Br Castillow is such an amazing professor. He is so inspirational in his lectures and always tries to connect it all back to his students' lives. If you are given the chance to take a class from him - DO IT! He has so many stories and experiences from his life that have stuck with me or I have been able to relate to, which I appreciate :)
He was super chill and understanding. Super cool guy.
Brother Castillow was very caring. His lessons were fairly informative. He had a limited knowledge on some subjects, but he more than made up for it with his experience in the Middle East. I especially loved how he connected some things to their Hebrew roots!
Brother Castillow is such an awesome teacher. You can really tells he cares about what he is teaching and is so excited to share with everyone. As long as you do the home work assigned it is an easy class to pass.
Brother Castillow is an amazing teacher! I've never been so interested in a religion class before, but he makes all his lessons so interesting!
Brother Castillow is the best religion teacher I've ever had! He loves the Gospel so much and it shows.
You can tell Brother Castillow truly puts effort into all of his lessons. He heavily involves the spirit whenever he teaches. I highly recommend taking him. He does a good job at trying to help you learn and feel the spirit rather than drowning you in homework.
Brother Castillow is an amazing teacher. I learned so much from his class and I would definitely take another course from him. The pre-class work is a little redundant, but other than that it's an awesome class.
Brother Castillow is a great religion teacher. His lectures are very informative and spiritual and he will stop the lesson if needed to answer personal questions anyone might have. The assignments are not difficult whatsoever and you could finish the reflection assignment during class because it is all based on what's discussed in the lecture.
Brother Castillow is an amazing professor! I feel like I learned so much more about the Old Testament.
Brother Castillow is an amazing teacher! He understands that religion classes are about deepening your relationship with our Heavenly Father not about tests and memorization. I love that he always made me feel heard and welcome to share! Attendance is apart of your grade but he makes it so enjoyable to come to class!!
Brother Castillow's class is super enjoyable. This is my first semester, but from what I hear he assigns far less work than other religion professors, which actually made me more invested in his class because I could just sit and focus on what he taught rather than stressing about assignments. Definitely take this Everlasting Gospel from him!
He is one of the best professors I've had. He is really funny and his stories are relevant to the material. Take his classes, he is the best!
His lessons are amazing, I really feel the spirit when he teaches. The workload is very organized and it's easy to stay on top of it. He doesn't accept late work. I definitely recommend this course if you want to strengthen your testimony about the savior.
Brother Castillow is a great teacher and has a very vibrant personality. As long as you pay attention in class and do the homework, you'll get an A. Definitely would recommend.
I wish with all my soul that some of the other religion professors at BYU-Idaho taught with the methods Brother Curtis Castillow teaches with. Brother Castillow uses assignments to invite the spirit of reflective and meaningful thought-processing; not making them into a game of "guess what the teacher is thinking" as other religion professors do.
He is a Very caring professor. He really isn't homework heavy. But what you will have matters and it is very good an spiritual. He isn't mean or crazy. He is very kind and when he plays his guitar it is the best ever. All in all, as long as you do the homework and go to class. You cannot do wrong. He cares about you!!
Brother Castillow is seriously one of the best teachers on campus! He strives to strengthen your relationship with God and cares so much about each student. He encourages everyone to participate and the homework given is easy and very thought provoking. I'd take any religion class taught by him.
I love Brother Castillow's classes! As long as you do your reading and pre-lecture work you will get an A, have a good experience, and feel the Spirit. You would be hard-pressed to find a more genuine, kind, and caring professor. He loves the gospel and he really tries to get to know each of his students! 10/10 I highly recommend it!
One of my all time favorite professors. Brother Castillow brings a great spirit to each class that makes it easy to be engaged with the lesson. I love coming to his class and am always motivated to do the homework because of the extensive knowledge we can learn from him. He's also very down to earth and has a real and genuine back story
Brother Castillow is super awesome! He is very knowledgeable in Gospel subjects and lectures are good. There's a pre-class and post-class assignment and are all pretty easy.
I really enjoyed taking this class from Brother Castillow. He's a great teacher and he truly cares about the students.
Life-changing class, not even an exaggeration this man is straight-up inspired.
He was a very good teacher. As a person who already knew much of what he was teaching I still found so much to learn. Do the assignments, they are not hard, and pay attention and you can really learn so much from this class! We learned alot of history along with spiritual lessons. I would take the this class again, I really loved it.
Brother Castillo is outstanding! I loved the class and learned SO much!! 100% recommend!!! He gives 2 easy assignments each week that help you learn the material. He is so personable, knowledgeable, and caring. Attending class is a must, but there was never a day that I wanted to miss because he's just that AWESOME!
Brother Castillow is awesome! He is a great teacher, and I learned a lot from him this semester. He truly loves and cares about each of his students and you can tell that by the way he teaches.
This class was amazing. Brother Castillow loves teaching this topic and cares about his students. He made class fun which made it easy to keep going to class. Overall this was the best religion class I have taken so far.
I LOVE THIS PROFESSOR!! He is so insightful, and you can tell he puts in more work than what is required. He is highly educated and well versed, as well as very prepared in class. He cares about each student & he also shares about himself and life experiences. I highly recommend taking any class you can from him.
One thing I loved about Bro. Castillow is that he recognized that, as a religion class, it should be fairly easy and you shouldn't be getting a grade for your testimony. I didn't feel like I learned much more than what I already knew from my mission and he tended to go on tangents (especially about Jerusalem- cool but not always applicable)
Brother Castillow has so much love for his students and wishes for them to enjoy being in class while not giving them a bunch of things to do outside of it. He makes a religion class what it should be, a time when you can feel the Spirit and leave with new or renewed knowledge. The course itself is also a piece of cake.
He's a huge nerd about the gospel and history, it makes his class really interesting. I've learned a lot from this class and have enjoyed every second!
Great Religion Professor! He knows his stuff and has a strong testimony. He has definitely helped me build my testimony and knowledge. His class is set up on specific topics for specific days, but he allows us to submit our questions and he addresses a few in class and is happy to answer any if you approach him directly.
Brother Castillow is great! He is really smart and definitely knows what he is talking about. I learned so much from this course, sometimes my brain was exploding with new knowledge, but the things I learned have made a meaningful difference in my life!
I love Brother Castilow! I highly recommend taking one of his classes. He cares about his students and brings the Spirit to class every time. His only homework is to do the readings and respond to the pre class questions and to submit your notes after the class. it's pretty simple! I would take him again for every religion class if I could. :)
Brother Castillow is an amazing teacher. He cares about his students a lot. His class is lecture based but the lectures are always super interesting. You will have a pre-class assignment and reflection assignment for every class but they aren't difficult. I learned so much about the Old Testament in his class and I highly recommend it!
He has a cool conversion story & knows a lot about biblical history which makes for great insights. We had reading & questions before class & a reflection after class. Workload is not bad which allows for focus on the spirit. Sometimes class felt more factual than spiritual, but you always learn something. You can tell he loves the Savior deeply.
Brother Catillow is an AMAZING TEACHER! He does everything he can to make sure you understand what's being covered. Class is not hard at all, the assignments can all be done within an hour max, homework does have a lot of readings but it's nothing too big. I would recommend his classes
He genuinely cares about you. At the beginning of the semester you'll send him some info about you and he'll take the time to learn your name and what you're majoring in. He gives lectures that are personal for what we're going through and keeps the class participating with lots of chances to ask questions. He is very knowledgeable on the topics.
He is very knowledgable and does his best to make sure any questions you may have on what is being learned is answered. The course itself is pretty great just two readings a week not very heavy, and two post class assignments that can be completed easily during class. Lectures are very inciteful, I would definitley take this class again.
Brother Castillow is great. You can tell he really cares. He kept the focus of his class simple - getting to know Jesus Christ better - and everything he taught centered around that. He knows his stuff and he is an awesome professor. I would take a class of his again.
Great teacher would take his class again. loved it he is so smart and loving and caring.
Great class, easy workload and a focus on Christ was present. Didn't learn more than what I knew from my mission and previous knowledge, but overall, an average class.
Brother Castillow is awesome. He really cares and is a good man. His story and background provide him with depth and perspective.
Brother Castillow is awesome! He doesn't want you to have too much homework for a religion class, but assigns just enough for you to be prepared for his great lessons.
I absolutely loved taking Brother Castillo's class. I would definitely recommend it!
Take Old Testament from Brother Castillow! Amazing and interesting lectures, not much homework, and I always left feeling uplifted. This class really helped my testimony grow and I am so thankful to have been apart of his class. You can tell he really cares about his students and he is always willing to answer questions.
This class was the very last religion credit I had to take at BYUI & Brother Castillow is such a great teacher with so much interesting insight about the scriptures and the gospel of Jesus Christ, that I feel bittersweet that it was my last. He's such a spiritual guy and made me always look forward to class. I would 1000% take him again if I could!
I really like Brother Castillow. This semester I was dealing with a lot of mental health problems towards the end so hopefully I will pass. Just make sure you turn assignments in on time. Also having the pre-class assignment due at midnight would have been helpful because I tried to do it before class and often slept in. Take notes in class!
Brother Castillow is an amazing teacher! He does a great job of allowing students to have their voice heard in class. Homework is easy and is tailored mostly towards your thoughts to questions and scriptures. Make sure to go to class because attendance is required and it's so worth going!
Good professor but lots of work. Other than that very good and caring.
Castillow is a very good religion teacher that I recommended one of my friends to take one of his religion courses. He centers his teaching on Christ in all of his lessons. He does not make the assignments difficult. The assignments that he gives us helps me understand the doctrine better and they are very entertaining as well.
I came out of this class as a different person. It was so amazing. He is a wonderful man and professor. Definetly worth it.
Brother Castillow was great. He's a convert with real experience in the world and has amazing insights to share from a unique perspective you don't always get to hear. There is a pre-class and post-class assignment every day but that is it. as long as you do them and show up to class you'll get an A.
Castillow was an awesome professor. I would definitely take a class with him again
He cares deeply for his students. He has a clear connection to the material, and goes into sides of it I haven't seen a lot from Religion teachers in the past. He goes into Hebrew roots and it is super interesting. He also understands that the Gospel shouldn't be Stressful. His lectures are great, and if you ever have problems, just talk to him.
Great professor who cares about his students!
Brother Castillow is a really great religion professor, definitely take classes from him if you can. The only work for this class that you have to do is the readings and easy assignments before and after each class (no tests!). I really learned so much in this class and strengthened my relationship with the Savior.
The only reason why I would say that he was a good professor vs great or awesome is because I personally feel like he had favorites in the class and it made it hard for me to want to share or feel like I mattered in the class. I know that if I would have told him this personally, he would feel super bad about it, but I am just trying to be honest.
Brother Castillow was awesome! I learned so much about the Old Testament that I never knew before. He assigns a little bit of homework, but it isn't too much at all and the work can actually make the class meaningful if you complete it properly. Great class! Great teacher! Would take again!
I loved taking this class from him. I learned so much from him, and he is passionate about the Middle East.
Brother Castillow is the most fair teacher I've had in a long time. He's one of those teachers that I will remember for the rest of my life. I see the "he's an easy teacher" which yes and no, He gives you the right amount of work to let the spirit into the lesson.
I highly recommend Brother Castillow! Being in his class was a great experience this semester.
Make sure you show up to class.
This class was great! There is not too much homework or reading. The workload is manageable, but the expectations are there too. If you have memory problems (like me) and you forget to submit an assignment on time, then you will not get credit. NO LATE WORK! Brother Castillow is an amazing, caring, and spiritual teacher.
Brother Castillow is very kind and knows a lot. He can tend to get off on tangents, but they are still about the lesson and informative indeed.
The best religion teacher I have ever taken. He is so caring. He knows so much about Hebrew and ancient history of the middle east. His classes were easy to pay attention to. I would love to take another class from him.
The only "bad thing" would be the notes for every class, and attendance, but besides that class is easy and well given, and not heavy or tedious at all, so enjoy the time and make sure you participate to enjoy a better time.
This class probably isn't the lightest with HW, but i have enjoyed just about every lesson. I leave class with at least one insight or spiritual impression. He is fun in class too, even brough his guitar! Homework is notes & reflection from class, and then ~4 simple paragraph questions before class from the reading.
Brother Castillow I thought was an excellent professor. He gives you enough work to the point where you need to be actively listening and learning to complete the assignment. The workload is not enough to drive away the spirit or make it a stressful experience. It is just the perfect amount to have you leaving feeling intrigued and inspired.
He is sooo good! Just be ready to type and not so much participate, hes got a lot of great things to say!
What you get out of this class is determined by the amount of your preparation and participation. Brother Castillow is happy to answer your questions during or after class. His slideshow presentations are also flawless. The added animation, resources, thought, and time he puts into it them is clearly visible.
Brother Castillow was incredible. He has a great knowledge and only asks us to prepare for his class and listen to the spirit while we are in class. It's basically a show-up to get an A class but the spirit is always very present and often overwhelming. I am going out of my way to make sure i get him for one of his other classes next semester
He is a great Professor; I would definitely take his class again! I always feel the spirit in his class and he knows so much about the scriptures!
Amazing professor. Would recommend!
Brother Castillow is a great professor and his lesson are always inspirational! The only qualm I had was If you miss more than two classes, your grade will drop a step and then an additional step for every additional class you miss, so be prepared to be present and not miss class. This is why it is a four and not five.
Brother Castillow is a very caring, knowledgeable professor. He is very spiritual and I learned a lot in his class. If you show up on time and do the quick homework, you will have an A in the class.
Great guy! I loved the class and highly recommend it, your eyes can really be opened to different concepts of the gospel.
Attendance is mandatory, if you miss more than a few your grade drops a letter point. You also have two assignments per class, one due before and one after. But Brother Castillow is incredible. His lectures are awesome and he works to learn everyone's name. He's enthusiastic and interesting.
Great professor. Always gives very good spiritual lectures and allows for questions and discussion in class. There is not too much homework. You can spend about an hour if you want a good study of the topic for each class, and in class you can do the other half.
Phenomenal professor! He is very knowledgeable and relatable in his teaching. He does not grade based just off of if we know something rather our personal growth. There are no test or quizzes. There are only pre-calss questions based off short readings and a post class reflection/journal. Would definitely take a class from him again!
I loved taking class with brother Castillow. He answers questions at some point in the class about doctrinal points and makes sure that you understand the concepts of the gospel.
Brother Castillow knows what he is talking about and he is a very sweet professor. My only problem with him is that he forces participation in class so he might call your name and have you read even if you aren't comfortable doing so. I prefer to just silently listen but he will make you participate. I learned a lot and I felt the spirit.
He is my favorite religion professor so far. He is so smart. I swear he knows everything. I don't know him on a personal level, but I know if I needed something personal he would be there for me in a snap. He is inspiring and so easy to listen to, and I was always the kid who fell asleep in religion so that's saying something.,
This is a loving and God fearing man that has really opened my understanding of scriptures. Fantastic Teacher, but an even better man.
He is the absolute best. He truly cares for what you have to say. I say yes to having attendance, but he understands if you can't be there. Just give him a heads up. I would definitely take his class again. He will answer your questions with the upmost respect and do it in a caring way.
I really enjoyed my religion class with him I thought he did a good job explaining the lessons.
Brother Castillow is good and brings in great insights. His attendance policy is relatively strict, so make sure you're prepared to come to class as much as possible.
I loved Brother Castillow! He is so kind and knowledgeable. He brings in his guitar and sings with us sometimes, and that's a fun way to start class in my opinion.
He is very doctrinal and knows a lot about history and the meaning behind words
He cares more about how much we learn in class than the assignments, so he only requires some reading and thoughts before and reflection after class. No quizzes and essays for the whole semester, but attendance is required. He is funny and shares good stories that help us understand the doctrine better. I would recommend people take it.
I took Brother Castillow's New Testament class. We had assigned readings everyday including the bible student manual and the reading from the New testament itself but they werent crazy long and it didnt feel like busy work. I had a busy schedule of biology classes and this did not feel like a burden.
Very relaxed and willing to work with you to make up for assignments. Simple lecture prep and lecture review assignments for the whole semester. No big tests or quizzes. It helped take my mind off of the more difficult classes I had that semester.
I love Brother Castillow! He takes the time to learn everyone's names and really cares about each and everyone of his students! He loves the gospel and is so passionate about teaching! He is so funny and spontaneous and is so entertaining! His work is really easy as well and does not take up too much time. Bonus: there are no tests!
This is the perfect religion class to get a spiritual upliftment without having too much work. The workload is very minimal with good in-class lectures. Definitely would recommend!
He is awesome! I have enjoyed every class lecture and left every class feeling like I learned something new. My testimony and understanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ grew because of it. Amazing teacher and he is super nice! The homework load is light and easy, I also found it enjoyable. I would definitely take his class again.
Brother Castillow really knows his stuff! My testimony and knowledge of Jesus Christ expanded so much taking his class. I'm even taking another one of his courses next semester. Would definitely recommend taking one of his classes if possible!
Amazing amazing amazing professor. Gives very minimal homework and it's always the same format, s you know what you're getting yourself into each time. Classes are engaging, funny, interesting, and you learn something new every time. Very humble guy, super understanding and chill.
Brother Castillow is great! There is one preparation assignment due before class and one reflection assignment due after. Both are simple and don't have very much writing. No final or Mid-term for this class either. Brother Castillow was super laid back and had great, spiritual lectures!
You will learn more in this class than in any other religion class. Brother Castillow knows so much about the gospel of Jesus Christ and teaches in-depth lessons.
Due to limited assignments, completion of all assignments/attenance is important. Bro. Castillow is a great teacher.
Brother Castillow is awesome, easily my favorite religion professor in my three semesters at BYU-I so far! His classes are amazing, I learned a lot, and the expectations for his assignments are reasonable. Just put in the effort and you'll have a great experience!
Brother Castillow is an amazing teacher! I loved him and his class, he goes above and beyond with his lectures and really cares about his students.
I have loved taking this class from Brother Castillow. It's pretty easy, only one assignment is due before class and one after. I have found myself not wanting to miss a single class because he teaches some really interesting material and he really knows what he's talking about. I highly recommend him.
Bro Castillow is an amazing teacher who gives some of the best class lectures ever. He really wants to get his students engaged in the topics he's teaching and he makes learning so much fun. He doesn't do tests in order for us to not feel stress over a class where we should be feeling the spirit. 10/10 would recommend taking any of his classes
Brother Castillow is the best religion professor I've had here at byui! He was always willing to talk after class. He may tend to call on the same people but they are always the people who raise their hands. He loves participation and he really wants to get everyone engaged in the lesson. He is a great guy!
Brother Castillow was awesome to have as a professor. One of my favorite professors on campus for sure. I felt like every time that I went to his class, I learned something new. You could also tell that he cared about you and all of the students in the class. I would definitely recommend taking this class. He knows about what he teaches.
Brother Castillow is an amazing teacher! He always makes class so spiritual and fun, he makes everyone feel included in the conversations we have in class.
Generally I'd have the same opinion of most religion professors because they are all super good. But this professor overall has been the best when studying a specific book of scripture so far. The lectures are very interesting, enlightening, and very engaging. Definitely recommend this professor and hope to take another of his courses.
Brother Castillow is a good professor. I did feel that the material was taught extremely simplified. His insights on the geography of the Holy Land were interesting
Brother Castillow is great! Do the readings and participate in class.
Okay, so this is my second semester taking a class from Brother Castillow. He is the best! He shares his life experiences, which are relevant, and he has a very special way to invite the Spirit in. I'm always floored how understanding and compassionate he is to each of his students. Take him, even for just one semester.
Great teacher!
Bro. Castillo is easily one of my favorite teachers at school. He brings the class together by bringing his guitar on occasion. 10/10, 5 stars, two thumbs up, would definitely recommend.
If you show up to class and turn your assignments in on time, you'll easily have an A and learn something new from this class. The class pretty low maintenance and Brother Castillow gives great life and gospel insights that I never thought of before. His lectures are well rounded and easy to understand the gospel topics. Loved taking his class!
He's honestly a really good professor. He's funny and kind and flexible. There was no point in the semester that I felt overwhelmed by this class. Most of the reading we do is scripture, with the occasional video or article. It's nothing too difficult and I honestly really enjoyed it.
He is amazing and brings curiosity into his well thought out lectures. I am excited to come to class everyday and have never had better attendance in a class because I genuinely wanted to be there.
This class was so much fun and I really felt like Brother Castillow focused on the Saviors life and helped me to understand new things about my Savior that I had never thought of before.
Brother Castillow is awesome and is a great teacher. However, he requires a pre- class assignment before every class and will not accept late work. Attendance is a part of your grade and you are given 2 skipped classes before it gets reflected on your grade. Altogether though, Brother Castillow is a great person and teacher. I would recommend him.
He is One of the best religion teachers out there! I would recommend!
Really good professor. He doesn't do tests. All it is with this class was a few questions to answer for pre-class work and submitting in class notes, but that part is so easy too. Gave great insights and you can feel the spirit in his class.
I loved Bro. Castillow! He was an amazing teacher and I leaned a lot more about Jesus Christ in his class! He gives great lectures and has really inspirational stories. My only note is that he can sometimes forget to answer some student's questions in class, so just be aware of that. Other than that, he's awesome!
He's extraordinary an a amazing teacher who is very passionate! He loves the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
This guy is just amazing, please take his class. You will not regret it
This was the first religion class where I was able to read the scriptures sequentially. I loved that we were asked to read a few chapters and that's what we focused on in class. I gained a much better understanding of the Gospels and Christ's mortal ministry, Atonement, and Resurrection. Brother Castillow is thorough and set this class up perfectly
Brother Castillow is very interested in the locations and events that have taken place during Christ's life. He will have a map on the board and show the students the locations of where the events that were happening. The workload is light. Do the before class readings because the more work you put in, the more that you will get out of his class.
Brother Castillow had spirit-filled discussions that I really enjoyed! There are no tests or projects, with minimal prep work and reflections. He is very knowledgeable and I highly recommend him.
He's understanding and wants you to learn as much as you possibly can, but not for a grade.
Brother Castillow was awesome! He would sometime bring his guitar and play for the class. You have two assignments due for every day you're in class, and they're easy to do. I would take his class (I took REL250C) if you like symbolism, finding the roots of words, and timelines because he did a lot of those. Super chill teacher and a great class.
Brother Castillow, has a pre class assignment that is due and after another short assignment on what you learned in class. this took me about an hour and a half to complete these assignments. I would recommend taking a class from him. Attendance is mandatory. If you show up and do your assignments you will do well in the class.
Brother Castillo is an amazing teacher. His lectures are very informational and very spiritually. He has been one of my favorite teachers yet.
Brother Castillow is very knowledgeable about the New Testament. I was writing all these facts and details in my scriptures that I had no idea about. Such a great religion professor!!! Would highly recommend him!
Brother Castillow is a great professor and his class wasn't that hard. Just show up and do the assignments and you'll be fine. With that being said, I almost always feel off in his class. I can't quite put my finger on it, but with the exception of one or two classes, I felt like his teaching was off in some way.
Sometimes he randomly calls students out in class to read so be aware of that, but it's really not that bad. The assignments are pretty minimal, just readings and responses before class and notes after class.
Bro. Castillow is the GOAT. He cares about his students and is relatable to all the students. 10/10 recommend.
I really loved his class. I really loved the topics that he taught on and the deep doctrinal discussions we would get into. He was always willing to answer any questions we had and encouraged them throughout the class period. The homework assignments weren't too difficult and really enhanced your learning for the next class.
Brother Castillow has a fun sense of humor and likes to go on tangents that make class interesting. I appreciate that he knows interesting and often insightful details about the scriptures, certain topics, and the holy land. He has many inspiring thoughts and quotes.
Brother Castillow is a good professor. He has really good lectures and is very intelligent in the content that he teaches. My only complaints are that sometimes he cold calls and he doesn't give a lot of time for discussion with your classmates, it's mostly him lecturing the whole time.
Bro Castillow is well organized with his lessons, and takes pride in teaching. His class will be very beneficial if you as the fellow student applies the given material.
Useful professor for direct scripture references and quotes to create a greater sense of clarity learned in class.
Great professor. Lectures are engaging and interesting. His assignments are not super intense. There were no tests or papers but you can't miss too many class periods or your grade will suffer. Over all I really loved his class.
Brother Castillow is one of the best religion professors I've had. I've avoided in-person religion classes for a long time because of the stigma around lots of homework and harsh professors. Brother Castillow sets up his class in a way that as long as you show up, you will be uplifted and excel in the class! No tests or essays, you just take notes.
Brother Castillow is the BEST!!! His class has been so inspirational and motivating. I learned things about the gospel that I have never learned before. You are required to attend class and complete a before and after class assignment. That's it! No tests! Please take his class! It is an easy A but I had a rough semester so that's on me.
This is the 2nd religion course I've taken from him! He's a great teacher & assignments are simple. Gives a lot of historical context in his lessons & I think it enhances learning. Being a church member my whole life, often I feel like I don't get anything new from religion classes, but I always leave his class feeling enlightened.
I absolutely loved this professor and his course. His lectures were insightful, pulled in historical context, and made me ponder some things (in a good way). I highly recommend taking one of Brother Castillow's classes.
Brother C makes it very clear what you need to do for the class. You have to answer 3 pre-class questions related to the reading. During class, you fill out a few notes/reflections and turn them in at the end of class. I'd take a class from him again. The one thing is I get the sense he's given the same exact lecture twice a day for years.
Brother Castillow is an awesome professor! He doesn't assign too much work but just the right amount to help you learn and get something out of it. If you haven't already taken a class with him please take him he is the best!
Brother Castillow is an amazing teacher. I would definitely take his class again. His lectures are very helpful and easy to follow.
Great teacher, but in the homework you're required to submit a question beforehand, and often class is more on answering people's questions rather than the lesson. For some, the answering questions is great and what they need, but for me I was hoping to focus more on the Savior and the class material.
Brother Castillow is amazing! He spends a lot of time on his lessons, and they have structure/are very put together. He also includes personal stories and impactful analogies, so the class has a nice balance of learning doctrine and learning inspiring, spiritual things.
Class with Brother Castillow was a blast! All you need to do is do the short pre-class assignment, attend class and some light notes, and then submit those notes after class. His teaching is both entertaining and engaging.
Brother Castillow is a fantastic professor! All of his classes were interesting and engaging, and I learned a lot of new things.
love this man. amazing teacher.
Absolutely loved the guy. He gave really good lessons and the homework was super light. Would definitely take again.
I wish there was more I could select about this professor. His class set the standard for how I want to learn and apply learning in my life. He is a fantastic instructor and his lessons always leave such an impact on the students. He finds such fun ways to introduce ideas and concepts. The environment he creates for the class is a safe place!
Amazing man, I have taken 3 of his classes and will be taking more.
Brother Castillow is a great teacher! Unfortunately, there is not enough time for the lectures and it sometimes feels rushed. All in all, 10/10! I always felt inspired after class.
Fair enough class. There is a preparation assignment before each class that isn't long, but the reading can be long. If you already have a daily habit of scripture study, then you won't notice a difference in workload. His lectures go more in depth into historical context than other professors. I liked that.
Class is always insightful & Brother Castillow is great at answering questions. He doesn't take late work and there are a couple assignments due before each class. They are definitely beneficial, but as with most classes, you get out what you put in. Overall, I highly recommend taking one of his classes!
Awesome guy! I have had him as a professor 3 times!
if youre looking for someone who will offer personal experience from his own life he is the man.
Great teacher, amazing lessons with great discussions.
Bro. Castillow is amazing. I looked forward to going to every class. He puts so much effort into his lessons. I've strengthened my relationship with Christ significantly throughout the semester. You learn so much about a lot of details of things in the gospel that are sometimes overlooked. I felt validated in my thoughts and questions.
Brother Castillow has such an incredible story and view of the church from his experiences. He learns everybody's name and their major so that he can connect with each of us. If you do the work, not only will you get a good grade but you will also gain so much knowledge about the Savior and how He feels about you.
Brother Castillow is awesome and caring! he loves sharing stories and experiences!
He is such a good teacher I liked his class very much!
brother castillow is an amazing professor. He shares great testimonies and has a lot of knowledge and experience in this category. He does a great job in the class and is good at making this class very worth your time. If you pay attention and use all of the materials provided, you can become very spiritually enlightened from this class.
This professor was by far my favorite. I took intro to the middle east and he was so inspiring. The homework was rewarding and entertaining. He taught us some really amazing things and helped the students succeed.
He cares about each one of his students, he learns our names and everything and is knowledgeable. The class can feel more like a history class and less like a religion class, but it usually ends up with some great spiritual messages. 2 absences are allowed and there's always assignments before and after class. Overall, I really enjoy his class!
Professor Castillow has you do before class assignments to help prepare you for the class discussion. He allows in class work for the after class responses. He invites participation and always shares examples to help make connections to the real world. He is a great teacher!
Brother Castillow was great! I really enjoyed his class. He loved geography and enjoyed showing us where each chapter of the New Testament happened. He makes the scriptures relatable and easy to understand. I would 100% recommend taking his class!
I took brother Castillow for New Testament part 1 and 2 and I gained such a great love for the New Testament. I appreciate his knowledge of ancient Israel and his experiences he's had in the holy land, it makes him a powerful teacher. He teaches with the spirit and I love that he incorporates the history into his lessons.
Brother Castillow is hilarious and is honestly one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is also caring and fun. His class was really easy and fun to be in. I always took something away from the lessons he taught.
I loved Brother Castillow, he learns everyone's names, and his lectures are rich with information. He's funny, keeps us involved the whole time AND he brings his guitar to bless the class with his talents! I loved the structure and consistency of assignments because it made it easier to anticipate and complete the assignments.
Brother Castillow is a wonderful teacher! He knows how to make modern connections to the students and keep the lessons interesting! I promise you, you will not fall asleep in this class! I would recommend taking him and his course.
great professor love the class would definitely recommend it. just make sure your keep on top of the assignments
He is an awesome person who genuinely cares about his students.
Work in the class is present, but never felt unnecessary, unfair, or even difficult. He cares so much more about you feeling the Spirit and learning about what the scriptures teach than anything else, and it makes him much more engaging and personable for it. If you get the chance to get to know him, take it. He's a great example and a greater man.
Brother Castillow is great! His classes are very interesting and engaging. The course load is very light; you have to read a reading, answer 4-5 questions before class, take notes during class and then upload your notes as homework. Awesome class, awesome teacher.
Brother Castillow is amazing! He gives great insights and puts a lot of effort into his classes.
Brother Castillow is awesome! His homework is easy but it also helps you to think deeply about the scriptures. It's easy to feel the spirit in his class and I learned a great deal about the New Testament. 100% recommend to anyone thinking about taking his class.
Brother Castillow is an amazing professor! He's actually visited the places we read/learned about in the scriptures which brings another level to the lectures. As far as coursework, there are only before and after-class assignments (don't take very long to complete). He doesn't believe in busy work. There aren't tests or papers. I've learned a lot!
He is awesome. Super kind and loves what he teaches. One thing to keep in mind, he gives no slack for late HW. that caught me in the butt a couple of times.
Brother Castillow is one of my favorite religion professors at BYUI. I've also taken his Intro to the Middle East class and Old Testament class and they were amazing! I can always feel the spirit in his classes and he tells the best stories. His assignments aren't very hard and I always looked forward to going to class!!
Brother Castillow is a great religion professor he truly loves the gospel, I felt as tho he really did care about his students.
Brother Castillow is truly passionate about the gospel and what he teaches. As long as you attend class and do the assignments you will pass his class easily.
Brother Castillow is fantastic! Very knowledgeable, and invites the Spirit into the discussion. Assignments aren't hard. Just come to class, learn the gospel, and you leave feeling uplifted.
Brother Castillow is a great professor! He made the New Testament come to life and really applied it to our lives. There's about 30 minutes to an hour of reading beforehand and an in class notes submission, so it doesn't have much work.
He's a great, fun teacher, and the assignment load is probably the easiest I've had in a religion class so far. 10/10 would recommend.
I love Brother Castillow!!He is SO LED BY THE SPIRIT. This is by far my FAVORITE class that I have taken this semester, which is alot seeing as it's a religion. Lectures are so engaging and fun, no tests or quizzes, a short assignment before and after class twice a week, and that's it. I would 100 percent recommend taking him, I know I would again!
He's a great teacher, and any out of class work was fairly easy to do.
Loves to have everyone participate in normal and natural ways. He also sets up an environment to help you feel comfortable and welcomed
Brother Castillow is a fantastic professor. Class discussions are amazing, and I took so much away from them. Work out of class is light, but you have to make sure to do it. It's easy to get an A if you don't miss more than a few classes. I would highly recommend anyone to take a class from him. He's my favorite religion professor easily.
Bro. Castillow is an amazing professor who likes the class to participate in the discussion. He has great stories, really cares about the gospel and students, and is an easy person to talk to.
Attendance is important as it is with many religion courses but Brother Castillow makes the material understandable and provides insights and information that has really added to my knowledge of the the Old Testament.
He is great!
Great
Great class, he is an awesome professor!
He is a really funny guy. I recommend taking notes for your benefit. The assignments are easy to keep up on and make you think about the gospel. This class is to help you grow closer to the Lord more than to get grades and assignments. I would take this class again.
Brother Castillow was a great teacher. He taught with the spirit and all of the homework and classwork was reasonable. Super fun and energetic!
His class is very structured. You do the same four assignments every week, making homework very manageable. You have to spend time reading the scriptures, but not an excessive amount. He is incredibly kind, but doesn't get to know you personally very well.
Brother Castillow is AMAZING! It was my first semester of College, and I was not doing great as far as adjusting to being away from home. He is really good at getting you to hear the gospel, and he shares stories that are really cool! I can not recommend him enough. There isn't a lot of homework for this class, and it is really easy.
Amazing professor. He truly cares about his students and tries so hard to remember your name and special things about you. He has amazing personal experiences and really just wants you to be happy. Funny, and is good at making a long lecture fun!
This class was great! He is great at bringing the spirit into the room and you can tell he really cares about what he teaches. He does his best to remember everyone's names and he is good at keeping the class engaged. He is an incredible teacher and I hope I can take another class from him!

Professor Castillow is an amazing teacher! Taking his New Testament class was a blessing! l was able to learn so much about this part of the scriptures that I was never able to catch before! Professor Castillow is a funny man! PREPARE TO LAUGH. He also tries his best to get to acknowledge any accomplishments you have made here at college!
Brother Castillow is by far one of the best religion professors on campus. His lessons are heavily prepared beforehand and he is clearly very knowledgable on the scriptures, which helps students to learn more. The Spirit is constantly in the room during his lessons and he always shares meaningful testimonies. 100/10 recommend.
Brother Castillow taught with PowerPoints and often told his stories from his past. I definitely felt the spirit in class, and I really enjoyed his lectures. Something I noticed is that he wouldn't get to finish going over all the chapters that we were reading. This happened a lot, but people were supposed to read all the chapters beforehand.
He is an amazing professor! His lectures are great and he cares for his students. I would definitely reccomend.
He is a great professor. I would recommend taking classes from him, he cares a great deal and does not assign busy work.
He's a super personal yet funny teacher, I guarantee you will love him!
Brother Castillow, in my experience, is one of the most caring instructors at BYU-Idaho. You will never regret taking his New Testament course. He creates a spiritual environment, centered around the basic doctrines of the gospel, while still sharing interesting trivia on Jewish culture and ancient languages.
Such a fun professor! Homwork is super easy and very minimal. Focuses on teaching the students and helping to grow their testimonies.
He is really caring and a great professor that cares about your spiritual growth
He does well teaching! The homework is perfect and understandable.
I took Brother Castillow for New testament and he was truly amazing! Loved his lectures and his passion for teaching and helping his students learn and come unto christ. You can tell that he enjoys what he does.
Brother Castillow is overall an amazing professor. You can tell he cares for his students and their feedback. I was always interested in his lectures and he has a sense of humor involved that keeps a positive energy in the class. I am a first semeseter freshman and I would definitely recommend taking a religion class from Brother Castillow.
Brother Castillow is seriously the best! Not only is he such a good teacher and really teaches the material, he makes it super fun and makes you want to be in class. The assignments are super easy because his main thing is attendance and wanting to grow your testimony. 20/10 recommend taking one of his classes!!
He is amazing! My favorite professor by far. He plays the guitar on the first and last day of class. 10/10
I had an amazing time in this class. I was Often inspired by his lectures and enjoyed showing up. He has an amazing story and amazing way of teaching. When I first got to his class, I was worried I would get lost and confused in the lectures, but he made things easy to understand. His homework is super easy, which is a plus.
Brother Castillow is a really great teacher. There are no large papers or quizzes but attendance is a big part of the class. The only other assignments are some pre-class questions and short notes and refection after class. Lessons are very engaging and he is overall a really great professor.
He is super awesome! Class discussions and the homework is not very difficult but inspires good gospel insight.
Oh, Curtis! Love that man, he pulled out his guitar on the first day of class if that tells you anything about him. Loved the discussions from this class and he does his best to answer students' questions. Minimal homework, just be sure to attend class!
Brother Castillow is an awesome professor! Brother Castillow is good at providing opportunities for students to think for themselves and he loves to answer questions. Brother Castillow is very knowledgable, inspiring, kind and funny. I loved his class and would absolutely take from him again.
Brother Castillow is amazing! His class is fun and engaging. He tries hard to learn everyone's names. You have to read the chapters before class and fill out a worksheet, and then submit your notes at the end of class. It's really easy and not too rigorous.
Brother Castillow is by far one of my favorite religion professors here! He's really funny through out the class, he makes us feel really cared for. The spirit is always present in the class, you will learn something new you never thought you'd learn. Has two assignments every week, overall not hard, can easily be done. I would recommend his class
Brother Castillow has easily become one of my favorite religion professors! His lectures are incredible, and the Spirit is always present! You can tell that he really cares about each student. As long as you do the reading assignments, you should be able to pass the class!
I took Bro Castillow's class as a recommendation, and I'm glad I did! His class was super fun, he's really funny and you can tell he genuinely cares about the gospel and sharing it with us. I love how he is always pulling from various and sometimes unexpected sources to bring forth the best gospel insights. Easy assignments and great lectures!
Brother Castillow is super awesome and very understanding. Can't recommend enough. Teaches things in an understandable manner and connects with the students.
He is a very kind and spiritual person! He had great lectures. Don't miss more than 2 classes or he will drop your grade. 2 assignments due every class but thats it. He accepts no late work unless emergency
He teaches by Spirit and he knows when to have fun and when to be serious. Loved his class.
Brother Castillow is a fantastic professor. He keeps the class engaged and he teaches very well. Bro Castillow allows the spirit to teach us.
If you miss class too many times without talking with him beforehand you'll fail, but he is very accommodating for legitimate reasons
Brother Castillow is an amazing teacher! He knows so much about the New Testament. He values and encourages our questions and often answers them. It's clear he puts a lot of effort into planning his lessons. He gives light homework, just make sure you turn it in on time because it won't be accepted for credit after that.
Bro Castillow was an amazing professor! He did a great job of inviting the spirit every day. In class we would dive deep into the scriptures but we would also have good discussions and Bro Castillow shared great personal experiences relevant to what we were talking about. It was an easy class that I still learned a lot from
I loved taking Brother Castillows new testament class. it was really interesting, and I got to learn a lot more about the New Testament. he is really funny, and loves to know about what is happening in your life. I'm really looking forward to taking his Book of Mormon class next semester!
Very knowledgeable about the Book Of Mormon and cares about his students. He gives wonderful lectures that bring the spirit every time. He has great stories and experiences and loves participation in class. His assignments are very easy but he has a very strict late policy and does not accept late work.
Brother Castillow's class is awesome! You learn so much and feel the spirit so strongly every class!
Great class and great teacher. Make sure to double check if your assignment are turned in before the due date.
He is an amazing teacher to have. I wish I could have him for all my classes. Would recommend to anyone. The class is very engaging, fun, and he obviously cares about us and always wants us to participate.
Castillow teachings are outgoing with stories and pictures of Jesus Christ's life
Brother Castillow is the best! This is the second class I've taken from him, and I'm signed up for another next semester. His lectures include cool information like hebrew translations and secular stuff, but also the best stories and spiritual moments.
Brother Castillow's class is the best! He is very knowledgeable about the New Testament. His lessons are very interesting, and he brings the spirit into every lesson. His lectures are always engaging, and I learn something new every class. I highly recommend Brother Castillow for your religion classes!
Curtis Castillow has been one of my favorite professors here at BYUI. I've taken three of his classes and they have all been amazing. His lesson are really well thought out and provides a lot personal insights into them. The home is easy and straightforward, allowing to get an easy A in the class.
Bro Castillow does an amazing job of making sure that this class is a religion class for you to learn in and not a class that is there for you to earn a grade. The class isn't hard assignment wise which leaves space for you to actually enjoy coming to class instead of having more assignments to stress over.
Great and wonderful teacher, is very kind and cares about the students he teaches. Cares more about you getting something from the class than loading you with homework, which is very easy and informative. Gives you two free days to miss class. I've also taken his Middle Eastern class and enjoyed it as well.
Brother Castillow is amazing! He is very kind and generous, and he makes class very fun! He doesn't give us a lot of homework, but the homework he does give us definitely invites the spirit. He is very flexible as well, and you can ask him about any homework you've missed, and you can still turn it in.
Brother Castillow has been a great Religion Teacher! Probably what I enjoyed the most about his class was that he did not assign any midterms or finals, just pre- and post-class assignments. I also enjoyed hearing his personal stories. My only reserves would be that class discussions can be a little dull. Overall though, this was a great class!
Curtis Castillow is super down to earth and will teach you the essentials of the religious content he teaches, allowing you to focus on the most important things, including Christ. He's insightful and talks a lot about the more relatable perspectives of the people we discuss who can sometimes seem like distant historical figures otherwise.
Brother Castillow is definitely one of the best, he doesn't have a final. But does put a lot of importance into doing the weekly classwork/reading. But the assignments don't ever take me too long to accomplish each week. I would definitely recommend to anyone to take his Book of Mormon class!
He Has been my Favorite professor at this school I have taken all of his classes and he does not disappoint I am not a very churchy guy and his classes always seem to be the ones I look forward to the most could not recommend enough!
This was the third class I have taken from Brother Castillow and I loved it! There is a fair amount of reading, but the assignments are easy and allow you to focus on the message and spirit of the lectures. I feel the Spirit often in his class and I feel he does a great job seeing and treating everyone as individuals. I highly recommend him!
Brother Castillow is amazing, I've taken Old Testament 1 and Book of Mormon from him so far. His class structure is great because the only assignments are questions before class, and notes after class. He really focuses on bringing students closer to Christ and gives a great testimony. The classes are engaging but not difficult and I learn a lot.
Brother Castillow is a very engaging teacher! He puts a lot of effort into class and making it fun and interesting. He also tries to invite the Spirit into every class. For homework, you need to read the assigned scriptures and answer 4 to 5 questions but usually, it isn't too hard or time-consuming.
Very thoughtful. Knows what he is talking about.
He works hard to teach well-thought-out and interesting lessons. I feel the Spirit in his class.
He is the best professor I have ever had. If you haven't had him, you didn't go to BYU-I. You can tell he puts a lot of effort in his lectures and cares for the class. He remembers all his students by name. I don't know why anyone would give him a 1 for a rating.
Great teacher, really cares about the students.
Very kind. His only downfall is his disorganization and overwhelming load of students. He is difficult to get ahold of. He tries to manage it by routing issues through his TA but she isn't aware enough. He is kind, just frazzled and sometimes a poor communicator. Very easy class if you keep up and pay attention.
He uses PowerPoint and lectures every day. Super nice guy. Definitely cares about you as a person. He sometimes struggled to start on time, end on time, understand questions that were asked, and adequately prepare for class. He only allowed us to miss 2 days but missed 3 himself. The excuses got a bit old but it seems like he has a lot going on
He's an incredible professor with a really easy work load, it simply just requires a good amount of reading. It's incredible how enthusiastic and passionate he is about what he teaches, which I believe is a great aspect of engaging his students effectively. As long as you do the assignements and come to class, you'll get an A+ easily. :)
He is very knowledgeable about the Old Testament and has many cool insights. There are only two assignments per class day, which aren't very difficult. There are no essays or exams.
Brother Castillow was great, he handmade every lesson and did his best to bring in the spirit. He took it seriously, he would just cancel class if he felt like his lesson wasn't good enough which might sound weird but I kind of appreciated instead of making us sit through a subpar lesson. I'd recommend taking a class from him.
Highly recommended for if you're taking a religion course. Brother Castillow gives thoughtful, easy-to-digest lectures, and is very knowledgeable on what he teaches. This and of itself makes class interesting. He gives great lectures and is genuinely interested in maximizing the learning efficiency of his students.
Brother Castillow loves the gospel and loves his students and it's very evident in his behavior and lessons. He works with you if you are behind, though it unlikely you will be. Show up to class, pay attention, and read the scriptures and you'll do great.
Brother Castillow was great! He cares about his students and really tries to get to know them. I think he is very knowledgable about the Old Testament and other scriptures. I wish there would have been more discussion on the specific readings he would assign- but overall it was great.
Brother Castillow is a professor that loves what he does and is good at teaching what he knows. Feel free to ask him questions, he loves to give you an answer or, if he does not immediately know the answer he will find an answer for you.
I would 100% take Brother Castillow's class again because he doesn't make religion class a heavy assignment-based class, but instead, he creates an environment to feel the spirit and actually learn to be able to apply good principles in your life and indulge more in the Gospel
He is a great teacher! It makes the religion class feel like an opportunity to learn and have spiritual experiences instead of some overwhelming class you need for credit. NO essays and exams. I recommend him.
Brother Castillow is an AMAZING person. He does a lot to ensure student success. If you are struggling, just go talk to him, he is more than happy to help. He is a very talented person, and has the best stories. He is very spiritual and allows it to dwell in his class room.
He is a great professor! He genuinely cares about his students! The questions we needed to answer for the homework assignments helped me understand gospel principles more deeply.
A very inspiring teacher with a lot of stories and advice for school and life.
Brother Castillow is a fantastic professor! I highly recommend taking any religion class from him! He knows so much about the Bible and the gospel. His class is fun and interesting and I never felt like it was a waste of my time. I would highly recommend this class!
I thought he was a great teacher! Had excellent insights and was willing to work with his students
I learned a lot of great things in his class. Attendance it pretty important.
Bro Castillow is such a great professor! I learn so much and always leave his class filled with the spirit!
I appreciate him a ton because before, I've always had to take much of what my religion professors have said/taught with a grain of salt. I think Brother Castillow is really good at studying the scriptures through an academic lens, so he can clarify what's doctrine and theory. It's clear that he loves the gospel, and I learned a lot from him.
Brother Castillow's class was great! I took the second half of Old Testament and it was totally worthwhile. The format of Brother Castillow's classes are really good and I appreciate the way he sets things up. He knows we are busy college students and doesn't give us too much busy work because of that.
He is GOOD!! I love his lectures you feel the spirit in his class. I also like how his coursework is light and requires no tests or exams. It's a religion class that feels spiritual and as an academic class, it's pretty light. He puts effort into his lectures and tries to make them the best. The effort shows as you are in class. He's just awesome!!
A vey good knowledgeable man.
I have learned so much about the Old Testament from Brother Castillow's class. His lectures are very put together, easy, and fun to follow. Assignments are simple and clear. He knows an insane amount about the gospel especially when it comes to the ancient prophets and the history in their day. Excellent professor and excellent class 10/10!
Brother Castillow is amazing. This is the third class I have taken from him, and I love that he adds in knowledge from many sources. He focuses on the class topic but includes gospel history, hebrew translations, connections to other books etc. He has a perfect balance of doctrine and personal stories, so his lectures are always interesting!
Absolutely great professor, he's a great teacher and it's obvious he knows what he's talking about. He knows his stuff and is passionate about it. However, he gives a lot of homework, especially for a religion class. He gives you reading and around four questions to answer before class. He also gives a worksheet for after class.
I would HIGHLY recommend taking a class with Brother Castillow! The workload wasn't too much as he tried to focus on individual growth and enjoyment of the scriptures. Lectures are always fantastic as he shares his extensive knowledge of scripture and the history behind them, ranging from words of modern prophets to insights from knowing Hebrew.
Knows his stuff and has a really cool background and conversion story, something you don't see much in religion professors. The homework assignments get pretty tedious, you are expected to read at least an hour of scriptures before class and submit a write up consisting of answers to his questions before class and an assignment during/after too.
Brother castillow changed my life and helped me strengthen my testimony immensely. He is very caring and gives amazing lectures. Attend all his lectures because they are all so fire.
Brother Castillow is by far the best religion teacher I have had so far! I had him for teachings of the Book of Mormon and he made class interesting and fun, as well as spiritual and I found that my personal testimony grew because of the personal stories he told us about his life.
Awesome professor who makes religion class engaging. Lots of insights from various sources without heavy workload.
Brother Castillow's classes are a must-take! His lectures are engaging, drawing from his extensive knowledge of scripture and gospel history. For study prep, I found unstuckstudy AI and the free textbook very helpful alongside his teachings.
I took his middle east class and it was so good. he knows what he's talking about and always lets people ask questions. there is a lot of prep work though but it is pretty steady and the same each week so you know what to expect. the class is super fun and he makes it interesting.
He is incredible at enlightening you to the Gospel of Jesus Christ. He also teaches through a lot of his own life experiences. He knows what he is talking about and genuinely cares about his students.
Bro. Castillow is one of the best professors on campus. He is caring and wants his students to learn and grow. He shares stories and is helpful in answering gospel questions.
I took Bro. Castillow's Intro to the Middle East class Fall semester of '24. You can tell he is so passionate about this subject. He has traveled all over the middle east and has studied the Middle East for years. He recently changed his policy for late work. Especially given the current turmoil in the ME, I believe everyone should take this class!
My favorite religion teacher! I was having some medical issues when I took from him and he was so understanding! His classes are so inspirational and you learn so much. he's so fun and funny. I have never had one boring class with him. He also doesn't lay a ton of homework on you but just enough to where you aren't stressed in his class.
Bro Castillow was one of the best professors I've ever had. He does so much to help you not only succeed in class but enjoy it and have fun. The textbook is free, he brought things like frankincense into class, he played guitar, had fun assignments, and gave us opportunities to do things like go to synagogue instead of taking an exam.
Brother Castillow is fairly nice, but a little strict about assignment formatting. I always felt too uncomfortable to ask questions because of what happened when other people asked questions. The class overall was easy, though.
Honestly, one of the best professors of religion I have ever had. I've never written a review on rate my professor until now. He is a good man, caring, and wants to help people gain and grow a testimony.
Bro Castillow is an awesome guy and a fun teacher. I took his D&C class which he hadn't taught in many years, so he was creating the class as he went. But he did a great job and had amazing lessons! He's very passionate about the gospel and has a strong testimony. The assignments include reading questions before class and class notes after class.
I loved Bro Castillow. He has a phenomenal perspective on and knowledge of the gospel, and he's a long-time convert to the church. Class was always fun, informative, and enjoyable. I learned a lot of great stuff that I didn't know otherwise. There were Prep Quizzes and Notes and Reflections for each class, which were fairly easy. Loved this class!
So amazing, Brother Castillow is kind and talented and class became my favorite time of the day in his class. I gained a testimony and a friend!
Brother Castillow is such a wonderful teacher. For his Intro to the Middle East class, he immerses you in the Middle East as much as possible with videos, food, music, and more. He is super understanding and wants you to succeed and get what you want out of the class, so you can understand current events in the Middle East.
