he is such a great teacher!! can go on tangents at times but is very insightful when it comes to any respect of religion! definitely take him!! tests are straight from the notes, never once used or referred to textbook :)
great class. great instructer. He's a really nice and educated guy away from all kind religous prejudices, he makes the whole class more fun and intersting than just lecturing boring stuff. at the eend of the semester he offers you to visit some holly places for a 100 piont worth extra credit!he was one my bessst instructers. definitely recommended
he was kind of nerdy in a sense haha. but he was really nice. lectures can get a bit boring, but it is pretty interesting. he goes off on tangents sometimes. you have a presentation you have to present to the class but it is super simple.
He's a really cool teacher. The lectures got super boring sometimes so it's probably not a good idea to show up sleepy. Ha. But tests are ok and there's not much homework. It was a cool class
Great teacher. Offers valuable insight and practical application to religious study techniques. No hidden agenda, no surprises. Offers blackboard in addition to lessons. Very funny and casual attitude. Take this teacher!!!!
It's an easy class, he's a nice guy, and he's always willing to help. BUT THE CLASS IS A WASTE OF TIME! He teaches frivolous facts about each religion and, unless you walked in with it, you don't leave the class even remotely capable of understanding where someone is coming from. Don't take it!
Prof. Forney is a really good prof. He is pretty dorky but funny. Class was super easy, almost too easy. He is also very smart and doesn't display a bias. I highly recommend him.
very cool. very easy. very boring classes. he is really cool though. take it if u are looking for a really easy class.
Prof. F. was great, helpful & smart. It wasn't super easy, but it's true that as long as you show up and take notes, you should do fine. It's not a boring class, unless you're a slacker who's uninterested. Prof. Forney is a very fair grader. As it is RS, he is very open and respectful of all opinions/religions.
Chill class.I definetly learned a lot.Yes I would recommend him.Class can be bit boring but it's RS what do you honestly expect.Great professor though.
i took prof forney for RS 101 first semester then took him again second for RS 105. not gona lie fell asleep a few times but overall awesome class. as a teacher he has been by far my best professor in college yet. TAKE HIM
Professor Forney is a really cool guy, but his teaching style is a bit frustrating. He goes off on these random tangents that have NOTHING to do with the subjects. When we were giving our presentations in the last few classes, not everybody had an opportunity to go because he would talk for six minutes after each one. But he's cool.
Forney is a funky chicken. I missed class 7-8 times, didn't buy the book and still got a B. Expect putting in 30-40 minutes a week for homework, 1-2 hours studying for tests if you want an A or B. In the short essay and full essay portions you just have to answer how he would say it, which is explaining the same thing in 3-4 different ways.
Forney was really cool. Had his online RS 101 super easy got a B, doesn't give any homework just one assignment a week and the quiz.. Defiantly recommend him! Just make sure to listen to his online lectures and take good notes.
Seems to know a lot but he takes way too long to go through class. It took him one class to do two of six things that were going to be on the test the next week. He is also very forgetful.
Awesome class. Very easy teacher. Just go to class, take notes, pay attention and you will do just fine. He is very easy going so if you need extra help let him know. Never once used the book... didn't even buy it!!!
Great teacher - funny in his own way. Gives extra credit which is always a plus.
He's so nice and very understanding. His quizzes and tests are easy as long as you take good notes to study off of. The textbook hasn't been used so I regret buying it. He's very easy going.
Awesome class!! Very easy, nice going professor. Go to class, pay attention, get involved, take notes and you will do fine. Very easy going, no homework, gives out extra credit, easy quizzes and exams. If you need extra help let him know. Never used the book, regret buying it. If you have to take RS take it with C Forney.
Professor Forney is really helpful in any questions you may have and is really fair about grading on tests and essays. Just take notes in class and almost all his quizes and test question are in his notes that he gives you. Read the material he assigns and the class should be an easy A. He really makes the class interesting and is a good professor.
I took the 6week online class. You listened to his lectures online. It was great not 2b stuck reading a textbook. His quizes and tests based on lectures not book. You have 2like to write because you write out definitions to key terms, essays and research paper. He reads everything but is fair grader. If he offers another online class I'd take it!
Taking world religion on line. He doesn't use the textbook at all. Wasted my $. Lectures are clear. Quizzes and exams are easy as long as you keep up with the lectures. Assignments and discussions are easy. My only complaint is that he is hard to get a hold of. He doesn't respond to emails and phone calls. Very frustrating.
Doesn't use the book at all. Very nice, understanding, easy. a lot of opportunity for extra credit. Easy assignments and just 1 big research paper at the end that is not hard at all.
super easy A because of the extra credit field trips. easy quizzes, pretty easy tests. don't buy the book. class is SUPER BORING. he's weird and monotone for sure, but very nice. i missed class like twice a month and did just fine
Although Professor Forney is very monotone, he is extremely friendly and willing to answer questions during class. His exams do require a bit of studying and your odds of receiving As on them are better if you possess strong writing skills. Overall, I would recommend this class if you need to satisfy a requirement.
chill and awkward guy, helpful super easy class, some things are not explained, no use of textbook at all, and presented twice.
He presents really well organized powerpoints during every class and if you write notes and pay attention to the powerpoints you will get an A. Just remember to write a lot on the essay and short answer sections on the quizzes and tests. Great teacher! Funny and down to earth, and seems to have an interesting past.
This class was very boring after taking his World Religion class. It was all the same lecture and use of the 6 dimensions. So I suggest you take one or the other of his religion classes. He is an excellent informative teacher. Field trips for extra credit were great. Must attend lectures to get notes for tests. No test questions from textbook.
I loved this class by the end. He says you need the textbook but I got an A easily without it. He is monotone and this makes him seem boring, but if you actually listen he is hilarious. Such a sweet man and he definitely wants to help. If you can, do the monastery trip. It was the most amazing experience I've ever had.
Completely lecture/Ppoint based. The three tests(including the Final) are multiple choice, short answer (6 paragraphs), and a essay (about3-4 paragraphs) all handwritten. he offers extra credit. and there is a 7 page paper in the end. OVERALL LOTS OF HOMEWORK, BUT HE IS A HELPFUL TEACHER(except he has a monotone style)
Took his online class this semester, I found his class to be easy. There is work that need 's to be done, but overall, anyone can at least get a B if they study and do the work. His tests and quizzes are directly from PP, thought book wasn't required!

Really nice guy no text book used. don't buy it. Kinda dry sense of humor during the long role call/attendance BUT he's funny over time. Chances for extra credit! I really enjoyed the class. Take it!
Prof Forney is a nice guy. Extremely knowledgeable and unbiased, a very important trait for a religious studies prof. The extra credit trips are interesting and offer easy points. Textbook not mandatory, but it gives you a broader picture and you are able to give more in-depth answers on essays.
very nice professor, kind of funny. gives extra credit, the visits are interested. multiple choice and short answers exams not hard at all. take him
Professor Forney was a great professor! His online summer class is laid out very neatly and what is expected and due is very clear. He posts the lectures online so you have to listen to them and take notes off of the power-points that correspond. Tests are online and very basic and easy! Take this class it is an easy A
Yeah it's easy, but if you get lazy on him, you'll pay for it. Take this chance for an A on your transcript. Tests and quizzes are a joke but you have to do a good job on the term paper to get an A. He likes a specific formula for the essay and essay questions on test so don't try to do your own thing. Long ass boring lectures but whatever, easy A.
Although Forney can be a little boring, he has a sense of humor and it shows at the end of the semester. You don't need to buy the textbook at all; just make sure you go to every class and take notes on everything because the tests are SUPER specific. Do the extra credit trips too, you can get up to a letter grade higher! Easy A if you work.
Great lectures and very knowledgeable! No need for book - he gives you everything in notes. Start the term paper early! It's tough and you can submit for feedback ahead of time.
Professor Forney is unbaiassed, helpful and kind. You don't need the book! His lectures are extremely boring but you do need to take notes. 4 exams and 6 quizzes but he tells you exactly what will be on the exams with multiple chances for EC throughout the semester. THIS CLASS REQUIRES MINIMAL EFFORT TAKE HIM!
Prof. Forney is a very intelligent, kind man, but his teaching style can be quite scattered and disorganized at times. His lectures also verge on monotonous. With that being said, his extra credit opportunities are AMAZING. Being able to get a first hand experience with other faiths was so cool! Mostly recommended, but make sure to put in the work!
I took Dr. Forney Fall 2016 for my first RS class. You don't need the textbook because the tests are based 100% on lecture. Study because quizzes and tests will ask specific questions from the lecture/films. Take the research or field trip paper seriously because it is 20% of your grade. Show up to class because we do a lot of group classwork.
The online class is easy. There is some work to be done and lectures to listen to. I would recommend going on the monastary trip because it relieves you from some homework. Overall if you need a class take his online class.
Great class, great professor. Prof. Forney's 101 class was quite interesting. The material is not very challenging if you simply take the time to watch his lectures. 2 exams, 1 paper, weekly quizzes and discussion board. Do not buy textbook, you don't need it. Forney is a really nice guy, you can tell he cares. Take this class.
6 week summer class. Work due on Sunday, 1 DB post plus response to 1 other student, 1 weekly assignment (couple of paragraphs), and weekly timed quiz. Quizzes are based upon lectures, so listen to the lectures. Recorded lectures which correspond w/power point slides. Questions just ask & he'll help! Great professor, learned alot!
I took his online 100 class and frankly, if you even take just basic notes from the online lectures (which are put together pretty easily) you can pass the quizzes and test with EASE! He thoroughly explains all the subject and the test, easy. You will really enjoy the class and I would even take this again if it counted for something.
A few quizzes and three exams total. He does tend to lecture the entire time so just make sure you take decent notes. The videos he shows aren't really necessary to pass the class, they just give more context I guess. Forney's a nice guy who occasionally makes corny jokes. DON'T GET THE TEXTBOOK, we've never used it.
This Professor is ungodly boring and most of his lectures lack anything resembling coherence. It's very clear he just rambles on about random garbage until he thinks he has sufficiently covered the subject matter. He's very slow to respond to emails and wasn't there when I showed up for office hours. Google is your friend in this class.
I took the course on-line in a 4 week session. Prof Forney made the concepts easily understandable. The workload was average. in order to get an "A" you must demonstrate you understand of the topics from Prof Forney's description and perspective. For example, "A grain of salt in the ocean" is not found anywhere except from his presentation.
Professor Forney is a funny, easy going teacher. He makes dumb jokes constantly but its rather amusing. Some of his lectures get boring but so do most lectures. If you miss class, you miss a lot of important notes that arent on the online PowerPoints. The exams are kind of long but if you study everything on the review sheet, youll do great.
Online class, one assignment per week and exams every two months a total of 3 exams for the whole semester. There is about 6 videos online videos that last from 15-30 min every week of the subject for the week. As long as you read and keep up with the videos and dedicate time to the class it will be super easy. He is awesome at grading and feedback
This guy was AWESOME. Another easy-A but I still learned a lot without having to force myself to. Relies heavy on powerpoint slides but he conveys all the info you need on quizzes and tests. The videos are really helpful too. Easy test material and 2 essays. Kind of lengthy but not terrible; especially compared to others that are a nightmare.
I learned a lot and his online class is basically all lectures. Easy A if you pay attention, take down notes, and try. You will need to actually listen to the lectures because this is where he gives all of the information. Very easy-going teacher and class. Never used or bought the textbook.
He is a great professor, I am an auditory learner and it was nice not having to read so much! As long as you pay attention to his lectures and have your notes, the exams should be easy! He also gives you a study guide of what exactly will be on each exam. Recommend for an online!!
The assignments were easy to understand and well thought out. You will definitely work for your grade, but you'll get what you put into it. Seems very kind. Cares about his students. Would 100% take his class again.
Learned a lot about different types of relgions along with hearing the class openly talk about their opinions. Online class was a piece of cake!
Amazing professor he is so nice! I went on the monestary trip and i am so happy that i did! It was so much fun and well worth it! I had him online so I was nervous but it was a blast. Class is easy just do everything on time and take notes. Fair grader.
He is absolutely amazing and one of my favorite professors by far. I took the 4 week intersession class and there is a quiz every week and about 20 min lectures videos. Easy A if you do the work! Take the class!!!
This was a good online class. I enjoyed listening to his lectures. They are straight to the point. There is a weekly assignment, 4 exams, and a research paper. Work hard on the research paper and be detailed to get a good grade.
I can confidently say that Prof. Forney was one of the best professors I've ever had. The syllabus is easy to understand with an outline of when things need to be done. About 2 hours worth of lectures, a quiz, and a writing assignment a week. This class is a piece of cake as long as you TAKE NOTES! Quizzes heavily relate to lectures.
This was hands down the easiest classes I have ever taken. Make sure you take this class online though RS 101 and RS 102. Exam are posted online in a PDF so you can work on it for an entire week. I am not the best student and got a high A in both of his classes. If you get anything less than an A in the class then it's on you not the teacher.
I expected it to get very political and easily opinionated on the teacher for religion, especially in 2020. Still, the teacher was so nice, never once put in his own opinion or thoughts in the lesson. When writing papers, he always had great feedback and was extremely respectful and understanding to his students. I definitely recommend taking him.
I took his 4 week class and it was easier than I expected Great feedback on the papers, space out your time with the work assigned and be sure to take very good notes on his lectures His lectures were not very clear on what is going to be important so I had to use my best judgment for that Very easy grader Be very clear on the short answer tests
Craig is probably a great Religious Studies teacher. I had the unsatisfying experience of having him as my Asian Philosophy Professor and as a philosophy major, I was VERY disappointed to discover that Craig was basically just making it an Asian RS class. We didn't get into ANY philosophical Asian texts at all. Seems like he was just filling a spot
Not a difficult class, he reuses lectures from like 2017 but they still apply to the course so it doesn't matter much. Overall not a very difficult course, I found it pretty interesting. 3 exams and a research paper along with a couple of other assignments in between. Not a difficult class to get an A in if you do the work and put in the time.
Professor Forney is a stand-up guy! He's very kind and understanding. Leaves good feedback on papers and is an easier grader. 10/10 recommend taking him.
Lots of long lectures, but they contain a lot of depth so they are important to listen to. Extra credit opportunities at the end of the class were very helpful. Weekly assignments, so we weren't overloaded with work. They alternated between quizzes, discussion board, and writing assignments, which I appreciated. Very well rounded class.
Really great person from what I can tell. Took his class online, he cares about what he teaches. Not much work and overall easy course. I recommend it! A few quizzes & discussions, and 2 exams overall. Lectures are good he adds voice overs and goes into depth on topic.
Professor Forney is a great professor. His course is easy to follow, gives clear instructions and expectations. The lectures are very interesting and it is clear that the professor is passionate about the subject. I am taking another of his courses next semester and I am looking forward to it.
If you miss the lectures in person, he has them pre-recorded online so that you wont miss anything. He is super nice, and grades easy. You have to study and listen to lectures to get a good grade on the exams/ quizzes. Very little homework. Great teacher and easy A class overall.
Nice professor. I enjoyed the material we were learning so his lectures were very interesting. I took the 4-week fast track, so everything was quite fast-paced and we had a couple of very time-consuming assignments every day. He is pretty lenient with the grading, so just watch the lectures and take good notes if you want a good grade.
This was an excellent class under Mr. Forney. He posts weekly lectures, along with supplemental reading material and a weekly writing assignment. One research paper near the end of the term. Very straightforward, and very educational. Not much interaction with the professor or other students, but to be fair it was an asynchronous course.
I took this class as a GPA booster and tried to aim for an A, was so close, but couldn't do it. He is a bit picky when it comes to the exam definitions and essay. But if you need to take this class to knock out a GED requirement, then by all means.
I took this class as a 4 week and it was very manageable considering that the exams (2) and quizzes (4) were based heavily on the lecture videos; I didn't even have to read the supplemental material in order to pass the class. There are also some active learning assignments which were fun to do, nothing too hard. Overall, I learned a lot.
One of the most flexible classes I've had at Palomar! He had one assignment each week, test/quizzes but mostly discussion posts. Didn't do homework for 6 weeks, but he had no issues with me turning it in later for full grade. Plus the way he sets up his canvas allows you to look at your class mates posts b4 you write your own.Wink*Wink* 1 paper :p
This was a great class and professor Forney made it even better! Super nice guy, passionate about what he does, and wants his students to do well. Clear instructions and gives great feedback for every assignment. Interesting topics and a caring professor make for a great environment. More teachers need to be like him, take this class! :)
the fast-paced course was pretty manageable but was a lot to read and watch. I wish the slides were informational since the videos were long and had no speed option. Quizzes were straight from the videos and reading, and He gives you the test as a document so it's a pretty open book, just give yourself enough time since there's a bit of writing too
I took Mr. Forney's World Religions course online and it was great! Although it was online, I learned a lot and thought it was amazing. He is very organized, and clear with assignments. His videos, and lectures are very interesting and I learned so many new things! Gives good feedback and is so helpful! Great course!
He is considerate and understanding his lectures are clear and straight to the point. Easy credit but be active and make sure you pay attention
I took a fast track, few assignments, so those are big, but the class was so easy.
Amazing teacher. We had hardly any work, and he was always super nice when giving feed back. Would recommend for the needed general classes because the workload was so easy. Had a total of around 10 assignments that were super easy for a 4-week class.
I thought RS was going to be boring. But the class was amazing! his lectures were interesting. A lot of reading but I really learned a lot in this class. We didn't have discussions every week. The workload wasn't heavy. There's extra credit where you meet at different locations. which was really fascinating to learn about other religions/temples.
incredibly subjective grader, impossible to get full credit on exams, quizzes and the big research paper. 1 midterm 1 final and 1 research paper will be 70% of the grade but I couldnt get full credit despite going and beyond the requirements listed in the assignments. It was more difficult to get an A in this class than Calc 2 and physics 230
bro is one of the greatest professors i've ever had he's such a chiller and will give you more time if you need it and stuff take this class for sure.
