Then I cracked down and because of the final replacement I actually managed to get an A but I really thought I wasn't gonna pass for a minute there... don't do what I did. Try hard from the start!

Hands down the best chem professor on campus. I had feldwinn my first two chem classes and then got joseph for chem 1c. He made chemistry much easier, and so much more interesting. Chem 1A is a hard course, regardless of who you have. However, Joseph did a pretty good job teaching the difficult concepts in the easiest way possible. What sucks in this class is that each question in the three exams is weighted very heavily. If you miss 2/20 questions on a test, you're already at a B+. This has a big impact on your final grade.

However, Joseph tries his best to help students out and give them hints on how to do well on the upcoming midterm/final. That being said, the tests are very difficult, especially for students with no college level stem experience

Genuinely such a cool professor. Chem will always be hard but Joseph tried his best to teach everyone. If you need help, he is always available. I loved his chem 1A calendar to get things done, super helpful! The practice exams were kinda like the actual exams but please look into the concept and take your time to learn it because you can get lost.

Dr. Joseph was great. Everything in lecture was explained very clearly, and his office hours were really helpful for clarifying material. Do all the book problems (very important for success in the class), practice tests (timed!), and textbook readings and you should be fine. Midterms are a time crunch but the final wasn't which was nice.

I already knew all the class content from previous experience, but Dr. Joseph's lectures were nonetheless very good review and very thorough, and he's funny too :) When the class got lower than expected scores on a midterm, Dr. Joseph greeted the class with compassion and hefty extra-credit assignments for all. Final was challenging, but not crazy.

I feel like the people who liked him are those who took AP chem in high school. If you didn't like me, avoid his class unless you really have to take it. I recommend taking Price in Spring, he's so much better! You would need to take summer classes to catch up on the chem series, but it's worth it! If you do, get Fitzgerald as your TA, she's great!

The lectures are very informational and tackle the fundamentals of chemistry, but do not prepare you for the test. Book problems are essential to getting good grades on the tests.

Joseph is one of the best gen chem professors. Very clear lectures and great explanations. 1C is the easiest of the series and his tests are very similar to book problems and practice tests. HIghly recommend him for 1C and the gen chem series.

Good professor, definitely one of the best in the chemistry department for the gen chem series. I feel like the lectures didn't really go deep enough though on the material we were tested on, but it makes sense because there's SO MUCH to learn and it's not really related at all or linear. For that reason, do as many book problems as possible.

Really easy professor. Lecture slides and stuff he talks about sometimes don't line up and can be confusing. Wish he did more practice problems in class--book problems are much harder than what's covered in lecture. 2 midterms and final, all mcq. Cares a lot about students and chem.

This is a hard course, but I never felt cheated by a test question Joeseph gave. He gives u as many resources as he can for u to suceed: practice tests, book problems similar to the test and plenty of office hours. Joeseph makes this hard course as managable as he can. If taking gen chem I can't reccomend him enough

truly such a caring professor and he's such a giggly and fun guy to talk to. I took his class for two quarters of the gen chem series and his exams have all been relatively difficult, although word for word book problems. Lectures don't always go into depth and there's lot of content to know all at once, but he is really helpful if you reach out

Like any chem class, it is difficult and very time-consuming, but Joseph gives you all of the tools necessary to succeed. It is one of those classes where you get back what you put in. I did almost all book problems (~3/4 hours a week) and studied extensively for exams (~15 hrs each). Fun lecturer and hard, but fair class

Joseph's 1C was hardest in the gen chem series for me. I got A's in both 1A and 1B without doing any book problems, which is NOT an option for Joseph's classes. Follow his schedule of relevant book problems for each week, and really practice the ochem concepts (CLAS helpful for practice). Also, the actual tests do not look like the practice tests.

Personally Joseph was the best professor I had for gen chem. It is an inherently difficult course however his exam were always fair. The book problems, practice exams, and concepts in lecture were all reflected in the exams if you study right none of the problems were entirely out of nowhere (an issue with some of the other gen chem profs lol)

Joseph was my favorite professor among the chemistry professors I had. He does an excellent job explaining material in lecture and is great at answering questions. While chemistry itself is difficult, he really cares about his students and tries his best to explain the content thoroughly. He also provides a good study plan to stay on track.

Crisjoe is a diamond in the rough sands of the CHEM department. Best part of this course is listening to his beautiful voice in the mornings yelling, "Alright gentlepeople. It is ON the money". He's really good at teaching conceptual-based chapters, so he shines brightest during the 2nd half of class. He's so stellar I own a body pillow of him now.

He makes it super clear what you need to do to succeed, but chem1a is such a hard class in general. His test questions are taken straight from the textbook problems he puts on canvas as optional practice. His canvas is super organized and easy to follow. All lecture youtube videos and slides are on canvas as well.

Dr. Joseph is the best lecturer I had this year. He speaks very clearly in a way so that you understand the topic, and he tells you how to succeed. I did take AP Chem in high school, but doing all the practice problems (book problems, practice exams, discussion worksheets, etc) was more important as they were extremely similar to his exams.

Joseph is the best chemistry teacher I have ever had. I got a C on the final which dropped me to a B+ even after weeks of studying, but overall, I would say he is very passionate about what he does. The final does not reflect the midterms, so when he says he is going to mash them together, do not listen. Highly recommend and do the book problems!!!

Crisjoe Joseph is the goat. The class itself was mildly difficult, but mainly a lot of content to remember. He does an excellent job of explaining everything. The tests aren't too bad if you study well--do the homework and ALL of the book problems. The final is a little more difficult, but manageable if you do the book problems multiple times.
