Curt is a terrific teacher and a great guy! Takes almost all the test questions right from the homework so...Do The Homework!!!! Should be able to get a decent grade if you make a good effort. Has a good sense of humor, and keeps it light. He doesn't act like the only thing in the world is math.
Mr. B is a very face-paced teacher. I found it hard to keep myself on the same page as him. He moves fast, so if you have any questions, just ask. He uses the text book for every class, and picks the test questions right out of the book. He's a pretty funny guy. If you stay on task, attend class, and do the homework, you should be set!
Curt is seriously the BEST instructor I have ever had. His is amazing. The best quality he possesses is his concern and thoughtfulness of every student in the class. He also makes the class fun.
Curt is a great guy and an excellent teacher. It's obvious that he loves his job and cares that his students learn. He is also very funny. You will work hard and learn a lot in his class.
He's a good guy, tries to make math fun, but how fun is math? He's really lenient, too lenient, if you argue about a problem, he'll give you credit. He explains things really well so everybody understands. He's good at what he does.
Explains things very well. Tests are a little tough - make sure you study for them. Overall great teacher.
Great teacher, he is really nice, hes good at showing/explaining how to do the work.. the tests and quizzes are not too hard but you should prolly study.. it can get really boring though..
Curt is an AMAZING professor. I have taken this class for the second time and before I had him, I failed miserably. He is willing to go above and beyond to make sure his students comprehend the material. If you take advantage of the help he gives, show up to class and do the homework, you'll be fine.
Excellent Prof!
Curt is a great teacher. He cares about his students and helps you get the best grade possible. He explains everything very clearly and is very helpful. I loved this teacher. He is highly recommended.
great at explaining calculus. great teacher but expects you to work hard.
You could not ask for a better teacher. Curt wants you to succeed and will do anything he can to make it happen. Excellent instructor, you can follow each equation exactly as he diagrams it on the white board. The best instructor I have ever had!
Great teacher, just do the homework and you can't go wrong
Great teacher, just do the homework.
I'm currently taking Precalc with this guy, and he is awesome (and a hunk). He tries his best to help his students learn while making the classroom enjoyable (for being a math class) with his sarcastic humor. His tests come straight from the homework, so just do the work and ask questions if you don't understand and you will succeed in this class!
LOVED this teacher! I was never good at math in highschool, and I ended up with an A- in his class. He explains things very well, and gives good notes! Just write down what he writes on the bored, and do the homework. Tests come from the homework, and a lot of quizzes you can use your notes! Highly recommend taking him! Amazing teacher and very fun
Great teacher and extremely helpful!
I liked him as a teacher. He was helpful and always was willing to answer any question you had to ask. And his humor about his officemate and little stories in between were funny and kept the class interesting. I would like to have him as a teacher again.
This is one top notch prof. He explains every thing to a T. If you do your homework and practrice the pre test you will do fine. Take math with Curt !!!!!
He is a great teacher. He has homework but he doesn't grade it. He explains multiple ways to do problems and is willing to stay late to try and help you if need be. He is very funny and it was a pleasure to take his class
Great instructor! Spends his time explaining each topic thoroughly, you will not fail if you apply yourself! His office hours are very helpful.
Fantastic Teacher! Explains things very well. Makes you work a lot though.
Curt is the man, I didn't want to take a pre-calc course but I needed something that would transfer as two math courses. So I kinda got stuck taking this. Turned out to be a great experience. He is so helpful and it's really on you to do your homework. I wish I could of had him for every math course I took.
Good instructor. Willing to help if you have questions. Gives partial credit and his tests don't deviate too far from the homework.
Great class. Learned a ton!
Curt was an amazing professor! I dread meath and until I took it with him I really thought it was the worst subject ever. He is very helpful and makes class fun by telling jokes. He takes time explaining concepts and offers time to go over any homework questions at the start of each class. I wish he taught 107! :(
Calc II not the easiest class but with Curt the class wasn't that bad. Explains things clearly and stresses to do the homework which is relatively similar to the tests. Overall, good class & good professor.
Likely my favorite teacher at GRCC. Constantly sprinkling humor into his lectures to keep things fun. Rewards hard work by basing tests on the homework, and being generous with extra time if you need it. The number one way to succeed in this class is to do your homework (even though it isn't graded)! Lectures are almost always crystal clear.
Awesome
Best teacher I've had at GRCC. Tests are based on material covered in class. Class is important yet not mandatory and always is very helpful and humorous.
Baragers a blast, jokes are a bit lame at times lol, but overall he explains things preety well, do the hw, and you'll pass the tests.
My favorite teacher at GRCC without exception. He makes Math class fun. This was a difficult subject, but Professor Baragar explains it well and makes it as fun as possible. Generous with test time. Just make sure you do all the homework!
I hate math with a firey passion, but Curt Baragar was easy to understand, cares a lot about his students, and has a dry humor that definitely makes class fun. He is by far the best teacher I've had, including throughout my high school years, because not only did I have fun but I felt like I actually learned a lot.
Awesome professor! He helped me to understand algebra in a way I had never been able to in the past.
Not that good of a teacher.
Great professor. I took him as a senior in high school through early college and he made calculus a breeze. The class gets long if you have to 2 hours 3 times a week, but he gives a break and usually lets you out early and he doesn't get upset if you leave or never show up. Everything is based on your quizzes and tests and you get to drop one quiz
Excellent! Expains things in a way that makes them easy to understand. Expects you to work hard though. Worked with me and some others every day for an hour before class, which helped A LOT.
Great instructor! His class was by far the best I've taken at GRCC. He is always willing to give help before and after class. Do the homework, even though it is not required, and study the quizzes.
He explains calculus in a way that is clear/entertaining. He worked as an engineer before becoming a professor and will apply calc to situations that he has encountered over the years. I highly recommend him if you want a good grade while also understanding the subject. However if you enjoy boring/painful lectures, he's not the professor for you.
Really great teacher. Breaks everything down. usually get out of class a few minutes early and he will take the time to explain things very well. I had to retake MA 98 but I have a solid 85 in the class if you do the homework and take notes you'll do just fine.
Curt is an outstanding and gifted professor. He needs to be cloned so that he can teach the entire department by himself. The only students that don't do well in his class are the total slackers.
Very good professor. He will put in the time and effort to make sure you understand the topic. A Very gifted teacher!
really enjoyed the encouragement!
Curt is a fantastic teacher and is very positive no matter what the class atmosphere is.
one of the best math teachers at GRCC.
Knows how to teach and knows his stuff inside out. He knows how to get to the very basics of math and work his way up. Put in a good amount of effort and he will help you along the way.
Curt instilled into me a passion of mathematics and taught me how attention to detail will carry you far in this world. If you put in the time and listen, you will do extremely well in his course.
Curt will inspire you to do great things.
Explains things in a way that makes calculus easier to understand. You have to be willing to work on homework consistently to keep up. Always willing to answer questions before and after class. Great atmosphere in the classroom.
Best Math professor at GRCC, made calculus very fun and not to hard!
This is an awesome professor who will explain what you need to know and how to do it if you give him the time. More than willing to work with you to make sure you learn the material. Really a great guy and a great professor to have. I would recommend him to anyone for any class that he teaches.
Very awesome teacher. Homework is optional but, highly recommended. Very clear and always willing to help with questions no matter how dumb.
Really good professor. Knows the material well and is very thorough in his explanations. Slightly amusing as well
Great teacher!!!! Really easy to get along with and understand
He is a great professor and will truly take the time to give you feedback and get a good grade if you want it. He also gives out a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Curt is truly one of the best professors i've ever had. He is so helpful, and his teaching method makes the information click as it should. Lots of extra credit opportunities available and his lectures aren't boring at all. I am horrible with numbers but i passed his class with an A. I would 100% recommend him to anyone who has to take Statistics
Best teacher i have ever had. 2 hour class went by quickly, knows people cant focus for that long so he tells jokes and gives breaks. does take home quizzes and tests. very easy going guy, will help you, doesnt rush through things. made statistics easy. nice behind too ;)
Curt was an amazing professor! I took this class in the summer and was extremely worried at first. Curt somehow managed to get me to understand statistics and stay interested during class time. Although homework is not mandatory if you want to pass do it. His quizzes and test he sometimes allows take home and notes. He is a tough grader but helpful
He was my favorite instructor I've had in all of my college career so far, and I've never liked math. I really appreciated how much he wanted us to do well. He doesn't go too fast or slow in his lectures. I just love him. He deserved better from me, though. I know I didn't study as much as I should have. If I had, I could have easily got an A.
Nicest guy in the world. Manages to make Calculus not a complete bore. Expect to do a lot of homework; it's not assigned, but you'll need the practice. Not an easy class. You WILL need a textbook. Only grades quizzes and tests, so make sure you're ready for them.
For a math class, he made it pretty easy. Gives homework but doesn't collect it. Never did it and still got a good grade. Grade is only based off tests and quizes which are just like what he does in class. He explains things well, sometimes too much. definitely recommend him. Just look over stuff a little and you should do fine.
Awesome dude that everybody should take! Personable and funny, but really gets the stuff you need to know acrossed when needed. Tells you exactly what's on the tests by the questions on the back of the chapters. No homework assigned, but it's recommended. Tests are a little difficult, but no harder than your typical class.
Curt is a muscular, bald man with a goatee. He tells amazing stories when the class gets bored. If you do the homework (not collected) and come to each class, you should have zero problem. He will go over something as many times as needed. He made me fall in love with Calculus!!!
Curt was truly a really good professor. He managed to keep a good balance of having a fun class, yet doing everything needed to be done. I enjoyed the semester in his class very much and would recommend him to anyone.
I was never that good or into math until I had taken this class. Curt is hilarious and he explains things in a way that everyone can understand. Sometimes moves a little fast so be sure to pay attention. He's always willing to go over more examples if needed. Do the homework! It will help you in the long run
If you're not a good tester, do not take this professor. Quizzes and tests are the only graded aspects of the class. Homework, participation and attendance count for nothing. He is a tough grader that doesn't seem to give partial credit. He is thorough in his teaching and funny, but his class is very hard.
Tests and quizzes are what matters. But many quizzes were take home or open book & one test was even take home. Really funny guy but goes super quick through things. Easy to understand, you'll pass if you do the homework.
Curt is honestly a funny guy. He teaches the material fairly well, however, DO YOUR HOMEWORK, ASK QUESTIONS, AND STUDY. I thought I did very well on the first test bu ended up getting an 81. Wasn't happy. You'll notice that he kinda is a tough grader so study and take your time on the tests and you'll be fine. Get tutoring help on the second floor
At first I was nervous taking this during the summer, but with Curt was the best choice for stats in the summer. All of the quiz and test questions come from the homework. Open note and partner quizzes. Had one take home test. Very understanding and wants everyone to succeed. Do the homework, review the problems in the notes, and you'll be fine.
My favorite math teacher i've had thus far. Do and understand the homework, and the tests are simple, he will tell you that himself. There are no surprises in his class and his lectures are fun.
No surprises on tests or quizzes. Pay attention, do the work, you will pass.
He carefully covers all the knowledge you need. He answers all the questions you have. He grades tests and quizzes with reasonable corrections (it's hard to get a perfect score). Don't skip class/test/quiz and remember to do homework assignments before taking tests. If you do so, you can easily pass or even get an A!
Curt is really funny which makes Calculus more bearable. He assigns a lot of homework, but none of it is for credit, however; his tests/quizzes are made up of homework questions so it'd be smart to do them (I learned that late). Sometimes he drags out lectures and doesn't get straight to the point but better than not understanding something.
Professor Baragar has a great sense of humor. He does not check homework, but most of his test questions come directly from the homework. Great at explaining the material.
Great teacher and class! He does not require you to do homework assignments, but I would definitely suggest doing the unit work after every class! He goes over the homework and is clear to explain what will be on each test. Overall, I loved having him as a teacher, he kept things interesting.
Curt is an amazing professor. He truly cares about his students and he's very responsive through email if you have questions. Statistics is difficult and there's so much to learn, but he teaches the subject so well. DO THE HOMEWORK. It's not graded but the quizzes and tests all relate to the homework, and your grade is 100% based on quizzes/tests.
Your grade is based only off tests and quizzes, but he takes problems exactly from the homework assigned and uses them. He often allows you to use notes and/or other people for quizzes and will sometimes tell you exactly what homework problem will be on a quiz. If you understand the homework, you are guaranteed an A.
Hes not very strict with attendance, but missing class will effect your grade purely on the material being taught. Going to office hours when necessary will make a huge difference. This is my second time taking a class he has taught.
Curt makes the class very easy and gives many opportunities for you to boost your grade such as open note quizzes, a take home test, drops the lowest test, and cheat sheet for the final. His lectures are easy to understand. He tries to make jokes that aren't the best but besides that I would definitely take him again!
350 characters isn't enough to describe my amazing experience with Curt. Possibly the best Professor I've ever had throughout all of college and high school. Can't stress enough to take his class. Stats was naturally a little harder for me, but taking it with him made this class extremely manageable. Offers 1 take-home test, and take home quizzes.
Curt is one of the best professors at GRCC. He has quizzes and tests like every other class, but has handouts for each lecture (almost all), and they are very easy to follow. Email him or ask him questions at anytime and he'll always have an answer. I love Curt! One of the best and most knowledgeable at GRCC!
Curt is awesome! He makes the class so you get the point. The homework is the hardest thing that you will run into in his class. The tests are pretty much homework problems tweaked so make sure you have those down. Only grades quizzes and tests so you have to have a good grade on those to ace his class.
Curt is one of the best professors that I've encountered at GRCC! He genuinely tries his hardest to make sure every student is able to understand the material in the easiest way possible. If you come to class and really pay attention and do the work, you'll pass with no issues. The tests are just homework questions that have been adjusted.
Honestly one of the best math teachers I've ever had! His class is nicely structed and the test/exam is from all the homework he assigns. The homework can be a little tough but he'd always be open to answering any questions and doesn't make anything confusing and will try his hardest to get you to understand! Very caring great professor!
Really nice and puts humor into his class. He makes it really clear on what he expects out of you and if you put in the work (a lot of homework), you should have no problems. He makes sure that everyone has an understanding of the content. He has good office hours and ends every class with "if you have any questions, please stay and talk to me!"
Mr. Baragar is a great professor! He breaks down subjects/topics if you don't understand, just ask him! He's super casual, believes in every class to succeed, and is overall understanding. I definitely would have him again as a professor :)
Only quizzes and tests are graded, but as long as you understand the homework, you should be good. Class is structured well, with good lectures.
Math is not one of my strengths. If you put the effort into learning the material, Curt will make the time to help you succeed. He tries to keep the class engaged and the mood light. I hope I can take one of his courses again. Homework is not mandatory, but make sure you do it.
Great Prof!!! Stats is such a hard class that be prepared to study a TON!!!!! Take advantage of the math lab and office hours.
It's an easy A if you follow the lecture notes (he gives handouts). He also allows some of the handouts to be used in quizzes and tests. The only thing that is graded are tests and quizzes which are based off out the HW. He would also try to make the class interesting which show how much he cares about the students paying attention.
He's a very fun prof who understands when kids need a break. Halfway through his lectures, he gives 5 minute breaks. He always gives a heads up on quizzes and shows you exactly what to study. If you do good on your final, he'll replace your lowest test grade with it, or whatever benefits you. He's a good prof and always grades to benefit you
This is a professor that cares about his students. Curt makes statistics fun and communicates exactly what is expected of you. Do the homework and you will be fine.
I've had Curt for algebra and statistics. Super funny professor. You get a 5-minute break halfway into class to go on your phone, and he lets you leave 10 minutes early. Super understanding if you miss a quiz and need to take it another time. Passionate about teaching and goes over any homework questions and test/quiz questions. *Homework optional*
I don't have enough characters to describe how great he is. Literally so great at explaining and teaching, very involved, always accessible, do the homework(it helps a lot!), very funny, makes class enjoyable, corny jokes, makes class fun, easy test, easy quizzes, great lectures, gives 5 minute breaks, very helpful, GO TO THE TUTORING SESSIONS !!!!
I can't emphasize this enough, TAKE THIS PROF!! He's hilarious and has so much energy. His motto is just do the homework and you'll do great in the class. He takes the problems from the homework and puts them on the tests/quizzes. He's so nice and is great at answering questions!!! One of my favorite professors! Makes math so much better :)
Curt was awesome! He was respectful and helped a lot of my peers. DO THE HOMEWORK. Final grades are based on the test and quiz grades from though out the semester. If you are a bad test taker, recommend to get extra help in the math lab.
Curt is a great professor and person. He teaches in a way that is very clear and will answer any questions happily. He cracks jokes all the time. He assigns homework but doesnt grade it, but it will help your test grades if you do it. Basically only 7 quizzes and 3 tests so you have to do good on them! Not too hard overall just keep up on material
The final is easy as long as you write good notes on the 1 sheet he gives you for it. Homework is not mandatory but it helps a lot for quizzes and tests. Does a lot of dad jokes and gives 5 minute breaks every hour which is amazing. (Should be mandatory for all teachers). Quiz and tests are also pretty easy if you do the homework and pay attention.
He's a good teacher and he doesn't give to much homework. All the tests he gives he goes over to make sure the class has a good understanding of everything. I would take him again.
His exceptionally high rating on this site is well deserved. I had never enjoyed a math class in my life before I took Statistics with Professor Baragar. He explains completed material so well in a way that makes it easy for everyone to understand. Hes always cracking jokes. MAKE SURE YOU DO THE HOMEWORK! Not graded but necessary to learn.
Pretty easy homework isn't graded but if you don't do it you'll be lost on the quiz/tests as he takes problems from homework and modifies them a little for the quizzes.
Curt is a very kind professor who truly cares about his students. He tried to keep class light and fun. Homework wasn't required but I suggest doing it if you want to pass. I would absolutely take his class again, hands down the best professor I've had so far
Great professor and person, but HE ONLY GRADES BY QUIZZES AND TESTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Which, if you're not good at math, will certainly drag you down. However, he made lectures easy to understand and many of it was homework problems. HW wasn't mandatory but as I said, they will be on the test.
This was such an amazing professor. Def take him if you want to learn, but beware the tests and quiz's are all you get when it comes to grades so your grades will plummet pretty quick.
Professor Baragar brings joy to his class. I always enjoy going to his class because of the jokes. He is a very good teacher and helps you understand the material.
THE GOAT!!!!!!! Sir.Curt, is honestly just the epitome of a great professor. He is constantly cracking jokes that genuinely make me laugh. Would 100% take him again fo any class, frfr.
I was a little nervous taking this calculus class since I haven't done much math in a couple years, but Curt kindly reviews old algebra material and makes sure everyone understands. Overall, he teaches for the average student, so as long as you just pay attention, do the homework, and review for tests/quizzes, I genuinely think its easy A.
My easiest math class and the homework was not graded. Not as many quizzes as most of my other classes. He likes to crack jokes and he's is very nice and understanding.
He makes sure everyone understands the material. He is very accessible outside of the classroom. Easy to talk to and ask for help from.
He's a really cool guy and says really corny jokes. He's very good at going at a good pace and is happy to hear questions. I like that he applies math to the real world. Lots of papers to keep track of, but they will save you later for exams. Most of the questions on tests are exactly like his homework.. Honestly my favorite math professor ever!
Grade is made up of your average quiz grade, 3 tests, and 1 final. Very easy to do well in class, most quizzes were take home, tests and final problems came directly from homework or past notes. He tells you exactly what to expect on each test. For notes he gives you a worksheet to use. Cares for his students, is funny, and wants you to succeed!
Amazing professor, very nice and caring, lots of bad jokes but very fun to make math and lectures for fun. Only grades tests and quizzes, takes best ones to help grade, HW is for study only, not graded. Lectures are great with notes and examples, highly Recommend.
Curt is a legend around GRCC. He is respected by students and staff alike and should be exempt from having to sit through another horrendous staff meeting/staff development ever again! This is my second time taking a class taught by Curt and he always has the student's learning experience in mind. Just maybe don't try to use the Pi Pickup Line!!
Wants to see you succeed. Do your homework and you'll be fine. Every test/quiz is homework problems with different numbers. Kept energy up in class and made sure to give a break half way through class so you could stretch and not miss anything. Funny. Great vibe. Very kind. Made sure everything was understood before moving on. Easy get help from.
I was so afraid to take statistics after being out of school for so many years. I'm glad I checked this website out first before picking a professor. Curt was absolutely awesome! He broke everything down that was easy-ish to understand. As long as you stay on top of the homework you'll do well in his class.
Managed to make Calc II interesting by constantly drawing connections between textbook concepts and real-world applications
Professor Baragar is the best professor I've ever had! Each class is truly enjoyable and his handouts make learning the concepts clear. If you show up to class every day and do the (fairly average amount of) homework, you should have no problem. He is very caring, kind, and accessible in person or by email. Truly one of the greats at GRCC!
He's very good at making sure everything is explained thoroughly and doesn't throw surprises at you on the test. If you do the homework he assigns and pay attention in class then you'll do fine on the tests.
He is such a good teacher! For each unit, everybody gets a note packet, which he explains and completes with you. He explains everything that will be on tests before you take them. Ask him about any hw problem, and he'll explain it on the board. Even though hw isn't graded, make sure to do it, helps tremendously with tests and quizzes.
Curt is by far the best professor I have ever had! I took both Calculus 1 and 2 with him. The tests are very straightforward just by being homework problems that are slightly tweaked, and he uses packets for notes which makes note taking incredibly simple. He truly cares for his students and has some of the best dad jokes you'll ever hear!
Prof Baragar's lectures are very engaging and he has an entertaining personality! He is open to questions about the material and has a sense of humor. Math isn't my specialty, but I enjoyed his class! The homework is advised, but not mandatory. He allowed a cheat sheet for the final test and did a lot of work with calculators. 100% would reccomend!
This was by far my favorite professor. He adds humor to the class and somehow makes math not boring! Only takes grades for quizzes and tests though, homework doesnt count.
An excellent math professor, is very witty and funny and you can tell he genuinely enjoys teaching and enjoys math. He's very understanding and kind and fun to talk to. Homework is not graded and he always takes time at the start of class to go over any questions on the homework. Class is not too fast paced and he is very go with the flow.
Prof. Curt is an awesome teacher who makes stats fun with his corny jokes. The lectures are engaging, and the homework really helps prep for tests. unstuck AI was a game-changer for study sessions - highly recommend!
Very clear expectations set from day 1. Homework optional but highly encouraged. Grade is completely test and quiz based. Good guy, makes a 2 hour lecture go by much faster than you would expect. Will take another class with him if available.
Best mathematics professor at GRCC.
Great guy. The lectures are very dumbed down though, so the Stewart textbook may throw you some questions you need to research yourself. Calc 2 itself is difficult, so i had some issues with that, but I don't think it was entirely his fault. Expect a new section from book each 2 days, and to complete last section by then.
I have never liked and disliked a professor as much as him. He's a tough grader and doesn't really go over exam expectations. Also didn't give us our grade until the end of semester, so you just have to pray and hope you passed. He is a very caring professor, though, and takes time to answer your questions. Very funny and makes lectures engaging.
There is no homework but I do recommend doing them since the tests and quizzes all contain questions directly from the homework. There are 4 tests including the final each is worth 20% of your grade making up 80% the last 20% is from 4-7 quizzes. The tests and quizzes are both not proctored and tests have a 5 hour time limit once they are opened.
