A lot of people give this guy a hard time, because he's kinda a weirdo, and he gets all excited about teaching accounting, but it's a lot better than a teacher who just does powerpoint. Hard class, learned alot though.

People do have a hard time in his class since he isn't very stupid friendly...Although I haven't gotten my grade from last semester yet i know I earned whatever grade I get :( OK teacher, atleast he's happy in accounting at 8AM :) Might be drugs lol.

Curt is one of the most energetic professors I have ever had. His lectures are informative and he really pounds the material into your head. He offers big time extra credit if you need some help. Enjoyable class!

This is a tough class, but I learned so much. I would rather have Curt than any other because you WILL learn a ton. Hard final. Go to every class or else he will patronize you.

DeBerg was a good teacher, he was tough but I left the class knowing everything he taught us. You have to come to class everyday, gotta read the material, because he might just call on you. Hes the creepiest looking professor ive ever had. I did learn a lot though! He knows what he is talking about. I thought the class was okay. He likes to emberass people and make you look like an idiot - so do your homework!

This guy is not that bad... he gives you the real-world not some high school bull****. College is supposed to be hard to get the losers out of the system and let the smart and strong stay. Change your major to something else if you don't have the brains for business.

I think he's a great teacher if he can make something as boring as accounting somewhat interesting. He brings enthusiasm everyday and keeps students interested.

I thought he was a really good teacher. The class can be fairly tough but he makes it interesting because he enjoys it so much. He's very helpful for office hours so ask for help.And just come to class he makes confusing topics in the book much easier.

I took this class a year before and had the worst student teacher ever I completely failed! But with Deberg I have learned a lot and I am doing so much better than I ever thought I would do! If you have to take this class you are going to want to take it from this teacher! trust me.

this guy actually dropped me from his class in the second week and somehow never realized that he was still grading all my assignments. I had to petition to get credit for the class. very enthusiastic though. I actually ran into him in Paris on the Eiffel Tower. weird coincidence!! he will help you at office hours

Accoutning is boring anyways and Deberg atleast attempts to make it interesting. I would definately recomend him and learn to use excel.

He's changed teaching method since older reviews were written. He taught a diff way by making everything computer based and the internet was our "textbook." Says not to take notes cuz he sends it all to you via email. Write everything down anyway, trust me. Hands on learning - used ALL excel for hw. Points out ppl who do super well. Easy if u do hw

Fantastic teacher... one of the few professors in college that actually care enough to really try. Innovative teaching style which also makes things fun.

He is a very good teacher. He made a dull subject reasonable interesting. There is no book, He believes that more relevant information can be found through internet searches. So, if you do not have a piece of information, there is no way to find it. He grades on a true curve. This means that a fixed number will fail. Overall very good but very hard

Attendance is essentially mandatory due to no book. It can be frustrating to keep up if you miss class for the same reason. He teaches well, even though he can be condescending at times. He can't stand people that text/laptop/sleep. He will not hesitate to kick you out if you annoy him. Aside from that I wouldn't take this class from anyone else.

Really a great teacher. Always energetic when coming to class. Doesnt use a text book but does excel demos in class and then send all the info to you via email. Repeats things throughout the entire semester to ensure you remember everything. Overall great teacher!!

Great teacher. The skills you learn are applicable to real jobs as opposed to abstract, dated concepts from a textbook.

He deeply enjoys what he teaches and makes the class a very enjoyable place to learn, while also setting easy to follow but strict rules that are quite sensible.

Good teacher tried to relate to students as best he could. Cracked funny jokes at the expense of the unusual students and talked about Sierra Nevada pale ale.

Best Accounting teacher i have had by far. keeps his lessons very interesting and the best part of his class is that we use excel spread sheets, no more journal, ledgers or debits and credits. highly recommended.

Accounting is not meant to be an easy subject. If you do your homework, go to class, and actually listen, you'll pass this class easily. He really knows his stuff and curves. I highly recommend him!

Really knows his stuff, doesn't require a textbook, doesn't teach useless information. Really improved my excel spreadsheet skills, and is very reasonable and enthusiastic about the subject. Acct is a terrible subject and he makes it doable. Highly reccomend him over other accounting 201 professors.

I thought he was an amazing teacher. If you actually pay attention, take notes, and come to class, you will find this course easy.

The best prof I've had at Chico. Extremely gifted teacher, and very concerned about student success. Best choice for ACCT 201, easily.

Overall, Curt was a great professor and was very enthusiastic about the course. He teaches with an extreme passion for accounting. His teaching style was different than the other accounting 201 professors so it made it a little bit difficult when studying for a common final and not his own. Go to class, excel based, no textbook required.

Great professor. Go to class and do the homework! Exams are based mostly on homework. He's very enthusiastic and helpful. One of the best professors at Chico State for sure.

hes a vicious yet awesome guy. he has a lot of swagger and loves beer. dont get on his bad side he'll roast you. hes a thug with a doctorate. dont be late

Curt loves accounting and expects everyone else to also. I did like him as a teacher, but I had a some trouble with his teaching style; all over the place and goes on about random things that are necessary to talk about. He is a pretty easy grader and gives you opportunities to gain more points for assignments.

His class made me not totally hate, nay, almost... enjoy... accounting. ACCOUNTING! Need I say more?

Great Professor. Explains everything very clearly and will always welcome you to his office hours for more help. Funny guy and always jokes with the class. Doesnt use the textbook AT ALL, all work is off of excel which is GREAT. Take him for Acct 201!!

Curt is a great teacher and a funny guy. He teaches you concepts on a basic level so even a monkey can understand them. He loves using Excel, so brush up on your skills. Accounting is hard at first to everyone, but Curt is by far the easiest teacher.

Definitely recommend him. He is very enthusiastic and makes you pay attention during class. He doesn't make you buy a textbook. Very humorous and gives you real life examples to understand because is a CPA. Accounting will obviously be hard but he gives you hw that helps you learn the material and is very helpful if you need to ask questions.

Curt is a great teacher, honestly just go to class, do the homework, and go to office hours. ACCT is tough but just pay attention and you will be fine. I enjoyed this course

Took acc201 with Murdock at first. Got a D+ then I retook it the next spring semester of 2013 and passed the class with a solid 94%. Does it mean the class is easy? NO! But curt really makes you interested in one of the most boring subjects you could take! He's the modern Pachioli of Accounting. I would highly recommend him! Just don't be late.

I wish he taught managerial accounting!

A pretty decent man, very straight forward, very helpful ,clear and show you how to do everything from A to Z. He uses the practicing way of learning. the more you practice the more you learn. Always keep up with doing the homeworks and you will be fine.

I truly enjoyed Professor Deberg as a teacher and as a person. He had such a passion for the subject and wanted everyone to succeed. Accounting is hard but if you put in the time, Deberg will make sure you do the best you possibly can. Don't take it with anyone else! His method of teaching is a different than the rest but its the best.

This class was one of the best courses I have taken at Chico. Not only do you learn accounting, but you are able to learn useful Excel skills that are applicable to the real world. His innovative teaching methods serve as a good base for all business majors, including accounting. People who have given bad reviews probably failed the class. Take it!

Great teacher, but tough material! Not having a textbook also makes the course challenging; however, I learned more in Curt's class than any other class!

didn't seem to hard of a class, all test questions came from the videos and the daily quizzes really help with retaining the info. no book either so you save some money.

Funny, passionate, and enthusiastic. His teaching style is awesome, he knows technology (like MS Excel) will be used in "real world" accounting so he teaches you how to use it. You can learn at your own pace at home with his videos. Homework takes around 2 hours sometimes. Hard, but you'll be a beast at accounting when done.

I'm sure there's a lot of people who don't like Coach or his attitude. I personally think that he is a great teacher, and has influenced me to major in accounting. He teaches the information clearly, and if you do the outside of class work, you should pass with an A. You will learn a lot in this class. I'll be taking a class by him again if I can.

I love coach! His jokes and his teaching style, one quiz before each class basically, and his SI students are helpful. And he sets up SAGE for 40 extra credit. It really helps your grade.

Sytraightforward man, What can you say hes a business man. He is very knowledgeable and cares for his students. Heavy on classwork. Overall he gives good oppurtunities to his students.
