man!this woman must have ben in the boot camp of matheaticians!!! she is tough and is very demanding of u.u must be be neat and clear and must follow all her rules.if its for the grade then forget goin to her classes but u will end up learning quite a lot
She is definitely old school. If you are like me and enjoy seeing pathetic slackers (pretending to be students) squirm - take her classes.
She is so scary at first...but listen and do exactly what she says and you will make a GOOD grade. I followed her instructions and had a 108 average in her class.
Very hard but I learned a lot!
VERY HARD! Do not take unless you love math and really want to challenge yourself.
Unless you are a wiz kid, avoid this lady. She is a very fast paced teacher. She is very hard to keep up with. She has a different way of teaching.
This class cost me so much extra money for all the useless projects we had to do which had nothing to do with math. She was very unclear about the directions for projects until it was the day to turn them in. We never did math in there but oddly enough had tests on math!!
Not a good teacher to have. She is very confusing and just difficult to please. She is not very clear in her teaching or what she wants from her students.
NEVER EVER TAKE THIS WOMAN...horrible teacher
had some very interesting ideas on how to present math to "elementary" students. very intelligent woman, and i think she had a sincere desire to see her students do well.requires lots of outside class time--NOT for slackers or if u r thinking it's an easy "a"--which is not always a bad thing.
probably the hardest teacher in the math department, but if you can handle her you can handle anyone in the math dept., or any other dept. for that matter
Doesn't explain much. Lots of extra projects involving $$. Expects you to teach yourself many of the course basics. Offers extra help, but then confuses you more with help. Always gives the hard way to work it "just in case." Talks in third person...
Soooo impossible She makes Math way to complicated. Homework folder has to be just so
If you take one advise during your whole college career, take this one: DO NOT TAKE MS. CRUMB FOR MATH 113.

for those of you looking for a 113 prof, she is not the one. i love math and her teaching style is completely backwards. she give's you an assignment, grade's you on it and then show you how to do. it shouldn't be a grading issue before you learn the matter, but after we learn the subject matter.

she is one great teacher. All you need to do is work hard and think possitive. I had problems when I decided to get another instructor, he started at a different point and I had to play catch up. Professor crumb is a good instructor but she has a different schedule when it come to teachings. Keep that in mind. I am in the air force now and i will never forget the hard work I had to put into getting a job accomplished.
I took her husband too. He is a total mind wiper. He revealed that his wife graded his tests so I took her. Those who rated her low would say having to actually work in a class and getting no (extra credit) work a bad thing, unless she has vastly changed in menopause or something. The math clinic students she assigns (unless you are in a semester with an anal student) are some of the best. It can be difficult to understand her just because she thinks a little dyslexic like me:)

As a person, she is not bad. As a teacher, I was lost. I do not remember Trig being this hard in high school. I know some things have been added to the course because it is college level, but she teaches in such an odd and hard way. Outside homework and online quizzes were asked to be done A LOT! Beware....
Worst math teacher I've had. VERY confusing and unclear. Have never worked so hard in one class. My other grades dropped because of this one. FOR YOUR OWN GOOD, DO NOT TAKE HER. I'm an engineering major and thought (key word) i was good at math. if you take this, you're only setting yourself up for failure.
Mrs Crumb expects you to know your stuff. I wanted to drop at first, but if you stick with it you'll get it.I strongly suggest if you have any problems GO TO HER OFFICE HOURS.She is more then willing to help!!
Mrs. Crumb is the best math teacher I have ever had. She inspired and pushed me to my full potential. Yes, she expects a lot out of her students but she gives twice as much back. I only wish that she taught CAL II and III. If you want to slide through math don't take her. But if you want to really learn and know your stuff, then she is for you.
I thought that Mrs. Crumb expected way too much work from her students...I dropped the class
Avoid that woman like the plague for your own good. Her CRN for Cal I was 10-666 and for good reason. She is the worst teacher I have ever had.
Not for the faint hearted in math! Very good teacher though.... takes the extra time to help if you ask. She has a very unique outlook on math and when you have the basic understanding down, her methods make everything easier. LOADS of hw so be prepared to put in many extra hours for this class. Great teacher if you love math like me =)
You have to do all this online work, which I got As on & was easy. The work she gives you, however, is hard and tricky. She basically tells you that she makes it very hard so it will make us better. So I guess if you want to get better, but receive an awful grade at the same time, take the class. She's not a bad person and she has good intentions,
Worst teacher in the world and seems to be a little off if you ask me. She assigns all of this crazy stuff that has nothing to do with the class. I wouldn't advise her to teach anyone that has a phd so far as college fresh or jun. She is the worst teacher i have had at south, and the school is waisting our money by paying her.
Worst teacher in the world as far as I'm concerned. I had a three tragedies happen in my family the semester I took her, and I explained it to her and she said she would work with me. So I didnt drop at the end of the semester big F, and I even had proof but still got an F. I guess she has never experienced death of a love one or 2 in my case.
i would not recommend her class to ANYONE...and by anyone i mean ANYone...not even my worst enemies..well on sencond thought maybe yeah..i would recommend it to my enemies cause then they'd suffer....a punishment worse than being poisoned by polonium..trust me..DONT TAKE HER
She has got to be the WORST math teacher i have ever had in my life!!!!!! She confuses the crap out of you and at the same time contradicts herself!!!!! Her tests are brutal and her graphing projects are even more so. If you struggle in math, DO NOT get her as your teacher. I had her for MA 115 and she taught us like we were a Calculus II class
She may be pretty bad and confusing and all. But compared to K. Murdick, she is a WALK IN THE PARK! Word to the wise for Crumb: DO THE MYMATHLAB! Do it! Do it! Do it! If you get behind even a LITTLE, it will come crashing down on you like a snowball. Don't EVER get behind because its TOO fast-paced to catch back up. Oh, and she is really nice lady.
Had her for Pre-Calculus with Algebra and Trig and it was insane. The amount of work is like that of an upperlevel course. She's an alright teacher, and she does extend dates for the internet quizzes and homework, if enough people ask for it. Her in-class tests are super-hard, so be prepared. If you're stuck with her, good luck.
Very nice teacher but very hard. If you are good at math and want a class that will really prepare you for upper level math classes, take her. She is tough but very willing to help people succeed. I wouldnt take her again but I think that she has helped me for the future.
The way this lady thinks will make no sense to ANYONE. She will explain a topic for the entire class period and you will walk out more confused than you were to begin with. Her grading system is HORRIBLE. the entire class was failing when i withdrew from her class. whatever you do, do NOT take her!
She's ok
She scared me. When I first met her, she was so nice. I wonder what happened? Nobody in my class passed any of the quizzes, the tests were horrible. I studied everything she told me to, and I still had a very hard time. Avoid at all costs!
I had her for elem. math and it was not fun. I do not reccomend taking her however I can't say that I didn't learn something 'cause I did it was just an extremely rough class and it was mainly due to her work load.
I liked her. Classes were hard, and group projects were almost impossible. Go to class and she is very willing to help during office hours. Online homework is time-consuming, but can help your grade. It is a very challenging class, but it is worth it.
had her for cal II. she's really rough, so if you don't like going to class or doing homework, you should prolly look elsewhere. she has an odd sense of humor, too.
If you are taking this woman for fresh. seminar,DON'T. Other prof's only require you to participate in 4 on campus activities, she requires 14.BORING,and confusing. For some reason she had us doing math in her class??? Had nothing to do with the subject!I think she is just too smart for her own good.
Math is one of my favorite subjects. Dr. Crumb is very knowledgeable of what she teaches. I enjoyed this class, but you do have to work for your grade. She will explain something many times until you understand it. Work load is HUGE, but i think reasonable. I would recommend if taking higher maths.
Mrs. Crumb is a very intellectual teacher. She knows what she is talking about, but no one else does. Everyone in our class was at a loss and she made us rethink our Elementary Education. She has never taught Elementary Math or children for that matter. Please do not take Mrs. Crumb for this class, you will regret your decision.
Mrs.Crumb is a very well educated individual, but she has NO PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE in elementary education! Her workload is HUGE and she teaches Elementary Math the way she thinks it should be taught and not how the Ed. Dept.intended! How ridiculous is that? That is like making someone a Captain on a ship that has never driven a boat!
Tough but fair. Really knows math and will make sure you know it too. Expect a huge workload but a better understanding of Calculus at the end of the semester. Wish she taught Calculus II this semester.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!! If you ask her a question for help she comes off very rude and does not answer your question all the way. She acts like she does not want to help at all. she also gives ridiculous group assignments and tons of homework.she also does not mark which problems you mark wrong on the test and gives unfair grades. no partial credit atal
AVOID IF CAN! SWEET LADY, SHOW NO PITY!REALLY HAVE TO STAY ON TOP OR ELSE YOU'RE GONNA SET YOURSELF UP FOR FAILURE!
Great teacher... Students need strong math skills.
Very hard teacher, not good at explaining the subject and very hard at grading us.
HORRIBLE teacher. I have NEVER dropped a class but I did this time. AVOID her at all costs!!!
Omg what a bad teacher. on top of how hard her class is she makes you do Very hard group projects. Do not take this woman!
I would suggest that people avoid her Completely. Her lectures are useless and frustrating. She raises her voice so high and gets so angry during her lectures and also goes off on stupid tangents. Lastly her final was insane it was 4 tests and she made one 10 Q section worth 10 points of the Over all CoursE grade. Ridiculous!
teaching is bad, not fair in grading. tons of homework. you will not improve in mathematics with this class. Do not recommend to take class with her.
I don't know. I liked her. Her teaching method was a bit odd, yes. BUT, she makes you feel that the grade you got is the grade you really earned in the class. Go to class, do the work, don't be afraid to ask any questions, and you should be fine. Can't guarantee an 'A' though, heh.
the worst teacher possible. she does not give partial credit for problems, either its wrong or it right. not very flexible with meeting outside of office hours and gives tons of homework that is turned in for a grade. I was making a worst grade in her Calculus I class than I made in my first Calculus I class.
I am a very nontraditional student and I felt this teacher knew her stuff, but does not know how to relay it to her students. She is very difficult to understand and gets very angry during class. However, she is willing to help outside of class, but you almost feel intimidated to even go see her. I would not recommend her to anyone.
I have never worked so hard for an A in my life!that being said, listen.Mrs. Crumb is obviously really effin smart she just doesnt do the best job at conveying that info to the students so you def have to come to class and ask questions. She seems mean but is actually nice outside of class.if u can pass her class u can pass n e math class
Between her useless lectures, group assignments, and daily online and book homework I found myself struggling to keep up. Taking her was a huge mistake--ended up dropping it.
I never believed that my grade could depend on a teacher before this class. DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER. I have taken pre-cal, cal, trig, and linear algebra before. I took Crumb for Cal1 and dropped the course - i have never quit a course before.
i really dislike this teacher. she is not willing to help and i feel she is intentially trying to fail her class.
Not a great teacher! If you've taken Pre-cal and cal it may be a little easier but still people struggle. Our class started out with like 60 people or so and we ended with 25 or less :( Unless you want to study 6 hours a DAY for this ONE class i would not recommend.she does give a pretest out before the test which helps and its extra credit.
Okay, I am really sick of the winers that complain about crumb. Yes, she is hard, gives tons of homework, and is a tough grader. But newsflash this is college! She expects a lot from her students and you have to work hard for an A. TAKE HER..GO TO CLASS..DO YOUR HW.. STUDY.. ASK QUESTIONS and you will pass. and prepare your self for the real world
i hated this teacher at first.. But i didnt drop, i stuck with at and it helped me a lot. She is very hard but she gets to the heart and soul of math. method of teaching is weird but if you ask for help, she will help.. She also gives a pretest that is exactly like the test. If you have a future of math, take her.. very sweet lady and prepares you
Slightly more difficult than some other Cal 1 classes quite possibly. At the same time, however, I feel like I learned more than other classes. I would suggest going to class every day and doing bonus homework. She grades on a large curve usually.
I would strongly recommend to take another teacher!
Not sure why everyone thinks she was so mean. She was extremely nice, and very willing to help anyone who was helping themselves. She is very difficult and expects a lot from her students. But if you really put in the effort, there's a low chance of failing the class. I liked her..
Well i keep seeing mixed remarks, but personally she doesnt help at all. If i dont understand something i might as well just stop the section because she wont explain it clearly enough to me. Maybe im just stupid. but she doesnt help. im basically teaching myself out of the book.
I think I cried every Wednesday night while trying to do homework. DO NOT TAKE HER EVER...EVER!!
Most difficult class I have ever taken. I don't understand her teaching style and when asked to re-explain something, she just made me more confused. I basically had to teach myself out of the book. She assigns too much homework, is very OCD and sometimes isn't clear on when assignments are due. Many people have dropped. DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS!
Easy A if you come to class everyday and pay attention. She will not leave a student confuse. Only thing that may seem troublesome is that she only gives two tests during the semester, the midterm and final exam. Beware only 10 questions.
Great teacher if you already have some basic knowledge of algebra. Assigns lots of homework and grades it each week.Very fair in grading. Gives points where ever she can. If you go to her office hours and she sees that you are making some effort she will help you out in the end. Overall, not a terrible teacher.
TERRIBLE!!!!AS AN ENTRY LEVEL CLASS THIS WOMAN EXPECTS YOU TO KNOW WAY TOO MUCH PRIOR TO HER TEACHING
This teacher is EXTREMELY difficult and gives ridiculously hard assignments. She can be confusing and fast-paced in class but she knows her stuff and can explain it clearly in her office. She is passionate about math, and you will leave KNOWING math. I'd highly recommend her for engineering students.
Never take Crumb! She is absolutely awful! If you are reading his now take the following steps. 1. RUN! 2. Drop the class of find a different Calculus class. ANYONE IS BETTER! 3. If you decide to stay, a) start praying now. b) study your a$$ off and c) see steps 1 & 2. I'm praying for you if your taking Crumb!
She is very hard and very unhelpful. Never take her class. if she is the only teacher teaching it then just wait for another semester to take that class.
Mrs. Crumb is a very smart woman, especially with when it comes to math concepts. Yet, for the first time ever I had to drop a class. I already have my associates degree from another school, and she by far was the hardest teacher I've ever had. Her ideas in which to teach students math is outrageous and makes it nearly impossible to learn anything.
RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! Do not ever take her. I was utterly failing this class, I dropped this class and took with another teacher and i currently have a 99. If you wanna meet the devil then take this class!
3 test {Midterm,Final,& 1 in class test} 2many take home quizzes which r the hardest things ever. The final was fairly easy. Give usa online homework and a homework notebook grade. Attendance not mandatory but 4% added on to your grade for perfect attendance. Wont take her again. I spent more time doin her work then with my other 4 class combined.
I took her class as a Freshman, and she made me lose interest in math. She expects all students to know EVERYTHING about Pre-Cal even though 99% of the class didn't, including me. I have to re-take the class because of it. Word of advice: if you have a chance to take another professor, do it. Don't spend your time and hard earned money on this.
She was horrible! Don't get me wrong. She would try to help you if you had any questions but she expected the class to remember every little detail about previous math classes. She would say something along the lines that we must of had horrible teachers prior to her since we didn't know the information. If given the chance, take someone else!!!
Don't do this to yourself. Seiously, it's not worth it. She told our entire class to drop out of school because "it's obviously not worth the money" we paid to be there. Don't do it.
She is extremely tuff. However, if you plan on taking follow on math courses it would be worth taking her. Because she demands that you learn the matirial.
She was the worst math teacher I have ever had. If you didn't do the work how she wanted it done, it was wrong. I loved math before her, now I hate it! After taking the class over with a different professor: A.
If you want minimal effort and a tough time in future math classes, don't take her...she is the only instructor that truly cares how you do, which explains her high expectations. She isn't just "showing up", she's there outside of class to help and gives ample extra credit towards the end to help boost your grade. Keep an open mind
She is definitely one of the most hardcore professors around. She is tough, and set in her ways. However, I respect her and she will work after classes or in between her time to help you as much as possible. If you are a complainer of professors don't take her unless you want a real challenge.
Professor Crumb is great for any person who wants/needs to UNDERSTAND math, if your degree doesnt involve high level math pick someone else. Class is a lot easier if you see her in her office, she really wants you to do well.
I'd recommend her for anyone who both will go on to upper level math courses and has thick skin. She is very rude in class and has high expectations, but knows what she is talking about. She can sometimes be unclear about assignments, but she is extremely fair when grading. Still, Don't expect an easy A here. She just wants to see effort from you.
She is tough! Do your HW and all assignments. she is very helpful if you take the time to go to her office and ask for help. would not reccomend her to a lazy worker.
NEVER TAKE THIS LADY!!! take anyone else!! she is a nice person but not a good teacher!!!
Just don't take her.
She is horrible. i used to love math. She gets upset if you don't understand the material. Never in her office for office hours if help is needed. She expects you to know the stuff before she teaches it and assigns crazy projects that are very hard! save yourself, and DO NOT TAKE HER! we started with 41 ppl in the class, & ended with 15.
Its Mrs. Crumb, she is full of surprises. If you dont love math or awesome at it. Do NOT take her, this class with screw you over. Tons of work with very little time to do it. Was decent at this math in high school but not in this class.
Mrs. Crumb is very difficult. I was in AP Calculus in high school. Her class has been the hardest math class I've ever had to take because of the ridiculous amount of work required. I just simply did not have the time to do all the work. Also too much time is spent of preparing for Calculus and not the current class.
I DONT KNOW WHY EVERYONE IS SO HARSH. BELIEVE IT OR NOT I LOVE THE CLASS SHE ALWAYS KEPT ME LAUGHING. I MADE AN A IN HER 112 CLASS AND THE ONLY REASON I FAIL 115 WAS BECAUSE I STOP GOING TO CLASS FOR STUPID REASON.
She didnt seem that bad to me. Very strict on what she wants for homework and how to format answers on the test. But I came out with an A. Just have to stay on the homework and online homework because I would forget sometimes
About 30 people dropped the course. She has unrealistic expectations for a full-time college student, do not take her.
Her teaching style is perfect, for math majors. She explains everything in the most difficult way possible, and she gets angry when you don't understand the material. AVOID AT ALL COSTS. SHE'S A GPA KILLER.
I never understood math until I took her course. Hardest class I STILL rave about to others as being the foundation I wished I could've gotten years ago. Take her - you will work hard, but it will be worth it, especially if you have students who "don't get it" one day in your own classroom.
