I hate Math lessons, but I should admit that I like this class. He is clear, helpful, neither easy-grader nor tough-grader. YES, there are homeworks almost everyday, but the good news is: you only need to submit it on the day of exam! Tips: Memorize greek letters. It's a lifesaver! And you don't need to buy textbook, just borrow it at the library.
He is a tough grader even though he gives a lot of extra credits. He is very helpful, even if u e-mail him just to ask questions, he will answer it. But, it's hard to pass his class. I wouldn't recommend taking his class. Everything he teaches in class, and all the homeworks he give are a lot different with the tests.
Mr. The homeworks assigned are not a big problem to deal with, but they might not be related a whole lot to the tests. My tip is to pay attention and take notes of examples that he provided in class. I would take his classes because our final was optional (it replaces one of the 3 exams that you have the lowest score on). Good luck!
He gave us very clearly lectures, very helpful and friendly when you asked him questions both on class or during the office hour. It was not hard to get a good grade if you do what he told you to do. Giving lots of extra credits as well :) I would like to choose his class again if possible.
Taken this class before. There are def clearer professors. Wasn't a huge fan because I had gone into office hours multiple times but he still wasn't clear. Not a huge fan of Algebra (first part of precalc, taught by Huber). Loved Trig which he didn't teach (second part of precalc). Felt like I had to teach myself a lot of the curriculum.
He goes through materials relatively fast, therefore, if you are a newcomer to Math, it presents a challenge. However, his pool of extra credit is huge. He introduces Greek alphabets, and if you remember them from there on, it is a huge life-saver. On a 10 points quiz, there are 2 points for Greek alphabets.
I really liked this class. It was the first class I was able to pay attention to and learn something from. If you pay attention in the class, it is not hard at all. He's really nice and open to questions. I definitely think he is an easy grader and gives plenty of extra credit chances. He also drops the lowest exam score too which is great!
Professor Huber is a very good instructor. He is clear in his presentation of problems and makes himself available after class and in his office for extra help. The class is quite difficult, but as the quarter went on, I picked up momentum and finished strong. As other people have said, memorize the Greek symbols because every little bit helps.
I took math 141 and 148 with him and I failed both class, He's very tough grader The maths problem will be twice harder compared to other professor. Please don't choose him to be your professor, you will regret it later. I don't why school not fire him out yet.
Very difficult exams, but allows you to make corrections at the end of the quarter to get points back. Really liked his grading system, which was point based. If you do well enough throughout the year you don't even need to take the final because he drops an exam score. Good lecturer overall, if I missed one it was difficult to catch back up.
He's quizzes and exams are so hard that never see it before. We have about 25students in his class at the beginning of the quarter, and only 7 students left at the end. Don't ever think if you are good at math that you can pass. Things he teach in class, homework problems and quizzes or exams are totally three different things. Don't take his class
I have taken 4 math classes at shoreline( 98, 141, 142, 151) and I took 152 with this aweful guy. He is probably the worst math teachers I had and will have on the future. He is extreamly fast while he gives lectures and he skips steps a loooooot. He will probably good in math. But I don't think he is fit to be a teacher.
These type of teachers are the one that makes people hate math. His style of teaching math is totally wrong. He is extremely rocket fast when he explains things. Plus he skips a lot of formulas, so that makes the math even more complicated. Be aware of this guy if you want to maintain good grades.
He is very dangerously speedy when lectures plus he almost talks out pretty much every thing. He writes very little staff. Imagine lecturing math without showing how it is actually done? He thinks he explained it but no one understands it. It's a total crisis and a waste of time to take his class.
I usually get above 3.5 in math, but this teacher just meesed my grades up. Don't go there if u wanna get good understanding of the subject and a grade. Never again mr. Huber.
I got math 141&142 4.0gpa, even 151 I got 3.9 because of absent, but wth about this professor. I done all my homework and I thought I know everything good, but wth in the test! When I faced the test, I cannot do that. No next time again!
I've never seen such a hard class like craig huber's class. He is very fast when he lectures and he skips tones of steps. On top of that his tests are extremely tricky. He will try to give marks by allowing correction but that is not what a student wants. Every student wants to get a good understanding on the subject and earn his own marks.
He has very tough exams and quizzes, but lets you earn points back by doing corrections for the exams. You have to work hard to get a good grade, but he makes you actually learn Math and not just get by the class, leaving without any knowledge. Don't worry about low grades, i suffered but endured it and ended up with a 4.0
Dont take him, he makes the class harder than it is
I found his teaching methodical and from the book. Very approachable and willing to help. All work is from book so you can work alone on problems use book 4 reference. He conveys material instead of showing how smart at math he is. He gives opportunity to rework graded problems which aids in learning material instead of moving on without underst
Huber is a solid lecturer and knows what he's talking about. He lectures like a professor at a large university, though. So if you don't like the "talking at you" style of lecturing then his class might not be for you. His exams are difficult but he allows exam corrections so you can easily bring a 68 up to an 89 if you put the effort in.
Craig is willing to put aside time to help students, although he is a tough grader. He sets exams that are substantially more difficult than the homework/quizzes. To make up for it, he gives extra credit in the form of corrections. He teaches university lecture style so if that's not your thing, you should reconsider.
Take his class. He don't takes attendence and collect all of his homework, but you'd better do all of them and go to class everyday if you want to feel free to take his quizes. The reason of other students rate him badly is that they only look for a easy teacher who can give them a straight A withought instructing them responsibly. Again, take his
His teaching style is totally differnt from others'. He gives opportunities for students to earn extra credit through corrections which is a good way to learn from your mistakes and get points back as well. By doing this, you feel confident after taking every exam. He offers extra credit in every exam, which means you don't need to do all questions
Math is math, it is difficult. Thus, do not expect for an easy teacher who can give you a straight A without teaching the class seriously. He is strict, but that is actually his strength. He fully prepares for his class and answers all students' questions thoroughly. However, it is still able to get a 4.0. Most importantly, you will gain knowledge
His grading criteria is clear. There is 600 point total, and you have to get 440 points to get a 4.0. Although it seems easy enough, your lowest quiz and exam will be dropped, which means the total is 480. However, if you do the correction seriously, there is actually many extra credit chances for you to acquire. He is helpful in your math path.
Mr. Huber's class is only good for already strong math students. His lectures follow a logical progression and you should get them if you know the material from previous classes well. The tests are REALLY hard though. Don't be afraid to score low averages, as corrections are worth a lot of points and will put you up to a reasonable grade.
He will teach u about cars then he will ask you about airplanes. So, take it if u want to get a low grade or drop it if you want to get a good grade. He actually doesnt care about your grade.
Very disappointed by this class. Do not trust the 5 star reviews. They are all done by other people that didnt take his class, they are just random people that the teacher knew.
He is not a good teacher. But he knows math tho.
This class is just ridiculous. He is probably the fastest teacher on earth. But does not help the students to understand math, rather he help them to hate math.
I took math 152, with him as a teacher, and I almost hate to come to class. Trust me if would like to get a good grade and knowledge avoid this class. Dont trust the person who said that he is good. Teachers usually change the subject thier r teaching every quarter. Just b/c he didnt teach this quarter doesnt make him a good teacher.
The lecture that he gives will not be on the quiz or exam. He gives very hard exam and quiz. He aims student to only get 50 / 100 on exam. He lectures very quick and often skips steps that will confuse the students. So there is no point of going to class and doing homework because the quiz will be from somewhere else and super hard!
Worst professor I've ever had. His lectures weren't very clear at all and was hesitant to go over the material in great detail. He also has an issue going over questions that are similar to the questions on quizzes. He also puts things on the test and quizzes he doesn't even cover in class even when he says they won't be on the test. Don't take him
I have taken 5 math classes at shoreline, but this is probably the worst math class I have ever taken at shoreline. The lecture is so quick & confusing , exams are not intended to check what the students know but they are designed to mess up the students grade & fail them. quizzes r z same. In general, Z class is super hard & teacher doesn't teach
This teacher is probably the most hated teacher in Shoreline CC. His exams and quizzes are extremely hard, he doesn't care weather u understand the material or not, he will just move on regardless. My recommendation for u is to go to another college or wait until the nice teachers teach it.
He is a awful period. He purposely wants to lower your GPA. So take it if you want.
I'm not great at math, but I really enjoyed his business precalculus class, his lectures are clear and his tests are not hard. However, you need to have a basic understanding of algebra to do well. While I failed both algebra 1&2 in high school and had to retake them, I still ended up with a 4.0 in this class.
He is the easiest one in shoreline, you must take his class because don't need to go to lecture Just read textbook and practice the problems on the textbook. Good luck
Dont take this professor, he is way too harsh on his students for no reason and he seems like he doesn't care at all. He gives office hours but you can tell he doesn't like to teach. His class is rigorous and you sorta have to learn on your own.
He shows no passion for teaching. Collects hw in batches before the 3 tests so zero feedback on what you're not understanding before you get tested on it. Terse and unhelpful; Huber attitude toward teaching would have you believing he works at the DMV, he lectures like he is waiting out the clock. Harsh grader and doesnt explain to satisfaction.
Took him for business calc and he was probably the worst professor i've had throughout my college experience. Helps you out when you ask him but even the feedback isn't quality. Tests are extremly hard for no reason and it feels like he is trying to weed out students. Retaking this class and I noticed a few kids from his class who he failed.
Overall, Craig is a good math professor. He's a very fair grader, niether harsh nor lenient. He is super helpful if you get stuck or have questions about confusing concepts. His class was certainly challenging, but not any more than I would expect of a calculus course. I think his class was a bit lecture-heavy, but that's just my view.
Good personality. Just wish he could be more easy going on grading. Each week we have a quiz.
His lecture is literally right from textbook based so it's dry like no passion in teaching. The examples are taken from the book so it's okay but the quizzes and the exam are really hard like a spike, but he gives some extra credits in exam. But just be prepared if you're going to take him.
Im never taking him again he made me not even wanna attend Shoreline anymore because his class was taught so bad.
Craig is the hardest professor I've ever taken. I've never been so anxious about my grades before and his class makes me hate math. His lectures are okay but it's the same as the textbook. His HW and exams are hard, like really different from the lectures. His gradings are fair, but you need a really high grade just to get a 3.0
homework and test are super difficult. unclear lecture. i spend tuition for nothing. He has no skill to teach so i have to watch the most lectures from another professor on Youtube. through all his lectures, his examples to explain for the lesson are easier than the homework. grading is tough. you will regret if you take his class.
Craig is the worst Math Professor in Shoreline CC hands down. He teaches the simplest of materials during lecture and gives the hardest of materials for graded works and exams. It feels like he is seemingly trying to fail his students. His grading rubric is also horrifyingly tough. Trust me kids, do not take this Professor.
This is actually the first time I get to anxious over my math score. Usually, I get at least an A for maths but I think I'll only get B at best for this course. His lectures are based on the textbook but his HW & exams are so hard. If you get bad for 1 exam, 4.0 is already impossible. If there's another teacher, it's better to avoid him.
Craig Huber is a ridiculously tough grader and it seems like he is on a mission to purposely fail his students. He also doesn't reply our emails until we pointed it out during zoom. Perhaps he is too young for his job which causes him to neglect his students and grades very heavily. My honest feedback is that he should not be entitled Professor.
It's better to not take the class if he's the teacher. Never responds to emails and give unreasonable excuses just to make you fail the class. His lectures are like listening to an audiobook as it's exactly the same as the textbook. He gives super tough assignments but he only teaches you the basics.
Worst teacher I've ever taken!Lectures are very simple and homework is very hard. You really end up teaching yourself. You can tell he doesn't care about his students.
I am speechless... he is just awful overall.
He is the worst Math Professor. He did not teach anything, his lecture is simple, but the assignments and exams are extremely difficult. He did not care about his student. Don't take his class. If you take his class, be repaired to get a low score.
Super basic and simple lecture... exams very tough and hard. Also super tough grader in Shoreline CC.
Craig was an extremely hard grader. His lectures are almost guaranteed to be an hour and a half long or more. They're filled with really simple explanations and problems but then the homework and tests are always way more complicated. He's the most difficult professor I've had to work with.
The course itself was heavily based on lectures, writing assignments and exams are based on your deep understanding and ability to adapt the concept for other uses. If you plan ahead on your study and have good time management, you will pass. The grading scale is actually quite lenient, you only need 90% to get a 4.0.
He is a good teacher overall. The trick is OFFICE HOURS. He will go over everything in detail if you attend his office hours. He's also responsive and helpful through email. Lectures are long, assignments are hard. I took his class for calc 3 so I think that class is always hard. He does a great job working with you to make sure you get it though.
He does pre-recorded lectures and the hybrid part of his classes is doing homework problems on the board for extra credit. This is not a class you can just slide through. You have to do your reading, watch the lectures and reach out if you need help. He will not go out of his way to help a struggling students, it is expected that you reach out.
He does not use other outside resources to teach. He teaches the class by himself, does not need to read the textbook for his class. Midterms are only marked based on completion. Only have written homework. He is awesome!
Craig is the worst professor I've had so far, before taking the class and knew he wasn't the greatest but I didn't realize HE WAS THAT BAD. There is 4 hours of boring and hard to understand prerecorded zoom lectures each week and are FROM 2020! He makes the test super hard and grades even harder. Don't be fooled by the rating since he rates himself
I have no idea how he can get any 5 star ratings without Craig rating himself. I took this class needing if for my transfer degree but now I'm going to take it at another school due to his terrible lectures and tough grading. Its not worth taking his class as there are alternatives that will actually give you a chance. DON'T BE FOOLED BY HIS RATING
Don't believe the hype
I am speechless the worst professor ever.
Do not take this course pls! Say again, do not take this course! This professor uses 2020 lectures to teach you with the videos like mosaic. And you will 200% percent have not idea what to learn and what to review. The only way to learn is to pray Einstein takes over your body.
I should have listened to the other reviews, don't let your ego choose this professor. Got a low score on the first assignment and I thought I followed his damn lectures to the T. I have to go through Organic Chemistry's channel to get the same information but shorter and simpler.
Everything is based of your written HW and the exam. His lecture video is nowhere to be found and it is really difficult to even get a passing grade in his class. His written HW is unable to be completed in a week, and you get problems that is unsolovable. Everything is just very difficult and there is better professors to choose from.
"Teaches" using live lectures recorded in 2020 at 480p. Constantly interrupting the lecture to answer questions from that session that are not visible in the recording. Homework is pretty much guaranteed to leave you totally confused as the 4+ hours of lecture somehow fails to cover the necessary material. Do not believe the botted 5 stars.
This guy is the goat. Cares about you, but only if you make the effort to do well in his class. Even though its online, everything you need is in the lecture videos, and he does not try to trick you. A great professor with a great system, if you're on the fence just take him! He's actually a really good professor that actually cares!
This professor need better rate! Online class in summer but I really enjoy it. He is a great Math professor, and cares about his students. His lecture videos go through all the important concepts in the textbook and they are clear and easy to understand. He's accessible outside of class, and reply to students email really fast even it is 9pm.
All of these bad ratings are far more dramatic than the class actually is. While the homework could be confusing at times he was always avaliable for office hours where he would help walk you through each hw problem you needed help on. The tests were a bit more conceptual than the hw but there was always extra credit.
The ratings for Professor Huber don't do him justice! He worked with us through every problem we struggled on and even made some time out of his weekends to help out! He genuinely cares about his students and his extra credit carries hard. He's super focused on the real world applications of his content, and makes it so that the content is useful.
His lecture are from 2020 and are 360p. Every video is 1.5 hour long but it does not gurantee that you will able to finish the homework. Exams are different from homework and much harder than homework. This class is not as bad as the rating suggested. However, if there are other choice, I do not recommand taking his class.
THE WORST PROFESSOR!!! You can't learn from the lecture he provides, which are each 1 hour 30 mins and it completely wastes your time. He never teaches clearly and instead of explaining the steps, he encourages you to use your "FEELING" or "INTUITION" even though we never encounter the topic before.
Don't take this professor since this guy one of the worst professor that I got. His assignments are too hard and I only got 2.0 GPA
Lecture videos are filmed zoom classes from 2020 and sometimes difficult to follow due to 240p quality. Grades on few assignments, you can get most points for just doing the assignments but hard to get 100% on the homework. Offers some extra credit. Exams are not super difficult and open note. Textbook optional, found a pdf online but never used.
Video lecture visuals may be unclear, yet the content is graspable. Topics cover "feelings" (Calculus 1) and "intuition" (Calculus 2). Homework mixes simple problems (unlike lectures) with challenging ones demanding a deeper understanding of lecture methods.
terrible professional. you cant learn anything from the lecture he provides and encourages use to your FEELING. wasted my money on this class and hard to get a 100 percent on the written assingments. needs to get fired. lectures are recorded in 240p and wasting your time.
So much to say about the course but not enough words. (PT. 1) The class sucks overall. Lectures reused from 2020 with obtrusive date stamps. Lecture videos posted on YouTube filled with random ads throughout video. Made getting through the videos longer and the videos are already 60+ minutes and frustrating. Poor video clarity hindered notetaking.
(PT. 2) No practice exams provided. Advised to study HW and textbook problems, but exam questions differ. No answer keys for HW or exams, a policy he will not change. Must schedule office hours to review missed questions. Lack of answer feedback from online rubric hinders problem-solving approach. Exams exceed 2-hour limit with excessive content.
I can't get over the fact that the only actual graded practice with any feedback we get is a 25 pt written assignment filled with hard problems that he doesn't give examples of. How can we be expected to solve challenging problems when the lectures and textbook only consist of easy examples? No study guide, no second chances, no answer key.
Don't take his class, no any category of problems to solve and practice, but high level. all written by your hand. he is worst professor ever I took
You should probably avoid taking Craig's classes. He can be a pretty tough grader and basically relies on you doing textbook exercises in order to learn the material, and since there aren't that many assignments getting things wrong can be pretty punishing, but I've heard this teaching style is increasingly more common as you take harder classes...
I was scared to take him because of his ratings, but he wasn't too bad. Whenever I messaged with questions he would respond thoroughly, he seemed to get a bit annoyed when I kept asking followup ones. The final is worth 40% of your grade which is crazy- also grades really tough. Almost never got 100% except on discussions and midterm I got 105 (EC)
Unfair grading and inconsistent policies. Allows some students to resubmit work but denies others without reason. Did not show up for the exam, yet still conducted it. Would not recommend if you expect fair treatment.
The lectures are unclear and hard to follow, making it difficult to understand the material. The professor assigns too much homework without proper explanations, and grading is inconsistent and unfair.
Terrible experience. Harsh grading, overwhelming homework, and unclear lectures. Exams are brutal and don't match what's taught. Little to no help from the professor. Would not recommend.
Terrible. Would not recommend.
Class made absolutely no sense; assignments were extremely difficult. A lot of students struggle with math so having a professor that understands this is so important. He does not accept late assignments after a certain point even if you take the time to submit work late, you still get a zero. Not how a math class should be.
The lectures are unclear and don't align with the assignments or exams. The grading system lacks transparency, making it hard to understand mistakes or improve. Overall, the class feels disorganized and frustrating to follow.
So much frustration, not enough teaching. The class is a disaster. Lectures make no sense, assignments feel random, and exams are a guessing game. Grading is inconsistent, and nothing is explained properly. Feels like we're set up to fail.
