Very Helpful and Clear
too much work
Most horrible online teacher I have ever encounter. He was MIA for 2 weeks and didn't post any assignments. Then, he came back and dumped 2 weeks of assignments on us that were due immediately.Way too much work.Doesn't return calls/email.Must help yourself
California history class was one of the hardest classes I have ever taken; mostly because of the way he grades!
His lectures were amazing and he was a nice person. Although he did assign a lot of reading and we had several quizzes, but overall the class wasn't too bad. I could sit there all day and hear him lecture and I wouldn't be bored. I wouldn't take this class if you work full time and have other classes that also require a lot of reading.

Very hard class. Do not miss any classes or fall behind at all. Be prepeared to do a lot of studying if you expect to do well in the class. Do any extra credit he assigns.
Funny
In person classes much better than online classes. I would rec only taking him in person, I've had experience with both. His in person classes he lectures, and online he doesnt post lects. His quizzes and tests in class are much easier to undrstd. The final and midt online are 16 essay q's and u've 2hrs to take the exam. u hv 2 prepare them before.
I'm agreeing FULLY with the 12/20/2003 poster. we must have been in the same class. What a dumbass for on-line teaching! I had to make up a test in his office and he asked me if I was "retarded or something".

dude this guy doesn't have his**** together at all!
I think Mr.Martin is a wonderful teacher. He is also very funny during his lectures.
he is soo freaken complicated and boring, i like history but in his class i constantly fell asleep.. BORING and hard to comprehend.........
Was an ok teacher but was to vague when it came to instructions on assignments.
This was an online course. Tests were almost verbadium from text and studyguide. If you read the material you should get an easy "A". Found him to be reasonable and fair. I would take him again.
he is not fun, not easy to talk to, not interesting at all! He grades hard.
I took his class during summer, whew...a LOT of info in a very short time, but it was interesting. He was fair, and seemed easy to get along with, as long as you do the work. He allowed notes for the tests, which helped a lot. Have a hard time seeing him as mean. Just my perception, though. If I hadn't graduated, I'd take another class from him.
I didn't learn anything
This Class was fun, we were encouraged to debate diff ideas or views. Mr Curtis was very helpful, often emailing to be sure his instructions were understood. The work was tough, but I took online summer, so it was 5 wk condensed course. I'd take alot more classes if they all made me WANT to participate, like this one did!
I took this class online for the summer. A lot of information in a very short amount of time, a little bit overwhelming. While the instructions were clear, the questions weren't on the quizzes, and I never knew my progress in the class because he never posted it. Though I have never met him, I did not think he was the greatest professor.
HORRIBLE! Unorganized teaching, missed way too many classes and didn't let us know until 15 minutes before class, piled on the workload with intense reading and writing, boring and irrelevant material, completely scatterbrained and in outerspace. Do not recommend this class to any full time student - way too much work for minimal credit/feedback.
He gives too much reading and his schedule of assignments is too demanding
This teacher expects you to memorize the entire text book. He was late posting assignments but still expects you to turn the assignment in on time. He made lots of mistakes on his quizzes. Way to much reading. He needs to keep in mind that not student is a history major. Lots of essays. Do not take this class! I dropped this class to keep a 3.8 GPA
This was an on-line class. He assigned too many additional readings on top of the 3-4 chapters per week. My biggest issue is the lack of feedback on any of my work. Even after e-mailing him it took two weeks to get a response! This class is o.k. if it's your only option, just don't expect any input from the instructor!
He's a caring teacher and wants you 2 visit him during his office hours but that doesnt make up for his unorganized teaching style, procrastinates early in the semester then speeds up at the end leaving you with unanswered questions. If you want an A in his class buy books on Mexican history and use them rather than any notes from his lectures.
Wow this class was tough. Lots of reading (but that is what history is). I took it online in a 10 week course. It would have been way easy if it spanned over a semester. Gave a lot of additional readings and tests were hard along with the modterm and final. Recommend if you have no life and can read the textbook and add. readings.
I took this online over the summer also, You have to read the book cover to cover to understand the tests, tons of additional reading, way to much for 3 units. I had an a up until the last 3 weeks had to slack because of personal probs. still took the final, told him my situation and he still gave me a D. Points wise I should have passed.
Do not take this class online. He gives an incredible amount of reading (textbook & extra) and then tests on really obscure things. He is kind of a jerk when you meet him and says things like 'if you got a good grade, don't gloat'. His midterm is too much to really prepare for - prepare 5 500-word essay's to copy and paste one. Give me a break.
This was an online course. I did okay for the first couple of weeks. There is way too much reading. You have to read 3-4 chapters a week. There is no assignments only quizes that are HARDER THAN HELL. You have to have no life in order to do good in this class because you have to read the whole book. VERY HARD CLASS
Not the cliche professor. Very much lagging ging on but does teach. You need to keep reading to stay in tune. Very helpful and easy to reach. A cuban raised American. Open Minded okay teacher. do recommend, but there could be easier teachers out there if you want. I would f course take another class with him, since his teaching style is different y
teaches with a passion, loves questions and answering them. cool personality, very family like. do recommend. although he is very unorganised, but thats okay.
California History. 5-week online summer class. EXTREME to the max! This class included a TON of reading, weekly tests, and participation in weekly discussions. Availability of the instructor was an issue, and there were technical issues with the instructor's preparation of his WebCT site... questions asked before assignements were given, etc.
The teacher is very unresponsive. Class finished 1 week ago and he still hasn't even graded our first assignment/discussion. We still don't know our grade in the class. He had many grammer and spelling errors in the tests which made them confusing. He forgot to posts study guides. Textbook reading is a mandatory in order to pass the class.
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! He is very unorganized, cancels class at the last minute ALL the time and then gives YOU a ton of reading and writing assignments to make up for his absense. Quizzes are insane, HARD and doesn't give you any kind of study guide. The Mid-Term he just gave us is ridiculous. Lectures the entire class!
C. Martin is very hard teacher! A ton of writing assignment, tests that are very hard and he lectures non stop! Too much work, makes you hate history, to the point that it consumes all your energy just to do his work. Be fair warned, started with over 40 in the class, down to 15 before the mid-term. I dropped! Not waiting to see who's still there!
The man is a horrible teacher. I was in his LATIN AMERICAN HISTORY class I thought it would be interesting but he made it torture. He lectures forever and is very bias. We talked alot about Cuba and he was extreemly bias. If you disagree with him he attacks you with questions and makes you feel stupid for having a opinion. BEWARE!!!
Martin is awesome! He loves to teach and always makes it clear that he wantsto help you out! His class has a resonable amount of work and his study guides are helpful. I liked he a great educator!
Curtis was extremely fair! He is bad about getting back to emails, but other than that he is a good teacher. He works with you and gives you plenty of chances to turn your work in. He just wants his students to understand and know the material. I would recomend him!
Took the on-line class and it was HARD! You HAVE to read a lot! 3-4 chapters, PLUS more assigned reading! The assigned reading is A LOT! He gives you 30 questions per weekly quizes and U have 30 minutes to comple it! This instructors requires A LOT of work! A LOT of reading! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS if you have a life! Take someone else!BEWARE!!!!!!!
The instructor was biased. When "teaching", if we had questions, he would at times become defensive. If we chose to disagree, he would become angry. Not inclined to give an accurate lesson of Latin American History. He teaches his personal opinion.
i took him for an online course. not very helpful. comes off very rude. do not take any of his classes!!!
Very hard teacher... A lot of reading in text book, as well as additional reading online. He was helpful when I wrote him about my concerns, but was poor about responding to e-mails and set the class a week behind schedule. He was confusing, and didn't communicate well with the class.
Not the best professor, but defiantly not hard. He was late at grading and was a little bit confusing. Plus he defiantly makes up for it by letting us redo our final, letting us retake every quiz, and only do like 7 discussions. He even drops one quiz and one discussion. I ended up getting over 100% and I did not have to read one chapter.
Curtis teaches history several times a day so it is understandable that he may get bored when a class isnt actively responding to his teachings. I liked him and would recommend him to anyone who doesnt expect an un-earned grade.
Horrible professor. Always cancelled class. I had no idea what I was doing in that class.
martin is the worst teacher ever. class was always cancelled.he never made any since when giving lecture and when he told us to read he never told us what chapter to read and even if we read the chaters it wasnt even on the test. This class is soooo boring. Do not take at all.
Avoid this teacher at all costs! He is rude, arogant, and shovanistic. When he handed back our midterm, he announced that he would be handing back papers in order of who did worst to best...and he called each student up to the front one at a time from lowest to highest grade. I'm a straight A student and have NEVER had to work so hard for 3 units!
WORST experience of my life. Taken online & had to work the hardest in my life. Ruined my straight A streak with this class. He never responded to any messages & never gave any grades. Didn't know what to expect until class was already over. Class actually thought he went on vacation or something because he never updated anything & resonded to any1
Worst teacher I've ever had in my life. Avoid at all costs. Had him online and thought he went on vacation. Tests and essays were very hard and you never saw a grade until the class was over.
Not gonna lie you work your butt off for the grade in his class, but if your a history mayjor or love history he knows his stuff and is really open minded to new opinions. Looking for easy A avoid this one looking for good class take it.
An UN-professional, who gets paid for a job he doesn't do. He has high expectations for his class, but he himself fails to responds to emails & phone messages or even grade assignments. He requires a lot from his students (which I don't disagree with, but he doesn't hold himself to the same standard.LOUSY teacher. He should retire if he is bored
Curtis is awesome!
I took this class online. The only thing I didn't like was that he never graded anything. He graded everything the last day. So if your the type of person who keeps track of your grades and wants an easy A this is not your class. I get all A's and got a B in this class.
I had him online. It was by far the hardest and most stressful class I have ever had (crying and gray hairs included). I'm grateful though, because now I know so much more about history. If you put in the effort (more than 8 hours a week), you'll learn so much and do okay.
i took him twice a couple years back and he was very difficult, at the time i was a history major and i was extremely interested in the history of mexico but after taking this class i completely changed my major and decided to become a teacher instead, yes he was that bad. the worst part about it was i took him twice and i barely passed
Mr. Martin is definitely not the easiest teacher out there, but he is more than fair. Read chapters, and you'll do fine on the quizzes. Study quizzes for exam MC preparation. He gives you all the options for short and long essays. No one who gives the effort should receive less than a B. Great teacher. Very interesting class.
did this class online. This class was extremely easy but the teacher was kind of confusing. The quizes are kind of hard but he gives you 2 chances. the essays are kind of hard. The final was difficult, but again he gave us two tries and they are the same questions,so you can always look up the answer and do better the second time
He expets a lot and does not explain himself at all he went awol in during our class two times. Once he said was a back injury but no one is sure what happend the other time. I do not feel i learned anything that I did not already know. I found myself so stressed during his class that I just did what ever I could to get it done instead of learning.
Interesting teacher. He has is flaws but is good at explaining. Downfalls: cancelled class unexpectly numerous times, did not keep up with grading, and can be rude. He is pretty laid back and the class was interesting but don't expect to know your grade at any point in the semester. Also, quizes online were amazingly easy!
Martin runs an almost impossible online class. The lecture is non-existent and you have to rely on a simple power point that doesn't expand AT ALL on what he finds important. 20 questions in 20 minutes is extremely difficult when you don't know what to study! I'm glad I never have to take him again.
I took his online course and it was a roller coaster. He was unorganized, rarely updated, never replied, it seemed as if he only went on blackboard twice in the entire course, he had to make a million changes once he finaly ended up online, You will NOT pass without the text book.
gave weekly key terms as a guide for what will be covered on quizzes which totaled 50%/grade/sem. if you did the reading and key terms, quizzes are passable. 10%/grade/sem 100mc ?'s which you could take twice. essay exam final 40%/grade/sem. Prof. had a great teaching philo. do the reading and key terms and you'll get what you put in.
This class was very not easy at all. Each chapter is 50+ pages and you only get 20min to take 20 question quiz. I asked him for help on what i can do to get a better score and gave me no feedback. I would not recommend.
Online class. Very interesting book. Workload was approx.12 hrs of work per week for 5wks. The class is very doable as a summer course. But take note, the Professor was very uninvolved and non-responsive. Expect a pretty irresponsible professor and just do the best you can, even if he messes up. Read, read, read!
The class isnt that hard. I took his class for his 101 and 102 online. The quizzes are pretty straight forward. He grades on a curve. You get 2 tries for the final. So if you do horribly the first time, just look up all the anwsers and do the test again. The final is the same questions both times. He gives you the essay ?s ahead of time as well.
Great teacher. Great class and informative. Be ready for reading, but the classes themselves are awesome.
I don't recommend this class. Though the teacher is passionate about what he teaches - he is very disorganized and grades hard.
Do not take his online History 101 course. He gets a raspberry and a thumbs down.
Worst online class ever, I highly recommend you take someone else for HIST 101. The guy really doesn't seem to care about how you learn. I give him a C
Please what ever you do STAY AWAY from this teacher he is the WORST! His quizzes are intense and his course material is disorganized or late. Curtis Martin gets two thumbs down.
My main beef with this guy is that he DID NOT respond to emails within the LAST TWO WEEKS of class when most needed. He made promises that he could not uphold. The material wasn't too difficult for me although many people struggled with it.I emailed him a paper because i had trouble uploading it,he said itll be graded within next 24 hours.Never was
This class was too much reading for too little time. He would give us a 20 question quiz, due in 20 minutes on THREE CHAPTERS coming out to at least 100 pages! With history, how can you remember that much information? There was not enough work either, the whole class we only had 3 papers, 3 discussion and 3 quizzes on an extreme amount of info.
He gave me a low grade on an essay that i worked hard on, than the next essay i wrote i copied everything from the first one and i got a better grade. he needs to pull his head out of his ass!
Pros: - Interesting lectures Cons: Never helpful, always behind schedule, hard quizzes, mandatory class attendance even though we dont get quizzed or tested on lectures. I was a very good student, always attended, and I had a hard time getting a passing grade.
Wow!!! DO NOT TAKE! Curtis Martin has a good personality but is a horrible professor. He never has grades on time, never replies to important emails, and if you ask for feedback on a paper/exam he says he will get back, but never does! It's almost 2 weeks past the end of the semester & I still don't know my grade! He changes assignments 5X daily!
I wouldn't recommend his online class at all. He takes the longest time grading essays (I didn't get my first essay graded until the last day). Watch out for his quizzes. You must read the book. If you want to contact him, do it a week in advance and wait a week for his reply. He doesn't have good communication, and if you expect nice emails-don't.
Great professor. He is passionate about his class.
Actually a good teacher. You just have to ACTUALLY do work. This isn't high school, this is UC preparation. He expects you to read the material and come to him with questions. He loves the subject. I only recommend him to hard working students who don't expect to be spoon fed test and quiz answers.
I had him for History of Mexico.***BEWARE***"students who procrastine at all or THINK they might procrastinate during the semester DO NOT TAKE HIM!"He will drop u.Attendance is a MUST.Reading is a MUST(quite a bit of reading too). Quizes are hard and the tests are challenging and troublesome. He talks like a human dicctionary so KNOW YOUR ENGLISH!
This Teacher never checks his online class for students progress or his students questions. If you have a learning disability never take this teacher he wont help. Oh and remember you make your own grade, so yeah teacher will not help you.
good teacher. took for history of Mexico. really knows the subject matter and very interesting. he does expect you to read and try to understand the subject matter. great lectures. clearly explains the material he wants you to know. he grades kinda tough, but he expects people to work for their grade. i learned a lot in his class, so go in to learn
Professor Curits was a great professor. I really enjoyed his class even though I received a B. He is a hard grader, but then again you should expect no less from professors at this level. I do recommend Curtis for History of California liked with English 101. Great hybrid class. Almost impossible to fail. But you will need to work for you A. :-)
I had him for History of Mexico. Attendance is mandatory but that's about the only thing that is bad about Curtis. I call him Curtis in my brain, it's funny. Sometimes he had a difficult essay on one of the exams but I got through it pretty easily. He gives great notes, but the book is normally necessary for getting a good grade in his class.
While his class was difficult and fll of work, it was appropriate for a college class. It took awhile for anything to be graded (handwritten or blackboard) which made it difficult to calculate your grade. Overall I think he was a decent teacher. He definitely pushes you to study by assigning so much work.
Mr. Martin had another History of Mexico class the same day as mine, and before mine. It seems to me like he got the classes mixed up. He would often think he covered a subject in our class when in reality it was his previous class. He is unorganized which takes a toll on students. Multiple class sessions that didnt even mention Mexico.donttake
Grading takes FOREVER! If you are pretty computer savvy you will survive, I feel bad for people who are not! Blackboard is a mess,he has us do glossary words (think elementary school). Tests are easy because everything is directly from the book.
Worst teacher EVER! His grading is ridiculous! You must read the book and know EVERY SINGLE DATE! Have to go to class or else he drops you! Doesn't explain things clearly. Be-littles you and half the time you know you're correct on the answer but to him you are wrong. Take him if you must but other then that DON'T!
His lectures get really boring sometimes and he gets off track a lot. YOU HAVE TO READ THE BOOK!!! Its the only way you'll pass, he grades the hw really easy so if you do it, you get an A. His exams are all written but they are easy as long as you READ READ READ!
Well personally at first, i hated the class. but once i actually understood what he wanted from us thats when i started liking the class. he's a pretty funny teacher, and his tests are okay. you just need to read the book thoroughly and comprehend it. he goes over the reading the next class day, so if you did read, its like a review session. :)
If you're at all serious about your education, this class is for you. You actually learn, and he will treat you as an adult. Yes, you have to read the book, but i'm pretty sure that's how you learn. If you do your work and show up to class, you'll be fine. He's honestly a really good teacher, just keep up with your work and don't slack off.
The class was interesting, but he was falling behind quite a bit and we had to read the last few chapters because he was behind and couldn't discuss it in class.
I've taken OL classes before. THIS IS MUCH MORE LABOR INTENSIVE. If my other online classes had been like this I wouldn't have taken them. A 500 & 250 word writing assignment is due each week PLUS the weekly quiz PLUS the homework. Each week the amount of menusia you have to wade thru is excessive. If you must take history 101 do an in class one
I really loved this class, I took it in the fall. It is difficult, BUT you learn so much, if I took a test on the material today i'd still remember it all. He is helpful and understanding if you just go talk to him. Don't bother coming and expecting to pass if you don't read the text.
EASY Class! The assignments are simple but informative. Do them cuz it helps with the quizes. Quizes are 30 minutes & you have 2 tries.Open book & I recommend the ebook.Midterm & final are simple. Discussion ?'s are a lot of points. You must add meat you your disc. quest & a you MUST critique another peer's comments too.Constructive criticism!
took it online, he never responded to any of my emails!there was a chance for a 30 point extra credit assignment that needed to be approved by him prior to doing it, yet he never approved anything because he never replied! HORRIBLEEEE
Tests were worded to confuse you. That is really the only thing I can complain about. I took his Summer class and passed with a 76%. He gives extra credit and is extremely helpful. It's a challenge, but I could have tried harder. Uses the book for homework weekly! Good professor! He bought everyone donuts and Starbucks coffee, close to 100 students.
I have taken many online classes before. This one was insane and caused me more stress than all of my other classes combined. He grades so harsh and has unrealistic times set for tests and quizzes. Also, takes forever to grade. I don't know how he is in class, but he's horrible online!
He's great!!!!!
He is a great teacher. He was very helpful and kind. He is also funny too. I suggest you take his class in person.
Professor Martin is passionate about history which is great! He understands the material and teaches it clearly. I would not say the class was easy, but he gives many opportunities for students to do well in the class. He is fair and is extremely helpful. If you are diligent it is not hard to get an A and attain a new perspective on CA history
Took Martin for HIST-129, 101, 102. I should have known better after 129! Tough grader. Really tough tests. I can get As in all other classes and only a C in his. I don't like history, though. If you enjoy history, take his class! He's passionate and you will definitely learn a lot. TAKE HIS CLASS IN PERSON, not online. I cannot stress this enough!
I took this as a 5 week summer course. First mistake. This was by far the most stressful class I have ever taken and I am so shocked at how well I did. We had to read anywhere from 3-5 chapters in 4 days. Not enough time for quizzes. Exam was ridiculous. Definitely not enough time to complete each question. Glad I got it all over with!
Currently enrolled in his 5-week summer course. I must say this is the toughest online course I've taken. You NEED to read the textbook. 3 chapters, one assignment, and one quiz each week. You get to take the quizzes 2x for a higher score. I have an 88% right now, but he will drop your lowest quiz so if all goes well on the final I will have an A!
Professor Curtis is really knowledgeable and loves teaching history. Once the semester started it fell as if assignments just piled up with due overload of chapter readings and paperwork. IF YOU DON'T READ YOU WON'T PASS!!! His tests are really difficult and confusing. He really takes a LONG time to grade. Most stressful class I have taken.
I absolutely loved this class. I would have taken more classes in which he would be the professor but I do not believe he teaches any other subject than Mexican History.
History of California was the first history class I ever enjoyed. Mr. Martin's lectures are direct and enriching. He uses PowerPoint presentations during his lectures and make sure to read the assigned work, as well as do the extra credit that is assigned, and you will pass. Overall it was a good course and he truly cares for you as a student.
I would not take his class again. He was not present. I took the class online, he responded minimally, if at all, to emails. Didn't grade discussions for the last 35 weeks. I'd barely call him a teacher. He was disorganized and appeared to get his materials from an outside source. No lectures. No teacher have I seen less involved than him.
The amount of work this Professor gave was a JOKE! I know that it was a short 7 week summer semester, but I have never suffered this much with any class! 4-5 chapters a week, 2 quizzes a week, then nonstop mandatory discussions AND critiques to other students! The quizzes are very difficult and not enough time given to complete! I do NOT recommend!
Do NOT take this professor! His class almost gave me ulcers with stress. Too much work and not enough time! Tests were very hard, and you were given 1 minute to answer each question. The final was ridiculous!! Be warned!
It would sure help if he returned an email or two. Brutal. Avoid at all costs.
There is a LOT of reading required, skimming through wont cut it with the weekly quizzes which are tough. 30 questions/30 minutes. However, the weekly forum assignments are easy and he is clear on what he wants. Interesting course but I wouldn't take him again. Finals are just recycled quiz questions. Doesn't respond to emails.
Even the best student won't get the perfect grade in this class. He's kind of a tough grader, but lenient on late assignments. Sometimes arrogant and likes to remind you he's from Cuba. But he'll help you out if you ask. I skipped a test and he let me make it up. All in all, I won't be taking him again. For a GE course, it was very stressful for me
I would not take this class again! I took every single test and wrote every single paper, I did all the reading and it still was not enough. When he would grade the papers he would reply "wheres the rest". I have emailed him MANY different times asking what I was missing in order to "complete" the assignment and improve my grade. I never received 1
The summer course was very hard. Each week we read 2-3 chapters. On top of that we had two 50 or 100 question quizzes depending on how many chapters we read. Then we had to write a discussion each week and reply to 3 posts. The final was answering 2 essay questions in 500+ words, a 50 question quiz, and another 500 word essay.
Prof. Martin's class was interesting and definitely deepened my understanding of U.S. history. It was an online class that I took, and although I never saw Prof. Martin in real life he was very good with communication over Canvas's messaging system. I enjoyed the class and overall it is very doable. Ask for extra credit if you need it.
Prof Martin is tough. This wasn't recognized until mid semester though . . he's one of those teachers who makes it seem easy in the beginning and then becomes highly demanding. Not a bad thing, just tough when you're beginning to feel burnt out. Since I had an online class there were LOTS of due dates every week. Good if you're on top of things.
The tests were difficult. Sometimes they were worded in a way that didn't make sense and made it unclear of what he was asking of us.
Prof. Martin is a tough grader, but he can also be an easy grader too. As long as you read the textbook and put your all in the discussions it's a nice easy A. The only complaint I have is that he does not respond to emails, which is hard especially since I'm taking only online classes this semester. You're better off just DM someone in the class.
I very much enjoyed this course. I was able to learn about Mexican History and I am glad I have taken History 125 with Professor Martin. He is organized, accessible, and respectful. He was able to answer my questions/concerns in the course and personal life. And he is a Spanish speaker! The course was insightful and invaluable.
Great professor! I don't like history but he made an effort to get to know everyone and make the class interesting. It wasn't easy but he was organized and straightforward. I asked for one extension all semester and he let me turn it in no questions asked. Very nice and caring. Take him if you can!
He always gave feedback to ensure that you understood the grade you received, and he constantly sent out due date reminders. As long as you did the reading, the assignments were easy, as were the quizzes and tests. I would have received an A in this course if I had done all my assignments.
He goes by Harold on Pirates Net class search. If you want to take a class that is not a major pre req for anything and have it be the most stressful and difficult class, to the point of being ridiculous, then this is the class for you. Weekly discussions that required over 600 words. Way too much for a class we only need for transfer credit.
Loved him. Not easy but hey college isn't easy. Discussions. Exams. Quizzes all online.
good teacher I just felt the class would have been better if there were more lectures so we got to know him more. a good teacher just do your best, of course, there was room for improvement but from what my friends have told me his style is changing for the better.
His grading scale doesn't make sense. His grading criteria is never clear. He gave out an online group project, with little instructions. He makes loads of spelling and grammatical errors. Overall, he is a terrible professor. I 100% recommend not taking his class if possible.
His grading and himself don't make sense. You miss one assignment and you can potentially and basically do lose more points than it was worth. His grading isn't clear and he doesn't specify the important stuff in assignments. Overall, he is one of the worst professors I have had. I do not recommend his class.
He seems like a good guy, but is very unorganized. Doesnt do any sort of class review for tests. No working with others in the class. Would not take another class of his sadly.
Professor Martin is a nice man and means well, but the class was very unorganized. Not only was it mandatory to come to every class, but there were a lot of assignments online, and he never gave a heads up about any of them. I felt like his lectures weren't as informative as they should've been and he could be very one-sided about ideas.
READ THE BOOK I repeat READ THE BOOK . Class was not hard read the book and follow the module you'll be fine book really wasnt that bad and i hate history
I took him for US History and I am going back to him for History of Mexico. He is straight forward from the beginning. Get your textbook ASAP and read, reread, and study it. Quizzes were difficult, even when I went in having studied a ton.
He is a really great professor, but the class was scattered at times. The reading takes FOREVER as each chapter is 50 pages long and you have to read 1-2 chapters per week. Tests (40 minutes), assignments (2-3 hours), chapters were long and boring (5-7 hours), primary source quizzes were busy work (30 minutes), and Inquizitives (45 minutes).
Professor Martin was great and is a very kind person. He is very easy to get along and you can tell he actually cares about his students. He took into consideration many circumstances and often gave extensions when he saw his students needed it. The only thing is that the chapter readings are very long and time consuming. Overall good class though.
A lot of reading he never graded anything on time/ would grade papers 100 and the paper didnt even meet requirements but then give 50% and the paper was literally perfect. There no grading scale feel like his typing in random numbers also no feed back. He is a very nice man does have zoom meeting for those who need it just maybe a little busy
Hes a good professor hes not a tough grader and very chill with the grading he gives 500 word essays each week but theyre not that bad if you read the textbook should be a breeze and he gives extra credit.
Very caring instructor - willing to work with you and help if needed. Passionate about subject. Reading can be difficult at times. Clear instructions on all assignments with good study guides. Would definitely take again.
