She is awful. She doesn't know how to to teach. she can't explain anything and she gets mad whenever people don't understand what is going on in the class and threatens you with quizzes. She tells you that it is your choice to come to class or not, but when you don't so up she tries to punish you. DO NOT take her.
She is the absolute worst! She doesn't know how to teach and you have to constantly correct her on stuff. She tells you to read the book but then contradicts what it says and tells you to use her way. She doesn't clarify the material at all like she expects you to know. DO NOT TAKE HER...SERIOUSLY!!!
She is a very poor teacher, and definitely needs to work on her teaching skills. I agree with the first comment completely, when you don't understand something she'll give you a quiz, making your grade worse. I had to drop the class so as not to kill my GPA. I would never take her again!
HAHA, all these people below must have been in the classes that didn't ask questions. She says, "If you don't ask questions I'm going to assume you all know it, there for you wouldn't have a problem with a quiz." My class asked questions and we've only had ONE quiz, compared to the other classes that have them all the time. gives EC, not bad, TAKE
Avoid at all costs, really! A disaster of a class, if you need to take stats, take it from someone else, do not say you havent been warned
I think she could be better if she had some experience under her, it's a classroom-not a business. Do you make your employees cry?
started out nice and sweet, then became mean. polled us to see what we were having trouble in, we told her and she wouldnt do anything to help, just told us to read the book. grilled a girl who asked a question and wouldnt let anyone help answer it, threated to give an XF in course if you borrowed a pencil before test was given out, DO NOT TAKE!
I have never been more unsatisfied with a teacher, she is very harsh on students, uncaring, and just plain bad at teaching. She says she'll meet with us to help us but cancels, doesn't work with your schedule, and makes you feel stupid if you actually can meet with her.I don't feel comfortable in her class and she is always belittling students.DONT TAKE!
This teacher is terrible. She often has no idea what she's teaching, other advanced students will have to tell her the right answers, she never admits when she's wrong and tries to make it look like she knew all along and was just testing us.Her quizes are for punishment,we dont get anything out of them. She doesnt even like teaching, she is horrible.
Get ready to teach yourself statistics. I got nothing but confusion out of her classes. She contradicts herself.Maybe if she would actually go over our homework before coming to class she would to know how to answer some simple questions. She also used to pay a student to make her powerpoints for her, something about that just doesn't seem right.BAD!
With some experience, she could be a good teacher. Right now, she teaches her class like you would run a business. She only offers 1 extra credit opportunity that you have to start at the beginning of the semester. You definitely have to study for the tests but they aren't too horrible.
She is an uncaring useless teacher who makes you feel bad in her class. She gets mad when people dont show up for class and punishes the people who do. At the time she keep telling us she does not care if you dont show up to class. She teaches the class like a business ant try to run it like a country with all her "democracy" ****.
She is one of the few teachers I have ever had that manages to make a subject harder then it really is. If you are good at teaching yourself then this class is great for you since you will get a ton of bonus points. Otherwise her teaching style is very confusing and she gives pop quizes as punishment. One of the worst teachers I have had overall.
I think she was really great at teaching the class. Whenever you have a question she will always answer it and do a prolem to show you how to do it, no matter how many times she has done the problem before. She gives alot of extra credit and its very easy to get an A.
Overall she is generally a pretty good teacher. The class is easy to do well in as long as you attend class to qualify to take the bonus quizzes. They help a ton! As long as you attend class, do the homework, bonus quizzes and study for the tests you should be fine!
I think she's a great teacher. She's willing to help you with questions you have and she gives A LOT of extra credit. If you read the book, show up for class, and do the homework you'll be fine. Definately Take
She is the only professor who truly cares for her students.
Shet is totally cool about you missing class if you notify her in advance. She has gotten better since I took her for the first time last year. She definitely improved in my book.
Awesome teacher! Not sure why she has a poor rating, but she definitely makes sure oyu understand. Material is tough, but she makes it not impossible. Definitely cares about her students and gives some extra credit too!
Doesn't speak english very well. Does not explain very well and disrespects students. Online homework does not relate to course.
Not horrible, but not great either. She does have a thick accent and bad grammar, so she can be hard to understand. But she offers study sessions before all tests. Not hard to pass -- but don't expect her to be understanding if you need to miss her class.
I think she was a very good teacher, she really cared for the students and helped with bonus points so you can get a good grade.
She is good but rude sometime. The online homework aren't easy at all. Her tests are not easy and tricky. Just two to five students who leave early during the tests and most of the students sit until the last minute. I would not recommend her unless you have to..
Horrible teacher. At the beginning of the semester, she was very nice. As the semester wore on, she became very rude to students and angry when students were not understanding the difficult material. TAKE SOMEONE ELSE.
For the material that the class covers, she did a very good job to help students to understand and succeed in the class. If you can put a little work in the class it is an easy B. The only problem is the online homework is difficult.
She tends to go off track many times. The online textbook was not easy, but if you pay attention in class you should do fine. It is true about the pop quizzes if you do not ask questions in class.
This class is completely useless. Pham is an ok teacher. Homework is worth 40% of the class so that can really help you if you just do the work.
Worst professor I have ever had. I am a good student and have all A's except for her. this class ruined my gpa. Not good at teaching, looks for excuses to fail you. Very rude, somewhat offensive. Does not care if over 70 percent of the class is not understanding the material. Don't take
Awful teacher and very rude. Be prepared to teach yourself because she just makes everything more confusing.
Worst teacher I have ever had. So mean, and rude, and refuses to help when it is needed. Can't understand her on top of not understanding the material. Waste of my time and money.
First time in my life I had to drop a class, don't take her.
Terrible teacher. Wants everyone to fail and laughs about it. Had a test where 3 class averages were around 56%. She blamed it on us. Take someone else. Will give you a quiz worth 20% of test grade last week of school that is hard, to mess up your grade.
Worst teacher I've ever taken. Went to her multiple times asking for help & she refused to help & instead would quiz me about reading the book, instead of explaining the material to me. So rude. Do not take her.
Tests are about 80% definitions that you cram into short term memory.1 week later Ive forgoten all the material because I didnt actualy learn anything. Her lectures are comprised of her reading off powerpoints.I can do that myself thank you! She can be pretty rude to some students at times too. AVOID at all costs
I am surprised by everyone's comments because I think she is a great teacher. If you pay attention in class she explains everything really well and I have always done great on her tests. The homework problems are challenging but not impossible. She has never been rude to anyone in my class and she is always helpful.
I think she's really helpful as long as a student puts forth some effort and initiates for help. If you show up, do your homework, take the quizzes then you should get an easy A.
Some people are just lazy and don't want to do the work to earn what they need. It's hysterical to read the exaggerated complaints here. Losers!
The tests are very hard. Read th powerpoints, and book!!! The tests are dificult so study hard. This is not an easy A!!! Try to take another teacher. A very frustrating class becasue al of her tests are differnt hard to know what to study.
Extremely difficult subject to master however she tries her best with each semester to make it a little easier to understand and pass the class. Suggest looking at some Youtube videos for assistance and to take advantage of the free tutoring!
I had to take QBA237 four times before I took Pham, she is amazing! She related all of this bs to real life situations, which makes so much more sense than throwing numbers around. You have to go to class, but if you pay attention she is awesome and very helpful.
I took her a yr ago she didn't like me because when I would ask questions she was rude and unhelpful. I have a good understanding in math and was able to get an A, but not due to her. What really annoyed me though was on 1 test the class average was in the low 60s high score low 80s and she spent 15 mins. telling the class we didn't study right WOW!
I think Pham was a great teacher. I just wish she would figure out a better extra credit opportunity. Community service, blahhh!
Great teacher. I took this class the semester before with someone else and ended up dropping it. Hardest subject for me but she was helpful and clear. Its a tough class but if you attend class and do the homework you should be fine.
Mrs. Pham did such an awesome job teaching. I went to every class and studied hard and received 100 on the tests. She is very straightforward and wants you to succeed. Do the work she gives you and you will do well!! She breaks things down so you better understand and really tries to relate things to real life. Learned a TON. Take her!!!
Most unhelpful teacher I have ever had. I was excited to take this class, but professor Pham made it unbearable. I have never had a C, but I had to work extremely hard to maintain a C. She does not answer your questions and makes you feel like an idiot for even asking questions. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Honestly the class is very hard, but she does a good job teaching it. The key to getting help from her is to wait until class is dismissed then approach her alone and ask your question or schedule an appointment with her. She isn't great at answering questions you ask in class for some reason...
She's not really that difficult. I had her for QBA 237 which was a disaster, but this class is a lot different. She seems to like it and is easier in her grading. There's a group project where you have to research and analyze data which is like 35% of your grade - it was easy. Optional final. Make friends with her! She likes questions.
Horrible person in general. not a terribly hard class, but she's not a good teacher, and just ignorant.
Good teacher. course is hard, but she teaches well. Attend every class. She gives alpha number to each student.alpha number carries 2 points, which is 4% of each test. If you miss the class when she gives alpha number, you cant take advantage of 4% on your each test.Do not miss any class before exam 1, so that u can get your alpha number.
Pham is an excellent teacher. She knows what she is talking about because she used statistics in her prior job. Go to class (miss less than 3 days and you don't have to take the final), do the extra credit (2 hours of volunteering), participate in class, do the homework, and ask questions. She wants to help you if you put forward the effort.
Ms. Pham was cool at the beginning of the semester. As the semester went on, I felt as if she caters the kids who do well in her class, but ignored the struggling ones. She makes you feel uncomfortable when asking a question. She knows the math, but teaches nothing about concepts. You will be confused unless you read, which she failed to clarify.
Great teacher!
The most useless professor I've ever had at MSU. Doesn't know half the material herself and reads the slides word for word. Tells you that she's underlining the important things to help you focus your studies then highlights the entire slide. Her assignment directions of no help and gets mad if you ask questions. Tests over pointless facts.
Ms. Pham was an excellent instructor. It was refreshing to have an instructor who had genuine business experience. While some may believe she "catered" to the students that understood, it was simply because we made an effort to understand the material both inside and outside of class. Highly recommend taking this class with Courtney Pham!
I know this is a cliche but she is probably the worst teacher I've ever had. Stats is pretty interesting, but she makes it boring and more complicated than it should be. She's pretty hard to understand, as says a lot of English words incorrectly. The tests are very different from what is done in class. I suggest you take a different professor.
So confusing when she goes over it in class. She goes way to fast unless you are a super genius. I've always considered myself good at math, so I basically taught myself outside of class based on her powerpoint lectures. She just needs to SLOW DOWN! Extra credit and homework saved my life, otherwise I did not deserve a B
I think she did a great job teaching. As long as you go to class and pay attention you should understand it. Her tests are only 25 questions and multiple choice. I would highly suggest her!
Enjoyed
Hands down the worst professor I've had in college. She is nice but her teaching skills need to be improved because she can't teach at all. She basically just talks at the class and goes super fast when working prblms out on the board. Other teachers are much easier than she is, only take her if she is a last result. Don't make the mistake like me!
It is a tough class if you don't like math but she is such a nice and cool lady. She gives out plenty of extra credit and makes it impossible to fail. Very helpful if you need it but lectures are boring and confusing. I do recommend her because she really cares about her students doing well.
If you go to college and hope to learn something, then take her. If you don't want to put forth the effort, then don't take her because you will be bitter and leave unhappy comments like some posters did.
She is an absolutely awful teacher. The class is not hard at all but she does not know how to teach. I would have been better off skipping every class
350 was pretty easy with her. It was very powerpoint oriented. Had 4 Exams and that was it. Gives good study guides, can cram night before and do fine. She does do little quizzes in class when no one shows up, so that kinda sucks. Easy class though.
Ms. Pham does move fast, but will answer any questions you have. She is a fair grader and gives you a chance at extra credit. Final was optional. She has a nice personality and I would take a class with her again.
She is a great professor, loves when students stay after class and ask questions. She usually gives important details in the last two minutes of class, so I sat in the front row. She knows everyone's names, offers quite a bit of extra credit towards the end. I finished after the last test with 360+400 so I did not have to take the final. Great
Second class I have taken from her, taking another next semster
Helpful, would recommend to a friend.
Statistics is a hard class but she gives you a great amount of opportunity to succeed.
She is really nice and knows her stuff. It was sometimes hard to focus in class, but she would answer any questions and reexplain them. You really have to work hard if you struggle in probability and statistics. DON'T SKIP CLASS. You will not do well if you skip. And she offers extra credit if you don't miss too many days!
I accredit my success in this class to my high school statistics class. I really liked Mrs. Pham, however her way of explaining things wasn't the best. She does offer multiple extra credit points for community service and participating in class. Very knowledgable and provides real world examples, just not the greatest with clarity.
Loved her. Great teacher, explained everything well, and gave extra credit opportunities. She gives you the formulas for tests which is super helpful.
By far the best professor I have had since coming to MSU. Have an A in her 337 class. She creates her own textbook using research she compiled from being an analyst for Chase for many years. Will explain over and over until you understand it and will provides clarity as well as lamen terms to explain. great at providing real world problems.
Mrs. Pham speaks several languages and sometimes mixes up words. It is is difficult to learn the material because of this. We were also told that the answers in the back of the book may be wrong, also making it very difficult to learn the material. Test questions are not written like problems in the book.
One of the most fun classes I have taken. Her accent and personality make stats class more interesting. You have to show up for class if you want to pass. She is very willing to help you learn during office hours if you show up.
Dr. Pham speaks very broken English. She is quite hard to follow and offers no compassion to her students. It's a very sink-or-swim atmosphere. I unfortunately sank. If you don't show up, you will get behind. The classes build on themselves. Keep up! Textbook optional, Aplia code mandatory.
Pham is a great teacher. She wrote her own book and it's much cheaper than any textbook I bought. If you go to class and pay attention you will do great.
Tough class, but probably easier if you have taken a stats class before. Gives a lot of extra credit which is a grade saver. Tests are brutal and different than the homework but are multiple choice which helps if you know what you're doing. Go to class, its required and you will miss out on all extra credit basically by doing so. Take someone else.
Hard class!
Pham speaks fluent English and is easy to understand. She has a great comprehension of the material and is great at putting it in lay-mans terms. If you're willing to go to class, pay attention, and engage in the homework you will do well in the class even though the material is not easy. I would love to take Pham for another course. She's awesome.
Pham is by far the best choice; however she will not be teaching this class anymore. So much extra credit and she sets the class up so you have to try to fail! Yes, the material is difficult, but this class is an easy A/B by just doing the homework/quizzes/extra credit. Very nice and cares about her students! Optional final (which is a lifesaver)!
As long as you stay on top of your assignments and material, you will do well. She wants her students to learn and it defiantly shows. Can't wait to take her in another class.
The material for any stats class is difficult, but the way Pham sets her class up makes it bearable. She offers a ton of extra credit which saves your grade. Class is organized and laid out for you. She truly wants to see her students succeed. She's not teaching 237 anymore, but take her for 337 if you can.
I passed Stats with an A because of Ms. Pham! The way her class is structured is designed to make sure you can pass the class even if your test scores are not stellar. The final was optional and there were many opportunities for extra credit. I would highly recommend Ms. Pham.
Ms. Pham cares about students and genuinely wants us to succeed. I took stats before this class so I'm not a great judge of difficulty. However, the tests were pretty straightforward and the amount of work is appropriate for the course being math-based. I would take another course with Ms. Pham given the opportunity.
I have had her for several classes and unfortunately, she tends to be less than desirable as an instructor. She sits in front of class and reads off the power points, does not answer questions in an easily understandable way, she seems frustrated when a student asks for clarification and so many students are hesitant to ask questions.
I really liked her. Her syllabus was super straight forward. I just went to the tests and the days we turned in hw and got an A. All her notes are online. Her tests are extensive but pretty straight forward. Some chances for extra credit if you go to class. I'd recommend her to anyone.
Pham is very knowledgeable & was good at elaborating on her slides, but my god was she butt hurt by people leaving class. Like shed stop lecture just to rant about it but i mean, we're paying for it & them leaving is only a "distraction" cause she makes it one. 5 exams, class avg test grade of 145people was like 72% & her study guide is on excel...
Courtney is funny and does a good job of relating the lecture material to real-world examples, but unfortunately her study guides are simply topics discussed in class - so basically her way of telling everyone to study everything covered. Tests are difficult, but the class is passable. Have to study and work hard.
I absolutely love having Professor Pham! She relates topics to everyday life and even throws in some fun life stories of her own. She does not make anything "hurt" your grade. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you come to class you get rewarded (extra credit). Pop quizzes can only help you (extra credit). Homework is very light and easy! 10/10
She's a very nice lady and makes class go by pretty quickly with decent lectures. Posted powerpoints before class so I would just print those off and bring them to take notes on. She offers a lot of extra credit and her homework is very easy. However, her tests are very hard and even though she gives us a study guide, the tests were still pretty di
This class consisted of three exams (one was online) and a group presentation at the end of the semester. The tests were pretty simple if you go to class and listen to the examples that she gives during the lectures. At the end of the semester, you have to do a group project over a nonprofit organization and it was easy to complete.
1 group project. Online homework is easy to complete. Random opportunities for extra credit. Take notes during lecture and use that and online homework to study for tests.
10/10 wouldnt recommend this professor. She gives TONS of extra credit but its all outside of class. If youre a student with a full time job you are not able to take advantage of these opportunities. The whole class is basically test, if you arent a good test taker good luck.
Professor Pham is a good professor, her tests were my struggle for me. She gave out so much extra credit that it is impossible to fail.
This class online wasn't bad and I probably would've ended up with an A but she isn't clear on a lot of things. She changes up her due dates for tests and when I missed one by a few hours she wouldn't let me retake it. And anytime I emailed her she was stand offish. Overall pretty easy though.
A nice person, but not a very understanding professor. The homework is easy but the test questions are so different than the homework questions. Doesn't have any advice on what to review other than the previous homework on Connect. Overall it was an okay class, the tests are just hard and she doesn't work with students when there is a problem.
Neither of the exams include a study guide or requirements. When taking an exam I was surprised to see mathematical problems since we were never once told a calculator was needed and we were never given similar problems in any homework. I emailed the professor and received the following response: I'm sorry you feel that way.
Hard to do well in this class. Power Points are nothing like the exams. Some exam content is not in the book as well. Struggled all year in the class. Took every extra credit point I could get. Got D's on every exam but with the extra credit, I ended with a B in the class.
Homework assignments are worth basically none of your grade. Study guides were not given for tests. Test questions are completely different from anything covered on the homework so you're essentially going in blind. Good luck
Honestly a great professor. Lays out what she expects. Read your notes, show up to class and study and you will do just fine. Will help you outside of class and has everything laid out for due dates way in advance.
So strict for no reason. 4 tests and a homework each chapter. Grades hard on discussion boards. This was an online summer course so I do not know why it was taken so seriously. Also I am really over professors using their same old exact lectures they have used for years. Had missing lectures also.
highly recommend taking her class you won't regret it.
Pham has a lot of real-world experience in marketing and it shows in her lectures. She makes the class impressively personable for how large it is and is more approachable than you think. Homework is not hard and tests are easy if you study. Hard to fail with all the extra credit. Make sure to show up and answer questions and you'll be fine.
Dr. Pham is a great professor. She is very knowledgable about what she is teaching and is able to give clear examples on topics to help you better understand. She also gives lots of extra credit for just doing basic things like attending class and doing your homework. She also gives great detail about what material will be on the tests.
This is possibly one of the hardest classes I've taken though the content isn't difficult. There are 5 tests that make up 80% of your grade. You don't have a lot of time for the tests and the questions to me were worded in a way that made them very challenging or didn't even seem they were in the material. Take advantage of all extra credit!
Lots of extra credit, the last two exams are nor proctored, and her lecture videos are very helpful
Decent professor, I took her online and if you read the chapters they would prep you for the exams pretty well. Her class is fully posted from the beginning besides exams. She offers a couple of extra credit as well which helps to boost the grade. Impossible to get a 0 on the homework but exams are a little difficult so get ready to study for them.
Ms. Pham is a good Marketing Prof. If you take her MKT 351 in LNU-MSU in Dalian, you'll get lots of chances to obtain extra credits as long as you appear in her class. 3 tests but they are easy if you remember her examples in class and read the text carefully. Great professor!
Overall really nice lady. She made the last 2 exams not proctored so we weren't as nervous. You can easily get 100 on all weekly assignments. Class was very low maintenance, her lectures were informative, and she was very responsive. I recommend this class if you need to get MKT350 out of the way without any difficulties!
This teacher is awful. Prepare yourselves to open Cengage MindTap and do every single assignment possible; and teach yourself. I studied so hard and yet all my stress and time was wasted. Do yourself a favor and take this next semester with a different teacher. Courtney, if you are reading this, I sincerely hope you took it personally. Do better.
Professor Pham's MKT350 class is challenging but rewarding. While the exams can be tough, she provides plenty of extra credit opportunities. I found using Unstuck ai and reviewing her helpful lecture videos to be great study aids.
I like the way this professor structures this course, although it seems a little unfair when it comes to extra credit. If your entire row is in attendance one day you get an extra credit point...and although I've been to every single class, my entire row has never been there for me to get a point. Sit in a short row if you want a chance.
The homework for this class is easy, but the exams are difficult. You need to read textbook and watch lectures to do well. There are 5 exams that use lockdown browser and respondus. I would take again if I needed to, but would not go running back or anything.
She is a great professor and i would recommend her to anyone needing to take MKT 350. She explains things well and grades things fairly as well as offers enough points on homework's to help your overall grade with tests.
Very tough grader and does not accept late work
Exam questions are niche/random from long, detailed chapters. all on lockdown browser. Test Qs have nothing to do with practice quizzes or homework. Extra credit is overly complex, but necessary if you don't have hours to prepare for any random question over lots of material. I learned very little in this class. This professor is not helpful.
