Very charismatic teaching style. Interesting guy. Expectations of student course work is a bit vague however.
GREAT TEACHER! really knows what hes talking about! His admiration for his classes keeps you interested.
Awesome. Loves his job and it shows. He teaches history to make it interesting and to make you successful.
Excellent professor. Tell you what to study...study it and you'll get an A.
Like everyone said, awesome guy and very in to his class. Anyone interested in history *must* take the class with him. All you have to do is TRY in order to get a decent grade - he gives you everything you need. My favorite!
I hate history. But Doc Liv was a great prof if you love love love history. He loves it a lot and knows everything about it that one can know almost. He is from Utah and lets everyone know. He looks and talks like Bill Walton!
Very good teacher, don't like history, but he really made it interesting.
This guy is crazy. He's a great teacher cuz he gets really into it and he'll actually like dress up in old military uniforms and he wears a whole kilt get up sometimes and he'll play the bagpipes. His class, so far, is pretty hard though.
amazing teacher. great enthusiasm. great reviews for test. funny to watch. semi-hard end of year project.
I love Dr. Livingston...He's a great teacher and always keeps his students interested through his great display of passion for history...Millitary History in Particular
Awesome teacher! You actually learn things, while making a good grade, good notes and handouts, great tests.
Love this class. He makes it interesting and fun. Looks good in a kilt too!!!
Makes learning history a blast. he would fire his revoutionary muskett for a class, takes country honor/patronage very seriously and plays the bagpipes with mastery.
Take this professor! This has to be one of the most knowledgeable prof's I have had. Minute deatails, he seems to pull out of his head, he is very interseting, and he will always offer help to a student. He also plays the bagpipes on friday which is cool.
Great class, makes it so interesting. He has to be one of the best professors at Montgomery College. Show up for the lectures, study and you will do great.
Hard but fair. Makes class entertaining
Great teacher! It isn't a slack course though. But, as long as you do the study guide and study it, it is easy to get 100s. Very lively class and isn't boring.
He has a great voice for lecturing, but i found myself so caught up in the sound of his voice i didnt pay any attention to what he was saying. the military time gets nauseating, and hes not as funny as he believes. i failed the class, just couldnt pass those tests. dont listen to these people, make life easier and dont take this professor.
He is a good professor and is very knowledgeable but his tests are very hard. If you want an easy A this is not the class to take. He has a good sense of humor and everything but in my opinion he is hard. But if you are planning to take HIST 1301 or 1302 take Professor Reginald Jayne, definately an easy A, if you do all your work.
Livingston cares about and knows about what he's teaching. The most interesting teach I've ever had.
Awsesome professor! Hilarious! Attend class, listen to lecture and follow the study packet he gives you. Test answers come exactly from packet. He made history fun. Only thing...watch out for the book report..he's really meticulous.
The most knowledgable professor I've ever had. His class is very interesting but not easy. Kinda picky about test essays. But otherwise a great professor. If you study a fair amount of time, you will get good grades.
great teacher, very hyper and energetic. tests are kinda hard, its not a blow off class...you shouldn't miss any days and always study. over all though one of the best history teachers i've had.
Livingston is a great prof however he is not easy to the least bit. Follow the study guide, listen to what he says [which is a lot so be ready] and do your essays and extra credit and you can make a B unless your smart in this field. Not an easy A whatsoever.
AWESOME CLASS
Super enthusiastic about the topic. He gives out study guides that basically contain all the answers for the test. Class can be a little boring because he goes through powerpoints, but he is a great teacher. Always in a great mood.
This guy is definately one for the history channel! He knows the subject and loves it! Vivid descriptions to every battle, and great extra credit opportunities that really have something to do with the material! Highly recommended.
Absoluetly best History teacher in the world!! He is passionate about History and it shows. His tests are easy, he grades fairly, and if you want to walk out actually learning something then he is the Professor for you!! If you want an easy jerk off class take Rebecca Butler.
Fantastic professor! Brings the subject to life..I always enjoy class. I would recommend him to anyone!
Wonderful history professor. His classes have turned history into my new favorite subject. Tests come straight from the study guide, which has questions that are answered during class time, so it helps to come to class. Quite a few extra credit opportunities. Not an easy A, but if you take time to study you'll do just fine.
Dr. Livingston brings History to life! Go to class every day, study the study guides, read the text, and you'll do fine! He rocks!
Very easy! All you have to do is attend class to get the answers from the study guide. The tests and quizzes come straight from the study guides so just study and you will pass easily. Some extra credit offered too! A+
Dr. Livingston is extremely good at teaching history, and he is really fun. He gives many extra credit options; this year there was a civil war trip over spring break, very fun! Tests are over the study guide & jeopardy. He makes history so real! Plan to take him again for 1302.
This instructor is AMAZING! He's very passionate about what he's teaching and he makes the class fun and exciting. He's very helpful and provides many extra credit opportunities. He makes it very easy to do well in this class. I would definitely recommend taking his courses!
Dr Livingston is awesome! He proves how cool history can be. I always reccomend others take his classes.
He is a good teacher who is very pationet about what he does. Show up to class pay attention, and if you study the material he gives you, easy high b or a.
loved his classes took both 1301 and 1302 in one semester and enjoyed his classes even at the end of the semester! he is passionate about teaching and history in general so makes learning the subject way easier (esp since i hate history classes of any type)
The most passionate teacher I've ever come across. Made learning about History so much fun. All his tests come from the Study Guides that you go over in class and the majority of the Test questions come from a game of Jeopardy you play the day before the exam. Fantastic teacher!
He is amazing. I always loved history, but after taking him, I even love it more. He is not hard, as all his questions on the tests come from the studyguide. He is rather critical about writing though(English is his second major). For those, who are passionate about subject, it is an opportunity to learn a lot.
He knows the material well and apparently loves history. He makes it understandable. Every question to be on a test or quiz is on the study guide. Tests were not cumulative. I am very glad I took this class with this professor. I would definitely recommend him.
Dr. Livingston is one of the best history teachers i have ever had. He gives you clear study guides, tells you where to find the answers and even references the SG questions on the tests. This class is an easy A if you show up and do the study guide. Those who rated his class as difficult where obviously not ready for college level courses.
He definitely loves what he teaches. The study guides he gives are very clear and easy to fall. Attendance is pretty important, and it was completely my fault that I didn't get a higher grade. He was a great teacher.
Great teacher. Back when teachers really were passionate about what they taught. Take him!!!
He is the best history professor that I have ever had. no doubt. You have got to take him. He is the most passionate history teacher for sure. He is not that hard as long as you keep the study guide.
He loves what he teaches. The best history teacher ever!
Awesome professor! So enthusiastic every time he enters the room, vibrant in his teachings, and passionate about his work. I'm sooo not a history person, but he makes the course come alive and seem as if the scene he's laying out happened just yesterday. He's very rapid, and it takes a few classes to get a rhythm down on notes, but is overall great!
He is the most outgoing teacher I have ever had. He does know his stuff and that makes it exciting to have a teacher that does (they don't always). His test are half multiple choice and one page essay. His second major is English and he grades his essay as an English professor. His essays were soooo hard for me, but I still managed an A.
Makes History Fun! The amount of information this man has retained is amazing. He tells stories as though he was there, met the people involved, and saw it all happen. If you go to class and listen to lecture, you surely will end up with an A.
AMAZING professor! He's really into what he teaches, so it's fun to learn. He also tells you little things you might not have known, which is very cool. He's always willing to answer any and all questions. Just follow the study guide and you'll do well
Excellent professor. He knows his stuff like nobody?s business, and loves it, too. His classroom manner is extremely engaging. Very interactive, helpful, and reasonable, but definitely no pushover. If you are attentive and do the majority of the homework with a reasonable amount of studying, you?ll have no problem getting a good grade.
Wow I hated this class! The majority of things he talked about in class were not even on the test. He expected you to write 3 pages on somethig that only had a paragraph in the textbook on his essay. His study guide hardly helped. Do not recommend this class. He knows his stuff and has an animated voice, but it didnt make the less anymore enjoyable
He knows his stuff, he rambles on in history 2, but if you do the study guide and review his review, you will be fine. He gets long winded in history 2.
Professor Livingston is my favorite. I took him for 1301 & 1302 and both classes were a delight. He knows his stuff better than the book and tells you things you might not have known. He's very passionate about History. He's also great to talk to - about ANYTHING. Very helpful when I have questions. Study guides are very helpful.
Very good professor. Had him for 1301 and I just signed up to have him again for 1302! I recommend him for sure
I struggled a lot in his class. I really struggled because of my stay in the hospital and recovering after surgery. His lectures are fast paced and the study guides are not reliable for the tests. I'd recommend reading the Ch's in the textbook. However, Livingston is a sweetheart and understanding. Overall, he's a good professor but not an easy A.
He is awesome!! If you pay attention in class, he literally spoon feeds you the answers to his study guide. He tends to go off on a tangent of things that arent on the study guide but his class is still super easy!
Livingston really makes History worth learning about.
Dr. Livingston is a great professor who really cares and is passionate about what he teaches. His quizzes and tests are all multiple choice, and he prepares his students for these tests very well. I hardly picked up the textbook. I found this class very interesting and recommend taking his class!
As an African, I had no prior knowledge of the American History. I thought I would struggle in Summer 1 class, but Dr. Livingston's lecture stories, explainations and zest made me feel like he lived in that era. He loves his job and that is why he is so good at it. I didn't know he would so good, I should have registered him for Hist. 1302.
best history teacher ever!!!!! i hate the subject but he made it entertaining and fun!! he offers TONS of extra credit throughout the semester is hard not to get an A. i highly recommend him, you wont regret it!
Best history teacher ever...he made history fun, and you will not fall asleep in his class. He is very energetic, and loves to teach history.
Livingston was by far the best teacher I have had since I started college. His passion for the subject shines through in his ability to teach it. I HATE history but he made it fun! Lots of opportunity for extra credit, gives a study guide that is directly on the tests. You study, you make a good grade! Simple.
Professor Livingston was very lively and entertaining to say the least. He was helpful with only a little cloudiness as far as his directions were concerned (largely because he seems to get excited causing him to sidetrack into another subject). My whole class is taking him again for 1302 next semester.
Livingston is the best history professor I have ever had!! he makes History much more interesting and speaks about it with a passion! you won't regret taking his class! took him for 1301 and 1302! Easy class if you study! TAKE HIM!
He definitely is one of the best history professors out there. I felt like he took me back in time in his lectures. He truly has a passion for the subject & made me love it even more! You have to take his class. You wont regret it!
This Professor will take you back in time! it is awesome how he can motivate ya into liking history and it made me want to pursue a degree in Military History! YOU ROCK LIVINGSON!
The greatest teacher I've ever had. Don't have to buy the book. He gives you all the materials needed. He gives you packets that are fill in the blank which is word for word on the test. As long as you pay attention and come to class, you'll get an A.
Great teacher! The best! Keeps you really interested throughout the whole class! Taking him again! He is literally the BEST
Truly amazing teacher of history. Just do the study guide and go over the other study material he hands out and you'll get a good grade. Professor Livingston is very helpful if you have questions or need anything. And he gives plenty of extra credit.
Good teacher goes to fast but love his class
Dr. Livingston is hands down the best professor Lone Star has to offer, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND his class. He is very passionate about what he does, which gets his students enthusiastic as well. He makes history very interesting, and offers a lot of EXTRA CREDIT. Loved his 1302 course, wish I had taken him for 1301.
BY FAR the most interesting class I've had. Professor Livingston is the most KNOWLEDGEABLE, passionate & detail oriented professor I've met. If you're in college to learn this is the guy for you. He was also an English major, so make sure your papers are on point. I wish he taught more classes. I took his HIST 1301 (B) & 1302 (A).
The guy is legendary. He really is about as good as it gets! The man has a golden voice in that everything he says sounds like the narration for a movie trailer; this is due to the glowing passion he has for history. I also think he should have his own TV show; he is THAT engaging. He WANTS you to succeed + truly loves his students. Outstanding.
No way not to pass his class!! I hated history and he made it fun for me! Extra credit may only be a couple points, but they add up fast!! He makes the material fun! I can't wait til Fall for 1302!! Just memorize the study guide and you will do great!!! TAKE HIM!!!
Everyone has said it! This guy is AWESOME! I wish I had taken Dr. Livingston for 1301. He is passionate and makes you enthusiastic about learning HISTORY! I constantly bragged about him to my husband. This is the kind of professor when you reflect back later on in life about college experiences, you will think of him.
Took this class during the Summer. He gave three tests and three quizzes and two essays. Everything is off of the study guide he gives out so just study that and you should get a decent grade! He's extremely passionate about History so it makes the class more interesting.
He is simply the most helpful, passionate, fascinating professor I've ever had! He treats his lectures like a performance! There is never a dull moment in the classroom. His tests all portray to information found in the study guide. As long as you pay attention and apply yourself, you will finish with an A and a fire for history!
Best professor on the planet.
BEST TEACHER EVER.
OMG the easiest history professor ever!! His study guides are the test and he does reviews before the tests. He is fun just to listen to because you can tell he loves history. Lots of extra credit opportunity and is willing to answer questions on the test. Have a nickname picked out because that is how he gives out grades, using a secret code ;)
Hes a good teach i would take him again
Attendance may not be mandatory, but you get extra credit for attending. He is a great teacher, you will love him! The tests were just like the fill in notesreview. Only had 3 tests - the last one counted as final, not accumulative - the first two tests had essays. He grades you tough on the essays. But overall, he was my favorite history teacher.
His passion for history is intoxicating! Lectures are engaging, interesting and sprinkled with humorous stories. Study guides are provided which also function as fill-in-the-blank notes. Tests come right off of the study guide and the essay questions are given ahead of time so that you have ample of time to prepare. Absolutely brilliant professor!!
AMAZING! I have never learned more about history in my life. Every class is an amazing presentation, just listen and pass! He gives you a study guide you fill in as you go. 170pt class, 10x3 quiz, 35x2 tests, 10x2 Essays, 50 final. Extra Credit: 2 if you come everyday, 2 fifedrum, 2 hist club, 3 charity walk, 2 movie night, 5 watch reenactment .
Although Professor Livingston tended to lecture on random stuff sometimes, he was a very good professor. I would definitely take him again. He's funny and the study guides he gives are very helpful.
Professor Livingston was one of those teachers that will always stand out when I think of my college days! He is engaging and makes history interesting. Loved his class! My advise: take his essays serious and prepare ahead for them. There are only 2 in class essays. His quizzes and test are straight off his study guides. Easy A if you put in work.
He is one of the best teachers I've had! His lectures are amazing, entertaining and interesting. He gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit and 100% of his tests are based on his study guides. It is an easy A but you must dedicate time and effort. It is worth it, however.
Livingston is awesome. He makes History come alive. I took his specialty History class and I had a blast. You can really tell how passionate he is about history. I would totally take another class of his if I wasn't transferring. Take his class! It'll be great!
Mr. Livingston is an amazing teacher! He has so much experience and knows so much about history! He gives study guides for his tests, and if you fill them out and pay attention to lectures, you're guaranteed to pass. He gives a lot of extra credit, which helped a lot! I would definitely take his class again!
Professor Livingston is one of the best professor I've ever taken. He truly loves what he teaches and so knowledgeable. Like any other class, if you do the work you will do well. What I liked the best is that tests are based on the study guides he issues before covering each chapter. He also offers several opportunities for extra credit.
He is a great professor. The only problem is he teaches as if we are all history majors, which made it sometimes hard to follow along. Each test has a short answer portion but he gives you the question before hand to prepare
Livingston is the professor to take at Lone Star for history. Bottom line.
I love his class! The study guides he give us is very helpful! He provides extra credit, and I like it! He's very knowledgeable, and he has passion of history! I recommend this professor! He's better than other professor I take before! No need to take much notes! Just only fill out the study guide!
Great professor! Very passionate about history. He gives out study guides to take notes with and they are very helpful for the tests. If you study only the study guide, you can easily pass his tests.
Craig Livingston is the only professor whose name I can remember from college 15 years ago. That's how much he stood out from other professors. Livingston is inspirational, gets you involved, and his lectures come alive! He's a former US Army Captain. He commands respect but is friendly. Best history professor ever.
Incredible Professor! By far one of the best in the LoneStar system. He is passionate about the subject matter and has true desire for his students to be successful and enjoy History. Class is easy, filling the blank study guides w/ a review that come directly from the test, but in no way does the easiness take away from the depth you will learn!
If you need to take History and you don't his classes, you only have yourself to blame. I took him for 1302 last summer semester and was going to transfer to San Jac for the fall because I moved. Ended up staying at LSC Montgomery for the fall semester and commuting from Deer Park just so I could take his 1301 class.
Nice professor. Loves History. Is approachable. Cares for all of his students. I would recommend his class anytime. All around a nice professor.
Awesome Professor that is a super star of History knowledge! Exciting lectures that bring a clear picture of history! He gives notes to go by and test answers will come from this, his lectures and review. Study this and go for extra credit opportunities! You should pic this one!
Dr. Livingston is the most passionate teacher I have ever come across...I never really cared for history, but his enthusiasm really caught my interest for American history. He really changed my perspective and made me realize how important it is to be informed of our past. Really amazing guy!!! I am taking him again for History 1302!
Professor Livingston is an incredible teacher. I recommend him to anyone who's looking for a history professor. He loves the subject on a deep emotional level and makes his lectures very interesting. I personally didn't care for history before his class, but now I love it. He offers a lot of easy extra credit. He's my favorite professor by far.
THE BEST PROFESSOR IN LONESTAR!! he so kind and respectful and he gives soo many extra credits and would help you a lot ! you wont regret taking his class
BEST TEACHER!! Livingston's classes are easy to understand and if you have any questions he will take time to answer them. If you have a head for history the class is pretty easy but if you don't it is not something to worry about, just study a little more and you got it. The attendance was extra credit, but if you skip it is harder to pass tests.
He's not for everyone. If you are a learn by powerpoint/taking notes type of person you'll probably dislike this class. He works by filling in blanks in packets and lecturing. He's incredibly knowledgeable and very entertaining in class but if you learn best by traditional methods, he will be difficult for you.
Professor Livingston is by far the best professor I have ever taken at Lone Star! 100% would recommend him and I wish I could have taken him for HIST 1302. He makes you want to learn and offers lots of extre credit. He is extremely passionate about history!!
EASY class, INCREDIBLE Lectures, gives plenty of extra credit including for attendance. He loves history and makes you feel as if you were there. Textbook isnt necessary but I would recommend to have it if you want to work ahead on studyguide. Otherwise you pretty much do all your homework in class, except when studying for test inclass essay.
He is very passionate about history. Highly respected. He narrates, reenacts, and brings stories to life. He offers a lot of extra credit. Book is not really needed unless you want details or to get a head. He gives fill in the blank study guide which is pretty much the test. Actually study that and you'll pass.
Loved Professor Livingston! Should be rated at 5.0. He really brings the stories to life by the way he narrates and reenacts them. the book is needed if you want to get ahead or for details. but study guide is enough! He is very sweet and offers a lot of extra credit!! cant wait for his 1302 class!!!
Great teacher, really passionate about history. I'm not interested in history, but he made it interesting. With that being said I made an A so anything is possible if you dislike history. Do the study guide and you'll pass. He gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit. There were essays on tests so do an outline the day before if it helps.
Livingston is a fantastic professor. His lectures are long and can be tedious, but he provides very clear guidelines and study guides for the tests. He gave us three tests, and with two of them there was an in-class essay. Be prepared to study and do some in-class writing!
I took him for 1301 + 02. I absolutely adore Professor Livingston. He is by far one of the most caring professors. His passion for history really brings his lectures to life. He gives a fill in the blank study guide to go with his lectures. The class plays jeopardy right before the test for extra credit and to review. He has a great sense of humor!
I have a newfound passion for history thanks to Professor Livingston! Attending lectures are necessary, since a lot of the study guide blanks aren't in the textbook, but you won't regret it. The three quizzes/tests and two in-class essays are easy as long as you focus on the study guides he gives you. I can't wait to take him for HIST 1302!
He's honestly a good really good teacher, very engaged with his students, but the essays are a little hard but worth it. Would take again pretty cool guy
Dr. Livingston was an amazing teacher. His lectures are engaging and his passion for history evident. Due to Covid and moving online, the textbook was a requirement but shouldn't be normally. His lectures cover everything you will need to know. Only outside work is studying for quizzes/tests and in class essays. Extra credit is offered and easy.
If you follow his study guides and do the reading, it's an easy A. Plus he's super into History and it makes it exciting to learn about! (I'm taking the online course)
If you want an easygoing professor, take him. All you have to do is get the book he assigns to help you further with the study guides. His tests are not even hard. The essays, he will specify how he wants the essay written as. You will not regret this class, trust me when I say this. Take him.
Professor Livingston is a great teacher. I took his HIST1301 class online due to COVID. You can tell he has a real passion for history. Lots of reading, you really have to read the chapters in order to pass the test. 2 essays, very specific, but if you read and look at the chapter notes, he explains exactly what he is expecting.
Professor Livingston is a wonderful instructor! Great feedback, fast grading, and clear instruction. You will be hard pressed to find a better history teacher!
I love professor Livingston, he makes his class exciting to learn about history. Syllabus is straightforward and he gives feedback when grading the essays.
Professor Livingston is one of the best professors I've had. I hate history but he is so passionate and makes most of his lectures interesting. I took him for honors and helped a lot w research. His quizzes and tests are straightforward and from the study guide and lectures. Take him!
Professor Livingston is amazing! His class is fairly easy, lots of extra credit (including a fife lesson), fun lectures, quick to reply to emails, knows the students by name, etc. His tests/quizzes are easy since they come straight from the study guide. There is a textbook that I recommend, but not mandatory for an in-person class. Take Livingston!
Best decision I have made in LoneStar was taking this class. Mr. Livingston is so passionate about history that it makes the students want to learn. He literally tells you what to expect on the quizzes/tests on the study guides. If you make sure you complete the study guides and go to class, you should get an A easily. There is also extra credit.
Livingston is a great professor. He has lots of tests that you have to really study for. He is very knowledgable in his studies though. Livingston is great!
Mr. Livingston has to be one of my favorite teachers! He cares for he's students. Although he talks quite a lot, He makes his lessons very entice to make history interesting.
Pretty tough for a 1301 class. There are 6 grades (3 tests and 3 quizzes) and that's it. There is not much extra credit so if you do badly on one test or quizzes you might struggle for the rest of the class. Be prepared to spend A LOT of time studying for the tests and quizzes.
he is an amazing professor and makes history fun. gives great lectures. study the study guide and fill in notes. i didn't get the textbook and was fine
Professor Livingston was by far the highlight of my time at Lone Star. His lectures are incredibly interesting and fun. In addition, he has various personal stories about history that he ties into his lectures. Most of the test and quiz answers come directly from the study guide which is incredibly helpful.
Took Prof Livingston for both 1301&1302. Lectures are in depth versions of the notes which match tests perfectly. Got a B because I didn't feel like studying a bunch but an A is possible if you work for it. Textbook helps fill out the notes but he says the answers in class. GREAT GUY super passionate. 3 tests+2 quizzes+2 essays+Extra Credit
He is obviously extremely passionate about teaching history. Your grades are focused on tests that go along with the study guide, but be prepared to overly read between the lines and make vague inferences to get your answers - his own study guide doesn't match up with the text and his lectures go in depth about unnecessary details.
Professor Livingston is not only passionate about history, but as a teacher he wants you to do well! He uses study guides with blanks you fill in from both the online textbook and lectures. Sometimes he gets off topic during lectures, but he always gets those blanks filled! He has 4-5 ways of earning extra credit which can really help with a grade!
I'll keep it short and simple: If you make sure you go to class, complete the study guides, and do the extra credit, Prof. Livingston will be the best teacher you would have ever had.
Couldnt ask for a better professor as long as you take notes and attend class youll ace this class. His lectures arent those usual bored monotonous readings some professors usually give out.
Took his 1301 class over 6 week summer session, and kept a high A the whole time. He gives you a study guide to fill out during lectures and pulls from that for quiz and test questions. Gives multiple extra credit opportunity and does jeopardy style reviews with extra credit points before each test. Tests and quizzes multiple choice except 2 essays
Although he provides a study guide, his lectures are all over the place. He is passionate about what he teaches but I feel like he just rambled to much on unnecessary topics. The study guide and lectures are completely different and gives random blanks to fill in then starts over. Please trust me, he is super hard to follow along and be prepared.
AMAZING!! Take this professor for history. Genuinely cares for students & he gives extra credit.
I would take him for all my history classes if I could! He is passionate about what he teaches and it shows. He gives lots of extra credit, and the test questions are directly off of the study guide. During lectures you fill the blanks on the packet he gives you, so its easy to follow along. He grades hard on essays though.
A very straightforward class, just show up to class, pay attention and just fill out most if not all of the blanks on the study guide, do research for the short essay prompt at the end of every test and you're golden. You're also given several extra credit opportunities so it's fool-proof, just do the bare minimum. It's just 3 quizzes and 3 tests.
If I could give him a 0, I would but I can only give him a 1 :) I never had any sort of anxiety, yet I experienced panic attacks during EVERY test/quiz we took in this class. Grades consist of 3 quizzes, 3 tests, 2 essays, and a side of mental health issues. I honestly wished to die during the tests, just so I wouldn't have to complete them.
"It is so bad I wanna give you a zero but that's not possible so I give you a 1" Mr. Livingston's class consists of 3 tests including 50 q final, 3 quizzes, and 2 essays. The course load works in your favor or in your demise, many people struggled in this class, including me. It was so bad I considered dropping. If you must seek a psychiatrist.
Mr. Livingston is freaking awesome. All he required of us was to fill out his study guides for each quiz and exam and set aside time to study it. For the exams the essay questions are only six sentences long at most. That's literally it. On final exam day, he even gave us his personal contact info if we ever needed a reference for job applications.
He is such a great professor! Literally full of good vibes. As long as you complete the review guides handed out by him, and study from that you'll do great. Literally everything is set for you to have good grades, you just need to study and put some time into it.
MY FAVORITE PROFESSOR I HAVE EVER HAD!! He truly is the best professor at Lone Star. I took him for 1301 and currently taking him for 1302. I received a 100 for 1301, and I now have a 103 in his class. His tests are the easiest tests I have ever taken, questions are straight from the study guide. Truly a great teacher and cares about his students!!
I had Professor Linvingston for 1301 and loved him, so I took him again for 1302. He gives you a study guide that you mostly fill in during lectures. Attendance is not graded, but there are parts of the tests which you will ONLY get during the lecture. Lots of opportunities for extra credit. Quizzes and tests are multiple choice with 2 essays.
Professor Livingston is a phenomenal instructor. He cares about his students and the subject. He stays on subject and schedule. The grading criteria for the class is crystal clear. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Lone Star is lucky to have him.
Very straight-forward, he gives you a study guide, you listen to his lecture, and then you fill in the blanks on the study guide. I always turned the study guides into Quizlets and it made the class a lot more easy to study for. Only part I struggled with were the essays, which he is a tough grader on. Overall, one of the best professors I've had.
Amazing and passionate professor. Listening to his lectures you can tell he really loves his job. Three tests and three quizzes with everything on them being from the study guides you fill out in class. As long as you study enough the class will go by like a breeze. Highly recommend professor Livingston, always looked forward to his lectures.
Professor Livingston is really nice and you can tell he cares for history, but if you can't handle lectures I wouldn't recommend this class. The tests were easy but ONLY if you studied. Our reviews are the notes so make sure you attend class or get notes from someone. I would recommend the textbook only if you want to work ahead.
This professor offers SO much extra credit. Participate, because it will help your grade a ton. His class is based off study packets so try not to miss any lectures, but before tests, he'll go back through it and fill in anything you miss. Overall this class is a very easy A and the professor clearly cares for his students.
I took his summer class and he has so much personality to his course. He allows for a lot of extra credit as well as an amazing and in depth lecture on American History. I loved how much passion he had for everything and overall how much it feels like he enjoys teaching it.
Professor Livingston is a very good professor. his lectures can be long but filling in the study guides should be no problem. His tests and essays are very easy if you study the study guide and there are multiple opportunities to receive extra credit, there's no excuse to fail his class.
If I could give a 10, I would. Mr. Livingston was one of the best professors I ever had. His lectures are entertaining, but fun. They mainly consist of following along and filling out blanks on study sheets he prints for you. Lots of extra credit opportunities, a relatively easy B minimum.
I'm just gonna be real. He's a bad teacher. He talks so much, but I never learned anything in this class. The essays are just memorizing his essays and the tests are memorizing material that connects nowhere to what he says. This is one of these classes where you remember the material for 1 minute and forget it the next. 10/10 would not recommend.
I do agree with the fact that he tends to go off topic, but that is the only negative thing that I have towards him. realistically you don't even need to study to terribly much unless you are a slow learner, as long as you are paying attention in class and filling out the study guide you will get a good grade.
I did not like this class, I did not like this professor, and I did not learn anything. Professor Livingston goes on and on about random stuff that won't be on the tests. Never finished the required material. He actually forgot about an entire CHAPTER for our test. To pass this class you will have to teach yourself ALL the material. Good luck
I would highly recommend not taking this class. Do not be deceived by the good reviews here. He knows a lot about the topic and is very passionate about history, but is a terrible teacher and does not work well with students. People like him because of his unique personality, but his lectures are long, pointless, and extremely hard to understand.
Professor Livingston class is not worth the money! His study guides don't match up within the Power Point. If you don't get to finish the study guides in class then good luck because it will very hard to catch up. When you are behind in class he does not help you. If you struggle with the class. He says just the retry next semester.
Best professor I have had in college so far. Enjoyed his lectures and was very easy to understand. His lectures kept my attention and kept me engaged the entire time. Highly recommend taking this course.
Craig is one of the best professors I ever have, and would take this class again if I could. He has an easy and great way of teaching which led me to ending up with a great grade. He's also passionate, one of the most passionate teachers I've ever had and really loves what he does.
I took him twice. His lectures are SUPER boring and he goes offtopic BUT he gives you a study guide to fill in answers that HE gives you, and the test questions are STRAIGHT from the study guide. as long as you don't mind sitting through his lecture, your gonna do great! he also offers many extra credit opportunities and does fun activities.
amazing professor would take him again the class consist of 3 test and 3 quizzes, 1 essay over a book, and a discussion over that book. You get a fill in the blank study guide that will be used to help for the test, quiz so make sure you pay attention his study guides match the test, quiz it's a very easy class he is very passionate about history.
Professor Livingston is a good professor. He loves to talk and tell stories about his life, which can sometimes cut into much needed class time. He gives a study guide he lectures on during class and is just like the test. But, if he does not finish the study guide before the test then it is up to you to finish it a few days before the test.
I took Professor Livingston for both 1301 and 1302. He is a great professor but you need to make sure you finish the study guide because that is just like what will be on the test. Make sure you do or go to any extra credit assignments if you can make it. He can be a bit of a tough grader on essays, but they typically aren't worth that many points.
There are only 3 quizzes, 3 tests, 1 essay about one small book, and lots of extra credit!!!! He is very passionate about his teachings. I will retake him for 1302. He is well organized and tells you everything expected on the first-day packet.
Liked his enthusiasm for history and his lectures are very entertaining. 3 tests, 3 quizzes and one essay- the essay can get tricky but ask him anything and he will clear it up for you. Fill in the blanks notes that are easy, if you need help he will help you out with it. Gives loads of extra credit that one should definitely take advantage of!
He is the best history teacher ever. He is very passionate about history. His lectures are long but very informative. If you go to class and study the study guide, you will do great in this class. He is very caring and will do anything to help you. I highly suggest this taking his class.
Not sure why it states level difficulty at 3. This is an easy class, and he is organized with the syllabus. Straight forward to what he grades and offers extra credit. He is very passionate about his lecture which make its interesting. I highly recommend him.
Prof. Livingston is my favorite professor I've had so far. He's very passionate and knowledgeable about the subject, which makes lectures very interesting. He provides fill-in-the-blank study guides and lots of extra credit chances. Homework is little to none. As long as you pay attention during lectures, it's an easy class with a great professor.
Professor Livingston is an amazing professor, and if you are considering taking his class, do it! Not only were his classes informational and the information easy to understand, he is also a very kind and understanding professor. It is definitely worth the morning class, and I would absolutely take his class again.
Professor Livingstons class is very easy to pass as long as you go to lectures and fill out and study the study guide. He gives many extra credit opportunities throughout the semester. He is also very nice and answers questions in class and is easy to get a hold of outside of class.
Professor Livingston is a great and caring professor. As long as you fill out the entire study guide he gives you for each quiz, text, and the final, you will pass with an A. He doesn't leave out any information for tests and if you miss anything on your study guide he's happy to help you fill it out. He provided lots of extra credit opportunities!
He is just amazing, totally recommend.
Professor Livingston is literally the best professor, he teaches well and you can tell that he enjoys teaching. I loved this class, I enjoyed it so much (this is coming from someone who really does not enjoy history).
you can tell he's really passionate about history. He's kind of all over the place, but he teaches well and gives a ton of extra credit. attendance doesn't matter to him, but you need to show up every day if you want to do good on the quizzes and tests.
I took him for both 1301 and 1302 back to back, we met once a week on Tuesdays from 5-7:50. Despite the long classes, he is great at keeping the lectures engaging and interesting. Livingston has a contagious passion for his work. I would take him again without a doubt. He also provides a plethora of easy extra credit, outlined in the syllabus.
Overall great, but sometimes the tests were not just about the blanks, they were about the whole paragraph. Keep up with the storyline, offers tons of extra credit opportunities though and is very understanding.
Professor Livingston gives amazing lectures, and his class is easy as long as you study for the tests.
Fantastic professor! He's always willing to clear things up and explains things very well. He is very passionate about history and it shows through his teachings. Wish I could learn history all over again with this man!
Professor Livingston's HIST1302 class is fairly straightforward - just stay on top of the study guides and you'll do well. Unstuck ai was a huge help for me to prepare for the exams. The lectures are engaging, and the textbook is worth the read.
professor Livingston is a hilarious down to earth guy and he treats every single one of his students with respect I've taken both his 1301, and his 1302 courses and he lives up to his reputation of being the best professor at lone star he provides you with the study guides and makes the class fun getting the text book helps but isn't required.
Do yourself a favor and take this class. Best professor I have ever had in college.
Craig Livingston is the truth! He's super passionate about what he teaches and even hooks you up with extra credit opportunities. It's all lecture no time for small talk but he keeps it real and energetic, so you stay engaged. The tests? Straight from the notes. You'll actually learn in his class, no doubt. Would definitely recommend!
You have to go to class because all the answers to the study guide questions are given throughout the lecture. Attendance is not mandatory in the sense that it's part of the grade, but more in the sense that if you don't you will get behind on the material. Professor Livingston is very easygoing and easy to approach.
Talks constantly. Keeps talking. Has some interesting views and talks about very irrelevant things for too long. The class is very easy - he gives you a fill-in-the-blank study guide and reuses it year after year. But the whole class is him talking. That said, plenty of extra credit and you'll do well if you study. Beware all grades are from tests.
By far my favorite professor I've ever had. Lectures were super entertaining. He's very charismatic and offers a ton of extra credit. He provides a fill-in-the-blank study guide that makes studying super easy and convenient. I took him for both 1301 and 1302 and got a A in both courses. Definitely recommend!
This is the only time I have written a review about a professor and the only time I see myself doing it. You can tell this man is very passionate about what he teaches, which is a quality you should seek in someone teaching a class. It is a very easy course with his full in the blank notes and minimal tests/quizzes.
Prof. Livingston's lectures are super interesting. While he can talk a lot about his personal life, he makes history very exciting. We had 2 exams, a 1-page essay, 3 quizzes, and a final exam. Exams are generally ~40 questions the quizzes 12. Lectures are mandatory since they answer the study guide Prof. Livingston gives us. Tons of extra credit!!
Ignore any of the bad comments! This teacher is the best! He gives a lot of extra credit points. His lectures are super interesting, he shares a lot about his personal life, and how many cool people he as met or is related to. His tests are also word for word his study guide. You can also pass his class without the book so you don't need it.
Strongly recommend! Uses study guides that you just need to pre-fill, and tests and quizzes are word for word from the guides. I loved him. He was very caring, knew all his students by name, and was really passionate about history. Loads of extra credit, and do it because those points come in handy during tests and quizzes.Overall, amazing professor
I have taken Dr. Livingston's classes for HIST 1301 and 1302, and his most recent Napoleon class. I have received an A+ in every class. He is clear with the syllabus and gives extra credit that turns into a fun activity. You attend lectures where you fill out a study guide, and the test follows the guide word for word.
I had him for 1301 and plan to have him for 1302. He has fill-in-the-blank notes, and as long as you make flashcards from those, you are guaranteed to pass the test and quizzes. His lectures are very engaging and not boring. He has a lot of opportunities for extra credit. There is a book, but you can find it online; no need to purchase!
Dr. Livingston is one of the best professors at lonestar. His lectures are very entertaining and you can tell that he has a passion for what he teaches. There are a ton of extra credit opportunities if you want to get your grade up, but it's relatively easy to pass his exams even if you just skim over his study guides. There is almost no homework.
Please take him! He is very passionate about what he teaches. He tried to make the class more exciting by creating extra credit opportunities. I am very picky about rating professors, but he deserves the nice rating. He is the epitome of "love what you do and do what you love." I will have him in the Fall semester for HIST 1302
Prof Livingston is the animated definition of a "bells and whistles" experience. His class is like going to the museum of history. I took his summer class and got an A. Though we had a textbook; it was never used. He uses powerpoint and provides outlines for his tests which were great. He also does movie night with food and beverages. Great Class
Livingston is by far the best professor I have had yet! As someone with adhd his classes are a bit harder but i did learn to manage. The work is super easy, literally a study guide! he has many EC opportunities and will answer your email in 30 minutes. He's seen my struggles in his class and helped me bring my grade up with accommodations!
Livingston is a great professor and is very fun to listen to. His lectures are engaging and encouraging. The class is incredibly easy, and lots of extra credit is available. The test is literally like a few things off the study guide. However, if you're looking for an unbiased professor, this isn't the class for you.
Professor Livingston was awesome! he was funny, and he answered the questions i had with no judgement, even over explained sometimes. He gives a TON of EC and it gives you many opportunities to bump up your grade. We had 3 quizzes and 3 tests. Make sure you read your study guide!!! it really helps !
His classes are so easy, it's literally just fill in the blank notes and it's an exact copy of it onto the tests, plus you can find most of the notes online anyways, he's definitely one of the better professors at lonestar as he loves to tell us story's of his experiences. There's a lot of extra credit and you really don't need the textbook at all.
Loved his class. He teaches with so much passion and is one of the few professors at Lone Star who truly enjoys what he does. The class is lecture-based with a fill-in-the-blank packet, and quizzes and exams are exact copies of it. He offers lots of extra credit and uses fun code names for grades.
