yeah the guy can be sarcastic but the class is so freakin easy!!!
He is so freakin funny. He can be kinda an a** sometimes but he is a good teacher.
This guy has got to be the best professor on campus. He is funny and is just a great teacher. As long as you take notes and participate the class is pretty easy.
essay-essay-essay everthings essay. he is alert, likes to debate questions on test, he gives a point for some incorrect answers and an extra extra point for the correct answer.
Prof Ferguson is the BEST! Everyone should take at least one class from this guy. He encourages thought-provoking class discussion about what really matters. You actually have to think in this class and you will walk away the better for it. Great wardrobe
His class lectures are interesting for those into controversial topics as well as people who love to debate. He can be too demanding at times on his Short Answer Tests in the blue book. It seems as if he skims and scans your paper for keywords & phrases
This class was awesome. All you have to do is review your notes for the tests and have basic writing skills. This man is hilarious, totally liberal. The most I have ever gotten out of a history class.
I agree, this course and instructor are awesome! He is totally hilarious, and I too have gotten more from his course than any other history class that I have ever taken.
to hard , you do what he says you fail
Not a very nice guy
an extremely nice guy
Prof. Ferguson is great! Although his tests are somewhat hard, he is often reasonably fair about a lot of the quizzes/exams. I have learned quite a bit from his class. If you remain attentive and write effective notes, you are sure to get an A or a B. He's liberal, funny, and encourages thought.
Professor Ferguson is an outstanding teacher. The class discussions are a great source of controversy and debate. The test material is mostly class discussion. You should really be organized in order to succeed in his class. I learned so much from this class
Prof. Ferguson's classes are easy if you know history, if not they could be a challenge. He knows the subject well and it was enjoyable to challenge his opinion at times, which he encourages you to do. He can be a little too politically correct (establishment) at times. Still, highly recommended.
Awesome teacher!!!! He's funny and makes you prove your point. This course requires you to work hard, you must study your notes, and don't slack off. I would definetly reccoment this teacher for any subject.
this teacher is very unclear, tests are all essay and he talks off subject. mind reading is required to pass this class w/an A
Mr. Fergusons class was awsome. He gives credit for answers even ifthey are wrong. All you have to do is argue a valid point. If no one in the class can agree on an answer, he'll throw it out.
Very hard. He is not clear what you are suppose to actaully learn. He gets way off subject, test are very hard. Do not take him!
Take good notes, and as long as you're not dumb as a rock you should pass.
The material for this class is hard, but he makes it really fun and interesting. The tests can be hard, but if you go to class, take notes and study before them you will do fine. He does go off topic a lot, but he never puts material on the tests that he doesn't cover.
He is an excellent lecturer. Makes the boring stuff interesting. Hard to make an A. Essay tests. Take LOTS of notes. You will need them for the final essay.
Hes really good at lecturing, you should DEFINATLY take notes! Interesting laid back lecture, gives quizes every week over 2 chaps out of the book, you can argue the question and have it thrown out, essay tests: YOU DEFINATLY NEED TO WRITE A LOT OR YOU WILL FAIL! DOESNT CARE ABOUT GRAMMAR! Great guy all together!
Great lecture, very synicle, is very good at hiding his opinnions, the tests are based on the lectures, and the quizes are eazy if you read or at least half-ass read the chapters, Debating the awnser will usualy get it thrown out on the quizes. Take home final is kool except its 10-15pages. Realy Awusome Professor
Great professor. Really intresting class. Hard tests, if you study you will do great. Take great notes, and listen in class and you will do just fine. Really funny intresting professor!
Mr. Ferguson is the best history teacher I have ever had. I took him during intersession because I hate history and wanted to get it over with quickly. He made the class interesting, fun, and I truly learned a lot. He has a odd personality, but the way he teaches the information makes it impossible to forget!!
great teacher really makes you think and makes it intreresting and he's very funny.
Excellent teacher! His class is very interesting despite it being history. He teaches it in such a different way than any history class I have had before. Trust me. You have to have it, so take HIS history class.
Makes class pretty interesting
He makes class very interesting. He has an interesting sense of humor. He is pretty funny though! He gives a lot of notes. Great teacher, and the notes are very helpful. If you show up to class you should do well. Does not use the textbook as much. I had him for January Intersession, so he may do class a little different during the semester.
not a good teacher. this class was very hard
Prof. Ferguson may lead you on to believe he is just another Neo-Marxist preaching the evils of capitalism, but don't be fooled! This is just his way of testing the waters and keeping his students on the edge of their seats. He is truly fair and balanced in his teachings after he expands your mind a little. Good prof.!
Funny guy. Very nice and approachable. Comes across like Saul Rubinek impersonating George Carlin. Quizzes are frequent and easy. Tests are infrequent and entirely essay. You will learn in his class. I found myself wishing he taught more subjects.
This man is your typical anti-establishment multiculturalist. Nothing he says is original, and everything he claims to stand for is based on everyday political correctness and "tolerance." I swear, it's as if they make these profs. sign an agreement to follow Newspeek guidelines when hired. The usual excuse for everything is due to racism, etc.
I learned a whole lot in his History after Civil War class. his quizzes are over assigned readings in the book, but his tests are over the notes he gives in class. there is a LOT of note taking, but i've never taken such interesting notes before. he kept the class entertaining, enlightening, and tolerable. It's worth your money
The material covered in his class was not complicated and tests weren't hard. As for the way he taught the material, I would have to say was right along with the Anti-White Male Movement and Minority Empowerment philosophy of Cultural Marxism. Not familiar, then search the net for Cultural Marxism!
Is not very informative about what he want on his test and on quizzes. He tries to pick and choose certain places in history to support his political agenda and is a subjective grader in my opinion.
Take good notes and pay attention in class and you should have no problem passing with a good grade.
Professor Ferguson presents events dry dusty tomes put students to sleep with in logical, lively ways that encourage participation and are understandable. Sparks discussions presenting topics as varied as the Leo Franks Case to the wonders of modern sanitation (why men wore hats waste disposal with no sewers + windows -enoughUSHISTORYafterCIVILWar
I'm not sure an "A" is possible because he's very unclear about what exactly he wants you to study and learn (specifics), but if you take good notes (for exams), and argue your side frequently (for quizzes), a B should be relatively easy. P.S. The guy's a total jerk and I hate him.. but he keeps me interested in the subject, and I learned a lot.
His class focuses on Historical Materialism, which is a central idea in Marxism. Get control of the schools. Use them as transmission belts for socialism and current Communist propaganda. Soften the curriculum. Get control of teachers' associations. Put the party line in textbooks.
He is fun but extremly stricked don't fall asleep in his class or you'll get kicked lol. give extra points. I really enjoyed his class.
pretty good
It's not hard to get an A in this class if you show up and pay attention. Take good notes, and do your reading. He keeps the lectures pretty interesting, but he's pretty opinionated. People complain that he isn't specific on what he expects, but it's really because he doesn't expect that much, he leaves room for originality in my opinion
Listen, im in the guys class now. he is a okay guy. its up to you! you want a great grade you can get it! you want a bad grade you can get that too! anything worth having is going to take hard work! be a "HAVE" and work hard and you will probably get an A!!! Quit being pussies! go learn!!! oh get tattooed also! id take his class again! for sure!
Great guy, the earlier comments are harsh but if you go into his class ready to learn and discuss instead of trying to argue against his view points (which can be fairly liberal) then you can get quite a big out of it i would really recommend this class to anybody willing to learn and apply some real critical thinking concepts to his class
This guy is a great teacher. At first I did not know how to take his sense of humor but he is actually very comical at times. I learned alot in his class. Take very good notes(his notes)and you will pass. Also, argue his weekly quizzes!
Great teacher! Just took his intersession class. Very flexible to a degree. But states what he expects very clear the 1st day of class. I would take him again. Plus was really funny once you caught on to his humor. He also wore a different outfit everyday with matching shoes! The class would take tally one what color he would come in with everyday.
I can not stand him personally he seems arrogant. It is an awkward class and even though the discussion can be stimulating he is not. Why buy a book if you dont use it? This class is all lecture and you are tested on that alone. Probably will not take this again.
I learned so much in his class, he stated the boundaries at the first of the semester and they were very clear. He's not an easy professor, he makes you work for an A, you have to show up to class and be on time, He's also hilarious, I would recommend his class to anyone!
He was a great teacher! I learned a lot from his class. I went in dreading the class. I hate history. On the second day, he had my interest! I actually wanted to go to class. I recommend him! I enjoyed his class even though I hate history. Just remember to argue against his weekly quizzes. It'll make life easier.
Very smart, and great teacher. The only students who don't like him are those who give no effort and try to bull their way through. If you're narrow minded, unless you are willing to learn, best you take someone else
Cool professor, very snarky. Snarky in a good way. Weekly quizzes + 4 exams per semester. Extra credit for attending class. Hugely lecture based! Take notes because that is where all the test material comes from!
Loved this class & professor! If u go to class and pay attention u should do fine on the test! He gives u the test questions a week before the test. He is hilarious and it was extremely easy to learn in his class & i don't even like history!
Easy! Interesting. You have to be really closed minded to not do well in his class. He's a great teacher. He has so far been my favorite professor. Highly recommended.
He was awesome! Funny. Just pay attention and you'll do well. There are weekly quizzes, but you grade them in class, and if you think your answer is right, all you have to do is argue why and you get it right! He sets up his quizzes so you can receive at LEAST a 100. Possible extra credit on every one. The final is a take home essay. Easy!
Great professor, and hilarious. He gives everything straight forward, and is very clear in what he wants. Awesome time in class, and not too difficult to pass if you do the reading.
He's a wonderful professor. He makes learning history enjoyable and puts everything in simpler terms. He is very serious but if he knows that you pay attention and care about your grade, he is extremely helpful. My favorite professor so far.
This class was actually a lot of fun. He is very blunt and to the point. The quizzes are easy and as long as you take good notes you will do great in the class. He is a stickler about being late but offers extra credit to those who show up. He made this class very enjoyable.
Professor Ferguson made a subject I was dreading incredibly interesting! He is huge on class discussion, debate, and essays. He is very opinionated and funny. You will breeze through his class just as long as you pay attention and take a LOT of notes. I took his 5 week accelerated course. It wasn't easy, but I am so glad I did. Great guy,
Horrible Professor... He didn't help me at all when I asked for help. I bought the book ut he said he didn't believe in it so we never used it. Final paper is an essay and I don't think he graded mine based on my actualy grade for it. Very upsetting.
This class was awesome. IF you honestly want a good grade then just follow what he says on the first day of class, take good notes too because that is all he bases the test off of & the quizzes off of the supplemental book. Good luck but you should be able to pull of an A :D
He is my favorite professor thus far! I knew nothing about history when I started this class (it was always boring to me so I never paid attention). He is hilarious and makes the class interesting. I find myself schooling people on history now! BEST TEACHER EVER!
Really enjoyed this class. My best advice is to take NOTES. And study them. That's pretty much key to passing, along with just showing up consistently and on time. There was always a lively class discussion going on, but it's not a situation where you'd fail if you're shy or don't want to speak in front of the class.
History's never been a strong subject of mine. But Prof. Ferguson is an amazing teacher and made it really fun. he's a hilarious man. He has an actual conversation with the class, letting the students participate and learn. If your looking for an entertaining class, this is it.
Great class overall. Didn't read the textbook once but still passed every quiz! The only homework he gave was reading and the very last final was a take home paper! Loved every second of this class! Super funny and gets you to actually see how history relates to modern society!
Professor Ferguson was a really good professor! He is lecture heavy and big on attendance! His lectures were really interesting though. Usually I hate sitting through lectures but he makes them really funny! He also helps you think outside of the box in his lectures. He really helps you understand the topics he's talking about.
Professor Ferguson is one of the best professors I've ever had. His lectures are full of information, and he focuses on how history has effected our current society. He actually wants his students to learn and succeed in his class. Incredible man.
Likable guy, great and entertaining lecturer, but the grading. On tests (which are all essays) it's basically 100% subjective. When you get feedback, it's often short and hard to read. A class I thought I had in the bag gave me a stress level that I didn't need during finals week.
Hands down the best professor I've ever had. He makes the class interesting. If you skip class often this is not the class for you because his tests are over his lectures. Plus he gives bonus point for showing up.
Too stressful, the professor was not helpful and my effort in his class didn't lead to anything.
Professor Ferguson is very understanding and extremely sincere with his students. He engages his students to get involved during the lectures and utilizes current events to illustrate similar historical moments. Professor Ferguson is immensely helpful when assisting his students outside of class.
Unnecessary final paper, too long for no reason. He thinks hes the only class we have. Assigns reading pages like no other and the quizzes are frequent. I thought it was only me but I asked people in class. I took him about a 1 yr ago then remembered I needed to write this. Hesa good man but a tough teacher, not in the way that I want to learn fro
There is an aspect of the grading that isnt mentioned in the syllabus or the grading rubrik. I sent an email(proofread by my mother)regarding this and was met with a rude and condescending response. He had misinterpreted my email. I apologized and insisted I meant no disrespect. He doubled down. He is needlessly confrontational over simple errors.
Very clear on assignments, as long as you try and do the work it's an easy pass.
This professor had incredible lessons that taught a lot. You have to discuss everything you learn with your peers, which helps add more perspective. Get ready for lots of reading with the textbook and the websites linked for each week. A really interesting class, would love to learn more from this professor!
Took two of his classes online during COVID. Lot's of reading and writing. He isn't a tough grader as long as you give effort and do research. Most of the class was graded by participation in weekly discussions. These discussions had a lot of questions and was not an assignment that you'd want to wait to do last minute. Overall, pretty good.
This professor is GREAT! He teaches you the history you didnt learn in high school. I learned so much from this class, and it was super easy!
His discussions are an easy grade. As long as you try and write valid points then he won't take points away. You have to write quite a bit in this class but it's nothing too hard and he also offers extra credit that he grades easy on and should boost your final grade up by 10% or a whole letter grade if you do all of them and get a 100.
I don't have many positive qualities to bring to mind about this professor. The class was easy – yes, but he has a particular way of teaching history that does not align to how history is taught. He asked a lot of "what do you think" questions and would count you wrong for your own opinion.
Literally my biggest mistake taking this class. Do yourself a favor and find a different professor if you need History credit.
This professor is a very harsh grader. If you do not answer the discussion posts 100% the way he wants, he will give a bad grade. I just did not like him overall. Very harsh and picky.
Fair grader with clear guidelines, the usual discussion posts
Professor Ferguson was awesome. He gives very clear instructions on the assignments and wants you to ask questions if you're stuck. He gives all of the resources you will need when having to write for your discussions. He also responds to emails quickly. I recommend taking this course.
this was the worst class experience i've ever had. avoid at all cosy
he hated late work and i told him that i was still figuring out how to use moodle but he refused to accept it
His feedback is great, and honestly, if you follow it for the final essay you will do great! The prompts for the discussions are honestly not great, but just make sure you follow them VERY closely. He responded to emails very quickly which was great!!
Please avoid at all costs he will literally not let you make up anything even if you have an emergency
Accessible outside of class, gave good feedback but didn't have clear criteria. Helpful videos, wanted everything to be in your own words for essays.
