Craig Van Boskirk's course consisted of lecture and 3 tests. Lecture and study guide notes were provided online. This guy is very knowledgeable, humorous, and intersted in your education. I would highly recommend taking him.

Craig is a very helpful teacher as far as his interest in the success of his students goes. He is a fairly lively lecturer. He makes the concepts easy to understand, although his one drawback is that his tests are quite difficult for multiple choice exams

I thought Dr.Vanboskirk was wonderful. By the ways, if you stick in his class long enough he does provide extra credit. I guess some people just quit before they try!

His teaching style is very insightful and energetic. He is very knowledgable of the subject matter and enjoys presenting it. One of the best teachers I have ever had.

Boskirk is a great teacher. He's excited about teaching, so it makes you excited to learn. Tests are hard if you dont study, but hes always alavliable to help students during office hours. Cute in a Science Nerd kinda way. Would recommend!

I really enjoyed his class, he covers really what needs to be learned in an 8 week period. Go to every class & pay attention he explains the material very well. He is also very humorus in his own way & I too think the diatom car freshener is a great idea.

All your notes are already done for you - just follow along and highlight the important stuff. Very interesting teacher. Keeps things fun. First two weeks aren't that great (you memorize rocks), but after that things are easy. No need for a book for the class, but you need one for the lab.

With effort, the lowest you can make is a B. The final is tough, but the other work is pretty straight forward.

Excellent professor! Passionate, witty, and extremely knowledgeable about the material. Tests are easy if you come to class and print out the study guides. Don't waste $50 on the book for lecture, you won't need it (but will for Lab). TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. He could make anything interesting!!

This guy is great. Class was long but bearable because of him. He's funny and is so into the stuff he teaches that it's contagious. You can't help but be interested when he's speaking. Great teacher and pretty straightforward tests. Tests are based off his powerpoints so go to class.

Easy class. Very helpful. Does not require participation in discussions online. Tip: Read through the chapters and take notes. I put page numbers in the margin by important info. Books and notes allowed on tests. USE THEM! Also, it is helpful to use the Geode cd that comes with the book, but not required. I learned so much in this class!

Took him online. Very helpful and understanding. He wants you to get a good grade! Took him as an 8 week, not a good idea. Unless you are serious about reading all the chapters & study all his notes, you might want to take him as a 16 week or on campus. Great teacher, just had to work really really really hard to get a B.

Online....your grade is 4 open-book tests, 4 quizzes, and 10 discussion board posts. The test are very hard. I had to read all the chapters, highlight items, and make a list of what was found in each chapter, so the open-book part would help. I barely made a B. It is very possible to pass this class, but you have to prepare for the tests.

I hate science but this teacher can make ANYTHING interesting. He teaches straight from notes so book isn't really necesary. I love this guy!! 3 fairly east tests!! No homework!!! He gives like three extra credit that really helps!! Best teacher I have ever had. and by the way, he loves diatoms!!!

I took the 8 week. A lot of information for an eight week class, but very managable if you actually pay attention in class and study the material at home. Very exciting and at times, funny teacher. He is very helpful with whatever you need. Very passionate about his work. Also, do not buy a book for this class. All the lecture are powerpoint.

This was a good professor. Alot of people complained about the test and quizzes were hard but it came right out of the text book. He didnt give any assignments which makes the class even harder for taking test so I did question review at end of chapters and that really helped. He is helpful if your in armed forces and out to sea.

I took this class online. I transferred from another college and can honestly say this was the hardest class I've ever had. I felt his quiz/test questions were tricky and some I couldn't find in the book (open book). On the positive, I learned alot and he was good at getting back when I had questions. However, I would not take his class again.

This is one easy class. He gives three tests and three extra credit assignments. The tests are multiple choice and easy if you pay attention to what he emphasizes in class.

I took his online course, and even though there are only four tests and four quizzes, I found the test challenging to say the least. As someone who usually does well on tests, especially open book tests, I found his tests very hard. Most of the tests cover 4 chapters, with one covering 6. One of the few courses I only made a B in.

Read all of the relevant chapters prior to the tests and quizes. I hate science yet I managed to get an A by reading the material even though all tests and quizes are open book.

I took the online 8-week course over the summer. He does very little except remind you when the tests are. Only grades are 4 quizzes and 4 tests, and come straight from the book. You have to be dedicated and studious to take this course. I did well, but others in my class did not

ok. so when i saw the chili pepper, i figured his wife put it there. he really is "hot". as for teaching, very laid back and you work at your own pace. i did this online you can basically fininsh when you are ready. AWESOME PROFESSOR!!

He's awesome and understanding and responds quickly to questions and e-mails! I definitely recommend his hybrid course! Grade is based on 7 book assignments of 20 questions each and 5 quizzes that are online and open note/ open book! And you get to re-take them three times, he will count only the highest score!

Dr. Van Boskirk is one of the best professor I had at FCCJ. He gives 5 tests, drops the lowest one, and a paper. He doesn't check attendance, but his test questions come from his lectures and powerpoints. He is availible during office hours you can get extra help or just sit and chat! Dont expect to chat about fluffy sea otters in OCE.

Took Earth and Space Science and the lab with him. Awesome...to say the least! I wasn't even interested in taking this class, but had to choose something for my degree. I learned so much had actually had fun. Go to class, take notes, and listen and you will make an A!!

He's a great teacher. very streight-forward. If you need help, he will help you. Jsut don't wait until the last minute. As long as you come to class, listen to the lectures and take notes, you'll pass.

Online Course-no discussion board, only take quiz and test. Offers no extra credit and soley grades on quiz & test grade. They are given a/b once a month so this is great for someone who has little time. Tests are worded a little rough. Teacher is NOT involved @ all in this class.

There are tests and quizes, nothing else. They are open book, but do not take them lightly. READ the assigned chapters and you should do well. The textbook is more than important.

Class is not an easy "A" you just barely receive a "C" in this class. The tests and quizes are completely ludacris to say the least. Not a simple look up and the find the answers in the book. You will need to utilize google and yahoo search engines for this class. Their no research paper to be written this class. Just quizes and tests. Beware!!!!

His open book test are not easy, but if you listen to his lectures and take notes you will not have a problem. A plus to the class is no final exam.

Professor Van Boskirk is very cut and dry, 1 quiz, 1 test and 1 extra credit a week...Take the extra credit, test are 50 questions each and can be kind of difficult. Overall, I would take him again!

I took his online class. This class was pretty clear 1 test, 1 quiz, and 1 extra credit a week. The test are pretty dificult but overall the class was pretty clear. I recommend this class. I received a B.

I took the hybrid class. He was easy to follow and really made sure we understood what we were learning. I actually almost fell asleep a few times and still earned a B. That should tell you something. I work FT and have a full coarse load so I made sure I brought coffee everyday. ;-)

Great professor! If you want to pass, he will help you pass! The Rock and Mineral test was SO super easy, he makes it easy to remember what is what! Easy A, he doesn't take attendance except on first two weeks. Two hour class lasts 15 minutes, after his lecture you can leave! Let's you do homework in class! AWESOME TEACHER!!!!!!

Okay, first of all Craig is HOT! Second, the class is awesome. Lecture everyday and test almost once a week. Weekly homework as well. Very easy class to pass and very nice professor. Did I mention he is hot. I can't wait for lab to start tomorrow. :)

Make sure of def showing up for the lectures. Test's are hard, but he allowed us to use notes. HW assignments are somewhat easy but do take alot of time to complete. He's a nice guy, straightforward and loves his science. He gives extra credit that certainly help ya out. I would reccomend him. I got a B in the class.

EASY EASY EASY Class. I took it online. You have three things to do every two weeks: A test (you can take three times), a quiz (you can take as many times as you need), and extra credit work...do it, just trust me. He was really great about responding to messages and had no problem correcting my grade when my answers were right and his were not.

ONLINE. Test,Quiz & Extra Credit. Do the extra credit. I made A and B, but with the E/C it made me get a total average of 103. It just takes time to look for the answers, other than that he responds well with emails and just be motivated to do your work =) Im taking him for LAB next sem.

ONLINE CLASS. This was one of the easiest online classes ever. Everything is laid out for you at the beginning of his course and he sticks to the schedule. You can take the test 3 times and quizzes as many time that you need to. This is an easy A class. I would take him again for another class but doesn't have one online.

Straight to the point. Easy A. Clear on his work. Emails back quickly.

One of the best professors that I have ever had,because he breaks the complex information down into simple bits of information that anyone can understand. This is the 3rd course I have taken with him,and will take one more before I get my degree.Whenever a student wants a recommendation for an outstanding science professor,I always recommend him.

I took a hybrid class and it was an easy grade. Only really used my books on tests because he went over everything in class on powerpoint. Which he posts online before class so you can print it out!!! He's extremely helpful & makes sure you understand Take his ESC 1000L as well, it was amazing!!! :)

I took his online Earth Space class. It was the easiest class I have ever taken. 6 tests, 6 quizzes, 6 extra credits. Everything open book. I also took his lab which wasn't as easy. It takes a little bit more work. It has 2 test (One is the rock and mineral test and the other is a written test). But he teaches for about 10 min then lets you do HW

8wk online - HOLY CROW! Be prepared to READ READ READ! All open book - his mercy is that he lets you retake tests and keep the best score - finish in 6 wks instead of 8 - CRAMMED course! Buy the book and highlight the heck out of it. Extra credit opportunities. Discovery Channel addicts will do well if they read. Slackers beware!

He goes over a Powerpoint each class, and you can print it offline as well. Explains things in a simple way so everyone can understand. You can tell he enjoys teaching this course.

If you are interested in learning, and willing to put forth a moderate amount of work, I would highly recommend this class and this professor. If you don't really care about your education and are looking for a class to slide through with minimal effort, don't bother.

Taking his biology class now and I've already signed up for his Earth/Space sci class next semester. It's a great class, but you have to show up (mandatory attendance) and actually put forth a little effort. Like any class, it's an "easy A" if you don't slack and actually do what you're supposed to. I'll take his classes whenever possible!

Online. Easiest class I've ever taken. Had absolutely no interaction with the Professor because it wasn't needed. Everything is simple and straightforward. Didn't even feel like a college course.

Hybrid class. Best classroom experience I have had since starting uni. Clear & organized lectures (with easy to follow notes) from a guy that obviously loves the topic were the main part of the course. The online exercises were perfect prep for the exams. I always knew what was work was expected of me & when I was supposed to turn it in-Love that!

He was such a good teacher to have, I enjoyed the class but it was a lot of work.

Moderate amount of homework; make sure you do it all. Show up to class and stay the entire time. Great guy, excellent teaching skills, great listener and answers questions timely. I learned a lot in this class. **Make sure you have the access code to Mastering Geology; if you rent the book or buy it online, the access may not be included.

This is a man with a natural talent for clear explanations of rather complex subject matters. He keeps his lectures interesting and lively, and peppers them with references that are easy to relate to. He'll take the time to explain things and answer questions if you come to him during his office hours. Classroom policies are fair and flexible.

EASIEST class ever!!! Take it online!!! You'll pass with nothing less than an "A+" No interaction needed at all! 5 tests, 5 quizzes, 5 extra credit opportunities. And you have 3 weeks to complete each test. Easiest thing ever...literally!!! Do not take anywhere else than online or you'll be wasting gas and time!! Awesome professor too!! Engages in conversation and offers his help all the time, but I literally have not needed help once, it's that easy!!!

He is an amazing teacher!! He's very nice and funny and likes to get his class involved, as any teacher should. He always connects the lecture with real life analogies. His analogies saved me on more than one test question! His quizzes are online, multiple retries and you can bring cheat sheets for the test. It's impossible not to pass this class!

He is an AWESOME teacher. My BSC1105 class consisted of 4 separate tests (each test on a couple chapters) and quizzes on each chapter were due the night before each test. That's it! His lectures are long, but clear and he let our class bring a paper with whatever we wanted to the tests. He is helpful and you learn A LOT about science!

I literally had 0 interest in science before this, but this man was the BEST science teacher I have ever had. He makes the class so interesting and you can tell he really likes his job. And as an added bonus, he lets you bring a "cheat sheet" to every test. I would totally recommend him.

Outstanding professor and human being. This was a great departure from the science norms (biology, chemistry and the like). This was a difficult course on test day, but with study dedication and being present in the classroom, you will learn alot about the oceans and their influence on the world as a whole. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

Professor Boskirk is AWESOME!! I took him for ESC1000, and finished his course 4 weeks early. He uses the MasteringGeology, and tests for each chapter. That's it, no DB! I took his 6 week BSC1000 class for Summer 2014 semester, and finished it in 6 days! No proctors either! Easy tests! Take him, you will not regret it!!

Prof. Van Boskirk is very thorough in his lectures. They are very interesting and he is clear and his passionate when talking about science, the universe, weather, volcanoes or whatever the subject matter. A great professor take him, you will not be sorry.

Van Boskirk is very knowledgeable and easily breaks down the hardest material to where it is easy to understand. I have taken him for all of my science courses and labs. I do not think I could have passed without him. He is inspirational and teaches about real world scenarios that are easily to relate to. Syllabus is easy to follow. Finals are easy

Best professor for ESC 1000 ONLINE!

By far the best for BSC 1005 ONLINE.

I finished the class in 5 days. There is a TON of homework (150 questions a chapter) but it's not hard at all. Test questions are based of homework. The answers are basically on the screen - I barely cracked my book.

I took his 8 week hybrid ESC1000 class. Every week: An online test, class, & online assignment. For the online assignment it does takes like 5 hours if you really do it but if you google it theres all the answers, easy A. Online quizzes answers online, easy A. Lectures are interesting. Got a 78 on final by guessing, 97 in the class, TAKE IT!

By far the best professor at FSCJ. Take him if you have the option. He's really nice and cares about his students. His class is also very easy. All assignments and tests were online (except the final). I got an A on every assignment and test and did relatively bad on the final but still ended u with an A. 100% recommend.

I have no complaints about Craig, however... I would NOT recommend that you take this class online. It is dense and the work load is heavy. This was the single worst online class I have ever taken and from speaking with other students who did this online with other teachers it seems that if you must take it online he is your best bet.

Easy class but fun. Attendance not mandatory but I don't think you would pass if you don't show up. 2 tests @100 pts ea. and 6 assignments @ 50 each for a total of 350 points. Little to no homework. Will work with you if you don't understand. Nice guy with a sense of humor.

I couldn't think of a more ideal professor. Remarkable energy, enthusiasm, and ability to explain clearly. I looked forward to this class every week. He shows great empathy for his students but is no sucker, so don't take advantage of this gem. Deserves all of the chili peppers.

I was Initially stressed with anxiety of the thought of going back to school at the age of 48. This was an enlighten experience, average reading, average homework, but some may think its a lot of homework but you have a week to complete each model. The models have 1 discussion topic, 70 question homework and a quiz. The Professor is AWESOME!!

Mr. Boskirk is a real professor who cares about his students is relateable and is very good a explaining topics. 10/10 for sure.

Overall, he's a good professor. Everything is opened from day one and all you have to do are discussions, homework assignments, and the quizzes. The work load is alot, but everything is available on quizlet. Finished the class a month early.

Amazing Professor? You can tell that he genuinely loves what he teaches and the way he lectures makes the class entertaining and informative at the same time. He offers extra credit and is very understanding. I would definitely take a class with him again. The online homework is a lot, but doable as long as you stay on track.

The professor gave clear expectations for the class. We were expected to complete the lab as well as textbook assignments. The textbook is needed. Pearson plus has a low monthly subscription fee and includes the textbook required. I'd take another class with this professor.

He's a good Professor overall. I took all online, no lectures. He responds quick to messages and is helpful and accommodating if you have any issues.. the workload is a bit heavy and the textbook is required for ESC1000L.

Professor Boskirk was great. The assignments were practical and easy to learn and do. A discussion here and there, textbook assignments, and pearson labs. Be sure to read the syllabus very carefully and also read the module instructions throughly too. Overall, if you put in the work you will pass.

The class is not too difficult if you put in the work each week. There were 5 online assignments and quizzes. The final was not difficult if you did the work and took good notes. You also get points when showing up for class.

This class is absolutely amazing. He is very fun and has great ways of connecting with us students. Not only will be break down the information into easy to understand topics but he will also keep bringing up key points to help you remember. Assignments and tests are very straightforward and super simple as well as a lot of time to complete them.

I had the pleasure of taking both Biology and EarthSpace with Professor Craig, and his enthusiasm and passion for teaching made both courses truly enjoyable. He explains concepts clearly and engages with the class in a way that makes time fly. His energy, clarity, and genuine commitment to student learning made a huge difference in my experience.

This class was an easy A. As long as you read your textbook and watch the videos, the mastering geology assignments and canvas quizzes are very easy to pass! They are worth a lot of points and the prof doesn't accept late assignments, so don't miss any due dates! He doesn't grade tough on discussion posts at all. Perfect class for a GPA booster.
