super nice teacher and really easy grader. you really dont do any work until the end of the semester but its not too bad. id for sure recommend her for civic engagement. plus sometimes she brings candy to class!
Very helpful teacher; attend class and complete volunteer hours you will receive a good grade
We were encouraged to pick an organization, to volunteer with, that we were passionate about. Your opinions were welcomed in the discussions. This was a fun and engaging class.
The entire class is based on picking a nonprofit organization and to contribute in some way with a group. Though group work is usually a nightmare, she tries to make it as easy as possible. She's extremely clear in her assignements and could not be more helpful then she is. She's kind and down to Earth and loves what she's does. Easy A!
This class is hurt by the strict and often vague guidelines set forth by the University. Courtney makes it interesting and goes a long way to instill civic awareness in her students.
A highly motivated instructor who is passionate about her students. The university prevents her from doing more. You will find thsourse rewarding and fullfilling. Be open minded and she will provide the color to illuminate your world.
I really felt this class was a waste of my time and money. Her class is dull to say the least, and you leave it with a sense that you did not learn a thing. As an individual, I find her to be superficial and not genuinely passionate about what she does.
Awesome class! I highly recommend taking Professor Satkoski for civic engagement. She understands that students have other classes and does not assign any more work than what is required by the course. She is very encouraging, and as long as your put forth a good effort in her class you will get a good grade.
Best Instructor I've ever had! Very passionate and helpful. Very concerned about her students and willing to go over and beyond. Thanks again!
This class is busy work. I work for a nonprofit & volunteer for two nonprofits. Because the course is standardized, not individualized, I had to volunteer for yet another organization. This was a waste of $600. The the amount of outside work required & the fact that the teacher changed class dates & times often caused missed work & stress. Awful.
She took over our class on short notice due to our professor taking sick leave. She did a great job and works very well with students. Only bad thing about her is that she is married, because she's a babe.
This class was easy and hard at the same time. Hard because of all the work you put into your service learning project but easy because she made it easier to do. Just do all the assignments and she grades your presentations while you're presenting so you'll know exactly what you got. Easy class, easy A.
COURTNEY IS AWESOME. If you pick a project you're passionate about you will pass the class no problem. only downside is the course text which is pretty boring. I highly recommend Courtney.
Courtney is INCREDIBLE! LOVED HER! She goes over and beyond and is so passionate about her courses. She is very organized and is willing to do anything to help her students. She is really nice and very fair. I would highly recommend taking her. I've taken a few of her classes! They fill up quick so get her early! BEST TEACHER YET!!
Awesome professor. Easy to talk to and get help from.
Possibly the most organized and to the point professor I have had at FGCU. Very passionate about what she does.
Courtney is THE BEST Professor I have ever had. I took two of her classes and I wish she taught others so I could take more of her classes. She is so passionate about her class and cares a lot about her students and their projects. She goes over and beyond and is always helping someone out in class. She is my fav prof at FGCU! Love her!
Honestly one of the best professors I have ever had. Grades very easy, everything is basically group work and group presentations. Tries to end class early when possible. Extremely understand and accommodating. Also an easy way to get a bunch of Service Learning Hours. Not exams or quizzes!!!! Easy A+ finished with a 98.
Courtney is an amazing person! She genuinely cares about you and your ability to grow throughout the semester. There are no tests, just a couple of assignments to go along with your service learning project. She gives quick feedback for all assignments, and goes out of her way to help you with whatever you need for your project. PLEASE take her!
Courtney is awesome!! Highly recommend! She genuinely really cares about her students. She responds to e-mail really quick and is so nice (pretty too!). I liked how she made this class fun and was very organized. I was dreading this class because of the project but she made the class fun and inspirational. I hope I can take more of her classes!
Courtney is the best!!! I have taken all of her classes. I have never had a professor who goes so far out of their way to help students. She gets back to your emails quickly and is always willing to meet you out of class. She is really nice and really cares about you and your project. Def recommend her! She's my favorite at FGCU.
Courtney is hands down the best professor I have ever taken at FGCU and I will be sure to take her again any chance I get. She is so happy and upbeat all of the time and is just so proud of all of her students. She is just amazing and I highly recommend you take her. Also, I should mention she is a HUGE fan of extra credit!
Courtney is awesome!! I have taken two of her classes and wish I could have taken more. She really cares about her students and responds to emails very fast. She is honestly my favorite professor. She is really inspirational, sends our weekly reminders and is prepared. She goes out of her way to help students on their projects! HIGHLY recommend!
Courtney is so nice and I liked going to class. I was dreading this class and the project but she makes the class fun and really cares about her students and our projects. She gets back to you right away and is really interesting. I am going to take another one of her classes in the fall. I highly recommend her especially for a project class.
Courtney is so nice. I'm in her summer class and put off this class bc of the project and group work but heard she was really good so I waited to take her. Well she is awesome. She really cares about us and helps so much with the project outside of class and the class is actually interesting and she is very inspiring. Glad I have her as a teacher!
I'm almost done with Courtney's Civic Engagement class and it changed my life. I wasn't sure I'd like it but it really opened my eyes. Courtney is so nice. She doesn't give tests and is very helpful, easy to talk to and really cares. She is very detailed and has great stories and awesome lectures. I am taking her senior capstone class in the fall.
Courtney is AWESOME! She grades your work really fast and is really nice. Our group needed a lot of help with our project and she was always there to help us and nice about it. Few teachers are like that and you can tell she loves her job and was always upbeat. She also gives a lot of good feedback and sends detailed reminders that helped me.
Everything is clearly outlined and detailed in her explanations. Gives lots of feedback and grades quicker than any other professor I've ever had. She is passionate about what she teaches and cares for every student, and makes sure to reach out to everyone in her class. When you take this mandatory class, take this professor!
Courtney is my favorite! I am taking her Capstone class this semester because I loved her 3300 class so much. She is nice, detailed and goes out of her way to make the class fun and inspiring. Interesting discussions and assignments. Looking forward to the fall class. Def recommend taking her but sign up early bc her classes fill up really fast!
She is a great professor. She genuinely cares about her students well being and performance. You do have to do a service learning project but it benefits you in the end. I learned so much in this class. It is a fun elective. On the bright side if your class shows good participation and understanding she will not give exams. Take this class!
I'm in her Civic Engagement class now. So far she is awesome like everyone said on here. Super nice, detailed and clear about what you have to do and even though I didn't want to do the group project at first I feel different after her first two lectures and am actually excited about it. She is really nice, smart and willing to help you out.
Nice, interesting and hot lol. This is the third class of hers I've taken. I've never had anyone get back to me like her and she actually cares- rare for the teachers I've had. She expects a lot from you but helps you so its no big deal. I would say to take her class.. a lot of my friends have had her and liked her to. She's my favorite at FGCU.
She is really cool. Will work with you to help you out. Stays after class if you need her to. Really easy to get in touch with if you have questions or are having a hard time. Class is better than you would think. I'm glad I had her. She is one of few teachers that goes out of their way to help. Project takes a lot of time but cool overall.
Courtney is awesome. I've had her once before. Both times a great class. Very nice and sends updates a lot to keep you up to date on what is due. Very nice and makes the group project easier to do because she helps a lot. There is a group project but I enjoyed mine. Pick a project you like. I'd recommend her. Class was fun and not boring.
Like everyone said, Courtney is awesome. She taught the second part of our class and was so nice. She gave more feedback than any teacher I've ever had and showed up early and stayed after class to help us. Interesting lectures and activities and very nice and helpful. She gets back to you within a few hours too. Taking her in spring.
Courtney is my favorite professor. She is so nice and kind and does so much for her students. I only got to take her once before I graduated so I wish I would have taken her sooner. Sign up early or email her b/c her classes fill up fast. I delayed taking this class til I could take it w/her b/c my friends said she was so good. Def take her!
My first class with her. Already really like her. No text. Very organized. I was going to drop the class (don't like group stuff) but stayed because she is really helpful and eased my worries and was nice. Glad I stayed. Actually really like a class I dreaded. The class is mostly a project in the community but I like it so far. Would rec her.
Never had a better professor at Fgcu. She is so nice and is always able to help and meet and is nice about it. I am changing my major because of this class and her. She gives really long comments and cares about the class and students. She is awesome. The best one who does service classes for sure.
Courtney is awesome. She is my favorite teacher from both of the schools I went to. I took three of her classes. All good and different. She helps students a lot. Always happy and nice. She worked with me a lot when others teachers wouldn't. The syllabus looks hard at first but its not bad. She is cool and gives really good feedback.
Courtney is really cool and nice and easy going but really good at helping you come up with big ideas for your project. I changed my major because of my class with her. I always look forward to her class. Taking again in fall. Glad i got in. Classes book fast. Email her if you can't get in- she is worth it. Best one at fgcu for service stuff.
Very cool and nice. Hot teacher ha
Courtney is amazing. Its my first class with her. She sends out weekly reminders, is really nice and a lot of energy and always stays after with us. She is already one of my favorite teachers and this is my first month with her. My advisor recommended I take her. She gives a lot of feedback and is way better than others who teach this.
Excellent instructor with constant availability. Community supporter engages students in service and caring outside class room!
Courtney is one of the best professors I've ever had. She is always willing to help you in any situation. She is so genuine and cares for her students. TAKE HER IF YOU CAN!
Courtney is amazing. She is the one my advisor said to take and Im glad i did. I wish I took her earlier instead of my last semester because she is very inspiring and you learn a lot. She really cares about you and the work is not too hard. She is a good presenter and really organized. She helps you a lot and always replies to email. Really good.
Gives a lot of feedback for class stuff. Actually cares and always helps when you need her. My favorite prof at FGCU. Taking again in spring even though I don't need the class. She is awesome
The best teacher for projects and service learning classes. Her class is fun and she grades your work fast. Give a lot of feedback. Nice and tells good stories. She is really involved and helps you to be too. She is awesome! Her class is tough to get into so start early when registering or contact her.
She is cool as hell. Take her even if you don't like classes like this you will love her. She is awesome. I miss her class already ahah
Took her Hon Reading class. Best class here. Took it get a 1 credit class and ended up loving it more than all I've had at fgcu. She is really good at teaching and class isn't boring. I looked forward to class and learned a lot about myself. Taking her again in spring.
I haven't taken her yet but she saved my life by letting me in her class when its impossible to get in bc she's popular. Super cool bc I would have had to wait an extar semester to graduate. The advisors said she is the best and very nice. I emailed her and she got back to me right away and is sweet. Comes very highly recommended .
Take her. Only had one class and I'm already loving it. she is that good. She will make you want to do more than you have to. She is positive and nice so for a class I put off because I heard it sucked I'm actually thinking it might be my favorite and its only one class so far. She lives up to what others wrote here.
The best prof at fgcu. Her classes are big bc everyone tries to get in so beware of big classes. She is so helpful. No one at fgcu does what she does for students. This is my second class with her and my favorite of my classes. Even though I'm not a big volunteer person she makes me want to. really nice and gorgeous . Looks like a student ahah
She is the best. First class with her and I really like it. Class is really inspiring and she tells good stories and is open. The whole class actually listens and gets into the discussions because she is good at sharing things that make you want to listen. She has a big fan club lol so get ready for the students who drool over her aaah
Courtney is my favorite. She is very motivating and class is interesting and she is really cool. I don't know how she does all she does but she is flawless and has a lot of cool experiences that help us to connect to big stuff. My fourth class with her and all very good. Everyone thinks she is superwoman lol but for real she is.
Take her. The best at fgcu. Cool and hot and my favorite teacher. Wish i took her sooner before graduation.
She changed my life. I never wanted to do service until her class and now its all I want to do. She makes it cool and something you want. Work with her closely- she is really smart and connected and will take your project to a big level. I owe a lot. My life is changed bc I took her class and can't wait to have her in fall.
Gives more feedback than anyone at fgcu or my other school did. Actually cares about you and what you do. Only bad thing is her classes fill up in minutes so trying to waitlist in for fall. Took two courses with her and they were my favorite here. Switched my major so i could take her. Agree with everyone here.
You cant go wrong with any class you take with her. Hands down best at FGCU. Was recommended by my Advisor and another teacher and I took 4 classes with her before I graduated. Work close with her she has a lot to teach you.
The work is a breeze if you do just do it. She is really passionate and a great resource for volunteer opportunities and the like. She's always running back and forth though so you will have to catch her if you want to talk to her, it usually a walk and talk!
You will love her. She teaches like 100 classes and is always working on cool stuff. Even though she is busy she always helps you. Her classes are fun and actually make you think. She always has people wanting her and lined up for her so try to make an apt bc she gives you all her attention when its your turn so its worth it. I miss her class!
Taking the capstone class over summer a. It is my favorite class and teacher by far. She is cool and I have never had a teacher go so out of there way to help me. Im a bio major and this class is where i learned the most. She actually cares and makes you think. She teaches a lot of classes. Take all of them!!!
Whatever she teaches just take it and you won't regret it. Hands down the best.
You won't find anyone who will help you more than her. Literally no one. I have no idea how she does it all but she is always so up beat and hepful and so smart. I couldn't have graduated without her or even had fun in a class. I was anxious about this class but it ended up being my favorite because of her.
Its only been a few classes but I already see why everyone loves her. Frankly the best speaker I've heard at fgcu or anywhere really and isn't even in the comm department. She is a real inspiration. Didn't know anything about the class only that everyone said take her so I picked it and happy I did. Top prof.
Im in her senior sem class. It filled up way early but she took on a ton of us as extras so we can graduate in Dec. No one else would do that and even advisors said that she didn't have to but she did. She is the most caring person and when she tells stories you cry because she is so good and real. So happy I finally got her!
She is teaching my comm class and is great! She is very nice and organized and holds our attention. Class has cool assignments and good guest speakers she brings and she goes out of her way to make class unique and not stressful. It was a class I took because I needed it and now its my favorite and I see why everyone goes crazy to get her!
Prof Sat is amazing and sent us emails all during Irma to keep us posted and to make sure we were ok and is the ONLY reason I didn't drop the whole term. She cares so much and her emails make me cry bc she is such a good writer and makes you feel inspired and special. So thankful to have her with the whole Irma mess!
Courtney aka Superwoman ahah is the most impactful person I know. So glad I got to have her as my professor. Its hard to know how she does all that she does but she has been the biggest influence in my life.
Hands down best professor and beautiful inside and out! Take anything she teaches
Courtney is sooo amazing. Her classes fill up in minutes so its tough to get in. She is awesome. I have no idea how she does it all but she is still so nice and organized. I learned more from her about life and stuff than any other teacher or class. Even got Professor of the Year for the state. So glad I got her now and in sporing before I leave
She will change your life. I am in the honors class and its threes times a week and I don't miss because I honestly love it. I am a better person because of her. I don't know how she does it but she makes you want to be better and do good things. Not sure my girlfriend likes how much I talk about her ahaha but she is the best.
Professor Courtney is the best. The amount of effort and time she puts into class and helping students is unreal. She never stops. No wonder she is so skinny ahah Seriously made me see life differently. I never cared about service before her. She is genuine and the most selfless person I've ever met and won Prof of the Year
I took Eco Commun. She took the class over when the orig teacher canceled last min. Thank goodness bc Courtney is the best. I never had anyone care so much about me or the class. She does so much to help everyone and smart. I took the class for a credit and and didn't know that she'd teach it and basically change my whole life.
The same as what everyone put. She is awesome and makes class really memorable. Its the only class I didn't skip. aha She is an inspiring woman and very smart. She always has 1000 things going on but still helps everyone. She is super detailed and won a big award for teaching. Really cool and seriously changed my life.
The most diligent, kind and detailed professor I've encountered at FGCU. Beautiful inside and out. I had her for Honors Civics and can't wait to have her again. She is a must take but her classes are hard to get into bc they waitlist with her following. Once you have her you never go back lol! You take all she does.
Only been in the class a week and can see why people are so crazy about getting in her class. Just what she shares with you the first week about her makes you want to a better person and her stories had us in tears. Honestly took the class bc I had to but its easily. She's the real deal. Gorgeous person inside and out!
DEF take Prof Satkoski. Easily best class you will take no matter major. I didn't even need it but wanted her one more time before I graduated. Her classes fill fast and wait lists are pointless because no one drops. I could care less about service and the community til her. Prob the most impactful person in my life. Totally changed me!
I have her now for the Honors class and its been the most life changing class I've ever taken. I worked with her and her project with Hunter syndrome a ton this class and highly recommend. Best teacher here! Never met anyone as successful and giving as her.
Can't get a better prof than her. Learned more in her class than most at fgcu. Never missed class because I actually really got into it. I always got bummed when students in class presented because I would rather learn from her but that doesn't happen a lot. She just speaks off the cuff and its really good.
My last class and favorite prof at FGCU. She is cool and knows a lot. The stuff you read and talk about changes your life. I wouldn't have guessed that when I registered but the whole experience and esp her gave me ideas on how to live differently. Hands down incredible person. Only class I didn't skip. Pick her class
Hands down the best professor at FGCU! Professor Satkoski truly is the best instructor I have ever had. She cares for her students, and you leave her class wanting to serve others. You won't regret taking her class!
Prof. Satkoski is a real inspiration. She cares a tremendous amount about her students, even with her crazy busy schedule. You will learn to 'go with the flow' and say yes to more things in life. Integrated Senior Seminar can be boring, but with this class I actually wanted to be there each week. Graduating next week or I would take her again.
I took her in spring for IS and just graduated. Only class I got with her. I almost didn't do this bc everyone already says what I think. She is amazing. I couldn't wait to graduate and that was a class that changed my life. I never missed. She is unreal good. Hard to explain but just take her for anything. Such a cool and good person.
Been in her class a week and Im hooked. I never rate people on here but she is as good as people say. Was dreading summer classes and heard from everyone she was the best so I waited to take her. I actually look forward to class and have never been motivated like this before her. The whole class digs it and her.
Just take Courtney bc no one is as good as her. I had her my last semester at fgcu and wish id taken her sooner. Honestly changes how you see things and makes you a better person. She is involved in a ton of things and very inspiring as a person.
I had Professor Satkoski for my last class this summer. She is amazing. I still think about her and the class even though I graduated a few weeks ago. She really cares about us and is very successful. She made such a difference in my life and is so inspiring. Honestly the most impressive person at Fgcu. Highly recommend her!
Seriously amazing. Whatever she teaches juts take it aha but know her classes get booked fast. I was waitlisted in after waiting two semesters and now see why everyone goes crazy to get her. Hands down my favorite and its only been a week of classes.
It was my favorite course and professor at fgcu. I know why everyone goes crazy to get her. Honestly the most inspiring person I've ever met and even though no one knows how she does all she does, she is a hero to a lot of us. I wish I worked with her nonprofit in this class but I am taking her again and will in spring. Amazing person!!!!
Courtney is so awesome! If you have to take this class take it with her and it will be your favorite. Only been at fgcu a semester but she is my favorite out of UF and here. Hard to get in her class bc everyone tries to get her but if you can get her do. You have a group service project but learn a lot from her. Shes really smart and helps
Courtney is a very service-based person, and she cares deeply. Her class is not hard necessarily, and she's very understanding if/when your project has unforeseen issues. She also makes certain assignments due later than other professors, so time isn't as much of an issue. She's a solid professor - the readings aren't bad, and there aren't quizzes.
She is a real gem. I absolutely loved her! She is very transparent and is very clear at the beginning of the semester of what is expected. I have learned so much from her in the short period of knowing her. She pushes you to be the best version of yourself. I highly recommend her class.
Courtney will make you a better person. Everyone should take this class. 3 presentations, all with your group. You are allowed one absence. Very caring and easy to talk to. Does book discussions rather than quizes for the reading. A super fun class, one of my faverites!
Courtney was a great professor and was very nice and easy to talk to. My only complaint is the attendance policy is absolutely ridiculous. At the end of the semester I had a 95, not only was attendance taken from an attendance grade but additional points were deducted from final grade, left me with 75. not fair to students with chronic health issue
Courtney is the best so take all her classes. Im in my 3rd class with her now and its already my favorite day 2. You have to go to class but its college so you should so anyone who complains about that is not serious about school. You work hard but don't mind bc she is sincere and inspiring. I missed the class over break!
Only been in the class this week and I see why everyone goes crazy about her. I was crying in class today when she told the story about her son and why she does so much volunteer stuff. She's a really good speaker and I think everyone cried at some point lol in class today. Idk she's just really inspiring and I can't get her off my mind,
In my second class with her. Really cool books. I only took the class bc she was doing it not bc I needed the class but honestly the class and content are really good and she is the best so win win. I don't know how she does all she does but she is really organized and helps everyone plus all her nonprofit stuff and is really fast to reply.
Very organized. You always know what to do and she sends emails out that recap what happened in class and whats due on Fridays. If you do bad its bc of you not her bc the class can't go smoother with all she does that no other teacher would. Very transparent so you always know where you stand from day 1 and is fair. Best teacher and fun class
Don't dread this class just take her. Only thing is hard to get her bc everyone wants her. Schedule her early or go to fist class and beg. Been at fgcu 4 years and never had a prof do all she does. She sends you things to attend or get service hours/extra credit. If you arent organized you will be after this class. My favorite prof in college
The best person! This is my 3rd college and she is the only professor who put in the time to make me better. She is seriously goals and does it all! Check out her office and all the awards. She won't tell you but is very successful and awarded. Upbeat and kind and Im different because of her and never had a class or person change me like she did.
Took this class because my advisor said she was awesome. Im in her summer a class and she is exactly what people say. I cry in every class. Her stories and what she has done and how she gives is incredible. TBH I didn't care about the class until she talked. Really inspiring. So glad I took her and would highly recommend her!
Just transferred to fgcu and took this class b/c I needed the credit and her ratings were really good but tbh she is even better than what people say on here. My advisor rec her to bc she said she is the best here. Our 4-hr class goes by so fast because she tells amazing stories. Very easy to talk to and is very organized and helps you a lot.
Courtney has students work with her pre-existing projects which really only serve her in the long run. She is not genuine and seems only be after awards and recognition. If you make her look good, then she likes you. If not, good luck.
First teacher who gives a ton of feedback and actually cares. She does a lot on campus and in the community but still helps you if you need her and responds to emails fast. She sends very detailed emails and reminders and you get to pick your teams and project. Nice lady and class was great ;)
Cant say enough about her. BEST Prof hands down. Took her Humanities class summer a and loved it. Great book and lectures. There is a group project but she makes it work so well. Only class I liked having a team project. You actually do an impactful project and she is such an inspiration. Just signed up for her Foundations class! Take her!!!
TAKE her! She is organized and nice and class is fun and not that hard. Wasn't sure what it was about but took it bc my advisor said take anything she teaches bc she is the best. Our Panama class was incredible and I want to go on the trip with her in May. She usually teaches honors and senior classes so if you can take this one signup fast.
Totally recommend! She is organized and gives a ton of feedback. She only requires one textbook, which is about $25 anywhere. I took her for Humanities and Social Issues and her entire course was focused on a group project. Which if you actually put some time and effort in you can easily pass. She has some great stories, but she repeats them a lot.
Great class :) You have a group project but get to pick your team and what you do. Pretty cool to see all we got for El Penon. You don't get screwed in group work like most classes because she is organized and sets it up so that its individual/you earn your own grade. She does a ton for the community. The class isn't to hard but is inspiring.
You can't go wrong with Courtney. Ive had her for a few class and its always very organized and a class I look forward to. She is really sweet and smart and does so much to help people in our community with diseases and who live in poor areas. Take her bc you'll love her.
I thought I was the only one who felt the way that one comment said. That she really seems to just be doing things for her own benefit. Shes nice I guess but like more so intimidating than anything else and try too hard to be cool in my opinion.
Courtney is really nice and the class is good. I don't love my group or agency but thats not on her. She is really organized and detailed and that helps me bc im not. She helped me with a project in another class bc that teacher woukdnt. She is busy but made time for me and has a lot of good advise on life in general.
Courtney is easily the best at fgcu. Nice and smart and is the first prof who helped me outside of class/made it easy to stay on top of stuff bc she sends emails with reminders and to dos. I loved my group/project and learned a lot from her. Go into it with a positive attitude and don't worry about sl hours bc its not hard to get.
Foundations of Civic Engagement was alright for a class, though Courtney is SUPER type A. She's very passionate about running her non-profit and getting the cure for Huntington's Disease, but it seems like she wants everyone to have that passion about service. The group project for service is all up to you. Very tough on the writing assignments.
I took the humanities and social issues class. She is very passionate about her projects. I liked the class, but the whole time was just doing a group project. Beware of instructions because they are explained poorly and there are some miscommunications when it comes to her guidelines she sends out. However, she regularly sends weekly wrapups.
Courtney is so great! Yes you have to do a project and turn in assignments but why take any class if you don't want to try. If you actually want to learn about social issues and serviice and things happening all over then take her. She is really passionate and cares alot about people witch is rare. Helpful to students and keeps you organized. A++
I took her honors civics class and even tho the class was messed up w/corona virus she did a lot to help us when most teachers didn't. That was a lifesaver with our project. Courtney actually cared and sent emails each week to make sure we knew what to do. She was easy to talk to and inspiring and graded fast witch was nice.
Courtney is really organized and nice and Type A like other people said. You do have a group project but all teachers for this class do. She is very fair and lets you fire people in your group who dont do anything so thats cool. I wish all teachers did :/ You have to try in the class to get a good grade but it ended up my favorite class and teacher
Cool class, not to hard and nice prof. You can only miss 1 class and their is a group project. She goes out of her way to help and sends alot of emails to keep everyone updated. She does a ton of service in the community and actually does what the service classes tell us to do. Overall good class and she makes you a better person.
Its only been 1 class but she is great! Zoom completely crashed lol (not her fault or ours) :/ but she was so chill about fixing it when I would have been dying with everyone looking at me on it ahah. She turned a crappy situation into a good 1 when other teachers would have paniced. Already like her a lot and im actually excited about the class!!!
I would recommend her specifically. She is organized and clear so you know what she wants. She responds fast and sends detailed emails to. She made finishing classes with corona possible and actually cared. You do a group service project but she does a ton of non profit stuff so she knows a lot. Her lectures are interesting and class goes by fast.
Took Humanities and Social issues, had a problem on a major assignment and missed the deadline. As long as you explain and send her the work immediately she will help you. Great Prof and I would 100% take her again. She's so sweet and genuinely wants to help you learn.
BEST prof! I had her class during corona and she did so much to support and encourage us everyday. I had to drop 2 other classes because the teachers could care less what students were dealing with during a PANADEMIC but Courtney was so nice and helped us finish strong. I agree with other reviews that she 100% cares more than any teacher here!
Great teacher but beware class takes alot of time. You have a required group service project but she is really helpful and an expert on it. Courtney was easy to get in touch with and cool. You can also fire people who don't help with group stuff which is SO nice. Class is hard but she is inspiring and Im still at my agency.
100% take her! Had her summer social issues class and you have zoom meetings every week and that made it better than reg online. Easy to get in touch with and grades fast with alot of comments. Only regret is I took in summer instead of fall or spring bc I loved her and wish the class was longer. Summer kinda too fast for projects.
Great prof / class. Interesting/well organized. Just make sure you know zoom is required 1x a week but they are good classes. Wish the class was longer but was a good way to do service class in 6 weeks. You have to work for it but its not hard you just have a lot to do in a short time but she makes it easy to stay on top of what to do.
She's a solid choice. You can't go wrong with any of her classes. Cool person to.
Took her Hum class in sum b. She already has grades up when most teachers wait till the last sec. Very nice/organized/cool. Great lecturer even on Zoom. Class was usually out early so we had group time. I actually looked forward to her class. Maybe dont take in summer bc so much to do for class but I'd highly recommend her. Plan to take her again
Fav prof at FGCU! very inspiring! First class I actually read in becasue the book and discussions were good. She tells cool stories so class isn't boring. Shes very passionate about what she does and actually cares about us and our projects. There is a req group project and service hours but she helps a lot.
Only week 2 but I can see why everyone is obsessed with her. She is such an incredible person and speaker so the zooms are really good and there are like 15 to go to. Very inspiring, helpful and detailed. She sends really thoughtful emails all the time and cares alot you can tell. She is a beautiful person inside and out! A++++
Prof Satkoski is the best here. Take whatever she is teaching bc you wont regret it. Only thing is I wish she taught more classes or one after the civics class bc I wish I could take her again. highly recommend!!!!!
Courtney is awesome! :) I wanted her since my roomie had her last year and she is the sweetest most inspiring person you'll ever meet. I wish I had her in person instead of online because of Covid but even so she made her online class better than the classes I had on campus. She is very organized and tells such heartfelt stories. Love her!!
If you need this class take her. Class was online bc/covid but I took her instead of a guy on campus when I hate online bc of her ratings. She's cool and the only class I didn't. drop. She actually cares and tells cool stories. The project is alot of work but I waited til the last min so thats on me but you do have a big req group project
Ive never had a teacher care as much as she does. She sends emails all the time that remind you of what to do and they help alot. She also sends motivational emails and shares really incredible stories in class. If you need to take this class take her. She is such a beautiful person and does so much to help people. YOu'll be inspired by her.
Satkoski is really nice and obviously cares about what she teaches. I liked the class as a whole; it's based around one semester-long group project and the lectures are mostly participation. Two tips for anyone who wants to take her class: she loves students who participate, and DON'T MISS LECTURES. 1 missed lecture brings your final grade down 5%.
Courtney is awesome. She is direct with what you need to do and shows examples and is very thorough. Ive never had a prof who cared as much as her or who helped us keep by sending reminders and posts the whole semester before classes start etc Thats really helpful for scheduling and you can tell that she cares about all people and is a cool person
Just like what everyone says on here shes def the best at FGCU and super sweet but you do for real cry in every class because she tells stories about her life and what she does for her own agency and its so inspiring and giving. When she tells it you choke up and want to be like her for real ;0)
Favorite prof!
Courtney has to be the busiest person on campus but is there for you and gives the best feedback of any Prof. Your not just a number bc she cares. I don't know how she does it all bc even her emails are beautiful and make me cry or feel happy. I was struggling a lot this year and would have dropped out of school had it not been for her.
Most incredible class!!! I learned/grew more from her in a few months than I did in 3 years at FGCU. No-one tops Courtney ;))) also i had a crappy semester/dropped all classes but hers. She is the only teacher who knew my name and cared about me- which meant alot with how crappy my year has been. HAndsdown favorite class/Prof
Courtney is the best! Just wish she taught more classes I needed. I took Hum b/c I had to for my major and didn't know it would end up being my favorite class and prof. Not to sound dramatic but it changed my life. I haven't felt hopeful since covid but she changed that. So inspiring and caring!
She was recommended by my advisor so I took her. Awesome prof/ best class at fgcu. Highly Recomm bc she spends time to explain things so getting a good grade is possible because she shows ex's, goes over stuff, replies fast, actually cares and emails a lot. Project takes a lot of work and time but class is not hard. Really cool and easy to talk to
Shes very nice and helpful, overall its an easy class if you put the work into it
Very nice person, not so great professor. Theres a required service learning project for 10 hours, but takes a lot of work and free time. After 2 absences you get points taken off your final grade. I was genuinely sick a lot this semester which meant I failed the class no matter what from my attendance. Assignments are very confusing w no rubrics.
attendance is MANDATORY- 5 points off overall grade if you miss more than 2 classes. Took honors section with her (20 service hours instead of 10). Had issues with community partner and she handled everything, she's an amazing professor to take for this course. Very clear & structured canvas, and in-depth emails every week. Very approachable & nice
Courtney is the best professor I've had in my college experience. She genuinely cares about each student and wants to help everyone succeed. Attendance is mandatory, 2 free absences and after that, 5 points is deducted off final grade. The class revolves around a group project & in class readings and discussions. This class will change your life!
I can't recommend Prof. Satkoski enough for Foundations of Civic Engagement! She is a great person and tells you various stories of what she's done throughout her life and really puts the importance of this class into perspective. As long as you put in the effort for your project and show up to class with the readings done, you will be good to go!
I enjoyed Prof. Satkoski's class, she has a lot to say. Textbooks are required. There are 2 major papers. 1st worth 100 points and is a proposal paper for the service learning you choose to do, & the 2nd is worth 200 points (it can drop you a few letter grades), it's a reflection essay of 2k words based on your service learning. Do it ahead of time
Courtney is the most beautiful human inside and out! Like others said she inspires you to be a better person by what she does and even though she is super busy and successful and runs different charities she is kind and easy to talk to. I love her stories and wish she offered more classes in my major. Best prof on campus!
There is a required group service project but she makes the class 100x more enjoyable than any other group class I've had. She is very clear with what she wants so if you do the work, you're set. People who complain don't show up or are used to skating by on their teammates. I love that she doesn't let other students mooch off us good students. A+
Just take her ahah she's the best! I've taken two classes with Courtney and both were great. You can get your service hours done in her class (highly recommend) and you learn a lot from her besides the class stuff because she is really involved in everything and shares those experiences. She is the busiest but most inspiring teacher!
Prof Courtney is a must take!! Very inspiring person and interesting class. There is a group service project but it's organized well and she sends detailed emails that help you stay on top of things. Sweet person and easy to talk to. Clear expectations and very fair and upfront with what to do. Not a hard class but a great professor and person
Courtney is very kind, smart, and understanding. It's easy to go up to her if you need help or have questions. This is a service-based class so you have to complete 10 hours of service. There are weekly 5-question quizzes and all the assignments are easy. She has a very clear grading criteria. I highly recommend this professor!
Courtney is a true inspiration. She is the best professor I have had to date. She has the most clear grading criteria, and spells out every assignment for you so there is no way for confusion. There is a group project with service-learning hours, so make sure you are interested in the project you decide. She is wonderful! Very caring/understanding.
I took prof Satkoski's honors section and it was quite challenging. We had to complete 20 hours of service and all the assignments for the course. The course heavily relies on group work which can sometimes be a challenge. However, I loved the organization and clear instructions, and she is also very passionate about the course. I'd take her again!
Courtney is all the hype. I took her class by chance bc I needed a summer credit and she rated high here. Well it ended up being my favorite course and prof. No teacher puts in as much effort or passion as she does and you get time to work on your project. She tells cool stories and is the only class I actually enjoyed this summer. Cool person to
Courtney is such a great person!!! I've never had a teacher care so much or be as organized. You can tell she is really passionate about helping people and even though the group service project was out of my comfort zone she helped us a lot so we were successful esp in a sum A class I learned a lot. Easily the best prof on campus & will take again!
Courtney so inspiring and a good storyteller. I wish I had waited to take her in fall to get more time with her but it was my favorite class ive had. Taking her Civics class in Aug and like others said shes orgnaized/fun/caring and keeps bad group people accountable. You read/do a project but she makes the class really good! A must take Prof here
Took her Hum class this summer and she really helped me and my team when we struggled to get a place to volunteer at. Shes really understanding and got us through the term and wrote really long and nice feedback. I just wanted to pass the class and ended up with an A-. I def would have dropped lol if i had taken another teacher. Really love her
Has req group project but not hard if you take Satkoski with how she runs the class plus you get service hours you need. Very fair bc you don't have to deal with lazy teammates and can fire them. Her emails and syllabus make it easy to do good. Class is pretty easy and quizzes are open book. No mid term or final. Def take her imo for summer hum
Courtney's the best here Had her for Civics and loved the class. Top notch prof
Great class and really sweet person! You'll fall in love with her too bc she is so nice and does a lot of service. Unlike nost teachers here she actually gives back to the community. Shes really impressive career wise (I googled her aha) and has won like a hundred awards. Loved her summer class so much im taking her other class in fall
My advisor told me to take her in particular and so I did because I needed this class and she ended up being my favorite professor. It's hard to explain but like everyone else on here says she does a ton for others but is also like a powerhouse and so kind. She s basically perfect ahah jk but Courtney is for real beautiful inside and out
I cannot say enough good thinks about prof. Satkoski. She is the most caring person and after just going thru 2 hurricanes that stuff matters and she kept the class on track and sent emails that made me tear up. She cares more than anyone and makes the class interesting. She's got an unreal resume and is a incredible person on top of it all
Professor Courtney is passionate and organized. The class can be challenging with a required group service project, but she makes it engaging and supports students. I found Unstuck AI helpful for managing the workload. Overall, a rewarding class with an inspiring instructor.
Very amazing!! Explained every assignment perfectly and even reordered the class' assignments to be easier and make more sense. Very inspirational she has done so much for the community you can't help but want to do more too
She's so passionate that it's a bad thing. Every missed class is -25 points, even though its just her speaking about assignments or her non profit for old people with dementia. There are other Civic engagement professors who won't make you write a 6 page essay and understand that we have a life outside of this class that I'm being forced to take.
She was nice and understanding. So much extra credit for easy participation, perfect attendance, or good grades. Her work is tedious however and requires much more effort compared to other classes. It burned me out! She also LOVES talking. Great woman but I'd take an easier professor if I were to take this class again. Honors section not worth it.
She was super kind and helpful! She will do whatever you need to help you, she has so much passion for what she is teaching and provides so many ways to make sure you have an A!
Courtney is the best teacher! Even the 1 or 2 "nonperfct 5.0" ratings on here out of 160 are bc they said she was too caring or volunteers too much lol You can't win with people who dock you for going over and beyond like be so for real. Courtney is the best and anyone who says anything else is jealous of how much everyone loves her. Great human!
I took her bc of these ratings/my advisor recom her specifically and I'm so glad I did. I've never had a more organized/passionate prof at FGCU or UCF. I wish she taught more classes but i can see why fgcu wants her to teach this one bc she is such an inspiration/walks the walk unlike half the people here. Highly recommend her/pretty easy class
Class was required for me and I was dreading it bc I hate group work & don't have time for volunteering/always get screwed in groups but she sets it up so that doesn't happen. You have to do a vol project for class regardless of who you take so take her if you can. Def best prof bc she actually helps you. Hot af to lol so nice to look at
Courtney is amazing! I've taken 3 of her classes and graduate this semester. She goes over and beyond constantly and was the only reason I loved doing service and now have a job lined up. She's very passionate and successful but also really sweet and caring. Beautiful human inside and out! Highly recommend any class she teaches!
This is my first class with Professor Courtney and she has already given me more feedback than any other teacher. She puts a lot of time and care into your grades which is nice when you spend so much time on class stuff. She's really nice and inspiring and it's easy to understand what she wants for work with her guidelines.
Miss Courtney is such a kind person. She is a great teachers and cares so much about others that you can't help but be inspired. She gives a lot of good feedback and classes are interesting and she sends weekly reports to help remind you of due dates and things to help you. She's my favorite teacher ever :)) and very involved.
Took this class instead of Colloqum and am glad! Great teacher! Straightforward class and Courtney gives a lot of help. Took her based on recs and my adviser. Her class's fill up pretty fast so id make sure you get it with her bc she's the best one. Cool lady and does a lot for people so gets what it takes. Not a hard class if you do the work.
I was dreading this class and waited til my last year because of the community service. Everyone said to take her specific bc project stuff is required for this class regardless of teacher. Courtney was awesome! Finished my hours and enjoyed her a lot. Project wasn't bad bc she does a lot to help and is organized. If you need this class, take her.
Courtney is such a sweetheart! :) I loved her class and learned so much from her! My group awesome too and it was the first class I had where I actually enjoyed a group assignment but thats because she does a lot to help you set up your group and project so you aren't unfairly penalized because of crappy teammates. Loved loved her so much!
100% take her! She for real does a million things and still makes you feel like you matter. Our group got screwed by our agency and she moved mountains to help us when she didn't have to and it was my favorite class so far here. Class isn't hard if you show up and she gives all the guidelines day one so it's very clear with great feedback! ;)
Took class bc req & chose her bc her ratings here/rec from my college adviser and glad I did. Everything is clear/detail and you know what is due all year from the jump. Shes a nice/cool person and makes a group sl class possible with how she orgs it/goes over 'n beyond. If you need this class, def take her. Top rated teacher and my fav at fgcu.
Courtney stayed late almost every class to talk to me about things outside of class and cared when no one else here even replied to my emails. She does a lot of stuff but was always there when I needed her and went out of her way for our group also. Class is fun and she is beautiful on the inside and out.
Prof Sat is the best! Had her for summer civics and think about her all the time. My favorite teacher here and my two roommates have her now and say same thing. She is rly passionate about volunteering and is inspiring. Class is organized and was first time I didn't hate doing a group project bc she sets it up so good. Def pick her! Cool class
Prof Sat is such an inspiration! If you want to get involved in volunteer stuff take her because you will have lots of chances to. She makes the project very clear/organised and lets anyone volunteer with her at her charity events which is cool. She cares a lot about you as a person inside also. Her classes wait list early but are worth it ;)
Courtney is the goat!!!! No matter what happens she still does it all perfect and helps you. Her house was destroyed during our class by a freak accident and she had to move and she still did volunteer events and was my fav prof. Shes easily the best teacher and someone I look up to outside of class. Awesome person and role model :))))
Took her Civics class this semester & loved it ;) Easily my favorite class/prof at FGCU! She really cares about her students & the community & even when her own house was destroyed at the start of the term by a water leak she still gave us 150%! She's an awesome human & role model! Can't recommend enough taking any class she teaches!!!!
