His class is very well structured. The only teacher I've ever had who types up handouts for each section. But he's not a very good lecturer and often the class ends before he can finish the lesson.
This guy is the shiznits, although he is not the best math teacher that I've ever had, but he tried real hard, so rezzpekh for Chamberlin's powa
Not a very hard class, and a lot of work is put into the handouts which are definitely a nice thing to have. Many examples are done in class which helps for understanding. However, he seems to have a bit of Napoleon Syndrome
I don't know what these other people are talking about but I am not very impressed with Craig's teaching skills. He covers material extremly fast and never has time for questions. The only good thing is that he is well structured.

I think Chamberlin was a good teacher even though he goes really fast through sections. But he makes sure that you understand what he's doing. The tests aren't to bad if you know what you are doing. But overall he's not a bad teacher to have.
I liked Professor Chamberlin, a professor who is actually prepared for lessons, and goes beyond being a clear and structured lecturer by taking the time to print out notes for you to follow along in class, makes it easier to listen to what he is saying.
Overall Craig is a very good teacher, and while he may go over the material at somewhat a rapid pace, he always states that he is available after class to help. His class is very structured and gives lots of homework, so be prepared to invest your time.
This is a very nice teacher! He explains things pretty well and clearly.
He's kinda nerdy at first...But he is a GREAT teacher
He doesn't know how to teach, a class only himself. His Handouts are ok, soemtimes helpful. I would just use the book. Goes over things TOO FAST! and Never fully answers questions. He answers in a Rude maner too.
He's a good professor. He wants you to learn thats the best part. He really wants you to do well in the class.
He makes lots of bad jokes in class and outta nowhere would get mad at students for trivial things, but he's good at teaching his subject for the most part. Kinda weird, outta nowhere he'd start talking about Futurama.
He seems to care. He is a great teacher. I would recommed him to anyone. However, don't take him in the summer. He goes really fast.
He integrates Maple labs(used in universities) in calculus class. He moves fast, tries to cover all materials for the class, while other teachers spent most time on the first few chapters and leaves the last third of the book to the students.
He isnt very easy. He is a stickler on writing explanations for your answers, more so then the actual answer. Not a teacher i'd recommend.
He moved pretty quickly, puts you on the spot a bit and if you give the wrong answer he kinda treats you like you're stupid...he was really picky about written answers on the test too. Don't reccomend him.
bad teacher
VERY STRICT ... NOT VERY HELPFUL ...THINKS HE TEACHES AT A UNIVERSITY ... EXPECTS TOO MUCH ... DON'T TAKE HIM !!!
Really nice. Wants all students to exceed. Attendance is a must to pass. But overall awsome. Take him. I hate Math so much but he made it enjoyable
Very strict on attendance and punctuality. Takes up too much class time with those.
Class was really difficult. I recommend you take the class only if you are willing to go to every single class period. The tests are difficult and you have to make sure and do every little thing he asks. I got A's on all the tests but I got a B in the class.
(--;)
he's strict about showing up late/missing class. his tests are fairly hard, but pretty fair. he's very available to answer any questions you may have. he's personable, has a sense of humor. so long as you're willing to put the effort into the class, he's a great teacher. not easy, but *great*.
Craig's constant miscalculations as well as his lack of charisma resulted in continual class-wide debilitating catatonia.
He knows his stuff. Level of difficulty depends on how fast you pick up stuff and your attendance. I screwed up and got a D on one test, but still mustered out a B+ at the end. He's not impossible, but attending lecture is important and required. Do not talk during class or show up late, you will be on his evil list for life. Kinda nerdy.
If you attend class and do your homework you will pass. He's kinda nerdy but its entertaining.Fairly easy grader and curved tests so that the average score passed.Don't bother taking him if you don't plan on coming to class everytime, and being late isn't acceptable!
If you go in with a "I'm still in high school. Go seniors!" mentality then of course you're going to hate him. He is thorough in details & explanations, going to his office hours is helpful. If you're always irresponsible, late, and disrespectful, don't blame him for your own lack of judgement. He isn't here to pat you on the back & give candies.
Don't take this teacher. He is the worst math teacher ever. He is not flexible at all. He doesn't explain many things that you have to know and that is very bad of a teacher who teaches in Pallomar college
Though I like the way he takes attendances, but I am totally against him! He always likes to make Math harder than it already is. What I mean is he makes grades hard to earn. Also, he claims that he gets easier every semester, but by looking at the results, I would call that B.S.! Thats why I got a C for working hard? He gets mad when u question.
This is college so you should take it seriously and show up to every class. He tries really had to make the class good and cares about his students. These are the reasons why I took him for MATH 120, 200, and 205.
Chamberlin is great. You do have to show up, and get there on time, but this is college, remember? As long as you take notes and do your homework you will succeed. Teacher is very clear and always offers extra help during office hours.
DOn't take him, his class will lower your GPA if you are not good at Math. I worked hard but he gave me a C.
He goes pretty slow through each section and helps you when you ask. Overall, not a bad teacher, but it's math, so you have to study for every test.
It's funny--many students say "I GOT an A or B", but "The PROFESSOR gave me a C or D." I think Craig is good.

His lectures were lame. His jokes are dry. I hated every minute of his class. I love math endlessly, but this guy made me have second thoughts. His point scale for exams are not out of 100 points, anywhere from 80-90 points; meaning if you miss something small on your test it counts huge against your final score.
Very clear lectures, easy to folow and teaches in a way that makes since. He doesnt drop a test like most teachers though, so you have to be carefull on every one. The best Math teacher I've had at Palomar. I would recomend him.
Excellent teacher all around so long as you show up and pay attention.
HE DOES NOT FINISH MOST OF EXAMPLES IN CLASS. HE COLLECTS HOMEWORK ALMOST EVEY TIME. EXAMS ARE OUT OF 60 POINTS WHICH HURTS STUDENTS ALOT.
One of the better math teachers I've had. Explains things clearly with examples like they will be in the homework and on the test. He really like math so get ready for lame jokes. If you can sit through the class you can pass it no problem.
tuff but fair and comprehensive
Chamberlin is a great teacher. You will work hard in this class. He explains everything that you will be learning. He lectures at a good pace and is helpful for questions you have. He is also funny and easy to get along with. I recommend using math lab and completing all homework. take this class.
If you aren't already proficient in Trigonometry don't take his class. I worked very hard in his class and only pulled out a C. He gives NO room for error. No extra credit, no make up tests, nothing. He will give a marginal curve if the WHOLE class doesn't do well on a test. Tests are not reflective of the class/homework.
he's an awesome teacher
Fast paced class. Homework will quickly accumulate if you don't keep up. Collects homework every day to enforce attendance. Does not drop or curve tests. Reviews always lacked content. Killer cumulative final. You will have to work hard for a C.
Good Class. The lectures were well organized, and the tests were reasonable as long as you study.
he doesn't give any leisure. he wont let you turn homework in early or even 3 minutes late, you have to get to class before he does in order to turn it in. doesn't explain real well either.
i dont think it is that hard of a class. tells LAME jokes. reasonable amounts of hw.
Great professor. Very easy to understand, makes the formulas seem easy and explains things in great depth. Takes a boring class and does his best to make it seem more interesting.
He is an awesome professor! Lectures with clarity and is always there if you need help. I recommend this teacher to everyone. The secret is to do your hw and study, because his tests come directly from the hw.
He is a really cool teacher. I try to have him as my math teacher in every math class.
Take him! His lectures are crystal clear and if you miss something, he'll stay after class and explain. Do your homework; it's part of your grade and the test material. He's easy on the eyes and . . . nice arms!
This guy's really cool, he explains things that you need to know. he's funny, is easy-going, and is clear in his examples. If you are a slacker, then don't take his class, you have to listen in his class, and do the homework, if you do, it's easy to do the tests and get good grades.
I advise anyone that is going to take 205, choose another prof. Loads of mandatory homework worth only 10 pts, he gives you all the homework + answers on his website. 90% of answers are just the answer, no complete solution. Calls his answer guide "beta" version, since there are mistakes. Only 3 tests. I've never seen a prof write as fast as him.
You will NEVER have a better Calc 3 teacher than this guy at any college you go to. He doesn't sit around and do proofs all lecture like most University profs (who usually have thick accents), but actually does problems. (He also does prove most of the theorems btw) HWs not bad for Calc 3, and his tests are based on hw probs or examples from class.
Pretty good teacher. Pretty fair and linient. He really does know how to teach. Short tests and really easy if you study them
For math 110: don't waste your time at Palomar! Go to Mira Costa and take Mark Laurel (math 125 = college algebra). Go!
he is an amazing teacher who tries very hard at what he does and attempts to make class intriguing with nerdy humor. he's a nice guy. but calc 2 is HARD itself so be careful & keep up with the hw. one of the best as far as math goes
This guy is great! Makes calc2 very easy to understand, super clear lectures. Tests are just like the HW and class examples. he just need to do more proves like Lowenkorn.
Fun class, he jokes around with the students a lot. If you do the HW you should get an A, the best calc III teacher ever.
This is one of the best teachers I've ever had. His tests throw no curveballs and are very straightforward. And he also explains how to do problems, but more importantly he teaches you why, which was big for me. He always tries to lighten the mood with his brand of corny humor. overall great guy.
This teacher has hard tests and dont try to argue with him because he come right back at you like he knows everything! Ive attending every class but one and ended up with a D and the sad part is i did all my homework too!
Although MAth 115 is a difficult class, (Attendance and homework are absolutely required to just pass) he does the most a teacher can do to teach the material, (a lot of it is memorizing equations)A very clear, and pretty helpful teacher. Grades fair and helpful. Would/will take another math class with him in the future.
This guy is a great math teacher! Took his 50 min class and got an A! U MUST GO TO CLASS! Take excellent notes. HW every night and he collects it the following day. DO IT THOUGH! Some of the questions on the test are off the HW and NOTES especially the word problems! Graphing calculator is a must, he says you dont need one but you really do!!
He is AMAZING. BEST teacher ever. He will explain something 50 times until you get it. It is obvious he cares deeply for his students and wants all of them to succeed. His tests are just like the hw and notes so study those. He also gives 5-10 extra credit points on every test. His final was easy and so were all of the tests. He is also super nice.
Craig is a g. He makes sure everyone understands the material. His tests are straight forward, most of the questions are from the homework. Expect 3-5 hours of homework a week. Tests keep getting easier, final wasn't bad at all. He loves mario kart on wii and jack handy quotes.
Chamberlin is the BEST teacher ever!! He is an excellent instructor because he knows the material very well and loves math. He has really nice personality and he's helpful w students, gives you extra credit opportunity, no quizzes other than for EC and regular tests. He assigns eoo hmwk problems and he makes math easy to learn. Pay attention, do al
He's probably one of the best math professor's i've ever had. I found his test questions to be rather confusing though, he will tell you to study HW or previous test questions to prepare but he doesn't use those problems. DO THE HOMEWORK ALL OF IT! he picks random sections to collect.
Great teacher. Explains things thoroughly, and will not rush in order to cover/complete a section. Tests are easy if you study and do all your homework (duh!). I would take any math class with this guy as he makes sure you understand. FYI: he loves to collect homework.
I love Chamberlin! The best math teacher at Palomar!
Great teacher. His tests and homework loads were completely reasonable. Do you homework, study what he tells you to study, and ask questions. If you do all of this, you should be perfect.
Simply the best. One of the greatest qualities of Chamberlin as a teacher, is his clarity. His pedagogy in approaching mathematical concepts is fluid and crystal clear. He even draws parallels with math concepts and life lessons that simply enrich your class experience. Do the homework, study those problems, and you'll excel on the exams.
Very condescing to you if you have trouble undersanding the material. High emphasis on homework, which he bases the tests on, but his tests are incredibly hard. He says he's available to help but he isn't really. This class sucked. Take Frazee instead if she's teaching it.
Chamberlin is very organized and very helpful. He spent hours helping students with their homework after class. Two days before the final, he met with us on his own time and spent 2 hours answering questions. His online videos are also a great help. Tests were based mostly on the homework. He's not easy, but he will help you learn.
Awesome teacher. As long as you do the homework, his class is easy.
This teacher is awesome. Some of the lectures was like he knew exacly how to teach it so that EVERYBODY could understand it. FOr the test...Study the medium hardnes hw problems and you will do good. Great class.
He is VERY FAIR. His homework is basically a study guide for his tests. If you know how to do every hw problem ( which he customizes which is nice) then you should have no problem passing. Reccommend him to anyone taking Calc 3!
DO THE HW FOR THE LESSON BEFORE HE GOES OVER.JUS TGIVES EXAMPLES. I YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOURE DOING IT WILL BE HARD TO FOLLOW HIS "NOTES" JUST DOES EXAMPLES.FOUND MYSELF HAVING TO TAKE NOTES BUT THEN WHEN I READ THE BOOK IT WAS MUCH EASIER THAN HIS NOTES
Great teacher & super nice guy. He is very clear with how he presents the material and will always stay after class to clarify any confusion. He does everything he can to get his students to learn the material and pass the class, but you still need to do your part. Class starts out difficult & gets easier as the semester progresses. Stick with it!
Professor Chamberlin's lectures were very clear and helpful and he is an easygoing professor-easy to ask questions in this class! His tests were not surprising as long as you study the material he tells you to study (can print out a study guide). I would definently take him again-the class was straightforward and he is a great professor!
He's very all over the place, only teaches examples and steps, if you don't do hw you fail, tests are hard and usually don't coincide with what he showed the class. spring semester he was very unhelpful would just send you to math lab. probably won't take him again unless forced to. He is a genuinely nice person didn't like how he taught this class
SUPER nice guy, terrible prof. DO HMWK or you fail. I loved math before this prof, can't stand it now. Only teaches you examples and doesn't give variety so you're lost on examples. AVOID.
Really excellent professor. Calc3 is not an easy subject, but he spends lots of time going over homework, reviewing math we've forgotten, and has GREAT test prep. He will do everything he can to help you. Lectures are long but he's very funny and kind. Take him if you can. Show up, do all the work (twice if you have to). It's hard, but that's math.
Excellent Professor. He spends the beginning of class going over homework and is always willing to answer your questions. He provides great test prep and always wants you to succeed. Easy A. Highly recommend.
He's a good math professor and wants to help the students succeed.
Hands down, the best Math teacher I have had at Palomar. A professor who genuinely cares about the success of his students, Chamberlin would routinely stay well past the end of class to help anybody (sometimes until 10pm). The class was challenging, but I could not recommend a better teacher for this course.
Hes a really nice guy a prof. I would take a class with him again if I had to.
He's really nice and helpful. Thought this class was easy and passed with an A. Do the homework, it's not that bad. He uses MyMathLab for homework - it's really helpful if you skipped class and don't understand what's going on.
Best math teacher I've had! Super nice guy, explains math with simplicity. has made math enjoyable!! If you hate math like me, take this guy!
Was very fast, our Trig class was 2 weeks ahead of any other trig class. Very clear in lectures. Writes tests with the intention of tricking you into the wrong answer (Mult ch w/ 10 answers w/ the intention to get you to get it wrong). When I went to office hours, it was like I was wasting his time and he was rude for wanting 2 learn the material
Best teacher I've had at Palomar. His lectures are clear and organized, and he is very approachable. But the class is not easy. You have to do the homework and go to class consistently to have a chance of passing.
Good teacher As far as Calculus II goes he makes it as easy as he can without ditching the proper curriculum. He offers extra credit where he sees fit tests only. Tests are very similar to homework and in-class examples. Physical homework collection is random so stay on top of it along with online homework. Get the e-book package.
Good, funny, friendly, fair. What more can u ask for?
He is a good professor, he gives way too much homework that is only worth 10% of the grade. For tests, there is no study guide, he gives practice test but that is only a little review; so you actually need to study all the homework problems, the notes, and memorize too many formulas.
Great professor but not a push-over. You have to follow his test preparation suggetions to do well on exams. Also do the homework because the tests look a lot like the homework.
It's a pretty dry subject but his jokes (although very cheesy) make things a little better. A lot of hw for it just to be worth 10% of your grade. Tests look a lot like the practice tests he gives. He sometimes goes on tangents and makes explanations more confusing than need be. I def had to use khan academy otherwise I would have failed.
Good teacher. Not easy but good.
Craig Chamberlin was an awesome professor! I took him my first semester and really enjoyed the class. He covers a lot of material but it is easy to follow and if you have any trouble he is super helpful. I got a D on the first test and steadily climbed to an A. I would definitely take him again.
He does not teach well, moves too fast, and only goes over examples with you, doesn't let you try them on your own. You better be good at self teaching based off homework. His test questions are made to trick you.
Boring class but a good professor. Presents the info in a clear, concise way. Tests are reasonable. Lots of homework.
I took this guy because he was my only option for the time I needed. He goes at such a rapid pace. It's a class where he is there to lecture, and feed examples to notes. He May be better for the people who have a strong math foundation. The tests are incredibly complex compared to the examples show in class. Tests are 90% of your overall grade.
He really explains things well. The tests look just like the examples from class and he let's us get some extra credit based on test corrections. Good test prep.
Whelp I just failed this class and I feel really bad about it. Not because it was super easy but because this teacher put so much work into providing ways to learn the material. He puts so extra effort into explaining stuff to students it makes me feel bad that I didn't take full advantage of his extra videos and problems. Dont make my mistake!
Professor Chamberlin is probably the coolest math professor I've taken here at Palomar. He's really nice and knows what he's doing unlike other professors. His tests can be pretty difficult at sometimes, but he gives you extra credit quizzes to bump up your test scores. Class can be a bit boring at sometimes, but what do you expect its math.
Chamberlin was very thorough and explained everything in depth but it isn't easy. Overall, you need to go to class and keep up with the homework. There is a lot of homework but it is not worth much of your grade it is just assigned so you understand the material. Tests are tough because they are few questions on a lot of material.
Really good teacher. makes math easy and explains everything you need to know for homework and test. Do homework on mymathlab which is very helpful . test are pretty easy based strictly off of homework. you have to attend class to pass. although teacher is kindof corny he is a really good math teacher and prepares everyone to pass the class.
I always struggled with math. I took him for Calc 2. I was surprised by how easy his class was. Seriously, if you can't pass his class you need to be incredibly lazy. He provides notes and vides online, homework has video answers, he provides study guides and practice tests, and he only chooses the easy questions on tests. He's a great teacher.
Calculus isn't an easy class. Chamberlin is a great teacher and really ensures that his students are properly prepared for their educational goals, while still being fair. Also, he's really personable so that makes lecture much easier. Tests are very similar to practice tests and in class example, while not an easy A, he does give partial credit
Calc 2 is really hard but Chamberlin makes it passable. It is by no means an easy A but he gives extra credit opportunities and makes the tests extremely reasonable. He tests based off what we have covered in class and throws no curve balls. You definitely have to study just like any other math class but if you study how he says to you'll do well
I wouldn't take him unless you have a lot of hours to spend on homework. Very specific grader as well. Overall wouldn't recommend.
Unfortunately, this was one of the worse professors I've ever had. He's a genuinely nice guy, but doesn't explain things clearly, sometimes over explains to point of confusion. More interested in recording himself than making sure the class understands. Online hw system is horrible, questions WAY harder than examples in class. Test are rather hard.
Worst Professor ever. What he explains in class, the homework and the test are all different. Do not take his class unless you want to fail. His study guides are not helpful at all and when you ask him questions, he does not give you clear answers. All his homework is online and when you try to ask for help the next class, he get irritated.
Good class. He posted several YouTube lecture videos to give more time in class to ask homework questions and do problems. He gave us great test preparation including sample problems that looked just like some of the problems on the test. Also he gave us a chance for extra credit. Highly recommend.
Craig Chamberlin is a great professor. He makes sure to tell you how to study to pass the class. He has the class watch some of the lectures at home on Youtube to free up time for homework questions and study tips. I definitely recommend him.
First of all, when he lectures he goes so deep to a point which gets confusing. Homework is online and you have to spend hours on it. Homework/quiz's are only 10 percent of your overall grade. His "test Preps" are not helpful and this is all true. Tests are your overall grades and he records lectures while lecturing feels like an online class.
- Passionate about Mathematics, does not follow the order of the textbook in order to present the material more cohesively. - Lots of great lecture material. Great for studying. - Tests 90% of grade, homework 10%. Use homework as a study aide more than a grade saver. - I was terrified of this class, but the Prof. made it bearable. Thanks!
when he lectures he talks too fast, it feels like he is disconnected from the class. He walks in class, connects his laptop and starts lecturing. really cant go and talk to him because he seems to get upset. Attendance isn't important for him and working so hard in the class he only cares for the test grades. Don't recommend him take anyone else.
Chamberlin is great at explaining hard mathy stuff. The online homework has videos with almost every problem. His YouTube videos are also very helpful. Great prof.
Wants everybody to do well and will answer any questions. Tries to make everything as understandable as possible. Homework is done almost completely online with a few exceptions. Not too many tests or quizzes. Some lectures you have to watch on your own time to make room for homework questions, but the online lectures are only 30 min.-1 hour long.
Mr. Chamberlin is a great teacher. However, once I tried Mr. Chamberlin, it was like he wrote a Dummies guide to Precalc. He explained things so much easier, and it was alot more fun too. However, I do not like how you cannot see your grade, even if you ask. It's very frustrating, just keep track of your own assignments. Overall, I reccomend him.
His lectures will put you to sleep and half the time can't make sense of them himself. Also, he did do group work at the beginning of class but stopped once a student made a complaint which is really aggravating since group work does help some students. ALSO, doesn't really make time for questions if he is in a rush. Beware.
Nice guy but unfortunately not a good instructor. Attendance is mandatory. Needs to be said twice. No extra credit at all. NONE. He's bad at time management. Lectures seem more like online class than actual class. Cheesy joke every now and then but doesn't make class more bearable. Should be teaching high school. (Can use your phones in class.)
He is a great professor. Clear, organized lectures along with his own videos of math how-to videos. Great test prep too and he does offer some extra credit, which you won't need if you study what he asks you to.
Tests are worth 65% of your grade and he does not post grades. Be aware of your test grade through the semester if you want an A. I absolutely loved his class. I love how he teaches and he gives SO much extra help through his videos, pre-tests, and practice problems. He genuinely wants the class to do well. If you take his class, put in the effort.
Very clear and helpful lectures. Do the hw and you will do good on the exams. exams are exactly like the homework problems. nice guy.
professor chamberlain is a great professor his tests follow the study guide and he wants you to pass
I LOVED Professor Chamberlin! Awesome, clear, CLEAN professor who cares about his students. Wish I could have him for every math class. Makes concepts easy to understand. Homework load is reasonable. Tests are easy if you study. Above all, just a fantastic guy to be around, doesn't cuss, very friendly and approachable, and wants you to succeed.
Tests are exactly like the homework, often the same problems. 90% of the grade is tests but He is always willing to help and a very nice guy. Understand the homework and you will do very well. No textbook required everything is on his website which is very easy to use.
Math 205 is hard, so don't expect it to be easy. Professor Chamberlin makes this class as easy as it can possibly get. He cares about your understanding and he actually tests your understanding on final exam, so try to prepare yourself during the semester.
Very easy to go to for help. So much material is posted to help you study, videos, lecture notes ect. Would definitely take again.
Chamberlin is a really good teacher. He posts helpful how-to videos, and he goes over lots of examples that look just like the homework. Nice guy.
Overall hes a nice guy with a good sense of humor. If you take 135, be prepared to review the homework and study guides. The tests werent easy by any means, but if you take his advice and review the homework and lectures then you should be fine. Make sure you go to class unless youre a math genius.
Craig is honestly a gem. However is class is very difficult. 10/10 dad goals would take again.
Well, he is a nice guy but what i didn't like is that he teaches TOO FAST and RUSH every section in math, also gives too much homework! And i honestly hate that when we begin in class, he will say negative things like if the math class is too difficult then the class is not for you etc, He repeats it over and over and gets really annoying -.-
Do not take this class unless you have all the time in the world to do homework and study. He rushes all of his lectures which are only doing examples instead of thoroughly explaining the section. He assigns so much homework and it is very hard to keep up with. Nice guy, but would not recommend taking him unless you're a genius in math.
I took Mr. Chamberlin for a summer semester. It was a 16 week course taught in 6 weeks. Although tough, Mr. Chamberlin did a fantastic job at making sure we understood the information. The way he structures his class is very effective. If you show up, participate, and do the HW you will get a good grade.
I am horrible at math and I have struggled for so long to actually understand the process. If you need a different/better explanation than what you've received in the past I really do recommend this teacher his lectures and explanations are really great at helping you understand. Its a moderate amount of homework and the tests are not too bad
Best teacher I've had at Palomar. He really cares for his students and wants them to do well. However, it is math so you do have to focus and practice in order to do well. He gives extra credit quizzes as well. Show up and do the homework and you should get a good grade.
I am a sophomore in college and I have not taken math since my junior year of hs. The material was really challenging and I did decide to drop this class, but he is a good prof and explains things really well. Math is math so you need to be prepared and dedicate a lot of time to this class. Study and pay attention, ask for help and you will do fine
Passionate about math, but not a good communicator. He posts his lecture notes on-line; great, but they do not explain the concepts that are needed to understand the material. I wish he left room for for discussion in class. He grades very harshly without much feed back. I plan to retake this class from someone else; its too important!!
Let me tell you now, if you don't have hours to spend on hw and studying this class will be too much; it should be balanced with a lighter course load. He is an average professor, wouldn't take this class again.
Chamberlin explains math really well and cares about his students. Tests are reasonable if you study. It is a 5 unit class so expect a lot of work.
I dropped this class after 2 weeks. All the work was done on a portal through Pearson. He had an in person orientation and gave off an arrogant vibe which made it uncomfortable because I'm not the best at math. Lots of work and the tests/quizzes are weighted heavily. He communicates frequently. He wants you to forget what you learned elsewhere.
Good online class. Easy if you watch the videos and do the homework that goes with them. Tests are mostly based on the homework.
His lectures were short and to the point, ideal for me because math is my strong point and I prefer to apply what I learn right away. His lectures are posted online, so you can review them as many times as needed, along with his notes. Get to know him, he is entertaining, happy to answer questions and provides feedback on tests and quizzes.
He's a good teacher, he explains things well and he puts his videos on youtube which is great because you can go back and view them. There's a lot of homework on mymathlab that takes up some time. His tests tend to be on the shorter side, maybe 10-12 questions at most so it's very easy to get a low grade. Study and review and you'll be fine.
Good online class. Follow directions and you do well.
If you know algebra-take this class. If you want to learn algebra-do not take this class. It is up to the student to teach themselves in Craig's class. I cannot believe this man is the chair of the math department. The mean in our total class tests was always a D. How is that teaching?
I like this class. No class meetings. Work at your own speed. Lectures in homework online. The class isn't for everyone, especially if you don't do homework
Class had no live meetings, was well organized, and was more or less self-paced. Good fit for me. Not too hard as long as you watch the lecture videos and do the homework.
He's a nice professor but a very tough grader. His methods aren't that good. He isn't explanatory enough for steps you need to understand. I flunked his class because of his terrible methods. I recommend you take someone else. If you want more specific steps and methods. Overall, I would not retake Chamberlin again from flunking his class.
He is really good at explaining trig. The subject is not easy but Chamberlin made it doable. He is nice and tells cheesy dad jokes.
Funny and fair. His videos are a lifesaver when you miss class.
This was my first college math course and I'm glad that I was able to be taught by Mr. Chamberlin. He cares about his students by always being accessible outside of class and just tries to make math fun. He does assign homework nearly after every lesson but it's good practice. His tests can be hard- but he's always happy to help. Attendance matters
Math is hard. He made it less intimidating. Tests are heavily weighted, so be aware of that from the beginning. Gives some extra credit but you have to work for it. Homework is manageable and has online videos to help when you get stuck. If you study and practice, you'll do well in his class. Best time to ask him questions is office hours.
Good professor but requires you to do a lot on your own time. If you skip class, there's a lot he says in class that isn't in his notes, including a lot of necessary announcements he doesn't post. Class isn't bad if it wasn't so test-heavy. Slip up once and your grade is toast. Says hw is based on effort but grades on correctness.
His lectures were clear and easy to follow. There is a homework due every week on a website you have to pay for, but it's only around 10 quick problems and the website's help videos are a good resource. He posts study guides and uses the problems from it and the homework on the exams. The exams are short and he offers e.c. quizzes after every exam.
Professor Chamberlin makes math fun with his cheesy dad jokes. The homework on the paid website is quick but helpful, and Unstuck ai is a great study tool alongside the free textbook.
He is cool, relatable, and charasmatic. The math is easy but it's clouded by the large amount of terminology/proofs/theorems and he could have taken more time to explain certain topics to make better connections about what things mean and their importance. He knows what he wants to see on tests and is a tough grader, but he gives good feedback.
Very kind and accessible professor, wants his students to succeed. I had him for Linear Algebra and it was his first time teaching it in a while so that class was a bit disorganized and the concepts hard to grasp. However his homework and tests are very reasonable. Highly recommend 3Blue1Brown videos to actually learn the content.
Took him for 115 and 200—amazing teacher. His fill-in-the-blank notes and course structure are god tier, especially for linear algebra. Study and you'll do great. Office hours help a lot. For 200, everything builds on from the first test so understand what span, subspace, etc are n you're golden. Do the practice tests and pay attention! -k
