Talks too low. Cannot hear him and he uses vocabulary like every one is a history scholar. He is very sweet though.
Talks alot supper boring but there is NO homework just tests. takes attendace once a month. tests are very hard (if you dont do the review)!! and they are online.
Great Professor - easy going, funny - passionate about history - he made what could've been a very boring class into one that was acually interesting.
Great professor. Kept the class interesting. All the test were online, but covered the material in depth. You will need to study.
ONLINE CLASS TEST WERE VERY DIFFICULT. TEST DID NOT GO BY THE TEXTBOOK.
ONLINE CLASS TEST WERE VERY DIFFICULT. TEST DID NOT GO BY THE TEXTBOOK, ALSO IS VERY HARD TO REACH IF YOU HAVE A QUESTION!
I would not recommend this teacher. He doesn't have any clarity in his teaching style. Does have reviews for his test, but reflects the actual test maybe 10%. If you have questions or concerns, he is not easily reached. Please look for a history professor elsewhere!
Not very helpful at all. he is always out of the subject never in to what we are learning. His test are hard. HE IS NOT A GOOD TEACHER
Teacher is AWESOME! Keeps class interesting when it could have been boring. He really knows his stuff he has been all over the world. His Power Points are very interesting. Tests are online and you can take them three times. If you want to learn and have fun pick this teacher. Prof Thomas!!
Professor was AWESOME! has really interesting lectures and is very helpful. tests are easy if you pay attention and he is a fair grader. He also has a lot of interesting life experiences.
omg... this teacher was horrible.. i was in there for like a month and i with drew... in that month we had THREE online tests that were super duper hard. do NOT take him... he is sooooo boring!
When he teaches with prof. Matter their a great team!
Rarely responds to emails. Tests are extensive and complicated.
take him when he is teaching with professor Matter. Their a really great team!
He has the potential to be a decent teacher if he'd leave his political views at home. He spends half the class insulting anyone who is not a Republican. His study guides hold no relevance to his tests and neither do his lectures. Read the book.
I did not have any history teachings prior to this class. It was pretty fun. Gives extra credit. We watched a movie for a week & 1/2. Read the book b/c sometimes there's no lectures, and never took a quiz. Only online test, which you get 3 attempts at taking. Very easy class. Very laid back and pretty funny.
He did not keep the due dates updated.
ExCt assignments are tremendously helpful it was difficult but not impossible 3-5 page papers for each extra credit assignment. If this is you only class go for it. I would not recomment if you have a full load and work work full time. YOU WILL READ YOUR TEXTBOOK which is not bad but alot of reading going on in this class.
Great teacher. Very helpful. Cares about his students overall great and will gives extra credit and lots of chances to improve one's grade. He is also an interesting person.
Read the book will do fine
very helful, he gives you some answers. study guide is very helful, no essay paper (or a least when i had him) attendance well its equired but as long as you work on the study guide you'll be ok.
Professor Thomas is, from what I can understand, based on his SUM I onine class, is pompus. I am not sure what an actual class with him would be like but I highly recomend that you do not take his online class. I took the test THREE TIMES!!! On the third attemt I had already copied all the answers and researched them for hours, STILL FAILED!!!
Prof. Thomas is an overall interesting professor and very well educated. Attendance is EXTREMELY important, and it's impossible to fail this class. He gives SO many chances for extra credit, gives some of the answers to the test during lecture (not to mention all his lectures are online) and lets you take the test 3 times! Easy A if you work for it
Prof Thomas is a really awesome teacher, he really knows his stuff. He is very helpful when it comes to helping you pass, and going to class is very important.
Professor Thomas is an extremely intelligent and respectable individual, and when he lectures he knows what he's talking about. His stories are what makes the class so great. His tests are kinda difficult, but you're allowed to take them 3 times, and he also tells you answers to the test during lectures. The class is easy if you work hard.
Great professor. Just read the book and you will get an A.
GREAT TEACHER! I learned a lot that i wouldn't have learned otherwise. I really look up to him and thats important. Very easy class! Take test online and all answers to test are in book. I wouldn't read the chapters until right before the test so very easy! If you fail this class you were never there!
I had him for honors history, both 1301 and 1302, and loved his class. Show up to class, pay attention and do the review sheet and you'll get an A. Students that are complaining are just lazy. The fact that work is involved turns them off instantly. Plus, no homework and take the exams 3 times. Learned a lot. Too many lazy people who want it easy
I had a very bad experience. I always made A in all subjects. I have a 4.0 GPA. The only class I ever dropped is his. He requires too much work. Not only you have to read your textbook, even you had to go to library and find some other book and write a book review, etc. I dropped it whithin a week. Then I took same history 1301 with another teache
This is an awesome teacher and I did have a problem with a test at the end of the year that wasn't online when it should have been , never the less, he would be great if he didn' insult everybody who's not a republican like him and how great he is and blah blah blah, you know that type , leave the politics at home and he would be great.
Read the book and you will do fine. He allows you to take your tests 3 times and he takes the highest grade of the 3. All answers are in the book. He will slip up and give answers sometimes during lecture and he gives plenty of opportunities for extra credit.
Teacher is not clear at all. Jumps between chapters and tells you information on the test when he remembers. You will need a voice recorder. He doesn't have personal notes(so don't ask him to repeat answers). He will never give you a straight answer. Never refers to the book. He lets you take the test three times and takes the highest score.
Very helpful. Made class interesting. Big help for exams!
Great Professor. This is one of the few classes I actually enjoyed taking. He was funny and he taught the content in an interesting way. He allows three attempts on tests and gives out reviews throughout the semester.
I never purchased the book. He gave out crosswords for each chapter which helps a lot on tests. I just got with a couple other classmates and we each took turns taking the test helping each other. We used google and our crosswords. Very easy with minimum effort
Don't buy the book. Really smart, kind and generous professor. He can be hard to follow but then again it is history. Extra credits for every exam make it easy to average an A in the class. Taking him a second time
This dude is a beast! He tells cools stories and knows the subject extremely well. Make sure to read the book and you will be fine. He gives out crossword puzzles that are quite helpful as well. No reason to not take him. Outstanding fellow.
He is horrible teacher. He asked for 16 quizes, 5 exams, 16 post tests, 5 discussion, 5 extra credits, 1 book review ( min 5 pages essay) in 3 weeks. You are like to do homework all the time but finally U got C if u done all cuz his exam are extremly hard.
This teacher was HORRIBLE!! DO NOT take this class online. He is unorganized and the work load is ridiculous.
He is unorganized. He would pass out crossword puzzles and in the beginning of the semester he would usually pick them up but for the pass couple of months he would just pass them out and now that the semester is almost over he is now wanting them all at one time. Very inconsistent which drives me crazy. i would not recommend him. AT ALL.
I had to write a book reveiw and a book report. Mr. know it all wrote I had numerous grammatical errors in both. His comments on my book report is as follows. "This was a better effort. There wtere still numerous grammatical errors, but you still addressed the major issues in the assignmen." Word of advice... get a real teacher.
his tests/exams are pretty hard. the third time i took it i just copied the answers from the previous times i took it and still failed....class is pretty easy. just quizzes and tests. but he isnt very clear in lectures. felt like it didnt relate to the exams -.-
Do not take him! I took him last semester and he was the worse! I completely failed an took it with another professor and got an A!
Didn't like this teacher cuz of the annoying crosswords and he is a boring lecturer that tries too hard to be funny. Tests are online which is a plus. He tries to help with the crosswords which is good. Extra credit isnt worth it. Our history project was useless and people faked their interviews and made an A
His online exams are really hard. If you study well, easy A
Extremely interesting lectures, truly passionate about history, and if you listen to lecture and read the textbook then you will get an easy A. Oral history project can be successfully faked, but i was personally interested in doing it. Crossword puzzles supplement learning and are comprehensive. extra credit is interesting and worth A LOT.
Enjoyed his class. The crossword puzzles were hard for me, but he gives lots of clues and help. The online tests were hard, but we could take the test more than once, so I was able to do well on each test. He is enthusiastic about history and makes the course interesting.
I loved his class. He is the best professor I've had so far. His lectures are very interesting and it is obvious how passionate he is about the subject of history. He is not a professor who passes out A's like a candy, instead you will have to study and earn it.
He's very passionate about the subject. Very well educated man. Makes lectures very interesting, however, they can run pretty long. Good luck if you have a class right after his. Most assignments were online, so you could easily use your book for answers. With a good study group, this class was a piece of cake.
I really enjoyed Professor Thomas's class. He's very educated about the subject, funny, and really understanding. I would recommend his class for everyone who reads this! If i could i would take his class again!
Professor Thomas takes time to input his thoughts into the class lessons. It's nice to learndiscuss certain events and have our thoughts inputted as well. It's one of those classes that requires some critical thinking, which is good for college students.
Prof Thomas is very knowledgeable and passionate about history, makes it easy to follow his lectures. Most assignments and tests are online or he lets you take it home so there pretty easy. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he changes due dates or assignments is class so you might miss a due date.
Mr Curtis is a very great teacher very down to earth. the assignments will be open book Online test as well but timed. He loves crossword puzzles those are a big part of your grade he will help the class out with a few as a group but not many use your classmates.
I took Mr. Thomas's online class. It's clear that he isn't used to online courses. However, you can use this to your benefit. 95% of his test questions are found word-for-word online. I ended with over 100% in his course. He's not clear with due dates and his pages are a mess. Take time at the start to figure it all out. Easy sailing from there!
Professor Thomas has a love of teaching! He wants us to learn the material and he's very good at teaching. There are in-class worksheets, but they're interesting, open book, and open for group discussion. In fact, he encourages group talk! The exams are easy if you STUDY! Crosswords and LearnSmart modules help with the exams! Wonderful professor!
Awesome professor, his lectures are engaging and he keeps it going with a few jokes here and there. Online assignments but they help. You won't regret taking his class.
Love the professor, helpful. Course slightly fiddicult, but he will work with those who attend and try to understand the information.
Passed with an A in HIST1301 on campus course. He is hilarious and makes it a joy to continue through the semester. Provides extra credit throughout each unit and 3 attempts on tests. Difficult but if HIST1301 needed, I'd highly recommend this professor!
Professor Thomas was great. He provided a lot of extra credit opportunities. I love history so I really enjoyed his class. He is really strict about people just walking out of his class early, so don't, its rude anyways. He provided test reviews for every test.
Easy professor honestly. Most of the work you do online and as long as you show up, you get participation points. Lectures are pretty good and he gives extra credit opportunities. He has a good sense of humor and loves the subject. Easy A honestly.
Professor Thomas is so helpful and knowledgeable! His class is an easy A if you do your work and pay attention in class. He has some very cool stories about what he's done, so ask him about them! There's extra credit and test reviews (chapter reviews in the form of crossword puzzles too.) He works with you and is very caring. I loved his class!
Professor Thomas is an amazing History teacher. He loves to answer any questions you may have. He brings things in for you to get a hands on experience. He gives extra credit activities every so often so if you are a little behind in your grades you can always get some extra points. I liked him so much, I am taking his 1302 class next semester.
Online Wintermester-(5 100w discussion boards) (16 30-40Q Learnsmart Modules. Not one question(Q) found on test...) (4 50Q tests + 1 75Q exam:Need to have read the WHOLE book or 95% of questions found on google word for word.) (Easy grader on the book review, first one I've ever wrote haha) (Extra credit:34 3pt. mini quizzes + 6 50pt. book reports)
He was a great professor, really shows he loves history and doesn't mind answering questions. He makes lectures interesting. Most of his test were online.
Easiest class ever
Professor Curtis is a great teacher. The only issue I had was that he makes you work in groups every day. After group work, he randomly calls on you and you have to stand in front of everyone and give out your answer to his questions. You aren't allowed to sit down until he's satisfied. Other than that, he's great. Online test and final. Show up.
I took professor Thomas for Hist 1302 online. It was a short class that started April 3rd and ended May 11th. We had 3 easy assignments ,exam, and a discussion board due every week. I did not use the text book other than to get the McGraw Hill passcode I needed in order to do the assignments and exams. There was a lot of extra credit. Easy class.
LOTS of homework. LOTS of reading. What you put in is what you'll get out. The class isn't hard, it's just lot of stuff.
I took him as a Maymester class and honestly everything was so easy. You have to study for tests but they're all online. Gives a lot of extra credit and a lot of homework. Not hard at all. If I got a 100% in the class so can you. But be ready to study and prepare for exams. Although, homework helps you understand the concept.
Prof. Thomas is probably one of my favorite professors. You can go up to him and talk to him about anything and he'll try his best to be understanding. We did one group project and it was easy. All the exams were online. I'd recommend his class, he tries to keep it interesting. He does call on you to stand up and talk but it's not terrible.
Professor Thomas was a really laid back but good History teacher. His tests are online and there are extra credit chances. I did not talk to him but I felt as though he would listen to me and assist me if I needed his help. I would definitely take him again.
This profesor is awesome! Hes so caring and hes willing to help with anything as long as you ask him.
10/10 recommend, took him online as a flex & his class was so easy.
All tests are online and the work is fairly easy but he picks and chooses with grades. Attendance is mandatory, and he does not give leeway for missing class, regardless of an emergency.
Professor Thomas is a real gem! I took him this past summer 1 online and I don't ever write reviews, but I found him to be very thoughtful. His class is not difficult, whatsoever. He responds to emails within 4-6 hours on average, he has very clear grading criteria, and there is tons of extra credit. The only con is buying the book for assignments.
Professor Thomas is a real Gem in teaching History 1301. It was a very easy course for me and I would definitely recommend him to others! Make sure you follow instructions and don't procrastinate. All the tests are easy and due dates are reasonable. Excellent Professor!
I took both HIST1301 and HIST1302 with Prof. Thomas. He is caring, understanding and treats everybody like an adult and with respect. He does not coddle you but is helpful when you ask him questions. He is extremely committed to you learning the material and applying it to real life, and not just reading a book to pass a test. Best professor ever!
I went to professor Thomas' class every day and did not think I was learning a thing until I took the STAAR exam and realized how much he taught me. He teaches in so much detail you do not even realize until you finish the class. He is also a great story teller. The tests are online and it is easy to get above a 100 if you put effort into it.
I took History 1301 and it was very challenging. He has lots of PowerPoints but goes over them the last 10-15 minutes of class. Light on homework, 4 exams, LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT. His lectures are boring and he doesn't talk loud so I had trouble hearing him. Everyone in my class was on their electronic device and he does not say anything to them.
Suggest everyone to take his class.
Almost all of the work is online, and they are INCREDIBLY easy to do. Easy 100's if you put in the effort and show up to class. Since his class is so large, he does not mind it when students get on their devices or do other homework in his class. I left with a 100+ in his class without ever studying because it was THAT easy. Highly recommend him.
I had an A in his class, and because I missed a couple of in class assignments I got an F in the class. He didn't respond to my emails. Worst professor ever.
I suggest everyone to take his class for history 1301, 1302
Maymester class was doable. Honestly, history is boring as hell to me, so I can't wait to get it over with. We had 5 exams- including final, 16 learnsmart modules, 5 discussion boards, and 1 book review. Again, the class is super doable.
The lectures are some of the most boring and unengaging thing i have ever listen too. please tell this old hag to retire!!
Most of the homework assignments are online and are easy to pass by using the textbook. Extra credit is available. Exams are online. Attendance strongly suggested. Powerpoints review main topics of what is in the chapters. Group work assignments typically turn into homework due the following week or so. Lecture most of the class but is interesting.
Lecture is mandatory because he randomly calls role. 3 absences and you automatically fail. Lecture is also basically useless because nothing he says is on quizzes or exams. He gives work in class that is also mandatory. The quizzes and exams are online and you can easily find the answers. There is an easy extra credit assignment for each chapter.
He is the worst professor I have had so far. He doesnt explain the assignment and discussion board clearly and he will take your 70-80 % points with out any feedback. Im taking online class with him now, and its a nightmare. Dont trust me? Good luck taking his class.
Taking the online class, he doesnt respond to emails. Im not getting credit for assignments Ive done because he says I havent done them. Not a hard class to pass, just dont ask for any help because he will not provide it for his online class.
Just got finished taking his class online, at first his class was tolerable. As i continued taking his class he didn't respond to emails and when he did he would get mad . Not a hard class to pass though but if you dont understand the assignments or the subject of history and you are looking for an explanation in the assignments look elsewhere
Professor Thomas makes History interesting to learn about, even if it's your least favorite subject. He really values the students' opinions during topic discussions. Learnsmart modules are mandatory. He gives plenty of extra credit. All exams are online and taken outside of class. An attendance sheet is passed around every class.
He's nice and tries to be funny. I honestly don't like history but he made it somewhat interesting. However, he does talk a lot. My class was huge so we didn't really interact with other students. Most of the homework and tests are online which was a good thing. I could just stay home an do my test.
This professor by far is one of the most unhelpful in his own course. DO NOT TAKE.
Professor Curtis was definitely a great choice. I took him during a maymester he was very understanding and very accessible. He even allows you to take your test up to three times. He also gives a lot of extra credit.
Easy class just go and hopefully he doesn't pick on you. Pay attention and do your work it is not difficult.
I took his class online. The work is pretty straight forward it is not hard at all just a bit overwhelming but if you time yourself you can get it done. There are 4 tests and one final. He gives you multiple chances to take tests. Overall I would take this class again.
This is by far my worst experience with a professor. Due to the class being online, he was not clear about instructions. There was a clear lack of communication between him and our class. DO NOT take him if you are doing it online.
Professor Thomas, he was a straight forward person, he provided lots of extra credit which were mostly book reviews. He lacked in communication with students, but his course was overall easy.
He is one of the best professors I had in my falls semester. He is just awesome and will care for his students. Just do your work and he will take care for the rest.
Take him, he is amazing! You have ALOT of extra credit opportunities. Five unit exams, Chapter progress check, and Discussion paper. Everything can be found online! Super Easy!!
Although a lot of homework (due to taking it May term), it is a very easy class. Can take exams up to 3 times and a lot of extra credit opportunities. Although didn't have him synchronous, seems to be very understanding and wants us to really learn the material. Easy to get a good grade, but just don't fall behind with the work.
Took him for the online course and I find this course extremely easy. You will also get a chance to boost your grades via an extra credit paper.
