Read ahead and grasp the material. Often has help sessions for students who need extra help. tests are short but can be fairly hard for ones who procrastinate.
Very nive and helpful teacher. Fairly hard tests but an easy final. Make sure you take her for lab also and not Shubert.
The class is awesome, but she definitely makes the class! The tests aren't too hard if you stay for review and maybe look at the answers before class. One thing you NEED to do to stay ahead in class is... SHOW UP! Don't think you'll get it if you don't!
She is SOOO nice in person, everyone should take her classes... Come on!! I don't want to be alone in there!!! Step to it!
Very helpful, explains things well, nice
Alright teacher. Reads the slides. She also got confused a lot, but figured things out eventually. Exams are not bad if you attend and study. Final is EASY. Says "LITERALLY" a lot, just count.
She is a good teacher. Just go to class and do your homework and you will pass. She makes it easy to know your grade all the way through. She makes this class easier than it could have been!
Overall okay teacher, she goes over all the material, make sure to ask questions, tests are not really easy.
very helpful, friendly, and fair. makes herself very available to students if they need help. recommended especially for intro to chem, just pay attention and do all the homework.
She loves to teach and nurtures scientific knowledge. If you need an A, redo her previous test last year -- missed that part. She will take points off for anything. If you can ever get 100 on her test, let me know.
Very good, make sure you read the book and sometimes her tests are tricky. I would take her again though. If you are a hard worker you should have no problem in her class.
Mrs. Gambino is willing to help students who need help but on the final exam make sure you look at the list of equations. She gives you most of the equations so you don't have to memorize them but theres some stuff on the final that she never whent over which annoyed the hell out of me.
Her is a hint to passing her tests: go to the math lab and ask for a copy of her old tests. They will give it to you and then you can make a copy of the test. Study off of that test and make sure you know how to do everything on it because her tests are almost EXACTLY the same. Unfortuntaly I didn't find that out intil the last test.

Not the hardest class in the world. She is willing to show you if you ask. Just make sure you study for the test and take good notes. Easier to print them or else your wrist will be throbbing by the end of class.
She's pretty tough but she is ver helpful with getting you what you need.
She was absent 3 times from our class (cat died, judging a science fair and cousin died) and when half of us bombed her first test she took no responsibility. She is WAY too into that survery thing. Maybe she should hold a review instead of a survey.
This teacher is nice and very informative. She is very interested to make sure that all the students have a chance to pass her class. There is homework that is required, but if you do the homework the test is pretty easy. You do have to read the chapters. Her tests are kinda easy, but you have to be willing to study outside the classroom.
she should just go back to canada
I really enjoyed this class. She is very interested in her students and giving everyone a chance to do well. If you do the homework you will do well, tests are okay- not whole a lot of studying required. TAKE NOTES! It's usually exactly what's on the tests
Terrible Teacher, Terrible Tests, Expects 9 hours of time to Study a week.
She is the worst CHM teacher. Her reviews do not help at all and she doesn't help you at all. Do not take her.
SHE IS ALWAYS THERE TO ANSWER ANY QUESTION AND SHE WILL TRY TO WORK WITH YOU.
this teacher is really smart. she knows her stuff.. be prepared to study, chem is no joke.. but you should be fine aslong as you study! mrs gambino will help you with anything you need, only thing is if you ask her to clarify something, she'll clear it up--as clear as mudd.
I made a D in high school chem. Was totally freaked about course. She is hard but fair and makes it very interesting. Glad to say I have a 94 average this time.
Honestly, if you don't have to take this class for a degree, don't take it. It's very stressful. But on the upside about it, there are activities and quizes that make your up 80% of your grade. So even if you get D's and low C's on tests, you can manage a B or A in the class. BUT AGAIN, its a HARD class, and i heard Mr. Gambino is better.
She is very smart and knows what she is doing. No complaints in class, very easy going. Only stupid thing is use of PRS unit which will generally run you 10-20 dollars but other then that, take this teacher!
she is very difficult. i feel that she makes things harder than they have to be.other instructors let you have an index card with helpful info, she doesn't even want to give a review worksheet.
i was worried id fail her class but your class activities and quizzes make up like 80% of grade!! dont worry if you dont do that great on tests. just be prepared for the final! its a doozy! great teacher tho...helps you alot and def. knows what shes talking about!
Hard class requires studying, unless you are good at CHM. She a very nice teacher but she makes her test harder than the review.Loves to give hard conversion and dimensional analysis problems. But doing the homework and the quizes really helps out your grade.
She is a graet teacher and if you do your work you'll do great in the class. It's not an easy A, but it's worth the work!
Horrible teacher, told me that i would walk out of the class with a B and I ended up with the Shaft...(D)...Made everything complicated...her husband Anthony is a much better teacher
Although Chemistry isn't my favorite science, I enjoyed having Professor Gambino as a Professor. She is nice and has a good sense of humor. She's always able to help during her office hours.:)
A good teacher, makes tests harder than reviews. You must study to pass for sure.
This was a hard class. You really have to put in the hours studying. Her tests are much harder than than you would think. Always check your grades online because sometimes there are errors and you'll be fighting for every point you can get.
I've taken this teacher since Chem 1025. She's tough, but she does a good job. She's extremely helpful if you have any questions. I recommend her, but you will need to devote a lot of time to study.
helpful. she will do what she can to make it work. as long as you looked over study guide tests were easy. knows whats she talking about and doesnt mind explaining if you have a question. shes a nice lady
I took her for Summer A so there was only 10 people in my class but it was really nice because it was such an easy learning atmosphere and she is a really nice person. Tests harder than expected though but still maintain good grades.
Good Class
She is allways prepared, even if she is out sick you still get all the notes and don't get behind because her husband teaches the class for her. I am taking another one of her classes this semester.
She is ok teacher...I took her class in summer and got A. she just ask the question from study guide but for understanding you have to read text book.
You must study for the tests. also if you want a good grade...PAY ATTENTION AND ASK QUESTIONS!!! sometimes prof. gambino gets quite boring, but try and stay along with her. over all okay teacher, just very confusing and hard to get what she is talking about. read the chapters BEFORE the class.
I took her class in the fall, very fun and intresting class. She loves the subject and is always prepared for class. Her test questions will be similar to what you see in her lecture notes and the textbook. She is always willing to help you when you are confused with something and is very approachable. I would definitely recommend her
her class seems easy until you get a test!!!! her tests are almost impossible to pass! class is very boring.
This class was obviously thrown together at the last minute. She was disorganized, exams were fair (although the grading was VERY nit picky), and she did'nt seem to care that most of the class dropped because she couldn't teach the material. The material wasn't that hard, it was the delivery. Grades were often late and tests not returned.
This class certainly was not one of my favorites. It is a very fast paced class. It is true that the tests are quite difficult. The multiple choice is a killer. Gambino is nice and I believe she does have an actual interest in the subject. The class is passable. Just don't expect too much.
Very hard tests, lots of information to remember. I am ususally an A student, in this class I will be happy if I get out of it with a B. Final test is tomorrow, it could bring my grade down to a C. She could have been easier on us. It is a lots of info.
This class is extremely difficult. We started the class w/ 25 students and ended w/ 11. Tests are very difficult, even with a study guide. Mrs. Gambino has a solid knowledge of chemistry, but she fails to adequetly teach this course. Be advised to seek alternate options, if they are available.
This class is hard. If you want a good grade on a test I recommend you take notes, pay attention, not miss a class, and study a lot before a test. I found her teaching to be pretty good, and mostly understood what she was teaching.(it makes more sense though if you read the chapters b4 hand) some people had difficulties with it though
Loved the teacher, hated the class. She is very helpful and tries to make chem interesting. The study guides 4 tests are really helpful. She did go very quickly through concepts at times, but she always answered ?'s. Homework was always harder than the tests. Fair grader. Material was tricky at times to understand. I would definitely recommend her
On a serious power trip. I think she's spent too much time at the community college. Should go back to school and educate herself! Wears great butterfly clips in her hair though.
Had her for intro chem and loved her! She makes chemistry intreseting and thats what i think makes it easier to understand!
She is very conceited. She assumes we study like we have nothing else to do, but she knows very well we don't study as much as we should. Helpful if you could peel her away from whatever else she is doing, she was always busy with something, but the lectures were not very helpful. I would say 70% of my class disliked her teaching.
Decent teacher, she let the class get bonus on the first test because the average was so low. If you read the sections before the class, and study, you should be able to get an A. I just couldn't find time to do all that studying with the lab hw, and the online hw, and other classes. I didn't have a problem with her, but she was absent a lot.
I thought she was a good professor, however, she taught very easy and made her exams very difficult. In fact, on the final there was one question (worth 10 points) that she didn't even teach us how to solve. She was also a little conceited..but rightly so. She is super intelligent!
YUCK! She breezes through the material and then makes exams super complicated. Test review nothing like exams. EVERY exam had a class average below failing. Final exam class average was below 50%. I think that speaks for itself. DO NOT take her. Several kids in my classs taking Chem II at another school. Shes that bad.
She makes it seem so easy, then her exams are very difficult. If you are to pass, studying is mandatory. Go to the labs as much as possible and do well on them. They will help you a lot. Overall, she is strict and it's a tough class. It's a good precursor to classes at University level.
Very good professor. Need to study notes she gives and her old exams. Be aware that her final is extremely difficult so you need to do well during the whole semester. Had high A before final and just made an A in the end.
EXCELLENT TEACHER!! BEST CHEM TEACHER I HAVE EVERY HAD!
I hated Chemistry and always got horrible grades in high school but she made it fun and interesting! I loved her labs and I ended up with an A just as long as you study her powerpoints you will be fine! I recommend her.
Extremely disappointing teacher. Very difficult to follow in class, she has poor planning when it comes to lectures and asks difficult quiz and homework questions without teaching the proper material. Overall she just makes the learning experiance much more painfull than it needs to be.
Super easy teacher with a super easy subject. If you're not good at normal chem, take this class! She's pretty laid back and gives EASY tests. Just be there for the labs and take 5 minutes to do the "homework".
Very disappointing teacher. She makes test reviews and put its up online but never takes the time to thoroughly go through it with her students. she makes the subject seem easy as pie in class but once you go to do it on your own its impossible. This class stressed me out incredibly and I think some of that had to do with this teacher.
Explains material very well, makes it interesting. Her tests are hard but she is human and can give an easy extra credit quiz. If you need help, she is always available. The class is a lot of work, so be prepared to study a lot.
I really encourage you to look at another teacher. This professor has the knowledge of the subject no doubt but cannot convey it to students in an understandable way. She is not willing to help, is stubborn and often times unprepared for class. I am a 4.0 college student with over 20 credit hours completed and this class was a disaster.
Awful professor. Grades extremely difficult. Lectures are power point presentations and are basically useless. Basically, if you want to learn chemistry don't take her. If you don't care and just want an alright grade don't take her. Stay FAR away...
She is definetely tough but a great instructor. she will make you work hard to earn a good great. So don't be afraid to take her. she is great and has a heart
EXTREMELY Difficult! she's a tough grader and her tests are tricky. She is a nice person but you will need a tutor to pass her class
Great teacher! Fair grader. Must take notes, study and attend class to do well--but that is usually standard for any class. Very knowledgeable and always willing to help! Took her for Chem 1 & 2!
Amazing teacher. I've had her & her husband. Fair grader and tests can be tricky only if you haven't payed much attention in the class. She wants to see everyone do their best, so do the work and you'll be fine.
I took Mrs. Gambino for Chem I and Chem II. She always made sure that her students understood the material, whether she explains it further right there in class or if you visit her office afterwards. She can be a tough grader, especially when it comes to sigfigs, but usually fair. Excellent teacher, I highly recommend her.
Run for your life or at least for your GPA's life because she will destroy your straight A avg. In CHEM II, boring, zooms through things, makes it super complicated. Avg grade on each of three exams was F-D. Gives very hard tests. Her "test reviews," are just summaries of the entire book. Will destroy any interest you ever had in chemistry. Awful.
Excellent chem teacher. Had her for CHM I and II. Class is challenging, but as long as you keep up with the lecture and homework, you should do alright. Check over her grading and make sure she graded correctly, though.
I took Prof. Gambino for Chem 1&2. She is a good professor. As long as you take notes on the slides, and do the hw and actually study, you will do well in her class. She is a fair grader and her tests are fair. Especially, the final. She basically tells you exactly what it will consist of. Study the old tests verbatim, new material, and it's cake!
Mrs. Gambino is an excellent teacher, helpful. Very hard, make sure you take notes and examples she gives in class, most of these examples will be on the test. Hard tests, you have to study a lot. Read the book, review notes, and examples and pay attention. You will do fine. The final is a breathe, old exams are in one. Got an A,challenging.
What a great professor. She helped so much and her door was always open for any questions. The exams are hard, but as long as you study, do the homework, attend class, take notes, etc you'll be fine. She is a funny professor and the semester flew by with her. She wants you to succeed. One of my favorites.
I read these reviews and being a 4.0 student I went with the more positive..Bad decision. I went to her for clarification and was told "Not everyone gets an A in Chem". We had 48 at the begining of the semester and 25 with a 72 avg at the end. Very intelligent and personable but just can't convey the subject. The exams/hm wk/class do not coincide.
Quizzez are held daily and straight forward. The tests however, never seem to coincide with the lecture/ homework. They are misleading, multipart questions. She claims to want to test you know the concepts, if that were true more partial credit would appear for doing procedure right but maybe a mistake made the answer incorrect.
Great Chemistry Teacher! Explains why certain things behave the way they do in real life based off the concepts in chemistry making it easy to understand. Goes over example questions during class. Sometimes explains things in a unclear way. However, she will answer your questions if you are confused about something so ask if you don't understand.
Mrs. Gambino is a great chemist. She knows her material very well. For me, I have never taken a Chemistry in high school and have been out of high school over 10 years......definitely tough class for me....other may have different opinion. A must study course, and a must participate course. If you want a challenge; she is your professor.
Terrible! Unless you have a strong background in chemistry, do not take her. Does not teach any fundamental concepts and assumes that you already know everything. Not a good way to approach teaching Gen Chem I. Exams are not representative of the material presented in class or in the HW and are very hard. Take someone else instead!
The class I took was a blended online lecture and in person lab and it is awful. The powerpoints and quizzes do not coincide. She knows her stuff, but assumes you know it as well. If you are already strong at chemistry, she's a good teacher, if you aren't but want to really learn chemistry, AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS.
Very horrible experience with Mrs. Gambino. She knows chemistry, there is no doubting that; however, she is NOT good at teaching it. She assumes everyone in the class knows everything already and her classes are always run like reviews. She never curves tests even with really low class averages. She should not be a professor. take someone else.
For an intro class, better know everything about chemistry. Does not know how to teach at all. Tests on calculations not even in the text book. Can make 100 in homework and quizzes but make 40's and 50's on exams. avoid this professor at all costs. Not many good chemistry professors at SCF
Worst teacher I have ever had, she didn't explain anything or seem to have any interest in helping her students do good. The majority of the other students in class all struggled as well and complained she didn't know how to explain the material. BAD TEACHER!!
Mrs. Gambino is tough. Her class is more difficult than the one offered at USF (where she used to teach). CPS clicker quiz every lecture. Mastering Chem homework. 4 tests and a final (cumilative). She grades very fairly, will work with you if you need help, and really knows her stuff. Put in the time and you will pass.
Take this class if you want to learn the material. She creates the exams so that you have enough time to finish them in the class period. She is by no means an 'easy' teacher because she ensures that you learn the material. She has quickly become one of my fave teachers I enjoyed her chem1 class more than any other. will take her again over anyone
Took her for Intro to Chemistry, enjoyed it and decided to take her again for CHM 1020C. It was a blended class and she recorded the lectures with powerpoint video so you could listen to them and rewind if needed. Do the work and you will pass the class. She is reasonable but you must study. Enjoyed the class and would take her again.
Extremely hard teacher. Expects you to know the subject already. Not lenient at all. Exams are very hard. Flies through notes. All my online homework were perfect 100's, had a 98 on the lab but did bad on the exams and still failed.
I took her blended class. She can sometimes misspell things which makes what she's trying to say unclear. The final was hard and I got a 70 on it but she did give me a 110 on my chemistry project so she does know if your trying or not. Overall it was a pretty good class, put effort into it and you'll do fine.
Took Intro (fall 2014)and Gen Chem 1(spring 2015) both blended. Intro was GREAT! Online stuff helpful, lectures were clear and easy to understand, great communication. Gen Chem 1 was difficult. Online stuff difficult to understand, lectures did not help explain things. She missed last 4 weeks of classes, communication horrible!
I took this teacher for Chem 1 as well as chem 2. I thought chem 2 would be a bit easier because I would have more of a back ground in it... That was not the case. She is one of the worst chem teachers out there and does not know how to explain to her students! AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I'll start by saying Professor Gambino is NOT a great teacher. IF YOU HAVE NOT TAKEN INTRO CHEM, DO NOT TAKE HER!! I'm enrolled in her summer course, accelerated (6 weeks), I took intro in the spring and the course is doable, but my classmates who have not, are struggling terribly. If you do not have a good understanding of chemistry avoid.
I didnt miss a class and still was lost the entire time. No idea how I did it but pulled off a B. Not a single person in class thought she taught well.
Most frustrating semester I have ever had. Disorganized. Does not respond to emails in a timely fashion--if at all. Is unclear with expectations. Terrible recorded lectures where she sounds confused and unprepared. I would avoid taking her for biochem if at all possible.
I have had a very frustrating semester with Professor Gambino. The first test came back and after talking to nearly half of my class, I discovered that nobody, including myself, did well. Over half the class has dropped and I am sure she is about to lose a lot more since the second test results are back. I will never take a class with her again.
Very hard. I got an A but with much help from friends of previous semesters. Tests are very hard. Would not recommend but none of them are good at SCF. I suggest going to st Pete college for chemistry. Anyway, she is reasonable if you you need to make up a quiz or Test. I got an 89.2 and she gave me an A still
This is a very frustrating class, because of Professor Gambino. Notes & tests have typos, due dates don't make sense, and she is not helpful at all. She has closed ears to any problems & expects you to already fully understand the material. I barely have an A, because I spend 15 hours a week in the textbook. Do all HW & tests still blindside me
I took this Gen Chem 1 without taking Intro to Chem and it was horrible! She's a really fair prof and I liked her as a person, but she expected you do do the work for the chapter before she lectured on it in class. I've heard from people that took intro that her class wasn't that bad, but for me it was a rough semester.
took her for chem 1 and it was rough even after taking intro to chem the previous semester. she expects you to do homework on the chapter before she gives lecture on the material. even when she goes over the material in class it is not very thorough. she is very smart when it comes to chemistry ill give her that, but horrible at teaching chemistry.
Professor Gambino is not a very good teacher, although she is really good at telling you how well she knows chemistry. Tests are almost always harder than any example given in class. Not good at explaining how to do problems, but will breeze on through it while the students watch. Do not take her. Ill save you the trouble
Gambino is an okay professor. Be prepared to spend lots of your time on this class. The test are pretty easy only if you study. Her questions are nothing like the ones in class and listen to her lectures carefully. You have to teach yourself the class to get an A and if you don't study won't pass
Forgot to add a photo on the one test and then I got points off when it was her fault. Rude and didn't even get to take the course evaluation cause she took it away.
Class is fairly interesting, provides good real world examples to make concepts manageable. You need the book and the online homework. The tests are fairly easy after finishing review packets that are over 10 pages long of grueling TORTURE. I didn't like that we had to learn Organic at the end of the class.
Sign up for anyone else. I like chemistry. I got an A in intro. She will help you hate chemistry. Ridiculous theoretical questions on exams, the due dates make no sense. Does not explain things well in lecture. Monotone voice. ARC tutors couldn't figure a lot of it out. She clearly does not put herself in her student's shoes. Huge disconnect.
The teacher did not give fair quiz or test questions. The exam reviews were badly written and hurt your grade more than it helped it. She did not communicate well and would give you the "tough luck" answer if you asked a question. I feel like both her and Dr. Gambino do not care about this class. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
DO NOT TAKE HER. I took her for intro and it was pretty easy. But for GEN CHEM 1 she is awful. Test are hard. She gives reviews but they do not help at all. She is a shame... I have a 3.6 gpa so I'm a good student.
Prepare to spend at minimum 20 hours a week on homework alone. Gives very lengthy reviews that don't even help for the test. You must print off the lecture notes every week. I would not recommend this professor.
Spent 20-35 hours a week on this class. Tons of homework that takes countless hours to complete. Review packets count as a grade but are nothing like the tests. Literally hardest class of my life! Worked extremely hard to receive low grade!
Horrible pronunciation, not a good communicator
I had no option but to take her again for chem 2 (Summer A). She doesn't know what is on the HW. She'll say we can skip a concept but then there's several HW questions on it. Same thing with the quizzes. Has high expectations of us but doesn't bother to be a decent instructor by putting work into "her" material. Too many issues to list.
She clearly explains the concepts and constantly warns and tells you what's going to be on the test. She responds to emails quickly and is approachable for questions. Actually do your homework, work every single problem, show up to class, and re-watch the lectures she post online to get an A.
Do not take this class! You'll spend at least 30 hours a week (5 assignments per week that take up to 4 hours plus quizzes) Homework and tests are way harder than what she does in class, and does not know how to explain, had to teach almost everything myself. Awful!
Whatever you do in life please, please, please DO NOT, DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! this lady is absolutely awful. Her quizzes and exams have nothing to do with her lectures. Her exam questions are far beyond difficult and have nothing to do with what she teaches.
Worst prof I've ever had. She's terrible; does the bare minimum as a teacher; wastes SO MUCH TIME talking about irrelevant things during lecture. Homework is ridiculous and does not help for the tests. She has a huge ego and sometimes likes to preach her political agenda to the class :-) Her lectures SUCK & tests are even worse. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
This was a good professor in my opinion. There was many little assignments, quizzes, and tests each week that kept you learning and constantly studying. The homework was ALOT at time and kind of pointless and irrelevant. I think the homework should be removed. With all the quizzes, tests, assignments, labs, etc, it was alot.
Class is difficult to begin with. The lectures/hw do not specifically pertain to the answers on the quizzes or tests. The labs were interesting but only tangentially related to course material (unless you personally research the hows and whys of the lab). I was hoping for more real world chemistry information and this class was more general concept
don't take the class it is very difficult the teacher gives more work than any class ive ever had and she mutes assignments so you won't know your grades
Mrs. Gamino is a very great professor. She gives you a TON of extra credit opportunities and gives real life, relate able examples to the topic she is teaching. She explains things well and if you are unclear, she will go and reexplain what you need. She is very funny as well, the tests of tough, but she gives partial credit for work.
I took the accelerated class and it went okay. If you DO NOT HAVE a lot of time in your schedule DO NOT take. The course itself is very easy to go through with the lecture she provides but again this course requires time, especially with the activities(Labs). Expect a lot of work. Certain things she will grade very harshly so be aware of that.
The amount of homework is insane, there's at least 5 quizzes before a test, circles incorrect answers on tests to show you what the correct answer is supposed to be, doesn't bother reviewing for the final exam. Don't take this class unless you enjoy getting low grades and feeling like an idiot every class. I should've listened to the warnings here.
Let me put it this way. If you TRULY do not NEED to take any form of chemistry for your major, then AVOID AT ALL COSTS. An extremely fast paced class that involves little explanation and lots of late nights trying to teach yourself the things you didnt learn in class. It's incredibly advanced for an introductory course, but she seems nice.
Too much work, not enough credits.
She gives you 25 things that are all due in one day and even on an online class has you buy things for experiments at home and take photos of them!
Fast paced class due to the time constraint of the semester, She will go over things again if asked to ensure that you understand the material. A lot of work but if you put effort, read the chapter and go over the PPT ahead of time even if you don't understand it right away the class will be much easier. Also print PPT and take notes on that.
She sits at her desk and you have to figure things out with your group. I dont even understand why she was even there? To babysit?? Disappointed- dropped the class.
I took Gambino for Intro and she was honestly great there was a substantial amount of homework but it really prepares you for the exams. There is about 1-2 quizzes each week but the homework is easy as long as you keep up with it. During class she asks questions which engages you more in the class and is open to any questions you may have.
Crystal was extremely rushed when creating this course, all tests, lectures, and modules for instruction had EXTREME spelling mistakes, grammar issues, and lack of proper specific instruction. Her directions are vague, misspelled, and for this class, you have to actually purchase materials for labs and take pictures to submit. I've spent almost $70
Inspiring lecturer. She gives plenty of real world examples to make the content easier to understand. Test reviews are thorough- if you complete them, you will do fine on the tests. Reading the text is a must for this course. I would definitely recommend and take again.
Get your wallets ready because youre about to spend some money in this class. I wish I wouldve paid more attention to the bad reviews. Im struggling to keep my straight As and its all because of this class. A lot of homework. I havent seen life outside of this course since it began. Avoid this teacher at all cost. If u dont need it dont take
HORRIBLE! takes over a week to grade, unfair grading, doesn't help when reached out to, doesn't lecture on what is going to be tested, very unorganized, constant spelling and grammatical errors throughout, google is your best friend in this class because you learn NOTHING from her! don't take this class unless you have absolutely no other choice
Spent $100 on supplies unexpectedly. Her quizzes don't let you correct mistakes. Spell something wrong and expect to get a 30% grade drop. This class has an enormous amount of work (like HOLY CRAP) but it is possible. She explains things well. Make sure you listen to her lectures and write down things that she has said that isn't on the slides.
Gambino is by far the worst professor I have taken, for the first time ever, I have had to hire a private tutor just to get by in the class because she is horrible at explaining anything. You have like 6 assignments due in one day. She doesn't give lessons, you get a practice paper and you have to work with your group. Listen to the bad reviews!
Don't take. To start she gets sassy with you when you ask a simple question. She doesn't help you. Her grammar is awful. Her quizzes don't allow you to see the correct answers leaving you nothing to learn from and they don't match with her lectures. She takes forever to grade your work. Get ready to spend over 100 just for the first 4 experiments.
Gambino's class is very interesting. There are lecture uploads every week in which we attempt problems on worksheets and we go over them in class. She doesn't really teach in class aside from going over the worksheets. You'll have to read the material in order to understand what's going on. Tests are okay as long as you study and review.
I'm not usually a chemistry-lover but this class was awesome. Mrs. Gambino had great lectures that were broken down into easy to understand concepts. She added a lot of useful stories to expand on and explain what we were learning too. The labs were fun and instructional. The online platform that was used for out-of-class assignments was helpful.
DON'T SIGN UP HER CANVAS IS A JOKE MORE THAN 10 ASSESSMENTS WERE WITHIN A 5 DAY PERIOD. SHE DOES NOT ACCEPT LATE WORK EXAMS ARE LENGTHY AND ONLY 1 HR LONG. POWERPOINTS ARE POINTLESS NONE OF THE NECESSARY INFORMATION FOR THE QUIZZES ARE IN HER LECTURES I HAVE A 4.0 AND HAVE NEVER HAD A HARDER TIME IN A CLASS HER TEACHING IS TRASH BEWARE!!!
I really enjoyed professor Gambino. It's a bit of work and not the easiest class but she's extremely accessible outside of class and always willing to help. I took her for the spring semester and even after going online she was always willing to video call and answer any questions. She comes off a little intimidating but she's actually very nice.
**Disclaimer: my class was pushed ONLINE due to corona First off, I took the six week accelerated Gen Chem I course. Prof Gambino is organized and available outside of class. Textbook not required but I would recommend purchasing the ebook. This class goes very fast, but if you stay on track and study the examples you will do great on the exams.
I know you are supposed to write reviews after you are done with the semester but I am currently laying down crying because this class is so hard, not because all the work but her exams are so hard , her lecture dont help at all. You have to buy all the materials for the labs its just awful. I have all As in my classes except this one.
It's not a class for those who aren't ready to sit down for a few hours and work. It's not hard, but it's not something you can just skim over and expect to get an A, or a B. Prof. Gambino is awesome and understanding, I am about to have a baby and she isn't penalizing me for being late on assignments, even though other professors might.
BAD ONLINE! Have to spend money on materials for super lame experiments. BAD PowerPoints. You don't learn anything. So many book assignments! Tests are super long and impossible to study for. I didn't learn anything. NOT WORTH IT.
She assigns a lot of homework with questions that are not found in her lectures nor in the course material and her exams are even worse. So much worse that they could be SAT/ACT questions. Her practice exams also do not relate to the homework and the schedule is backwards. Save yourself, don't take her class.
Lots of homework/assignments but they do help you learn the material. Tests are hard unless you study thoroughly. Take detailed notes or this class will be very difficult to pass.
Do not take this class online. The workload and their due dates are unreasonable. The exams do not offer enough time to complete and the homework/assignment program she uses is unforgiving. Cant say how in person class is with her but even her husband makes the lab enjoyable and entertaining despite it being all online. Wish she took notes from him
I have never had such a terrible professor until I took her class. The amount of hw she assigns is ridiculous, her lectures don't match with the exam, the "reviews" she gives are useless when it's time to take the exam, she put problems in the exam that she has never given an example of and very little time! Literally, the worst, don't take her!
I had to take this class to gain credit and I had 4.0 avg and she messed it up. I have never encountered such a tough graded professor with so many assignments online with little time. I could not even focus on other classes since her class was overwhelming. Her exams are tough and her reviews for exams are useless.
I withdrawal for the sake of my GPA. "test reviews" do NOT help you for the test. Be ready to answer questions about unicorns, fairies and in another universe on the exams making you overthink about what you know. there is a lot of homework but that ok. No feedback, you'll never know the right answer of questions you missed.
If this is the only online class your taking, youll probably be okay. If you are taking multiple courses, work full time and have elementary/middle school kids. Dont take her class!! The amount of assignments and quizzes per week is ridiculous! The pretest exam is a joke and doesnt match the exams minus a question or two. Find another teacher!
I'd rather do kindergarden through high school over again than take her class again. She's obsessed with trying to catch people cheating so she makes exams unreasonably hard with made up elements and all kinds of errors. Pages of material is due BEFORE she "teaches" it in class. Ruthless grader. Easily worst professor I've had so far.
Let me just start of by saying this is day 1 of this class and I will be dropping out . THERE IS 39 assignments due in less than 2 weeks????? THAT IS INHUMANE! I refuse to let this class ruin my gpa and cause mental breakdowns all summer . Only chose her because there was no other teachers available at this school. Not sure what Im going to do now
Chemistry is hard, but the way a teacher teaches plays a big role in your learning. This professor needs to understand that not everyone knows what she knows- this why we are here (to learn). Her tests are very hard. PRE-TESTS ARE NOTHING LIKE THE TEST.
First week of class youll have over 30assignments due in a week and also the quizzes have nothing to do with the lecture notes, nothing at all! Legit havent learned a single thing and had to call out of work just to do atleast 9assignments each day! Ridiculous LISTEN TO ALL THE REVIEWS .Only took the class bc she was the only choice .dont do it
I finished the class w an A but you HAVE to put in the work. Lots of work. If ur not willing to sit down for a few hours everyday and study/take notes, do NOT take this class. I have never worked this hard for a single class in my school career (NO exaggeration). It is not hard persay, it is just a LOT!!! First week 25 assignments due in 1 night
If you email her, she will answer any questions you have but not very enthusiastically. Throughout the entire course, there are SO SO SO many typos everywhere, so she's not the most organized teacher. She is a LOT of work and you HAVE to work hard for it. She will not give you an easy A. Chem is hard as it is, but she assigns LOTSSS of work!!!
I am a straight A student. This class CAN be done and you CAN get an A in this class but you HAVE to put in the work and study for hours every day/week. The first week, there are 29 assignments due which is ridiculous, but if you plan accordingly, you can do 5 assignments/week and be fine. She's very disorganized and doesn't seem excited to help
i finished the class w a 95 but i didnt slack. if you plan on slacking, do not take this class. she WILL make you work for your grade and there are LOTS of assignments. tests are timed and medium difficulty but the answers to the lecture quizzes are directly in the lectures. take notes on the lectures, it's so helpful!!
Do not take this class. She grades very strict and no matter how hard you try it doesnt even matter, she likes to fail kids. Her lectures are boring to watch, her way of teaching students shouldnt be counted as teaching and she isnt a good person in general. Your better off finding someone else. SAVE YOURSELF DO NOT TAKE HER I REPEAT.
Most of her test show your work questions are generated from the activity sheets. So do them sheets and practice. Lots of hw but it prepares you for the test . Not an easy class you really have to work hard and study. I actually enjoyed her live lectures through Teams. I took her summer accelerated class and got a B
I finished with a 94% but thats only because I NEEDED an A in this class and I wouldnt settle for anything less. I have never put more work into another class before. If I can get an A, you can u, but it will not come easy. Im not lying when I say this is the hardest class of my entire time here at SCF
A great teacher who genuinely loves to help students. The class is hard because there just isn't enough time to cover all of the concepts learned. Just make sure you structure your schedule to fit in studying and you will do great.
Unorganized and tough grader. Very temperamental.
The amount of assignments are ridiculous for one week, and most of them consist of typos and are extremely disorganized. Her "Lecture Videos" for her online class are her just reading power point word for word. I asked for a ONE day extension because I currently have an ill family member in the hospital and have been visiting, she asked for proof?!?
Part 1: You have 14 assignments due as soon as the class starts, from there it drops to 8-10 per week, this assignments won't help much your grade, your grade will mostly depend on exams. Assignments don't prepare you AT ALL for the exams. Exams are full of fictitious creatures and universes, super hard and you will most likely run out of time.
Part 2: she is obsessed with catching people cheating, like next level FBI type of thing even when online. She enjoys making her class hard and seeing students struggle, she has knowledge but doesn't know how to teach, lectures are useless, pre tests are useless. The whole class is just a waste of time.
Got a high B only because I HAD TO. I also thought I could prove every other person that reviewed here wrong, let me tell you something, YOU CAN'T. If you want to get depression, hair loss, insomnia, chronic stress, eating disorder etc. then by all means sign up for this class. All I can say is DONT TAKE THIS CLASS, SAVE YOUR LIFE.
Save your money!! She will want to fail you! All her exams make no sense and include word problems that are a whole fairy tale story. I asked her to round up my 76.9 to a 77 and she gave me every excuse in the book to not do it. She's very frustrating and in my opinion has no room teaching and having peoples future in her hands. I could say sm more
please please please PLEASE read all of the other reviews. She is an incredibly difficult teacher as the assignments are confusing and the lectures are useless. You have at LEAST 10 assignments due a week which if you have a full schedule of classes, can be a lot. She is also extremely disorganized. DONT TAKE HER CLASS!!
8 assignments a week filled with typos. 100$ worth of materials for labs (could do online activities instead) All or nothing for credit.
Dude. She SOOOOCKS. I just want to know who hurt this lady. We have 30 assignments due in 2 weeks almost every week this ridonculous.
Although I managed to get an A in this class, it was not with help of Professor Gambino. She is hard to reach, and her weekly science projects requires weekly trips to the store and spending money every week which is annoying for broke college students. Try and take someone else if you can.
Easily the worst professor I've ever had. A lot of assignments due every week, instructions are often unclear and riddled with typos. Will tell you to change the way you're doing a lab just to take the points off later for it. All of her tests are made up imaginary worlds. The online portion does not teach you anything you need for the class.
Let me make this clear. If the only way to graduate on time is by taking her class...wait until next semester and take someone else. Anyone else. DO NOT IGNORE THIS WARNING. I kid you not she traumatized several students. Had to take a semester break to recover from the nastiness of her attitude and the insane expectations. Don't take her.
She never responded to the emails I sent and then said we were supposed to text her google voice number but still wouldn't respond. Not very accommodating, Chemistry was so much fun and she ruined it
- VERY Illiterate. Couldn't understand most of the questions due to 10 year old spelling and grammar. - Completed assignments and tests won't show correct answers after completion. - Experiments require constantly going to the store to buy expensive materials that you only will use once in your life -- waste of money. - And so many more things...
I HAD to take this class for my prereqs and she's the only one who teaches this class. The weekly activity inputs are a pain bc you have to buy supplies. The notes or lectures don't help much for quizzes. The exam reviews are long and hard but they do help for the test. A LOT of work for one week, at least 4 quizzes and 2 activities a week.
I took this class online and yes there was a lot of assignments due such as quizzes and lab work, but I didn't think it was too overwhelming. Her PowerPoints are clear and helpful for studying. Overall, I enjoyed this class!
PLEASE AVOID AT ALL COST!!!! This teacher is unprepared and disorganized, and to put it frankly she just can't teach properly. Her test are nothing like the homework or activity sheets she gives they are word problems that are paragraphs long and confusing just to read as there are many typos and errors. By far the worst teacher in my 20 yr career.
I did enjoy Dr.Gambino's class although I do think that at times I did find myself falling behind because of the sheer amount of work that was required for the class. My course load extends way beyond just this one course so that might have been unique to me but the amount of work at times was barely manageable.
got a 93ish, show up on time, do the quizzes and assignments, she really goes over everything, great learning experience.
One of the worst professor's I have ever had.
she is really unfair about the assignment I got zero for an assignment just because the size of poster was not matching with the specified size. she did not care how much I worked on the assignment to find information and the time that I spent on it.
I haven't finished the course yet but I'm inches away from dropping it. It is impossible for someone to be so incredibly unclear. This class is making me want to give up on science altogether. Poor wording, terrible tests, NO CURVE when there really should be. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS.
The lectures offer very little preparation for exams. Exams are designed to complicate material learned and they are very difficult to finish within time limit. Excessive amount of HW, quizzes, and additional activities which I guess helps your grade, but only if you get it all correct. Avoid this "professor."
First off TAKE-HER-IN-PERSON! You never purchase anything for the class. Every week, there are 2 quizzes; the quizzes are only one attempt but straight-out of the class lectures & 2 lecture assignments a week, but there are unlimited attempts. Study guide for each exam are MOSTLY All the test questions. TEST EXAMS ARE ONLINE AND ARE NOT PROCTORED!
Honestly I read the comments on here & I was nervous on just taking the class! But I decided to just suck it up & do it in Person! & She's not like any of the comments on here at all She's Great! There are study guides for all the Tests, MOSTLY all the test Q's were on it! plus they're 5 extra credit points added to the test! NO HONORLOCK Or Final!
I thought her online class was very organized and easy to understand. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was not seeing which test questions I got wrong. However she met with me on teams and went over the exams with me. Very responsive to emails. Make sure you fill out the study guide she gives you!
Her class is incredibly disorganized and the workload is atrocious, its as if she thinks we dont have other classes. 10/10 do NOT recommend
The professor has a specific system, but if you engage with it, the class works well. Definitely rely on study aids like Unstuck ai, ChatGPT, and the textbook to prepare. Attendance is mandatory, so stay focused in lectures.
She gives tons of homework via pearson. Per week you are required to do a lecture quiz, reading quiz, homework questions, activity sheets, video and animation questions. Homework questions alone have an estimated time of 1+ hours. Chapter 7 homework questions plain out stated that it will take 3 or more hours to complete. Goodluck.
She is genuinely really nice and willing to help students out. For an intro class, I feel so lost since I don't have the time for her office hours. The exams feel like gibberish. There is so much work in this class that half of my workload per week is from her class alone. You need to study on your own, or you're just as screwed as I am.
The professor assigns a bunch of work nearly 4 hours a week, not including the 6 hours spent in class and lab. Exam are prepared 2-3 days before; pretest and activity sheets help to a certain degree enough to achieving a 50% on the exam. If you do end up in the class, I would recommend YouTube.
I was terrified of this class after reading these reviews but ???am I in the twilight zone??? This was the EASIEST A of all my science courses. If you care even a tinybit it is so easy and so achievable. No honor lock. Quick lectures. Works with you. Answered emails. Her and her husband (Anthony Gambino) were incredible. CHM1020C- do not be scared!
None of her tests are about the homework. We get a lot of assignments a week. We never have reviews for tests and she is so unorganized. On my tests she just gave me an "X" on all of my work and never told me what I did wrong. When I would go to her she would make me feel even worse than I did before about a test or homework.
She is very nice and really cares about her students. I took Chemistry 1 with her over the summer, it was a lot of work but definitely manageable. As long as you put in a decent amount of effort, you will pass the class. The exams are only 35% which isn't bad, but some questions are worded super confusing, skip them and come back if you have time.
I would not recommend taking her class because of how badly the homework is assigned. For someone who works and who has a lot of other classes and responsibilities all of the homework that is randomly due in the middle of the week is exhausting. She seems nice but I had more understanding professors.
She is very passionate, engaging, helpful. Lectures move quickly; can be tough if new to chemistry. Lecture slides not posted after class. Heavy homework: 4/week; due-dates may change. Chapter Activity Sheets good for studying. Quiz/test answers not posted; multiple attempts allowed. Pre-tests helpful; group projects reinforce learning.
