Craig is an amazing professor and is highly recommended. Super down to earth and friendly and willing to go out of his way to help any student in the class. The course itself doesn't go into any one topic in extensive detail but it is an excellent overview to a variety of computer programs and an invaluable foundation to have for the future.
Craig is an extremely helpful professor. His methods of teaching far surpass the other intro to programming professors. In this class, I learned a lot about programming in python and made many programs. To keep it short, I don't think that there could have been a better intro to computer programming professor.
He is the best professor I ever had at NYU! Extremely organized, exam questions are very fair, some extra credits available to boost up your grades, and very very helpful. There is no reason not to take him. Although there is a hw almost every week, it really helps you to practice what you have learned in class. I love the class.
Craig Kapp is the best professor I've ever had. It was an absolute pleasure to be in his Intro to Programming Class. I've learned SO much and, suddenly, comp sci feels accessible for someone as humanities-minded as myself. He's a great professor, really helpful, super nice, laid-back, funny, an awesome guy. who made programming feel... do-able. :-)
The best! Very cool guy, explains very well, provides lots of examples, tests are fair, HW is fair, helps with HW,really nice and approachable, even inspired me to be a CompSci major. Gives plenty of study guides and by far this has been my favorite class and professor at NYU.
Professor Kapp is the best professor I have ever had. He explains everything with the upmost clarity, is always willing to help you out if you have questions, and is extremely laid back. As long as you do the homework, the exams are simple as well. Overall, highly recommended.
Great teacher and person. He takes attendance and there is a homework assignment once a week. However, Intro to Comp Programming was my favorite class this semester. Kapp is super organized, extremely smart, and really helpful. You won't regret taking his class!
It was truly a pleasure to be in Craig class. He is well organized, intelligent, kind and extremely helpful. He has a great personality, as well. You can't help but love the guy. I recommend taking this class, even if you aren't a computer science minor/major.
Don't hesitate to take one of his courses. Does everything he can so that you learn the subject, and goes out of his way so that you succeed in the class. Always nice and helpful.
Truly excellent professor, one of the best I've ever had. I had no prior knowledge of computer programming but he explained all of the concepts so well and made the subject accessible. Exams directly correlated with the material taught in class. Does everything he can to help you learn. Highly recommended professor & class.
He's a phenomenal teacher. He's challenging, but it's easy to maintain an A in the class. He's very approachable and shows interesting applications of the coding he demonstrates in class. Definitely take his class!
Great teacher. Makes the subject easy to understand.
Best professor at NYU. Very good at explaining concepts. Always prepared for class. Very willing to help and an overall great person. Only negative is that the homework assignments can be quite lengthy and time-consuming.
Craig is a brilliant and enthusiastic professor, and overall awesome guy. You'd be remiss to not take one of his classes. He is extremely friendly, chipper, patient, and engaging. Some people are just born to teach, and he is one of those people.
Very organized slides. Very organized curriculum. Consistent teaching method. Homeworks are useful and he drops the lowest one. Exams are fair. Always tries to show practical applications of the course as well. Very solid overall.
Professor Kapp is the best professor I've had at NYU. He made me want to switch my major to Comp Sci and I'm not a computer science person. His lectures are so clear, his powerpoints are amazing, he posts everything to a blog, and he grades extremely fairly. I have not a single bad thing to say about him. LOVEDDDD
He inspired me to change my major to compsci and he is now writing letters of recommendation for me. Phenomenal professor and person.
An amazing professor. Classes are interesting, and homeworks are extremely helpful. Attendance is mandatory (sign-in sheet). Lessons are very organized; all materials are posted on the course website. He's approachable and dependable. The best of the best!
Just do yourself a favor and take his class. You won't regret it. Craig Kapp is one of the most helpful and genuine professors I've had at NYU. And did I mention he actually teaches you the material? And that he cares about whether you understand or not?? Just take his class already.
Perfect Comp Sci professor. Not incredibly easy, but you will learn obscene amounts from Kapp. He truly cares about his students as well as the course material. Very approachable and encourages everyone to go beyond his class. I wish I could switch to comp sci major =/
Craig Kapp is an amazing professor. Just brilliant. Engaging, funny. I wish he could teach all CS courses. He is hands down the best professor I've ever had at NYU. I learned so much about programming. He prepares you well for exams and posts notes and lecture slides on the class blog. Awesome professor!
Why can't there be more professors who teach like this?
ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS AT NYU!!!! My favorite. So inspiring. I really admire all his work. Makes the class really engaging by showing you all you can do with CS.
Craig is an outstanding professor who lives up to his reputation. Very approachable and knowledgeable. Engaging lessons, careful selection of material. Makes himself available to students even after course completed. Takes genuine interest in his students and what they get out of the course. Absolutely top-notch!
Probably the best professor I've had at nyu. He truly has a passion for this and it shows when he teaches. His classes fill up so quickly for a reason
By far one of the best compsci professors at NYU. Very approachable and sincerely cares about his students. I have taken two intro courses with him(java and python) and never left a lecture confused or frustrated. the best of the best!
Great professor! Classes are very well organized and the professor is super helpful and approachable. Also, HE IS CRAZY HANDSOME.
Craig is awesome!! He is the best professor I've ever met! The lectures are clear and he will help much on our programs. I like Cs and I like him! Besides, he is so handsome!
Best prof in nyu!
I really can't thank Craig enough for making me love comsci. He's so encouraging and will do everything he can to help each student. Almost every assignment has extra credit, and is so reasonable with grading. If you are lucky enough to take a class with him. DO IT. So many people want to take his class; there's a reason. Craig is honest the best
He will make sure you get an A
I have never wished I could take a class again until I took Interactive Computing with Craig. He is very knowledgable and goes through information several times to make sure everyone understands. Very willing to help if you need it. Most fun I have ever had in a class. Highly, highly recommend. Easy A if you do all the homework.
Craig Kapp is one of the most highly regarded professors not just within the CS department but overall at NYU. He makes it very clear from day1 that he cares deeply about his students and inspiring them to learn their absolute most every lecture through amazingly organized and clear lectures. He is also very understanding and reasonable. 11/10
Craig was one of the best professors I have ever had at NYU. The class was NOT easy, but his devotion to helping you succeed made me WANT to work harder. The assignments were so time-consuming, but I felt obligated to go to office hours every week to get them done. I never had to cram for exams because I ended up understanding the material so well.
Professor Kapp is without a doubt the best professor I have ever had. I'd never taken a CS class before and he made everything so clear and cohesive. He is always available and willing to help. HW assignments always have extra credit which helps at the end of the semester. I will definitely be taking his classes again!
One of my favorite professors at NYU. So friendly, approachable, and helpful. Always willing to help students, whether asking to take a test early, which class to take next, homework help, or personal questions. There is a lot of homework, but he gives you a lot of creative freedom and is very clear about what he expects. Fair/easy tests.
TAKE HIS CLASS! There's a reason why his ratings are so high. Go to his lectures, they're amazing! His assignments and tests lean more towards the medium/difficult spectrum, but because his lectures are so amazing, you'll do fine. He's basically always there for you if you need him. Never took programming before, but he made me wanna switch to CS!
Great teacher! Lots of extra credit, so there's always opportunities to make it up if you got a bad grade. Very friendly, and gives lots of help if you need it.
An AMAZING professor. I took his Intro to Programming class-- he really tries to get his students to succeed. He publishes modules online with videos that demonstrate everything you need to know. He's very helpful and clear. If you take advantage of all of the resources he provides, you'll be able to understand everything easily and do well.
I am convinced Craig Kapp is actually an angel. He's probably the most caring professor I've ever had in my college career. He's always there to help, and he wants his students to succeed in his classes. He finds ways to make the lecture entertaining, and is always well-prepared. Overall a really nice person, too. A+ 10/10 would take always.
this dude rocks
awesome guy. super helpful
The best teacher I've ever had. I wasn't initially interested in Comp Sci but Professor Kapp inspired me so much that I now want to switch to major in Comp Sci. Hes always there to help. He makes you WANT to attend every class. His class wasn't easy but if you work hard he will make sure you get the grade the grade that you deserve. Take his class!
Easy A, Awesome Professor, take him if you can
Very good professor, articulate and interesting, clearly explains all the material in class. Also very lenient (to an extent) for assignments, and even tests. Interesting, kind, and patient, while also tries keep students interested through various assignments. Offers a lot of extra credit to boost your score.
He is so passionate about his work, he is funny, and fantastic
I love him!!! He is soo great
Great lecturer. Lots of opportunities to get extra credit. No textbook needed. Would highly recommend.
One of the best professors that I have ever taken. The material isn't easy, but he really prepares you well for the midterm and exam. His grading policies are really great, and he also gives lots of extra credit which can really bring up your grade. Super nice and patient, and explains everything very clearly. He also makes the class really fun!
genius at their craft + ability to teach it + exceptional organization & class structure + passionate about the subject + nice to look at + nice & approachable + relatable (if you like zelda and pokemon) +fair grading policy the perfect professor. If this were a video game where I had to build the perfect professor, this man would be it.
Absolutely worth the hype. His lectures are clear, engaging, and fun. He always goes out of his way to explain everything patiently. There are countless opportunities for extra credit. He even brings cookies in for lab days! If you are remotely interested in computers, take this incredible, incredible class.
Great guy
He's really good!! He's awesome at explaining things which is essential for a professor in this field, and this class actually got me interested in pursuing a computer science major. Wish the class size was smaller but that's not the professor's fault.
TAKE HIM! Don't even think twice. Weekly assignments and quizzes, 2 midterms, final and LOTS of extra credit! He genuinely cares for his students, lectures REALLY well, is relaxed and overall just a great guy. You will learn a lot from him and enjoy his class!
Simply the best. He showed up enthusiastic and willing to help for every single class. There was nothing that could stop him from teaching the best he could, explaining things in a very logical and accessible kind of way. He made computer science so much fun, I would take him for every single CS class if that were possible.
He explains everything clearly, he gives LOTS of extra credits, easy grader, use your higher test score to replace the lower one. Take his class by all means.
Very nice teacher who tries to help you every step of the way. Midterm and final review packets can be helpful. Even with the "blended learning" format, it's best to show up, if only so that you can ask questions and be up to speed.
knows his material, is amazing at teaching it, understanding, approachable, caring, enthusiastic, prepared, organized.. I can go on for a while. 10/10
Great teacher but very hard class. Proceed with caution.
Craig kapp is the GOAT
He is honestly my favorite professor I've had at NYU over my 4 semesters here. He's super approachable and really passionate about what he teaches. Gives lots of extra credit and chances at redemption. Helped me decide to be a CS major. Really nice to look at. Pretty fun assignments and he genuinely wants to help everyone. I love him :'(
I have taken four classes with Craig and he is just simply the BEST prof at NYU. There are so many reasons why his classes and himself are amazing. Just take him and you won't regret.
Amazing lecturer and cares for his students alot! Even passes out cookies in class!
inspirational
nothing but respect for MY president.
Amazing
Craig makes technology easy for even the technologically ignorant. He's very up to date with new technology and explains its value in the field of education. He's able to answer every question you may have or find the answers you need. He's easy to talk to and really wants the best for all of his students. Craig is truly phenomenal!
When I think of Prof. Craig, I think: relevant content, encouragement to excel & feedback to improve every step of the way. I had an amazing time in this class. I felt especially supported to succeed and there is so much I can apply immediately. I would take this class again in a heartbeat because I know he would review to make it relevant. Thank u
Craig is one of my favorite lecturers of all time... in a subject area that I lacked confidence and enthusiasm. His calm, informative and dynamic approach to each lecture and each assignment was so valuable. He differentiated well and made the course worth our time, individually. Best ever!
Quite simply the best teacher/lecturer/educator that I have had the pleasure of taking so far. Blows my mind with his knowledge and insight. If I could have Craig for every class, my education would be complete!
Craig is an incredible educator who is innovative, yet humble. His class is engaging because of his enthusiasm, his ability to differentiate (and make you feel willing to take risks), and is immediately applicable. I wish I could take a class of his every year! Thank you, Craig.
One of my favorite professors I have had at NYU! Gives loads of extra credit, EXTREMELY understanding, and just an all around good human.
I initially took his class because I wanted to know what the hype was about, and I can completely understand why he gets this rating. You can tell he loves doing what he does, and his passion and positivity is simply contagious. He is extremely organized, understanding, and all-around a great lecturer. Not taking him would be a big mistake.
He is the type of professor you move your entire schedule around for. A true GEM. One of my absolute favorites and very understanding. He will replace previous exam grades with later ones, gives extra credit, and is very accessible outside class. I wish every comp sci professor was like Professor Kapp!
NOTHING BUT RESPECT! The best prof at NYU ever! He's super passionate about what he does. Will replace previous exam score with later ones if you improve by 10 points or more. Always gives quick responses and very accessible outside class. His lecture is very inspirational, very lucky to have him for CS intro course. Highly recommended.
NYU is blessed to have this professor. Lectures are more of review sessions for the "modules" that you go-over as the homework every week. Modules might be confusing or difficult to understand depending on the topic so the lectures are helpful. If you don't find the modules difficult, you probably don't have to go to the classes. Very easy course.
The best for a reason.
Kapp is a GEM at NYU. He explains everything super clearly and is super accessible outside of class and responds quickly to emails. Get ready to work (and learn) a lot but he gives so many extra credit opportunities that everything will pay off in the end. Best professor at NYU !! He will truly change ur life!!
Kapp is by far the best professor at NYU, both in the CS department and out of it. His classes are always waitlisted because that is how badly all students want him as a professor. I've met students who would rather postpone taking a CS class than enroll in one that was not taught by him. He is super smart and kind and NYU is lucky to have him!
Perfect
Gotta jump on the bandwagon here. This professor is the highest rated at NYU for a reason. The class wasn't easy but his study material is top notch. Not sure about other classes but in intro to programming he had video modules (with text examples and practice problems). Makes studying really easy but you still gotta put in the work.
One of my favorite professors at NYU, he is extremely clear and caring. He is truly passionate about Computer Science and his class isn't necessarily easy, but you have to put in the effort. As long as you do, you will perform well. He sets you up for success. Textbook isn't really necessary. Go to lecture if you want to see examples done in class.
I think he's a good teacher but he's 100% overhyped. The homeworks are lengthy and the tests are hard and barely curved. I certainly wouldn't say he's God's gift to earth
a great professor
Craig is very good at teaching comp sci. His in class lectures are clear and easy to understand, and he spells out exactly what he wants for the homework. Willing to slow down to accommodate people. Tons of opportunity for extra credit & the assignments are actually fun. Web Dev with Craig was my favorite of all the comp sci classes I took at NYU.
show up and pass. this is going to be the easiest A I have ever got at NYU.
my guy a big G
Kapp is certainly a solid professor. However, his class is by far not an easy A. The HW's are long and arduous. Extra Credit takes forever to do, (my gf in CSO took 3 hours to do one of them). His exams aren't easy either for those who have no programming experience. People who say this class is easy have taken AP CompSci and here for GPA boost.
Craig is great and literally the best teacher, you could not ask for a clearer lecturer. Literally no ambiguity. The problem are the students (and myself). Because he teaches so well, people try hard... way too hard. As a result the curve is unforgiving and the averages for the exams are ridiculously high despite being fairly difficult.
Craig really is the best. incredibly caring and just wants the best for his students. super accessible, he helps a ton in office hours. great lectures, makes sure we understand everything before continuing with the next topic. class isn't super difficult but there's also tons of extra credit opportunities
Yes he is definitely a 5/5 meaning he know exactly what he is doing and teaches well, although don't take this rating as him being somewhat exceptional magician, he is not, and the course is pretty tough too, you will have to spend a lot of time working
Kapp is a wonderful professor, and is just an all around great guy. He is an effective professor, and is highly knowledgable at the same time. However, this results in people trying extremely hard to do well, which makes the curve somewhat unforgiving. If you want to learn Python well, this is the guy you want.
One of the best cs professors I've had the pleasure to take classes with. If your interested in learning how to code in an approachable manner and want to be taught by a professor that is enthusiastic and actually cares about his students then Craig is the guy for you. He's very generous in terms of grading and his workload is very fair.
Amazing professor, very caring; lot of extra credit.
Saw him at Penn Station once from afar, not in a weird way tho. Best day of my life. didn't say much. He's a hell of a guy.
Prof Craig Kapp made me like Python. He explained the concepts in detailed and provided helpful examples in class. His homework was quite interesting.
Teaching during COVID is not easy, and Prof. Kapp honestly such a g. Everyone starts off the semester with 7 grace days to hand in assignments, and he is continuously so understanding and contactable through email and the Ed class forum. Pretty lecture-heavy, but that's to be expected. He makes it fun, though!
Best Prof in NYU!!! He's so nice and helpful, just like an angel!! His examples are fun and interesting which will keep your focus and pay more attention. His classes are not boring AT ALL! I enjoyed it so much besides his HWs might need some time to finish and his tests are a little bit tough TAT.
Professor Kapp was great - I'm actually a CS major because of him. He made learning Python super easy and fun and was great at clearing up any confusion students had. The class wasn't difficult - as long as you do the modules you'll be fine and there are many extra credit opportunities. Take him if you can! I wish he taught more CS major reqs
He is definitely a great professor, explains everything clearly, and always helpful during office hours. However, if you are not a CS major(like me) and have 0 experience in CS, this class is definitely hard. Assignments are lengthy and you have to spend tons of time in it. The final exam is too difficult. I would say that he might be overrated.
Kapp is such a great prof! Extra credit features on hw, midterm was a bit brutal but he curved it, and we get 7 grace days to turn things in. He does parts of the weekly hw in class and shares the code with us.
ya, hes a great prof but I had to p/f the class b/c I was spending more time in that class, doing the outrageously long WEEKLY hws, than in my other 3 classes combined and this is 100% NOT exaggeration. I had to work full t this sem b/c of fam financial hardship, so I just couldnt push through, shame! Material vry EZ, just inappropriate work load!
He is a very good professor but get ready to work. The extra credit isn't something to really get excited about because a kindergartener can get an A in the class if they wanna put in 40 hours a week alone on it. In other words, if you're already willing to go that far, you wont need it.
Online midterm & final was tough but he curved it. The assignments get much more complicated half way throughout the course but I think they're worth it, especially if you really wanna learn coding. He was super accessible on Ed forum. Extra credits are available. Although his A range is 95+, it's not as crazy as it sounds. Super caring & nice
Good at explaining things, but his pace is way too slow. Homeworks are easy, multiple choice exams which is weird but its fine as long as you be careful. Easy A overall.
He is the Best.
You will definitely miss him after you go on to take upper-level courses. Best CS professor ever.
best cs teacher in nyu
Professor Kappa is the worst professor at NYU. He doesn't care about the students and will make your life hell. If you take from this professor, you will spend your whole semester working on it. It is not worth your time.
Dont take from this professor! The assignments are not hard to get, but take too much time. The tests are ridiculously hard and are timed.
Even though this was an intro course, professor Kapp has made it the hardest python class I have ever taken. I learned basic Java for two years and I still feel stressed learning Python.
This class is very hard and time consuming, but if you work with the professor, he will help you.
Professor Kapp is the nicest person I ever met. He is the best professor in the world:) He also teaches game design, but I will not take this course probably, bc I do not like the turtle thing in this course. In all, I recommend him to everyone.
He is the best. Definitely take him.
Professor Kapp is AMAZING. I can't say enough good things about him. I've had few teachers who care as deeply as he does about his students' success. If you have a question, he responds extremely thoroughly, often within 15 minutes or less. I have so much gratitude towards Professor Kapp; If you have the opportunity to take his class, you must!
OMG I LOVE HIM. TAKE HIM. best professor I've ever had in my life. he is also really cute and caring lol. However, he does give a TON of assignments that will make you go nuts. Go to the tutors for help with that. The midterm was simple but the final was hard - lots of reading code. I changed my whole major to CS after taking him. He is a real gem.
It actually hard to grade. If we are only talking about teaching skills, he gets 5/5 as he is very good at that and he also gives extra credit as long as you work for it. That being said, his homework is EXTREMELY LONG and exam is nowhere near easy. The exam is not ez but the median is way too high. I also feel like a lot ppl in class had prior exp
He is a good professor and pays a lot of attention to students, however, the hw assignments are extremely long and time consuming. Requires self-learning, and repeats some contents during lectures which sometimes is tedious. But you will learn a lot in his class and is worth taking if you want to build a strong foundation for future coding.
Professor Kapp is a genius! His lecture is clear and inspirational. There will also be extra credits for hw assignments to boost your grade. Best professor from CS department!
Spr 2022. This class takes way more time than my major courses!! Kapp's incredibly hard weekly assignments make me wanna smash my keyboard sometimes... If you do enough practice exam and save them with templates, the final exam will be quite similar despite very limited time!
I have never seen a professor put in as much effort as Kapp; It's truly incredible. However, as a byproduct, the class is a lot of work for a minors-level course. The assignments will have you going for hours. You'll learn a lot, but be prepared to allocate some serious time - especially if you're only moderately comfortable with coding.
Prof Kapp is simply amazing. I love his lectures and appreciate the efforts he put in. I think the assignments could be way too long for an intro course but these long assignments did help me to understand and memorize the skills really well. So if you're planning to learn some solid coding skills, do take him and do the hw!
a great professor with interesting lectures, extra credit for final grades
I came back to rate Dr. Kapp after taking my second CS class at NYU. My professor now is so bad and I started to appreciate Dr. Kapp a LOT more. now thinking back all the lectures were SO interesting I actually was excited to go.
Great professor with inspirational lecture! Extra credits will boost your grade!
He's the most organized prof I've ever had. I wish he could teach more advanced classes.
He's the most organized professor I've ever had. HW and extra credits improved my grades a lot cuz I did really bad in the midterm. I wish he could teach more advanced classes.
Take his course, you can't have a CS professor better than Craig at NYU
Amazing professor! Very caring and really looks out for all the students. Clear instructions, and exams are very easy. Have fun taking his class, you won't regret it! 10/10 will take again in the future.
The kindest professor in the world. I can't think about a reason that makes ma hate this class
Genuinely godsent! Don't know many professors who are as clear, understanding, and talented at teaching as Craig. I just wish he taught more classes in the department. NYU and his students are so lucky to have him.
He gives good lectures, but his homework is tough. You need to spend a lot of time working. And you have both the projects and exams for midterm and final. Too much workload for a 300-level cs class. The final exam is hard but curved. Don't just take his class because you see a 5 here.
Confused the whole time in class
This class is HARD for non-coders (like me) but Prof. Kapp is so accessible and such a great professor that as long as your willing to work, it'll be one of the most enriching classes at NYU. Take it if you want to learn and are willing to dedicate 4-10 hours on HW (there are like 12 of them).
Professor Kapp is easily one of the best professors I have ever had. His class (computer programming) is enjoyable and I get excited to go to it. There is definitely homework, but it doesn't feel like busy work. I feel like when I do the homework I am actually getting better at a skill. I would totally take his class again!!
Pay attention in class&do your assignments and you're set. I've never had concepts explained so clearly to me + he provides great examples to teach you further. Super friendly, accessible outside class, clear explanations, hws that help you learn, clear & FAIR grading policy. Best prof I've ever had in my life-- appreciate the time you have w him!
Amazing and sweet prof, he wants you to learn relevant skills AND get an A. Although he is an easy grader and pushes back deadlines / gives grace days, he assigns waaayy too much work; his level 60 web-dev course was more work than CS201 and almost as much as linear algebra. Nothing was really difficult, but be ready to put in the work / time
absolute GOAT.
Still taking his class but he had me when he brought snacks to his workshop today :) super helpful, really really nice and handsome too. Hopefully we get Oreos next workshop, I'll update at the end of the semester
He's a kind Prof. But he truly assigns way to much assignments that its overwhelming. Hw's were so long and tough, very different from lecture wheres hes so nice with easy questions. You will learn a lot, but at the expense of any free time you have sadly. Exams were pretty hard unlike review sheets easy. Too much workload for a level 60 cs class.
This man is going straight to heaven
He is one of the best professors in NYU. Truly kind and respectful. BUT, this class really took a toll on my mental health. You will learn so much about web development but it really requires a lot of time and work. Don't take this class if you have a lot of stuff going on or a lot of other important courses that are difficult along side it.
I have graduated and I took three classes with Craig. He was absolutely amazing and was one of the best profs I had at NYU. The stuff I learned from his lectures is so applicable to my current study and industry work.
Amazing professor, I know I will come out of class understanding everything he teaches. He's a super fair grader and gives homework that is relevant to what we're learning. It's a LOT of hw tho so do not take this course w/ other intense classes! Exams are also hard but he is fair and adjusts accordingly. He just wants you to learn and succeed!
BY FAR the kindest and most amazing professor I have met at NYU. He is not only incredibly passionate and knowledgeable about his subject, but he is always looking out for his students and giving them the best chance at success. He is flexible and understanding for each student despite the large class. Very encouraging and is a great help during OH
He is a very caring and funny professor who makes his classes dynamic, and in this way, you learn the material well. That said, I've noticed he can sometimes play "gotcha" on the exams which is disheartening and can ruin your grade. He is a good grader though and understands where credit should be given.
Kapp is a great professor, he's very caring about students. However, his hws and exams are BRUTAL. He does give grace days for hws, which can be very helpful. Final exam was very hard and had too many questions; he had to give free points! However, you will definitely learn a lot of coding in this class that you otherwise would have never learned.
He is a gem. Take his class if you can, its so well organized and you can contact him and the TAs trough text in this website where you can see other questions and responses and be anonymous. He also added 10 grace days to the 10 he already gave us to encourage students to keep going and get good grades.
He is the perfect prof to get u started in computer programming. Take him if you can :)
BEST TEACHER. I got a C+ and I'm still writing this because that was a me problem tbh. You have every resource and opportunity to succeed in this class. USE THE TUTORS- wish I realized that sooner. My only complaint is the weekly assignment took me 11+ hours every week... Although this is an intro class, you jump write in which was tough.
LITERALLY WORSHIP THIS MAN BEST PROF IVE EVER HAD Pros: Extremely kind (Prof Kapp has NEVER come to class in a bad mood); Engaging, amazing lectures; Organized; Very funny & talented at teaching; Homework is long but easy & instantly graded; Gives free snacks; Great office hours Cons: Homework takes VERY long to do; midterm and final are difficult
What else can be said about Craig at this point... he is obviously well respected and admired at NYU. Truly, a special professor. If you are looking to take a class from a great professor and become inspired, look no further! Craig gave lectures that were inspirational and very interesting. He is the BEST! You will be lucky to take his course!!!
such a funny and engaging professor. made learning to code for the first time so logical and fun, like solving puzzles every class. learned a lot without making the class too difficult
choose him, wont regret, mvp
Professor Kapp was incredible! He gave me such a good intro to the computer programming world.
only 1 month in and i already know he's the best professor ill ever have in nyu
He is the best professor that I am going to ever have in nyu, I knew this since the first week I have him. I take this course as an elective and choose cs and learn python because of him. Really love Prof. Kapp, take him if u can!!!!!!!!!!!!
Very organized and efficient! Tests and quizzes are fair, no tricks. Clear lectures, many online resources, many tutors available. A lot is learned through online videos that are then expanded on in the lectures, so if you don't like that maybe avoid. Easy to get a good grade if you just do the work.
