A relatively easy class, but you will likely struggle if you don't understand the theories. Tests are essay format and they are no suprises, which is great. I reccomend this class as it is probably one of the easier breadth requirements.
Cool lady...very fair. All essay tests but stick to the study guide and you'll do fine. Am def going to take her classes again....
Barkley is a great teacher. If you put in the effort you will get the A you deserve. The study guides are extremely helpful. If you complete the study guides there will be no surprises on the tests.
Probably your high school portrayal of a college professor. Professional but not a total prude. Lectures can get pretty tedious, especially at 7:35am.
Even though it was a 7:30am class....ugh...I did go to everyone because if I didn't you would miss a lot, even if the notes for that day are online, it is very helpful to go to class. It was 5 unit class and I got an A, it was hard work understanding them and comprehending, but after much studying, it was actually pretty easy. Also, there was a book report and the tests were multiple choice.
I loved her class
I liked her...she is very nice. Her exams are essay just follow the study guide. She actually gives you the answers to the study guide in class if you pay attention and it save you the trouble to go back and answer the questions.
she talks about shoes a lot.
Easiest class I've ever taken. No, she doesnt talk about her shoes a lot. Her class has 2 midterms and a final, which are MC and super easy. She gives u a study guide, but u dont even have to bother doing it. All the answers are on her lecture notes, which she posts online. Only 2 Q's on test are from book, so dont bother reading the book.
She seems to be serious at the first day of class, but later on, you will find her kinda funny. This class is very straight-forward, clear-stated, and worth-learning.
Go to class! All info comes from her lectures and videos. Book is mostly for homework assignments and reference. She talks fast so you might want to get a tape recorder to get everything she says. Very friendly and you will get to like her odd sense of humor. She seems difficult at the beginning but lightens up. Challenging class but recommended
As long as you put some effort into her class it's an easy A. She posts the study guides and lecture notes online; which really helps. The midterms are pretty straight foward, comes right out of the lecture notes. Homework is pretty easy, just some activities from a CD.. that are due about once a week. Fun class overall, i reccomend this class..
Dr. Barkley knows what she is talking about, plus she is hot!
Great teacher really is there for students. Does give you study guide for test and tests follow the study guide closely. And yes Dr.Barkley is hot which makes it easy to go to class.
i had her at chabot college and she is very helpful and knows her stuff. she puts the study guides and lecture notes online so it helps alot. not a bad class to take!
She talks too fast and when you ask her a question she acts as if shes proving herself to you instead of actually trying to teach you...dont take her class if you have a choice
Very knowledgeable. Can really hold your interest on a topic and makes it relevant. Doesn't use the text all that much though. Make sure to use the study guides she provides as they basically are the tests.
Physiological Psychology - Barkley is AWESOME! Yes, she talks fast (welcome to UNIVERSITY, ya whiners!) She knows her subjects, & imparts her knowledge very generously. It's not easy material for many students, but go to class & supplement lecture w/ the book. Tests are quite fair, & she always tosses in a few extra credit points for good measure.
Didn't really like this teacher she talks to fast and presents to many concepts to fast. I would be writing notes on the first concept and she would be on the fifth. She would not explain the concepts enough. I know this is college and teacher are fast but she is to fast. Not good at all.
Barkley's class is not for everyone. It's a challenging class but she does give you the tools needed to succeed. She's a fast talker and babies no one. After all, it is college! Attending class EVERYDAY and completing the study guide fully are the two ways to do well. Good luck!
She's a brilliant lecturer (cute and funny too). I took her for two classes that I thought would be entirely boring but she made them interesting: I ended up doing well in both (Physiological Psych and Conditioning and Learning).
She's the bomb.
Her lectures are always interesting and relevant. the study guides she posts are very helpful for doing well in the class and get you to understand the main points. the home work is easy and she's an fun teacher to learn from.
She was awesome! Her lectures were very interesting and she posted study guides online prior to tests and they were VERY helpful! If you do the study guides you will most likely Ace the tests.
boring
I love Barkley! Shes very nice and easy to talk to. Very clear, and straight forward. Go to class and study and you'll do fine!
Talks way too fast and jumps to the next topic way before most people comprehend the first topic. Very BORING!!
One of my favorite professors ever - definitely one of the people that makes the psychology department here at CSU East Bay so strong. YES, she IS challenging, but that's why you're in college! Don't take her classes if you aren't ready for fast paced learning. All in all, smart as all get-out and pretty funny.
Barkley is GREAT!! She's really funny. She lectures a little fast, but its all straight from the book (so its cool if u miss a few classes). All lectures notes are posted on blackboard. She's easy to understand. There are only 3 hwk assignments, and theyre all coloring ones. Lol. this is an easy A if your a textbook/note-taking person!
Use the study guides! That and class notes are all you need.
Dr. Barkley is a great teacher. She goes over everything she wants you to know in lecture and there are no surprises on the exams. She deals well with questions from the class and does not go off on tangents. I highly recommend her for any subject.
Very bad Teacher. I won't ever recommend her because, first of all say one definition and quickly skip to the next one. So its practically impossible to take notes and the tests are basically from the notes. She doesn't go by the book but requires us to buy it. She sets a very bad example of a professor and i will recommend not to take her.
Very nice professor, do the study guides before the tests and you will get an A for sure.
Boring class, had to keep up with chapter online assignments given.
I have taken her for 3 courses throughout my college career, and I absolutely love her teaching style! her lectures are very fast pace and you have to continuously take notes. But if you show up to class and do the extremely helpful study guides she posts on blackboard, you'll do just fine. This is her only class with short answer exams. Love her!
Loved this class in large part due to Dr. Barkley. She has a great sense of humor and gives the lectures in a way that really makes the (difficult) material understandable-one of my all-time favorite profs at CSU. Yes, you need to actually do the reading, attend class and take notes, and do the study guides but if you do the work it's easy enough.
VERY GOOD TEACHER! Print out her lecture outlines beforehand and add additional information while she lectures. Which maybe on the next exam. She gives study guides as well. There are online quizzes but you can take them more than once. Shes non-cumulative. There maybe extra credit questions on exams but she doesn't tell you until she grades them.
Took Comparative and Physio with her. Comparative only required 3 exams, and we were allowed to have a note card on each exam. Everything on the test was based off of lecture. Her Physio class required 2 homework assignments and 3 exams. the tests were mostly from lecture and some material from the book. Very do-able, and I really recommend her!!!!
Course very fast paced! Excellent teaching style uses youtube, & power point slides. I got a B in the class without the book, but would have been beneficial to have the book. Attendance is not mandatory but is recommended. If you miss a class make sure to listen to the podcasts on blackboard.
Basically don't take morning classes with her. I found it hard to stay awake. Overall good professor though :)
Very good teacher. Would recommend not taking the morning class with her though, hard t stay awake and focus. All lectures go with assignments and if you do the study guides & take notes you should be set fot the midterms and final.
She uses humor 2 help you stay awake in class. she's knowledgable&helpful. material is difficult: that's not her fault; she warns you ahead of time about this and gives tips 4 success. she has EB replay. Go 2 class! Take good notes! use the book! EZ to get lost if you dont read up. This is def a BIOLOGY (of brain) class, not a typical psych class.
THEE BEST PROFESSOR ON CAMPUS. although there was a lot of material to cover she uses humor & real world experience to solidify the info. very fair grading. beautiful personality. majorly helpful outside of class as well, helped me get a scholarship. i would definitely take another class with her, matter fact i'm looking for one now lol
Really smart and really clear. If you come to every class and read the book, you will get a near perfect score on the tests. She is really interesting and almost never digresses on tangents. Fun homework too. Highly recommend this class, especially if you enjoy this type of psychology.
She is such an amazing teacher. I have moved my whole schedule around so I can take all my classes with her. She is so helpful and easy to understand. Her classes are tough and you do need to work pretty hard to get an A, but it is worth it. She gives study guides, and if you spend a few hours on them, you will get an A
I wish I could take all her. I'm managing to have taken 2 so far. I never thought I would get an A in her class. She know her stuff and how to deliver it to others.
She is a tough but very interesting and fun teacher who tries to make sure the material is comprehensible.
Dr. Barkley is one of the best professors I've ever had. She is engaging and excited about what she teaches, and is more than willing to help you learn the info any way she can. Assignments are fun, and the tests are easy to get an A as long as you attend lecture and study the study guide.
She explains everything really well. Most of the classes that she teaches are recorder through EastBay replay. Listening to her recordings and reading her books will help on the exams and make sure to do her homework.
Exams can be a little tough but she posts study guides for all 3 tests at the beginning of the quarter so you have plenty of time to study. Really good teacher. Made class interesting!
Dr Barkely is great. very clear, engaging and knowledgeable. Also, gives thorough study guides and uses EB replay. Never went to class, but listened to lectures and made 3x5 cards (she allows 2) for exams and got an easy A. but...I also learned a lot about a subject that I had 0 interest in initially.
I have had her for intro and phsyio psych. As long as you pay attention, take good notes and are detailed, then her classes are fairly easy. This is a type of class that interested me, but its work! and classes that make you work are classes you learn form!. The topics were interesting and she is pretty clear on what she is looking for.
Her tests were easy, because everything was off the study guide. BUT her teaching was very monotone and her "lecture notes" weren't very helpful. You really need your book. I couldn't sit in her class for more than 10 minutes before wanting to fall asleep. You're better off going home and working on that study guide for the exams.
Great professor! Difficult subject, but she made it very clear and interesting. You also get one notecard for the midterm, and two notecards for the final.
I really didn't care for Psych, but guys she made me enjoy it! She's a great teacher, definitely knows her stuff and will help you if you need help. She's pretty interesting too! And her tests are completely based off the study guide, so there is no reason you shouldn't get an A! Overall a really nice teacher, don't know why people are complaining.
This was a fun class. She had us create our own experiment in groups of three that was related to a topic for the entire class. She was really clear and helpful on what we needed to do for our experiment and research paper on our experiment.I highly recommend taking her
She is amazing! She is so helpful and is willing to help you pass the course. Her lectures are interesting if you actually pay attention. She was nice enough to give study guides, and if you did it and actually spent time on it you'd be good for exams. I passed her class with an A-! I would totally take another class with her.
Very interesting class! I learned a lot. Barkley uses east bay replay which is very helpful when doing the study guides and to listen to the lectures again. I'd take her again if she had other classes.
4 online quizzes, 10 points each. 2 midterms and one final, each worth 100 points for a total of 340 points. You also have to complete a given amount of research studies that don't help your grade, but if you don't, you'll receive an incomplete. The textbook isn't really needed, you'll be perfectly fine using east bay replay and the internet.
She's fun and she teaches well. Do the study guide and it shouldn't be a problem to get a B. She actually goes in depth and answers peoples questions. I'd take her again definitely.
She is one of my favorite professors! Her lectures make everything so easy and the notes that she posts online definitely help. As long as you show up ready to take notes, then I definitely recommend her. She does not take attendance, so it's your job to show up. If you don't, then don't expect a good grade. I would not mind taking her again!
I loved her class. I don't know if it's because I was interested in the subject, but she is a very good professor. If you miss class, you can listen to the lectures on east bay replay. She is also very helpful and friendly so if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask her!
If you prefer lecture classes that are straight forward, super organized, and efficient, you'll enjoy her class. Lectures can seem tedious at times, but she really knows what she's talking about, and you can tell she's passionate about psychology... SO PAY ATTENTION!
Class starts at 10 in the morning, I got to my seat around 10:02 10:03 and she didn't want to count me for attendance. I thought that was kinda messed up. She is very nice and funny during lectures , sadly she keeps us for the whole hour 50 minutes , least she gives one 5 minute break.
Every time I ask her questions after class she seems like she doesn't wanna help me out, so why bother . During lectures she answers your questions nicely, but after class she becomes very condescending and arrogant. She said she gets ticked off when someone cuts her off in the freeway, she said that no one should cut her off.
She seems like a mad person, doesn't like getting cut off in the freeway and doesn't seem to like questions after class, she needs to improve her personality and her teaching style, she is the worst psychology teacher and possibly the worst teacher here at east bay, also she is the meanest here at east bay.
On the first day she wasn't interested in getting to know who I am
Professor Barkley is very knowledgeable and passionate in all she teaches. Her lectures are LONG, and not the most entertaining, but she does use "east bay replay" (which means all of her lectures are audio recorded and posted on blackboard). I recommend taking notes in class and using the east bay replay tool as a review device.. Good luck!
She is one amazing teacher i took her for physiological psychology her lectures she goes fast but she uses east bay replay which you can go back and re watch her lectures and her tests are from her lectures take good notes and use flash cards. If i could i would love to take her class over again. Shes not easy teacher but she is reasonable.
This was a good class. She is no joke and has boring lectures. If you pay attention you should do okay, but studying for the midterm and final are necessary. Do the study guide for extra credit.
Dr. Barkley is an amazing professor for Conditioning and Learning and for Physiological. Shes not "easy" but she gives plenty of opportunities to do well in her class. Two Hw assignments and 2-3 tests depending on which class you're in. Conditioning has a project that's easy. Her lectures are interesting and shes funny. I'd take her again.
One of the best classes I've taken at East Bay. The lectures and project were interesting and relatable. Very clear assignments and expectations are given at the beginning of class. Do your work on time and you will pass exams easily. Sniffy text is required.
2 midterms, 1 final, 3 quizzes that go towards homework grade, and she gives you extra credit towards your test grade if you fill out the study guide packets. She picks out what she wants to teach out of the book, so you don't really need it. She also makes some jokes while teaching, which helps me remember the concepts. I recommend her. :)
class was not too difficult. 3 test not accumulative. easy homework quizzes can take as many times as needed for the desired grade. Do the study guide, very useful. does a great job at explaining, especially to real life. so if you do not understand a concept ask questions she is willing to help. grading is strict but teacher is nice.
Class well structured. Don't really need the book, test come straight from lecture and videos. She uses east bay replay which helped! Gives extra credit for completing the study guide. Kind of has a sarcastic attitude but would def take again!!
Professor Barkley is very reasonable. The tests are straight forward, and she gives you a study guide. Pay attention in class, take notes, and do the study guide and you will do well. Little outside studying is required besides the study guide.
Tough class but reasonable. She pushes you and brakes things into chunks. ALWAYS ask for clarification if you aren't sure of something. She has a very serious face and can be rude when you ask q's but she will still answer them. Homework around every two weeks which builds up to your final research paper. You run an experiment w/ a group.
The intro to psych class was easy, we had mini quizzes online that were easy. the tests were based on the quizzes. Classes weren't mandatory but they were needed because some questions on test were from lecture. Overall pretty easy, ONLY BAD thing is she seems mono toned and its hard to stay focused.
By far one of the best psych professors @ CSUEB hands down. No doubt she makes you work for your grade, but she is always willing to help. If you cant handle sarcasm - dont take her class. She is very knowledgeable in whatever subject she is teaching. Uses EastBay replay. Would take again!!
Dr. Barkley has been the first professor at CSUEB to motivate and inspire me. Her class is a lot of work of course, but you learn so much and she provides extra support whenever it is needed. If you are wanting a professor who makes connections with her students then I highly recommend her. You won't regret it!
Lectures were interesting, and Dr. Barkley teaches this class well - the only thing I wish was different, was that she had powerpoint slides to go along with her lectures because this really helps (me at least) emphasize what needs to be made note of. However, overall this is a good class and you'll learn a lot if you attend, study, and listen.
2 exams, & best 3 out of 4 homework assignments (easy homework). Provides study guide, and gives a couple extra credit points if you do the study guide. Interesting class, amazing lecturer. Provides good examples to help students understand the material. Attendance not mandatory but it helps to go to class. Book helped! Highly recommend her!
Here's the thing you are required to participate in labs for higher ups which is obvious it's a 5 unit class. Her lectures are CLEAR, NOT BORING, and she tries to crack jokes. 7:55am-9:10 seems like hell but she's a good teacher. Don't skip class if you won't watch the lectures. If you're responsible take notes and study you'll pass.
-Dr. Barkley is an excellent lecturer, but speaks quickly. -More receptive to answering questions during office hours so come with a precise question in mind. -Don't take her sometimes aloof demeanor personally, she's actually pretty nice. - Do not miss class, tests are almost entirely from lecture and homework. - Come 2 class, do the work, pass
Very straightforward class. She provides outlines ahead of time so you can follow along and take notes. Only 3 tests, 4 quizzes which you have unlimited attempts to do well, and extra credit opportunities. Easy A if you show up and re-read your notes on a weekly basis.
Most of your grade comes from 2 midterms and a final (final only covers material from after second midterm). 10% of grade from 4 short HW assignment. Barkley provides study questions for each exam at beginning of quarter, which really helps since her tests are based on the study guide. Attending 5 experiments is required to pass this class.
This class challenged me. The subject is heavy, which goes into great depth. however, I had to do a lot of outside studying and some other online/book research to clarify topics since lecture was heavy and fast pace. I earned an A in the class, but I had to work for it. Her class is difficult but rewarding, and college isn't easy.
easy pass as long as you study
Dr. Barkley is awesome! Her lectures are interesting and she explains things wonderfully. We only had two (quite fun) homeworks and 4 exams. Attendance is not mandatory but I recommend that you come to class. You will do much better if you do. Also, do the study guides. She will give you extra credit for them. I would take her again in a heartbeat.
Loved having Barkley as my psych professor her tests werent too hard but thats only If you study your ass off. Lectures are long but super informative and a lot of info in her lectures are on her tests so you must go to class if you want an A!
I have taken Exp, Cond, H&B with Dr. Barkley. I have never had a professor that is as intelligent and professional as she is. Her lectures flow naturally and they actually "stick". She does not waste your time with meaningless hw, gives study guides, allows 1 flashcard on exams. Not an easy A, but the best Psych professor you will have @ CSUEB.
You have to go to class to pass because she doesn't post lectures on blackboard except for an outline that basically has no info. She speaks fast, gives attitude when a question is asked and you have to study like crazy to pass her tests. She claims text book is not necessary for class, but get it. She's not awful, but definitely not the best.
This professor is awesome! The workload is a little high though. There are 3 homeworks, a CyberRat project that consists of 3 phases with 3 experiments each, and 3 exams. If you do the study guide, she will give you extra credit. Dr. Barkley helps you understand the material by relating it to real life but she talks fast and doesn't use slides.
This teacher has to be the rudest teacher I've ever experienced both in community college and also at university. You can tell that she doesn't want to be there and teaches with no enthusiasm whats so ever. I have no idea why her reviews are so good. When you go to her office hour she sighs and gets annoyed which makes you scared to ask for help.
She is a very unpleaseant person. If your good at tests take her. If you need help with anything get ready for some passive aggresion from her. She needs to realized that not everyones parents were computer enigineers and not everyone grew up in Walnut Creek. This school is filled with first generation college students who struggled to get here.
I really enjoyed Dr. Barkley and her PSYC 320 class. She is very straightforward with her teaching style and learning expectations, but in my experience she has been quite helpful answering any questions you may have. Take solid notes and do the study guides! The study guides are extra credit and they help tremendously on exams.
Took Psych 310 and 320 with Dr. Barkley in the summer. 3/4 tests, some HW assignments and extra credit study guides. Allows 4x6 note card for 310 tests. Very straight forward and simple if you show up, take solid notes, and study. The study guides help a lot, so do them. Good teaching style, answers questions. Only needed the books once or twice.
She's amazing, I enjoy her lectures, they're very interesting she really knows how to make it very interesting and easy to grasp.
The whole class relies on the lecture. Her lecture notes do not help so if you miss a class you are in a lot of trouble for the exam. You could do the study guides and still have no idea what is on the test. Overall was a tough class and if you want an easy A I wouldn't take her.
Shes very knowledgeable of the subject and its evident but if youre a visual learner who enjoys slides then I suggest you avoid her. She DOES NOT use lecture slides and just speaks at the front of the class for the whole period so unless you have stellar note taking skills, dont take her. Perks: she allows a note card on test and extra credit.
Try to get her in the mornings when she's more energetic. I have her after she had taught 3 other classes and she's made it clear shes tired. She doesn't use lecture slides so get ready to record her lectures because all she does is sit there and talk based on her outlined "notes". Her study guides are heavy, you basically need to know everything
Her lectures are extremely heavy and she only uses outlines, not lecture slides. Its a lot of material coming at you fast so its best to review it when you get home ASAP. You are given study guides that when you're finished its almost 10 pages long, just for you to receive 2, maybe 3 extra credit points. Its not a lot of points but its a good prep.
Dr. Barkley is very kind and approachable. Although her lectures are long, most of the important topics will be highlighted in her study guides. If you do the study guides, she gives you extra credit, which will boost your exam score. If you want to avoid a paper, participate and sign up in the studies.
I these recent reviews seem kind of crazy to me. She is pretty clear what she wants and she answers any questions you have. You have to the study guide. They are extremely helpful and you can ask questions about them if you need help. Overall great teacher, but please pay attention or you won't pass.
TAKR HER!!!! Show up to class, be ready to take notes. She offers a study guide for every exam, if you do the study guide it counts as extra credit. Study for your exams and it you'll do great. She's super nice and willing to answer any questions you might have.
Professor Barkley was great! Even though this class is very lecture heavy, she made her lectures really easy to follow. The occasional films we watched in the class were also very interesting. She makes an effort to care about you AND your grades!
Be ready to work hard. Shes very unorganized and will have you all over the place. Talks extremely fast, and you will end up being very confused at the end. Her study guide questions are also all over the place.
I am so confused with her test, there's 53 questions for 68 minutes. That's long and hard. It used to be 42 for the same amount of time which was not bad.
Shes a great and easy professor!! As long as you listen to her lectures and answer her study guide questions along the way then this class will be easy for you. Her lectures are definitely needed to pass her class and you dont really need the book
It is a MUST to watch her prerecorded lectures... they are LENGTHY! Which I did not appreciate. It was overwhelming. The Cyber Rat projects are helpful to understand the lecture concepts same with the homework. The Study Guide is pointless and messy, they were only worth two points? With 20+ questions! Ridiculous. Good luck!
I honestly don't know why Professor Barkley gets such bad reviews and complaints. Yes, her class can be a bit difficult and she can be a tough grader but it's not just because she can, it's to prepare you for Grad school! Her feedback is thorough and very helpful. Provides a study guide. Understanding and flexible. Going to Grad school? Take her.
Ridiculously difficult teaching skills. No clarity in lectures. Lectures are confusing and frustrating. She's not approachable with questions and will make you feel dumb for evening asking. When grading work she will tell you, you are wrong but not explain why so how are we supposed to learn from the mistake we made?
She has been really well with responding back to emails but I do feel uncomfortable asking any question just because of the her responses, I think she could be kinder. I often feel dumb after speaking to her or asking questions leading me to not want to ask her anything. Her lectures are confusing and she isn't straight forwarded with her info.
Her lazy teaching style stresses everyone out. Exams are a WAY harder than what she actually teaches us. Her teaching style is MULTIPLE pre-recorded lectures that are VERY unorganized/unclear. I regretted enrolling for this class since day 2. She doesn't assign too much work but its hard to raise up anything after those tough exams. IMO, Beware
One of the hardest classes I've ever taken. Zoom meetings are almost pointless as we just spend time watching the recorded lectures. Too many recorded lectures and no real teaching. Lectures have me lost and tend to not correlate to what's actually on the exam. Many professors are nice enough to drop a quiz or exam, she is not as accommodating.
I liked Cynthia. Class is kinda hard but its mostly because the material gets very technical. We we're her last class of the day so she would go really fast &you could tell she was burnt out. Its not impossible to pass as long as you pay attention, dedicate yourself to UNDERSTANDING and take good notes. and beware she does use advanced language.
Her pre-recorded lectures are going to be your lifeline. That is the only reason I was able to achieve the grade I received; by rewatching her pre-recorded lectures at 1.5x speed, doing all of the assigned work and prioritizing her class above all other classes .Honestly, she has a wealth of knowledge but is not approachable and can be demeaning.
Dr. Barkley is highly knowledgeable in her field and I will be taking more of her classes in the future. Psyc 310 is a dense class and if you are prepared to work and take extensive notes on literally everything during the lecture you will pass with no issue.
Her class was okay, I enjoyed monday videos, but be prepared to read and pay attention in lectures. The quizzes online and exams in person really impact your grade. She is overall respectful and engaging.
Dr. Barkley did everything in her power to convey the material appropriately, as well as making herself available during office hours and email. While the material was dense and difficult to grasp initially, her pre-recorded lectures are a godsend for those who want to revisit the material once more. Show up, take notes, and study hard.
Prof. Barkley's class is an easy A if you put in the effort. The only complaints I had about her class is that she doesn't allow a full sheet of notes on exams (only a 4x6 notecard allowed), so be prepared to cram your handwriting if you're bad at studying like me. Attendance isn't mandatory, since she has pre-recorded lectures up.
All of the material you need is in her recorded lectures, but there are a LOT of lectures. Before each of the 3 exams you take in the 310 class, there are at least 4-5 hours of recorded lectures to watch. It will take you twice as long if you are taking decent notes, but as long as you take thorough notes, you'll be fine for the exams.
She recorded her lectures. Lectures fairly easy to understand. I did supplemental instruction too, it was very (*VERY*) helpful. Lectures corresponded to textbook, only first few online quizzes heavy on book material, and I didn't open it for the rest of the sem. Exams were easy, she allowed notecards and was very accessible outside of class.
This prof provides excellent lectures, many only 20-30 min which helps with retention. Do the detailed study guides as prep for the tests and you will do well. Only a 4x6 card of notes is allowed for the tests. Seek assistance if this is a challenge as you will need to organize the points and write very small. She is approachable, kind, supportive.
Recorded lectures are available if you can't make it to class. Lectures are pretty heavy, a lot of info to take in. Cyber Rat is a difficult assignment but if you don't understand it, email her and she'll normally respond the same day. She offers extra credit for doing study guides which is helpful.
Welcome video was intimidating; however, Barkley has a ton of knowledge. Goes off on a tangent in her lectures. Exams weren't bad. CyberRat was OK, but unnecessary. I got a B- as I missed the first C/R assignment. If I would've done it, would've gotten an A for sure. Hardest class I took last semester. Glad I passed! (Psych310- Cond. & Learning)
She was a good teacher but she talked a lot during lectures and was very monotone. dont recommend if you have a hard time focusing.
Great prof, she does speak a lot during lectures but personally I had no problem with it she explained everything very well. She only gave quizzes and exams and extra credit. Both quizzes/exams were online, weren't difficult, just pay attention, take notes you'll pass. She also post all her lectures which is very helpful. (exams/quizzes on canvas)
You would be unlucky if you didn't have this professor to teach you psychology.
Lectures are prerecorded for this course and on average 30 minutes long each. She's a very critical grader and a bit rude if you aren't doing the work exactly as she likes. I was accused of making up my data because my graphs weren't to her standards, but it was solely because everything is explained on a doc and I couldn't fully comprehend it.
Barkley's class is info-dense, but her pre-recorded lectures are a lifesaver. Take diligent notes, utilize helpful resources like unstuck study, and you'll do well. The workload is heavy, but manageable with dedication.
She gave 3 exams, and a final (all multiple choice & allowed us to take at home) Few homework assignments, (multiple choice, unlimited attempts) She gave us study guides, that were extra credit. Class was optional, I missed a few of them and was completely fine. The only way to fail her class in my opinion is if you literally don't try.
She is a really good professor, her lectures can get somewhat boring which disengages you.
Honestly, I really enjoyed taking this course with Dr. Barkley. She is a little lecture heavy, but they are extremely informative and interesting!!! I recommend watching one lecture video each day during the week and take good notes. If you break up each weeks lecture videos, they aren't so bad.
so many extra credit opportunities, lectures were in person but on canvas anyways. easy exams and easy quizzes. on the exams you can have a front and page piece of paper for notes. would recommend taking her class.
Great professor. Quick responses through Canvas. Lecture heavy BUT very informative. If you watch it throughout the week, it's not bad. Take good notes and attended meetings if you have any questions!
