Very nice, uses ALOT of class discussions, very funny, and keeps everyone involved. Class flies by in what feels like 15 minutes. Very helpful if you need his help, too

I love this guy. So down to earth and really knows how the keep his class interested. He'll make you laugh atleast once a class guaranteed.

Curt is sooo awesome. I love his unique vocab and amazing teaching styles. He gets to the jist of the unit and leaves out all of the "jargin". He's so funny and extremely nice. He's easy to talk to if you have a problem and he doesn't make you feel dumb or anything.

He's a real critical thinker and encourages his students to do the same, and makes us form our own opinions. He usually makes sure to teach both sides to every point of view. Uses alot of class discussions about things that connect with our daily lives. Overall, he's great and I will try to take more of his classes.

The worst prof that I have ever had (over the course of two degrees). Draws his lectures from the Colbert and Jon Stewart shows. So boring and easy that it was a joke. Didn't learn a thing.

WOW. This guy works from outside the box. He encourages us to think in very different ways and raises issues we don't often think enough about. I see many things very differently now, and I'm grateful. He shows how we should be aware of the messages we get every day. Totally respects alternative points of view and cares about his students.

Curt is a very good professor. I would have never considered going forward in sociology if it weren't for him. He provides 2 sides of an argument and isn't biased. He couldn't be any clearer than he is now. It doesn't help he's funny and very nice, he is willing to help you. Looking forward to taking a class with him again.

Took his intro to sociology class in my first back to school (10 years off after highschool). He is incredibly helpful, entertaining, approachable and personable. He was recommended to me, and I recommend him to everyone. He is so helpful as well! Best experience I could have ever asked for. The only time I used my text book was for definitions.

I've taken classes with many profs at UW. He's the best. Sometimes a bit biased, but who isn't? He tries hard not to be. Fair marker. Excellent lectures. Absolutely excellent. If you are looking for great experience, take any class with him. I almost went into sociology because of him (I'm a physics student :s)

He's the best prof that you will find at this university. In my two years at UW, I learned more in his class than anything else. He is very unbiased. He WANTS you to pass, and doesn't enjoy giving his exams. His exams are very fair as long as you show up to lecture. He's also hilarious. He's the one who inspired me to take Sociology as my minor.

Loved this class despite it's readings. Very interesting lectures, he gives information to add to textbook readings for greater understanding instead of just reiterating. Very entertaining and I also felt like I learned a lot.

Curt is hilarious. Frequently makes the entire class burst into a roar of laughter. But apart from that, he is also insightful and truly loves what he teaches. Very respectful towards students and will always encourage students to share their stories. The best of the best.

Professor Pankratz is an nice guy and truly wants to make you laugh. This is a full year course and I've had 1, 500 word essay, no midterm or tests, just the exam. There's a lot of content but don't rely on the text book to help you it's basically a story book. Take a lot of notes and constantly re-read them as there are many interesting points.

I went into uw to teach history. He changed my whole plans wuth his awesome insight that I want to teach sociology. I took his intro last year and loved it. He opened up the world to me that I never even knew nor considered. Thank you Curt I am always lecturing my family and friends on the media and other socialization agencies.

One of the best professors on campus. Pankratz is extremely helpful when it comes to explaining test questions and what he expects out of papers. His lectures are some of the most interesting I have ever participated in. Beware though you MUST show up to the classes. What he speaks about in class is valuable to your success in his course.

He's a really good prof! I warn you he doesn't do power points and it's all verbal lectures, so don't be skipping classes unless you have a friend whose notes you trust. Doesn't drown you in tests and papers, but make sure you don't slack off because each thing is worth a lot.

I took two classes with Curt. I am now graduating, and I can confidently say he is my favorite professor I had at the University. If I had time and money, I would take every class he teaches. Curt is hands down the best professor at the university of Winnipeg. He truly cares for each and every one of his students and wants to see them succeed. He gives amazing lectures that will give you a new outlook on the world, he uses humour but is still respectful on touchy topics. Very approachable, he inspired me to pursue sociology as my minor!

Prof. Curt is an EXCELLENT lecturer. He has a lot of humour and is extremely knowledgeable not just about sociology but about a whole lot of topics as regards the world. I took an online class of his, and it was AMAZING. I would definitely take his course again if I could and I sure recommend his courses to everyone. I pray that God blesses prof C.

The best prof ive had so far!! I took the summer sociology course, and was worried about so much material being crammed into such a short amount of time, but professor Pankratz wants all of his students to succeed and he did a great job with his lectures and discussions! Would definitely take a class with him again!!

I have taken classes with Pankratz a few times since his intro class and I will definitely sign up for a class just because he is teaching it. I wish he taught more 2000 level classes- but I think people taking intro sociology with him benefit from being inspired to continue in sociology and I guess they need him more than I do. My fave prof 100%

Curt was so great! You have to attend lectures to pass however they are always fun and interesting. He is a very inspiring prof and I learned a lot in his class. I found the content unexpected and I enjoyed that. He does a couple papers and an exam he wasnt thrilled to have to give. 2 long answers. Highly recommend!

Professor Pankratz was amazing! He made the lectures seem like little movies with fun intros and they were the best. We did some analyzing of articles and little write ups which were very easy. He even provided a rubric and a sheet of some common mistakes to avoid. His class was so much fun and I look forward to taking another class with him.

BEST PROF EVER! Curtis is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. He makes lectures entertaining yet very educational. I learned so much from this intro class. Not only are his lectures amazing but he is HILARIOUS, the amount of times he made me laugh HAHA. Never dreaded going to class and I can't wait to take more classes with him!

amazing prof. you have to pay attention to learn the concepts he teaches as he does not give any handouts or show any slides. super funny and good at grabbing our attention. clearly cares about his students and wants them to suceed. he gives out super clear expectations for what he wants from you and even suggests heading titles for your notes

I've had so many gut-wrenching laughs in Curt's classes. He genuinely cares so much about his students' personal and academic well-being. Anyone would be lucky to be taught by him!

He is very funny and does a lot of talking during class time. he helps students outline their note-taking as well as help students organize their workload if they are in need of an extension. Sadly though if you miss even one class you will have no hot clue as to what is going on because all he put online was the syllabus.

Funny prof! Although his lectures are sometimes boring, attendance is mandatory. I missed 2 lectures and was behind. He does not post anything on nexus, just the syllabus. Tough grader, did not post a rubric so it was hard to know what he wanted in our papers.

literally one of my favourite professors. so so funny, engaging, and helps structure your notes super clearly. fist bumped me when i handed in my exam and one of the bonus questions was to draw what he'd look like as an animal. just have to show up to class, can't skip!

Very funny and understanding prof. But a lot of the criteria on his assignments don't align with the grade you receive. Taking notes is a must, but also just kind of aligning your ideology with that of what society's should be like today (progressive) is a must, especially on exam long answers to get good marks (even if you don't believe in it).

He is one of my favourite profs! He was amazing throughout the course and made sure to offer extra help to students who needed it. His exam was pretty straight forward and only two assignments for the entire semester. Make sure you attend the lectures because he doesn't post online!

Caring and welcoming professor. Always comes to class with a smile and enthusiasm. He always engages the class for discussion and is very open-minded regarding students opinions/thoughts on topics, as he always says there is no good vs evil in sociology. Although he seemed like he was busy and a bit distracted at times, he will do his best to help.
