One of my favorite professors! She is very clear about what she expects and grades fairly. Attendance is mandatory and she expects you to always be on time. Class is very interactive and always different; it isn't your typical 'lecture every day class.' Show her that you care about your grade and she will go above and beyond to help you succeed!
One of my favorite professors! She's very clear about what she wants and grades fairly. Attendance is mandatory and she expects you to always be on time. Class is very interactive and always different. If you give your all, ask for help, and show her that you care about your grade, she will go above and beyond to help you succeed!
Cares about her students and very outgoing. SUPER tough grader with lots of big assignments. Gives a lot of help though and also has a lot of modern references.
Professor Crystal Danley she is a tough Grader. I took her class this semester because I wanted to take African American Literature. there are four Writing Projects for this English-2367 Course and on the two Projects I got bad Grades. so I met with her several times in her office for her feedback she gives Good feedback but she is very hard.
Great teacher, always gave great feedback. Make sure to complete the practice journals, they are good practice and worth a whole letter grade. Make lots of edits on your writing projects, it will help increase your grade.
Super outgoing and super passionate. She wants to see you succeed and become a better writer. No midterm or final, just four papers with 10 journals throughout. Every point counts her class so don't slack off because you're a good writer. She's a tough grader. She truly cares about her student and genuinely cares. I recommend!
she is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo wonderful i love here to death she is the best she is very formal and serious about her students getting an education she wants everyone to be successful and do well if you want a teacher that cares about you and you education take her you will not regret it just be ready to earn your grade and be successful:-)
She is the best teacher I've ever had!! Soooo dedicated and fun. You end up loving her no matter what
I honestly believe that I couldn't have gotten a better professor. Shes on the next level; not CC material but more. There is no reason why you shouldn't build your writing skills in this class. She makes everything very clear and makes the most out of her time with you. If you are taking an English class, you cannot go wrong with Professor Danley.
This teacher was sooooo horrible. She wasn't clear at all. She was late every single class. I mean seriously you can't show up on time? She never graded things in a timely manner. She was a difficult grader. I DO NOT recommend this teacher at all. She was a waste of my money and I want a refund.
Love this teacher. I would recommend that everyone take this teacher. EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!
I'll be blunt, her class is nowhere near easy. It is very challenging, and deadlines are strict. I know I was incredibly stressed from the workload. However, that is just how the class is. Professor Danley, on the other hand, is an amazing professor and person. She will do everything to help you, and her class will help you grow as a person.
Take Prof. Danley if you like to honestly improve yourself as a writer. She is critical and honest, but offers plenty of time and opportunities to mop up your work before it goes to the chopping block. She will revise two draft before the final, in all of them she will point out things that could dock points. Great professor, great class
Prof. Danley is a great professor and person. You will have a heavy work load, and she is a tough grader, but you will definitely become a better writer and person when it's all said and done. We had 4 writing projects, and 2 presentations. No final or Midterm! Take her class she is a extremely fun, helpful and passionate about teaching
Difficult class. Prof Danely is there to help.
She is very helpful, gives good feedback, and really cares about students. Tough grader.
Prof Danley is a great professor and person. She's understanding that life gets in the way sometimes. I had a major issue on the day the written final was due, she was very understanding and gave me an extra day. She can be a tough grader, but you're sure to learn something as well. I'll probably be taker her again.
This teacher getting more credit than she deserve, she will not give you the grade you deserve, she kinda make you feel that she is cheated so forth she has to give you hard time. please dont take her all the people who wrote this good feedback are bias.
Mrs. Danley is one heck of a teacher. She is very intelligent and makes you work extremely hard to get a C. She is a SIBW and takes no crap. I truly became a better writer by taking her class, but it was by far the most work I've ever had to put in to get an A, let alone a C. There are four papers and you end up writing about 40 pages worth of work
Professor Danley is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Her class can be tough at times; you need to show up and participate in class in order to receive a good grade. She's a tough grader and expects a lot, but gives you two drafts, peer revision, and her own tips/suggestions before the due date. If you want to learn, take her course!
Brace yourself. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
Good god. This class was a ton of work--not an easy A. Great professor though.
I will start off by saying this class was a lot of work however if you are a great writer then its fairly easy. Just show up to class. Two quizzes and drops your lowest grade at the end of the semester. You constantly need your book!!! If you like to get close with your teachers then select her. Makes you learn!
Professor Danley is tough, but she tells you that right from the start and lays out expectations. She will help you, just ask. She challenges you to do your best. She is honest in her opinions and will not sugarcoat it. She helps you grow in your writing. She is a great professor.
Provides a detailed syllabus, and clear directions for all writing assignments. This is a composition class, so you should not be surprised to know that you will spend most of the semester writing papers (lots of opportunity for review, though). Never awards grade of 100% as believes there is always room to grow!
Overall very fair. The assignments are all reasonably straightforward. What you see is what you get: a professor that knows her stuff. You'll need to work for an A, but a B isn't too hard to get.
Doesn't explain why you did poorly.
Showing up to class is semi mandatory but if you miss a pop quiz forget it, no matter the reason she will not let you make up the points. Find an easier teacher to get your high school level english credits.
Do not take this class unless you want a rough time
Very relatable and eager to help you succeed. There are four big projects, and they are fairly difficult, but she gives you plenty of opportunities to get help from herself and other classmates. Generally a great teacher, great class.
Be prepared to work. But if you listen to what she tells you in terms of feedback you will become a better writer which will help in all of your classes, not just English classes. One of my absolute favorite professors at CSCC
I was not a good writer going into the class, but now I am very confident in my writing skills. She is pretty strict, no assignments accepted 10 minutes after class starts, and there's a lot of writing assignments. Despite that, the rigid structure of the class really helped me.
She's a great teacher, hilarious, but a tough grader. You definitely need to check your syllabus, if you don't turn in your proposals or your final project there will be no mercy. Overall she is a caring teacher who wants to push you to do better. Take this class if you want to improve, don't take this class for an easy A, because you won't get it.
Prof. Danley is incredibly kind and caring, but is a fairly tough grader. The assignments are usually straightforward, 4 big projects, but on the days to turn things in you must be there ON TIME or it will not be accepted. Good choice, but difficult in general, especially hard in the summer semester. You have to want to improve your writing.
She is extremely rude and unhelpful. I went to office hours multiple times and she still did not want to help me. I turned in all the assignments and still got a bad grade.
Not a caring professor. She is really unfair with your papers and likes to give you a grade you don't deserve and she tells you. Don't take if you don't want a bad grade from her.
Pro. Danley is very helpful and always available to help students in class as well as in her office. She recommends to see the best tutors that could help you in writing your essays; she knows most of the tutors at the cscc and knows exactly who the best tutor is. Although English is my second language this pro. helped me to improve my writing skil
Be prepared to increase your English skills. However, during the process you may receive a grade that you are not proud of. Ladies and gents this is not your turn it in and get an A teacher. The only thing that irks me about her is that she will show a student example and say it earned at least a C. That was terrifying. PS, it was an A I asked.
If you want an easy A class this isn't for you, this will quite frankly push you to be a wonderful writer. She is very tough and gives feedback but don't take it personally if you don't do well. Very few do, she is very caring and nice, and will help. This really pushed me to my limits as a writer and I feel much more confident in my writing skills
Professor Danley was an excellent instructor. Her teaching skills consisted of concise descriptions of the work/project requirements and also very comprehensive lectures explaining why engaging in your paper is detrimental! She was also very caring of everyone's place in her class and encouraged respectful discussions/debates between students.
I love she is hard and wants all to learn and do good things. I did all the assignments and fail. Instead of teachers telling students go to the writing center, they fail to understand give us a nice feedback instead of a vague one. How am I suppose to better my writings if the teacher never gives a clear explanation of what you truly lack?
Professor Danley is amazing, she really cares for her students!
she is an amazing professor, not an easy A class. Her papers require a lot of time and effort to be put into them, very caring and wants you to learn, her fav quote is " chase the knowledge, not the grade" At the beginning i thought i would fail this class but with enough time and effort I ended up doing great. btw no need for a book put effort in!
Very caring and concerned. Willing to work with you IF you show that you care and are trying. Made classes fun but stayed on track.
She is really caring and funny, I enjoyed her as a person a lot! There are a lot of papers assigned and she's a tough grader so you really have to put in the work to get a good grade. You will use the textbook and you should expect to do a lot of writing. Very accessible and approachable.
This class was a bit challenging. If you are not on top of your schedule and work you'll have a hard time. HOWEVER, this class WILL teach you that. She used the phrase "Chase the knowledge, not the grade." I applied that to this class and I am sure that I will apply that to every class the rest of my college career. Learning the right way!
Ms. Danley was very sweet. Her class is very different in terms of the final project brought about. There aren't too many classes with a different project that involves so much creativity like her class has. She was always available for help and to give me advice. And she made me smile all the time! VERYYYY great profesor!
While I didn't like professor Danley at the beginning of the semester I had her, in the end I truly believe she is a wonderful educator. Her papers will make you work for an A, but if you put in the effort you can achieve success. I ultimately feel like a better writer after taking her class. Highly recommend.
Danley is an amazing person, she truly cares about her students. She is a tough grader but always there to help her students succeed.
Prof. Danley is by far one of the best professors Ive had. She is the most caring, intelligent person I have ever met she will literally listen to your concerns about anything and will give you guidance on what you should do. Besides that class is about 4 papers and literally only quizzes in 1100 & 0199. 0199 is extra help with a more online hw
Prof. Danley is probably the best teacher I've had at CSCC. She makes a point to get to know each student as a person outside of class and you can tell she truly wants to connect with and help in any way she can. If you've ever taken an English class where you had to write essays her class will be easy, as long as you keep up with the deadlines.
Professor Danley was by far one of the best professors. She was very well respected and can easily become your best friend. She genuinely cares about her students lives. However, if you're looking for an easy grade, this is not the class for you. She really prepares you for more difficult professors in the future.
If your expecting help in this class, don't take her as a teacher! She doesn't respond to emails even tho she is supposed to in 48 hours. Takes min of 5 weeks to grade a paper (so you cant even drop the class in time) She is a super picky, a tough grader, all about format and details. Doesn't provide a syllabus with due dates from papers, DIY style
I took Prof. Danley's ENGL1100 over the summer as a CCP and due to COVID, it was online. All was fine and dandy up until the last two weeks when I explained to her that I was stressed out and my mental health wasn't great. She basically said, "sorry, not my problem." and then didn't grade my last 3 assignments causing me to fail her class.
Professor Danley seems a bit intimidating at first, however really is not at all. She is strict, but not mean. She has a lot of expectations and guidelines, but if you follow them, it will be fine. I had some small issues and she never took longer than a day to get back to me and assist me with them. Structured but so reasonable!
Professor Danley, is 100% by the book when it comes to grading. We did not have one lecture to discuss our writing projects, we simply just read the guidelines and went off. Every night before papers were due she would send passive aggressive emails with new last minute requirements.
Professor Danley is a tough grader. She probably rarely gives anyone an A. She can be very sarcastic and condescending at times. Do the work and follow instructions. You should pass the class!
Professor Danley is a professional and respectful teacher. I am bilingual and I did found her class kind of hard but it was very helpful for me and have a better understanding of this subject. I would definitely take this class again.
I took Professor Danley's class as Comp 2. However, you quickly learn that she would rather be a cultural studies professor and is stuck where she is at. Her lack of compassion is evident and will refuse to respond to emails in a timely manner. In fact you should not expect anything to be graded as she is a minimum of a month behind. Skip the class
Great teacher and fun to be around, she does expect a lot out of you but gives you all the tools to be able to succeed. I recommend her class if given the opportunity.
Prof. Danley is the best. You have 4 projects throughout the entire semester and each week she has you work towards doing your projects. Your projects basically become a copy and paste from the answers you give from your previous assignments. I had an issue where a DB post didn't go through and she allowed me to redo it for full credit. 10/10
When I took the class, her son had gotten into an accident and was severely hurt in the hospital. She took a lot of time out, and the class kinda fell apart.but, she worked with us, and i can tell she is a good professor because she came to class with a good attitude towards every1, she would always call me "sweet pea" very down to earth and sweet!
Professor Danley has been my favorite english professor at CSCC. I had initially taken this class online at a different school but had to retake it here and she made it go SO smoothly. As long as you can follow instructions and put the time into your work you will do fine; she will work with you throughout the semester as long as you put in effort.
Danley is listed with Dr. Clark according to my schedule. Never heard from or of Danley. It would be great if she would step in and teach for Dr. Clark because she does nothing except insult students. No fault of their own for not understanding her vague assignments and agressive rude emails when asked a question. Based on absence don't take.
Amazing professor! This was my first college-level class, had some nerves going into this class but those were gone after the first meeting. Prof Danley is one of the most caring teachers I've ever had. She genuinely cares about each student beyond classwork. Work load is not insanely heavy as long as you do it when it's assigned. Do prewriting!
Omg please do not Ever take this professor. She seems to be really nice but all she wants is to be very complex to people on what she wants for the writing projects. WORD MINIMUMS ARE MAXIMUMS! She does not say maximum. If you go over the limit you automatically fail. She makes me absolutely hate English as a fundamental study for humanities.
i love her class, she is such a great professor and she wants you to learn in her class if anything. She is respectful and real. would definitely take it again just make sure to study before a quiz!
Professor Danley is my favorite professor I've ever had. Her class is always interesting, it's hard to miss a class. She always offers clarification and is more than happy to help in any aspect. There's a good amount of work in her class, but it is to keep us on track and to be successful. I would recommend her to anyone!
Professor Danley is one of my favorite professors. She genuinely cares about her profession and her students. She can be tough but she will be sure to help you in any way possible. Be sure to not skip/miss any of her classes because you will be behind. Overall she's amazing and funny 100% recommend!
Professor Danley is a very caring professor. Even though i failed her class (due to my own issues) she was never rude or judgmental towards me or my situation. She is the best professor to take right out of highschool and i really enjoyed her class (i took comp1 and fundamentals). I would be more than happy to learn from her again
Professor Danley is by far one of the toughest graders I have had as a teacher. Diligently read her syllabus and rubric grading requirements and you should be okay. The class is structured so that the work you do throughout the week builds into your main projects. If you would like a class with a challenge, this is the course to take. Work hard.
Ms. Danley is a very tough and at times, difficult and overly complicated grader. She also takes a while to grade work. Doesn't really provide efficient feedback.
She is a very difficult teacher. She can be nice at times. You will work in groups every time you get into class. She is extremely picky when grading. I would not take again. If you're willing to work extra hard go ahead and take the course. This class is not worth it.
if you're writing is not like hers she will fail you , talks more about politics then she teaches. quizzes are random and you cant retake if you're not there that day . drop this class asap change your teacher if you want to learn and pass this class.
"Not recommended, change your English teacher. She has no course calendar, constantly changes assignments at the last minute, and doesn't communicate clearly about expectations. It feels disorganized and makes it hard to keep up with deadlines."
Unorganized a little bit. Danley was very caring & I respect her but it was difficult to understand where we were in the class because the course schedule and setup were very out of order and unhelpful for most of the work we were assigned.
Very chill and lenient when grading. Doesn't believe in having an A on a paper. Very clear about how she grades. Always has opportunities to redo papers and assignments for a better grade. Overall a cool teacher.
There are four main papers that you work for throughout the semester. It's a writing heavy class is pretty hard. I took this course as a freshman in high school and scraped a B. A's in her class would be very hard to get because she is a really tough grader. Make sure to read the syllabus thoroughly and pay attention to du dates.
I had Prof. Danley for ENGL-1100, and she made the course very easy to understand. I really liked the way her blackboard classroom was set up as it was very organized. The feedback she gave for essay's was also great.
I can't say what I really want to because of the rules. Let's just say I had to go against my political beliefs and my culture to get the grade I did. She's also extremely unorganized and only cares about a certain criteria and if you don't share or pretend to share her views, forget passing. But I guess I'm a good actor. Good luck!!
Honestly I feel bad making this review, but save yourself and do not take this professor for any of her classes. She is very unorganized and shares too much of her personal life and personal beliefs. On top of that, shes extremely unorganized while being a picky grader. This was the only class I didn't get an A in last semester, not worth it.
I dropped this class as soon as she said “I never give A's on papers.” How egotistical and pointless is that? Especially for a class I have to take and pay for. I will wait and take it with someone else before I graduate. I also just did not like her overall attitude, very verbally aggressive and not accepting of different opinions.
I dropped the class as soon as she made comments about being happy about two right wing political figures who faced gun violence this past year. I don't care what side of politics you are on, gun violence is never the answer. Disappointing Columbus State.
Take anyone else, seriously.
I feel pity for this professor and everything she has going on in her personal life. She unfortunately shares a lot of it, but she is not a quality educator, even at the community college level.
I stand with officer Grubbs and Charlie Kirk, and that's why I dropped this class. I can't explain anymore than that due to the rules of this platform.
I was disheartened by how the semester went. her father passed and we never heard from her after the middle of the semester. She stopped grading, showing up to class, and emailing us. Not to mention when she was there she told us she was pushing back the release of grades because she wanted to regrade due to “giving too many As”
I feel bad for making this review, but this professor needs to retire. She's clearly burnt out.
A good teacher, enjoyed the class.
