I took Burnside for Bio I because no other teacher I wanted was available. He takes attendance every day. He post power points on Blackboard which serves as his lectures. He gives no quizzes. Theres I believe 3 or 4 exams along with your final which is cumaltive. He gives no review.My advice: TAKE ANOTHER TEACHER IF YOU CAN. But he's not too bad.

Burnside is hilarious! He explains things in a quirky way &makes complex concepts easy to understand. I learned more chemistry from him this semester than from my chem teacher! His tests were mostly from lecture. PAY ATTENTION. He offered extra credit opportunities, and gave us 10 points on one test just because! I loved his class.

Great personality. Goes off on random tangents to help you remember important information. Took it in the summer and a few of us got an A. I didn't even have any of the books. He is not to thorough with info and tests questions are pretty easy and from lecture slides.

Very funny guy. Keeps you awake and laughing with his stories. Does tend to get behind in material, but he takes his time explaining it and doesn't leave you in the dark. You don't really need the book, as all of the information you need is on his slides. He does take random attendance, so you have to go to class. Great class and professor.

Excellent teacher! Book not needed except for lab, test questions only come from his lectures and powerpoints so pay attention. Easy class as long as you make the best use of class time. He has easy extra credit opportunities, free quiz grades for attending class, and a few free questions on his test that reflect his great humor overall. I wish he taught lab! I recommend taking him (or any Bio class), if you plan on taking Anatomy & Physiology.

It's tough to get good marks in his class, you have to give it all, but the students get more knowledge & he is very helpful all one needs is to do is ask him. I would take him again.

I made A's on all the tests, but I studied for everyone of them. As long as you go to class and make time to at least study a little, there will be no problem passing. The only thing is he gets a little behind. I never needed the textbook because he posts notes on blackboard.

Dr. Burnside is one of those professors that you will remember after you graduate. He will challenge you to be a grown up, and actually learn the material, but he is there to help when you need it. Lab: Gives you a sheet with what you need to know for lab exams. Become expert on that, you'll make an 'a' on lab exams. Lecture: Gives powerpoints, print those, that's the test. He tells stories about his ex wife, the cowboys, his sister, pizza etc. remember those. He sometimes asks test questions over his life. Goofy guy, sometimes annoying.

He is very funny! His tests are extremely easy, just study the powerpoint. Participation is required. He tells personal stories that relate to the subject. He is an awesome teacher who can actually teach. He wants to see everyone succeed. No homework. No participation required. Pop quizzes that are straight foward.

Dr. Burnside is an AWESOME professor! The course consist of a total of 4 test and final exam. There is absolutely no homework or projects or reading chapters out of the book. Everything is off of the powerpoints. Attendance is taken and I would definitely attend class because of the stories he tells to better understand the material.

Dr. Burnside is an awesome teacher! He does pop quizzes but two out of like four were an easy 100 for being there. His tests are based on lecture. I didn't use the text book and looked over the notes the night before and made a B! The fourth test was a take home test. I hope I can get him again for biology II

Great professor. I took him for anatomy and physiology 1 and 2. He pretty funny and not too difficult. But he doesn't give study guides (at least for lecture) so you really want to study the entire power point handouts. But overall great professor!

Dr. Burnside is a very intelligent & HUMERUS ;) professor. He does not give out reviews so you have to make your own which I feel makes the information easier to retain. Pay attention in class because you may miss him hinting at something that maybe in an upcoming exam & also because he may try to embarrass you.

Wonderfull professor. Go to class and go to the extra credit 5k. Took during the summer and received an A. There are pop quizzes, some of which you get a 100 just for being there. 1 take home test, otherwise no homework. If you come to class and learn the material in the powerpoint you will at minimum pass but should get an A. Highly recommend!

Best Professor ever. However he is super hard on test - 4 test drop 1 (1 take home test), 1 final comprehensive exam, and lab- 3 practical test, all for your future. Extra credit 5k, pop quizzes... however, dont skip class!

Absolutely loves Dr. Burnside's A&P 1 class. He takes attendance and does attendance quizzes, so go to class. Doesn't give homework, or reviews for his test. His power points are online but he elaborates on those points. I took him over the summer so the material was condensed, but even then he clearly explained everything. Awesome professor!

Professor Burnside is my lab professor and he is outstanding! Definitely one of the BEST professor I have ever had. He makes lab fun and is willing to go above and beyond to help his students learn. His exams are very fair!! I would take any class he teaches! Lastly, it's A&P so you have to also be willing to work and study hard as well!!

I loved being part of Dr. Burnside's class, and I'm already registered with him for A&P II. He gives real life stories that help explain his lectures. Gives pop quizzes and attendance grades unexpectedly so I don't recommend you skip class and always make your own notes after lectures! It was extremely effective for me in exam grades.

Burnside is awesome! Pop quizzes once in a while but they help on the test. 5 tests including take-home exam, comprehensive final, and he drops your lowest quiz and test grade. Great professor. Knows his stuff and is the perfect man for the job. Uses pwerpoints and elaborates with examples and stories to help you understand! Does give extra credit and a lot of the pop quiz questions show up on the actual exams to make it easier for you. Here's a tip: Wear Cowboys gear on exam days and he will answer one question for yall!

Mr. Burnside is an overall great professor. He understood that we weren't biology majors so he just went over the basics. Tests are easy, just study the powerpoints that he posts on blackboard and write the notes that he writes on the board. I would take him again because he's cool and lets us leave class early sometimes which is a bonus.

TAKE NOTES! Even the stuff he puts on board because it WILL be in the test. Attendance is mandatory, beware of pop quizzes. There's no reviews for tests. Finals are comprehensive. This is a very tough subject no matter what professor you take, so be sure to pay attention to the personal stories he tells because it will tie in to the test somehow.

I was dreading taking biology & I actually didnt hate it too much. He understood that we arent science majors & made the tests super easy. If you go to class & pay attention, then it shouldnt be too difficult. He makes great analogies to help you understand the subject. The best A&P teacher I've had so far. A&P isn't easy but he explains everything really good. If you go to the S.I. sessions and read over the powerpoints, which he puts up online, and you should be good. Listen to everything he says and writes in class even his stories, it might be on tests. He drops your lowest quiz grade, and gives extra credit.

Burnside was a sight for sore eyes with A&P. Difficult subject but teaching style and humor was worth it. Gives extra credit you just have to run/walk a 5K (easy, right?). I recommend attending the SI sessions, they will guide to. The final is a collection of past exams questions, so when he hands the back analyse your mistakes.

Good professor! The class was hard because the material is hard and there is a lot to learn. To me, the hardest part of the class were the lab practicals, but I would still suggest taking him for lecture and lab. For the lecture tests, study his PowerPoint slides and for lab, just study, study, study!

I didn't know this was a nurse course nor that I needed to take Bio 1 & 2 before Which I took neither. Im just here for an associates taking this class was like taking spanish 2 before spanish 1, but if I was still able to pass without any prior knowledge that should tell you what kind of professor he is. 11/10 he was great and knows his stuff

Good professor took two classes from him, and would've taken a third had it worked out. Makes the lecture easy to follow along and does best to ensure that the students understand content before moving on. Pay attention to all things mentioned even if it seems unrelated it might show up as a test question. Pop quizzes are to be expected.

I necessarily would not take him again for lecture because he gets off topic very easily but if you can take him for lab TAKE HIM. He gives you mini tricks that many other AnP teachers don't give, he gives free time in lab so you can study.

Amazing! Lot of typical "dad jokes". Uses bunch of analogies for better understanding . Few pop quizzes. Just study the powerpoints and you will for sure pass. Didnt use book. Highly recommend taking him for AP 1 and 2. Only a few oppurtunities for extra credit. Not that many grades in gradebook so one small mishap could effect grade tremendously.

Dr. Burnside is such a gem! He's very dry humor but it helps lighten up Bio. Very willing to work with students outside of class and will take time to explain concepts thoroughly. He does put about 14% of grades in pop quizzes so stay with your reading and lectures. Listen closely, he usually tells you what to look for when studying for exams.

He really made me love biology again, he finds a way to put it in a storyline, everything you learn is a puzzle piece from him, and he fits into perfect sense. I loved the atmosphere in his class, he always made it comfortable and fun to learn.

I took this course in the summer and due to COVID 19, it was online. Although it was challenging and there were many technical difficulties throughout, Dr. B taught the class online to his best ability. When there was a mistake on his end, he was always fair and gave us extra points. His stories were always interesting and I learned A LOT!

Burnside is honestly an amazing teacher. We all went through many difficulties this sommer due to the pandemic but he made up for it. My course was originally supposed to be in person but was moved to online. Due to the COVID pandemic, the course seemed to be more rigorous due to limited communication by email etc. The lecture portion was fair, but pay attention to details that is mentioned. He tried to accommodate by opening office hours to questions about the materials covered.

I can say so much about Dr. B but not enough space. He is a great teacher but if your wanting things easy do not take him. He is getting you prepared for real world, critical thinking in the medical field mindset. He wants you to find the answers (you know, like how you would if you were a doctor). If I can do this class with 3 small kids you can!

Took the class online, but Im sure hed be even cooler in person. Made the material very easy to understand, connecting abstract topics to real life metaphors. If you follow the study advice he gives at the beginning of the semester, you will absolutely get the A.

Dr. B was an awesome professor that tells stories and goes on tangents - those tangents can be annoying BUT they help you remember what youre supposed to be learning. His stories will make you laugh and cry- I will always tear up at the thought of Pons. Study hard. Learn those pre-fixes and suffixes. Getting an A is not impossible.

I would 100% take this professor again. His lectures were sometimes either short (25 mins) or long (45 mins). Honestly they all had very good information. If you pay attention to the lectures and take notes how he suggest then you will not need the textbook.

Dr. B. is truly a gem. He understands that life happens outside of his course and gives everyone a fair shake. He is pretty funny which makes the difficulty of the course not so bad. His teaching style is practical and in a format easy to understand, but if you have questions, he does not make you feel small for asking them. He's awesome!

kinda weird being a bio professor but believing the covid vaccine isnt effective. other than that, hes awesome. super entertaining during class. tests are in class, multiple choice. no writing assignments. learn the current players of the dallas cowboys bc they will be throwaway test choices. look over your notes before a test and youll do great

Anatomy is difficult in general but he made it work. This is my 2nd time taking this course (1st w/ Vu (hard). "Pop-quizzes" but told the class in person when it was going to be so make sure to come to class. The questions on the quizzes will also be on the exam. He emphasizes on topics that's going to be on the exam. Exam based on slides.

His lectures are very easy to grasp and understand. He is always pretty clear about when tests and quizzes are happening if you actually pay attention in class. Pay attention and make flash cards before tests/quizzes and you will pass.

i absoutely love this professor. Dr. B is the man, im going to take him for any any every class that I need from this point on. he is so motivational and really made me fall in love with biology. Dr. B I love you man.

Dr. Burnside is the best A&P professor I have had. He continuously keeps his lectures interesting, and he makes sure that everyone is paying attention. His lecture style makes it easier to understand the content, and the side stories he tells go with what you're learning, so expect to see them on the exams, so come to class! Overall great guy!

Like how his lectures were strait forward and to the point and he would tell personal stories to go along with lessons. Over all grade not so good due to my poor scores in lab which I took with another professor.

Taking a summer class for A&P2 was insane, this professor knows his material and always finds a way to relate the subject his personal experiences, making it engaging. Always thorough with the material and very accessible of class, you'll know you're near his office if you smell pizza in the hallway!

I took Dr. Burnside for the summer and his class was challenging but fair, it is clear that if you put the effort in you will get rewarded accordingly. There is a lot to memorize but thats any anatomy class.

I took Dr. Burnside for Summer II A&P. It was my first time going back to school in 10 years and he made the class so much fun! You have to actually come to class and PAY ATTENTION! If he writes it on the board or tells a story about it - IT WILL BE ON THE TEST! 10/10 would take again. He inspired me to get back into school. Learning has occurred!

Dr. Burnside is an awesome instructor! Obviously, the class will be difficult, no matter what professor you take. It is a lot of material, and you really need to study in order to learn and grasp the material. Dr. Burnside tells you what is going to be on the test if you are actually paying attention. If you are lazy, this class isn't for you.

Dr B is quite the character. Also don't call him Mr B or he'll tell you "that's my dad. I'm Dr Burnside" and then he'll proceed to tell you the story of the day he received his Doctorate degree. Trust me, it happened to me. He makes the lesson as easy to digest as possible. He will definitely go off on tangents so note takers beware.

His class is so easy you just need to study. Everything on his tests are things that he has gone over. Don't listen to the reviews here most of them are from people that don't want to study and want it easy. Just go over his PowerPoints and you could get an A. One of the easiest profs at TCC. He is exceptionally well at explaining hard topics.

Dr. Burnside is great. Yes he does love to talk and get a little off topic, but he relates everything to the material you will be learning. Even the Cowboys! His exams are based off the power points. MARK an X on the ones he does not go over. Those will not be on his exams. He will hint when their will be a pop quiz so be ready. Good luck!

This is not an easy class, no matter who's teaching it. It's A&P! Show up to class, put in the work, study, and you will be fine. Dr. Burnside will hint what's on the test. Also, the stories he tells will pop up on the test. This is why you should show up to class. Record his lectures if you have a short attention span and LEARN THE MEDICAL TERMS.

Funny professor. His teaching is very concise, you just have to put in the work outside of class to study. He is willing to help and answer any questions. Take advantage of the classroom and science learning center!

Dr. Burnside is a great instructor. He's very lecture heavy but as long as you're paying attention in class, you'll be fine. I would highly recommend his class if you want a professor that tries his best to keep the class interesting and keep everybody engaged. oh, and pay attention to the quizzes because more often than not they'll end up on test.

HE IS A GREAT PROFESSOR! Would highly recommend for anatomy and physiology 1. He's easy going and just a pretty cool professor all the way around. He tends to get off topic just a little, but he makes the class go by pretty fast. The test is pretty fair. Make sure you write down which slides he is talking about. And he gives great study tips.

Really good professor, he would hint when pop quizzes were and also would give freebies on them as well as the final exam. Very little work outside of class.

Took him as a lecture professor for AP1 helped make it make sense for an already difficult class.

Honestly, he's not that bad! Just make sure you pay attention in lecture because the tests are exactly what he talks about in class, don't bother to read the PowerPoint or the book. He got an A in lecture and a C in the lab.

his classes are easy, try taking notes and note down every important thing, his exams are pretty easy. he gives hints about what can be asked in the exam as well.

Took Dr Burnside for his summer A&P 2 class which was very fast paced, however he made everything very easy to understand and digest. There is a lot of material to be covered but he tells you exactly what will be on the exam. Uses quiz questions on exams which helps your grade. Rambles a lot during lecture but some of his nonsense will be on exam!

He was actually a good teacher! so the slides given are the same slides all the TCC professors have so he just talks about what is important to his exam. He does talk about his life a lot, but those stories will some how be tied into the exams so pay attention! He is a very sweet man.

Professor Burnside is the real deal. Anatomy is tough, but his lectures and guidance make all the difference. Definitely do the readings, attend class, and use tools like Unstuck study to stay on top of the content. Worth taking again.

He is a great professor. He made me understand anatomy and applies it to the real world. He does talk about his personal life but it always ties with lecture and those stories are tied to his exams so attendance is important. He does have pop quizzes and the questions show up for the exam. overall I do recommend ( he didn't do lab only lecture)

Loved him. He styles himself as a comedian somewhat and tells lots of anecdotes but they always tie into lecture and you will remember it! Attendance is important because he lectures to his exam specifically. There are “pop quizzes” but they were always 2 days before the test, I think to help you prepare and see where you stand on material. 10/10

Because of my program I had to take the summer course of BIO 2 and I am so glad I did. I will say, you need to make sure you put in effort, but when you do, Dr. B sees it and meets you where you are. I can honestly say that I have never had a better science professor in my college career.

Dr. Burnside is the best professor to take your A&P class. He makes the lectures so easy and simple to understand. You need to be very attentive in class. Every story and joke he makes comes with a question. Also, make sure you take notes of everything he writes on the whiteboard.

I absolutely loved Dr. burnside, I wish I could take him again for A&P 2. I say class is mandatory due to the fact he likes pop quizzes and when he repeats the same thing over and over in his lectures it's bc it will be a test question. He's passionate about science which makes learning what he's teaching all the better. Do your work & you'll pass.

Professor Burnside is really great. He sometimes wanders off during lectures by discussing abstract topics, but if you listen carefully, read his slides, and write down everything he puts on the board, you will definitely pass the exams! Take him if you can!

He includes his stories of biology on his quizzes sometimes, so pay attention to anything extra he does in class. He truly wants the best for every one of his students, it's a difficult class and will take a lot of your time up, he understands the struggles and tries to put things into its simplest forms for you to understand. (dont miss any class)

Take good notes of his lectures, especially the ones he wrote on the board. Good prof, yap a lot. Pop quizzes are 1 to 2 classes away from the test date, very predictable. Tests are kind of difficult if you didn't pay attention during class. The final exam is very easy, mostly common-sense questions and questions from previous quizzes and exams.
