Courtney. Everyone always told me "If you're in art, you gotta take a class from Courtney." And they were right! She is the best professor I've had in all my academic career. She is intelligent, passionate, interesting, fun, and really cares about her students and want's them to succeed. 1,000,000,000/10 would recommend.
Professor Davis is very passionate about this subject which made her lectures engaging. She also provides detailed and clear feedback on assignments, making sure to mention strengths as well as things to work on. However, it was overwhelming to keep up with the 15 fairly large essays assigned throughout the class. Great teacher, too much writing.
Courtney has been the most knowledge and effective professor I've had in her understanding and use of the Canvas app. Lesson plans are extremely organized. Weekly reading, videos, full credit quizzes, and short papers. Most work can be resubmitted before the due date. Courtney is very reliable on grading and providing quick and useful feedback.
