She has been by far the worst teacher I have ever had. She locks the door at exactly when class starts, and doesn't let students in if late, her tests are the worst ever with multiple answers and must all be correct to receive the correct grade for the q
Her class is easy, staying awake during class is not. Repeats concepts about 15 times and is very hard to follow
teachers has a mean demeanor. take at your own risk... you've been warned
has plenty of failing students. not the teacher who enjoy's teaching.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!!This women's on a power trips. This class is very hard. On her exams she doesn't accept your answer if you rely on the text or her lecture. I dont see the point of going to class then. 90% of her students fail
Not a bad teacher but hard to please. Tests are in essay format and it is unclear what is expected for answers. If you EVER plan to be late or absent DON'T take this class because 33% of the grade is homework and partipation.
An epitome of a post-menopausal anger displacement. Wish you all the best of luck if you found this after the fact. Ta' Ta' Hey- lady its not your fault, life cant be that bad.
Warning, Warning, Warning. Do Not Register In This Class, The Teacher leactures till the last minute with no break, boring, she loves to talk a lot and ask a lot too, she be picking on people from her attendance sheet to ask them questions. Her tests are Hard.
The teacher did not want you to use quotes from the book, her notes, or on-line. THERE'S NOTHING LEFT!!!
I didn't think that this class was as bad as everyone is saying but it was online. The tests are VERY hard, you basically need to know every quote from every person. Homework is easy, a lot of work but easy and easy 80 points, also makes you think. She wasn't bad at all online.
Rudest teacher ever! Wouldn't help me even try to pass the class!
I ended up dropping her class in this semester. I don't see her point and even I studied hard, I got a D on the class
Do NOT take this class until this teacher decides to grade her very strange tests on a curve. The subject matter is not that difficult, but the teacher does have a very negative, unclear way of presenting and grading!! Online class was so bad, one of my friends contacted the dean. Sad, really, because the subject is interesting.
I took the telecourse, which apparently is better than doing it face-to-face. I thought she was pretty cool, but her grading system was pretty tough. I ended up with a B.
How much easier can this get?? I just had my book open to the index and found each person for the questions on our tests. I got an A with NO effort.

I love Philosophy, but it was impossible to get an A in this class, which I usually don't have a problem with. I got A's on everything that was quiz form, but failed everything that was left to her judgement. Made no sense. I ended with my only C, and I'm
I started this class and had to immediatly drop! She wanted everyone to read 10 chapters in a book within 1 weeks time. HELLO I go to school full time and work. This class is impossible!
Stupid **** is arrogant and doesn't teach well at all. Tried to stay in her class and try to get a C but I noticed so many people dropping so I dropped before the expected date. She is stupid and doesn't help anyone at all. Power Trip tramp DO NOT TAKE HE
Seems like she could be sweet but never actually saw it happen. Very, very difficult tests based on random things that are easily misinterpreted.
She embarassed me in front of everyone in the class. She is uncaring, rude, and obviously a control freak with an ego. Get real chicka...Hated her!
Somewhat of a nice person but when it comes to teaching the material, she is very vague and leaves students to wonder. Her voice is annoying and is very rude when asked questions. Her tests are ridiculous. Most people range in the C-D range. Just take this class online or with another teacher. DON'T TAKE HER.
I lasted 2 weeks online. A lot of reading- but it's very intersting. She gave me full credit for the first assignment but then a C on the test. And I understood and enjoyed the material! The questions were vague and it's difficult to know what to answer. I even pulled out my book during the quiz and still got a C. What the heck???
Well she is on some kind of power trip but if you do what you are suppose to do she is nice. I took her and she treated me well and was not rude and i didnt study that much and got a B. She is a good teacher dont listen to all these comments.
Truly horrid, just as most of the ratings here state. Stay completely away from this lady online or in person.
Horrible idea to take this teacher online (not sure about campus). Instead of making the tests more difficult (as open book tests should be) she makes the timer on them ridiculously short. So prepare to be graded on speed, with no time to check your answers. She was clearly not concerned about her students well being. For shame.
I took two classes with this professor. PHI-11 and Hum-4, both online. Let me just say that when I recognized that she was the same one from my PHI-11 class, I was dreading the Hum-4 class. She is rude, and is not compassionate towards her students at all. I had to miss a quiz because of a death in the family, and she refused to let me make it up.

I'm Sorry, she's strict and rude, I dont want people to go through what I did and have seen so please mark my word, take another professor.
Horrible teacher. She creates her own notes and sets you up for failure. She creates test that have answers that make no sense according to both her notes and her chosen text book but will not discuss it with you. She is slow to respond, and when she does it is always negative. Please learn from my mistake, stear clear of her class.
This lady is insane hard, I lasted about three weeks in her online class, and the material she covers doesn’t seem to have a right answer no matter what you say it is incorrect. This teacher is the most difficult instructor I have ever had. DO NOT TAKE ANY CLASS WITH THIS PROFESSOR!
WORST TEACHER EVER! do not take a class with her she is totally out to fail students.
This prof is truly the worst ever! i hope she goes the way of all things, and soon! she is not helpful at all and i hated the texts she chose. take masterson instead!
=(!!!!
After fighting for a few weeks to obtain the almost impossible textbook, I was dropped from her online class, because i was not able to submit "homework".How am I suppose to do work if The book she chose was old and the bookstore didnt have it. I will NEVER take this Instructor again!!
This teacher is the worst I have ever had. I love going to school and I love learning, but I couldn't hack this class. I missed a quiz for water polo (a school sponsored activity) and she wouldn't let me make it up. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!!
You go in and you expect a high grade because the subject matter of the class isn't hard. After my first test, i had serious doubts as to whether i can pull an A. But, just participate A LOT so that she knows your name and talk to her about your tests so you can figure out what she wants. But almost no one in my section got an A.
I cannot tell you how much I loved my Humanities 4 Ancient Cultures & Civilization class! I learned so many new & different things. Ms. Gobatie was very polite, nice and responsive. She was helpful and insightful, very smart. The assignments were not hard, they were fun. I enjoyed it & hopefully will take another one of her classes.
She was insulting and rude. I did not like her teaching style at all. Very demeaning. How is she still employed?
I took this teacher online and I will never take her again. She is uptight and rigid and leaves no room for mistakes or kindness. The tests were impossible and she didnt like anything you wrote. Nothing is good enough for this teacher, she should retire!
Basically, these people are just complaining because they are to incompetent to pass the class. When it comes to making up quizzes and turning in homework late she tells you in her SYLLABUS that she dose not do it. She gives alot of help in her notes online. And she sees when hard work is put into the class. If you do your work you do fine.
The Class is hard I wont lie However if you do your homework you get 15 pts Just make an effort and you will get full credit The test are difficult but study and you should do fine READ the text and her notes Finally when it comes to the grade participation is a big deal I would have had a low A in the class but I got a high B because of participat
She deducted 35 points from each students grade at the end ot the semester without telling the students. When we asked her about it she said that it was done to help us.What!!!!!! Also, she provided little lecture and made the tests and projects difficult.
She's not a bad professor. She likes to give homework..but, she does post the answers for the homework before it's due. The tests are difficult. Most essay and fill in the blank. So getting the answer right is subjective to her interpretation. I doubt anyone gets an A, I had an A but then she only gave me 90 for participation. ended up with a B.
I took her many years ago at RCC. I made the mistake of calling her "Miss Gobatie" instead of "Ms. Gobatie". She made a big stink out of it in the middle of the class and was rude about what was an honest mistake. (At the time I didn't know the difference between the two.) Didn't appreciate that.
I had her for an online class. She was very unfair and rude. I would never take this lady ever again. She dropped me from her online class after I missed one quiz. She is a horrible teacher, and her class is very boring and demanding.
this teacher is very rude, and does not seem to value the students' desire or ability to learn. she picks on people in class, and i have caught her leering at our quizzes like we are incompetent]: her tests and quizzes are subject to her own very flawed opinions rather than the text. she should not be teaching.
Makes the midterms as hard as possible..almost impossible to get a "A" makes it difficult just to pass..pretty much leaves you to learn the material on your own. Notes are pretty much same as the text. Take at your own risk.
She is such a horribly rude person who doesn't deserve the title "Teacher" since she doesn't teach anything at all. All she does is humiliate and degrade her students. She told me I should drop my online class and go to her class on campus because Im a disabled student. Thats crazy since I have completed over 40 of my units online with a b average.
do not like her way of teaching
this teacher is terrible! She dropped me from her online class because supposedly I hadn't submitted a mandatoy assignment--which I submitted on the first day of class. After I asked her to recheck she refused! Her online class is not correctly listed---it's a teleweb course instead of all online. I can't believe this woman is a teacher!
CAUTION do not take her online class. She is not a good teacher, rude and doesnt help when being asked a question, her exams are hard, her essay are as hard as I have seen before.I wish I had known I could not have taken her class.
Impossible. You see from the other comments that she is rude and unforgiving. You read the book and study, but then you take the test and you're left with a dumbfounded look because you never remembering covering all of the material. If you get an A or even a B in this class then you deserve a Nobel prize.
I got an A in her online class. Thanks for the Nobel Prize. I don't think her class is that hard; but you definitely have to teach yourself. I think she is a horrible teacher. I got almost all the multiple choice questions correct on the exams but she would figure out how to give me B's on them by taking off points on the short answers. She sucks.
Really bad. Out of four years of college at RCC, this is where I got my first C (I get mostly A's). Lots of reading. Short answer tests were easy but the quizzes had a lot of questions not covered in the book. Bad communication and involvement with the class. I loved the info I learned from the book, but hated the way she graded/tested.
She is very confusing and gets is stuck in her way of thinking. She contradicts her points of view with that of the text. She picks parts of the text that agrees with her view and disregards the others! I would not recommend her.
RUDE RUDE RUDE. She contradicts herself, her tests are impossible and she is highly condescending. AVOID her online course.
Crass, inconsistent, vague, unmerciful, and haughty. If you take her it will be the greatest mistake of your education. The staff back her up, so it is pointless to discuss anything with her.
Not a good teacher. contradicts her self regularly, diffuclt grader if you don't give her excatly what she is looking for you get Zero points which sucks when you put a lot of work into your work. She needs help to learn how to teach and provided constructive feedback.
This Professor is a psycho nut case. Their in no way of working with her even if you are the best student in the world. NO ONE LOVES HER!!!!!!!!!!!
This class was great. If you do the readings and ask for help. She is more than willing to help you.She is very accessible and very clear if you ask the right questions. If you put in the effort you will get an "A" Her grading is fair.Don't be deterred by all these negative comments, these people probably didn't even read. If you try she will help you
Her lectures are boring because she goes on forever about little details that don't matter.
Do not take her class!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS TEACHER!!!!! She is very rude, and could careless about your grade, she gives no extra credit, no extra help, its her way or no way. The textbook is used for everything so make sure you purchase it.
She was very unclear in her rules- giving guidelines of what it means to receive full participation points, after I exceeded them, I was still only given 88 out of 100 points. The distinction between the HW and tests were monumental- having got 100% on all HW, but never scoring over a 75% on the tests. The class was not structured well at all.
I just completed the 8 week hybrid course. I thought the class was great. The instructor was very clear on what she expected. She tells you in class and also online what she expects. Do all your homework, discussions, and study for the exams and you will get an A. You do have to study and participate if you want that A! Textbooks are mandatory.
Just completed 8 week hybrid course. Ms. Gobatie completely explains what she expects in class as well as online. If you want an A..Study! Participate! and Do your Homework! Quizzes and Exams are not that complicated if you study. Textbooks are highly mandatory! Overall great class.
She's not at all vague about what she expects of you. She explains the material very clearly (almost to a fault). On the quizzes use the language used in the books. The books are your God for this class especially Ruggiero. Do the work and memorize what you read and you'll be golden.
She is a great teacher As well as good humored. She is blunt and will not hesitate to speak her mind, but the only time she may sound "rude" is when you do/say something stupid. Its a hard class but she explains the content quite well. YOU MUST WORK/participate! All these people who rate her badly must be the ones who dropped out half way through.
I took this class in the summer and it definitely took effort, but its completely manageable to obtain a good grade. Do all the homework and come to class each day and participate. Her quizzes are a pain in the beginning, but become SO much easier near the end of the class. I would recommend her.
Here's some perspective: I'm taking two philosophy classes. I'm taking this one online. In this class I have a high C, in the other I have a 103%. This class has overly immense amounts of work, none of which is going to adequately prepare you for the ridiculous tests. *AVOID THIS CLASS*. There are better teachers that will give you a better grade.
She is a very sweet lady if you are on her good side. Attend and participate in class, READ the books, DO NOT TEXT IN CLASS and you are sure to do well.
Sarcastic and mean to you when you mean well.
Online class is hard. There are 2 books needed. 4 lessons due every 3 weeks, each lesson is only worth 5 points (but a page of writing). You can't send your work as an attachments & if it isn't labeled correctly you don't get credit. The class gets harder as it goes along. The class is only based on 350 points. Miss anything your screwed.
This class is definitely manageable. Do your homework every week, which includes the assigned readings and answering the related questions at the end of each chapter and you will be fine. There is an in class quiz at the beginning of every class. The quizes get easier as you begin to realize her pattern. I got an A in this class. Totally doable.
One of the rudest profesors I have ever taken in my entire life. Her messages and feedback are full of disdain and rudeness. Her comments could be said in a nicer way, but basically she just makes you feel stupid!! I am taking her for a winter class Phil 11 online; her assignments are managble but she grades very harshly on the tests!!!
The work itself is not that hard. What I disliked was that she sounds extremely rude with her response to your questions. Rudest teacher I've had. She will tell you in the syllabus that you could ask specific questions but when you do she will tell you to read it else where. I got the feeling as if she didn't want to be bothered. Overall not good
I'm sure she's a great person out of class, but as a professor, she's not the best. The material itself is not that difficult. It's her subjective sometimes biased opinion that gets in the way. She expresses what she expects of you, but not how she expects it. Take at your own risk.
She is AMAZING!!!! .She explains really well. very clear on homework and chapter studies. she makes herself very much available to the students. she is quick to reply. i love the way she sets quizzes as the first thing in evrey class meeting. This makes everyone read the material. GREAT TEACHER. TAKE HER IF YOU WANT TO LEARN.
This professor cracked me up. Try not to get on her bad side. For phil 11 (critical thinking) you will take a quiz every class first thing, so get there a little early to review definitions. Homework is due every class period. Easy class but everything counts, don't miss anything or your grade will suffer. She is a little rude.
A decent teacher overall, however she can be really mean, even to the students who do well in her class. She gets frustrated with the class when no one knows the answer (or refuses to give her one). I did well, but I stopped participating as much because of her attitude. A decent teacher to learn the material but she is pretty rude.
Avoid this instructor. I took her class online. Basically she expected us to make connections that instructors teach you during lecture. She had stupid videos that didn't come close. I lost my 4.0 due to this teacher. I don't expect an easy class, but I expect a fair course. I work hard. Save yourself, take a different prof
Took her online class n the winter. Take it w/ someone else. I struggled, the tests are hard but the hwk is easy. You wont get much help from her. I managed to get a B in the class which was shocking. Shes way too difficult!
Very rude asked her to confirm a question on hw, couldn't hear she made a change on homework and unable to hear her changes, and asked after class and says to ask someone, she then answered someone else's question and opened her book to the page. Wow! Why didn't I get that treatment, annoyed.
A good teacher for Critical Thinking. There's plenty of homework, but if you pay attention to the lectures, read the texts and do the homeworks, there's no excuse for not passing.
Taking this class online is a huge mistake. You have to participate a certain amount of times and watch time consuming video lectures. There is a ton of homework. I felt like it was way too much work and not enough reward.
WARNING: DO NOT TAKE CLASSES WITH THIS PROFEESOR. Homework is excessive. Accelerated course=13 hours of reading and homework. She does not like to answer question and even severe illness is NOT excused. She is also very RUDE!I started with a 3.8 GPA and may end up squeeking by with a D here.
Out of all the classes I've ever taken, she has been the worst teacher I've ever had. Her grading and participation requirements set you up to fail if you miss anything or if you don't do a good enough job. There's absolutely no room for error in anything that is to be graded in this class. If you're really well disciplined, then go ahead and attempt the class. If you have a busy life outside of school, avoid this class.
Okay, If you want to actually take a difficult course to learn something. Take this Professor. She doesn't put up with stupid questions but if you actually try and seek her out she will help you. Exams are tough and there is a lot of homework. If you want to learn... take this class. If you want another face-roll do nothing and get an A.. go home.
i took this professor during fall of 2013 the 8 week course and let me tell you the class was 49 students at the start and by the last last there was maybe 15 out of which on 5 passed. warning this professor is very nit picky she wants answers that way she want them worded even if you get the point across, she very boring. don't take her
Says herself that every semester students are very confused by her directions, yet continues to use complicated directions & format. You'll likely do great on written assignments & do very poorly on exams (also includes written work). Says to use her lectures for exams, not the books, but then tells you you're not using enough info from the books.
Exams are very difficult! I got a D average on exams. Participate as much as you can in discussions (it helps). Went to her office for help on the exams and she was very upfront about her expectations and open to argue responses. Don't take if you have a heavy course load. 11 is a lot heavier than 10. Take 11 first; it will help you understand 10.
She is extremely rude and unhelpful. I asked a question about her comment on my homework and she emailed me back a rude message. I don't recommend her AT ALL. Her tests are extremely difficult. I work hard for my grades but her class is ridiculous. If you want to be treated with respect, I would choose a different professor. Don't make my mistake
Only the strong survive!
Only the strong survive. If you do not cherish your education then her Critical Thinking class may not be for you. This class will strengthen your "Power of Reason" (Romans 12:1).
She's rude and very unhelpful. Her lectures just reiterate what your homework was about and was never in depth. She doesn't care whether you do well or not.
I took the class online, and the structure of the course was very simple. Many classmates said she didn't give them full credit on homework, but I did not seem to have that problem, just make sure you answer the homework very detailed. THE TESTS ARE VERY HARD. Make sure you do all the homework and the "participation" and you should be okay.
In my years of college I have never had a teacher as degrading as this one. DO NOT TAKE HER COURSE. I actually feel bad that she has so much hate in her soul. If you are in her class now drop it and RUN.
I must be missing something because the professor I had was excellent. Yes, she does not like stupid questions or ridiculous, immature behavior, but we are in college! The tests were not hard and she gives you the answers to the homework. Additionally, she blatantly tells you the specific information you need to know in each chapter.
I took this last term. She doesn't have a clue when it comes to grading. I participated WELL beyond the minimum and I received only a B. She offered extra credit for the SI study sessions. I went to almost all sessions but only got credit for half. Also, she puts questions on tests that are so random you are bound to get them wrong. DON'T TAKE
Took this online course for winter 2015; reading is required, nonetheless the textbook costs ($100+). Be expected to participate; the tests get gradually more challenging (to the extent that some answers are really single word-for-word phrases). For the "un-philosophical" mind, be prepared to deconstruct reality otherwise drop this course.
Easy class, definitely go for it!
Very difficult teacher. As far as exams go, if you do not word something the way she would word it, it will be marked wrong, no credit. Says she wants more in depth answers, but literally writing a book wont be enough to get hardly half credit. Not to mention, very condescending. Would take a different teacher if given the choice.
Professor Gobatie is a hard teacher, but a student can really learn from her class. If you put effort in, you most likely will pass. She doesn't want to hear excuses, don't talk about bananas if she talks about apples. She is strict forward and doesn't want her time to be wasted. Her class is hard, but you do what you are told to, and you are fine.
She may be a tough teacher, but you will learn from her and she does want to see her students succeed. There is a good amount of homework and quizzes. She doesn't want to hear excuses and expects you to always be focused and participating. She really does have great information to share, so if you want to learn, this is the teacher for you!
Worst teacher I have ever had out of my 3 years in college! She's very rude and strict! We all have other things going on in our lives besides school. All I did was just missed 1 exam and she dropped me for that reason. When I emailed her she replied extremely rude and sarcastic. She's a lot to put up with! Do not recommend her at all!
As this was an online class, there is no face-to-face interaction with the prof. You are essentially responsible for teaching yourself the material. Be sure to actively participate in the Discussion Board and provide meaningful responses. If you work hard, do the reading, attend SI if needed, and study you should do well. You get what you put in.
She's fine except for her grading on exams. Her expectations may seem clear as she goes over them in lecture but she will pick you apart on any free response questions; for this reason it is very difficult to get higher than a B on exams! If you want an A, read everything she says to read, do ALL online assignments. scrap every point possible!!!
She is the most disrespectful and rude professor I have ever been in contact with. Not only does she grade too harshly, she is very condescending. God forbid you have a question or concern without getting a sarcastic and rude response. If you don't answer questions EXACTLY how she wants, you don't get credit. DON'T TAKE HER.
Stripped-down "custom" text $95, 2nd text u don't use $70, full versions are $4 ea online! U scavenge hunt through at least 8 pgs of instructions overkill per lesson, submit many pages of work crammed up in 1 submission & if not super labeled no points!!conflict of interest & computer illiteracy much? Its a shame she so complicates an easy class.
I absolutely loved this professor and this class! I took her online for both 10 and 11 this semester and received an A in both. Her grading is clearly defined in her syllabus. Read it. You're responsible for teaching yourself. She helps if you ask. I worked really hard. You determine your success. Don't blame her if you don't follow directions...
Although she can be strict, you can learn a lot from her. On the first day I was absolutely terrified of her, but towards the end of the semester when there were about 10 students left, she seemed to loosen up a bit. She wants students who are extremely dedicated and persistent. Be willing to work hard for a good grade.
I attempted to take her online class in the summer of 2015 for philosophy 10. Worst teacher I had ever taken. I emailed her to ask her for help and she basically told me if I couldn't handle it to drop the class. This class was way too complicated to be intro to philosophy. I ended up dropping the class.
I read the reviews and prepared to have a very tough Professor. But, honestly, my expectation allowed me to succeed. She's "tough" if you're trying to slide through JUCO with the easiest and push-over Professors. Be willing to work, like you're supposed to in school, and you will succeed. She wants the best for her students by challenging them.
DO NOT TAKE HYBRID! It's a lot of reading, and the books are RCC specific (which is annoying and expensive if you prefer to buy your textbooks off of Amazon or rent them from Chegg). Between the reading, homework assignments, quizzes, and online work, the class is extremely time consuming. Honestly the hardest class I have ever taken.
I took this as an online class for the Spring 2016 semester as a 'fast-track' class. This was one of the most valuable & challenging classes that I have taken. Don't try this class if you are lazy and go to the SI sessions, it makes all the difference. By far, this was the best online teaching environment that I've ever been in.
worst teacher I have ever experienced. Has little to no care for her students. First day of class she preached about how much we would hate and most likely fail the class. Very critical and will put you on blast for a wrong answer in class. ALOT of homework, . Tests are somewhat difficult and she does not have a good teaching method. Not recomended
I'll be honest, I'm pretty lazy but this class was definitely a class that can be passed. I took her hybrid course, we had to read (max) 17 pages per week & answer hw problems. She required 6 postings over 3 weeks. If you read the textbook, you'll do just fine.
Took this class during winter semester. Not too hard but there's a lot of reading. After every lesson reading, we had a few questions to answer and a discussion posts. Exams are exactly like the review so you must make sure to study them. Overall, if you're not lazy, you should pass.
The content that is taught is inspiring. It really changed my view and the way I thought about things. The bad-Her syllabus is a mess, her grading criteria is absurd. My grandpa died 2 days into class and I asked for a 1-day extension on my homework and was denied. I worked hard and did all the reading but this lady is impossible. Custom books, :(
She is rude. Also, her syllabus is a mess and you will get lost going back and forth on the Blackboard to find the information you need to know. She's not specific and helpful. When you ask her some questions, she will answer you in a rude way in the way saying that answering your question is not her job and it annoys her too much. :(
I took her hybrid spring course, Honestly she makes her tests super easy as she basically gives you the answers through black board and the homework is participation and not graded so easy points. The only thing she graded tough were the 2 short essays she gives on the exams. Basically if you read and use her study materials its a fast easy A.
I don't know how this teacher is a full time faculty at Riverside City College!! She is terrible, she is not willing to help anybody, she tries to make you feel like crap if you ask a question. Her grading is really harsh and the online class is really unorganized. I wish I would have looked on here before registering for the class.
She is very contradicting on what she wants to be done. Her hw is a very heavy load which is not a big deal & seems super easy to pass. Her essays are the worst. The feed back that she does give is super vague like "nothing from the lecture". And the answers are exactly what I put but still got no credit for. Very condescending as well. Don't take.
Avoid this professor at all costs. One of the hardest professors I have ever had because of how she grades your essay questions. She gives vague feedback for the essay questions like "not enough detail" and doesn't explain what you did wrong. She's very rude if you try to contact her or ask questions. Lots of homework required and barely counts.
I have a great grade in the class, and I still would NEVER take this class again. EVER. I took this class for fun and she made me hate philosophy. She is super rude. Also, the physical class is so unnecessary, it would be better as an online lecture because she just reiterates what she has on blackboard. Take the advice and skip this teacher!
Hilariously useless. You're better off spending your time on classes which actually matter and don't consist of regurgitated information. Don't take her philosophy class.
Gobatie doesn't deserve these low reviews. This class is virtually impossible to fail. There is a practice exam for every test and the questions are the SAME; no excuse to not get 100%. Due dates are far apart so you wont be stressing everyday. She is not the most involved professor and this class wasn't very challenging, but I learned a lot!
This class is not difficult however the professor makes it very hard to care about the class. She has her own CUSTOM textbooks which are really expensive and they are full of garbage filler. Her lectures suck but if you read her notes online and ask any questions you have during class you have a chance of getting a C.
This teacher is completely 100% awful! Her grading must be based on her bipolar moods. When you write an essay that youve put so much into and get back insufficient, how in the world does that teach you anything?! I thought I was going to school to learn. Telling me my work is insufficient means this teacher is insufficient at best.
I dont get why Gobatie has these low reviews. Ive taken two of her classes, and in both Ive retained so much of what I learned. If you get a low grade in her class, honestly you must not have tried very hard... her assignments are easy and she gives you more than enough time to do them. Also, there was SO much extra credit.
I dont know why she is a professor. Doesnt have clear criteria of what she wants. Doesnt not let you know when your final is due so you think its due on the last day of class nope its due the day before and doesnt say anyhing .very rude when emailing her and grades not by how youre supposed but by her own grading criteria
first off she is rude when you email her about literally anything. She has her own personal book that makes no sense and is very expensive and not worth buying whatsoever. She has her own made up grading criteria whichcis garbage. overall your better off with a different professor.
This is an online course, that doesnt use any online material. She requires 3 different text books, one of which she wrote herself. She is basically using this course as a tool to make more money by selling her book as a requirement. It is a custom text and is not available online or in a library. Do Not Enroll!
What is with the low reviews? I do not understand the fuss, i am currently taking her online class and it is pretty straight forward. She grades fair, has specific instructions on the syllabus and even offers extra credit. Not every professor is going to hand you an A+ people.
I dont know why this teacher gets such bad ratings. She just doesnt like laziness. I took her super pregnant with two boys to take care of at home... I took her last year and her class was so easy. It amazed me how many people dropped because they just didnt want to do the work. Just be respectful and do what she asks. Easy A.
Bias with grading. Marked me down for CORRECT answers on tests but gave me points for the same exact question/answers on the final. I emailed her about it and she quickly became rude & defensive. My grade dropped from an A to a C because she gives 1 day to complete assignments once she unlocks it so I missed 2 exams.
In her physical class, she does not give extra credit. Lecture slides are just copied straight from book, but she can't remember why they are important. The "study guide" she makes, is simply the last page of every chapter. Blames poor test scores on class, not her teaching method. Might be best to take her online, judging from some other reviews.
Easy class if youre able to understand philosophy easily. I was able to just go off the videos she used and didnt need the book but it does help get a better understanding. Tests are open for 24hrs but if you did the practice tests she offers youll be fine!
She's not bad, but not the best. Does respond to emails vaguely. Not different from other online classes. Does give several extra credit opportunities. Homework is easy and don't really need the books (super expensive btw) besides to see examples and get the homework from them. Just review the Lessons. Exams are basically the same as practice ones.
Most people dropped her class because it was a lot of work. She gives all the work for the month and you get to do it at your own pace. I typically gave myself a week to read and do each lesson, and still had a week left before the final due date. She is a very tough grader, but if you do the practice tests every lesson you should be fine.
There was a lot of work to be done but she gave a whole month in between due dates and exams. As long as you do the readings and read her lecture notes, you will be fine. She is clear about what she expects, you just have to put time into the readings and dont wait until the last minute to do everything because thats how you will fall behind.
She is very rude and very strict on grading. She also gets mad if you have not been active with the course. I ended up dropping the course due to so much work and got overwhelmed with her grading, the reading, and so much more. Please find another professor because this one was by far one of the most disrespectful professors I ever had.
This teacher lacks the ability to critically think outside of her course. She makes you buy a bunch of books, including one that was "written" by herself. Grading is super awful, and the feedback given is so incredibly vague that you won't learn from your mistakes. Avoid this teacher at all costs. I tried to give it a shot and regret it.
Do the reading its a lot but it helps also read the intro, lect notes, & do the self test. She gives ex-cred & the first two are the essay qs for the test. There are four test the first two tests are in two parts one is multiple choice & the other is essay qs. The last two test are categorizing passages. Tests have time limits 40 min so prepare.
She lacks the ability to teach. She leaves rude comments on coursework. Very unprofessional. I do not know how she got hired. Do not take her classes. She's the Karen of teachers.
Her initial engagement waned, relying on YouTube over readings. Struggles in offering constructive feedback, defensive responses to students, and changing grades without explanation or notifying students, coupled with an overly emotional demeanor, raise concerns about fairness, transparency, and professionalism.
The worst proffesor I have ever had! I took her online class and it was horrible, its all reading based, if you dont answer exactly what she wants you fail that assignment (same with test) she gave such little time for exams, gives the most concending feedback i have ever read in my life. Overall never take her for your sanity.
her class is tough & she knows it. For every Exam, there are two. She gives "extra credit" but if you get 2/5 points of EC your grade goes DOWN rather than up so it defeats the purpose of EC!!! we have to read (And purchase) two books. she only gives you her "notes", I've never once heard her talk or even know what she looks like. Don't recommend.
I absolutely hated this class her feedback was so rude I was actually shocked. It feels very much that if you don't say exactly what she wants in the Answer she gives you a bad grade and rude comment. I decided this class was not worth my sanity you have to read so so much and this class is very boring.
Professor Gobatie's class is tough, with a lot of reading and strict grading. Her feedback can be condescending, and she doesn't seem to have a great teaching style. However, using study tools like Unstuckstudy helped me prepare for her exams. Overall, I'd recommend looking for a different professor if possible.
This professor struggles with managing online classes. Many students rely on internet sources, but the exams are strictly based on the textbook. So if you like to skim through a textbook.. better luck next time! Using online resources won't help. On the plus side, homework is spaced out, giving you plenty of time to prepare.
Your grade is based on reading and memorizing the book. There are no lectures. All work is to be submitted without using your notes or the book. Avoid this class and get a professor that cares enough to create lectures!
Extremely vague test questions and instructions. Even when reading the textbook a lot of the questions had many possible answers but still would not accept any other answers even with reasonable explanations. The high on a midterm was an F and she did not curve. Passive aggressive and does not care about students at all. Avoid at all costs!
