Honestly, take a class with Dr. Plante. His teaching model is the best thing I've ever experienced. In our class, we got to choose how we're graded. A million things due in other classes & skipped the second midterm- I just did a paper to make up for it. Oh and those midterms? Open book. He truly strives to teach you something and does just that.

WOW. Where to start? One of the best teachers I ever had! Amazing grading scheme (You choose what you want to do for marks - exams, papers, pre-class quizzes, reflections, etc...) VERY FAIR in his grading style. A lot to read, but VERY helpful! He is VERY funny and very approachable. Always available in his office, gives good hints for exams. AMAZE

Dr. Plante is the greatest prof around. His lectures are engaging and interesting, he gets work back to you insanely quickly, and on top of it all? you get to pick how most of your grade is made up. If you ever get the chance absolutely take a course with him, you won't regret it.

Honestly, if you have the chance to take a class with Dr. Plante, DO IT!!! He is awesome! His lectures are engaging, and he gives complete freedom on how you distribute your grade. With his engaging lectures and many optional assignments/quizzes/papers makes understanding the content extremely easy. You chose the best testing style for you and that's amazing. Everything including the mid-terms are optional except the final exam. He truly cares about his student and is not only a kind and nice person he's a good teacher.

Dr. Plante is the best!! His Psychology of Sex class was by far my favourite of the semester. He truly wants us to learn and gives us a lot of different methods to do so (pre-class quiz, post-class reflection, presentations, midterms, etc.) but nothing is mandatory except the final exam! His slides are so funny and he really cares about us!

Not only are his lectures among the most interesting I've ever had, but his evaluations are always fair and he gives so much opportunity to be successful in his class and will always get back to you immediately and is so helpful. He really is inspirational and makes you want to com to class and participate and feel in a safe learning environment. He really connects with the students on every level. As a non-psych major I was nervous to take a 200 level psychology class, but I am so glad I did. I absolutely love how you can decide how you're going to be graded (pre-class quizzes/attendance/teach-a-topic/midterm(s)/paper). His lectures are always entertaining. He is extremely approachable and ready to help students who ask for it.

One of the best, most caring teachers I've ever had at Bishop's. Courtney is super charismatic, caring and understanding. He puts so much effort into what he does and makes a boring topic of "Research Methods" actually interesting. He is a huge asset to the psychology department and Bishop's let alone, and it's a pleasure to have him as a prof.

Somehow managed to make Research Methods interesting and even fun. Great personality, great teaching style, engaging lectures. Genius grading system where students can choose between a long list of different assignments (I so wish other profs did that). I really hope I get to take another one of his classes.

I have had 2 classes with Dr. Plante, and I truly hope that I have more chances to take classes with him. He managed to make research methods a class that I never contemplated missing out on. He was a wonderful professor who offered a unique grading criteria that was complete inclusive to different students strengths and weaknesses, giving options varying from papers, exams, to more creative ways to demonstrate course material such as creating your own exams from things learned, to giving the lecture on one of the chapters. Dr. Plante is an amazing professor. Bishops is lucky to have him! I was lucky enough to take two courses with him this semester and they were by far my favourite courses. Prof. Plante is inspiring, knowledgeable, and completely rad. Professional rapport with students, and he gets back to you SO QUICK - with hundreds of students I don't know how he does it?! I recommend doing the quizzes, and the reflections, and going to his office hours. He's fun to talk to and very approachable, and knows his social psych!

Dr. Plante is one of the most amazing professors. He completes the academic experience, by teaching through his passion for psychology. Aside from, what seems to be an infinite amount of expertise, his knowledge for empirical research is hard to beat.

He actually recommends students rate him on rate my professor - hes very responsive and his classes are basically a choose-your-own-adventure - he creates assignments and you can either do them or not and whatever you do becomes 60% of your grade. It was nice to be able to choose how to gather my marks. The quizzes and reflections were an easy way to gather a few points while at the same time helping to learn the content more fully. I was happy to be able to do them at my own rhythm. Dr Plante is a passionate teacher, respectful with the students.

I loved that we could choose how we wanted to "build" our final grade. Choosing various midterms, quizzes, reflections or papers, allowed you to be graded on what you prefer, but also make the end of semester way smoother.

He is always willing to help us even outside his office hours. He adapted his course very well during Covid! We had our final exam of 40% but the other 60% was left to the students to decided how they wanted to fulfilled it throughout the semester by on on our strengths(weekly quizzes, mid-terms, or term paper, etc.) Lots of weekly reading.

Bishop's really has something special with this Dr. Plante fellow. Definitely an interesting character, but probably the greatest, most dedicated, passionate, inspiring, and knowledgeable teacher I have the pleasure to be educated by. If that's not enough for you, he's got nice PPT slides with cats and memes. Truly a free spirit and living legend!

Loved Dr Plante's class! He seems genuinely interested in the topic he is teaching and is very knowledgable. He grades super fast and gives regular updates (online class). I recommend, and will definitely be taking classes with him in the future (no matter the class tbh)

I don't think I've ever been this constantly amazed by how well he taught the class. He's unapologetically himself and really inspired me to do the same. (Hey, the guy came in class with his heavy, expensive fursuit, and restructured a whole class's perspective on the community!) Yep. Anyway, take his class. you'll enjoy your university experience.

This is my first semester at Bishop, I took PSY102 as an elective class and I just loved this class, so I'm going to do a minor in psychology. Pr Plante is one of the best teacher I have ever had.

Courtney's classes are always my favourites. He offers a grading scheme where you pick how you want to build your grade based on your strengths and weaknesses. Don't even have to write a final if you'd rather do a paper and other assignments instead. Highly recommend his courses!
