Engaging, always makes sure the class understands, all-around good prof.
Very knowledgeable. Easy to ask question, very good website with an active discussion page.
extremely knowledgable and stresses participation and feedback from class.
Very enthusiastic about the subject and up to date on current techniques in the States, Canada and Britain. Gets a little carried away and the lectures can be long, but forgiveable because he truly loves the subject.
Very interesting class! Prof knows his stuff and has a great sense of humour! Learned so much in this course!
Great teacher. Explains everything clearly, and when I didn't get something, he helped me get it! Awsome!
challenging course but hes an excellent prof, one of the few with a great sense of humour
Good solid instructor. Nothing flashy, but you can't go wrong.
Awesome class
Great course! He made it very easy to follow and the content was always very interesting...he even brings in a few guest speakers to livin' things up a bit! BUT the tests are pretty hard and you HAVE to know EVERYTHING!!!
This guy is hilarious, the class is great!
Absolutely Adorable!A Prof who is both extremely intelligent, hilarious, entertaining and easy to talk to!You can't go wrong with him.If you go to each lecture and do the readings you'll have no trouble making the grade.Gotta love those McDonald jokes!
Best prof at Carleton. Makes forensics a great class. Cares about his students. FOR ONCE A PROF WHO ISN'T FULL OF HIMSELF!!!!!!!!

Well done Craig! Look, you're on the HOT list!! Quite a story since your first class that I attended isn't it...
So cute!! He's absolutely adorable. Hes very personable and he makes the class very interesting and not mundane. He makes great notes and is very clear and to the point. I found that his exams were quite challenging, you defiantly have to pay attention.
Loved him. Way too cute; I wanna marry him. Exams not hard as long as you study his notes. Could listen to him all day.
This guy is a great prof. and he makes the course all the more interesting. those of you who want him so bad calm down **** he has a famliy, this ain't high school get a hold of yourselves. damn ****
Loves him...want to jump his bones!!! Craig I want to have your children. Great prof!!!
INSPIRING... you can always tell when a person enjoys their job. this man, ladies and gentlemen, enjoys his job.
He's not THAT hot people...gee whiz! haha, not bad looking either. His exams are challenging though -- watch out for the M/C it seems like a lot of the answers were related. Class avg. was 65% for midterm 1 and there were short answers although I did well on them. D overall for midterm 1 sucks thoug
Great prof, really informative and interesting. Clearly enjoys his job and helps students out when they need him. Exam is a bit on the hard side, but as long as you prepare enough, you're good. Excellent prof, Recommended.
Craig is one of the best profs that I've had so far at Carleton. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Take his courses if you can. He's also very easy on the eyes... so hot!
As with everyone else, I totally loved Craig's class...considering I'm not used to having short answer on my exams, I felt his short answer questions were to the point...not tricky at all. If you can get into Craig's class, you are going to love it! Good luck to you all!
Awesome class and an awesome professor!! Fair tests, and interesting topics covered!!
Craig is the most down-to-earth prof. out there, gives detailed lecture notes, and 80% of the test q'ns are derived from them. Wrote the first university-level Forensics book published in Canada. A rare prof. who provides insightful career & graduate advice. Very thorough classes; you leave feeling you got your money's worth. Only con: Craig lets those at the back get away with non-stop talking...to the inconsiderate: STAY AT HOME!
BEST prof i've had so far. He knows his stuff and communicates it well. All evaluations are fair but comprehensive. You learn a ton of stuff, and he always presents as many perspectives as possible so you can form your own opinions. Also has a good sense of humour, so classes are light and fun. Very well organized too.
He is knowledgable, but only about his field. He has other priorities besides teaching.
HE'S SOOO HOT...and smart too! This class was very interesting and super easy (got 87% on midterm, barely studied)...he obviously enjoys talking and teaching forensics/psychology...I encourage EVERYONE to take this course!
took this class a couple years ago and he was totally hot and nice- he actually let me do the make-up exam just 'cause i was leaving early for spring break!
the bomb, take his classes, he is a beauty
He is so smart and so funny and so cool! I love him!
pretty much the best prof EVER!
Okay ladies and gentlemen...This prof is the talk of the town. All the girls at my office talk about him all the time. Not only is he the easiest prof to understand, most helpful, and co-wrote a wicked text, he is by far the easiest on the eyes. And for that...I'd like to thank the hiring committee on that one!
Prof is the best. Long assignments but was given lots of time and assistance to prepare. The info was awesome for helping with preparing for your Thesis.
i think his exams are really easy, but the marking is a b**tch. overall, the course content made it more easier to pay attention. good prof
i like his class, it wasn't too intimidating. he keeps it interesting w/ occasional jokes n experiences.
Good professor, makes a few hours of learning easier to accept. Light and fun with his content! Exams are harder then you would expect with his teaching style. Focuses more on lecture content than text.
The man knows what he's talking about, he makes the objectives so clear that if you do poorly it's your own problem... The material is interesting and he is such an expert you want to listen to him.
good prof but rambles a lot doesnt have great notes, but lectures are ok, his tests are about 80 % lectures 20 % text, but doesnt make clear what to know, makes students read to much crap thats not needed, overall if you study his notes and skim the text you can pull off an A no prob
Who said he was hot?? hahaha...No but seriously he is an amazing tecaher, he really knows his stuff, i would reccomend anything he teaches!!
Very very sexy, and a pretty good prof, too. He's funny and charismatic and the course was very interesting. The textbook was fabulous. Exams are completely fair, but include a lot of material not found on the slides or in lectures (meaning - take good notes and keep up with readings).
Chris definitely knows what he's talking about and likes to tell little stories here and there to give us a laugh and keep things interesting. Make sure to go to class, as he mentions things not on the slides or in the text (AND HE MIGHT BRING YOU SOME CHOCOLATE!) A great teacher and all around guy. Looking forward to taking other classes with him.
I was excited because Craig was a good guest lecturer in 2400, but that was a mistake. Far more interesting as a guest lecturer than for this class. Textbook was terrible, multiple choice questions seemed easy until marks come back. Don't take with him unless you must.
Awesome prof. He is actually hilarious in class - and more so out of class. Material he covers is so interesting. Although some of the guest lectures he brings in are boring - and you wish that it was him teaching and not the guest. Exams are very fair. You need to study, and if you do, the exam will be a breeze. Best prof I have had.
Well if u take his class u will notice he says "and so on and so forth" quite a bit. ha ha. Overall though he is a really good prof interesting and to the point. I didn't even buy the text book, I just used his lecture notes and watched the classes and got a decent mark. Just memorize the notes and you'll be fine. He uses web CT very informatively
excellent professor!
He is a fair professor and is good at keeping lectures interesting with relevant anecdotes for the majority of his lecture material. He believes that you should learn the content as opposed to simple regurgitation; memorization will not help you here. Excellent at providing relevant career information along with sources of relevant information.
Craig was great, clear and engaging. Actually gets you to learn the material rather then memorizing stuff, like other classes. I actually feel like I learned something from his class, which is somewhat rare in psychology classes at Carleton
Loved him! He is so funny and entertaining that you don't even realize you're learning anything. He makes the most boring parts of the lectures fascinating and is guaranteed to make you laugh. He makes it less painful to have to drag yourself to class early in the morning. His exams are extremely fair/easy. TAKE HIM!!!
Craig is an amazing professor, he is by far one of the best profs i have had in the last 3 years. there was never a boaring moment in his lectures, he extremely gifted in the way he keeps his students interested in his lectures and he makes himself very available for office hours. By far one of the best profs & he wants to actually see his student
Craig is an amazing professor. His lectures were the first I'd actually look forward to each week. He's a down to earth guy and tries his best to help you out if you ask for it. The only thing I didn't like was the way he formulates multiple choice for his exams. Many of them were "choose the best answer", and not "choose the right answer".
Amazing professor, haha and nice to look at!
Soo funny without even trying to be funny. Really helpful prof...knows what he is talking about. Really cute too.
Good prof. Although needs a pin to help deflate that head of his (go see him in his office hours, you will know what I mean).
He's a good one
A lot of information to get your head around, but an A+ plus. Only too willing to go over things if you do not understand. Craig is one of the best profs at Carleton.
Awesome prof, Easy A. Before the midterm and final he gives a checklist, know everything on there and you are guaranteed a good mark. Exams are very easy and he will pretty much tell you the questions if you ask. TAKE THIS COURSE WITH HIM!
I wish this guy taught all the psych classes. He's young, funny, and chill. You can get a decent mark with out going to class, but he's so enjoyable why would you not want to go? If you were ever going to get an A+ it will be from this guy.
Great professor with an understanding of students and what he teaches. His youth definately assist in connecting with his students. He's not easy but he's fair, that's pretty much the best you can ask for!
A really awesome professor! Genuinely interesting and makes class a whole lot of fun!!! Definitely recommended!
Great prof!
Best prof I have ever had. He is so smart and is a natural teacher. The subject was in itself interesting, but he made it even better. Wish he taught all Psyc courses! Hilarious and extremely cute. Tests were very straight forward, no surprises. Easy A. Would be even better without the boring guest lectures.
Can't speak highly enough of him. Clear, concise, follows up on questions from previous classes. Very funny, speaks with a lot of experience despite his younger age, and as someone else said, chill. Looking for more classes to take with him. You have to work, but it's rewarded. Accommodating to student needs.
Great professor. The book supports the lectures (slides) but you really only need to attend class and list to what he says, taking notes. Very accessible outside of class and is willing to help guide you on your track to grad school (he's no pushy). He really looks out for his students. His tests are laid out logically.
Cannot recommend highly enough. The class is interesting (so is the material). One midterm, one exam - he tests you on concepts and basic understanding. He genuinely wants you to learn and pass the course. Also available outside of class to talk about grad school. He's the kind of person that wants the best for you.
I took a few classes with him although he can be a hard marker on the short/long answers he does not expect us to just reproduce information which is a good change at this school but he also provides us with the tools to answer them correctly. he will follow up on questions he could not answer in the class even if it pertains to class or not. GOOD
He was FANTASTIC. Finished with an A+ and it was not that much work. Do your readings, make notes on the readings, and ATTEND CLASS. Midterm and exam were extremely fair, no tricky questions. He is more than willing to talk about grad school and answer any questions you may have. highly recommend him.
Great prof, super helpful. Watch out for his grading methods though: only a mid-term and final exam, and they're not exactly long exams. Worth 50% each and out of ~60 (if memory serves right), so if you do poorly on the mid-term, you'll be hard pressed to bring your mark up on the final. Loads of pressure, but enjoyed his class thoroughly.
The man tries to be a people pleaser in class, and also has a big ego. I know of at least one student who tried to argue his course grade and this professor refused to budge or even cut them some slack on it.Could have been much more helpful during so called review classes as per covering the material in more depth and detail.
Great prof. Knows what he's talking about. Makes class interesting and very funny. Take his class whenever you can.
His class was interesting! He gives helpful tips for the exam for those who attend and explained forensic concepts very well! Read the book and study his slides!
By far my favorite prof to date. Really easy going guy, presents all course information with clarity and great examples. Loves what he teaches and it really shows. Take his class!
Loved this class. I highly recommend it. Great prof! Definately, cares about his students and responds quickly to any emails. Great sense of humor.
AMAZING PROF! He really cares about his students and provides you with everthing you need to succeed in his course. Great knowledge of the textbook as he is one of the writers. Likes to mix up class with videos that are super interesting! Highly recommend!!
Loved his class. He makes the class absolutely interesting. Very funny and very good looking.
MY FAVOURITE PROFF! His humour makes me love attending class, he's super clean-cut with his material and very easy to understand. Plus he makes Seinfeld references all the time -- definitely a bonus! Recommend you to take a class with him, he's great!
Love Professor Bennell! He has a great sense of humour, he's knowledgable, and he's great on the eyes! His course is simple if you attend the lectures, take good notes, and do the readings! He loves helping his students and answers your questions/concerns as fast as he can. I definitely recommend taking any course with him!
This class was amazing! The material was clear, and the notes were great! You need the text to read material that is testable but not covered in class. Craig was always clear and would try to make the class as fun as possible! He is actually quite funny, and it's easy to lose track of time! Highly recommended!
Great Prof. Made Forensic Psyc so much fun! While you have to work for it, defiantly worth it. Knows his stuff very well.
He is simply amazing. Funny, good-looking, engaging, and knowledgeable. (Note: He tells you exactly what will be on the exams!) He made me love forensic psych and decide to do my honours seminar on it. Never before have I received a 105% on a exam, but here I did! And overall a 98% in the course. I cannot recommend him enough!
Really wants all of his students to succeed. The material is ridiculously easy. Sometimes not the most interesting material, boring lectures, but very easy to memorize. Only a midterm and final, 50% each. Gave bonus questions on the final to boost marks, I ended up with 100% on it and an A+. Very easy A, I would recommend it as a bird course.
I took a seminar with Craig and he was very knowledgeable, as well as a really friendly and funny guy. DAE think he sounds and looks like Seth Rogan?? I thought it was awesome.
Professional Bennell is easily one of my favorite profs at Carleton. His lectures are very interesting, and his exams are very fair and don't try to trick you. I would recommend taking a course with him.
He's an awesome professor! If you go to every class and read the textbook then you'll get an awesome grade! I did find that few of the exam questions were a bit tricky, make sure to carefully read every one.
I enjoyed my class with him very much. He is well spoken and funny. He is also very involved in the field of forensic psych. I would definitely take a class with him again. Evaluations were a few online quizzes (MC), a midterm exam (MC & short answer), and a final exam (MC & short answer).
Good Prof! Interesting Lecture! Would recommend both the class and the professor.
Huge Ego. Lies to your face when faced with an issue. Not a bad prof. But don't ever get yourself in a pickle. He won't help you.
Very knowledgeable and an engaging prof - his slide decks are too long (70+ slides weekly) - doesn't always go into enough detail on course content in lectures - overall decent prof but classes would be more enjoyable if he made them relatable
Take him! Such a good prof! Only thing is is that he usually goes the full 3 hour length or pretty close to it! Such a good class though. he really cares about his students understanding and succeeding. He has does partly test from the textbook though so you'll have to read to get that A + but can still do reasonably well without.
Super interesting lectures, nice, approachable guy. Need the textbook for quizzes and exams worth a lot of your mark but lays out clearly what you need to know.
loved this class and the prof! very fair and clear in his expectations for what is covered on the exams
Prof Bennell is by far my favorite psychology teacher at Carleton. Has weekly open book quizzes and there is one midterm and a final. He has a clear grading criteria and often tells you exactly what will be on the exam. Makes the class super interesting and is a fair grader. If you have the chance definitely take him! Textbook is a MUST for quizes!
Can't say enough good things about Craig. Forensic Psychology was amazing with him. If you're wondering if you should take his class, the answer is yes. He's a great prof. A wonderful person.
Very enthusiastic and a strong lecturer who knows his stuff. Open-book, not-timed on-line quizzes are easy grade boost.
He's so caring and you can tell he loves teaching. The lectures were super interesting even if they were 3 hours long. Two 45% exams and a few quizzes worth 10% for extra marks in the class. I would love to take another class with him! Take his class if you have the chance.
Craig is an amazing professor and a great person. I would highly recommend taking any of his courses or becoming involved in his lab. He cares about his students and is all around a great human. Would recommend getting the textbook as the answers to the weekly quizzes are word for word in the textbook.
Hilarious, personable, interesting! Exams are pretty easy (multiple choice and some short answer) and quizzes are easy to get 100% on as long as you have your textbook with you. Super interesting stuff and awesome prof to have! Looks like David Wallace and sounds like Seth Rogen, what more could you want in a prof?
Take this course online! Quizzes and exams are split between slideshows and textbooks but mostly slideshows. This course was far easier than PSYC2400 and is more than manageable to get an A+. Craig brings in other guest professors for the course who expand on the very interesting material!
Highly recommend Craig. He's very down to earth, funny, and seams to care about his students. The content is very intresting and it is fairly easy. The only critique I has is that because it's so intresting people ask lots of questions (more a con of the class - has nothing to do with Craig). I'd go out of my way to take a course just for Craig.
I love you Craig Bennell! <3<3<3<3
Craig is an amazing prof! He sets clear guidlines and lays out the necessary content very clearly. I took this class specifically because I enjoyed forensic psych with him so much! He is very easy to listen to in lectures and tells you specifically what is and what isn't important to know for exams.
Its easy to see that he cares about his students, as he sends out check in emails frequently, to help keep everyone on track in his online course. He is very kind and well spoken, and has a unique way of speaking in his lectures that make the material clear, interesting, and easy to understand.
I had a lot of things going on in my life and had never asked for an extension before, Craig was willing to give me one (under the right circumstances) twice. I thank him for being so understanding that we aren't just numbers in the system and real people with real lives and real problems outside of class and due dates. Would recommend.
Craig was the best professor Ive had in University so far! His lectures were interesting and engaging. He was extremely knowledgable and actually cares about his students. Ill be looking to take any course he teaches in the future.
I had Craig for a previous course and was excited when I found out he was teaching Police Psyc! I enjoyed being in this class. His quizzes and assignments were pretty easy when you pay attention to his lectures. He is always checking in weekly to see how we are doing and to make sure we're not behind on lectures. He also has guest lectures.
Craig's class was very good and organized. He will quickly reply to emails and is always available to answer questions. His lectures were actually interesting and I would always watch. I will definitely be taking any of his courses in the future.
Although this class is a lot work, it is not overly challenging work. As long as you keep up with the assignments and lectures you will get a good grade. Professor Bennell gives really good and informative lectures, with really interesting guest speakers.
Craig is an awesome prof, he is always willing to look over any issues you may have or respond to questions. His class is very organized and as long as you do the readings and watch the lectures you will be all set. I will definitely be taking a class with Craig again.
I really like Craig and thought the class was very interesting. There is a lot of work to do each week, but the material isn't hard. The criminal profiling assignment is really cool and interesting. I think the grading on the use of force assignment may have been biased, but overall great course and prof!
He's a really nice and approachable guy, and you can tell he really likes what he teaches. As a prof, he's great - if you're really interested in the course. As a bird course I don't really recommend, there's a lot of reading and tests are textbook heavy. But Craig is a great lecturer, and does care about his students.
Great class, his lectures are not difficult to follow and the content is interesting.
A really great professor! You can tell he really cares about his students! The content is overall pretty easy and his lectures are very interesting and easy to follow. The textbook is super helpful, especially because you have weekly online quizzes that deal with the textbook readings. The quizzes are really easy (open book, no time limit)!
Craig is great. Cares about students and it available for help outside of class. Easy to communicate with and fast answers on email. Lectures are material heavy. Good to read the text as it adds to the lectures. Adds in some of his field work which puts stuff in perspective. Knows his stuff. He is also funny. Online quizzes (openbook), easy marks
Took three classes with Craig over the years, and I have gotten an A+ in all of them! His lectures are very easy to follow. His exams are easy if you are good with memorization. His expectations are clear. Gives many hints about what will be on the exams and a study guide. By far the best psychology prof at Carleton!!
This was I believe Craig's first year teaching seminar. He was amazing! A well respected Prof who really looks out for his students and wants them to succeed. Always available to answer any questions and hear any feedback. Having seminar with him this year was a great experience and I learned alot from him as did everyone in his seminar!
Good prof!
Extremely knowledgeable and specific. His online format is the best I've seen yet with any course. Content is clear and relevant to the evaluations. His guest lectures are insanely interesting. Exams and quizzes are extremely fair. Content is pretty heavy but he always reminds the class for due dates. Overall, super awesome prof!
One of the best profs at Carleton. Super accessible and willing to help if you ever need help. Exams are easy if you study and quizzes are fair. his lectures are interesting and his online course set up is clear and accessable. If you have the chance take this class!
Craig seems super nice but I never interacted with him personally because of the poor asynchronous design. Course with him isn't too bad but lectures were tedious to get through and he appears to have strict grading criteria.
Great prof! Really cares about his students and makes learning fun! Highly recommend.
Best prof at Carleton! Always available to answer questions and really cares about his students. Makes class super interesting and knows his stuff. Would take any course that Professor Bennell teaches. Love him, love him, love him. A++++
It's not often that you meet a professor that cares as much as Craig. He wants his students to do well and is always available for extra help. This course was awesome. Really changed my views about policing. And he brings in really interesting guest speakers. Definitely take it if you get the chance. Thanks Craig!
probably the most caring and helpful professor ever. if you have a choice between somebody that isn't craig and craig.. pick craig. Honestly I do not have a single negative thing to say about him, going to his class is by far the best part of my week. I can't wait for winter break to be over so that I can come back again. epic guest lecturers too
Once again, the best professor! Take a class with him! Do it!
Really great class. Learned a lot. Good assignments. Awesome TA. Craig was funny, patient, and very knowledgeable. Best prof I have ever had. Willing to be flexible and always available. Definitely take the honours seminar with craig!
Love, love, love him!
Love love love this prof so much. You can tell he cares about the students achievements and wants us to succeed. Lectures were amazing and full of useful information. Exams are easy to do well on if you study the lectures. Quizzes and surveys were easy to complete with unlimited time. If you have the chance, take this professor!!
This guys is not only a walking encyclopedia of all things policing, he actually cares about his students inside and outside the classroom. Can't say enough good things about Craig. Fun, engaging, fair, compassionate with his students. Couldn't ask for a better prof. Take a class with him!
He is an incredible Prof. I would highly recommend taking his classes as you will really retain a lot from him. Very insightful, excellent lecturer.
You know the type of class where you don't learn the professor's name? He is the complete opposite, Craig makes such an amazing impression, he gave out candy in one of our classes, the guest speakers were engaging and rare, each examples made complex ideas easy. This was a summer course and he organized each class well, didn't feel rushed at all.
Very good professor. This class was an absolute wonder to take, and lectures were given to express knowledge about topics. The topics include but not limited to police selection, police stress, police use of force, and police discretion. He makes the marks clear and understandable, gives you expectations for what's on the exam.
he is awesome! graded by a few 5 quizzes 5 activity a midterm and a final. pretty simple and starightforward questions super approachable and super kind. would highly recommend his class
Craig is the best! I've two classes with him (Police Psych and Forensic Honours seminar) and have also been a TA for his class. Out of all the profs I've had, Craig cares the most about his students. He will always listen to recommendations and makes sure that everyone is comfortable. Everything is very clear from the get-go. Very fun classes too!
Did you know that Hans Selye was shot and killed after his neighbour mistook him for a bear? I didn't either until I took this class with Dr. Bennell! (IYKYK)
Professor Craig is exceptional - engaging lectures, helpful feedback, and a genuine investment in student success. Unstuck study was a game-changer for exam prep. Highly recommend this course!
Dr. Bennell is amazing! I just took his police psych course and I absolutely loved it, we had 5 quizzes, a couple bonus activities, a midterm and a final exam. He cares about his students and it is clear he wants us all to succeed. I would strongly recommend taking this course, or any course he teaches!
Craig is the best. He is genuinely inspiring and will help guide you to the right direction. He is the best prof I have ever had and he's just a chill guy. Super down to earth and gives amazing feedback. He deserves a raise…best prof at Carleton.
Craig is genuinely an amazing prof. His lectures are very engaging and If you put in the work you will surely get good grades. He does a review session before exams. Make sure to attend that to get a fair idea on how to prepare for exams. Forensic Psychology is a very interesting topic and I highly recommend you take it with Craig.
