If you work and partake in class, Prof Herr is one of the best teachers at Kutztown University.

Very funny guy. Likes when you have interesting ideas and can back them up.

The man is amazing. The guy is so interesting that I wanted to go to every class and others that I was registered in when I had free time. I wish there were more profs like him.

You learn so much about horror, it's in your dreams even! Expect a lot of writing, but it's on cool movies and books like Dracula. Participate and it makes you feel real smart!

Hey I had this Herr at MCCC back in 97. Now He teaches at Kutztown full time. The guy is awsome. I couldn't write well before I took his class, but by the time I finished I was good. I have never gotten less then a b on any paper since.

Entertaining and personal. Always fun and tries to make english less painful. You can learn a lot about yourself and writing in his class.

Really wants to help students He is very funny and makes the class fun and interesting. His schedule is set up so that every student has the opportunity to succede if that is their wish.

I came to college with a very good handle on writing but I felt his class just made my writing that much better. Prof Herr is a great guy who really relates well to his class. I liked when our whole class went to NY to see De La Guarda. It was a fun time.

I had Herr for comp., and he was great! I love his personality. He's so open and helpful, and he likes to teach controversial material, and that's always fun. I'm excited to take him for any other English courses I can get!!

This guy is a good teacher but his tests suck. All of them are essay tests and if you only have 50 min. to do it one of the essays will suck horribly because of lack of time to complete it. The books he assigns are garbage and he hates ones with plots.

Opinionated, but does not force his politics on you. Interesting, engaging, challenging. Humorous. Passionate about his subject. Lots of great topics to write about.

(hes not hot. i dont know where that came from) but Herr is totally cool. Explains everything he expects from you and doesnt leave you in the dark. You have to read a lot but thats gonna be for any Lit class. SO nice, funny, and frienldy. Take him!

I've taken Prof. Herr twice now, and I can't wait to take him again. His classes are so engaging and really make you THINK, and I love that. If you're interested in bending your mind in ways you never thought would be possible, then take him for ANYTHING he teaches.

I loved him. He is one of the best prof i have had on campus. You have to be able to prove your point in your writing to do well in the class. He expects a lot, but once you learn what he wants you are fine. I got an A from him.

He is the best professor I have had my whole time at Kutztown. He opens your mind to so much new literature that you thought you would never read. I will never forget him as long as I live. He gives you freedom to express your feelings in anyway you need to get them out. He is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!

He's a great professor. He knows how to keep you interested. Very opinionated & very funny. English is my weak subject & he's a hard grader, but he is very helpful, so I'm doing pretty well. Very cool guy

he's really funny but runs his class as a discussion, which ends up being a whole bunch of opinions and pointless comments from everyone. kind of scatterbrained about due dates, and grades inconsistently on papers. said the final was entirely on one book, then mentioned nothing of the book on the test. not an easy class.

He is a great teacher. Hes my 8:00 class on MWF and i am able to get up and go to his class. He knows how to teach and gets you invovled. He thinks deep into things which can sometimes be rough. His class goes by so fast. Not that hard either if you try

Prof. Herr is by far the coolest professor I ever had. I'm a physics and math major and I took extra English credits that I didn't even need because this guy just had great classes. It doesn't matter what your view point is as long as you have one. He runs his classes like a Barnes & Nobel book club. It's a bunch of people talking about good books

Professor Herr is the best professor ever. His class is by far the best class I have ever taken. Professor Herr makes things interesting, doesnt assign pointless busy work assignments, and grades fairly. He is the coolest teacher ever, and If I only had 48 hours to live I would skip all my other classes, except his.

Prof. Herr Rocks my socks. He is amazing and i love his class. He is an excellent instructor and he is very clear in his teaching. I love how open he is with his opinions and he never ceases to amaze me.

One of my favorite teachers by far. He grades papers on not only the writing ability but the actual content. If you make a strong arguement, then you will have no problem. You don't have to be paranoid about saying something that he disagrees with. Often, he enjoys the paper more if it condradicts his view (as long as you do it well).

With him, you're actually going to have to read, write intelligent papers and here's the kicker...you have to THINK. He's gay, a BIG feminist, and knows his theatre. I can't imagine anything better. Be prepared to support your opinion because there's nothing more fetid than an idle mind.

The man is awesome. He does grade his papers hard, but gives you every oppurtunity to get an A. He's gay, but he's awesome for it. I recommend him highly to everyone. Best 8AM class I ever had. Never skipped

i had him for the honors section. his course was based on mostly research papers and one final... so it was important to rock the papers, but he was not lenient(leanient?) at all with their grading. i hate papers too, so i didnt like that part. his class was pretty interesting. but i didn't learn much. he is pretty funny and interesting. = mediocre

My favorite professor ever. So funny and easy to talk to. His grades are a little tough, but he tries so hard to make sure you get an A. He sees the potential in everyone and will focus on bringing yours out. Highly recommended.

lots of reading (60-75 pgs per class), but fun books, with mostly all class discussion. a couple papers, final, & research paper. plan ahead for the research paper, especially, and you'll have a great time and do fine. check in with him--he's super helpful, & extremely cool & supportive. a great class & a great prof if you're willing to work hard.

I loved this guy. Writing papers for him were not bad at all. They were only 3-4 pages.He has workshop days and helps you with whatever you need. He is extremely funny and does not tiptoe around controversial issues. Definitely take him.

I enjoyed every minute of this class. The books were great, writing papers and tests went well, and the discussions in class were very informative! If you get the chance, take him. It will be a good time!

I had Professor Herr 11 years ago, and he still stands out as one of the best professors I've ever had. As a teacher he is witty and compelling, and you will be hard pressed to find his equal. He will not coddle you, but he will motivate, captivate and inspire you. You will be forever disadvantaged if you deprive yourself of his mentorship.

I was an undeclared student seeking a future. It is because of Prof. Herr that I found my chosen field. I later transferred to finish my degree, but Prof. Herr helped me find a direction.

Definitely my favorite professor at KU! He's absolutely hilarious and picks books that are banned from many libraries. I never missed his class because it was so fun! His stories are hilarious. Definitely take him!!

The attendance policy screwed me over. Why would you make attendance mandatory for such a useless class? if you don't like lit, definitely do not take this class, pick another intro level prof.

GREAT PROFESSOR! i got so much out of his class. he made me think so much about not only lit, but life in general. he's so passionate about what he teaches. the class could get a little overwhelming sometimes with the readings but it's good reading so it's not a big deal. if you get the chance, take him!

A very passionate, involved professor who respects the voices of each of his students. The material he makes you read will ruin your life--in a good way. Very strict on attendance and paper formatting--watch out. Also intimidating for people who are internal processors and don't like speaking extemporaneously in class.

If you don't like to read don't take him as a prof. You are required to read about 70 pages per class and you discuss your readings each class. The only grades are essays. Even though I don't enjoy reading I loved his class. We read really strange books but our discussions made me think about what I read in different ways. He takes attendance.

Great professor really passionate about his subject and life. Very open about his life and views/feelings. Be ready to expose yourself in this class because he will make you wear your heart on your sleeve. Not your highschool english class. If you dont like reading/writing just try and you will do well.

Professor Herr is a genuinely nice guy. He is always looking out for the students and is always there to help. From my perspective he grades really easily but I also know there were some students who didn't do well in his class. You have to really apply yourself, but this class was a blast!

He is a really good Professor! If you seriously want to improve your writing without being penalized a lot, he is the way to go! He understands your errors and teaches you how to look out for them and correct them. Now if you keep making the same mistakes after he corrected you several times, then you'll be penalized.

By far the best professor in Kutztown. He really taught me a lot of techniques in the process of making an outline which helped my writing tremendously! He keeps class interesting and on edge. I would recommend taking his class!

By far one of my favorite professors! He was passionate about the material, and the material itself was fascinating and interesting. I wish he would teach a "part 2" to this class.

You have to read the books that he assigns. He also bases 20% of your grade on class participation. So make sure you talk during class, no matter how good you do on his tests. His tests are one essay question that you do not about beforehand. Overall, it is an easy class.

I had Dr. Herr for Contemporary Gay and Lesbian Literature, his class is amazing and you learn so much about queer history that will make you stand up and want to change the world. He is a little big on his ego, however and has very strong opinions that can be overbearing. Don't be afraid to challenge him you are paying for the class!

Herr is one of the best English Teacher here at Kutztown. I took him for Gay and Lesbian in literature, and it's one of the best classes I ever took at Kutztown. But, he's really strict about his reading assignments too, SO COME TO CLASS PREPARE, AND MAKE SURE YOU DO THE READING BECAUSE HE WILL CALL ON YOU.

Four exams One on each of novels you will read. Prove you read the reading an easy A on each exam. If you do the readings and go to class it is an easy A. Inspirational, gives you new perspectives on life. Readings are pretty good, good discussions. Do not fall behind, hard to catch up and he will call you out. highly recommend. understanding

Make sure that you read the homework assignments, come to class, and discuss. Do whatever you can to get the books, because you will be reading all of them throughout the semester. He is serious on research papers, but he is always willing to help you if you're confused. He treats everyone fairly, is clear with his words, and is respectful.

Dr. Herr is by far the greatest professor I ever had the pleasure of having. He is incredible in every way. He cares so much for his students, not just in a "do you understand the material" way, but on a "hey, you look upset, do you want to talk?" way. Dr. Herr is the most unpredictable man I have ever met. One day he will come in wearing a kilt ranting about how crazy NYC is. The next day he will have an in-depth analysis of the modern issues portrayed in Lady Chatterley's Lover. You will read the best materials and he will make you care. Professor Herr is a diamond in the rough! I've had a multitude of bad experiences with teachers in Kutztown University, but Professor Herr, amazing. He is quick witted and so knowledgeable about the topics he teaches. When I came out and changed my name he smiled at me and welcomed me home. He's such an incredible teacher!

This professor is one of the most life changing teachers you will learn from at Kutztown. He gives you readings every night and you must come to class and discuss what you think. Class is all just having conversation. Reading ranges from a poem to chapter or two of a novel. The stuff you read is amazing and you will love his lectures. He is awesome

Despite giving heavy amounts of reading, which someone like me can't do in 2 days, he was a very good professor. During classes, he talked mostly about the book, but he would point out many things in the book that people see and hear about in the real world that many don't notice. Many things he talked about I took to heart.

Herr is a great professor. He gives good feedback on your essays and will even work with you beyond workshop days. He is very straight in his political views though. If you are not on the left side of politics dont bother trying to talk with him about it. He is set in his ways. Must participate or you will get randomly called on.

I liked him as a person. As a professor I hated him. Hes funny, extremely blunt and the class required group discussion, if your unprepared dont even show up, itll count as an absence any way and you only get 2-3.

Herr is absolutely hilarious and cares for all of his students. You do have to actually show up and participate in class, but he makes it very easy and fun, even for shy people like me. His atrocious sense of fashion just adds to his charm. ANY class with him WILL be enjoyable

If you aren't prepared, its best to just not go because he will get mad and call you out in front of everyone. He's pretty open about political views and tends to talk about them a lot.

Being in Dr.Herr's class was honestly an honor, and this is coming from someone who nearly failed. Thanks to him I was able to pass and even wanting to take him again. He's hilarious but attendance is MANDATORY! I'm a good writer but missing more than 5 of his classes puts you in a position where you may fail just because you didn't come to class.

Dr. Herr is a very caring professor. Before every lesson he asks us how we are doing, and he genuinely means it. The readings that he assigned for us were extremely important topics and were not a waste of time. His class discussions helped me immensely to become more outgoing. He will call on you, but it is rightfully so for the topics we cover.

A lot of people don't like Dr. Herr but to be honestly I loved his class so much. Majority of the people that don't like him are the ones that refused to read the books. He's willing to help you if you miss a class or two but you have to actually try. I learned a lot about essay writing and loved the stories he would tell.

Hilarious professor, uses personal anecdotes to drive home the point of the class, very caring and concerned for his students. Willing to hold little writing lessons for grammar, format, etc if he senses the class needs help. He assigns a LOT of reading.

Dr. Herr is an amazing professor. His class is challenging in regards to the reading load, however if you listen to his tips you will be able to get it done. Attendance is mandatory and the due dates are strict BUT if you have extenuating circumstances and communicate that to him, he will work with you and be flexible.

If you need a literature course, take this one! Dr. Herr is one of the most personable, accommodating professor I've had. Very clear instructions are given and the assigned books are really good.
