She is great. She ,akes the class very intersteing. She makes the class fun. All homework/papers are done in groups. Her quizzes and tests are a little hard because they are essay, but she preps you for everything.

I think she was really good. Like everyone else said her quizes are essay (just write something and you will get an A) I got an "A" and I didn't open the book till the final. Just take notes and glance at them in class. Get your group to work well with eachother (be a leader) Take her if you can...
She is demeaning and rude to students
i do not like her style of teaching. iactually withdraw from her class because i foung her to be not very helpful.
She is a very demanding teacher, but her work is not impossible. She thinks she is being clever and "Californian" but she's plain rude, insulting, and she will embarrass a student without mercy.
Professor is good in insulting her students in fron the whole class.
Just read what she tells you to read and you'll be fine. Pop quizzes almost everyday but they're simple...2 questions min. Also all essays are group work!! After midterm she gets way easier. She also gives lots of easy extra credit.
She seems extra moody. Her class is pretty easy. I haven't read any of the text and I'm passing her class with an A. She talks about pop quizzes all the time, but we don't have them that often. She's really not a good teacher and she comes off as sorta mean after the first couple weeks. Easy class, but not fun/intersting at all.

The class is pretty easy but really boring. Shes under the impression that her teaching methods are ridiculously hard and will improve your life in ways unfathomable (they're not...whatsoever). Just show up, participate in class, read the text from time to time and you'll be fine.
She is HORRIBLE!! She is just into herself and hearing herself talk. She hands out papers and doesnt even explain what to do with them. When you ask questions she responds to you like your stupid for asking! She doesnt lecture and does group work most of the class. She is just way to into herself and isnt that interested in her students!

This teacher is a joke. She tries to scare you in her class. She teaches pretty elementary. all you have to do is come to class and you will get more extra credit points than you will know what to do with. Study your notes before you go to class and if you have a "pop quiz" you will be more than prepared. Right now i have a 116 in her class.easyA

Extremly easy! Plus, you actually learn about the gov't but its more through talking than book studing. Great class and teacher!
I enjoyed the class. Dr. Garrett holds everyone to a high level of accountability. Her class is very informative and fun. If you are not serious about school don't take Dr. Garrett. She's great but only for the serious student.
I liked Dr. Garrett she was very good professor, but she is very stern as a person. Expect a lot of group work and a lot essays. and fyi she loves pop quizzes more than she loves her husband so expect at least one every class. We really didnt use the book in class but it is a very very very very good study guide
Dr. Garrett is the greatest professor i've met so far in perimeter. Her class is challenging at the begining, but later you get the hang of it. She gives lots of extra credit, so their is no way you can fail her class. BTW, I ended up with an A in her class! If you want to learn something new about government in an interactive way pick her!
I've learned so much in her class, and this is coming from someone that struggles with government! She is a very open, helpful, interactive, and available at all times! You should definetely take her class if you really want to learn something that will actually stick!!! Great professor!

Take her! She's a real great teacher. She gives pop quizes, but if you fail them, she'll make your grade up in the end by giving extra credit..and she gives alot towards the end of the semester! I'd highly recommend her. You'll get out of her class with an A, no doubt.
Dr. Garrett is awful. Her teaching is not only completely WRONG, they are offensive. If you try to correct her on one of her NUMEROUS mistakes, she treat's you like you have a bad attitude.I think she makes up what she teach's in class. I went to another teacher to ask about something she said, and he said he had never heard of such a silly thing.
Garrett is a terrible teacher. She is WRONG WRONG WRONG with what she teaches. She does not tell you what you are supposed to do for projects, then won't listen when you try to talk to her about it. She is a very stupid woman who somehow managed to get through school. She should not be allowed to teach. DON'T TAKE HER!
She is a NOT a good teacher, she gives a lot of pop quizzes which count a lot in your grade and ask you to do a lot of extra credit work and DO NOT give you any extra credit when you need it. More then half people in my class dropped out even before mid-term. Don't take her!!!
I dont know what the ppl b4 this year were on but she sucks!unbelievable,all of the studying and hard work has paid of to a C.she is so picky and doesnt want to help you out.no compassion,understanding,common sense.too much pride and ego!dont take her!she will lower ur GPA and has her own favorites.very judgemental too.
Dr. Garrett comes across as very tough on the first few days of class..If you take notes in class and study you'll be fine. She gives a quiz once a week. Best part about her is if you rewrite all the notes before the midterm and the final she gives you 30 poinnts each time added to your midterm and finals! I loved her!
GPC really screwed up hiring Garrett. She is all talk, but if you take this class be prepared for pop quiz's. Read over notes often to get a good grade. Unfortunately, she treats every student as if they are in middle school and she is the disciplinarian, or at least for our class. It was an outrage. I will be writing the chancellor.
Garret is a very good teacher, i dont agree with the bad comments about her.First of all, she makes you love the subject, gives TONS of extra credit, so theres no way you would fail if you're trying. Yeah, she comes out like a very hard teacher in the beginning of the sem. but in the end she's very laid back and nice. EASY A

At first she seems cool, structured and determined. Dr Garret is crazy. She's very weird and doesnt tell you what she expects from you when she assigns projects. She gets pissed off when you call her Mrs and not Dr. Shes super rude and gives too many pop quizzes to the point where your grade will drop from a B to a C because of some stupid quizzes.
PLEEEAZ Do not be alarmed at DR. Garret facade when you first meet her. She puts on the hardest exterior and may like the class will be super hard snd strict. I was alarmed at the begining, I thought she was very closed mined. As we progressed into the course she showed that she's pretty balanced. I was already very familiar with American government and how it works, so this class was fairly easy for me. She cares about you learning the subject. You should too.
if i knew what i knew now i would have NEVER taken her! she is so RUDE! her pop quizes are not that difficult but she words them so horribly that you dont know what in the world she is looking for. If i were you i would use her as my last resort. check out another professor first.

If you go to class and prepare for pop quizzes, and get all extra credit it is easy. If interested in the subject take another teacher.

Would not recommend this professor. She gives pop quizzes quite a bit. She is not cool at all. Not clear on what she is looking for either. If u want a descent grade, take another professor.
Not a good teacher. Class is easy but she is rude to her students and leaves the class all the time. If you do take her make sure that you call her Dr. Garrett. She gets very rude when students dont call her Dr. Garrett. If you have time to put up with her attitude and rudnes you will do fine. She does treat her students worse then in HIgh School.
Easy class, gives plenty of extra credit. She leaves the class for about 85% of every class and has you copy notes from the overhead. Good grades are not hard to come by if you keep your answers vague. On a test, i said that north korea had a socialist gov't and she gave me full credit. Take at own risk.
Dr. Garrett brings enthusiasm to the table when teaching and commands your attention when she is speaking. The biggest problem is, she gives lots of pop quizzes...not just on a specific chapter, it's normally one question taken out of each chapter she's taught in the past. I took Dr. Garrett for a global issues class. She doesn't really know much about the subject. I felt like the class was remedial when it came to not only the subject matter, but the way which she spoke to students. She was to be blunt, rude. Also, she was one of the most disorganized teachers I've ever had.
Dr.G is not a good teacher, she gives you a lot of pop quizes and even if you get A's on presintaion, paper but fail quizes she will fail you. Do not take her, won't learn anything, she dos'n know politics a lot, just waisting students $ and time. Worst teacher, do not take her.

Hard to follow. Doesn't appear to know much of anything really. Claim that the US had a democratic government (not a democratic republic mind you but a "majority rule' democracy) Take if you want an easy grade and can give vague brainless answers.
"Dr." Garrett is very smart; however, she does not need to be teaching political science to anybody. She will make you take four pages of notes every class, and she does not explain the subject well. Also, be prepared to do group work. I hated it because I was stuck in a group that was lazy. Take another professor!!!
C. Garrett contradicts herself on almost everything. She never makes a clear indication of what she it looking for in papers or quizzes. She grades everyone differently. Gets mad if you ask her where you stand in the class. Most all assignments, if not all, are group work and you cannot change your group. Garrett is completely unorganized!!!!!!!
People need to stop complaining! This class wasn't that bad. Yes, she is a bit disorganized. She gives a lot of pop quizzes, but thats what is done in class, we can't dictate that. Groups suck but it teaches you to work collectively with others. These are life lessons. She is enthusiastic; complain about if she were boring. I think she's great!!

I tokk her online 2nd half semester class. She was awesome for us. As long as you do your work you'll get a good grade. We could use groups or work alone (since we were online). She was very helpful and quick to reply to my questions. I would take her again if possible. She also made it interesting by letting us choose our own topics for the paper.
Dr. Garrett is not the best teacher, she makes you write 4-5 pager every class and only lectures 5-10 mints. Popquizes every class. If you dont do well 1st half of semester, drop the class or work double harder after midterm. Very selfish, dsn't like questions that we ask. Try taking another teacher if posible to get better grade.
Don't take this class from Dr. Garrett if you actually want to learn about American Government. She makes this into more of a social issues class...She is easy though.
The worst professor at Georgia Perimeter. Class, for the most part, is completely unrelated to American Government. She has no mastery over the material she is teaching which makes the class quite boring. It is an insanely easy A, however, so if that's all you're looking for take this class. If you want to be educated, I would suggest another prof.
Reversed Racism at its finest. Dr. Garret relates every issue to Africa somehow and favors the black students. She would give me a C on everything even though I know the subject well and am an A student. This is not something that I wanted to be right about but aparantly the pols dept. has received plenty of complaints about this issue. Stay away!
i took her during the summer.. 3 STRAIGHT HOURS OF HER!! she's NOT **** but she does give attitude when u ask questions or dont understand something.. class is very boring but interesting ONCE EVERY BLUE MOON.. i wouldnt recommend her but if poli sci is ur thing u shud do great in this class
Easy class! But take the HYBRID! 1 day in class, 1 online. Save the gas! She posts all her notes online and the discussion questions are simple. She only has you read small parts of the book. Read her notes, you'll pass w/ flying colors! If you want an easy A, for this required class, this is the class to take!
There are pop quiz's once a week, so study for those. There aren't any tests besidesthe midterm and the final. She is very hard the first half of the semester. After the midterm, it got much easier. She cares about her students. I didn't do well on the midterm and she helped me and encouraged me that I could do well and I did! I got a B in the clas
If I could curse I would. I thought I was in middle school, and she never even knew my name. Confusing grading system, and pop quizzes every day. I wrote emmaculate papers and got C's on them, probably because im conservative. It was total confusion the whole semester, she just sucks as a teacher. Her lectures were DIRT!!!

This instructor SUCKS! My assumption of online classes is that the instructor understands that your time is valueable. The discussion questions are pointless, the required level of participation is too much, and the assignments were dumb. I had to watch too many videos and write a paper about Wal-Mart??! DO NOT take this class!
Well I can honestly say that enjoyed learning the political process. We did have to read and watch videos but if that didn't open your eyes, then you missed the point. This professor is easy but not enjoyable. Tries to push her political ideologies on you which is a big no no for that class. Does not allow laptops because she swears you will fail if you use one because of the distraction. Refuses to teach the history part of GOV'T because she says it isn't important for that class...are you kidding me?
Ok, she adresses the class as if we are middle school students. Disrespectful (especially when you ask a question). She is **** towards white people. Her lectures are 5-10 mins, makes you write mundane notes the rest of the time from the book, or watch a dumb video about wal mart. Loves to waste time and talk about herself. Do not take her.
I wish I'd read the reviews before taking her - omg, she sucks! On one of her many mundane quizzes, she asked "compare communism and capitalism" and took answers such as, "they both start with a c" or "they both end with an ism" but marked any intelligent answers wrong, which actually say that you cannot compare the 2. is she serious?
She's one of the best professors. She understood that Political Science and History are the most repeated courses, so she makes a huge effort in making sure her students pass which means a lot because many professors don't care. She's great and I highly recommend her!
Her class is CRAZY. She is all over the damn place. If you write a paper too short it's too short, write a little more and its too much. Inconsistent grading, doesn't really value class participation, just brushes you off. But then tells you that you aren't participating. Steer clear.
Dr Garrett is an easy teacher. If you are fresh from high school take her - you will learn much about how to operate in college class. YOU MUST ATTEND CLASS EVERY DAY - sit down toward the front and participate. Study her notes and listen to what she says. She likes people that engage and do not act immature. This class is easy only if you attend everyday. She expects a lot and assigns a lot of reading and homework. She gave pop quizzes every other class over the previous lectures but they would be fairly easy. It's easy to get a good grade as long as you participate and ask questions in class. This was a pretty straightforward class overall.
Make sure you have to show up to class always but you never know what is really expected of you because she is not clear on what she actually wants. She claims that she wants it to be an easy class but it is stressful because of her being all over the place. I would not want to take another class with her ever. So dont take any class from her
Shes a good teacher overall but attendance is MANDATORY and you must not be more than 15 minutes late to class. The Hybrid I believe is the best option with her. She talks a lot though and makes you write like you are in grade school. It was the easiest A i got though and would recommend her to those willing to listen to her instructions.

I took her online class Not awful;not great either. You will do fine if you do the assignments and keep up with the weekly discussions. I missed a paper due to illness, and while she wouldn't accept it late, there was an extra credit assignment that allowed me to make up for it. I still got an A.
Since the first time I took Her Class (Global Issues), Ive been looking for her to be my teacher for ALL of my POL SC classes. Her classes are so easy, she makes it so easy to learn! Fun to study. I Love her! She cool
Dr. Garrett is unorganized and lacks any teaching quality. She never corrects anybody in the class, instead she just rambles aimlessly and finishes with "look it up."However, it is an easy class and it is almost impossible to get anything below a B. If like me, you are a POLS major, do yourself a favor and don't take her.
She makes you work in groups, does not help with any group mediation. She is a hard grader, deducts many points for not writting exactly what she wants you to. I have a 4.0, and had to constantly go see her about low test grades and quizzes. She would correct them and add points, but it is such a hastle to be behind her all the time...
Took her for Intro to POLS - her classes were interesting. We watched quite a few documentaries. She did NOT stick to the syllabus at all. She gives pop quizzes which were difficult but she gives lots of opportunities for extra credit. Read the book, take notes, listen in class. I got an A.
I took her for honors and I loved her. She is really friendly and, when she does lecture, is very clear. However, in my opinion, she is more interested in teaching life values than about American Government. Easy A. If your not a POLS major, I highly recommend her.
Pop quizzes constantly, every week consisted of a new group project, and she barely taught anything she just showed documentaries. She seems to be a great politician and could care less if group members do not pull their weight. Thank god I passed this class and will never have to take her as a teacher again.
I took global issues with Dr Garrett. It was a breeze! Make sure you work well with your group and become friends with them. She offers A TON of extra credit! Easy A! She says: "All my students are A students!" Interesting stuff discussed in class (global issues). Just do not miss class!
I have to admit.. during the semester with her I thought I may get a C in her class. I pretty much failed all the quizzes b/c they were unexpected. However, I did well in group projects and she gives sooo much extra credit that I ended up geting an A. Her midterm and final was easy! group projects are easy as well. I would take her again!
Professor Garrett is probably the best professor I have met and will meet. Her class is not boring and in fact very interesting. You have to be organized and keep up with your readings. I took the hybrid class; we only had one quiz, but like other reviews say, it had bad questions. Did not clearly go over expectations for papers, but her PPT slides helped on tests and she gives a lot of extra credit. Take her if you just want an A, but don't really expect to learn anything.
Dr. Garrett is a wonderful teacher. I thought that this class was going to be boring, but she made it interesting, and I learned a lot. She is one of the best proffessors I have had so far.
Good teacher but very much hard with following what has to be turned it by what day. Exams pretty hard if you do not know the material because you have 1 hour for 50 questions. Extra credit is given if you pass the midterm with a B or higher. Don't responding to emails or phone calls same day. It was interesting discussions though.
I really enjoyed her class,she is an awesome professor. I could have done a lot better without the writing assignments that she gave us after every writing assignment but practice makes perfect and I got better every time. i recommend her, I took Global Issues but heard she does great with American Government as well.
Not such a great teacher. She will do her best to keep you in her class at the beginning of the semester but then goes downhill after the withdraw date is passed. Avoid if possible. Talks more about Nigeria then Global Issues.

Terrible professor. She is unclear on what she wants regarding assignments and she's a tough grader. She's literally all over the place when lecturing and constantly gets off topic.And she doesn't allow extra credit to anyone who fails certain the midterm which is backwards. I recommend pick anyone else.

She is rude and passive aggressive to her students. Almost every assignment is a group assignment. She is an extremely critical grader, grades your STUDY notes, and if you don't study the way she wants you to you will not get credit. Class presentations, lots of quizzes, several (group) research papers. Only bonus is that I somehow got an A.
Great teacher. Be absolutely sure to check your dropbox to see what you have to turn in next. I didn't check and I got a zero on a major assignment! Besides that, the class is challenging, but fun. Participate in the discussions. You get chances for extra credit. I recommend her!
Took her class for a summer mini semester, she was clear cut with her instructions and her requirements. There was a lot of work but not to much considering the class was a 16 week class squeezed into 3 12 weeks. She also end up giving a few extra credit assignments. I ended up with a A+.
One of the best classes ever. Lots of extra credit (do it. it's not hard.) absolutely do your reading there a quizzes and she's a tough grader so be very detailed. Every project is a group project so pick your partners wisely. She is willing to look over your projects before the due date and give you detailed notes. Didn't have to take the final!!
Content and structure was fine but her demeanor made it almost intoloerable. You have to take notes "her way", cannot write at certain points when she is lecturing, cannot bring your laptop for notes and she is very condescending. Tough grader on written assignments, glad the tests were multiple choice so they were not "up for interpretation".

Tough grader on papers. Have her proof read a draft or you may get a C based on technicalities. Questions on tests are worded confusingly. Takes a couple days to reply to email. The content was interesting and you will get an A if you do every single discussion post and assignment. Two chapters most weeks for reading. Two textbooks.
The content of the class is good. Lots of reading but material is very interesting! But the teacher's attitude is inexcusable. I had minimal direct communication with Dr. Garrett during this class but what little I had, she was condescending and argumentative. I made an A in the class but wish I had taken any other professor.
She was a great teacher with student with disabilities. She could read her email a couple more times a day, but one way or another she gets back to you as soon as she can. You have to keep up though. It is very easy to miss an assignment if you do not know how to navigate around ICollege. Over all, she's a great teacher. I hope I can have her agai

She's a good actress, yeah seriously. She tries to act out the definitions of a term to give us an example. That's like the only good thing about her. She's nice but really strict. Sometimes her nice personality feels negative. It seems like she's being indirectly rude but with a "nice" tone. Even if you do take her, be ready to face the pressure.
BE SURE TO DO YOUR WORK, ALL TESTS MATTER SHE TAKES ALL GRADES INTO CONSIDERATION. DONE MESS AROUND. SHE IS FUN HOWEVER CAN BE RUDE AT TIMES. AFTER THE MIDTERMS SHE ONLY REFERS TO HER A" STUDENTS. SHE IS FORGETFULL , SHE DOES NOT RESPOND TO EMAILS. PASS ALL HER WORK WITH AN A" TILL AFTER MIDTERM, YOU CAN SKIP FINALS.
She gives alot of reading, her disscussions are good. If you are taking her online POLS 2401 class, she only gives you an hour on a 50 question exam. Its worth 30% of your grade too. Kind of sucks especially if you dont know the answer right away.
Dr. Garrett was overall a decent processor, just a lot of stuff was done carelessly and near the end of the semester, four additional papers were added ( on top of the three that were on the syllabus ) when there as only a few days of class left which was inconvenient.

Good: She's a very nice person with a good heart. Her service learning projects are a great way to give back to the community. Lots of extra credit. Problem: Making students take lecture notes where you have to write down her "magic" words AND book notes in a specific format for a grade is a bit of an overkill. Lots of group projects too.
She is pretty average to me. My only issues were that she didn't seem to be too tech savvy which can be challenging when taking an online class. She made an error on one of my assignments and reduced points, so be sure to check your work. I didn't really have to open any of my textbooks really - she posts a lot of the articles we read and her PP.

I would never take this class again with this teacher. If you want to pass pick a different teacher.
98% of the class failed. Really bad experience not suggested.
I took her class without knowing about rate my professor. It was the worse mistake of my life. She was so rude and never spoke to anyone with respect l. Its been years since i took it and to this day shes the worst teacher ive ever had. I have never asked for help and felt like a problem. I am very good at these classes but she made it horrible.
Dr. Garrett was one of my favorite professors. I had the pleasure of taking two of her courses, global issues and polo-sci 2101. As a professor she engages her students, making them see different points of view. We had to create our own political party as one project and she paired people who had completely opposing views together. It was great! 10
