Agree with previous post. He means well, but ISN'T. He's very confusing. Class was mostly test That I failed miserably and one paper. Somehow got an A in the class. If you get him and try, you'll pass but want nothing to do with Psyc ever again lol. He is a nice guy, but needs to plan ahead!

he doesnt know anything. he was very unclear. i failed the class and ended up taking it again with a different teacher and im passing with a low A. hes a horrible teacher. alot of learning on your own.

used to love psychology but now I hate it. You take quizzes even before you learn the material. Talks very slow and never finishes the lesson all the way through. Does not explain everything completely and is all over the places with lectures.

He never finishes a lesson. When he speaks, he seems to repeat the same thing in different words making the lesson move slow. He does randomly call on you to answer questions but is accepting if you don't know the answer. Difficult material presented in a difficult manner.

Wasn't clear on anything. A simple question would turn into the most complex answer ever. You can spend hours on a project, make it perfect, and he will still find a reason to give you half credit.

It would be one thing to run out of time and not cover the whole lesson plans, but this man literally goes on and on about the most unrelated topics. If you ask a question, he'll take 10 min. to try and answer, but really he dances around the question. He also marked questions on my tests wrong&when pointed out he asked if I want the pts that bad

This class would be effective if you were a robot. He literally just reads the powerpoint he gives you ahead of time, he's just repeating words. The topics he talks about could be learned verbatim from the book. Don't waste your time. Cold and condescending person.

he explains things clearly but he grades this as a 4060 class. Don't explect to do well on the preps because the questions are vague and tons of questions that are not in the book or not explained well enough. Beware of projects, he grades them even harder.

Very hard to understand, will not clarify topics very well. You need to read the book and take notes before the lecture, then take a quiz on it, and take notes again during the lecture in order to get an A.

This man is not only the worst professor I have ever had but he is indeed one of the most disrespectful human beings on the planet. He is rude and sarcastic when unnecessary, his projects are absolutely ridiculous and during his lectures, he makes no sense. DO NOT TAKE THIS MANS CLASS.

Professor makes students feel like they arent intelligent enough to be successful. Professor is a harsh grader often critiquing an assignment based on opinion. Professor gives assignments with many requirements yet offers very little points possible.

I do not understand why professors like this guy deem it necessary, to grade as tough as this man. Number one, this man is teaching at a community college, calm down buddy. This professor was by far the worst professor I ever had. No matter how hard I tried on the projects he would still mark half off. The quizzes are 20 questions and you have 20 mins they are hard because he makes us take it before going over the material. Not to mention how he leaves rude comments when he is when grading your assignments.

Do not take this class. This professor makes the class 110% harder then it needs to be. His grading is very unclear, hell mark you down on projects and wont provide valid feedback on why you were marked down. Hes rude and demeaning Towards students and has no business being a professor. Avoid him.

Professor Ferrell is one of the worst Psych Professors ever. He treats his students like high school students and he doesnt know how to teach. He assigns projects that are very hard and he never goes over it. DONT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR

Entry level class and he doesnt treat it that way. Gives you more work than anatomy which is ridiculous and doesnt know how to give lectures. Easily distracted and fails you for making a simple mistake on something. Class stresses you out and makes you miserable. Do not take.

I cannot stress myself enough when I say DO NOT take his class. unless you like to fail, DO NOT take his class. he will fail you. gives too much homework. and literally if you walk in 5 seconds late he will call you out and mark you tardy. Goodluck to anyone who takes his class!

I have never in my life had a class as hard as this especially when its an intro level class save yourself the trouble and avoid his class his grading is ridiculous and he made me feel like I had the intelligence of a toddler I couldnt do anything good enough and he expects you to be an English major in your work why is he teaching an into class?

Coy Ferrell is a horrible teacher. He doesn't know how to answer student's questions. He grades SOOOO Hard. He is so rude in his comments. I do not recommend him to anyone. He should be fired. He acts all mighty.

Coy Ferrell is THE WORST Professor ever. If you are not a psych or English major do not take this course. Professor Ferrell Claims he is helpful when grading but in reality he is rude, unfair and not helpful at all. He is easily distracted in lecture and has a hard time staying focused in his lecture. His lectures are also long and hard to sit in.

You learn a lot of content, but he grades hard unnecessarily. Treats it like a graduate class because he thinks everyone in the class is going to medical school. If you're just trying to get humanities credit, don't pick this professor.

when i tell you i havent had a professor like him make me feel so horrible and worthless over my education and grades, i mean it. he grades assignments like no other. he marked me down for using the word so as a transition word. he gave criticism in the worst, most harsh way possible. i wouldnt recommend him to my worst enemy. save yourself

Took this class Spring '20 when classes switched online half-way through. In person, lectures were long and boring and he was terrible at teaching. Online, it only got worse. He posted 3hr long lectures. He has a monotone voice and has a terrible attitude when teaching. Would never recommend this teacher. Takes off points for no reason when grading

This professor was by far the WORST professor I have ever had at Macomb. When I had failed my paper, I had requested what he asked for as a mulligan. He told me to not waste his time with poor effort, as he would not grade it. Why would I be asking for another chance if I was not going to put in 100% effort. He is rude and unkind. DO NOT TAKE!

On the first day of class, he said "I am not patient," and "I am going to challenge you." I don't mind a challenge, but when a teacher deliberately says they are not going to help you learn it makes me wonder why they are even a teacher at all. All I could think on the first day of class is, why does this man hate me?

I hate this man. His lectures so go on forever. We write plenty essays and hes such a TOUGH GRADER. the only reason i failed is because of my essay grades. He gets funnier as the class progresses, but oh my god he grades so damn harsh. he expects you to know the chapter before wework on it, andmakes the quiz for the chapter due 30 mins b4 class...

5 exams, very tough grader, very lecture heavy, and gets sidetracked. Very stressful

Mr. Ferrell was very unpersonable, unfunny, and just all-around difficult to get along with both inside and outside of the classroom. During his lectures he was extremely monotonous which made it much harder to stay focused and attentive to the material. His exams were rarely relative to the material discussed, so bad grades were normal.

awful, just awful-- stopped showing up after a while and dropped the class because of how terrible of a professor he is. cracks a few funny jokes here and there but that isn't enough to make the class forget how monotone he is during his lectures or how harsh he is when it comes to a INTRO class, i'd understand if it was a higher class but nope!

DO NOT choose this professor, his lectures are long, he is critical, and it is impossible to earn a good grade on any assignment in his class. While giving feedback on assignments he criticizes your thoughts and writing style instead of focusing on grading the work.

If I could rate him a 0 I would. He gives out a essay almost every week along with projects due the same week. Everytime I ask him a question he just beats around the bush. His essays and the instructions for it make the class feel like an english class. When I say he marks down points for the tiniest things I mean it. Horrible professor. Horrible.

He goes on monotonous tangents that are unrelated to course material. This is a Psychology course, but you will find that he nitpicks extraneous errors instead of true understanding of the course material itself. This is his life, and this job is his self appointed pedestal. The reviews don't lie, which makes his position evermore questionable.

There is a clear dissonance between his grading rubrics and his feedback comments on assignments. He truly picks-and-chooses where to take off points, and is closed-minded when brought up to him-- in fact he actually took offense when I did. Transferred to Umich and never had a professor this disengaging, confusing, and frustrating again. Truly.

Disengaged, monotone 30-slide powerpoint lectures every class. His grading is subjective and does not relate to his rubric. Asked him about a questionable grade on an essay, and he said "figure it out yourself". Wondering if he reads the professor evals at the end of the semester. He's directly failing me right now, and there's no dean here. smh.

Professor required us to send in yoga videos. If you're a girl, don't take this class. Wandering eyes, awkward professor-- overall rude guy. Talks about his personal accounts in the Navy(?) more than psychology, and stumbles through PowerPoints like a game of operation on Parkinson's. I came back after 3 years to write this review. Mean, unhelpful,& dismissive. All tests, no support. Obnoxious, creepy,&critiques writing style over substance. Picks & chooses when to take off points, often for petty reasons. This class felt like punishment. One project he required we sent in multiple videos of us doing yoga and took points off if we didn't. Often got way too personal w/ girls

The professor frequently changes assignment and project rules without informing the class. His teaching skills are not as strong as those of previous professors I've had.

DO NOT take this prof. Looked up the reviews before the class started and it was my fault for NOT dropping the class when I saw the horrible reviews. SO harsh on essays. SUPER rude with feedback he gives back on essays. Made me feel so stupid and dumb. There is a difference between strict and disrespectful. He is DISRESPECTFUL.

I would not recommend this class with anybody who has/had an IEP. He would give long and unnecessary information about what chapter we are learning about. But after every exam, he would ask if anybody would stay back and learn more information about the next one. At some point, he did make some uncomfortable remarks. I would not take this class

I would wake up and get Starbucks as a reward for going to his class. Stopped putting my seatbelt on and would drive 10 over speed limit hoping I wouldn't make it to his class.
